Hi! I've gotten really into Bungo Stray Dogs over the course of the past few months and SSKK in particular, I recently just finished up with my first ever fandom secret santa and had a really enjoyable experience and was looking for more opportunities to participate in fandom events, and was wondering if there'd be a Shin Soukoku Week for 2023 even though there wasn't one for 2022?
Thanks so much for your time!
Hi there, thank you so much for your interest in SSKK Week! Unfortunately our mods are no longer as active in the fanbase as we once used to be, and we have no plans to continue SSKK Week in the future.
In saying that though, we would be more than happy to spread the word if anyone else wants to run SSKK Week 2023! It would be a great way to celebrate the anime next year - unfortunately we just won't be the ones to host it.

Title: Volcano Day [fourth: July 29] entry Prompt used: 03 [Bitter Sweet]
What I am to you is not real What I am to you, you do not need What I am to you is not what you mean to me You give me miles and miles of mountains And I'll ask
What I give to you Is just what I'm going through This is nothing new No, no just another phase of finding What I really need is what makes me bleed But like a new disease

Heathens
(And with this, I’ve actually completed three bingos! This bingo idea for SSKK week was great, and I had a lot of fun with it ^^)
350/365: Heathens
Shin Soukoku Week day 7 entry Prompts used, I3, I5

“The masquerade is a way for the rules to be loosened for one night.”
Ryuunosuke fixes Atsushi’s bowtie, folding it gently against his neck.
“By using disguises, each guest’s identity can be almost completely hidden. They may recognize us regardless, and you may recognize others, but questioning anyone’s identity is an unspoken taboo.”
He ties his mask behind his head, red ribbons falling over his hair, matching the color of the barrette holding it in a small ponytail.
“Tonight, we’ll use different names. Everyone does.”
The car slows to a stop, and Ryuu glances outside, beyond the black fox mask circling his eyes and covering his cheeks. He looks back to Atsushi then, quickly straightening out the lapels of his suit as the driver steps outside.
“Now,” murmurs Ryuu, touching the nose of his mask to Atsushi’s own, “what is my name, love?”
Atsushi takes a deep breath, steadying his heartbeat, willing the adrenaline to stop boiling in his blood.
“Kitsune,” he murmurs, unable to keep his nervous eyes from glancing behind Ryuu at the driver opening the car door for them. But Ryuu sets his gloved hand on Atsushi’s cheek, turning him back towards him, his completely calm eyes steadying him like an anchor.
“And you?” He says softly. Atsushi gulps a little.
“Tsuki,” he says, throat dry. Ryuu nods. But his brow furrows slightly, and he runs his thumb across Atsushi’s cheek.
“You’re nervous,” he says. “We can go home, if you’d like.”
Despite how his hands quiver in his lap, Atsushi shakes his head almost immediately.
“No,” he says quietly. He reaches across their laps, entwining his fingers with Ryuu’s, holding his hand tightly. “This… This means a lot to you.”
He smiles softly, touching their fox masks together again. “I want to do it for you.”
Ryuu sighs. His hand falls from Atsushi’s face, pausing at his lips, moving down his arm to his hand.
“You’re an idiot,” he mutters, but he stands, stepping out the open door, his fingers still latched onto Atsushi’s. “And I love you.”
With a smile, Atsushi follows.
Greek columns lit by spotlights stand before the grandiose building. In front of the large double doors, a concierge stands by a podium.
“Names?” He asks. Ryuu’s lips twitches, and he reaches into his pocket.
“We’re on the list,” he mutters, slipping a wad of yen into the concierge’s hand, who merely nods.
“Of course, sir.”
Atsushi only stares at Ryuu as they step inside, mouth hanging open. Ryuu glances at him.
“That’s how everyone gets in,” he shrugs. Atsushi holds tight to his hand as Ryuu opens the door, and the expanse of the Mafia’s masquerade stretches before them.
The entire room is decorated in a rich, ornate red, from the carpets to the curtains. Every guest filling the massive hall wears elaborate outfits and detailed masks, and waiters scuttle around with trays of food and drink.
And Atsushi’s gace travels over all of it, soaking it in, until Ryuu tugs slightly on his hand.
“Tsuki, dear,” he murmurs, a ghost of a smile at the corners of his lips, “would you rather stand in the doorway all evening, or accompany me inside?”
Atsushi feels his shoulders relax as Ryuu squeezes his hand gently.
“Alright, Kitsune,” he smiles.
He walks inside with his lover, hand-in-hand, letting his presence and the reverie of the night soothe his nerves. Despite the crowd, this is their night.
And no Mafia or Agency will take that away from them.

