Amidst the current Yuu hype (which is only natural considering we´ve been teased for like 4 years now) I want to return to a new mechanic that was released not too long ago: Brand new personal memoria given to us in the Alinas Atelier event.

You´ve probably seen them around before: Ren can burn her HP down to 20% and gain enough MP for an instant Magia, Shizuku carries 50% chance to crit and Natsuki gets permanent MP regen and so on.

Now this opens up a lot of opportunites for older units to gain new power (that and the possibility to go beyond 100 SE). As I was thinking about which units could be next for this treatment I started thinking about possibly the most deserving squad there is: Mikazuki villa.

Aside from maybe Yachiyo who is a beginner friendly mirrors unit they serve very little to no purpose beyond very early play. (For example Tsurunos magia spam evade cheese is outdone by Oriko). So I think those girlies should get the next set of powerful memoria.

Before I get into my ideas of new tools for them girlies I want to talk about Iroha first. Iroha was promoted to a faction leader in arc 2 and all of the faction leaders have aura buffs which provide them and their teammates passive buffs for up to 5 turns. (e.g. Himena providing aqua attack up or Rabi providing damage up and damage cut etc.). Iroha as we all know does not carry an aura buff (the only non 4* unit to actually carry said buffs is Mayabu with damage cut to all).

So I think her new personal memoria should actually be an aura buff for the entire team that works similiar to the SE nodes from other leaders. I was thinking about something like Ailment res up + MP/HP Regen to all as nod to her protective and inspiring personality (plus having a unit provide passive mp to her team will give Iroha some usage for people with limited or no mp batteries). Now as far as the other girls I´m not sure if they should get selfish effects or be given aura buffs too in an attempt to breath some life into them.

Tsuruno could play into the luck idea. She could give her team something like attack/damage up or damage increase while also giving them chances (like chance to crit or to evade, maybe some anti-evade) for some fun rng. Otherwise I could see her pull up with attack up at full HP and a generous chance to evade similiar to Vampire Nagisa and Chisato.

As for Felicia I could see her gaining a generous amount of damage against witches up since she used to get super focused on witches and going on rampages. Other than that I have no clue what to give her so hit me up with any ideas.

Idk what to with Sana. Should we repeat the Sasara treatment and give her access to a turn of taunt and endor adept (MP when hit)? Honestly I´m just gonna skip this one tho it would be funny if she got some super agressive memoria in homage to her doppel.

Yachiyo is super basic but whether selfish or team wide - give her blast MP. Actually her granting blast mp to her teammates would be funny since all of Mikazuki villa have at least two blast discs. But that would be lowkey busted since it would also stack with pre-existing blast mp.

So yeah that was my unstructed ramble rant about the potential of the new personal memoria for our beloved Mikazuki Squad.

Also please give Hazuki and Ryo permanent MP regen too thankz bye

This actually might be a little hard to go over since I haven't played the game since it first shut down in the US. I have a pretty okay understanding of the story, so I can't tell you who the newer groups are post season 1.

However, in terms of Robin in this game... I believe she'd be a Forest unit, to properly correlate with her wolf powers. Her discs are more commonly blast and accele. She's a rare 4 star unit that can be upgraded to 5, meaning she has a Doppel.

Following the Quintet into Kamihama, Robin is intrigued by the premise that magical girls can be saved in the city. She would follow the trails of rumors and inevitably wind up running into Yachiyo, which I think would start off rocky since they're both senior magical girls who are proud and stubborn with their ideals. But eventually they'd work together, since Robin's senses allow her to track magical creatures far easier.

She'd wind up hanging around the villa girls, and as they get closer, she's helping Yachiyo care for the younger girls. At the same time, she worries a lot for her Mitakihara pack, and it's Mami's (somewhat unwilling) induction into Magius that makes her panic a bit.

There's a lot to struggle with internally. Her friends are safer here, but it's at the risk of civilians. Her powers grow so quickly, it feels wrong. She struggles with controlling her Doppel like Iroha and Kaede.

