Do you have a fav of the Pacthesis charas? I love the entire Number Days cast (especially Arlo) but I also especially like Xolga, Mr. Toko, Daichi, Jack, and Lewis :D Arlo is my best boy and Evelyn is my best girl, though if we’re talking MCs Saige’s my second fave
OOH good question!! :D
Arlo and Bryce from Number Days are my two favorite dateable options out of all of the games!! Number Days is also my favorite out of all of Pacthesis' dating sims. I love the story, I love the mechanics, I love the cut scenes, I love the character designs. All of it is gorgeous and funny asf. Lena's also my fave romanceable girl 😍😍😍
The Xolga and Mr Toko series is AMAZING, I remember crying the first time I played it. I don't even remember how old I was... I probably wasn't even a teenager yet... I think it was also my first time ever experiencing a visual novel and I was so fascinated with how complex everything was. I loved figuring out the puzzles. Pacthesis really has such a way of making her games so emotional, and with such unique twists! I really miss her games and would be thrilled to play any of them again, I'm still hunting for sites that might possibly have any of her games archived. Especially Number Days!
OHHH DAICHI!!! WOW I looooved Memory Days!!!! Daichi is such a Sweet Boi. Kai was my favorite from that one :D I also very much LOVE Emmett from Chrono Days 🥰 I remember liking Quoto quite a lot when Star Days was released, too. Oh my gosh, I remember the first time Star Days was released, it was a complete and total shock. Pacthesis returned from her years-long hiatus out of nowhere and completed the whole game and none of us had any clue. It was just... suddenly uploaded, such a pleasant surprise, I was so excited. It was such a treat to see her art again. I remember she used to have a website with backgrounds on ALL of her characters -- I wish I could find it again bc I really would love to look back on 'em!
YESSSSS you have such good taste in characters!!! I love the MCs you chose, I agree those are also my top two favorites as well :D
Have you seen her Redbubble? I really want the tree hugger merch, IT'S SO CUUUUTE!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you for the lovely message btw!!! :D

It’s Valentine’s Day so woah Valentine’s Day ‘03 Caleon fic be upon ye!
Casey had decided to make a romantic gesture this morning it was Valentine’s Day afterall and he’d be damned if he couldn’t do something for his special someone. Despite not being the brightest lightbulb in the world, Casey did have a heart of gold. He quietly snuck towards their bedroom. Casey snuck inside the bedroom and began setting up rose petals everywhere, all on the floor. He then put their wedding photo infront of the bed with a box of chocolates right next to it. Casey was waiting by the bed, holding a bouquet of flowers in his hands and he smiled softly waiting for he saw Leon open his eyes.
Leon shifted to his side grumbling quietly as he pushed himself upwards from the comfort of the bed Leon rubbed his eyes he patted the side of the bed confused “babe?” Leon muttered out sleepily “case where are ya?…..case?” He muttered in the same sleepy voice. Casey jumped on the bed and put the flowers on Leon’s lap. “Good morning sweetheart! Happy Valentines Day!” Casey kissed Leon’s cheek with a look of affection and warmth in his eyes. Leon smiled widely and gave Casey a big old kiss on the lips “awww Casey you didn’t have to do all this” Leon replied in a quiet sleepy tone
Casey laughed and nodded. “What kinda husband would I be if I didn’t do all this on Valentines Day? After all, you’re my valentine.” Casey kissed his forehead. Leon nodded as he examined the flowers they were flowers he adored sometimes Leon was amazed by the small details Casey could recall about him.The flowers were placed in a sloppy bouquet no doubt Casey did it himself but it was cute it was sweet he made something so sweet no matter how it came out all that’s mattered was the thought that counts “Alright what else did you do?…..I know you well enough that I think you pulled out all the stops” Leon commented softly “Hm?” Casey said, pretending not to know what Leon meant. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. This is it.” Casey stated feigning obliviousness
Leon raised an eyebrow as he sat up fully he picked up the chocolates and gave Casey a kiss on the cheek “aren’t you just the master of romance?” Leon remarked playfully before he stretched his back out. “Oh c’mon, don’t act so surprised. I’m just bein the loving husband that I am.” Casey said as he smirked titling his head to the side innocently. “According to my calculations that’s a true hypothesis” Leon replied, Leon next picked up with the framed photo with a fond smile “awww and here’s a picture of the best day of my life” Casey nudged Leon his Elbow “heh that’s funny cause, that’s the day I married the most beautiful man in the world.” Casey remarked with a sly grin he grabbed Leon’s waist pulling him in and kissed him gently. Leon’s smile grew wider as he quickly embraced Casey back tightly before pausing sniffing the air with a confused expression “why do I smell burning?”
