Thinking about finally adding a Miku figure to my collection and I’m looking for recommendations on good ones that aren’t too hard to find these days.

A few criteria:

I only buy scales, not interested in prize/nendo/etc (prefer 1/7 but I’m okay with other sizes)

Love super cute outfits and hair styles

Hate super large bases for figures

Do you have any suggestions?

congrats on your mikufication! it's a little difficult to confidently recommend mikus since i get almost all my figures secondhand (so less readily available) and the ones i don't own i can only judge on visuals (which is ofcourse a matter of taste) and not quality. i'll still share some of my favourite mikus and hopefully you can get some inspo! :)

my favourite 1/7 mikus i own are trick or miku, heart hunter, vintage dress, digital stars 2020 (base is kinda big tho, takes up half a detolf shelf) and lam rock singer. of those only trick or miku and lam rock singer are readily available on popular figure sites.

my favourite 1/8 mikus i own are 2014 racing miku, 2016 racing miku and harvest moon.

some cute recent releases/preorders are NT style casual wear (1/6 scale), 39's special day, symphony 2022, racing 2010, racing 2021 private, 15th anniversary, maneki neko and 16th birthday. all of these should either be available for preorder or should be available soon when they release.

some cute ones that are a bit older are shaohua, hanairogoromo, the first dream, sakura fairy, 10th anniversary, birthday 2021, memorial dress, with solwa, racing 2019 and tony haregi. you might still be able to find a few of these still available on popular figure sites but you'd probably have to find them secondhand. the myfigurecollection comment sections can help with that.

please note that i don't own any of the figures in the last two categories so i can't judge the quality, the mfc comment section can also help with that! i hope any of this is useful for you!!!

Then a guy with an white apron on walks over to you two's table.

You look at the wall and see one for horse betting and for a distillery. It says, Distilled for incurable sadness. Second one says Shelby Betting.

Harry comes back with you two's drinks.

" Enjoy", Harry says sitting them down onto the table.

In the corner of the pub a rough looking guy sitting with his friends looks at you, but you're unaware because you were facing the other way. Tommy didn't know of them talking because he was focusing on you. Your beautiful brown eyes catches his attention. Also, he was engrossed in talking to you about horses. The guys snicker as they look at your figure. One guy whispers quietly that you looked like a whale. Second one laughs at the guys comment.

Third guy whispers," That Tommy must be a dumb fook to love her."

" Want me tell them in person?", the rough guy asks looking at the second guy.

" I would to see what they do, ey", the second guy says watching you and Tommy.

The rough guy gets up walking you two's way.

"You told me that you have a big horse stable", you say looking at him.

Then Tommy hits the bottle over the guys head. The bottle breaks into a million pieces with some shards sticking into the guys head. Some lands on the floor around him. Blood runs down the sides of his head.

" Fooking hell!", the rough guy shouts in pain looking at Tommy.

He tries to run at Tommy, but stops midway because his vision was blurry from the blood getting in his eyes.

" You asked for it you fook, eh", Tommy spats at the guy stepping back.

The rough guy glances back at his friends. They sit there with their mouths open with shock. Tommy looks their way watching them like a hawk. He puts his hand in his pocket pulling out his gun. Tommy points it at his friends and him.

" You guys get the fook out of here and never come back." " By order of the peaky fooking blinders", Tommy shouts at the guys as he points his gun at them.

The guys quickly get up from their seats looking at Tommy like scared chickens.

" Lets... get ... out ... of ... here", the second guy stutters as he moves to the door quickly.

Other guy follows him without a word out the door.

" That includes you too fooker", Tommy says picking up the rough guy by the collar.

Rough guy just looks at him with fearful eyes. As Tommy gets him near the door, he throws him onto the cold ground outside.

" Fook you", Tommy shouts at the guy watching him.

Rough guy just lays there looking around. His friends stand in the alleyway watching him. Then Tommy pulls his gun out and shoots him in the head.

" Oh shit!", his friends shout looking at their friend.

Tommy hears his remaining friends and looks their way.

" Fook off or you'll end up just like him", Tommy shouts looking at them.

The guys run off fast after he says that. Harry goes outside to Tommy.

" They gone Tom?", Harry asks him glancing at the dead man.

" Yes and call Johnny Dogs to get the body", Tommy says softly putting his gun back in his pocket.

" Will do Tom", Harry says going back into the pub. Harry goes to call Johnny Dogs.

Before Tommy goes back inside, he takes advantage of enjoying the fresh cool night air. He takes out his gold cigarette case pulling out a cigarette. Next he rubs the butt of the cigarette on his lips, so it stays in place. Lighting the cigarette, he leans onto the door frame looking inside the pub. Tommy notices you crawling from under the bar.

" I hope she's ok", Tommy thinks to himself as he blows smoke.

After you crawl from under the bar, you look around for Tommy. You notice that he's no where in sight. A look of worry appears on your face. Harry sees you looking for him.

" Tom is outside luv", Harry says coming to you. " Oh ok, thanks Harry", you say with a sigh of relief. You go to the table you were sitting at and grab your coat.

Everyone in the bar was going about their business again when you walk outside. To the right of the door Tommy stands smoking a cigarette.

" Hey Tommy, I thought something happened to you", you say looking at him.

For @thebirdandhersong, some brands that carry 50s-style dresses that you might try looking for. Buying them directly from the vendors is rather expensive, so I tend to scour Ebay or Poshmark or similar places for used ones. Sometimes you can find things for a decent price, although I don't know what your range is.

Lindy Bop (unfortunately no longer in business, but possible to find used)

Hell Bunny (regrettable name, but they do have some very cute retro dresses)

Retrolicious (notable for distinctive cotton prints--this is the brand of the book dress in my pfp--expensive on their site, possible to find some styles used though)

Collectif (I find this brand harder to track down at a good price, but they have some nice stuff, like shirt dresses, if you can find anything)

Modcloth (their older stuff is more vintage-style)

Unique Vintage (I'm less familiar with this brand)

Hearts and Roses (^ same)

Emily and Fin (I have this dress of theirs, and I love it)

Some of these are British brands and thus have a different sizing system. I don't know if Canadian sizes run any different from American, but in general subtracting four from a British size will give you the American equivalent (e.g. a UK 12 is likely to fit like a US 8).

The website Vintage Dancer also has lists of 50s-style dresses currently available. A lot of the options are rather expensive, but you might find some things more in your range too.

this was a fun challenge, since "vintage" means a lot of different things to different people. i personally think 80's-90's is vintage, but there's some y2k stuff in here as well. vintage can get kind of expensive, so i tried to keep to items that were individually under $50 since i don't know your personal budget

karkat's affinity for grey and black and them both being red-coded drew me to vintage goth/punk stuff, which made it a lot easier to find skeleton stuff as well. most of these listings are from the same shop, BlackSunshineVTG, which is why so many of the items are on the same red background. i don't know what size you are, so the items range from a small dress to an extra large sweater

Being 100% cotton, this dress is the perfect mix of simplicity and femininity. It comes with a maxing crinoline to give volume to the skirt if desired. Please note important yellowing on the crinoline due to old age. The dress was freshly dry cleaned. The size tag says US 8, please refer tot he measurements.