Shin Soukoku Week 2021
Shin Soukoku Week is back for the 5th time this year! The week will be held from July 26-August 1, 2021, with the return of the BINGO event!
How does the BINGO event work?
Tumblr media
2021 brings a whole new set of prompts! Each day, you can pick a prompt from one of the grids. Feel free to interpret the prompts however you wish.
Any two prompts can be combined for one entry.
Entries can be fanarts, fanfics, cosplays, videos, and any other multimedia work.
When submitting, make sure to format your post like so:
Title, if applicable Day [x] entry Prompt/s used: (For example, B1, I2, N3, G4, O5, etc)
While we encourage everyone to participate in their own way, completing a BINGO is our challenge to participants! To complete a BINGO, a participant must cross out a line of tile/boxes with any of the following patterns: vertical, horizontal, and diagonal.
At the end of the event, we will share a list of everyone who has completed at least 3 BINGOs. To make it easier for us to check, participants can submit their username here after completing 3 BINGOs.
Make sure you tag your works with #shinsoukoku2021 to help us track your submission.
If you have any questions, feel free to send us a message! Please also help us spread the word by reblogging this post.
We can’t wait to see everyone’s works soon!

Atsushi struggles with translating, a fact he’s sure Akutagawa will make fun of.
[a/n: written for @shinsoukoku-week day 4! the theme was ‘au’, so of course I could resist doing my stay!au, where atsushi is a prince and akutagawa is (begrudgingly) his knight in a medieval-esque setting.]
Atsushi wasn’t sure if the tears building up in his eyes were from frustration or anger, but regardless he was very sick of wiping them away. The skin on his eyes was sore from rubbing and a headache from strain was lurking. The idea of doing this for another hour—or more!—made him want to storm out of the castle and never return.
Atsushi sniffled, set the quill down, and placed his forehead on his desk.
Ryuunosuke had been standing silent in the corner this entire time, his face buried into a book and glasses perched on his nose. Now he materialized at Atsushi’s side, looking over the papers on his desk.
Atsushi sighed, knowing that Ryuunosuke was going to scoff at all of his hard work and pick out the obvious answer from this sea of letters. It was no small secret that translation was not Atsushi’s strong-suit. After all, a year ago he couldn’t even read. Atsushi didn’t find that a very good excuse, however. He was going to be king. This sort of thing should come naturally.
“Saurikian?” Ryuunosuke asked in his usual monotone, pointing to the foreign letters.
Atsushi sat up, taking his quill back in hand. “Maybe...” he said gruffly.
He waited for Ryuunosuke to point to one of the letters and correct him, but instead he said nothing. His eyes darted over the papers, his eyebrows furrowing ever so often.
Atsushi scrawled out another character, happy to pick out a word for the first time in nearly ten minutes. Really, though, he should’ve recognized ‘farming’ a lot sooner.
Ryuunosuke leaned on the desk, crossing his arms as he watched Atsushi work. Atsushi kept holding his breath, waiting for Ryuunosuke to say something. The scathing insult to his intelligence should be coming any second now...
Another ten minutes passed and Atsushi couldn’t stand it. He slammed the quill down, looking up to meet Ryuunosuke’s gaze with an angry glare. “What is it‽ Spit it out!”
Ryuunosuke blinked slowly, then looked away. “I have nothing to say to you.”
With that, he pushed off the desk and returned to his post in the corner, picking up his book.