Casey froze and let go of Leon pulling away a worried twitch In his mouth, his eyes widening. "I... uh.. forgot something. In the kitchen." He replied, trying really hard to force a smile despite him freaking out internally. Leon blinked in surprise as he pulled away “Casey I think you should maybe…..deal with that….not to nag you but…..” Leon said with a hint of fear in his voice “Yeah..yeah... Of course." Casey replied as he pushed any negative thoughts out of his mind. "You uhh.. stay here, alright?" He added before he frantically got up and ran off to the kitchen.
Casey ran into the kitchen and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw the kitchen was covered in smoke. "Damn! Must've forgotten to turn the burner off!" He muttered, quickly turning it off before he opened all the windows as the smoke alarm began to go off. Leon shook his head “oh that meathead” Leon muttered to himself in a love stricken tone, as Leon got out of bed admiring the rose petals laid around the room he walked over to the pairs closet and pulled out a reasonable sized wrapped box. Leon covered his ears once the fire alarm started beeping like it was a a profit receiving messages from an angry God , Leon dropped the box with a thud due to the alarms wailing much to his dismay “…..Arnold” Leon said with an affectionate sigh
Casey freaked out his mind going completely blank as he decided the best solution was to punch the fire alarm Casey watched the alarm fall to the ground with a loud thud “aw crud” Casey groaned to himself before he quickly ran back into the bedroom, his face bright red. "I uh... might've done something wrong. There's a bit of smoke in the kitchen.. uh.. sorry." He mumbled, his voice sounding a little sheepish as he stared at the floor. He couldn't help but smile though as he heard Leon calling his name in that loving voice.
Leon laughed softly “case it’s fine…..so long as your here with me” Leon replied before he got on his tiptoes to give Casey a kiss.Casey laughed pushing the murder of the fire alarm out of his mind as he bent down to be closer to Leon's height. "So long as ya promise not to make fun of me for burning down the kitchen and another thing that we don’t need ta talk about right now." He said before he returned the kiss that Leon gave him. Leon nodded though he was rather concerned about the loud thud and also that another incident had occurred apparently “well everybody makes mistakes……” Leon gave Casey another kiss for good measure before his attention snapped back to the box, which he picked off from the ground and shoved it at Casey “here here! Here here!” He chanted in a hyper tone,Casey snickered and took the box, slightly curious where this was going. "Alright, alright. Calm down there, Romeo." He said affectionately, and began to unwrap the box.
Leon gave Casey an excited smile “It’s just I know ya really needed a new one cause you broke your old one and ya were really sad about it so I wanted to make you happy again” Leon rambled on giving his usual over explanation not that Casey didn’t find that cute….it was kinda adorable Casey smiled and continued unwrapping the box, though his eyebrows shot up when he began to take note of just what was inside of it. "This is.. really generous of ya, honey."
He paused for a moment before finally pulling out a new baseball bat. "Ya.. got me a new baseball bat for Valentine's Day? Really?" Casey questioned enthusiastically. Leon nodded with a wide smile “yeahh cause I knew you needed one and I couldn’t stop seeing the kicked puppy dog look in your eyes when it broke and just….i needed to right the wrongs of this world”
Casey chuckled, placing his hands on Both side of Leon's face. "It's not yer responsibility to right my wrongs, sweetie. But I really do appreciate it." He said, kissing his forehead. Leon tilted his head to the side “sure whatever you say” Leon commented before he thought of something “wait babe what did you get me?” Leon asked softly."Huh?" Casey said, and it was like his brain just stopped functioning hearing that for a moment It was like a blue screen of death, as his head went completely blank which was a common occurrence with him. He blinked a couple of times before he finally thought of something. "Uh... Well, I... I did get-.." He paused and thought some more, his head shaking from side to side like he was shaking off the cobwebs in his brain.
This didn’t instill much other than concern in Leon’s mind which was already in concern level hyperdrive from the possible previous fire and also the other unnamed incident that probably wasn’t great either ”babe…..it’s okay take your time” Leon responded patiently. He snapped his fingers. "Dammit! I completely forgot! I'm sorry, baby! I.. I promise it was just my stupid brain going on an idle. Here, lemme go and get it, real quick." Casey gave Leon a forehead kiss before he turned around and ran out of the room. Casey was gone for about five or so minutes, and when he came back into the room he was holding something wrapped in red wrapping paper. He walked over and sat on the bed next to Leon. "Sorry for taking so long."
