We Need Help To Save Buddy!
Our dog had been battling cancer. I didn't share too much about it on here originally out of privacy.
Now, however...
There is a chance to save him from his tumor. But.. Not only would it require surgery, it would require radiation therapy which isn't done in the state I live in. We would have to go to another state.
And it's very expensive. It can cost $7,000, or even more in some cases.
Because the tumor is on his face it's really hard to remove all the cancerous tissue.
To remove it all might require removing part of his nasal cavity and his eye if we don't get the proper radiation therapy. We've already had surgery done on it before, and it grew back far more aggressive.
Please help us get rid of his cancer, for good this time
I am asking for emergency commissions.
Please, help me save our dog
Buddy
He's been with us in the darkest of times. He's been a wonderful, loving part of our family. He is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen in this world. And saving this animal would mean the world to me. To us. To our family.
Commissions, tips, donations, spreading the word, anything and everything helps bring us closer to saving his life. We don't want to have to put him down.
He still has so many years left. Please, if you can, help us save our dog. Every penny counts.
I have a Ko-fi. We also set up a GoFundMe, hosted by my brother. Which I will also link. We're hoping that together we can save Buddy from this awful disease.
To show you all just how much this means to me. I will reveal my face to you all. And share more photos of our beloved Buddy, from before his cancer got so bad
In this last photo, he sneezed in the middle of me taking the picture. Such a silly dog

I have to wonder how many people celebrating AI translation also complain about "broken English" and how obvious it is something was Google translated from another language without a fluent English speaker involved to properly clean up the translation/grammar.
Because I bet it's a lot.
I know why execs are all for it—AI is the new buzzword and it lets them cut jobs thus "save" money and not have to worry about pesky labour laws when one employs humans—but everyone else?
There was some outcry when Crunchyroll fired many of their translators in favour of AI translation (with some people to "clean up the AI's work") but I can't help but think that was in part because it was Japanese-to-English and personally affected them. Same when Duolingo fired many of their translators in favour of LLM translation. Meanwhile companies are firing staff when it's English to another language and there's this idea that that's fine or not as big a deal because English is "easy" to translate and/or because people don't think of how it will impact people in non-English countries.
Also it doesn't affect native English speakers so it doesn't get much headway in the news cycle or online anyway because so much of the dominant media is from English-speaking countries and English-speakers dominate social media.
But different languages have different grammar structures that LLMs don't do, and I grew up on "jokes" about people speaking in "broken English" and mocking people who use the wrong word when it was clearly a literal translation but the meaning was obvious long before LLMs were a thing, too. In fact, the specific way a character spoke broken English has been a way to denote their native tongue for decades, usually in a racist way.
Then Google translate came out and "Google-translated English" became an insult for people and criticism of companies because it was clearly wonky to native speakers. Even now, LLMs—which are heavily trained on English compared to other languages—don't have a natural output so native English speakers can clock LLM-generated text if it's longer than a sentence or two.
But, for whatever reason, it's not seen as a problem when it goes the other way because fuck non-English readers or people who want to read in their native tongue I guess.

Favorite part of your structure sig?
" this is the first time i've ever had to think about this ! i don't hold any significant attachment to any parts of my can , but if i had to choose ... perhaps the roof of my structure , since that's where the view's the nicest . "

Possible hot take. Instead of vault tracks for reputation, I would love for it to be a double sided album with the regular tracks and fully acoustic versions of every song whether it be piano or guitar or even a full string moment for ready for it
You have scooped out the insides of my brains and served them to me.

Snippet Sunday
The door swings open
The first thing you notice about your intruder is the wings. Iridescent dragonfly wings take up most of the doorframe. Your gaze follows them down to the body they sprout from. They’re attached to a rather short faefolk with a mess of purple hair and black eyeshadow that would scare the pants off a young child. (Her/Their) eyes are goldenrod yellow, searching the room until they find you.
“...You’re up. Why didn’t you open the door?”

Update on Buddy.
Hello everyone, I want to thank you all for your support.
My family and I are grateful for all of you who donated and spread the word about our beloved Buddy. You all really blew me away with the sheer amount of care and support (both financial and emotional) you gave us and Buddy.
However, I have an unfortunate update to share.
We had another appointment for Buddy, and the cancer has accelerated even more. And the treatment is going to cost far more than previously estimated.
On top of that, I mentioned before that we'd have to go to another state to get the radiation therapy for our dog, turns out, we'd have to live there for the treatment to be available for us.
So, we can't afford the treatment. Even if we could, the vets have said that his cancer has gotten so aggressive, that the radiation might not keep it from coming back again. His quality of life would worsen severely.
Despite everything we have tried, and thr help you all have offered, Buddy is beyond saving.
I really can't thank you all enough for trying so hard to help us save our dog, I can't express how much I appreciate it. I am struggling to describe how saddened I am by the fact that it ended up not being able to do more for our Bud Dog.
We will have to put him down.
I don't know when, but likely soon.
(I am sharing some photos of him pre-cancer here. I want him to be remembered for the dog he was on the inside, not the diagnosis that is taking him.)
Thank you all, for your kindness and care.
