Since we are still stuck waiting for the baby’s arrival, we decided to spend some time in nature today – on town really is a beautiful place – we did our last pregnancy photoshoot, using our usual photographer due to Caleb’s special photographic needs. As always, she does an amazing job on our pictures.

Hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer to meet our little starfish.

#i have some christmas money lying around so i guess i'm just gonna have to buy an ethernet cable #my setup (if you wanna call it that) is really not conducive to getting wired up at all #but fuck man there's no way i'm gonna just not play this fucking game it's way too fucking sick #well at least i had plenty of time to play the story lol which for the first like 80% of it's runtime it's like hey this is fun #like it's not super boring & there are actually some really cool moments sprinkled in here & there #then there's the second-to-last jin/kaz fight which was kinda what i expected the finale to be #like ok they've got their big crazy final forms & they're gonna have their big over-the-top anime fight & that's all fine i guess #but then they have one last normal hand-to-hand fight #and speaking as a long-time hardcore tekken fan that last fight is one of the best most joyful experiences i've ever had with a video game #like i've always felt that jin's transition from tekken 3 to tekken 4 was such a cool melding of story with gameplay #like in story at the end of t3 he's betrayed by heihachi so in t4 he forcibly unlearns the martial art heihachi taught him #and this is reflected in gameplay by his moveset being completely different so them coming back around to that in t8 #and reinforcing the whole theme of jin accepting his past by LITERALLY GIVING YOU HIS TEKKEN 3 MOVESET IN THE FIGHT AGAINST KAZUYA #WHILE A REMIX OF HIS TEKKEN 3 THEME PLAYS???? GOD WHAT A FUCKING SEQUENCE!!! CHEF'S KISS MWAH MWAH MWAH #and then just the lovely little moments of fanservice. obvious stuff like kaz wavedashing or he & jin doing the namco logo thing 1 last tim #but then obscure stuff like jins t3 df1 glitch & kazuyas weirdo t4 re-stun combos?? like how many ppl are even gonna know about that shit?? #they hella did not have to do that but they did & it makes me so so so happy #so yea the t8 story is like 80% a fun entertaining little romp & 20% the hypest shit i've ever ever ever seen #and also reina is the best new character namco have made for tekken since steve in t4 #it's funny cause in the whole leadup to t8 i was having a little trouble figuring out who i was gonna main #cause in t7 i spent most of my time bouncing around basically the whole cast before finally settling on julia near the end #obv no julia in t8 so i had to pick someone else & no one in t8 was really jumping out at me #lots of super cool characters that i'd already played quite a lot of but not really anyone that's like ok yea that's my fucking guy #lots of sick af potential secondaries but no main basically #then they released the reina trailer & i was like ok yea that's my fucking guy #sick design sick stage sick AS FUCK music & a bunch of mishima staples to go along with it??? #she's got an electric? hellsweep? wavedash? flash punch combo? stonehead? #plus some heihachi specific staples? demon breath? heaven's gate? iron hand? fucking HUNTING HAWK??? then yea that's MY FUCKING GUY #so yea reina fucking rules & i just wanna play her against real ppl please for the love of fuck #OH ONE MORE THING THEY DID ANOTHER GREAT JOB WITH THE MUSIC. Even after all the events of Tekken 8, I still don't believe that Kazuya and Jin hate each other that viscerally like they do Heihachi, especially Kazuya. Some of the grudges they hold against one other are personal (Jin hating Kazuya for trying to kill him in T4 when it was actually Kazuya's devil, or Kazuya trying to kill Jin because he gets in the way of his world domination plans), but they simply remain on that level - their fight against one another is mainly motivated by different goals and ideals that don't actually hold a lot of personal history between the two, because Jin had never encountered his father prior to Tekken 4, nor was Kazuya aware of his son's existence before the events of the fourth tournament.

