The language of the oppressor is the default.
We have better ways to describe these demonstrations. Once people learn why there are protesters, they will understand the conditions. Fear comes from ignorance.

How can I, someone outside of Georgia (the country), help fight the foreign agent bill?
For information about brands you can boycott and the summary of what the foreign agent law entails, click on the link above, which refers to my older post.
The government's escalating use of force and intimidation techniques during and outside of protests, such as threat phone calls, jumping people in the street, paying sportsmen to physically assault people. The police force has been using methods such as physical violence, torture, tear gas, rubber bullets, and water streams.
Along with boycotting, there is a big amount of Georgians emigrating from the country, and organizing protests in other countries.
Think about the resources and skills you have that you can use to help demonstrations on the ground and spread awareness on the issue. This might include your graphic design or copywriting skills, a large social media following - aid the protesters by spreading the word.
SHARE information that might be useful for protesters inside and outside of Georgia.
And most importantly donate, speak to people around you, and attend protests closeby to where you live. Some details of protests outside of Georgia and donation links will be listed below:
List of currently known international protests:
12/05 15:00 Venice Biennale Georgian Pavilion | Venice
12/05 15:00 Piazza Garibaldi | Naples
12/05 16:00 Placa de Catalunya | Barcelona
12/05 16:00 Consulado de Georgia | Madrid
13/05 18:00-20:00 Brighton 4th & broadwalk | New York
14/05 18:30-20:30 Place du Pantheon | Paris
17/05 17:30 EU Commission | Brussels
17/05 18:30 Embassy of Georgia | London
(And keep an eye on gza.europe on Instagram, for any further news on protests in Europe, and keep an eye on your local protests even if they're not on gza.europe or listed here)
Donation links:
Shame Movement - Provides gear for protests, organizing demonstrations.
GYLA - Georgia's Young Lawyer Association, providing legal help to those detained at demonstrations.
All we ask for, is to have you fight together with us.

This #WorldKeffiyehDay I finally got to visit the last active #GazaSolidarityEncampment in the greater Boston area at my alma mater, Harvard. All the rest have been violently attacked by their administrators who have weaponized the police. Interim President Garber was recently spotted on campus with the ADL’s president Jonathan Greenblatt, and the ADL is basically an anti-Palestinian hate group at this point, so who knows how long until he uses police violence against these bright, brave young people, too.
Visiting the Refaat Alareer Memorial Library felt, quite honestly, like visiting Notre Dame Cathedral or a great museum - except this holy place is a humble monument built with love and reverence in memory of a man of exceptional warmth and grace is far more moving.
The peaceful camp demonstrated a focus on community care, honoring the intersectional nature of our fight for liberation. These students are showing us what is possible when we act out of radical solidarity. They were even making screen-printed shirts and tote bags, one of which I am now a proud owner of!
This is the first time since I learned about Harvard’s investments in Israel that I’ve been a proud alum.