I could go into further detail about how Robin relates a lot to Iroha trying to find her lost little sister, since she hasn't been able to find Haruki yet either. The defeat of the Rumor of the Séance Shrine aids Robin in beginning to let go, which in turn also helps her control her Doppel and focus on protecting the younger girls she sees like sisters.

It’s a few days late, but I really wanted to make something to celebrate the first anniversary of Magia Record NA. I was one of the players that started on day one, so having a whole year pass with it is a little surreal.

There have been some hard times this past year, both personally and for the world as a whole. For me, this game has been a bright spot, even in the times when it was being a bit harder to love. (I will forever be salty about being spooked)

I’m looking forward to what the game has in store for Arc 2, and hope that the game will continue to go strong!

I couldn’t get this post out of my head so here’s a concept for an “Iroha never forgot Touka and Nemu and ended up joining the wings of the magius early on and becoming an enforcer/sniper for them” AU. additional thoughts and translations of my bad handwriting below the cut.

So the basic Idea of this is that even though Ui disappeared Iroha, Touka and Nemu still remembered each other. she still had that emptiness from her sister’s disappearance however, and the magius took advantage of that, making her their enforcer to keep the other feathers in line/ sniper to take out any enemies that seriously threaten their goals. She’s very loyal to Touka and Nemu as the only things she feels like she can really latch onto, and with some bonus brainwashing to make her more amicable to their less than moral methods, she ends up as a terrifying weapon that they use with gusto.

obviously the way that things go down with mikazuki villa, the other characters and the overall plot would be very different. yachiyo’s probably still alone, Felicia, Sana and Tsuruno most likely end up joining the wings fairly easily, and a bunch of other stuff. I think it’d be cool if yachiyo ended up teaming up with Kanagi and madohomusaya, because they’re the ones who’d still be good and be willing to try and snap her out of it. and rumor sana would be cool so I’m gonna say that that also happens.

but sometime near the end as things are reaching their climax they end up fusing Iroha with Sakurako, and because of the brainwashing she’s still very loyal to the magius, even moreso than before since Nemu now has direct control over her. when the rumor is fufilled after Eve’s release her horns sprout into antlers covered in cherry blossoms, like little trees.

If you don't mind, could you talk more about this Daybreak Illusion anime, and why it was bad?

I might struggle with remembering some bits and pieces about Daybreak Illusion, because despite being born out of Madoka Magica's success, this anime is very very very obscure and easily forgotten.

However, to my luck, a magical girl blogger by the name of @mew-cake (a.k.a.: CakeoftheMews on YouTube) has made a video summarizing and explaining the anime, so y'all can get up to speed on things! She's honestly a lifesaver, 'cause I ain't watching that anime myself for shit!

The video is titled Daybreak Illusion Tripped On Its Face, if anyone's curious.

But, I'll give you my version of the facts...

So, here's the plot's summary:

A young 12yo girl by the name of Taiyou Akari discovers that she has tarot-based powers (she's The Sun card) after her mother's passing. She's later scouted by an organization called Sefiro Fiore, with a team of tarot-based heroes specialized in exterminating wicked beasts by the name of Daemonia.

The thing about Daemonia is that they are innocent civilians who were infected/corrupted/possessed/whatever-the-fuck-happens-to-them-because-the-anime-never-bothered-to-explain-in-rich-detail by evil demons, but they cannot be saved and return back to normal, so the girls have no other choice but to murder these innocents and put them out of their misery.

Akari, our protagonist, is the only girl who can hear the Daemonia's thoughts, listening to their cries of help; which at first it sounds like a solid idea and a catalyst for a huge change in the series... except that this was never brought up again, and every civilian still died anyways.

Y'know, back in the days, we used to throw a Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss on them bastards.

One shot of those, and these corrupted victims were as good as new.

And I don't know much about the ending, but it seems that it ended with everyone dead like the Ugly Barnacle tale, because why not? Why not make everyone's lives even more miserable? As if they weren't content with sexualizing 12yos non-stop.

Yes, it was one of THOSE animes.