Atsushi scowled then spun sharp enough in his chair for it to tilt dangerously. “You’re a bad liar,” Atsushi growled.
Ryuunosuke, infuriatingly, didn’t respond. Instead, he calmly turned the page.
Atsushi huffed and turned back to his work, practically bristling. His quill let out a splatter of ink when he next set it to paper, but he had to admit that the next few words seemed easier than before. Nothing like anger as motivation, Atsushi mused.
Atsushi jumped when he realized Ryuunosuke had snuck up behind him once more. Atsushi furrowed his brow and shot out a few more words of translation.
The quill froze when he felt Ryuunosuke’s torso pressed into his back. Ryuunosuke reached over Atsushi’s shoulder, pointing to a Saurikian word. “How do you pronounce this?”
Atsushi struggled to focus on the word long enough to read it. The feeling of Ryuunosuke’s strong stomach muscles were, um, distracting to say the least.
After a pause that was frankly too long, Atsushi got his heavy tongue to move. “Ma-de-rock,” Atsushi sounded out, perhaps a little quickly.
Ryuunosuke, to Atsushi’s surprise, copied the noise slowly and a little imperfectly.
“It means ‘rainfall’,” Atsushi said, turning his head awkwardly to look at Ryuunosuke’s face, “Like the amount of it.”
Ryuunosuke turned his attention from the Saurikian document to the Kafkian one. He read the words quickly. “You’re learning about farming?”
“Something wrong with that?” Atsushi snapped, finally shifting forward so he didn’t have to feel Ryuunosuke’s body heat. He paused on the next word, struggling to sound it out.
For some reason, Ryuunosuke still wasn’t leaving, but he wasn’t speaking either. Atsushi really didn’t have the energy to keep up his annoyance, so eventually he just sighed. “Ryuunosuke, what exactly are you doing?”
For a moment, Ryuunosuke didn’t speak, only ran his hand along some of the dried ink on the paper. He stroked a curl of a character Atsushi had written almost lovingly. The very movement made Atsushi blush. “Saurikian is a difficult language,” Ryuunosuke said, as if that explained it.
“You can speak it, can’t you?” Atsushi said, rolling his eyes. Was he trying to compliment himself on his own genius?
“No,” Ryuunosuke said, withdrawing his hand.
Atsushi blinked. “But—”
“Have I ever indicated I could speak another language, your royal highness?” Ryuunosuke looked annoyed.
“No...” Atsushi said slowly. He’d just assumed. Ryuunosuke was good at everything, so of course he’d be good at languages, too. “Sorry.”
Ryuunosuke didn’t seem to know how to respond to that. He looked Atsushi up and down, then away entirely, busying himself with the reading the papers again.
“That doesn’t really explain what you’re doing, though.” Atsushi pointed out.
Ryuunosuke didn’t look up. “Does it matter?”
Although the honest answer was ‘no’, Atsushi couldn’t help but purse his lips in annoyance. “It does to me.”
Ryuunosuke’s eyes flicked back to Atsushi’s, looking a bit guarded. After a breath, he spoke. “You’re beautiful.”
Dead silence. Atsushi wasn’t sure his heart was beating. Hell, even the fireplace seemed to freeze.
Ryuunosuke spoke first, his body going rigid as he retreated away. His entire face had gone red, a sight Atsushi had never seen. He sucked in a very audible breath. “You’re handwriting. The words. It’s beautiful. I like to look at it.”
Atsushi’s face felt like it was on fire. He looked back to his work like it had somehow become piles of diamonds on his desk. “Thankyou,” he said in a single breath, making it was a wonder Ryuunosuke even heard them.
“Obviously,” Ryuunosuke said, which didn’t really make sense but Atsushi wasn’t about to point it out.

