Do Donnie and April ever fight any of the turtles' rogues gallery in this AU? Since Donnie started sneaking into April's school earlier, I wonder if he might've started his rivalry with the Purple Dragons earlier as well.

So I imagine a lot of the episodes in the show with Donnie and his brothers still take place in the AU, more or less the same as in canon but only with Donnie, April and Shelldon this time around. This means that yes, they do end up fighting against both the major and minor antagonists.

And about the Purple Dragons specifically... I hinted at it in that previous post that Donnie sneaking into April's school at a much younger age would lead to him being discovered by someone in particular, and quite a few people managed to guess that I was refering to specifically Kendra. I was going to wait a bit with revealing this information, but considering ya'll were being smart I might as well talk about it now

Anyway, the concept of Donnie meeting Kendra and the Purple Dragons at a much earlier time was one of the first things I came up with in the AU lol, I just got distracted by other stuff so I put that particular plot point on hold. Originally I was kinda vibing with the idea that Donnie and April were even friends with the Purple Dragons but.... I kinda felt like that would undermine Donnie's entire problem with being isolated and lonely (I want him to suffer haha). But I didn't just want to have the same dynamic between them as in the show.

So in the AU Donnie and Kendra still have their rivalry thing going on, it's just a lot less hostile than what it is in canon. More of a frienemies type thing, they'll compete about who has the better tech and insult each other all the time, but they never seriously fight with each other. And maybe later down the line they actually befreind each other properly.

First Encounters with the Disaster Twins

A/N: I wanted to try something new- by NO MEANS am I a writer but I'm trying to tap into the turtle-ness that are these brothers. SO I thought why not for a start do a READER first encounter? I rushed Donnie's story a bit but that's because I had to do some things today...enjoy!

💜DONNIE - (ROOFTOP...at night...half rescue-) 

You were on top of the roof admiring the scenery, frustrated at the troubles of the day. It wasn't your fault that you had the computer stolen, Kendra and her purple dragons managed to get their grubby hands on it, and then you were blamed for losing it.

You swore that you would get it one way or another, however, you never thought of a plan for it...

You were drowning in the scene so much that you had no awareness to what was going on...in other words, you were called "too emotional" for your own good, not that it was your fault. Just the overall scenery and quietness made everything much more vibrant...until you heard the sound of a crash. You turned your head and looked over to where the sound had come from; down in the alley.

Rushing; you had gone to see what it was.

Then it all came to you, there they were - the Purple Dragons.

You scowled at the very look on Kendra's smug little face.

Kendra was about to speak before getting bumped on the head with what seemed to be a metal part....wow. Is she okay??? It seems like her henchmen were thinking the same thing.

Whilst they were dragging her away hoping that she was at least ALIVE, you look up to see something floating around the buildings unevenly. Quickly grabbing the metal piece that fell, you rush your way in the direction the figure went.

Not even caring about the dragons that would soon follow you.

Climbing your way up the building's stairs, you lay your eyes upon a turtle with a purple shell and purple bandana. Looking frustrated and seemingly fixated on something. "All that I told Nardo to do- was leave the controls alone and nothing would happen. And what does he do? Touch. My. Things..." his eye twitches from the thought...and hissing too. "And great...I'm missing something! Round of applause anyone? Anyone?...Ah great now I'm talking to myself. I'm becoming Raph." He visibly shivered at the thought as he gave himself a slight face palm.

You couldn't help but try to make your way out of the situation, in shock that a turtle is even capable of moving like that, that tall and that smart and can TALK???? Its like something from a Jupiter Jim movie.

You took a step back but you missed your footing and tripped backwards.

"GAHHH---!!" You cried in terror as you- ya know- nearly fell to your death at 115 ft. But your body was grabbed by four claws that dragged you up.

Unknowingly, you were squirming to get out.

"Fear not dear fellow human, for I am but your most excellent SAVIOR!" he gloats to himself. "Against my tech, you are unable to break free from my heroic grasp from. Yours truly: Othello Von Ryan!" He gloats again, seems like he's trying to show how smart he is.

"....Othello Von Ryan?" you looked up at him confused. "Is that your name-"

"I-" he opened his eyes and raised his eyebrow with his arms slightly crossed. "Do you have a problem with that?" he questioned you.

".....No?" You squeaked out to him.

The Turtle seemed to bring his attention over to the piece that you had in your hand. His eyes glimmering. He looked so happy! So content in passion.

"Hey...you found the piece! That's what I'm looking for!" he exclaimed.

