Please please tell me about printers, I would like to know <b>everything</b>
Tumblr media
You asked for it /lh
Ok so some clarification: I spent three years at Staples working with a Xerox C70 color laser printer, so that's where my "expertise" lies.
FIRST OFF - DO NOT EVER GET YOUR PHOTOS PRINTED AT A STAPLES/OFFICE MAX/FEDEX/UPS/ANY OTHER OFFICE STORE!!!!!
All office stores (that I have been to) use laser printers. Laser printers are high capacity (meaning they can print loads of stuff before the toner needs to be changed), and use toner, which is a powder version of the ink that is electrically fixed and baked onto the paper. (Forgive the oversimplification) This means that the color will not soak into the paper/past the coating if there is one. So, if you want a glossy photo printed, you will literally be baking the color over top of the gloss, and the color will not be glossy. It will be ugly. I've made like at least 300 family photos and other shit on a laser printer. Don't do it.
Sometimes you can play with the printer settings (the Xerox C70 has pretty in-depth settings because obv it's for office printing) and you can set the color load to be "glossy" but that really just means a thicker layer of toner. It's a little shinier but not glossy.
Also, laser printers just can't get that tight, crisp color quality that an inkjet can. So many people came in wanting to make their Christmas cards with these ultra high quality photos and wanted them cheap and same-day, and then would complain that they were "fuzzy". Personally, I always thought they looked fine, but white suburban mom Karens complained all the damn time about the "fuzziness" of their fancy professional photos. Inkjet can get the crisp, sharp lines that you see in digital photos and art, whereas the toner, being powder based, just can't quite get it.
ALSO also! The colors on your computer screen will always be a little brighter and nicer than what comes out of the printer! That is because your computer is back lit, it's shining light at your eyes. Paper cannot do that, so sometimes the colors look a little "dark" or "muddy". Personally, I've seen this with really light lavender, beige, and cyan the worst. Combine this with the more limited scope of color mixing with a laser printer, and sometimes you get weird ass colors coming out. If you have a specific idea for your colors, inkjet is the better bet.
Tldr: get your photos printed at Walgreens or Walmart, or send them somewhere that specializes in photo printing.
There are two main categories of printers, Laser and Inkjet. You have an inkjet if you have a printer in your home.
Inkjet printers have the liquid ink in the cartridge, that's why you have to wait a little bit before it dries, especially for specialty papers or really old printers. The liquid ink can soak into the paper/through the coating, so that's where you get the nice glossy photo prints. ((You can also buy sheets of primed canvas for inkjet printers, which is super cool and I definitely have a bunch of it for some of my favorite digital artworks from friends)).
Ink can come in two types - dye based and pigment based. You have dye based ink if you have a printer at home. Pigment based inkjet is for like,,, the top of the top art printing. It's expensive as hell, but it doesn't fade from light exposure, like dye ink can. (Don't worry, the things you print at home are not likely to fade very much, unless you have them in direct light and never turn the lights off. I have seen photos fade because of light exposure, but that's because Staples never turns any of the lights off for whatever reason, and we had printed pictures using the poster printer to get the nice gloss without realizing.) Pigment based is also apparently a powder, but I'll be honest I don't know how it's fixed to the paper. I assume heat as well. (I've never gotten to work with a pigment printer, I only know about them because I was looking for good printers to print art and found out about them, then I saw the price tag and was like lolol)
When buying specialty paper to print on (like photo paper or canvas), you need to check the label!!!! There are papers designed for laser printers that can withstand the heat and accept the toner, and there are papers designed for inkjet that can hold the liquid ink as it soaks through. The coating on an inkjet safe paper is not as heat resistant as ones made for laser. If you put it in the laser printer, the coating will melt, and you will ruin the internal machinery. I have seen it happen. Don't do it.
