Another fun one, mainly because the fic raises the very real possibility that Liu Qingge and Zhuzhi Lang having unprotected sex may result in snabies (snake babies) and imagining the potential offspring of those two adorable weirdos made me absurdly happy. One quarter Heavenly Demon, one quarter snemon (snake demon), half human…they would be so cute. And they would hatch from eggs (as the fic specifies) and Liu Qingge would be able to hold any one of his newly hatched children cupped in just his hands because they would be so SMALL.

We must recall that ZZL has a naturally mostly-snakey appearance and only started looking human and stuff because Tianlang Jun decided he should. So there’s a real possibility that any of these potential snildren would have an even weirder mix of humanoid and snake characteristics to start with than even Zhuzhi Lang did. But I would love them anyway, I tells ya what. I would love them so hard.

Summary:

Binghe presents as a Alpha just before Shen Qingqiu casts him into the Abyss. He crawls his way out an omega and declares he belongs to Shizun and will die if Shen Qingqiu doesn't fuck him.

“Longer if you claim me first, Shizun,” Binghe says as he sits up. He arranges Shen Qingqiu’s arms back around his neck to his liking. He tilts his head to the side and offers his neck. “Bite me and I will last a week.” “You could be lying,” Shen Qingqiu says, without believing it. “Binghe is well now.” “Alpha is jealous,” Binghe says, pleased. “You begrudge what your Binghe had to do to survive without you?”

Alright, I notice that you watch a lot of Chinese fantasy shows recently, can you tell me more about the plots and how you got into each title. (And hoping you're doing as good as you currently can.)

Thank you for the ask, darling. I’ve been working on an answer ever since you sent this, but stopped when I hit 2k and was only halfway through the plot :’) Did help a lot with distracting me, though XDDD I’m much better now!

In short, I’ve only watched The Untamed/read the novel it was based on, The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, and started reading The Scum Villain Self-Saving Syste. I’ve also watched about five episodes of the cartoon version of Heaven Official’s Blessings. They’re all from the same author, Mo Xiang Tong Xiu.

The Untamed is the most famous one. It’s the story of Wei Wuxian, a talented cultivator who’s summoned back to life about 15 years after his death. In the past, after inventing a new form of cultivation (nothing to do with plants) and helping to win a war, he was killed after becoming revilled in the cultivation world. He gets a second chance at life - and love! this is a BL story! - and has to deal with the consequences of his past decisions and the remains of his relationships, while investigating the hauntings of a dead body who won’t rest and how the situation came to be.

There’s a lot - and I mean A LOT - of plot involved in The Untamed, but what really makes it roll in my brain to this day are the themes. The most important ones, imho: what is the point of punishment for justice, how public opinion shapes and destroys reputations and lives, and the futility of revenge. Wei Wuxian was once considered a hero, then died hated for some things that he did do and many things he had no control or responsibility over, and when he comes back, people want him to pay still, even when he’s already paid with his life once. The novel asks, when is it enough? How much must someone pay before having the right to move on? And then by the end he’s not quite forgiven, but forgotten when the world shifts to blame someone else - the main antagonist of the story, who same as Wei Wuxian, had once been lauded as a hero and a great leader, and dies being blamed for things he did and things he did not have control or responsibility over. This character, Jin Guangyao, and Wei Wuxian, haven’t really got a lot of similarities besides serving as the instruments for the theme, but this parallel between them is very clear.

I think the most satisfying part, for me, is how both the protagonist and the antagonist - Wei Wuxian and Jin Guangyao - do have heinous crimes to their names, they’re not empty threats, so it’s more poignant when the author leads the readers to see how pointless their ultimate punishment is.

All that aside, I like the romance aspects too, though as always, I love the side pairings much more than the main pairing and this must suffer.
