Uglydolls Grab-bag!

I found influence after gawking at stationery stickers from the 70s-80s era: Repeated saturated yet cheap colors, characters drawn in non-exact canon just for the heckuvit, and on occasion the poor cutting job of the stickers themselves! Something about it made me want to try it on the characters lol

Not sure if I got it right (or even close), but they were still fun to draw. I want to draw more involving the standard Perfect Dolls interacting with the Uglys, but we’ll see what happens. Turns out my insomnia wasn’t the only culprit in my lack of motivation lately. Trying to narrow down the suspects...

📢Your name is Mandy.  📢You’re a Polymath. Slash-Model.

Each Perfect Doll is assigned a unique code based on their job profession. Depending on the code, you have access to an exclusive accessories collection. For example, if you have a Perfect Doll that’s a Scientist/Model, then you can buy a science room, coat, a lab kit, etc. But that’s it.

Mandy is Special Edition with a Universal code, commemorating the brand’s umpteenth anniversary. All Perfect Dolls have a natural drive to engage in their professions, and as a Universal doll Mandy is the most ambitious and privileged. She’s a polymath, and she has admittance to every collection to fuel her.

But in order to have FULL control over the dolls, Lou puts it in all their heads that it’s more important to look of high quality condition while in Perfection. If they’re not 100% perfect externally, then humans will deem them worthless and will immediately toss them regardless of their talents. Fully engaging in their professions instead of practicing etiquette would hinder their quality. The dolls were thus forced to suppress their given passions rather than embrace them- at least during training hours.

This restriction affected Mandy the most; the drive that other dolls have is a mere fraction of her own and being forced to control it, act flawless, filled her with insecurity. What made things worse was that she was under frequent supervision of Lou because of her elitism. She was very much pressured to keep up with appearances (that’s not even in reference to her myopia)!

Luckily once the ol’ tyrant was dethroned, Mandy was able to explore her talents safely without judgement. Whenever she’s not by her kid’s side, she returns to Imperfection where there’re a million things to do that are even outside of her brand. And her rekindled ambitions just burst out the proverbial seams!

You go, my little princess! :D :D