It is more logical that their hatred for Heihachi goes far deeper than anything, because he was the only person that had a huge influence in their lives, and a very negative one, of course. With Heihachi having had backstabbed and killed both of them (Kazuya twice and Jin once), I think the writing team could have taken a chance to make a plot point where Kazuya and Jin bond over their shared resentment towards the old man and team up in order to kill him while reluctantly trying to accept one another as father/son, with Jin still being wary of Kazuya, considering he was told by Heihachi that his father was "the worst of all and rotten to the core", but becomes conflicted on the inside once Kazuya reveals the truth about himself and Heihachi in the end.

It would be an interesting concept indeed, as well as adding to the evil father trope and potentially setting up Jin's corruption arc that wouldn't lead to whatever the hell storyline in Tekken 6 was, but rather something more complex and intriguing, as the young Kazama was designed to be a flawed hero, in-between good and evil.

This small change would make the whole story a dozen times better than it is in canon and I am still dissapointed that the writers have not considered this in the slightest.

Tekken — Random thoughts

Okay, but Nina and Jin in Tekken 6? I simply love them. Tekken 6 gave (not just me but some other people too) the foundation for an amazing ship.

A respectful relationship that started with work, and the Scenario Campaign showed their closeness and confidence, without losing their professionalism and focus on Jin's goal.

Story-wise, Tekken 6 is… interesting, to say the least. I don't know, I still have mixed feelings about the direction they gave Jin's development and what he was like since Tekken 3.

I can't say that I like that in Tekken 6 he became a war criminal and did such aberrations, when Azazel's problem could have been addressed in another way; because actually, I don't like it at all.

But on the other hand, I don't totally hate the concept itself. I just find it a little hard to digest.

What I can save (or at least try to) is that, from a personal opinion, I don't think he did it because it's the destiny of bearers of Mishima blood to be corrupted. Because, in fact, I don't think Jin was corrupted by having Mishima blood or by the influence of the Devil Gene.

I think he did everything out of his conscience. A twisted, fucked up and terrible way of doing things, but by conscience at the end. Because if we go to the fact, he always struggled and fought against the influence of the curse, and tried to keep it at bay as much as he could (in despite of his T3 and T4 endings, in T5 vs. Hwoarang, in T7 in the desert)… well, in the end of Scenario Campaign we could see how Jin consciously used the power of the Devil Gene (without turning into Devil) to defeat Azazel.

It's a bummer that they "ruined" Jin like that, but it was an interesting chapter in Tekken history.

Anyway, before starting to wander more than necessary… I know that Tekken: Blood Vengeance and the Tekken Comic by Titan Comics aren't canon either, but Nina and Jin roles in each one are a good addition for this dreamy ship (especially in the comics).

And no, my point isn't that the base of the ship has to be that the woman has to do the whole work and being his support 24/7 (a thing that usually happens in the Japanese culture: the female character being just a bland sidekick with no depth and the protagonist's love interest; just as in mostly of shonens, for example), or because it's just the job she was hired for… But because both of them could relate to each other: both suffering child abuse from a close family member, both having family members they dislike, both having lost a family member they loved, both having suffered and survived Ogre's attack, and both having a mostly lonely path in life… because they know they're not the best company and their methods are very questionable.

Feelings aren't part of their lifestyle and not allowing themselves to open their hearts (because having feelings means their goals be compromised), is a fact. And it's a fact that a ship like this will never happen in canon, yet I always loved their genuine mutual trust and respect. It's far away from the Japanese culture's typical cliché of the badass lonely boy and the cute submissive girl who has a huge crush on him, is ghosted during most of the series and wants to "save" him but just meddles, resulting annoying most of times. It reminds me to someone… Wait!!

Alright, speaking more seriously now… Tekken 6 turned 14 years some days ago (especifically for PS3 and XBox, on October 30th), and this was a good opportunity to talk about an underestimated and unapreciated OTP.

