AHAHA I MADE IT
3 DAYS IN A ROW 4K+ WORDS EACH CHAPTER BB WO!
Chapter 9: Sickness through Young and Old
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 10: Third Brother
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 11: Within the Water
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because all the chapters go through almost the same arc! Let us have the three chapters be talked in one post.
-Let's talk about the first case: Sickness!
Because what literary story set in medieval Japan does not have a tale of sickness and good ol' unknown disease that will only get worse by time~
"Wait wasn't Tanjuro also sic—"
"Shhhhh sh sh shsh....We are gonna cross that river soon... soon."
But really, it seems that while looking through some good old diseases that have plagued Japan in feudal times, I have come across the fact that they also had those kinds of "Victorian era wailing for its last breath" kind of tropes there and I was like "how. Hoho.
Cool story I found was that of Minamoto no Tametomo fighting the smallpox demon, so maybe I'll make a reference to it some day... prob.
Is the disease Yushiro has a real one?
Yes....and no. Basically it's going to be ambiguous as to what it is, especially for the effects that it will come to play later, and most importantly, where the cure is found.
And now that we are talking about Yushiro...
The Idea of the Koucho's having the head being a woman actually was inspired by an actual onna bugeisha in the sengoku period: Tachibana Ginchiyo(1569-1602)
And out of all of the other women Castellans[i.e appointed women officials to lead a castle or command] Tachibana stood out to me due to the fact that her name may have meant (depending on the source) "to listen to the words of a discreet person".
Well, did she listen? did she not? Well the record of the family certainly said that she had the bravery of her father, the titled "Lightning God", and oh yeah, stepped out to become the heiress of the clan despite the her father's retainers trying to convince him to choose another family member from an extended branch as his heir.
And did I forget to say she saw through Toyotomi Hideyoshi's attempt of assault and chose to arm her and her maids with naginatas (and arquebuses too some sources say) while paying him a visit, and he wasn't able to do anything [though the account may be false, I took some ★★inspiration★★ of that too]
She also had an army of women she trained :).
I mean. To be honest there where so many other women out there too, Mitsuri, Daki, Kanao, Kanae Tamayo and Nakime's backstories will also have elements to other popular women back in the sengoku era while also mixing in their Canon backstories in the series.
But my favorite backstory drafts right now are: Shinobu, Makomo, Uta and Amane's
Because
Oh
My
God
Female Warrior Monks
Them. Even just thinking about their backstories make my bones chill bro, like the stories are so good I just wanna write it all down but I CaNT—
Yall I love this period so much I can't breathe. So many things bro I'm dying. It literally brings me Illiad levels kinds of HYPE!!.
Also the fact that Shinobu was trained by Himejima who is a monk like– I cannot NOT take this opportunity to make Shinobu a heiress, this without exactly the legitimate rule since she is still just a de facto daimyo as of now... as of now.
Also the fact that Ginchiyo married her childhood friend but in the end they didn't love each other and beared no children... :)))))
Are the other characters also modeled after famous Sengoku people?
Hell yes.
Though not one one specific person, more like the personalities are set from real people, and their backstory too but they are still, ya know. The same kny characters you know off.
The most obvious have already been seen honestly.
With Yoriichi acting out as the Kampaku, already a strong connection to Toyotomi Hidesyoshi.
And the two compelling forces of the story (AND MY FAVORITE CUZ OH GOD THE HISTORY! THEIR STORY! MUZAN ACTUALLY HAS BACKGROUND! KAGAYA TOO HELL YAS!) The Kibutsuji being a close resemblance to Oda Nobunaga and the Ubuyashiki a connection—especially since I said that the last battle was going to die of that from Sekigahara— To Tokugawa Ieyasu.
And our two new members
Akechi Hairo being a reference to Akechi Mitsuhide who betrayed Oda Nobunaga, while Hairo is just, lower moon 2 Hairo. [I don't sincerely have a few fleshed out backstories towards the Lower moons in this story—just like canon lol— but they still do have a bit of significance and relevance in some plots.
For example: The hand demon that we just say in chapter 11 and his Nii-chan.
