Work-in-Progress Wednesday
I have been in a bit of a writing slump lately, but fret not, I am back, baby. Today, we have the lovely, the beautiful, and stunning Ralof who meets...Taarie and she completely roasts him. (As she should.)
Tagging: @oblivions-dawn, @dirty-bosmer, @inkysqueed, @skyrim-forever, @umbracirrus, @sylvienerevarine @changelingsandothernonsense @ladytanithia @bougainvillea-and-saltwater , @bostoniangirl21 , @vivifriend , @theoneandonlysemla and anyone else who wants to join me on this crazy endeavor. I don't bite. Come share your words!
Solitude, the bustling metropolis and once capital of Skyrim, is too busy for Ralof’s liking. Why did he decide to follow Elisindir here again? A red blush creeps up from under his collar as he remembers the feel of—
Not now. He swallows and bites his lip, his eyes flicking back and forth across the bustling market square. It is almost as distracting as Sentinel. Produce to the left, expensive dyed fabrics to the right. Would Dahlia like some of the embroidered silks? Ralof shakes his head. That is not what he is here for, and he is becoming too distracted. Perhaps if there is time later he can peruse the wears outside the stall in front of Radiant Raiment, but he has more important things to do.
“You’ve never seen a bath before in your life, have you?”
A voice calls out to him in the crowd, and when he turns to look, he can see a bored-looking Altmer woman filing her nails as she leans against the eaves of the clothing shop. “Me?”
“Yes, you. Who else would I be talking to?” She clicks her tongue at him as her eyes scan down his body. “I don’t see any other men around her dressed in rags which look right about to blow off of him at the slightest breeze.”
“I take offense to that. High King Ulfric—”
“Blah, blah, blah. All I hear is whining. You’ve wasting valuable time which I could be using to help you when instead you choose to argue with me.” The woman leans forward, nodding down at the many colored fabrics before her. “I saw you eyeing some of these. If you happen to have a wife and wish to keep her—”
“I—I, um,” he shakes his head, but finds himself walking over to her stall anyway. How is it that this woman is doing this? “Well, wife, no, but a friend and perhaps—”
“I don’t really care what your story is. All I care about is alleviating the eyesore from my current vista…and the the coin jingling in your pockets, of course.” She gives him a smile which doesn’t quite reach her eyes. “Taarie, a pleasure or something like that.”

Taarie, to Endarie, after seeing Elisif the Fair: She was literally one split end from cutting her own bangs.

Day 25 - Gossip
Taarie smoothed the fabric out with her hand, looking at Natalie from the reflection of the mirror and studying her complexion. "Now, this is an autumn yellow. It looks-"
"Not as good as the summer yellow," Endarie scoffed. "It doesn't harm you, but it certainly doesn't benefit either."
"She's right. You can pull this off - if you're satisfied with not achieving your best."
Before Natalie could acknowledge the consensus, Endarie rolled her eyes and clicked her tongue in annoyance, her attention concerned with other matters, "Like that homely Evette San. She's to be attending a meet with Jarl Elise, and for someone who makes a Solitude-defining wine, she seems quite happy to present herself in the Blue Palace in autumn green."
"She never took our advice?" Taarie questioned as she removed the collection of yellows and replaced them with a set of blues. Based on how the others were laid out, the first fabric in the set was assumed to be the summer variant. Endarie raised a brow as she examined how the shade appeared on Natalie.
"No, she didn't. Suppose she thinks it doesn't matter." Endarie tapped the fabric as it lay on her client's chest, "You certainly look better in brighter shades. It adds to your natural glow."
Natalie merely nodded, observing just how much of a difference each shade made to her countenance. She knew there was some sort of truth to these analyses, but to see it on herself was a different view entirely.
Taarie turned over the summer blue fabric to compare the winter shade, a deeper blue. "With Evette's lack of sense, I doubt she could be pinned as Bolgeir's new mystery outlet for affection. He strikes me as a debonair man."
"Winter shades are much too dark for you," Endarie declared, quickly flipping the fabric to move onto the spring blue. "They drown everything on your face out. Perhaps Bolgeir prefers those that complement spring - something Evette certainly does not."
"Unlike you, Natalie. This blue is quite good on you, even if it is a yellow shade."
"It's much too bright," Endarie needled.
Taarie shrugged, flipping the fabric once more to see the autumn blue. "I think it suits her well, sister."
Elliott leaned closer to Blóð, keeping his voice hushed as the shop was small enough as it was, "Fancy clothes and all the juicy city gossip, ay? This would be perfect, if not for all the…y'know, backhandedness."
Blóð cracked a smile, whispering back to him as their attention remained allured by the exquisitely intricate jewelry out on display, polished gold and variously cut gems properly enticing. "I've learned to push their sourness to the back of my mind."

