We came up with these headcanons when we were first setting up the blog a year ago, so let's post a handful of muses' shower habits/quirks!

Tataru is the type to use all of the hot water, but since she pays for it she doesn't see any problem. She has a waterproof notepad for taking down designs, has no problem belting if she decides to sing, and talks at full volume/shouts at people outside the door if she thinks of something.

Estinien takes a minimalist, efficient approach to bathing -- essentially, what would have been taught in the Ishgardian military. Warm water, if any at all, is a luxury not often afforded. It's in and out with only a focus on combatting what could lead to infection or illness.

Y'shtola doesn't have any showering-related quirks, but she'll sit in a bath for an hour and zone out. If she gets a song stuck in her head enough, she'll likely hum it -- and be annoyed that she did.

Thancred does the 80's hand-on-the-wall shower because he is exhausted (or maybe hung over). Likely won't sing, either, unless someone is in there with him.

Urianger is an active thinker in the shower, often mumbling to himself as he ponders whatever is on his mind. He doesn't really think of his body while washing it.

Alphinaud is a singing-in-the-shower type! So long as he is in a good mood. He prefers his showers be heated, thank you; he will take one if it is not but he will be miserable. Also, Alisaie knows he sings in the shower, so he won't if he thinks she's in earshot and will make fun of him.

Alisaie sings in the shower, too, but not loud enough that anyone could actuallt hear her. She isn't too bothered by showers that lack hot water, so long as she gets clean. She always washes her hair (that's her rich girl thing) and has her own shampoo bar in her travel pack from home.

Krile would sing in the shower on occasion. She takes showers to feel clean and relax, but not overstay longer than necessary. She takes her time with the process and enjoys it.

Lyse is full-on tone deaf, happy singing in the shower. She acts out things and dances if there's room, and has full on arguments with herself in the shower out loud. Cleaning herself has to also be accompanied by an activity. She wouldn't mind communal bathing and isn't too hard-pressed about being nude in front of others (now that she's no longer disguised as Yda).

Ryne sings in the shower, but usually forgets the lyrics. While she can be efficient, she takes more time to herself post-Shadowbringers. She will quietly do the thing where one piles their hair high with shampoo against the wall and giggle to herself. Now that she has her own appearance, she has more interest in styling herself.

G'raha, as a young man, would commit himself to efficency. He's an adventurer (historian), so that means he would cold water showers in camp! It's part of the lifestyle! As the Exarch, especially as he gets older, he would take this private time to reflect and find himself partial to nice-smelling soap. As a Scion, he would continue these habits, and likely add in singing the latest song he heard while Probably in the Seventh Heaven bar outside the Rising Stones. His locs require a special rinse, so sometimes he'll have his head/ears wrapped in a scarf, which makes him sing really loud unintentionally. Alisaie hasn't picked on him for it...yet.

Ysayle does not sing in the shower, but she does stand under the water and relax. In her role as Lady Iceheart, she did the efficient-camp-shower situation, but takes her time now. She thinks ten minutes in the shower is being excessive. She does not shave.

The proposal

Maybe I'm not really good at this, English is not even my first language, I’m not capable to describe scenes, my vocabulary is quite poor and is also the first time I wrote a story in my non-native language. Still, I hope you readers will like it, and appreciate my efforts and, especially, my story.

Just a little bit of background.

My wol's name is Mackenzie, he is 27 years old and he started to traveling alone at the age of 17. He is for 3/4 hyur and for 1/4 miqo'te. His physical appereance is more similar to a hyur, whilst his behavior is totally of a miqo'te. His mother’s name is M'eva and his father’s is M'avrick. He has 3 simblings: M'illa (almost 4), M'raly (16) and M'ishan (18).

From time to time, when he is under heavy stress - or actually when he wants it - he may change his physical appearance: the pupils of his eyes became thinner and vertical, he sprouts the tail and his ears transforms into that of a miqo’te. Fortunately most of the time he is sufficiently able to control his transformation, and this is why only his family and his closest friends know about this.

His Miqo'te name is M'kenzie.

In the past he had a troubled relationship with G'raha, but after the events of Ultima Thule, they are now an actual couple.

G'raha entered the Rising Stones with low ears and fidgeting nervously. Tataru couldn't help but smile the moment she saw him. "G'raha!" She said running towards him.

"Hello Tataru, are you free? May I ask you for a favour?"

"Well, straight to the point!"