HELP ABDULLAH'S FAMILY EVACUATE FROM GAZA FOR TREATMENT....
Message from organizer:
saving my brother (Abdullah)’s family to get out of the Gaza war (MEDICAL EVACUATION) & Providing the basic needs of 4 children (baby milk, baby food, and Pampers)
This is AHMED Z A AWAD, I spoke behalf of my brother ABDALLAH Z A AWAD, and this is his story:
I am Abdallah Awad 34 years old, from to GAZA and my wife Haneen Awad ; father for 4 children:
Mohammed Awad 9 years,
Ziad Awad 8 years,
Omar Awad 3 years,
Amer Awad 4 years,
Tumblr media
In the heart of the Gaza war, amidst the thunderous roar of bombs and the piercing cries of anguish, our world crumbled into dust. Our home, once a sanctuary of peace and warmth, lay shattered and broken, razed to the ground by the relentless onslaught of conflict. With it vanished our sense of security, our shelter, and our means of livelihood.
Tumblr media
As the chaos raged around us, I battled not only the horrors of war but also the silent torment of illness. Stricken with multiple afflictions, I found myself in a desperate struggle for survival, with no access to the medications that could ease my suffering. Each day brought new pains, new challenges, and the grim realization that my only hope lay in undergoing countless surgeries, each leaving its scars etched upon my weary body. Medical reports stood as stark reminders of the trials I endured, testifying to the relentless assault on my health and well-being.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But my own struggles paled in comparison to the anguish of my beloved child, Omar. His once vibrant spirit dampened by illness and despair, he fought a silent battle against the relentless tide of sickness. Time and again, he was admitted to the hospital, his tiny frame racked with pain and exhaustion, his innocence stolen by the cruel hand of fate.
Tumblr media
In the face of such overwhelming adversity, our family of six found ourselves teetering on the brink of despair. Our four children, innocent victims of the horrors of war, knew only fear, sickness, and the bitter sting of homelessness.
Tumblr media
Yet, amid the darkness, a glimmer of hope flickered on the distant horizon. Dreaming of a life free from the shackles of conflict and despair, we longed to escape to a place of safety and security, to build a future where our children could laugh and play without fear.
United by love, resilience, and the unyielding determination to carve out a better life for ourselves and our children, we embarked on a journey of hope and survival. Though the road ahead may be fraught with peril, we refuse to be crushed by the weight of our suffering. For in the depths of our despair, we find the strength to rise, to fight, and to cling to the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
Breakdown of the expenses:
✅ 2 * $5,000 adults (above 16) Hala crossing fee = $10,000
✅ 4 * $2,500 under 16 Hala crossings fee = $10,000
✅$1,000 additional Hala fees for ‘getting in the door’, power of attorney, GoFundMe cut of earnings, and extra bureaucratic expenses
✅ $3,000 housing, food, clothing, and urgent medical aid x 6 months = $18,000
TOTAL= $39,000 = €35,000
GoFundMe charges a transaction fee of 2.9% plus $0.30 per donation – we are grateful to those who add this to their donation.

I hope you will continue to support me in these very critical times.
They have already started bombing Rafah ' the only remaining shelter for my family.
If u can’t donate please at least share ❤️
Any contribution means a new life for my family .
Give them the chance to save their lives, start over, and live with me in peace.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Abdallah’s Family

Hello! I’m curious to know if you listen to Hozier? Since his music also gives literary and it’d be interesting to know what you think!
Hello! Thanks for the ask
Hozier is wonderful! I love him!
I think he's incredibly creative, and he clearly knows how to write! He also clearly knows so much about the history of music, art, international politics, and so much more. There's nothing I admire more in an artist than some real intelligence. It shows in his command of the language. I've been listening since "Take Me to Church" went viral. I was absolutely in tears listening to that for the first time.
One point I've been thinking about lately is the way he wrote "Nina Cried Power" and how it's different from the way someone like Taylor Swift name-drops in her music.
The point here is that Hozier has immense respect for the people he mentions in the song, his obvious knowledge and respect for these people is ever-present. He thematically connects them from the perspective of their own lives into the message of the song. Meaning that it is the type of song they would co-sign. It's so moving for this very reason, it's like the people in his song are singing with him. In "Nina Cried Power" he's clearly using southern-inspired gospel-esque blues to sings about the way in which civil rights activists, and those musicians who broke the chains away, sang their activism into life. It's so lovely for him to use musicality stemming from Afro-American culture to sing about the major civil rights activist and artists from the era. He's literally brilliant, and I love his perspective on how the US civil rights movement impacted Irelands own civil rights movement. He's fucking brilliant.
And this line brings me to tears, "And I could cry power/ power has been cried by those stronger than me/ straight into the face that tells you to rattle your chains." He's so compelling both in storytelling and in intercultural dialogue. Beautiful. And how beautiful it is to remind us that no matter the location, your words and actions matter- activism matters. Power is with the people.
What a writer- what a message to send. Especially these days, when so many major public figures are refusing to speak on current events. How important it is to remind the public that there is no real reason to not speak up in times of injustice.
As opposed to Swift who can only name-drop people like Dylan Thomas in relation to being able to self-deprecate. Her impulse towards self-obsession shows in how she even represents the lives of others as ultimately being about her. It shows an immense disrespect and obvious distain for the people she writes about. She clearly only thinks about others when considering some hierarchal form of self-adulation. People are either better or worse than her- however, it is always about her. Dylan Thomas was an incredibly vocal activist and revolutionary spirit in his day, and Swift puts him in a cheap shot about herself? Painful, stupid, gag. Thomas was an avowed anti-fascist during the rise of the most horrific fascist regimes we've ever seen; as such he would be horrified at being eulogized by someone like Swift who lives and breathes money and power. I wish I could back in time and unhear her besmirching his name.
Dylan Thomas would love Hozier though :) And so do I!
But anyway, I could totally write some literary criticism on Hozier, and you know what- it would be amazing because he is rich texture to dive into. His command of metaphor and mimetic technique is honestly so impressive! That actually sounds really fun and is totally on my to-do list now :)

