They’re calling for an official boycott of the organisation.

“By trying to paint Israel as a tolerant, diverse, and normal state, and focusing on “hatred” rather than oppression as the problem, this organization is intellectually dishonest and outright complicit. It is serving a key role in Israel’s international propaganda strategy at this time.”

but seriously if you are at all blogging about the i/p conflict you NEED to read that standing together article from that post i just reblogged. please. please please please please please. these are the people who are actually doing something about freeing palestine and have been for years. And here's the thing:

IF YOU WANT PEACE IN ISRAEL, IN PALESTINE, THESE ARE THE PEOPLE IT'S GOING TO COME FROM.

Because yeah. The way this site is spreading around uncritical posts is a huge issue (and a reason I haven't been around since October). Standing Together is doing a hell of a lot more than blogging about it. They're on the ground putting in the work. Nine days before the October 7 attack, they were in Tel Aviv publicly protesting about the systematic oppression of Arabs (not just Palestinians) in Israel.

"The global left has to be synced with what we need." Trust me, the right is. Boy HOWDY is the right synced. I have gotten more support about my Judaism from the far right than the left and it's??? kinda fucked up??? Someone who worked for Pat Robertson should not feel safer than someone dedicated to activism, but here we are. I can feel how easy it would be to be radicalized towards the right, and I'm actively fighting against it. Now imagine that multiplied by millions of people, plenty of whom don't have the same desire to do so, or feel like they don't have the luxury of safety to do so.

Seeing Hamas being portrayed as sympathetic and talked about like they had a right to commit all of the atrocities that they have is making me lose my MIND. They're a group run by corrupt billionaires who actively started this conflict with the intent of silencing the Palestinian people who have been protesting their tyranny. They have been siphoning money from Palestinians for years and this entire attack is them deliberately throwing Palestinians into the path of slaughter to distract from that fact, the same way that Netanyahu absolutely took advantage of the threat and tragedy to try and get himself off the hook for his own corruption.

Also check out the google doc linked in the article. It's not just a good way to learn how to communicate, but a very good resource for finding out if something you're sharing is worthwhile. In fact, it does a really god job of breaking down why I've felt so uncomfortable about a bunch of the posts on my dash. Some excerpts:

so when you worry about your safety you are playing into the individualistic paradigm that they want you to play into.

But just know, safety was never something you were supposed to give yourself. It was something that we as a collective were ment to give to each other. Some people sleep while others stay awake. I'm starting to see posts about this group Standing Together and it's being posted with a link and when you Google it it's like "leftist movement" and "it has 5000 supporters and growing" and like about how cool and left and worth supporting it is righy and l. o. l.

From their own website:

A society that chooses peace, justice, and independence for Israelis and Palestinians – Jews and Arabs. A society in which we all enjoy real security, adequate housing, quality education, good healthcare, a liveable climate, a decent salary, and the ability to age with dignity.

This article claims Bernie Sanders supports this party. We know he also condemned both sides and refused to support a ceasefire.

I have the 2017 charter on my phone RIGHT NOW and no they don't. It doesn't say that. They state explicitly their problem is with the Zionist occupation and not Jewish people and that they in fact understand lots of Israelis don't even LIKE your government and how you'd probably be better off under a new state that EVERYONE builds TOGETHER AS EQUALS, not built or controlled by Hamas or Israeli government but by the people.

Recently their has been a lot of discussion surrounding the decision of the BDS movement to call for a boycott of Standing Together. Today we released a statement composed by members of the Palestinian Leadership of the movement. I welcome everyone to read the statement and share with others. The decision by BDS was disappointing to many of us, but this is the time to reaffirm our values: our commitment to changing Israeli society, building Jewish-Arab solidarity, stopping the war, and ending the occupation.

i feel like for so long i've been yelling myself hoarse trying to get people to pause for five gddamn seconds and actually talk and listen to each other instead of just yelling past each other and this,,, calling standing together dishonest propaganda for daring to assert that (medinas) israel is diverse, for saying that it's important that we talk to each other rather than dehumanize each other... this is such fucking terrifying rhetoric

hi! hope this is an OK ask and I don’t mind if this gets posted for others to see links or if you’d prefer to message me privately, I’m trying to do my own research but struggling to find solid sources and not sure if I’m using the right keywords, I saw a post of yours that said JVP has platformed a known anti-semite (I’m reading up about Amin al-Husseini now to learn more about him) and that they are generally not a positive representation for the Jewish community. I’ve followed them on Instagram for a few years with very little interactions with their posts but have definitely taken in what they’ve shared from time to time and thought of them as a positive source. Are you able to send me any helpful articles/essays/posts or just whatever about why they aren’t and do you have any recommendations for other organisations and groups to support? thank you :)

hi! sorry for the long delay. i hope youre still doing your own research and aren’t relying on social media for news. i want to preface this by saying that i'm not in the US or in an area where JVP is active (that I know of) so there are definitely other people who know more about this.

JVP is a *fringe* organisation, self proclaimed jewish anti-zionists and everyone's favourite group to point to when trying to argue that anti-zionism =/= antisemitism.

unfortunately, they have a long history of promoting antisemitism. here are a few examples:

As for organisations to recommend: all of my amazing jewish mutuals have shared resources on standing together, the parents circle, truah and combatants for peace, just to name a few.

these are grassroots organisations, at heart working towards a peaceful solution for both israelis and palestinians, demanding a ceasefire, the return of the hostages and the end of war and violence. neither group is going anywhere and every single person deserves to live in peace. something that both hamas and the current israeli government have in common is that they do not want peace for everyone.

please continue to do your own research, check your sources and remember that seeing everyone as human is the first step in the right direction.