"I apologize, I... really need help for a very important matter."

Estinien was in a corner of the room, leaning against the wall doing absolutely nothing. "Don't ask favours to Mistress Tataru, you'll regret it."

"Sir Estinien: hush. Please, G’raha, go on."

"Right, thank you. Are you perchance in contact with a good jeweler?"

"Oh, I'm in contact with more than one. For example, there's a friend of mine that works in Ralgr's Reach and that is also a good enchanter. I can ask him to make you whatever you need."

Estinien made the error to interrupt them again "Don't trust her, this will not ends well."

"Sir Estinien, if would you be so kind to LEAVE us alone." She said glaring at him. A shiver ran down his spine and the Dragoon rushed out of the room without looking back.

"So, where were we?" Said the lalafell smiling.

"Your friend in Ralgr's Reach. But, well, I'm not looking for something so complicated, I just need an artisan for a personal article."

"Alright, for this kind of items I know a merchant very furnished in Ishgard."

"Uhm, no. How can I put it, I need someone who can craft me something customized." Tataru stopped to think for a moment. "Oh, yes," she said with a glint in her eyes "I know a person in Limsa! She is a very good friend, and very brillant! An artist, to put it mildly! She can craft everything you want, but if you ask me, her masterpieces are rings, and–"

"Yes! Great!"

Tataru stared at him inquiringly  "What are you plotting?"

"Me? Plotting? That's...absurd. Absolutely preposterous."

"For the twelve! You want to propose to Mackenzie!" said Tataru aloud.

"Shhh, there's no reason to let all Mor Dhona hear."

"You want to propose!" She repeated in a lower voice.

"Yes, that's the plan."

"Let me handle this!"

"Beg you pardon?" The miqo'te looked at her confused.

"It'll be great!"

"Are you sure? I didn't know you were an expert of... celebrations."

"I'm an expert of everything, little cat. Besides, I'm really good to make people says "yes"." She replied with a grim on her face.

"Well, you make a point. I don't know what to say except thank you. Ahem, I would much appreciate if this could remain just between you and me."

"Of course! Tell me, do you want some kind of incision inside the ring? Perhaps your names, or a phrase?"

"An incision, you said? I had not considered that. But, probably a phrase is more, uhm, romantic?"

"Hehehe, I think so. Well, I'll leave you a moment to think about it..."

"No need, I have it. Sort of."

"That was fast."

"Together across time and space" said G'raha blushing.

"’Tis really sweet.” she said with a big smile. “And for the shape?"

"I thought of something delicate, white gold with little light green gemstones intertwined in thin gold strings."

"A very good choice! I'll contact her at once and I’ll tell to realize a few designs. I'll keep you updated."

"Thank you again, Tataru."

"Everything for the future husband of my friend!"

G'raha started fidgeting again, red in the face matching the color of his eyes. After saluting her he made his way to the exit, but while he was leaving the hall he bumped violently into Mackenzie who was just opening the door. "Raha!" said concerned the warrior if light, putting instinctively his hands on his boyfriend’s hips. "Are you hurt?" G'raha grabbed Mackenzie's shirt, almost trumble for hitting him. He sank his head into his chest "Ah, I'm good, don't worry."

Mackenzie was tempted to hold him tight and drag him in the first free chamber of the Rising Stones, for too much time had passed since they have seen each other, but he refrained from doing so and simply rubbed gently his forehead on his.

"You know, I missed you a lot, kitten."

"I missed you too." Replied G'raha, swinging his tail "Are you sure you’ll manage to come back to Sharlyan today?"

"Yes, but I have something to do first, I'll be there for dinner."

"Very well."

"May I ask for a kiss before you leave?"

The miqo'te shaked his head without looking at him. "I missed your kisses tremendously, and I’m afraid we'd cause too much of a spectacle if I start to kiss you now." Mackenzie smiled and gave him a kiss on his cheek "I'll take this as an account, then." G'raha looked up into Mackenzie's eyes and smiled "I'll make sure to give everything you need tonight." he replied in a low soft voice. The warrior of light swallowed, his heart started to beat fast and he unwittingly made purr. After a brief hug G'raha walked away.

"That guy is always capable to fool me every time I let my guard down! Nevertheless, he is SO shy in public when it comes to us. But this is one of the thing I love so much of him. Also, it is kind of cute." Said Mackenzie to Tataru.

"And you like to tease him for this."