His claws put you down so that you could walk towards him and give him the piece. "Was this yours?" You asked handing him the metal part.

"More or less... it's for something very precious of mine.-" He looks He takes the piece before you both get surprised by the Purple Dragons. Kendra seemed to hiss when she saw the turtle.

"Get them Jas!" she had her "brother" try to take care of the situation with his invention that seemed to be in the form of a spider. "Get Donnie this time! Make yourself of use!" I mean- she's angry cause she got hit on the head with a metal part... it's understandable.

Suddenly you feel a hand wrap around your waist along with the turtle saying. "Hang on!!" You grip on without thinking before the turtle's purple shell grows to drone-like wings and starts hovering to get the two of you away from the situation.

"Donnie huh...?" you thought to yourself looking up at the softshell. 

🩵LEO - (IT WAS A RESCUE...it was by accident-)

You were walking back home from work.

It wasn't most ideal but your car had been in an accident so you had no way of transportation...and crime was spiking, so you had already made up your mind to not take a cab. However, this was fine, you made sure to stay on the right shortcut home and that there was a light where you went...and above all, you had your BEATING STICK! +lucky charm.

(insert sparkling image of a dinky self-defense weapon here...along with the charm of your choice.)

What could go wrong?

Is what you said to yourself....but it was too late--

Suddenly; a glowing blue light appeared from above. Looking up to see what it was- your fight or flight response immediately made you leap across the street when a mutant hippo came crashing down with a mutant turtle following behind.

"HOHOO--- BOYY!" the turtle in blue started to exclaim as he came crashing down into the pavement on the Hippo.

"Blasted! You teleported me away from the 'Cards of Devant'! Curse you turtle! What is it that I possibly have to do to get you turtles off my hide." The hippo cursed at the red-eared slider in an accent, floating rings surrounding him.

"You're telling me...I could be catching my beauty-zs right now, but you have to try to get your tricky fingers on those magical cards-!"

The turtle was using his odachi to create more portals to deflect the spinning rings coming at him; you were too stunned to speak- but you tried your best to sneak away until you heard a snort from the hippo mutant. You slowly made eye contact...and then awkwardly smiled.

The hippo seemed to give a grin.

"Eh? Whatcha looking at-- ohhhh boy..." the turtle looked in your direction too. How could he have not seen you before- he didn't know but all he could do was try to play cool.

It was only then that the turtle knew what to do. He couldn't stay longer- but he couldn't leave you there either. He left his brothers behind where the cards were, so he knew they would be safe...I suppose it's time to do what any hero would do.

He leaped at you whilst you grabbed your BEATING STICK as a way of self-defense. Not knowing what was happening-

The hippo pounced, but you managed to sledge him straight in the head with your BEATING STICK losing it in the process; with that being said the Hippo missed and the turtle fell through the portal with you in one of his arms.

"Adios! Hippos!" the turtle called with a laugh following after. The hippo seemed outraged before the portal closed...then it was quiet.

You both fell on a floor that seemed to be the top of a roof; an apartment complex. You groaned...and then he groaned. It seemed like he didn't think that he could hit back first onto a hard floor. However...you both did.

Rubbing the back of his head and looking over to make sure you were okay, he seemed to lose his face-man grin that turned into a look of worry.

"Are you okay?" the blue turtle helped you up.

"I'm okay...what are you...?" you rubbed your eyes and looked upon the features of the slider turtle. You were frazzled...he could understand, it is not every day you meet a sentient turtle.

He moved with ease.

The turtle seemed in thought before laughing slightly and rubbing the back of his head.

"I think a better question would be what is your name..." He puts his odachi back behind him before lifting your lucky charm in the other.

"You can call me Leo." he smiled at you, which was strangely calming.

"....Y/N."

For the Kendratello AU:

So, the way the feed works is that it starts with pretty realistic scenarios and ramps the hurtfullness over time up as Donnie gets used and starts to expect the fake abuse coming from his family-

Now, it's pretty clear that he can see and hear the scenarios. But can he physically feel it when a brother in his feed grabs him? (Like Raph does in the artwork u posted about this)

Since pain is all in the mind anyway (I am a scientist so I say this is fact), yes Donnie does feel that pain when the feed tells him he should!

And I will say, Kendra didn’t create the entire thing herself. She lucked into some experimental technology, and has worked to twist it to suit her needs. While she is smart (by normal people’s standards, not Donnie’s) it’s a bit far fetched to think she could make something this innovative without stealing part of the technology from somewhere else first. That’s kinda her thing.