I want to know more about Taarie!! Is this someone he keeps in contact with regularly? Or more of a casual contact he stops by to see when in the area? Does he care about Taarie or simply use them for a bit of pleasure now and then? How does Taarie feel about that?
Quanalil's relationship with Taarie is definitely a casual thing, and she is someone he largely only stops by to see whenever he finds himself in the area of Solitude. How much he actually cares about her is debatable, and his answer changes depending on who is asking.
Regardless of what he says he feels or thinks he feels, he would be mildly upset if she were killed, and would definitely feel jealousy if he were to find her in a relationship with someone else. He can be a bit possessive, and considers Taarie to be his.
I think Taarie might believe he cares more about her than he actually does, but she knows he's not committed to her. She wishes he'd write to her more, as every time he leaves she can't be sure he'll ever come back, and that's somewhat upsetting no matter which way you slice it.
Neither of them are really in love with the other, but when he's around he's rather suave and usually brings her a gift, so she lets it continue. If someone genuine were to show a true interest in Taarie, she'd probably drop 'Lil for them pretty quickly: he's not exactly true husband material.

Coming across a Thalmor group in Skyrim is really odd when you have Wintersun (it adds more benefits to the Divines and other religions) and it honestly raises the question-
Why are we railroaded into a fight with them? Granted, the Thalmor would probably pick a fight just because you look at them funny, but wouldn’t it have been neat if you play an Altmer, your character could say they worshipped Auriel or Magnus? And they were let off with a ‘excellent, now mind the regime and get lost’ warning?
Or a Dunmer could say the Three Daedra (or the Tribunal, you can’t tell me after a few thousand years of worshiping them the Dunmer immediately gave them up, regardless of proof of two of their known deaths.)
But, no, Bethesda couldn’t give us THAT much roleplay anymore, could they? Fetchers.

As soon as he lays eyes on her, it's as though the fog has lifted somewhat, and he feels his breath catch in his throat. His heart pounds in his chest, and though the feeling it brings is an uncomfortable one, it's...not necessarily unpleasant, either.
In fact, the more he thinks on it, the more he comes to feel that it might even be enjoyable.
...She truly was beautiful, wasn't she. More-so, even, than he recalled from the fragments of memories that had bubbled to the surface of his mind over these last six years. (Or had it been even more than that? He didn't know, anymore.)
It was no wonder he'd once sought to make her his own. And she would be. She was.

So long as he could pull this off.

"Looks like we need a muzzle for Tahariel's rabid dog! Better stop while you're not ahead or you'll start foaming at the mouth again." She'd offer a leash but she's sure that Tahariel would only abuse it in this verse. Yori would probably be into that though.
Ruvi sees Yori on dash and immediately rises from the depths to sneer at him

I'm going to make a post about my headcanon that Taarie from Skyrim is autistic.
Firstly we know that while Taarie explains why she's 'rude' to you (she's trying to be nice and genuinely doesn't seem to understand that she's coming across as rude), her sister is genuinely rude to people. Most Altmer seem to be like that, so Taarie is probably just masking, having learned to mask through copying the people around her (her family who were most likely rude as fuck to everyone), and that's on top of the usual Altmer rudeness/snottiness that seems to be completely socially acceptable among them.
When you try to talk to her during Rogvir's execution she says "excuse me, I'm trying to watch a traitor to the emperor loose his head" and she says it quite rudely but honestly I think she didn't realise how she was saying it and was trying to be polite so she said excuse me so she didn't come across as being rude.

Taarie: Is she a youth medium?
Marcurio: Like a child psychic? No. Sissel isn't strong in the mystic schools. Erandur is great for lotto numbers if you don't tell him why you want numbers though.
Taarie: No. The robe size.
Marcurio: Oh.