"Of course I do! And rest assured that he would pay for what he did just now!"

"Heheheh. In any event, ‘tis good to see you, Mackenzie. What brings you here?"

"I was just passing by, and thought it was nice to make you a visit. How things going?"

"Oh, you know, as usual. But I miss all of you, you should come more often! How's your family?"

"My parents and Illa left Sharlyan a couple of days ago, while Raly and Ishan decided to travel together for a while. But, seems that both are waiting for me in Sharlyan, they want to say goodbye before leaving."

"Illa is a really sweet little lady, how old is she?"

"Almost four, and she is already a troublemaker. But, you know, blood tells."

"And if I'm not wrong, she is infatuated of your boyfriend."

"As I said, blood tells." said Mackenzie smiling softly.

"Are you planning to stay some days?"

"Sadly no, I have "chores" waiting for me, and a really important thing to do. But, mayhap I could use your help with one of them?"

"I'm not going to do chores in your stead, Mackenzie."

"Not in that sense, I wouldn't never ask you something like this. Rather, do you know a good jeweler?"

"No way!"

"No way what?"

You're going to propose to G'raha!"

"What in the h–? How did you know?!"

"So is a yes. This is gonna be fun!"

"I hope it will be more romantic than fun, it'll be not a good sign if he does start laughing."

"Don't  worry my friend, it'll be awesome! Let me handle this, I have the perfect person for you!"

"I have the bad feeling this is going somewhere... terrible."

"Not at all! Have I ever disappointed you?"

"No, I can't say you had."

"See? Tell me, do you have an idea about the design?"

"Not the faintest."

"May I suggest something in white gold?"

"It is certainly classy, I like it. "

"And with gemstones?"

"Oh, yes, but very small gemstones, embedded on the whole surface. Mostly blue, and two red. Ah, and this inscription inside: "Our promises will always connect us"."

"So much for not having an idea. In any case, this is even sweeter!"

"Sweeter than what?"

"Don't mind me, don't mind me! Alright, I'll bring your idea to my friend and I'll let you know as soon as I can."

"Thank you Tataru, I really appreciate it. And if you'll be so kind to not spread the word, yes?"

"My lips are sealed!"

Mackenzie smiled. "Well, I'll be more than happy to stay a little while here, but unfortunately ‘tis time to leave. Take care, and say goodbye to the others for me."

"Be safe on your journey!" She replied waving her hand.

Krile arrived from the infirmary just in time to say goodbye to Mackenzie from afar, then she approached Tataru smiling "So, Tataru, are they going to propose each other?"

"Eheheheh! Oh, I'd pay to see their faces!" Said the coinkeeper with a mischievous grin.

"10000 gil that Raha will propose first."

"I'll take the bet!" yelled suddenly Estinien from the solar.

The chasm in their understanding of what makes Vivi tick.

The stakes in this scene seem low and the twins are just overdramatizing the danger for the sake of unwinding and being silly, right? Yesn't. One wrong move or word, and they join those leafmen scattered all over the place.

Finding the line between bad actor and caring sister.

Of course Alisaie wants to hang out with Vivi. She doesn't want to admit that to herself, let alone risk looking desperate in her brother's eyes. Tsundere moment. It's been a while since they've. Had a rest. Between rescuing Minfilia from Laxan Loft and making their way to Il Mheg. Alphinaud, at least in my hc, isn't as physically durable, but definitely as stubborn and proud as Alisaie, so he wouldn't simply agree to chill out for a moment. Alisaie makes him tunnel-vision her bad (?) acting and openly throwing the game for supposedly selfish reasons, while she gets what she wanted, AND forces Alphi to sit his ass down.

I’m sorry but I really need to point out that her ahoge did, in fact, launch into the stratosphere.

Vivi’s shirt’s a bit more plain than usual, he needed to wear something practical under his crystarium guard disguise in Laxan Loft.

The flashback in episodes 32-33 has no dialogue per se, only monologues, to emphasize how disconnected they are.

Technically both vivis are real, but Exarch’s memories are definitely heavily skewed. He’d only known Vivi during the CT quests, in this story it’s a month or two in summer, during which literally nothing bad happens, sans the finale. Alisaie, however, got lucky to experience Vivi during Stormblood, his absolute low.