I am currently thriving off the idea of rivals to lovers Kendratello. Specifically in a highschool au.

Because like, we have Donnie. GPA obsessed, math and robotics prodigal. If there is one thing he thrives for, it's perfection in his subjects. We're talking doing extra credit work, turning in assignments early, basically just putting his all into his work. He isn't satisfied till he is the top preforming student in a miles radius.

And then there's Kendra. She could not care less about academics, yet she is consistently scoring just below Donnie without even trying. Since a young age she's known she's smart, so why try when she can get good-enough grades without doing so.

After the two meet, a spark of lust to succeed seems to light. Kendra starts putting more effort into her assignments, eventually starting to put in effort and Donnie is equally matching her. For the both, this is the first time she is equally matched in wit.

They hate each other, like any other rivals would.

Until they get partnered up for a robotics assignment. After much arguing with their teacher fruitlessly, they're stuck working together. And... Okay maybe it's not as bad as they first assumed. And maybe they couldn't help but notice how perfectly they work together.

...

Anyway I'm hyperfixating over them, might make this into a fic if anybody's interested.

tbh I don't think Kendra did much of the actual engineering part of all those schemes to kill Don, which is why she was taken off-guard when they failed. like she did do the planning, sure, she's an overdramatic Wile E Coyote just like him, but Jase and Jeremy had to build the machines for her bc every time she tried she got distracted thinking about that goddamn frog's stupid muscles and stupid face and STUPID theatre kid voice and why the fuck did he have to meet all her standards- aaand now she's got like three different soldering iron burns. oops.

it works out fine because Jeremy is better at engineering and Jase is better at coding, she's more of an all-rounder whose talents lie in figuring out how to make disparate pieces work together, but nonetheless they did still have to suffer through her complaining about the AUDACITY of this Othello Von Ryan guy to be so annoying and so hot AND so smart at the same time. how dare he make it difficult for her to truly hate him. clearly these are acceptable grounds for murder. (she bought them both Starbucks afterwards to make up for it)

You know, I'm taking this and eating it right up!! Like I said before, I really like character development and them having a turnaround from villainy to something different. Kendra is no exception to that in my AU and mayhaps she just needs some nice people to show her the way. I was also considering to have her go into a different field when it comes to her job and I'm liking the idea I have more and more so maybe I'll stick to that.. I have also accepted the headcanon that she calls Donnie Frog whenever she sees him from now on.

watching buffy the vampire slayer and angel for the first time in 2022 I definitely noticed the unsavory parts regarding race and other cultures and I just assumed they were things that have been reckoned with by fans but apparently it’s not something always acknowledged? I am a white viewer but it really jumps out how the only slayers of color before the potentials were killed off (kendra, xin rong, nikki wood) and the first slayer is obviously supposed to be this “primitive” “savage” black woman. side characters of color like robin wood are painted as being in the wrong and compromising the mission, while a “reformed” white vampire who relished in killing these slayers of color in a way that harkens to colonialism and conquest is treated better by the narrative. and then charles gunn from angel is literally an assimilation arc that concludes with him desperately no longer wanting to be the street-smart angry black man with the muscle but instead the educated and respected black man who is accepted as the elite. these are not necessarily always intentional readings but stem from ignorance of the casting and the effort to diversify the shows that caused these implications to be made

You mentioned Kendra getting her hands on some kraang-infested technology in her desperation to one-up Donnie, what exactly was she planning to use it for and why take that risk at all?

Kendra strikes me as someone who, at her core, is both really smart and really power hungry. It’s why she immediately established herself as the leader of the Purple Dragons.

After the Purple Dragons disband and she no longer has Jeremy and even Jason to help her do her dirty work (and after the events of the movie), news of Kraang tech being stored in certain facilities for further research hits the air. Instant cha-ching moment for her because she feels that if she can wrangle and tailor it to her own needs, then who needs lackeys anymore? Plus, she would go down in history as the one who “tamed” the Kraang tech. She could be known for unlocking the mysteries of it to human kind, while controlling anything and anyone she wanted behind the scenes.

Destroying the turtles that humiliated her and her traitorous teammates would be goal number one before taking over the rest of New York in typical villainous fashion.

The official, correct ranking of male Legends from best to worst along with foolproof evidence which you can trust because I am a lesbian and I am not swayed by men of dubious attractiveness.

1: Gwyn Davies

Pros: Invented time travel so he could save the poet he spent his entire adult life pining for. Has some of the absolute best throwaway lines of S7 (with flawless delivery). Has literally never done anything wrong ever.