I'm very intrigued about what's going to happen in Tekken 8, and the path of both of them when Bamco already revealed the roster's bios. Nina working for Kazuya doesn't make sense if we take into account her relationship with Jin during Tekken 6, the fact that she failed on purpose for Lars and Lee to protect Jin from Heihachi and... taking as bonus the non-canonical comics and BV.

Possibly developers will take the path of Street Fighter x Tekken's story? Nina working with Kazuya but undercover, for Jin's instructions? Because no one can deny how amazing was Jin trusting someone since the beginning, spending time with that someone and being able to share thoughts... even if it's just professionaly.

P.s.: I feel the luckiest guy alive, since I have the privilege of writing this wonderful ship on Twitter... I mean, X. My dearest friend @carade0jete and I roleplay as Nina and Jin, respectively, since almost five years. An amazing journey that still goes on and will last until that app is either ruined or closed by El*n M*sk. Love you, bb. ♥️✨

Hello congregation, today I bring you pointless lore about my sona for my own purposes and yours

Feel free to gimme your thoughts or something, I'm mostly putting this here for my own purposes but without further aDOOO

LORE

T-4 or (Terminator mk4) is a robotic mafia member in the Possibilisphere universe, and serves as my main self-insert/sona for the story!

In-universe, a while before the events of the story, a soldier on shore leave to visit his family was visited by the mob, whom he owed a considerable amount to. He went missing after that, but when the mob went looking for his family to pay off the debt instead, he'd cleverly told them to skip town before they got to him.

Instead, using an illegal, but unnervingly common practise on their planet, the mob put the mind and consciousness of the veteran into a blank terminator robot, erasing his memory and creating, in their eyes, a perfect worker.

What they didn't expect was for the droid to immediately latch on to the idea of being a massive dipshit, and cost them WAY more than they'd ever been owed by the veteran.

FUN FACTS/TIDBITS

He uses the mobs infinite budget VERY liberally. All the gold he wears, owns, and eats is paid out of their pocket, which he personally claims as his own. Because of him, the mob has basically gone out of business, and has abandoned him, much to his whimsy.

The visor on his face is a screen, as are his teeth. Terminator droids such as him were designed with this feature so they could display a country or planet's flag on their face, making them easily identifiable. He uses it to display a constant gold texture!

Using the budget, he's bought a lot of lavish stuff. He has an underground safehouse "apartment" decked out in gold and mahogany, along with his secondary business suit...

Which is a mech, complete with molten-gold launcher.

SONA DETAILS

Due to the way the Possibilisphere as a universe works, a lot of T4's success are because he's my sona, in a weird way.

The Possibilisphere, for the uninitiated, is a pocket universe comprised of the thoughts and memories of 100 people, all condensed, fictional or non-fictional, and made a reality.

Because of this, and T4's role as a sona, he isn't really meant to fail, unless it's comedic!

This is a double-edged sword, though, as he also isn't allowed to do anything that majorly affects the universe, and will naturally IMMEDIATELY fail if he ever tries. He's meant to be a stagnant, infinitely rich means of expression, and he'll remain that for his entire robot life!

I don't mind the TFS parodies and can even find them funny sometimes but god I hate how certain fans treat the abridged series like it's objectively above/more valid than the source material. It's the same crap with the snapcube sonic dubs.(honestly the snapcube stuff is more annoying. Tfs at least somewhat adapted the stories whereas snapcube was just mindless crudity) people nowadays just love to hate the official material.

I don't have any resentment towards Team 4 Star, all they ever wanted to do was make a funny parody series to make people laugh.

The problem definitely comes from people who watch a funny youtube parody video INSTEAD of watching/reading the actual original story that it's parodying, and then acting like they're "in."