Exarch and Alisaie sit on opposing sides of the bias, one wears pink glasses, delusional and bluepilled, the other one’s (heh) redpilled, perhaps a bit too much. Hence Alisaie feels the whiplash when her jerkass woobie friend suddenly acts mellow (back in the present), still she has the expertise to tell that he’s not affected by a fae spell or anything.

Full page because I’m so proud of the paneling here, simple as this trick is, these speech bubbles blocking Vivi from sight neatly illustrate that Alisaie just babbles away, paying no heed to his state.

With the power of flashbacks and stories told by one character to another, I’m able to revisit any moment in their past whenever I please. I didn’t commit to a linear story because there was no story! Well, just the outlines. Vivi as a character began in ShB because I really needed to fuck that old man, I started writing down the lil scenes loosely connected by the canon plot, and that’s how the whole concept of Fragments came to be.

It may not work for everyone, but my secret sauce’s that you don’t have to begin at the beginning. Make a guy, put him in a situation, then ask a lot of whys and hows to expand his story backward and forward.

Keeping the past events for later allows me to flesh things out at a leisurely pace. This Alisaie flashback is actually an iteration, originally I’d planned to have Vivi stand alone and just think the broody thoughts, and that was supposed to be the transition between ARR and ShB arcs. I grow more writing muscle as I go, and I’m infinitely happy that I avoided that angsty infodump.

Okay this’s becoming a big fat tangent, but I wanted to acknowledge another pitfall: overusing a character as a mere exposition tool. I wouldn’t do this for, say, Tataru or Y’shtola. Being THE flashback haver makes sense for Alisaie because a) they’re close with Vivi, b) her worldview and opinion on Vivi are changing in ShB, she’s a smart lil thing who would slow down and reflect when appropriate, c) she has a distinct arc in my comic, and knowing what’s going on inside that elf brain will give you the most entertainment out of her actions in the present moment.

I’m new to writing and very excited about the story that comes together as we speak, so I like to show around my kitchen. Please lemme know if you enjoy this. I don’t know if I’m parroting the boring 101s, or if this’s actually useful to someone.

There's a lot happening in his head that's not being shown. I hope at least some readers wonder who or what he leaves behind in his mind's eye in this moment. What we know for sure is that he doesn’t take too long to make a decision.

I love this one especially because, instead of telling that about himself, Vivi asks Ardbert, kinda gauging his wol experience against the other wol’s.

Episode 34 really shook people awake and reminded that we’re off the msq rails with this story. I loved the response it evoked in the tags, lots of thoughtful rambling about being a hero.

Fae temptation jokes and all, but Feo Ul really says what Vivi needs to say out loud to himself.

Normalize prioritizing self-care over world-saving.

Vivi genuinely cares about Feo Ul. That’s unusual. It might be my storytelling mistake that I didn’t show much of his typical indifference before this scene, unless you count the episodes where he does this

instead of hurrying the fuck up with the msq. Or, perhaps, it’s okay, since this gets plenty of attention later on. You won’t miss the fact that he isn’t eager to set himself on fire to keep others warm. Feo Ul just lucked their way into his heart, and, as a result, he approaches the Titania fight with unusual consideration.

Remember how I just talked about developing this story in all directions at once? I planned Vivi to have this demeanor during the early days of writing Fragments. Like, most of the time. He’d be a broody bitch, get slowly thawed by Exarch’s kindness, and... That’d be it. In veeeeeery broad strokes, this’s still the case, but the current iteration has much more nuance.

Vivi and Titania’s likeness has no deep meaning, take it or leave it. Vivi cares about appearances, he was bound to notice this. Feo Ul can see souls, visuals are secondary to them. But Vivi, being himself, must doubt and question everything.

He moves fast and thinks a lot as the adrenaline speeds him up.

Notice how he lets Titania speak and remains quiet. This’s common in most fights: he doesn’t indulge with chats or banter those who he sees as mere targets to destroy. There’s like a point of no return, if an enemy poses no threat and can be talked out of dying, Vivi will speak, sadly he enters this fight knowing that Titania has to die no matter what.

Once he’s familiarized himself with the situation, and realized that Titania’s more than just a mindless husk, things change up a bit. But for now, he just runs in circles, analyzes the situation, and overthinks about their visual resemblance :’>

Thick with the slightest bit of wave (often gets brushed out) Eyes Ruby Red Skin Very Light Olive with white facial stripes and darker pigmented nose. Tans well but never sticks for long. Tattoos/scars One visible scar on the cheek, multiple around her body which get glammed over. After endwalker, her right hand has a high concentration of scaring around the knuckles & palm (A consequence of her final fight in ultima thul and the proceeding surgery needed to reset the incorrectly healed bones.) She has various arcane geometric patterns marked into her skin in aetheric ink. One at the back of her neck, one on each forearm right above the inner elbow, one banded around her ankle. They are also glammed over to be invisible to the naked eye, but those who are well attuned to seeing aether would see them glow faintly as Arsay casts summoning spells.