Speaking of specialty paper! Have you ever heard of pearlized paper??? It's my favorite paper!!! It's sparkly!!!! 😍
Pearlized paper is typically for laser printing; I've tried to print on it with an inkjet but it came out looking really weird. It's shimmery without having chunky glitter on top that will fall off and go everywhere. Go to your local Staples and ask if they have pearlized paper, just to look at. Pictures can't do it justice. (My business cards for my fairies are printed on soft pearl, which is ivory colored, because I printed and made them myself so I got to do what I wanted /lh) We mainly used it for weddings and stuff, but I recommended for all kinds of stuff because I thought it was so cool.
Other papers: the two main types of paper you will work with at home are regular paper and cardstock. Cardstock just means thick. Both can come in tons of cool colors and textures (linen texture is my personal favorite, you usually buy it as 'resume' or 'business' paper.) you know how thick a piece of paper is by its "weight" which is measured in pounds. I don't know why it's measured in pounds, it just is.
If you want a nice quality paper to print on that's still flexible and foldable, you want to look for something that's 24-30lbs. Typical cheap copier paper is 20lbs, and a lot of the time you can see through it, i.e. if you print something double sided you'll be able to see a little of the text on the back showing through. I have found that 24lbs is thin enough to be more affordable (per ream), but thick enough to not have the bleed through. We had a 32lb paper that was thick nice thickness and super smooth, and we called it "ultra premium". It was nice, but I wouldn't print like flyers and stuff on it. I did a lot of booklets with that one.
If you're gonna get a cardstock, get something 60~lbs and up. 65lb is a really good thickness if you're printing coloring pages because it soaks up the marker ink and holds it nicely. Use 100lb if you're making a coloring *book* that's going to be double sided.
Cardstock cannot be machine folded without a really heavy duty machine, and it's very annoying because those machines are usually at the high-volume production centers and not in-house, so customers complain that they have to wait for their booklets. >.>
When working with business cards, post cards, and the like, you will hear about "bleed area" or "print to bleed". That just means whether or not the ink can go all the way to the very edge of whatever is being printed. When you design a business card or other card to be printed, you will typically have a bleed area, where you want the background to go a little farther than the actual size of the card to allow for cutting, but you want to keep any important text or photos to a certain area so it doesn't accidentally get cut off. The bleed area is not a negotiation. If you don't have space for the bleed, something will get cut off.
At Staples, our business cards were 2x3.5 inches, but the designs had to be about 2.25x3.75 to allow for bleed. The number of times I had to go in and manually fix some idiot's card because they didn't understand what a bleed was is absolutely absurd.
You can get full page size (8.5x11) printed to bleed, for things like flyers with special borders and letter heads, but those also require specialized printers that are at the production facility. The number of people who outright refused to understand this was also absurd. If you have a printer at home, there is a 99.99% chance it is not able to print to bleed for a full 8.5x11, and that's why you still have a white edge if you try to print something that is supposed to have color all the way to the edge of the paper.
My final bit of advice before I end my rant: when you're financially independent and able to/want to buy your own printer, if you plan on making your own art prints to sell, do NOT get an HP printer. HP is fine for general use, it prints well and it's pretty ink-efficient, but it's just not got the super fine quality. Brother and Canon are the two brands I personally recommend for art and photography; they're more expensive but they have a really nice quality of printing. I had to do a lot of training for HP printers and computers, and it's a lot of big words that mean very little in the grand scheme of things.