The girls' designs look like they came out of a l*licon hentai doujin that you could easily find on those shady websites, one of them is corrupted and transformed into a she-wolf monster going around with their tits and pussy all out in the open (and she was in one-sided/unrequited love with the MC, so I can't help but feel this was yet another demonization of sapphic folk...), and the villain wants to impregnate the 12yo MC and won't fucking shut up about it every single time he's on-screen (oh, and did I mention that the aformentioned villain was heavily implied to be the MC's FATHER?! Hopefully, I don't need to explain to you all why this is gross and totally not legal?!)

So, yeah; this is Daybreak Illusion. A huge waste of time, with fap material for l*licon otakus to relish on, and heavy on the shock value. It's not just bad, it's pure SCUM.

If it serves as any consolation, Magia Record (the game, NOT the anime because we do not talk about it) has a tarot-based magical girl on their ever-growing roster, named Meru Anna, who was a former comrade to Nanami Yachiyo at the Mikazuki Villa.

Unfortunately, she's canonically deceased, as she sacrificed herself in battle to save her friends when her Soul Gem was grimy, and became the Disclosure Witch Etteilla.

Despite the fact that she's dead, her Magical Girl Story reveals that she has become a guardian angel of sorts to Yachiyo, alongside Yukino Kanae, another colleague who perished (mind you, due to Madoka existing as a mortal in MagiReco, the Law Of Cycles is not a thing, so there's not an afterlife for Puella Magi like in the original series).

And, if you're craving something classic, there's CardCaptor Sakura, I guess. I mean, don't get me wrong, this one's the most tame out of the bunch; but there are the gross implications that Sakura and Tomoyo are second cousins, and several references to pedophilia (with Sakura's parents, and an actual teacher/student relationship).

I used to like it as a child, but now that I am more critical of anime, I think it's meh.

Though Tomoyo's fashion sense is still legendary; that's an universally accepted opinion.

Closing thoughts on Magia Record s3

I’m looking at the tag and there’s a lot of complaints, but I liked it fine. Though I’ve never cared for the story in the game so that probably explains a lot. 

The scene with Momoko and Mitama un-doppeling the other magical girls was beautiful, but didn’t feel earned to me. I mean it is very similar to what Madoka does at the end of the main anime, but that was the main character who got god level powers from being at the centre of colliding universes that was built up through the whole season, but here it’s some side characters who unexpectedly have a plot convenient power. Sure the scale is entirely different when here it’s just the magical girls in this town while Madoka saves everyone who ever existed, but the scenes still play out the same way. And Momoko is like girl #12, why is she suddenly important enough for a big event like this? Not that I have anything particularly against Momoko, she’s a perfectly fine girl, but she didn’t really stand out of the supporting cast to me nor did I feel that her presence in the story (or what little I could remember of it) would lead to something like this. 

Poor Kuroe, I really liked her. I think her death scene was well done and a plausible end to a character like her, but also I don’t think it fit too well in the story. Like, Iroha already loses people a lot closer to her so also losing someone she didn’t know that well didn’t add much, and I felt that making Iroha angst about not understanding Kuroe enough didn’t really go anywhere.

Finally: the first episode was really good and I liked most of the stuff around Iroha and her 3 little sisters. Meanwhile the Mikazuki villa team stuff didn’t work with me; To me they hadn’t had enough presence as a found family to justify the “we still have each other” as the message for the finale. Alina made for a pretty boring endboss though a lot of really good animation came out of it. And the ending didn’t really satisfy my “how will they deal with the fact that Homura will just reset everything until Madoka solves the witch issue” question.

I still think that an excellent event idea for Orikiri would be set in Arc 1: Oriko sending Kirika into the Magius for scouting, Kirika gettin’ brainwashed into actually joining them for real, and then Oriko having to team up with Mikazuki villa to get Kirika back

complete with a declaration of love from Oriko to Kirika that breaks the brainwashing off course