How does your character kill time while travelling? Are they the kind to daydream out the window, bring activities for others to enjoy... annoy the driver? Would you say they're a good travelling companion or a poor one?

Oh that all depends on who Indie is travelling with (and assuming they’re not travelling in rough circumstances when the mood would be more sombre)

If she’s in a travelling party with Alphinaud, she enjoys bad Carriage Karaoke for the horrors it brings him. Bonus if Alisaie is with her for encouragement.

If it’s just her and Urianger, she’ll probably have a little sleep.

If she’s with Estinien, he’ll pretend to be asleep. She’ll chat to him anyway.

Indie and Tataru would use the time to plan or write their next novella.

She makes up ridiculous adventuring tales for Deftarm to make him laugh when they go off travelling together (which I hc they do whenever time allows)

She plays Yellow Chocobo with Thancred which can get a little rough and neither of them stick to the rules XD

With anyone else I think she’d try to be on her best behaviour; make conversation and get to know them better.

Saeed is absolutely a busy body regardless if it's work or leisure time, much to the displeasure of the Scions who only wish for this stubborn man to take a break. More often than not, it's taking extended trips to Dalmasca, particularly Valnain to assist in his home's rebuilding. Saeed's got a few of his old rogue's guild members settling down there, so he has to make sure the gaggle of idiots can actually look after themselves... But mostly because he misses them a lot, considering them his own family. If not travelling, he still works towards this with a lot of paperwork and resource gathering to send their way! When the Scions or even his guild-mates actually manage to get him to settle down, Saeed quite likes to spend his time taking on the weaver profession, specifically more on the side of meticulously mending and repairing clothing and fabrics rather than the creation of them, but this has absolutely been a way for him to bond with Tataru. Many an evening is spent with the two of them idly gossiping whilst working and enjoying some coffee and snacks! When wanting to be a little more active for his downtime, he more than likely joins Thancred and Urianger on their excursions, seeing as he enjoys spy-work and putting his mind to use, however at the end of the day the three of them can be seen settling down in some inn to enjoy a meal and a couple of drinks, comfortably talking about what's on their mind. And, surprise, Saeed actually has two kids he looks after! Twins ("gee! how come mom let you have two sets of twins!"), a load of trouble but he loves them a lot. They certainly keep his hands full, but they always look out for him. There's no arguing with them when they insist their dad take a break and spend some time in their modest little apartment in Ul'dah or exploring the bustling markets. This is a lot of info, but a lot of my HCs for Saeed are carried over from when I originally played him in my DM's first D&D campaign! Just some little alterations here and there and they fit in quite nicely into the FFXIV universe!

No one seems to acknowledge that, in canon, Hancock refers to Tataru of having Hingan paramours! (Some thing he is joking or being snarky, we do not.) Although a handful do recall that Garlean soldier who was smitten with how cute she was, even as a then-prisoner/enemy of the Empire...

We understand that many folks liken Lalfell to children, as they emphasize a doll-like appearance -- but the game does not. Lalafell in-game are more akin to little people in our world, and so (without being graphic) we fully support Tataru having the same urges as any healthy twenty-something woman!

... Buuut she loves business and the Scions first, not unlike Y'shtola prizes her pursuit of knowledge. Tataru is a very smart woman because she came from a family who previously lost their fortune. She made sure to learn how to make people trust her, and she is always one of the first Scions to adapt to the cultures of new cities for that reason.

She adapts for the benefit of the Scions (and later, her own business). She became a waitress at the Forgotten Knight and dresses in traditional Hingan dress upon her stay in Kugane. She is charming, well-spoken, and yes -- she is attractive. She knows she is attractive and how to tailor her clothing to support that attraction. That doesn't mean formfitting or low-cut! That isn't Tataru's style. It means making sure she feels confident in what she wears, because what is more charming than confidence? Even folks who you might not expect to find a Lalafell attractive find her attractive! It is all according to her plan.