Happy WBW!
What is the architecture like in your world? Does it vary by region/location or is it mostly the same? Is there anything unique about it?
~ @tabswrites
Oh Tess, you don't realise what you brought upon yourself.
Let's answer for the Days of Dusk times, so I can cover only half of the timeline. It evolves further as we progress to the times of The Truth Teller, but I still have some gaps to fill in this period, so I'll leave it be for now.
Where do I even start...
This isn't an exhaustive list, just what I remember including on page - it will mostly focus on manor houses of the minor nobility and greathouses of the princes.
Note: Red brick is associated with the Army buildings - the barracks in the larger cities and the outposts spaced out throughout the Five Princedoms. How much red brick is used depends on how sympathetic towards the Army a given region is. For this reason, Redguard, where the Central Command is located, has a bit different architecture to other cities. Here's a description.
Building materials
As a rule of thumb, the regional differences are:
Wood as a building material is more commonly used in the Princedom of Water and the north of the First Princedom. This comes from the availability of the material.
The First Princedom and Princedom of Air (East) prefer a combination of sandstone and brick, with more exposed brick used in the First Princedom. The heads of both states are Swords, and people don't shy away from the military aesthetic. But, wood is still cheap, and often used outside urban areas.
The Princedom of Rock (South) prefers yellow brick, pastel-yellow paint, and also flatter roofs - there isn't as much snowfall there
The Princedom of Fire (West) opts for plastered brick, often painted in flat floral patterns along the edges.
Manor houses
Smaller manor houses in the First Princedom are strongly inspired by Polish manor houses (though aren't always accurate recreations). They have a symmetric layout, and are one storey tall, two at most. They're bisected by a hall, and have a porch by the entrance, sometimes a terrace at the back.
In the Princedom of Rock, the symmetric layout is not a thing, and instead the manors are often L-shaped, with a terrace/balcony at the corner. In the West, they're often laid out in a square, enclosing a courtyard. In both of these princedoms, they also appear more enclosed, often built on hills. They may resemble seaside forts, and have a vaguely defensive aesthetic, especially if the local lord has responsibilities related to protecting the coastal towns from sea raiders.
(I actually have very little plot set in the East and North, so these two princedoms aren't as well developed).
The greathouses of the the Princes are much grander, and older. They'd have sprawling wings embracing large open spaces, and expansive manicured gardens behind them.
One unusual element you might find in some gardens is a gateway arch - a general of the Army is permitted to construct a gateway arch in their private residence, for personal use, and since a lot of the senior officers and generals come from the nobility, the arches were incorporated into the surroundings. They're vaulted arches made of brick, with crystals and wires embedded in them - the array that enables the gateway to function.
Historical timeline of the First Princedom's Architecture
The plot demanded that I figure it out, so now I'm info dumping it on you.
Not much is known about the architecture before the War of the Dispossessed which devastated the heart of the continent. That was about two thousand years ago.
The first buildings to be erected after that, which are still standing, are places like the city halls of the princedoms' capitals, the princes' greathouses, and the Chambers of Gold. The Chambers are where the Council of Twelve resides and passes judgement in the Sun King's stead, when he's in the Palace in the Clouds.
The one element they all share is a glass dome above the entrance hall - usually above the city's/family's/etc. crest laid out as a mosaic on the floor. The dome is reinforced by crystallurgist (more often Elemental Dancers with relevant powers) to not break from hale and similarly harsh weather. I particularly like the design of the entrance hall in the First Prince's residence:
The glass dome provided more than enough light. The ceiling around it was covered in frescoes of clouds tinted orange and pink, with pale sky between them still showing a few stars. Ahead of the entrance two symmetrical staircases intersected at a landing in the middle. Above it there was a painting of a lone rider, with clouds in the background forming wings behind his back. The floor was laid in stone, forming a tessellating pattern with the Moon-and-Star crest directly below the dome.
Then, the domes faded out of fashion, and more wood was used. Sandstone and brick buildings are often seen.
Minor nobility became a larger group, and honestly not that rich, so they used cheaper materials - a stone foundation, with a wooden structure on top, single-storey. However, said nobility was also prone to feuds and forays, and a lot of them burnt down or were otherwise destroyed.
In Gifts of Fate, the main trio spends a long time in an abandoned manor in a style that came afterwards - called 'post-revival' in setting. It started relying on a wooden frame filled with bricks, and the manors now became two storeys tall. I've got a description of this particular manor here.
Finally, contemporary buildings include less wooden elements, and are more often than not plastered in light colours, with sculptures adorning the corners and lining the edges of the roofs. The roofs are tiled or covered with copper sheets.
The First Prince had added some of these elements to the ancient greathouse, like light plaster and sculptures, so here are some pictures I used for the inspiration:

why do u like mission impossible movies? (genuinely asking lol) and also what’s ur favourite one and who’s fav character?
I generally like action/adventure movies with thrilling action and, and it's really important to me, with characters I like and that have friendship between them. Mission Impossible has that. The action sequences are some of the best there is, and I've grown to really like these characters and their chemistry.
My favourite one... I always fluctuate between Rogue Nation and Fallout. Objectively, I think Fallout is the best one in the franchise, but subjectively, my heart would often go to Rogua Nation.
My favourite character is Benji Dunn. I feel the most attachment and closeness to him as a character. Like I can relate to many things about him, oddly. And I also love Luther. Everyone needs a Luther in their life.

hiiiii it wasn't my post but i think i can say don't be nervous adding on posts we all love reading other people's thoughts on here 💓 and since you said that was your first bts interaction on this site, i'm here to quickly add a second one! so, an ask!! pls tell me who is your bias and why is he your bias and also what is your fave song (or several) by him 👀
Ahhh thank you so much 💖😭🤧 I'm relatively new to the fandom and sometimes it feels like my opinion is not that important (as far as one opinion can be huh) cause of that, so I'm always a bit scared of adding something to the posts 😅
Oooooohhh my bias and WHY?
Why my bias is HOSEOK and WHY?
That's some kind of Hoseok magic I guess ahahahah
No, actually, I think I love him so much because I'm convinced that my bff and him are the same f person. They share one brain. It's actually sometimes scary, cause they use the same sentences and share the same thoughts on a number of things (they even share the f playlist lmao Hobi stole all of her fave musicians😂)
I really love his vibe. He's, in a very good and fascinating way, a crazy almost like demented vibe 😂 He has the asylum vibes and I love the hell out of it 🔥
When my bff and I had a "Megabias" concept, which included Jin, Hobi and Jimin, my army friend who had a few attempts at turning me into BTS and EXO fan in the 2016-17 (attempts failed due my hyperfixsation on different bands and genre) said to me that she doesn't really like Jin cause "he's an idiot derogatory" and I went YES HE IS AN IDIOT affectionate AND I'M ONLY INTO IDIOTS affectionate PEOPLE CAUSE THE HELL SHOULD I HAVE A NORMAL ONE WHEN I CAN HAVE AN IDIOT ONE?
I mean, she's Yoongi biased so she's delulu about him not being an idiot affectionate 😂
They are all relatively idiots 😂 I guess that was the magnet for me at first
Like my first bias was Jimin, and when we were talking about our Megabias (again, Jin, Hobi and Jimin) I always referred to them as the "clown line of BTS" cause, well, it's truth? 😂
Now, we abandoned the Megabias concept cause the more we into them the less is the 'gap' between our love to any of the members. Like at the beginning I even could make a list from my most fave to my least fave member, now I would not be able to do that, except for knowing that Hoseok is my ultimate bias in the kpop industry 😂
So yeahhggg Hoseok it is 💜🥹
Tumblr media
But let's not forget I'm a totally an ot7 by heart and soul 🥹💜 I really wanna buy their albums cause I only have JITB, Layover and Face rn but I'm literally broke and jobless rn to be able to buy Indigo, DDay, Golden and Austronaut 😭😭😭 I need all of them for my mental health

bound: Has your OC ever been imprisoned or captured? What happened? How did they get out? Did the experience leave any scars?
break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest?
desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?
for rod?
oooh thank you!!
bound - i don’t think roderich has been captured often because he strikes me as a strategist who watches things unfold from the sidelines rather than a direct leader. however i’m sure he’s been captured at least a few times, maybe during the wars with hungary or the silesian wars in the 1700s….honestly i think his go-to strategy if captor is a human is to just off himself and hope his body is left behind so he can escape. roderichs lowkey insane sometimes! if it’s another nation, he does his best to negotiate with whatever bargaining chips he has, but one can tell he’s scared. he’s really not used to being in that position and probably couldn’t effectively fight his way out.
break - this is an easy one. the breakdown of his marriage to antonio really changed him as a person into the icy and proud aristocrat he is today. it really felt to him not just like a personal failure, but a failure of everything hr was ‘meant’ to be—a powerful united catholic empire. it made him strive for perfection, to prove he could do it ‘alone’ (he isn’t really alone but antonio was his equal in a way that vassals aren’t, so in his snootiness he would think of it this way) but he really repressed a lot of the more rustic, affectionate, playful parts of his personality post-1714 and became a huge stickler for etiquette as a security blanket (in public at least.) he’s perhaps loosened up a bit since wwi
desire - sometimes in the depths of his heart…..he wants antonio back. 😔 he knows it’s stupid and wouldn’t work but he can’t help it. antonio was his first love and first heartbreak and i think he misses the certainty he had when he and antonio were a united front against the world. it’s as much about antonio as it is about nostalgia for a time long past. in practical terms i don’t think he’d do much about this, he just thinks wistfully sometimes. if pressed, he would say that his marriage to antonio is the most “valid” in legal and spiritual terms. (in his mind it was annulled on false pretenses)