And also Shinsaburo, 真三郎
真(Truth, same kanji as Makomo) 三(3, hehe) 郎(Young man/Male) who was a inspired by the poet and one of the government's leading generals in Kyushu, Imagawa Ryoshun(1326-1420), due to two things that will be part of Shinsaburo's backstory: His military achievement, and the tutoring of finest Uta poet of the fifteen century.
Moreover.
Poetry.
Damn.
Pretty good IG, if you know Japanese and kanji. I actually plan having those poetry contests[by myself :")] or making some waka during summer break once I start learning Japanese. I don't know if that'll work but It'll be fun.
I'll be like probably canon Iguro, just writing lovesick poems, but instead of Mitsuri it will be about the Maracuya iced mixed Soju[such a good drink it elevated me] and my ghost bunny.
Now.
WAR SHIPS ★v★
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ESPECIALLY THIS BABY GIRL!
LIKE OH MY GOD.
The upgrades, the fact that they put a freaking house over the whole thing. Just imagine how many row men you would need to build that thing. The wall put up on front with the little holes[hazama]! Just look at how cool that is! It really be an entire fortress floating!
Aaaand of course the first I hear of is from Oda Nobunagabuilding them but with iron in 1578....that's metal, hehe ( ˘ ͜ʖ ˘).
But overall the massive construction for these kinds of things, just to fall :"), damn it's like I'm watching the destruction if most castles in sengoku again.
Of course they were all just Atakebune.
Sekibune and the Gozabune (Kobaya) were also other kinds of ships out in the sengoku period. Respectively:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course they are much smaller than the atakebune because the atakebune was meant to be the largest, even had a turret over it (like the watchtower in which... moments happened ~) equipped with various equipment.
Though, due to their size it meant that these kinds of ships wouldn't be used as much [think they were more used to fight off the others in the Korean peninsula or missionaries, which is why the Koreans have their turtle ship and I have to say that man do I love that little ship, alongside admiral Yi who will appear, as someone else tho, for some crossover content in this fic, since I saw Korea and you know me gotta love those crossovers. So their main ships that where mostly used to fight in where the lighter and more comfortable Sekibune and Kobaya ships. There is also more information from a YouTube here, she talks so calmly about the 3 ships so if you wanna more info- there [sadly I had to put Google translations for this one :")]
As for some English vids, there are just Total war Shogun let's plays (":. Good game tho. It actually helped have an idea of what to make me write for these chapters. Alongside the battle of Miyajima which. For some reason. The only thing I could picture clearly. And it bugged me for most of the whole watch. Was.
What about an underwater kiss scene?
So I did that.
Freaking did that.
Time for some accidental cpr–kiss.
Shouldn't have listened to that cpr song. Now look at me. Trynna put a kiss scene there...
At least it went on in a natural matter.
Supposedly in the drafts it was just going to be a normal battle more focused on Sanemi and Giyuu development, seeing how they both act towards one another especially when they come from different ranks of society yet are going to marry the girls of the same household. So that way I can some Sanemi background explained after the battle. I'm still gonna do it tho, but once again, this was going to supposedly be a small small battle.
However this was Giyuu's debut to being a samurai so I was like NO.
And also had no internet so I rolled with another things which was the Miyajima Battle.
And oh boy I really expected to just be so few chapters not dragging 3 (4k) long chapters. Hopefully it can stop at two more because now we have Shinsaburo and Sanemi backgrounds to add on. Which.
Oh.
Boi.
That like opens up a whole new cast directly.
And because it's also the Giyuu~ Debout~ to a Samurai~
You get what this means no?
It will soon be time for the vows~~~~
Hehehehehhehehehe

Guess who forgot to update for a month because they were lazy.
Chapter 15: Having a Friend Isn't so Bad After All
Chapter 16: One Last Night
Chapter 17: The Bride's Husband
Spoilers:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And how so might that be? Why shall I not appear to post the chapters of the second arc?
Well honestly apart from a lot of work that's been piling up, nothing much really, it's going to be the last year before we move to Uni and so I might have to study a lot more: You know... Classical Literature, Learn Italian and German if I can, Apply for a scholarship, get as many good grades for that scholarship if I can help it, finally have my last year's to bond with a dad I lost for like 1/3 of my life, help my little brother out for his school, and just overall make it pass through this year starting since August, but of course the fic will still go on so it's not like I'm going on Hiatus and I'll still be making other fics, I just won't be posting on Tumblr as much.