She isn't the type to "waste time" seeking a romantic partner. She is a strong, independent entrepreneur -- and she knows the importance of the Scions' secrecy. Even before its 'disbandment', the raid on the Waking Sands really drove home that they had enemies. It would take a lot for Tataru to be open to a romantic relationship with someone unknown, but she doesn't exactly relish the idea of dating a colleague either (sorry, Wedge).

However, Tataru is not above dressing in something that makes her feel confident and letting men buy her drinks. That is quite enough for her at the moment. She doesn't need anything else. If she decides she wants something else... well. She has a mental list of interested parties for future reference.

Gender Headcanon: Male (but tbh I could see him being fluid about it)

A ship I have with said character: I love all of the WoLG'raha ships, it's so good, so delicious. Recently I've been a little 👀 about Thancred x G'raha also, that's got me Intrigued.

A BROTP I have with said character: I really love seeing bits and pieces of his friendships with each of the Scions tbh, esp now that he's free of the Exarch's yolk. Him and Urianger or Y'shtola nerding out, or gosh his relationship with Alisaie feeling more like siblings is so much fun and delightful. (I also really wanna see him interact with Thancred more just in general oops.)

A NOTP I have with said character: I don't think one exists 🤔 If anything I'd probably just be more ambivalent towards such a thing.

A random headcanon: It's nothing flashy or unique but (and apologies) I subject him to my usual miqo'te HCs of purring, biting, both keepers and seekers having fangs and eyes that adjust to light/dark, and yeah, the less sfw things (not pokey penis, that's where I draw the line).

General Opinion over said character: I love him so much??? I can understand why some people have their grievances with him, especially in regards to how he might 'come on strong' sometimes, but I never really got why people hold long-lasting grudges against him for the whole lying thing. (Though that's probably largely because Ahru isn't bothered by people lying to her if the ends justify the means.)

A ship I have with said character: Is it too obvious to say Tataru? I wanna say she had hearteyes for Minfilia, too. (Thinking about it though, a crackship with Estinien is forming in my head, oh no.)

A BROTP I have with said character: Even if not from a shippy point, Tataru for sure. Also I didn't mention this on his, but G'raha.

A NOTP I have with said character: I do NOT ship her with being forgotten and abandoned by the narrative.

A random headcanon: Listen, definitely had a crush on G'raha at some point, (and yeah Minfilia). I'm not sure if teaching Alphinaud how to paint is a headcanon or was actual canon now that I think about it (am I imagining there was something said about him asking her for advice?)

General Opinion over said character: Less of an opinion but I really can't wait to see more of her in Dawntrail, hopefully she gets a chance to really flourish. I enjoy her a lot but I feel like she's been sidelined so much (and I barely did anything with Eureka admittedly) so I just don't always feel like I know her as well as I wish I did. (Maybe I just need to replay MSQ tho.)

A random headcanon: She loves mint (in food, drink, smoke) and though it's very slight it has a soothing quality that helps her relax. (catnip being in the mint family, yada yada) [She doesn't actually smoke a lot anymore though.]

General Opinion over said character: She is so powerful. Like. To me. Over me. I am so weak and I love her so much and she has been such a delight to explore over the years. Seeing her Go Through Some Shit and Get Worse and also Get Better has been beautiful and I want to cry I love my cat so much.

Bri:

strips of cloth to use as hair ties or finger bandages, a tiny pocketknife, folded up notes on jobs/to do lists, if it's cold or dry a small vial of lip ointment bc she hates having chapped lips

Cala:

the tiniest bag of snacks (usually hard candy or nuts), spare change, hair pins and ties, jewelry that she took off and forgot about. If she's going out casually she might bring lipstick.

Her winter coat pocket has a nice note that was part of a tiny snack gift Tataru put in her and Alphinaud's pockets before one of their trips in HW. She ate the snack and put the note back and now it lives there forever (until she washes the coat lol)

more thought about end of endwalker Arsay recovering from the big fight and having her hands like so completely unusable. I mean, most her body was unusable for the first two weeks; but she really did a number on her hands in that fist fight. Tbh I imagine in the desperate attempts at keeping Arsay alive on the ragnarock, they didnt really get a chance to make sure every bone was set right before blasting her with healing magicks. Once she got looked at by an actual medical professional in Old Sharlayan it was determined they'd have to re-set a lot of those joints and fractures.... painful stuff to say the least.