It's like people just want to be part of a community (for some fucking reason) but want to skip the "hard part" of ACTUALLY ENGAGING WITH THE THING THE COMMUNITY IS BASED AROUND. So they see parody videos like T4S and Snapcube as a cheat. "Yeah I'm totally a Sonic fan, I've watched the Real Time Fandubs a dozen times! Played the games? I mean who has time to do that, my PC can't run those anyway, and come on the video games aren't really even important are they everyone says they suck anyway!"

To them Sonic, Dragon Ball, any piece of media really, is just a meme to laugh about on social media. They are not my peers. And I don't care how cringe it is because those stories are important to me. They define my childhood. I would not be the person I am today without those stories. I get angry at people reducing Tails to a whiny emo teen like he is in the Real Time Fandubs or reducing Gohan to a bundle of anger and daddy issues like he is in DBZA because those characters inspired me as a child.

It's upsetting to say "this is important to me" and then be told "lol why do you even care those stupid things don't matter" and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

So ‘The Dying Light’ is the original ww2 story that I’m writing. It’s very much still a working progress but I can post a few snippets of a few bits I have written. The two parts bellow are from two different men. The first one is a T4 medic in the 2nd Rangers Battalion and the second is a RAF pilot of a Lancaster Bomber crew.

“I had never seen a man so disfigured by his ordeal that you could not see where his limbs should have been. Guts spilling out violently onto the sand in a mass of flesh, blood seeping through the small tears of the skin, draining into winding channels in the sand and leaving the beach awash in red. Some men prayed in death, some slipped away silently but the vast majority on the beach screamed for their mothers as they held on desperately to life as it slipped away from them. I will never forget the sounds of their cries and while all my physical wounds healed with time and patience; the injuries to my mind was something that left me scared beyond even my own recollection.”

“The thrumming roar of the engine erupting to life always brought a great sense of comfort and an impending sense of fear in unison. This job, while rejuvenating your youth through the exhilarating flights, aged you with each passing moment spent in the cockpit, because after every successful landing you were left with the feeling that although you had rid the world of some evil that night you had also robbed a family of someone they held dear.”

long time no see

I diagnosed hyperthyroidism in a patient who was just admitted for a hip fracture so that was cool. HR was 130s so I figured it was just due to pain and some post-op anemia but it persisted after that was resolved so I dug deeper into her chart and she's been running that high for at least a few years. Someone even had the foresight to order a TSH/T4 in that time but it's never followed or mentioned again. It was wildly abnormal, so I checked it again and even more abnormal.

Ordered a TRAb and checked with cardiology to make sure I wasn't missing something else, they took it upon themselves to talk to endo. Next thing I know she's on propranolol/methimazole and her HR is riding in the 80s. Discharged her to endo follow-up.

Moral of the story: for better or worse, we operate in a swiss cheese model and it can work well if you accept that (by minimizing assumptions that something has been evaluated)

Nothing too special tho, its just more cuts and angles from the nyc showdown. But with kaz and jin being located front and center in the frame and also being on different grounds (kaz high jin low), those might introduction shots, and I am reminded again that those two characters NEVER HAD A SINGLE INTERACTION BEFORE (with the one in t4 barely counting) so this is pretty huge. For me. It also convinces me that the nyc father and son showdown takes place very pretty early

Also, kazuya being so close and likely stepping off of the burning chopper is another point for my "he was in there leaving nyc before jin send it crashing down" theory

other cuts. the jin one isnt too special for me as it might be seconds before they start the fight, but the kaz one (while meaning nothing without motion) has a weird expression and also this kinda angle is used when characters are speaking back and forth, so again: no prior interaction between the two -> they might be talking here -> huge.

Gonna bet everything on this one being after (or even before he takes flight) jin took kaz's face and crashed it down a 50 stories high skyscraper

And finally, some story description(?):

"The destined Kazuya vs Jin battle is just the tip of the iceberg when playing the story. And it's part of a much bigger narrative than just father vs son!"

Oh dope dope dope. That plus "A New Saga Begins" means they're both safe in this game. Also Please Let Them Get Along at one point.