Consolation Prize
(Have some beast AU for fun and pain.)
349/365: Consolation Prize
Shin Soukoku Week day 6 entry Prompts used: I4, O3
-
Atsushi. Strength, raw and uncontainable. For this, he gained a sort of respect from Ryuunosuke; far from affectionate, but an acknowledgement of a worthy adversary.
Atsushi. Fragile, his heart on his sleeve. Somehow these two beings existed inside the same body, never in conflict, but giving Ryuu a reason to rethink his intermittent compliments.
“You baffle me, Jinko,” he says once, staring at Atsushi as they stand beside each other. “How can you be so strong, yet so weak?”
Atsushi frowns, shooting him a small glare.
“Thank you for that,” he scoffs. He wipes a drop of blood from his mouth, smearing it on his striped fur, standing from his crouch.
And yet the Mafia continues to send him into battle. Perhaps it’s his resilience, or his efficiency, or the pure rage he can spill like lava onto his warpath. They use him as a shield, a living weapon.
It infuriates Ryuu down to his core.
Atsushi’s claws slash through the air, narrowly missing Ryuu’s shoulder. He jumps back, chest shaking, staring into the golden eyes of the weretiger, whose mouth glistens with sharpened teeth.
“We’ve been through this so many times,” he growls. He licks a drop of blood that strayed onto his lips, sliding down from the cut off his cheeks. “Stay out of our way, and we won’t hurt you.”
Ryuu frowns.
“You know I can’t allow that,” he says.
He jumps out of the way as Atsushi’s fists slam into the ground where he stood, as the weretiger snarls.
“This would be so much easier if you did!” He roars, digging his claws into the concrete pillar beside him. The roof creaks as he rips the pillar from its base, pupils slits, growling wildly as he tosses it at Ryuu. He barely manages to duck.
“Then we could stop this!”
He runs forward again, swiping his claws towards Ryuu, who continually steps out of the way. Rashoumon’s hunger rumbles in his veins, but he wills it to stay dormant.
“They wouldn’t send me to fight you anymore!”
Atsushi’s hand slams into another pillar, causing dust and chunks to fly from it. A gasp slips from Ryuu’s throat as his back hits a solid wall.
“Maybe they’d stop forcing me to hurt you!”
Atsushi stops. His long, black claws hover inches from Ryuu’s face, the echo of his scream dying in the derelict, underground room. He pants, eyes wide.
“I…” He murmurs, much quieter now. The corners of his eyes have begun to turn murky. Though Ryuu’s heart still hammers against his ribs, he reaches his arms out almost instinctively.
“... I don’t… Want to hurt you,” admits Atsushi, small voice breaking. Everything else breaks in turn.
He falls to his knees. Ryuu follows. The tears begin to slip from his eyes, his anger high falling away like crumbling walls, and Ryuu wraps his arms around his greatest enemy. That enemy cries into his shoulder.
A few times, Ryuu tries to speak, but he stops himself every time. He doesn’t even know what words he’d use.
He just sits there, holding a villain close, a silent lullaby against slowing, hiccuping sobs.

title: rumor has it
fandom: 文豪ストレイドッグス | Bungou Stray Dogs
rating: General Audiences
pairing: Akutagawa/Atsushi, Higuchi/Gin
summary: At lunch, Higuchi hears about a new rumor at school. Of course, she has to investigate.
sskk week - day 4: AUs
”So, you have a boyfriend?“
Akutagawa doesn’t seem to be aware of the tension in the room, as he continues to scribble down something in that notebook of his.
Their homework, maybe?
Higuchi squints, trying to make out the words. She hadn’t really paid attention in class, this afternoon. After all, the news she received at lunch left her a little shaken.
It’s an open secret that she cares a lot about Akutagawa, after all, Higuchi is not the type to hide her affection. By now, she usually brought lunch not only for herself but also for the Akutagawa siblings. So, when she handed Akutagawa the wrapped box at lunch, it wasn’t really anything out of the ordinary.
It could have been a normal day until one of her classmates pulled her aside. Hushed and nervous the girl told her about the newest development at their school. The girl kept looking at her with badly concealed pity, almost as if she was expecting Higuchi to break down crying every second.