Yuma can be in there too as like a useless little cheerleader or something idk

my hopes of mifuyu being the one to rescue tsuruno are dwindling by the week, what with the anime being allergic to letting her do anything of import, or grant her a crumb of forgiveness the way they have for nemu or mitama. but heres why i think she would be a better fit thematically than felicia:

felicia and tsurunos interactions have been scant throughout the anime. felicias strongest bonds are with iroha - who was the first to reach out to feli and really let feli rely on her - and sana, who stuck with her in the wings of the magius. if we are going about this as if we never played the game and dont know about tsuruno basically being her older sister, this feels inappropriate. magireco dropped the found family motif at the beginning of this season, where the writing shifted to the Iroha and Yachiyo Variety Hour. so the bonds between the villas members - iroha and yachiyo being a notable exception - now feel superficial and secondary. now, i COULD see felicias worry for the future resonating with tsuruno, and i WILL be mostly satisfied if felicia is the one to get through to her, but *only* because im coming into it with knowledge from the game

mifuyu knows tsuruno. shes less optimistic about her fate and is weak willed compared to yachiyo. she knows that it was probably wrong to keep the truth about mel from tsuruno (lest we forget she was the only one not present for mels death and is probably super fucked up about it!!), she knows it stung for yachiyo to split the team and cease contact with tsuruno. shes better equipped to understand and resonate with tsurunos insecurities and fears. also, is it a coincidence that the last season 1 shot of tsuruno we see when yachiyo reaches out to her is... of tsuruno embracing mifuyu?

felicia is off the radar now, so is it possible shes gone to find mifuyu and make her hold true to her promise of rescuing tsuruno? if yachiyo wont give her the answers she wants, will she turn to another adult who she knows is a viable option to fix things? i also have to believe that sanas promise to take mifuyu back with them to mikazuki villa wont be dropped entirely, and that it will take the forgiveness and kindness of her youngest children for yachiyo to finally decide that shes ready to work towards forgiving mifuyu

like tsurumor said, chelation land is a place for people who "just cant give their best anymore," and mifuyu understands that better than any of them

but like i said magireco is allergic to giving mifuyu rights whether its in the game or the anime so we will see

okay so i was on the puella magi wiki because i was joking with a friend about who should have gotten all the magical power at the end of arc 1 to kill walpurgis and i read on of the apartment trio's wish and I AM SO INTRIGUED WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THEM. is there like an order to their side stories/events? since you are the expert on this matter i hope you can help

Yes! And you came to the right person for! There's gonna be a quite a bit of things to go through so I'll try my best to summarize it

Their introduction event is called "Bye Bye! See you tomorrow!" It's really good and I highly recommend you to read it! So this is the first one you should start out with

The most basic summary of it is Seika making a contract with Kyubey so she could revive Leila from event that ended up killing her and preventing that very thing from happening. Once she did, she kinda became more distanced from her two friends and Leila and Mito noticed immediately on that. Fearing on their friendship falling apart, Leila made a wish so it'll remain the same between them and Mito later wished so she could connect people's hearts...aka Leila and Seika. There's a lingering mystery on what happened to one of the residents of apartment complex they lived in. Also the reason why Seika did that is because she did not want Leila and Mito to know she was a magical girl

This event also tackled the very real issue of Seika's social anxiety and how she was treated by because of a huge misunderstanding. The same with Mito and her being bullied because she was "weird" according to her classmates. Leila's stuggles of being taken advantaged off and not fully standing up for herself.

Seika, Leila, and Mito's side story all connected with each other. Leila's and Mito's deals with looking for a gift for Seika's birthday and Seika's deals with her finding Ayaka out of nowhere. She becomes inspired by her and Ayaka noticed that she comes to her performances often and tried to talk to her, but she ran away. Only to bump into her again once she detected a witch and only then...She asked Ayaka to become her mentor

The next part I recommend you seeing is "The Flowers' Lament', it goes into more details on the mystery of the pervious events, but Konoha, Hazuki, and Ayame are the stars of this event. So I do recommend reading their other event first "And So, the Azaleas Blooms" so you can get this. It also connects the apartment trio and the Azaleas trio together with the other girls (Nanaka's Team)

Also..."Let's see what you're maid of" and "Summer with Mikazuki Villas " are fun reads that has them too ,but the apartment trio aren't the main characters in this ,but it does give a bit more information on theirs personalities