But hopefully you like the next chapters :D! The to all who read to this part will see you soon on ao3 which is mostly where you can find me and ask anything you wish.

Finally coming in to post the last chapter of the first arc before 12 am:
Tumblr media
Chapter 13: Past, Present and what the Future awaits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hahaha, there is nothing more to say about this days, maybe the fact that it is said that Musashi never washed himself without his katana or clothes so as to never be taken advantage of or suddenly attacked on. Again I don't remember it that's was a rumor or if it was really true but it does sound like something Mushashi would do.
BUT ANYWAYS first arc is gone, main little tiny arc is gone and shall now be moved aside for the grand luxurious king of the second even tinier but important wedding arc and the then the other years and then the other years and then—God I wanna spoil but like can't, mustn't! As far as it is told the era has changed [a year ago] and new things have been made!
Next time it will be set in Bunroku 2 or 1593 *omg just as Toyotomi Hideyori is born but instead of a birth I wonder what this fic will bring~~*
Time for the epic clan battles!
The infamous clan leader to be met!
For the relationship to blossom even more!
The true enemies now linger oh so close!
And for the backstories to shine!! Shine I say! Will we get to learn about Shabana!? Or the Urokodaki's terrifying children!? The Kamado's secret!? Maybe even characters who had possibly started gathering their roots of a backstory as of now! Actions have consequences you know, so how many actions would and consequences would Giyuu and Sabito see and have to traverse through before they can finally have an era of peace?
Hmmm hmmm guess you'll just have to read :>

Chapter 12: Let Us Return
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah ha ha ha ha ha
Oh HA HA HA HA HA
IM ALIVEEEEEEE
Hah
And here it thought I wouldn't make it, truly a sad fest for all, truly an unreasonable fest for all those who thought I would die! Those including my family but thats about it— ANYWAYS NEW CHAPTER~~
Hell yeh.
And I got not much to say about historical things now.
I do however got a new routine and some advice while doing my own scandalous research through internet. So I may share if anyone is interested.
BOOKS: okay I went too hard but yeah, if you want to make a setting in a historical setting, historical novels or books that actually tall about that setting is really good for you to learn from. In my case I got the books from Stephen Turnbull, especially that samurai sourcebook because it has content in which you can draw from and maybe get to know more about it. As for novels I used Taiko and Musashi, two historical novels made by Eiji Yoshikawa—but why? Why not only use the Turnbull books that give out true information on battle formation, lives of samurai and more? Why go to novels? Because.
Novels are important: Reading upon other's works and especially when that work comes from people who are of the same ethnicity or native to the place you are doing research on will help a lot, in this case it is also easy to find things that you probably need but can't find it anywhere, for example, I got stuck trying to find what kind of drinks normal people would drink, and the books for research I found would only tell me what the samurai ate. There is the internet sure but sometimes the information is found with no sources or links and you are just like? Do I trust it? Not? So instead of wasting time, you can go to your novel, find out a page in which talks about what they eat and bam, problem solved, and if you don't trust it then that's fine because now at least you have a point from where you can research from, instead of just going blindly to Google asking what kind of food the lower class ate in 1590, you can go asking when was <this> dish made, or when did <this> drink get introduced. Far easier, I recommend it alot.
YouTube and Wikipedia: I know, kill me later but hear me out first. No I'm not asking you to have all your sources from here, let's be honest that would be way too trusting and too difficult to draw your conclusions on em. What I am saying is, study upon the basis of which this time period was set on by taking a few summaries at hand, what happened here, who where the people that fought and why, what was their economy like, how where their battles like, stuff that will let you gather more knowledge about what the character will deal with and what could be their motives for doing this and that. It could also help for your characters to be based around real people and battles. Like I said before, I used Tokugawa Ieyasu as Kagaya's basis of character and Muzan as Oda Nobunaga because their characters seemed to fit with who they are cannonically. Tokugawa is smart but a tranquil and patient man, he knows when to draw out the line and how to truly negotiate as we see him do so for the las battle at Sekigahara, so the man whose entire lifeline has been waiting for centuries to take down a demon king will certainly have almost the same traits. Meanwhile Oda was ambitious, wanting to unify all of Japan under his control, and creating terror over his enemies while also being smart enough to break even the great defenses of the Takeda clan, along the fact that he was also an innovator taking in everyone who seemed useful to his side, so the Demon progenitor Muzan whose entire goal was based around finding the blue lily no matter the cost would fit him nicely. And then the rest fall on and fall on.
