and for the tips! you've probably heard of vanishing points and horizon lines a bunch of times so i'll try to just give a quick run down of how i understand them + their uses

[2024 edit: just wanted to clarify that this third pic isn’t like a definite rule (none of these are tbf)- the horizon line can be placed at the top and still be close to the ground if you draw the grid right, same goes vice versa!]

tbh once you get the idea of how they work it gets easier to figure out where the points should be. it might help to think that the subject is what determines where the points are instead of the other way round if that makes sense? i learned a lot just by looking at storyboards for fun bc they're everywhere in them jhfkdg

also these grids aren't restricted to being only for the walls or the floor of a room- you can rotate it, put them anywhere you think you might need clarification on where the space around them is etc. just use as many as you need for whatever you need

having multiple grids (like ^ where its above and below the character) especially close together narrows the focus to what's in the middle of them as well!

another way to do this is to think of the subjects being in a box and looking at them from an angle-

and if you want you can break them down to simpler 3D or 2D shapes to see which parts have to get smaller

i hope this was clear enough! it's a bit hard to explain but once i learned not to be too hung up on accuracy (ofc to an appropriate degree) and freehanded the grids it makes it a lot more fun to play around with :)

What about garbage man eddie, living his life, headphones on the entirety of the trash pick up route. His crew act exasperated with him when he stops mid pick up to wail out some air guitar to whatever he's listening to at the time. But really? He brightens their day, always has some sort of entertainment to provide and they are thankful for him on the cold mornings when all they want to do is go back to their beds.

They are doing the usual route, are actually on the last house of the run, when Eddie just catches a movement in the corner of his eye. There's a guy running down his driveway, pulling his trash can behind him, waving frantically trying to get his attention.

Eddie lowers his headphones 'huh? what's up?', he stops in his tracks and he looks, properly looks and oh. oh. This guy coming towards him (is that kermit pyjamma bottoms? with a miss piggy shirt? and no shoes?) is pushing up his glasses and offering an apologetic smile.

'hi, hi sorry really couldn't miss the trash going out today, don't think i could fit any more in if i tried'

Eddie is still staring and stock still as the music is blaring out of his headphones. He's trying to organise his brain into compiling a coherent sentence, he really is, but there's this guy right in front of him with an obvious case of bed head, a blush across his cheeks and the most disarming smile Eddie has ever seen.

The man continues 'I guess I'll just leave this here? if that's okay? don't know how many times I've missed your guys run, think I'll have to set an alarm or something' he rubs the back of his neck and throws another one of those smile at Eddie while looking up under his eyelashes

Eddie continues to stare, blinks and just as the guy goes to turn Eddie sticks his hand out

'm eddie. y'know...just in case you need to shout again? And i've got my music going...it might help? i don't know man, forget i said an-'

and before Eddie can finish the man grabs Eddie's hand

'Steve. I'm Steve'.

Steve, his smile is warm and Eddie wants to know more. Which is exactly when the garbage truck driver starts blasting the horn at him

'come ON munson, ain't got time for you sweet talkin''

Eddie nearly jumps out of his skin, reluctantly pulls his hand back and salutes Steve before making sure he's emptied Steve's trash and hops onto the side of the truck, hanging on and waving at Steve as the driver pulls away.

His crew notice that Eddie takes his headphones off at the start of 'the Steve run' next week and if they conveniently only tackle Eddie about the missing headphones when he's in the middle of a conversation with Steve, well they like to think they are helping things along.

i cant stop thinking about how steph FUCKING SHOT pete. like yes he was fine but oh my god they’re gonna carry that forever like yes they were “fine” (ignoring what happened at the end) they lived and they get to be together but i feel like there’s no coming back from that. steph probably lays awake at night thinking about that moment, probably the worst moment of her entire fucking life, she probably feels so guilty even though in the moment she knew it was the right choice to make. that guilt will never leave her no matter how many times pete reassures her that it’s ok. pete probably secretly thinks about it too tho, i bet he can’t stop reliving the grief he felt in that moment. not only for himself, but for steph too. he knew that if he actually died she would’ve been completely ruined. that’s a LOT. and even though neither of them died they’re still grieving the fact that they had to go through that at all, they were forced into that situation when they were fucking 18, there’s no way to get over that. no matter what, that moment will always be with them, they can’t have a perfect happily ever after with that past hanging over them for the rest of their lives

bad who is ready and willing to go full scorched earth, but at the same time, knows that what he’s doing is hurting people. he knows he’s hurting who he loves, he knows he probably will have to do much worse, or at least is convinced of such. it’s not so much he doesn’t care, but more so that he cares more about results, so he’s willing to cause that hurt. doing what’s necessary - and anything is necessary so long as it gets his kids back.

but he’s hurting, and hurt people hurt people. hurt people hurt themselves. he’s taken to torturing himself as a penance for this guilt that just keeps building. he’s doing things that he knows are shocking and extreme, and it’s not showing results. every day he cannot find the kids is a day he takes personally because he feels he has failed them. he hurts those he cares about, he hurts those who are innocent, and he’s going to keep doing so - so he’s going to hurt himself to make it fair.

but he doesn’t see that his suffering is what’s causing the most suffering for those he loves. he’s stuck in this cycle of guilt and blame and unending misery, and he can’t let himself take the hands of those that are trying desperately to pull him out because he cannot face it himself.

he’s got a one track mind on vengeance and he himself is as much a target as those he’s hunting down.
