Stiles slides out of Peter’s arms and pulls Peter back towards his bedroom, peeling off his shirt as he goes. Peter pulls his own shirt off, and stares down at Stiles, running his eyes over his naked chest. What he thought were tattoos before are actually Lichtenberg figures that spread across his chest, over his shoulders, and down the tops of his arms.

Peter crawls over him and presses their naked chests together, craving skin on skin contact. A shock runs through him as he realizes that Stiles’s body is cold; not cold like someone who has been outside too long, but cold in the way that a flame is warm: constant and spreading. He looks down into Stiles’ eyes and sees the endless depths of ancient and unknown galaxies, and in that moment he knows that Stiles is both Stiles and something else entirely.

“What are you?” Peter breathes out the question like a prayer.

@meggie-stardust / Wreck wrote an INCREDIBLE fic for the Steter Mini Bang 2022 and I was lucky enough to partner with her on my first fanwork for both the fandom and the pairing. I had SO MANY RESERVATIONS about joining in but I’m so happy I did, and her support was unwavering 💕

At This Truth We Have Arrived

After years of exacting revenge on the Argents for the murder of Laura, Peter returns to Beacon Hills only to be confronted by the truth that the pack has moved on without him. But the fact that everything he once knew has changed isn't necessarily a bad thing; not when there is someone like Stiles who is so full of possibilities.

“Okay, so the thing is, and I’m not criticizing you here,” Stiles says as they turn off the main road and onto a ranger access road, “but the thing is that when you got rid of all the Argents, some folks may have taken that as an invitation to, you know, take their place.” Peter slams on the breaks and turns to Stiles as the car skids to a halt on the dirt road. “Have you been dealing with other hunting families?” “Ugh, no,” Stiles says, rubbing at the spot where the seat belt tightened over his chest. “Not families. More like the odd vigilante.” “That’s still not great, but––” “Until now,” Stiles interrupts. “This one, Monroe, I think she might be a bigger problem if we don’t…” “Take care of her?” “Take care of. Murder. Po-tay-to. Po-tah-to,” Stiles says easily. “The point is she’s recruiting.”

I did the final edit/look over of my @steter-bang fic today, so here's a little snippet.

As the boy sits and frets over the multitude of creases in his tunic, Peter pours himself a goblet of wine. He doesn’t bother offering the human any, his lean frame couldn’t handle its strength, and Peter wants him entirely sober for what's to come. "Do you know why you're here?"

Stiles stills, and his face morphs with dread. "W-was it the broken vase? Because I swear it slipp—"

"No, sweet boy," Peter interrupts with a faint chuckle. "It's about your position in the palace."

Stiles exhales, visibly relieved, but then he processes what Peter said, and he goes rigid once again. It's refreshing seeing the raw emotions warring over the boy's face and body. He's wonderfully expressive, and Peter's going to thoroughly enjoy taking advantage of that whenever he can.

I'm like 85% done with this fic, I just need to get it over the finish line... I can't believe we are so close to the hand off for the first part of the @steter-bang.

“Okay, so the thing is, and I’m not criticizing you here,” Stiles says as they turn off the main road and onto a ranger access road into the preserve, “but the thing is that when you got rid of all the Argents, some folks may have taken that as an invitation to, you know, take their place.”

Peter slams on the breaks and turns to Stiles as the car skids to a halt on the dirt road. “Have you been dealing with other hunting families?”

“Ugh, no,” Stiles says, rubbing at the spot where the seat belt tightened over his chest. “Not families. More like the odd vigilante.”

“That’s still not great, but––”

“Until now,” Stiles interrupts. “This one, Monroe, I think she might be a bigger problem if we don’t…”

“Take care of her?”

“Take care of. Murder. Po-tay-to. Po-tah-to,” Stiles says easily. “The point is she’s recruiting.”

“Other hunters?” Peter asks, righting the car and continuing down the road. 

“Amateurs, as far as I can tell. She must be offering fucking dental or something because people are starting to show up.”

Peter glances at Stiles. For someone casually suggesting murder, Stiles seems completely at ease sitting in the passenger seat of Peter’s car, staring out the window as the sun sets behind the trees. 

This nudges at something that has been at the back of Peter’s mind since their first conversation: Emissaries are supposed to be neutral, and often act in a diplomatic capacity for their packs. Nothing about Stiles’ desire to hear about Peter’s murder spree, and the eagerness to which he’s approaching this potential encounter is even remotely neutral or diplomatic.