Learn the lenguage: if you have time that is, because something great about that is the fact there truly is no barriers to stop you from learning much more about the reality of what happened in that period. You get to read from the first hand account of historians who have studied this over the years and the mistranslations can't stop you because you know full well what it's meaning is now.
Trips: once again only if you can, and if you don't then looking at common people's life through YouTube can be helpful, the same with watching historical dramas, especially those once again made by the ones who speak the language and have studied more about the time period. In my case, instead of watching movies like The Last Samurai, I went for the recommendations of Akira Kurosawa's movies because 1) he Japanese, 2) great director, and 3) has done quite a lot of movies that centered around the sengoku period so he had been known for that. And in the end I quite enjoyed it seeing the choreographed fights which helped me write fighting styles better. I also got to notice some things in the background that made the story all the more lively [i.e. the onlookers, the streets of people, the large ricefields and farm fields they used to grow other things that weren't rice, the geography, the scenery, the fights oh boy the fights of peasants and bandits—Just go watch Seven Samurai if you are interested, it's a good oldie for a reason.]
This are just from a hobby perspective, It can help if you are trying to make essays or work for your actual classes, but I don't recommend it fully trusting all of my advice for big things like research papers. Except for that thing about books, they are good. There are other people with more helpful advices down there but if you want to go all out on making the story as accurate as you wish, this was my advice and what I used while also not having to rely on a lot of research papers because, let's be honest, reading all the time can be absolutely boring.
Finally a big thanks to @daneesoro for all those fanarts! Like seriously they are so cool and gorgeous, hope you like the next chapter cuz some of those images might have gotten my brain inspired hehe :3 Yall can check em out here, here and here.

Chapter 14 : Special (3 extras)
The boy is coming soon~
The next arc too~
Damni just wanted some fun extras before we got into some heavy themes, cuz life ain't fun you know.
But on the bright side Sabigiyuu is as fluffy as possible, the drama is just around them for the most part.
I checked the plot again and...nevermind this whole part will absolutely be catastrophically long. :"V

The fox siblings :)
At least the ones that have an important role anyways.
cuz im bored imma put some extra info here.
First sketch is San-I-Dono, third eldest of the Urokodaki, likes boats and the sea a lot but his obbesion in mostly writting poems. Ever since he was brought to the Urokodaki house he has not once nagged or whined about anything. Until his 18th birthday he was always cooped up in his room writting letters to someone 0-0 hmmm who could it be...
2nd sketch, she is a very important character in revealing some information and vital to another thing. Anyways she likes flowers and makes tea out of them sometimes, her favorite games are Go and Shogi, one time she met a special boy that captured her heart and so she became very well versed in noh theater and stories so as to make him fall in love with her, did it work? Who can say~
3rd sketch is the most hated child and the most favorite child for lota reasons, Ryuuko, the pirate that shaped Sabito's skills and used to spank him all the time so as to get better. And Makomo! :D who is always such a baby caring for poor Sabito in this chaotic Urokodaki household. Ryuuko is our oldest but not THE oldest, that goes to someone else who will be gladly seeing soon~~
Anyways Ryuuko hates children, not with a burning passion—at least not until Sabito came— but what can he do? Makomo always sticks around him all the time and cries when he isnt present—in past, now she has grown into a POPA LADY so she only frowns at him when he comes back after leaving.
Ryuuko and Makomo painted the flowers on Shinsaburo's fan, and Shinsaburo always carries it with him even if the paintings look sloopy.

Chapter 8 : Make a man out of you.
Lets get down to bussiness!
To defeat! Muzan!~
Did they send me daughters~
When I asked🥁 for sons!
You're the saddest bunch I ever met
But you can bet before we're through
Mister, I'll make a man out of you!
*bobs head up and down in the library*
Tumblr media
-
Tumblr media
-
It is within my saddest form to inform you that I forgot about honorifics until a week later when i passed by the sengoku page and got to this monster. But alas i managed to edit a few chapters befire crying outloud and just deciding to ignore the "-san" that should have never appeared in this time and era until Edo.
