griffin dming amnesty: youre not really supposed to say the name of the move, just say what you want to do and i’ll tell you what to roll, for the sake of the narrative
the other boys, every time they want to kick some ass: i want to kick some ass
[Video description: A tiktok from user aov.wav displays an audio bar. The theme music for The Adventure Zone Amnesty plays. The music is jaunty and a little mysterious. The music comes naturally to an expectant pause. We hear a voice yell "Vibe check!" before the music slams back in. The voice was Griffin McElroy as Uncle Joshie from The Adventure Zone Ethersea]
duck newton really is the character of all time though. when he was 18 an 8 foot tall glowing woman appeared and told him he was the chosen one and gave him a talking sword. and he was like. no. and he gave the sword to his friend and became a park ranger
everyone at amnesty lodge is contributing to help raise aubrey’s rabbit son in one way or another (i just didn’t feel like drawing all of them but please imagine harris hanging off the dumbbell while minerva is doing biceps curls)
Duck: It was, uh, right around my eighteenth birthday and my, uh, lady friend at the time, Tabitha, brought me up here sort of like a, welcome to adulthood kind of thing. She had a lot of friends that I didn’t really get along with. She was like—she was slummin’ it with Duck, let’s just put it that way. Her dad, he had a lot of money. And I didn’t really get along with her friends too well. They came up here all the time, but this was my first time… coming up here. And I went out on the slopes, and none of them wanted to do the skiing class, because they’d all been coming up here for however long. So I would’ve been the only one, you know, learning how to ski. So they—I just kind of went out with everybody. And, uh… I basically kind of just fell my way down the hill? Like, some of it was on my ass, and none of it was on my feet. I just kind of like tr—trumbled. That’s not a word, but it fits.
Ned: It is now.
Duck: I trumbled my way down to the bottom of the hill and I—I had never been so cold, and I’d never been so tired—and I right then and there, I took... They were all skiing, having a hell of a time, and I just wandered over here to the Wolf Ember. And uh—I don’t know what prompted me to order French Onion soup? I think they maybe brought it by mistake. But… when I tasted it, I realized I had never eaten French Onion soup. And it was the best thing I’d ever put in my mouth. And I’d spent years, eighteen years, missing out on French Onion soup. Like all the times I could’ve eaten French Onion soup, and I’ve loved the stuff! I had no idea. And that was all I could think about.
And… that night was the first time I turned down Minerva. Because all I could think about when she was talking about me putting my life out and risking it all… All I could think about—and I know this is stupid—but all I could think about was all the French Onion soup I’d missed, and if I died, all the French Onion soup that I’d miss out on in the future. I swear to god, but I turned down saving the world to eat French Onion soup.
A gentle reminder from Duck Newton that, sometimes, living for the little things is okay.
urban fantasy is at its very best when its about a man who is Just Some Guy TM who gets dragged into supernatural shenanigans beyond his control. like listen buddy this guy works at burger king or some shit, this is way beyond his paygrade and he does not want to be here At All. his biggest strength is his midwesterner “don’t ask don’t tell” attitude about the supernatural. he wants absolutely nothing to do with being a hero, fuck it, he just wants to be normal but instead he’s fighting cthulu in a walmart parking lot.
More TAZ characters because it’s a fun character design challenge. My favorite character from the Adventure Zone isn’t Taako or Magnus. It’s Ned Chicane from Amnesty. I feel like Clint really put a lot of soul in this character and it was his best performance.
Been wanting to make pokemon starters based on the Amnesty trio ever since I finished the Balance ones, and finally came up with the time and inspiration! So here's your gen 2 starters for TAZémon!
Yes, we have yet another grass-type bird starter who doesn't become a flying type. Duckscalibur, Wayneforest, and Bayonewton. They grow feathers that are as hard and sharp as steel, but sometimes their feather blades seem like they have a mind of their own.
I know it's a bit similar to Scorbunny, but Aubrey was obviously going to be the fire type, and was obviously going to be a white rabbit. Aubunny, Faieflame, and Mythicalittle. Tried to lean into the magician and fae vibes, hence the cape and jackalope horns.
And last but not least. Ned gets the water type because that was what was left, shrugging emoji. Nedbezzle, Crimiddlename, and Chicaper. These goats are drawn to shiny objects, which they hide in their fur to eat later.
In terms of both design and naming, the Amnesty group was considerably harder to come up with than the Balance group, so this might be my last set of TAZémon. But who knows! For now though, there's other projects I'd like to get back to