Cons: Not around for long enough, which was in no way his fault.

2: Ray Palmer

Pros: Delightful. Hilarious. Has great chemistry with every other character. Loves showtunes and Star Wars.

Cons: Spending billions of dollars to create a suit so you can be a superhero in a city that frankly has too many superheroes already is not a good look. Also he's way too intense in relationships.

3: Nate Heywood

Pros: He somehow manages to be the perfect combination of himbo and really smart. It shouldn't be possible. Also, I too am an overeducated nerd who is really into Tala and Maisie, so I relate to him.

Cons: He really sucks whenever he's in a relationship.

4: Jefferson Jackson

Pros: He's such a good guy through and through. He has been put through some deeply unfair things but still manages to always be a positive force. Deserves all the hugs.

Cons: His accent is ridiculous and I can't take him seriously because of that.

5: Mick Rory

Pros: Has any character on the show evolved as much as him? Probably not. He's a sweetheart. He writes romance novels. His relationships with other characters are always amazing.

Cons: We all had to watch him birth alien eggs through his nose and that can never been unseen. Way too attached to his shitty ex boyfriend.

6: Wally West

Wally is right in the middle because he is true neutral. Does he make the show better? Not really. Does he make the show worse? Not really.

Pros: Good karaoke choices.

Cons: It's really dumb that Death Totem Sara appeared to him as his ex (who he really wasn't with that long and who was very much still alive) instead of his mom (who was his only family for his entire childhood and fairly recently died).

7: Gary Green

Pros: Sweet, funny, endlessly relatable. He adds so much character to every scene he's in.

Cons: Does not understand boundaries at all. He's also very inconsistently written because obviously they didn't plan for him to be an alien from the beginning.

8: Behrad Tarazi

Pros: I enjoy the way his relationship with Zari has developed. And he's a great singer.

Cons: Weed is not a personality. They didn't bother to give him an actual personality until season 7, at which point I was already over him. I also don't like his fixation with Astra which was entirely about finding her pretty on Highcastle Abbey and has nothing to do with who she actually is.

9: Carter Hall

Pros: Had the good sense to die quickly before he could really annoy me.

Cons: Manipulative towards Kendra. Actively detracted from the 100th episode.

10: Martin Stein

Pros: Victor Garber. A+ singing.

Cons: Drugged and kidnapped Jax in the pilot. Racist, sexist, deeply selfish. He started to improve slightly but it wasn't enough.

11: Rip Hunter

Pros: Saw the potential in Sara Lance.

Cons: Told Gideon he loved her and then TURNED HER INTO A TRAINING SIMULATOR FOR THREE YEARS. He also flew her into the sun and into an atomic bomb. Lied to all the original Legends. Lied to Ava.

12: Leonard Snart

Pros: Had the good sense to die quickly. Also, I do enjoy him on The Flash.

Cons: Cruel and abusive to Mick almost constantly. Talk about kicking someone while they're down. He's an asshole to everyone, but the way he speaks to Mick is unforgivable.

13: John Constantine

Pros: He's a useful foil for some of the more optimistic Legends. Decent bisexual representation. Never met a weird unidentified substance he didn't want to put in his mouth.

Cons: He forced Charlie to face thousands of years worth of trauma, got Behrad and Charlie's friends killed in the process, and put the entire world at risk. Why? To save Astra, who he immediately forgot about and left to struggle on her own (again). He sent Desmond to hell. He abandoned Nora when she was a kid. He altered Spooner's memories despite knowing that having her mind messed with is a major source of trauma for her. Put the entire world at risk again by teaming up with Bishop. Lied to and manipulated Zari and had the gall to call it love. Also, if both Ava and Mick don't like you, you are clearly highly suspicious.

I’d like to think Donnie and Leo are sort ying and Yang when it comes to intelligence because Leo has the street smarts of a god and Donnie has the book smarts of a god but Leo does medical stuff something considered a book smarts thing despite the fact that he has no interest in book smarts so Donnie’s the right hand man and Leo just does the gross stuff or the basics and Donnie manages the less touching body stuff, For Donnie he is actually is one of the more sociable of the brothers because he is shown to be the one talking to people the most being the one that befriended April (I think you may correct me on that) he also befriended the purple dragons just not really Kendra (but she’s a bitch so) and seems to be the talker right behind Leo but he can’t spot who would betray him or not even if it slapped him in the face so Leo is the one who tells him whether or not that’s the right person to go to (neither listen to the other that much unless it’s life threatening)