*tucks away tears*
Alright so now to this part that no one asked! Info dump:
-In the language of flowers, honeysuckle is most commonly taken to mean love and affection. "The Language of Flowers" expands upon this symbolism, noting that honeysuckle has come to represent affection due to "its clinging to trees and lattices with all the ardour and constancy of a weak, confiding woman."
Do with that what you will.
-Yes Momotaro as in the little boy Momotaro that went on to defeat the demons, it started of as version around the muromachi period and wasnt written until the edo period so... Sabito heard the story from someone and he liked the name so he proceeded to name the horse Momotaro. Yeh.
-Also the name Usagi was for the shiba Inu gifted to him by Sanemi no less. On the first time they met, his dog had just given birth and he wanted to give the puppies away to good people, so one of them he gave to Sabito, also to fortify their alliance friendship but then Sabito proceeded to make a joke like "sweet now we can have dog meat" and thats how their rivalry began.)
-The warrior needs to master the bow and the horse as well as the brush and the word- was a common saying during the Kamakura period so i wanted to refrence it it here.
-Suo is around there vv
Tumblr media
I made it 8k long again for the purposes of not ~updating~ last~ time~
(Because apart from the church studies i need to study onver school work so im just like hmmmm dont wanna rise~~)

Chapter 7 No turning back now.
Got not a lot to say cuz it's just a laid back episode considering everything–
One thing I thought was funny to add was Sabito eavesdropping cut I was like "okay we need more Sabito scenes."
One braincell in the shower :"What about him hearing Shinobu proposal to Giyuu?"
"Ah! The scandal! Just like the one in Seven Samurai!"
"Oh shat did we get inspired or did we make a copy of Seven Samurai?"
"Idk."
"Idk."
"..."
"..."
"Put it in?"
"Yeah I just created more scenes to add that unrequited love feels in the next chapters."
So yeah, pull that arrange marriage on the tags.
And finally mmmmm some sketchy bad drawings made during some time.
Here are the bad sketches that im just tired to finish. :")and to broke to afford the save butyon on clipstudio.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On one part, yes, im not going too much on the historical side because 1)quick sketch and 2) too many things to add, so these are are very simplified, especially Shinobu's whose supposed to have a lot of layers, and Giyuu's whose armor should be more intricate.
If i ever get to drawing again the ill be sure to add more details.
And i dont know what i wanted to give giyuu, i was gonna put a yari i swear but then she actually changes to using a naginata later on and im just like—forgot so... stick, gonna carry a bonken then.
Shinobu im sorry ive been reading too many wuxia stories and made her pose like so out of habit.
Wanted Sabito to obviously use a samurai armor but then i saw the clock and i was like—ah! Cant do it! And so i choose to give him a haori and a hakama(fun side fact is that the haoris where just around that time being invented.)
By far the one I'm (slightly) proud of bottom pic Giyuu.
Might add the others later on cuz its fun.

It's here *grabs tissues* Its freaking here ;-;
Chapter 4: Friendships and Memories
Summary: Giyuu gets friends and then starts a fight. Sleeps and has crushing dreams *dabumz*
___
Oh boy is this just one of my favorite chapters because it has a ton load to unpack for like, two arcs and once climax, it's literal origin and—oh— oh my God the parts that are missing, so many, oh so many.
To be honest this one should have been broken into two chapters but most of the words at play come from the present and not from the flashback I couldn't really break it.... so have ~8k words instead.
The angst... to be fair this was quite light but hey its just the beginning.
As for there being any, some sort of new thing I learned about Japan.
Trust anime/j. There where literal 16 to 13(though rare) year olds out there fighting in the sengoku and I'm just here like, stressing out over writting... Damn they had so much going for them.
Two of my favorite examples-
Tokigawa Ieyasu fought his first battle at around 15 in the Siege of Terabe (Turnbull, Stephen (2012). Tokugawa Ieyasu. Osprey Publishing. p. 10)
Uesugi Kenshin at 15 was placed in joint command at the Tochio castle[hey kinda what Sabito is doing now!] And successfully defending it yeh.(Mvp Turnbull again ;-;)

"Wow! Two free weeks of vacation! I'm so going to write more!"