how do you feel about THE scene in captain laserhawk (the one that went viral, the one where rayman is all sad and eating sushi off of… lol) or well, in better words, how did you feel about the sad and sorta deadbeat look rayman had briefly in captain laserhawk after getting laid off
Tumblr media
OKAY. no. serious answer for a moment. how I felt about it... it made me feel really, really bad for rayman. I was so mad and upset on his behalf! the way he was treated makes me FUME everytime I think about it!! he didn't deserve any of that... poor guy.
and the way he copes with it :c drugs and alcohol and prostitutes... gah I just wanna give him a hug and hold him close and never let go. have him cry his heart out on my shoulder, I don't care. I just want him to know he's loved. that there's someone out there who will always care for him no matter how bad things spiral out of control. literally the "it's rotten work" "not to me, not if it's you" quote hdhhfdjsfh. I just love him so much and I think he deserved better. it hurts me to know what he had to go through! 😭 I wish so badly that I could have been there for him.

@oomerkabaoo in reference to this.
(I wanted to turn this into a post just because it made me laugh - which is something I needed today. Hahaha!) 💙
For the most part, Sal is honestly a very patient soul and is a wonderful listener not only when it comes to Kuja, but most anyone on the regular! Bragging or not. It even works out as she'd rather hear about others vs. talk about herself. However, she's not "perfect." She has her moments where, much like we all do, she's just...
Tumblr media
Especially when it comes to inebriated, one-sided conversations she's likely heard at least once before... it's less about the brag part and more about the "I can't pretend I haven't heard this three times already and they won't even remember if I was listening" part. (I had to make the edit.)
In general, she tends to be that one guest at the party who's always more or less sober and usually ends up having wayyy less fun than everyone else. The 🌌 Sal vibe 🌌 becomes an inward vs. outward experience, at that point. "Not Here" Sal activates. 😆

I have so many questions about your lawlu childeren, I love them 😭❤️
What does Ola usually write? 👀 (somehow I can see her writing the weirdest stuff no matter the genre xD)
And is Taiga's garden more flowery or more vegetable/herb/Usopp type garden?
And the golden question, how did the crews react when they first found out there's going to be a baby around and worse, that it's going to a mini Lawlu mix? There are so many ways I can imagine that going and I need to know how it actually went xD
AAAHHH thank you so much, I'm really glad! 🥺💜 I love talking about them, these questions are making me vibrate:
1 - What does Ola usually write?
She has a preference for fantasy and sci-fi, and you're absolutely correct, it's always weird. The kind of weird where you're not sure if it's pure surrealism or if you just don't get it because you're dumb.
Law seems to get it though, he says her writing is "deeply allegorical and profound, a reflection of human nature through a distorting mirror." Whatever that's supposed to mean. He's proud.
2 - What kind of garden does Taiga keep?
Flowery garden! He grows some herbs and fruit trees too, but it's mostly flowers, vines, cacti, etc. He's very dedicated to his plants, it's a huge tragedy whenever something bad happens to one of them (which is not very often, because he's extremely careful).
He never kills the bugs though. If they are damaging the plants, he takes them somewhere else and feeds them (sometimes he ends up keeping them too).
3 - How did the crews react to lawlu having a baby?
There were mixed reactions for sure. The Heart pirates were shocked at first, and definitely a little worried, but overall just very happy for Law. All of them wanted to be "the cool uncle/auntie" and couldn't wait to spoil the baby (everyone was jealous of Bepo once Ola was born, because he was very obviously the favorite).
The Strawhats, on the other hand... they know Luffy enough to know there are things to be very worried about. Well, at least some of them were worried. Robin and Zoro were just like "omg congrats :)", Franky got "SUUUUUPER" emotional, but I can see Nami, Sanji and Usopp having some kind of "emergency meeting" about the news:
Usopp: Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them—a litte weirded out, yes, but happy—but, guys... A human being that's half Luffy and half Trafalgar Law? I can't be the only one who thinks this is a dangerous idea. That baby is going to be terrifying.
Sanji: Oh my god, what if the baby eats as much as Luffy?! What's going to happen to me?!
Nami: Guys, calm down, this is important! Our mission is to be positive role-models for the baby once it's born. That way, we can maybe mitigate the effects of the Trafal-Luffy genes. The child can still be normal if we try hard enough.
But once Ola is born, their only concern is "protect Pirate Princess!" The child did not, in fact, turn out normal at all, but they all still love her (and Taiga!) to death.

