I've said it before and I'll say it again. The desire to CinemaSins Ding poetic imagery is the death of visual metaphor and the bane of creativity. Kill the impulse. The moonpool is as deep and clean as it needs to be in spite of being canonically a stillwater pool and logically full of algae and microbes. Magic cat god water, full of StarClan Magic (tm)

We do not need to see the cats fishing Rowanstar's body out, or an accurate estimate of pool depth, or its PH level. StarClan's emotions do wonderful things when miracles occur. A wizard with a big pool cleaning net did it.

STATUS UPDATES: GOING INTO 2024

2023 has been rough for me in all manner of ways but I will say it has been very fruitful with regards to my writing. I managed surpass my goal of 100k words, reaching an unfathomable 150k at present, and I’ve even managed to hit a big milestone when it comes to my following! I’m extremely grateful to all my readers, both those that have stuck with me and those who are new, and I wish I had adequate words to really express that. but going into 2024 I will likely be writing less frequently than I did this year. this is due to my own health, and a multitude of other problems that I can no longer keep on the back burner.

plenty of you have seen mentions of hospital visits and procedures on my blog, and while I’m not very comfortable oversharing about medical stuff I do want to be transparent about the fact that I will be posting fics less because of it. I’ve been in and out of semi hiatus for the better part of 4 months but I was always awful at sticking to it. next year I want to actually give myself grace, and take care of my body.

please do not fear!!! this resolution actually aligns perfectly with my writing goals for 2024. I want to focus on lengthening my word counts. I’d love to post fewer fics, but to have said fics be 25 to 50k respectively, rather than to post a lot of 1 to 15k fics. mostly I want to work on my own impatience when it comes to writing, and berate myself less for what I think I should be doing writing-wise. I will still be around on here, and I always want to talk with you guys (and read whenever the mood strikes!!), the biggest difference is I’ll have longer projects, and you’ll have to wait for them (though if I’m honest I will likely still post a shorter fic here and there lol).

I appreciate the patience a lot of you have already shown me this year, what with my random breaks and gaps between posting. you have all been so so kind and generous with your praise and I wouldn’t be here, writing and sharing, without that support. I love you all and wish you well going into the new year!!!!!

anyway. i wrote “DO IT ON PURPOSE” because when it comes to doing a whole drawing with ONLY a pen- you gotta force your brain get creative- at least practice. in other words- work with what you have. it’s basically like solving a problem every few seconds-

because sometimes my hand eye coordination glitches for a split second. or maybe my hand shook or maybe the line is actually shit looking. but instead of scrapping the thing entirely i gotta to try and make it work. ok so if my line looks like crap here maybe i can make it a Part of the drawing by making everything look messier. OR maybe i can even just. hide it!! by coloring a thicker line along it too!!

you can actually HIDE a LOT of mistakes with a pen without erasing anything. and sometimes the mistakes are part of the art- like when i see the most beautiful art online and i see an uncolored pixel. what matters is your final output not the things you cant change now or mean nothing in the big picture

honestly going from sketch to lines and rendering with a pen is about weight control (like with a pencil- sketching yk) and not beating yourself up. in order to gain the “confidence” you gotta absolutely ANNIHILATE the need for 200% perfection. because theres beauty in a mess.

anyway so. when you get the basic stuff down like “in order to to make less mistakes with pen stuff- make sure youre used to what youre drawing already!!!” or “draw/doodle stupid shit with your pen and make it (pen) a PART of you and not some scary beast (pen)

i think it all stems down to forgiving yourself and just having fun. having fun is always my motto. if you ever go “oh no i made a mistake!!!” imagine me yelling “WHO CAAARRESSS!!!!!!!! (#love #positive)” in your EAR

Halloween has only been a thing here in the recent years and more or less it's an excuse for teenagers and 20-somethings to go out partying lol (I just got back, partied a day before lol). There are events for children too of course, but trick or treating is not a thing. we have our own holiday during early spring where we dress up an go trick or treating from door to door.

It's a little fun thing and I don't think anyone is annoyed by it. The Slovene word for Halloween is Noč čarovnic, literal translation: Night of the Witches, so a lot of women like to joke that it's our very own holiday like women's day haha :D

My guess would be that, at least part of, the reason IK throws the stuff is to see how well it would do against a predator. Since throwing solid objects is the main method of defense for a slugcat.

Also, Ik would show up with the rat and the others would probably have to stop her from eating it because of slugcat instincts for survival say "smells like food, is probably food."

on her first morning in the devildom ik discovers a carton of eggs in the kitchen, and also discovers that while they are not particularly harmful ammunition, it does make the large loud creatures go "ARGH WHAT THE HELL" when she pelts them with them. even once she trusts them it amuses her so much that she keeps doing it as long as there are eggs in the house

there's a grace period between ik first arriving with the rat and barbatos just withering wherein he just stands there horrified and ik just looks at him innocently like o w o? then BANG he is out cold. while everyone else is panicking about that ik just sloooowly shuffles away (still clutching the rat) and lucifer has another dog-trying-to-eat-something-it-shouldn't moment "NO. It does expire but it takes a long long time. Like with most pure water products it's not the water itself going bad its the liner in the container leeching into the product after a long time.

for legal purposes i have to say only academically and i would never ever use it! i'm especially interested in necromancy and the like. there used to be this person--i think their name was evil craig?--who would give guest lectures on necromancy in class sometimes, but they got banned from the university after they wrecked the lecture hall summoning ketamine ape as a "demonstration". the wizard council arrested them and it was this whole thing.