Narrator: Author said not knowing the literal hell that their grades put them into the next day.
But to be fair I did start two new works while not finishing the rest that's on me-
So back to the month hiatus while I get to finish moon breath. Have 5k words instead.
Chapter 5: It's all just a game.
Hey how you doing, this was my personal most troublesome chapter because damn do I not know a d@mn thing about Shōgi.
So I started looking for tutorials on how to teach me. Which only got me until like episode 8 before I noticed that I didn't even start writing the start and a week had gone by.
I tried, and eventually just let the characters play Shogi more
[Which seemed more fun since you can turn the opponents pieces against them so... ★v★]
But don't worry not everything was about Shogi, there was also that one fight with Sabito and Sanemi, some nice bonding between Akaza and Giyuu because boy will that friendship blossom, and a bit more Himejima since chapter 7 will be talking about the aftermath of chapter 6, and there's a lot to talk about that chapter.
On another side of things I shamelessly wrote Sabito to have bunny antics [like tapping on his foot when he's exited or just jumping a lot during his battles] because 1) cute, 2) Yall that Tanjiro and Sabito fight in Canon made me t h i n k while I was writing his fighting style, and due to the past I wrote for him, it's kinda obvious where he could have copied his movements from.
The rest will have some kinds of antics to compare them to their "Muichiro assigned spirit animals".
There will also be a lot of the whole "dragon of <>" "Tiger of <>" because I'm extra like that [and has a certain meaning behind it but that's homework]
But canon Giyuu, real talk, who do you even play Shogi with if you have no friends?

Chapter 6: Where is my daughter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yay we finally get some Tanjiro and Zenitsu interactions :"D to light up the mood!
Chapter warning: Mentions of child marriage
Thankfully they don't happen in the fic.
Okay damn, this was another level of dark I don't usually do. Usually it's always filled with character deaths so it's mostly an angst that you feel bad at because someone you like died, not the kind of angst that makes you remember how some kinds of messed up things happened back in some eras.
Though even then I might have exaggerated, so you may feel slightly more relieved (?) Since the youngest that could be found where not pregnant or moved into the households until later years.
And those were already way too rare marriages to be considered normal, so no, this was not the common thing, this was just as rare as a shark attack. Even then in those marriages the woman wouldn't be pregnant or wouldn't go live at the husband's household until she was around 13-14 since that was the age when women would have already learnt from reading to writing so that she could have learnt to manage the household.
As a daughter of a noble family who grew up near the capital, Kiyoko was trained in the arts, most notably writing and poetry. Education for their children was highly valued by such families living in the provinces, as it enabled them to distinguish themselves from the “warrior other” and maintain cultural ties with Kyoto.
Source thankfully found after some digging.
Bringing up another point, women where not simply tools to make heirs with, since the marriage was not a union of two people but rather two households. These marriages where arranged for the family by the family to benefit the family.
"Officially recognized marriages such as these were intended to produce heirs, thereby cementing important political and social alliances among the military or with prestigious court families."
From same source which is also important to bring up the heir for a reason but that's on another topic right now and it 5:30 am here so nu I won't go into much detail.
But anyways let's talk about something that isn't as disturbing.
Bombs!
Hahaha ha why am I like this...
I may have actually changed a bit the usage on grenades(somewhat) used at that time just for the fun sake of it.
Where there actually grandes in sengoku? Surprisingly to me, yes, they where called Horokuhiya and now recognized as Horokudama which was "similar to a modern incendiary bomb, but its main purpose was to have explosive power to wound and kill enemies with broken fragments of its container, so the fire itself was not likely a very powerful attack."
And I did just use it to destroy a wall so my bad, don't take them as very powerful weapons when in fact they where only able to tear through wood.
Maybe the shack was made out of pure wood? Eh, Ok.
Forgot add this was also some self projecting since my bunny died and i needed some stress relief.

Imma just promote third and second chapter cuz I forgot to do it last time.
Chapter 2: Genpuku
There was a small reason why didn't upload this story after actually, I wanted to get better at art because there would be alot of clothing that, if I had a good pen at art, It would have helped a lot. At last I can only provide with descriptions until next year. Maybe I might add drawings after the next year once I get better.