How do you think Nicholas used to celebrate the New Year prior to attending King’s Row?
Honestly, I don't think that he did. I don’t know man, call me bleak but reading Nick's background in the first issues of Fence, there's a bleak sort of feeling to it with fencing as this bright desperation to get out and pursue something he loves. So in my mind, the turn of the new year meant nothing to Nick because it never changed anything for him. It would be just another night that promised just another year stuck fighting for a better life.
So I really don't see him as intentionally celebrating it--some years, he spent it at home fucking around on his computer, some years he spent it sleeping, some years he spent it wandering the streets alone looking for trouble, and some years he spent it with friends who invited him to their celebrations.

Happy STS!
Do you have any "weird" ways you do character or plot development? For example, I find making text post memes very helpful in figuring out a character's vibe and I have made a few plot decisions based solely on funny character/post matchups. - @void-botanist
Happy STS!
What even are days of the week... they all melt together here.
Two things come to mind regarding character development, though I don't think they're that weird. All the STS and WBW questions definitely helped me flesh out some aspects of the setting and characters. E.g. Lissan liking apples as a sort of sentimental thing, more than actually liking the flavour, arose from those. Similarly, seeing 'ship dynamic' posts will often help me articulate a dynamic between characters, although arguably, it was already there, I just couldn't describe it concisely.
Otherwise, I write a lot of discovery/exploratory scenes. They're simple slice-of-life/fluff vignettes to explore characters interacting when not affected by strong emotions or adrenaline. You know, to explore their 'default'. This also helps me figure out which characters might get together (romantically or otherwise) in canon, for background relationships.
Beyond that, my approach to plot development is looking at my characters and asking repeatedly 'hey, wouldn't it be messed up if X happened?'

