Sketchdump of some assorted things from my art folders
some differences between Southern Icefield Longneck/Sprangyroo and mainland Longneck/Sprangyroo
a bunch of Beastclan characters I never got around to using
baby Mith as grubs concept
some assorted Centaurs because they're my favourites to draw
the initial ideas for my Plague Serthis before I decided I preferred to mask the bottom of her face instead of this hooded version
and the first attempts at my Faun character but I decided I didn't really like either of these

First three pages of A Guide to Dragon Society by our dear friend the Raptorik, Zar-Eyl! To call it a guide is... Generous, it’s closer to a collection of stories. Zar-Eyl sure enjoys himself in this journalist work though! Click for higher quality: it’s kinda fuzzy and difficult to read as is.

I threw together a little reference on google slides HERE of all the beastclans and other sapient species in Sornieth. it includes their descriptions, and I made bullet points in the speaker notes of the implications that I drew based on them.
I love all the different species and am excited to see how they are developed, like how the harpies got new lore. I'd love to hear people's additional headcanons and lore revamp ideas for these species!

TRAVELS with TALONOK
A speculative fiction zine about Talonok from Flight Rising by me (BatCrooks) and @deer-rising! You can see the whole thing for free here: FR Forum Thread: https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/cc/3165773/1 and/or you can throw me a tip by buying a high-quality .pdf for $1+ PWYW here: https://batcrooks.gumroad.com/l/talonok Thanks for reblogging this/commenting on the thread! This has been a huge project and I’m very proud of how it turned out.

hey i noticed on your post about Gale + friends, you mention Gale is ‘mapping out’ the North-Plague Talonok dialect, and ik it’s just lore and i’m overthinking it but out of curiosity is it like a sociolinguistic discourse analysis or like a etymological analysis or something else? - 🦇
Oh if you could see how I grinned reading this!!
It's etymology, with a notable reliance on comparative linguistics (both with other Talonok dialects, and with various local languages for loan words) bc Talonok in general tend to be nomadic communities and Plague flocks especially so, so they don't have extensive written records and rely heavily on oral tradition
Hence also Gale's passion for the Proto-Talonok project, since it's overall a very related topic that he can contribute to from the Plague side of things!

So I might do it during the christmas break busabouds Tired of linking dragons and saying their descriptions are hella outdated or that they’ll have one eventually *Looks at dragon, they’re 3 years old*
Not to mention a majority of the images used in the bb code desc are broken for some reason

Outta curiosity, for y’alls shapeshifter beastclan members, what modern dragon breed do you associate with each beastclan?
For me it’s these:
Centaur - Obelisk
Dryad - Nocturne
Harpy - Skydancer
Longneck - Tundra
Maren - Guardian
Mith - Fae
Serthis - Spiral
Talonok - Wildclaw

First initial doodle of my Beastclan Nature reps... I'll probably still fiddle with these designs a bit, but it was just nice to get them out of my head and onto a canvas finally xD
Also friendly reminder that it's the last day of Greenskeeper Gathering, so spend those last few leaves, buy those skins you're still after, and start any last festival brews you need to!

Hey you ever think about how Talonok are canonically only slightly larger than Faes.
Because I do.

hey! does anyone have some kind of list of all beastclans/sentient creatures (idk who exactly in-lore is a beastclan sorry) in Flight Rising??  So far I have (under cut lol):
- Harpies - Serthis - Maren - Dryads - Centaurs - Fauns - Longnecks - Sprangyroo - Kitsunes (there are both bipedal and quadrupedal kitsunes. idk what to do with that info.) - Raptorik - Aviar - Manticore (but only some -- howler manticores aren’t sentient, I don’t think.) - Corven - Talonok (BTW are aviar/corven/etc types of the same entity? Like, is corven the equivalent of dunhoof? FR lore buffs let me know) - Sphinxes (i think id have to check)

in the version of sornieth in my head, beastclan phylogenetics is very disconnected from what you'd expect. the nearest living relative of the serthis is centaurs; longnecks' closest cousin is miths. the two talonok species are at opposite ends of the beastclan family tree, with corven sharing an ancestor with harpies and aviar and raptorik, suprisingly, being most closely related to maren