Surprisingly there isn't much going on in this chapter, up until chapter 5 or 6 is when the spicyness happens~
Chapter 3: Ashigaru of Chikuzen.
Meaning the foot soldier of Chikuzen.
Which would be here let me show you with this photo from The Wikipedia Commons by Stuart Rankin...
Tumblr media
And also very sorry to say that Fukuoka might have not been until edo but at this point but I'm sweating over too many details because history never wants to be accurate with me so imma just do the same.
Also here is the map of Kyushu, the sources are from Samurai Sourcebook by Stephen Turnbull. Which I use this mostly since at
Tumblr media
It shouldn't have taken them a week to get there I know, like maybe 2 to 4 days.(That or I tend to just walk a lot and I'm overestimating idk) Which will be explained in another chapter why it took so long.
I got a lot of sources by Stephen Turnbulls books ngl, they are kinda fun to read alongside "Taiko" The epic novel by Eiji Yoshikawa. Unlike the novels however, Stephen Turnbull provided pictures for me which god may I just say saved me too many times especially when I am just a teen without knowing a speck of Japanese and just wanted to write a fic :"v
Some other sources where from
This blog spot
And
A Sengoku Jidai site
As well as others that I might put all the sources by the end of the series.
Thank you for passing by(^ω^)

Im having SO much fun(and pain) writting that Sabigiyuu Mulan fic which will take place in the sengoku era. (The war is fictional, since yes, but it does take place at the end of the sengoku era)
Honestly as much as there is a lot to keep track of, Ive decided to focus my inspirations from the battle of sekigahara as the climax of the story.
But i also draw a lot of inspirations from other tales and history.
For example, i will also include a lot of scenes(mostly romantic) to those of the 1964 film(which is a super awesome film but maybe im just biased bc I love watching black and white films) "Lady general hua Mulan" as well as sooo many more taiga films I have started watching to pass my time [currently watching 47 ronin, god bless youtube and subtitles].
Then I would also like to mix in a few words from the original poem of Mulan, maybe I might put a little bit of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's life into fem Giyuu bc... well it's Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
Honestly I would have loved to put some references to Yukibana no Tora but damn did they leave me with only 4 chapters ;-;.
So to check the list off I want to mash up elements of:
-Mulan(1998) (surprisingly similar to the 1964, and I've heard that it might have been inspired from that so...)
-Lady General Hua Mulan (1964) (There is so much more romance I swear-- It's soo good ;^; and even if I can see the pixels I love em- Why didn'twe see general Mulan flirt with Shang in the disney movie whyyyy-)
-Ballad of Mulan original poem(they have bunnies! So Sabito is referenced as a bunny at the end! This is ma fanfic I'll make the fluff worth it-)
-The battle of Sekigahara (If only there was a movie... a translated movie...) (also THERE WILL BE THAT MOVE- THERE WILL THAT PLOTWIST- I KNOW EXACTLY WHO IS MAKING THAT MOVE YEEEE--) (God I love it when history gets dramatic)
-Toyotomi Hideyoshi's rise to power(Oda = Being called the demon lord. Muzan=being a demon lord, I swear the juicy AU is right T H E R E--) (Fem giyuu won't be that powerful but the loyalty of Toyotomi to Nobunaga will be reflected on Sabito and Giyuu oks?)
-Some Taiga dramas(like heaven and earth(1990), 47 ronin[its 3 hours long but its ok James Cameron prepared me for this-] , the only taiheiki episode [:"v they had football(kemari), I wanna see Michikatsu and Yoriichi playing football (Kemari)], Masamune love and ambition... ect. ) Edit: I know now that 47 ronin in the edo period not the sengoku and Teiheiki is in the end of the kamakura period (:"D i am ashamed of myself, bury me please.) Will i still watch them? Heck yes imma binge, but ill just have to set my sights on a different set of films, (so that i can get the feeling, lately I have seen Eiji Yoshikawa's books and i am intrigued (because Taiko got me hooked and finally showed me what kind of drinks existed back in that era) . Also Shogun by James Clavel
This is too much for what apperantly is just gonna be 11 to 13 chapters... might have each one be 2k to 5k long, because I'm that bitch.
After this I might write an angsty Shinogiyuu fic inspired by the butterfly lovers( Liang Zhu) from China. (Commit Karoshi why don't ya-)