Ron DeSantis is at it again: on May 2, 2024, DeSantis signed HB 1291 into law. This bill prohibits educational discussions about systemic and institutional racism, sexism, oppression, and privilege to adults participating in teacher training preparation programs. With very broad implications, it censors diversity, undermines academic freedom and endangering the quality of K-12 education. There are lasting consequences to what you teach (or refuse to teach) your children.

Inspired by this post by @alex-just-vibing. PaliRev values the contribution of all people to the liberation of Palestine, and we encourage you to share this around your schools or with others to give accessible options for us all to show solidarity for the Palestinian people.
[image id: an image with a white background, bordered on the bottom left and top right with green, corner illustrations, an olive garden branch drawing on the bottom right, and a drawing of a boy sitting down with a backpack leaning on him, looking downwards sadly on the top right. there is a low opacity palestinian flag behind black text reading "HOW DO I SUPPORT PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE IF I CAN'T DONATE?" below this is a list in smaller black text, bulleted with light green arrows. the list reads:
"- Wear shirts, pins, keffiyehs, anything outwardly pro Palestine.
Email your Representatives, Congress, White House. Tell the people in charge you want a ceasefire.
Talk to your local library about holding an educational night about the genocide and/or Palestinian culture.
Make schoolwork about Palestine! Writing about news? Focus on Palestine. Making questions for a test? Use Palestine as an example.
Find social media accounts for your representatives and schools, and make a fuss. Comment and @ them!
Show up to local actions (i.e. protests), join and organization, and follow Palestinian journalists! (next line) - Motaz Azaiza, Plestia Alaqad, Hind Khoudary, Bisan Owda -
Educate yourself on anti-Palestine talking points (Palestine toolkit) and how to refute them in a calm manner.
Speak up! It's scary, but don't let other people's bigotry go unchecked. You'll find that other people agree, and speak up from your example.
Don't engage with people unwilling to learn. Your goal is to educate people who are and make those comfortable with genocide feel UNCOMFORTABLE."
below this in light grey text reads "@PALIREV.WEB". /end id.]

Write to President Biden: Bring American Doctors Home From Gaza!
Bring Docs Home! American Doctors and Medical Professionals serving in Gaza need to be brought home safely! A group of American medical professionals, on a humanitarian mission in Gaza, are trapped due to Israel's latest Rafah attack. Please send an email to President Biden's staff monitored account urging Israel to guarantee their safe passage, demand the Israeli government halt its offensive and establish a humanitarian aid corridor. We need assurance that American aid workers can carry out their work without fear of attack and have the ability to return home safely.
If you live in Texas and California, then please take a moment to also call your Senators.