Leon exhaled softly “baby you don’t need to apologize for anything it’s fine your just doing your best Casey bear” Leon reassured him in a tender voice as he took the wrapped item and started unwrapping it “hmmm I wonder what this could be?” Leon hummed to himself softly Once the wrapping paper was all off, Leon could see that Casey had gifted him a fuzzy adorable care bear! Specifically a love a lot bear. "Happy Valentines Day, sugar!" Casey said, as he smiled widely confident in his gift and how it’d totally woo Leon. Leon looked at the pink love themed bear plushie and gave it a kiss on the head before giving Casey a kiss on the lips “Casey you sweetheart you!…..did a great job i couldn’t ask for a better gift a better husband or a better Valentine’s Day” Casey felt really proud of himself when he saw just how joyful Leon was. The way he was smiling really warmed Casey's heart. "Hehe, and that makes two of us. It wouldn't be Valentines Day without me spending it with ya." Casey replied in a tender loving voice before he kissed Leon's forehead.

It's 2024. I have been participating in fandom for 40 years. This is a ramble commemorating some history I've experienced along the way.
In 1984, I attended my first convention, and made a beeline for the one long row of covered tables in the Dealer's Room that was, according to the whispered lore of my friends, 'the one'. "um", I said, very suavely and coherently, except for how it was totally the opposite of those things, "I'm here for the... for the, uh. For-"
"Come around here," the man behind the table said with exhausted ennui, so I went around, and he lifted up the table skirt next to him and pointed to rows and rows of boxes underneath the line of tables. "It's all under here."
It was all under there. Along with about five older ladies with glasses, graying hair, cardigans. Flipping through slash zines and chatting in whispered voices like old friends (which of course they were). I noticed one of them had the good sense to be wearing kneepads. I was still too young and ablebodied to need kneepads when crawling on a carpeted floor, but I immediately found her preparedness skills to be both impressive and hot. "You're new," one of the ladies whispered to me--a bit warily, which made sense. "Are you sure you're in the right place?"
In the faint light (the kneepads lady had also come prepared with a flashlight, additional practicality hotness points for her) I grabbed a comb-bound book with a heavy line art piece on the cover, featuring a musclebound Captain Kirk getting righteously and enthusiastically plowed by a stern-yet-ebullient Spock. "This," I said, pointing helpfully at the cover, like I was trying to make myself understood in a language I had only the vaguest knowledge of. "I'm here for this."
Outside at the convention, most of the attendees were wearing large homemade circular pins that shrieked 'K/S is BS!!!'1. But underneath the table, we reveled in the forbidden.
***
In 1985, I fell very hard for Starsky & Hutch fandom. Which was simply referred to at the time as 'the other fandom', because there were only two. We were upstarts. Many fannish elders predicted that it was just a phase.
***
The 'circulating library' was a massive stack of barely-legible pages that smelled strongly of mimeograph ink. When you were on the list, you would write stories while you waited for your turn, and when the big box was mailed to you, you would read everything (new finds, old favorites), add your own sloppily-typed or hastily-mimeographed stories, and then mail the whole thing to the next person. For me, at the time, it was an extremely expensive indulgence--but my favorite one.
***
By 1990, slash fandom had grown enough that I no longer knew everyone in it, which was both thrilling and a bit daunting. A young woman at a convention waited for me after a panel I was part of (I think it was 'writing impactful smut' or something like that), and said she had a question she didn't want to ask in a group setting. I'd heard that before. I said that's fine, go ahead and ask; and she came out with: "Why do you have to be gay?"
I blinked. "Is... that a problem?"
She looked annoyed. "Yes, because your stories are on all the recommendation lists and in all the top zines, but if you're gay and I read something you wrote and I get hot from it that makes me gay, and I'm not gay."
"Wow." I grinned, I couldn't help it. It probably made me look very predatory-dyke-about-to-score-a-toaster. Whatever, it was enough to make her back away from me fast.
When I thought about it later that night, I wondered what it would be like not to be the only queer person in slash fandom.
***
By 1997, slash started appearing on the internet. Many fannish elders claimed it was the death knell of slash fandom, or dismissed it as 'just a phase'.
***
Anyway, I wrote all this for myself as a commemoration of sorts, but if you took the time to read it--thank you. Love you, fandom. I always will.
1 In those days, m/m fandom was known as 'slash', which grew from the fannish shorthand where 'K&S' meant a story of Kirk and Spock having adventures or tribulations or what have you, and 'K/S' meant a story of Kirk and Spock getting it on (Kirk divided by Spock or Spock into Kirk--it was mathy fannish humor and I was into it then and I still am now). Slash was decidedly unpopular in the fannish world in 1984, and there was a concerted effort to force slash authors, artists, and fans out of 'mainstream' fannish public life. Hence, under the table.