The l-word! We talked about this a bit, but I feel it needs a more in-depth analisys. I believe you said Mago is a demi-aro (I didn't dream this one up, did I? Sorry if I did! :D) when is the time he would feel comfortable hearing this from Heinrix? And when would he himself be sure enough to admit to having deeper feelings? Both to himself and Heinrix? ^^
Also, do you think that, after the game is over, there comes a time when Mago's criminal background comes back to haunt him in any way? Or is it a done deal, nobody would ever dare to come after him now that he holds the title of Rogue Trader?
Thank you! 😄💜 Took me a little while to untangle my thoughts on this, so apologies for taking so long!
I think, in some ways, it really helped that they were both so thoroughly convinced that neither of them had a future. So there was never any point or pressure to define what was going on between them. It gives them the space to figure things out at their own pace.
I think for Mago (he is demi-aro, you did not dream that up :D), the line between platonic and romantic love is blurred and there is a fair bit of overlap at the edges. I think by the time he found Heinrix in Commorragh, he understood that he loved him, but felt no need to like, demarcate the boundaries of that feeling. It was more of a: 'I think I love this person and I'll figure out what that means as I go'.
When it comes to them admitting it to each other... The thing is, from Mago's perspective, they had been doing that for weeks/months. All those little moments of kindness/affection/vulnerability/etc. I don't think it ever occurred to him that an explicit verbal declaration was like, a Thing? I think during the ice scene he understands, in the moment, that saying it out loud with words is a significant thing for Heinrix, but it isn't telling him anything he didn't already know. Which is why i love the mildly exasperated "i love you too now let me call the healers" dialogue option XD.
The confession that Heinrix is leaving the Inquisition, that he's *staying*, though... THAT hits Mago like a ton of bricks. Something about knowing they have no future, but wanting to hold onto it anyway, even if it hurts..... Anyways, I'm gonna stop before i start quoting Night In The Woods, but you get the idea XD.
----
And his criminal background! He wasn't really a big enough player to have enemies powerful enough to make trouble for him as a Rogue Trader. And he didn't cause enough damage to Imperial interests that it would really be worth it for the authorities to dredge that up either, as long as he sticks to the Expanse.
But his criminal and common background does still come back to haunt him in that the nobility in the Expanse never accept him. These are people who live for several hundred years, have their own private intelligence networks, and nothing to do but dig up dirt on each other, so by the time of the magnae accessio, they all know that he's a former criminal and a commoner and they don't let him forget it.
And I don't think the rumors Kunrad started every really die. Every so often the whispers start circulating again, that he's not really a Von Valancius, that he murdered Theodora and took the warrant by force, etc. Often it's just dangerous gossip, but occasionally it escalates to active sabotage or assassination attempts.

Some "get well soon" asks 💜
Does Imogene have a 'tell' when she's lying or bluffing?
What does it look like when she's afraid, and is there anyone who can tell before everyone else when it's setting in?
What is she like when she's sick? (needy, self-isolating, tries to power through, etc)
favorite comfort food? Favorite food in general?
What sort of qualities/characteristics draw her to someone?
And since you asked about Mago, I've been curious about what Imogene's answer would be so :D -- what makes HER heart go pitter-patter? how does she feel about romantic gestures? Does she like big and dramatic or quiet and chill? what is her preferred way to receive affection?

I am still not back to my 100%, but be sure your ask, as always, made me feel a lot better! ^^ Now, onto the questions!
Does Imogene have a ‘tell’ when she’s lying or bluffing?
Okay, look, this is a highly specific question and I won’t even pretend I had an answer ready :D After some thinking…yes, she does. She laughs a lot, in a lot of different ways, so it usually goes unnoticed, but she has a nervous little laughter reserved for when she is forced to lie on the spot.
What does it look like when she’s afraid, and is there anyone who can tell before everyone else when it’s setting in?
I assume we’re talking about a growing fear, not a jump scare during combat, emergency, etc.? Her palm(s) sweat so she involuntarily fidgets with her fingers. This one, I think, requires actively paying attention to her body language, so I would say only Abelard, and later, Heinrix, are the ones to notice it. Then I think the most visual thing that happens next is her discreetly trying to take a few steps back. She is not very discreet though, so it just takes eyes to see she'll be bolting out of here soon :D
What is she like when she’s sick? (needy, self-isolating, tries to power through, etc)
Imogene and powering through? xD Oh no, when she is sick, she’s in her bed, doors closed, and if anybody asks - she’s writing her will, do not disturb her.
favorite comfort food? Favorite food in general?
I have a feeling Imogene has an awful sweet-tooth. Any kind of baked goods are probably on her “comfort” list. Apart from that, I don’t think she would put much attention to what she eats (or rather, what is served her…) as long as it looks fancy.
What sort of qualities/characteristics draw her to someone?
People having a backbone. She pays little attention to people who are either people-pleasers or just agree with her because of who she is. You don’t have to be extra mouthy, just don’t let her tread on you and this will be a beginning of a beautiful friendship...or situationship :D
And since you asked about Mago, I’ve been curious about what Imogene’s answer would be so :D -- what makes HER heart go pitter-patter? how does she feel about romantic gestures? Does she like big and dramatic or quiet and chill? what is her preferred way to receive affection?
Imogene thinks herself too old and jaded for romance, so doesn’t put much thought to it anymore. When she was younger she was never one to not appreciate a grand gesture, even when knowing full well there’s little behind it. Little does she know there are so many ways in which one could be loved, and she’s about to find out! I like to think she finds her two new loves in the quietest ways possible, and being surprised at how right it feels this time around.

