Re-listening to the first arc of TAZ: Amnesty and I realized I’ve never tried to draw what the pine guard looks like in my head. Not entirely happy with Ned’s face, but I think I’ll eventually make tweaks I’ll be happy with

Duck Newton (The Adventure Zone) "Extremely does not want to get involved in any of this nonsense to the point where he briefly classed out of being the Chosen to play as the Mundane instead. He got a magic sword for his birthday and immediately gave it away because fuck that. He stumbled into a magical world and tried to leave as quickly as possible. He only got into fighting monsters because they posed an immediate and present danger to his community and he was one of the few people capable of stopping them. He would never become an avatar he would simply refuse."

Croissant Cookie (Cookie Run) "Croissant Cookie is! Well! Croissant has a LOT going on you’ll see :)

So the time god Timekeeper Cookie is the future version of Croissant Cookie. The current director of the Time Balance Department (though not many cookies know this), Timekeeper is, at their best, apathetic and indifferent towards mortals. At their worst, Timekeeper is actively malicious—they’ll lie to others, endanger others, hell, they’ve even ruined the timeline just to see how others react!—doing all kinds of reprehensible things just to sate their own amusement. This clearly indicates Timekeeper is a fear avatar, although their exact alignment is a bit unclear. The most popular interpretation I’ve seen is they’re Spiral-aligned (see above), I personally think they’re Eye-aligned (omniscient bastard who can see everything everywhere in every timeline)—it’s an argument better saved for the Avatar poll reruns, and it isn’t important here.

So what does any of this have to do with Croissant? Well, Croissant actually works for the Time Balance Department fixing time anomalies! After a lengthy adventure trying to fix what Timekeeper did to wreck the timeline, Croissant arrives at the end where Timekeeper tells Croissant who and what they are. And what does Croissant do when she realizes her greatest enemy is… herself? However many years in the future? She GIVES UP ON HER DREAM OF BECOMING THE DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR. She adamantly refuses to fall into whatever power trap which led to Timekeeper becoming who they are, instead insisting on remaining in her current position as a humble mechanic. Strangely, despite this threatening their future existence, Timekeeper is happy with this—in all their omniscient glory, this wasn’t a possibility they were able to anticipate, and they’re curious to see where Croissant goes next.

If that’s not spitting in the face of Avatar-dom and staunchly walking the other way, I don’t know what is."