The healing was the hardest part. Complete lost of dexterity meant no dual wielding and no mudras for months. She started relying on her carbuncle to pick things up for her. Wrapping her hands and wearing gloves gave some support as she began what could ostensibly be called physical therapy. Lots of daily stretching to get the soft tissue and muscles back to being adventure ready, the instructions of which were sent by Alphinaud. (He would instruct her in person had he not already be off in Garlemald.) G'raha and Y'shtola would supervise and provide lots of encouragement. She'd start trying to channel aether via her mudras, only to get the form slightly off and end up with Couscous (carbuncle) on her head (I hc that instead of the rabbit for arsay specifically). G'raha would do whatever he could to lift her spirits, Y'shtola would push Arsay to keep at it.

More months pass and eventually she can cast her mudras again, and the grip on her daggers have never been stronger. Still, subtle signs of trauma are there if you look long enough. Scars on her palm and knuckles and a finger or two that is always a little bent. The hand which struck Zenos that final time looking much worse for wear than the other. She doesn't care, it's nothing a little glamouring or gloves couldn't cover. If her hands work, that's all the matters.

Tataru gets in contact with Arsay one day. She's got a new outfit, custom, made with Arsay in mind. The set included a pair of gloves: one that covered her main hand almost fully, the other composed of perfectly aligned straps of leather that supported her hand and wrist. She thanked Tataru immensely.

Sure. I do it all the time when I'm neutral on one character but don't want the other moving on in polls.

Why aren't the twins/Lalas in the sexy poll?

The twins are 16. I know there's some debate and they could be over 18 by now, but until the powers that be say they are over it, we're not touching it. Yes, it says 16 is Sharlayan Adulthood, but there's still laws in the real world about this. If it helps, I HC the twins as 18/19-ish by the end of the quest "Endwalker." But again, until we're shown a growth spurt and they're explicitly said to be over 18, I'm not touching it.

As for Lalas, my reasoning comes from my FC leads when they did art. We all know they're adults. Many have facial hair, and many talk about sex/are implied to be sexually desirable, but if some friend sees you reblog a poll where one of the images is of Tataru and the header says "Sexiest Final Fantasy XIV character" would your non-XIV mutuals understand "Oh, this is a dwarf race"? Or would they wonder why there's a toddler in a poll like that?

(Kan-e-Senna is removed for the same reasons as Lalafell. Yes, she's in her 20s, but she canonically stopped aging in her teens and uses makeup and shapewear to look more mature than she does naturally. She may be the oldest-looking of her race, but I still feel uncomfortable with putting her in, even if she's more borderline than the others)

Honestly, I don't care. Even if it's my favs, I don't care. I tried to give my favs rougher first rounds for this reason. Even if they're putting it in the tags on the poll itself, I don't care. I suggested otherwise, but I don't control it. And while I'm also not fond of Brigading, especially in the thread of the poll itself, nothing I can do. We all know this is really a tournament of most popular/has the most popular fans/Is a really lucky guy who keeps ending up being used as a counterpick.

What is a counterpick? You keep using this word

When you're not so much picking the person cuz you like them, but because you hate/disagree with the other option. Like when you said Die Hard is your favorite Christmas movie 10 years ago. You aren't saying it's your favorite cuz you actually like it (you may or may not) or think it's a Christmas Movie. You're picking it cuz it takes place on Christmas and you hate traditional Christmas movies. (These days, the statement isn't exactly as provocative as it was. We all get it. But it's the best generic example I have.)

Or in this case, if... say... the fight is Vauthry against G'raha and you hate G'raha because he's a nasty little fanboy who should have stayed dead in 5.3 or even 5.0 or 2.5 and is a homewrecker, you pick Vauthry. Not cuz he's hot. You just want to make it one vote harder for G'raha to win.

Just remember to put Heimlich and Sqiudward memes in your propaganda post and I'll be laughing with you. Vauthry didn't need any submissions cuz I knew you'd all flock to those.

Alternately, your blorbo is Gaius. He's safely winning his poll against Erichthonios so you're not too worried, but the next round he's up against the winner of Vauthry vs Hien, which is pretty tight (Within oh, about 15%, which is less than you expected Vauthry to trail). You know that if Gaius goes up against Hien, he's probably going to lose handily, so you vote for, and post propaganda for Vauthry with all those Squidward and Heimlich memes, because despite the fact that his Innocence form is hot, you know it'll be easier to win against him than Hien.