what’s coming up in your life that has you excited?
Ooo, there are actually a lot of things there! Here's my current List of Exciting Things:
- I'm starting the ball rolling on a Therapeutic Minecraft program I've been wanting to do for a long time
- My YouTube channel is popping off suddenly, and unexpectedly. Not sure where that's going yet, but that's kinda fun
- I'm planning a big collaborative event with other creators for this summer that should be a blast
- I've very very recently figured out how to hack my brain to make writing happen properly and have been making steady progress on a LSFF expanded universe story

I truly hope you write your own romance novel someday (if you haven’t already) and make millions. I’m more invested in your pink scarf series than my own life ❤️❤️
OMG Nonnie, THANK YOU and you are making me blush, honey, because this is my ACTUAL DREAM and the fact that you think it's even a possibility is amazing. Like seriously. Or that you think I could've already done it brings tears to my eyes, you have no idea... (Because ALL my insecurities want to tell me it could never happen.)
My very serious question(s) for y'all, if you don't mind (and I promise I'm not asking this fishing for compliments, I am just really interested to know), is if I published a romance novel, would you want to read it? Would you want to pay money for it? Would you read it if it weren't quite as smut heavy/not about EP (but in a similar vein)?
One, I cannot BELIEVE how amazing and supportive this community has been to me and my growth as a writer. I never in a million years expected this response to what started out as a teenie one-shot in my head. Pink Scarf has pushed me in so many ways, and I know I'm still learning and growing with each sentence and PS certainly isn't perfect, but y'all still take precious time out of your lives read and comment and reblog and share and just WOW. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 💜
Two, the reason I ask (and would be hesitant to share if not for so many of y'all being so kind and supportive) is that I am in the very beginning stages of attempting to make this a reality...like I'm actually in the process of making a huge career change. (Well, I actively quit my very stable career this summer because it was killing me and because writing has been calling out to me for years. Now I'm figuring out how to make it actually happen and how to try and make a living at it and OMG is it a terrifying prospect for someone who has made all previous life choices in the name of stability LOL)
I am truly curious to know what y'all think (even if it's "girl, get yourself a day job cuz there's no way!" LOL)...or if any of y'all out there are published author/creatives who have any pointers, feel free to message me!!

17 and 18 for the ask game you just posted!
Thank you kindly for the ask! <3
17. Your favorite character to write this year? 18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?
These are incredibly tough questions, because I have basically just been focusing on Walter and Henry this year (none of the other characters in my main WIP are central enough to be faves or thorns in my side). And to be honest, I feel like they are both answers to both questions.
My main WIP at the moment is from Walter's POV. I've made him so messed up with his compulsive social gaming and several issues that he's only half acknowledging that he is both extremely enjoyable and absolutely exhausting to write. So there have been a lot of times when he's been the answer to 17, but also a great many when he's been the answer to 18. Then again, I've also struggled with Henry in that particular story, because he's meant to be a bit hard to read, and boy is he ever, haha. So in a way, he could be 18 too.
However, it's hard to say how much of that is due to the characters themselves and how much is due to my being overly self-critical and frankly close to burnt out this year. When writing is fun, it's really fun, but when it's not, it's really not. That probably affects my perception of writing the characters whose story I want to finish the most, because it's just infinitely frustrating not being able to tell it as smoothly as I want.
That being said, I have written a couple of other things as well, and one of those was a joy to write. It was a mostly fluffy one-shot turned two-parter for ace week, from Henry's POV, and I didn't struggle with it at all. Even the angst was nice to write because it was A) ace stuff and B) deliberately quite light, as the story was meant to be validating rather than triggering to read. So yeah, that particular version of Henry is another strong contender for 17!
Also, you can ask again if the Secret 5+1 Project pans out because I'm having a blast with that right now, but I expect it to get a lot heavier and less fun as it goes on.
So, I hope that wasn't too much of a cop-out! Thank you so much again for asking!
