About your Jen 10 AU; do Jen and Gwen have a less… “argumentative” dynamic with each other?
Yeah, I plan for them to kind of have a not great relationship that gets worse before it gets better for quite a bit. Since I plan on splitting up the events of the OG series into 3 separate summers and adding in world building from later series into these adventures I actually want to develop their relationship and dynamic.
Idk if many fans ever think about it but it makes so much sense that Ben and Gwen don’t like each other in the OG. Gwen wasn’t supposed to be on the trip, they never ever planned for her to be there and suddenly there she is with no warning. Her plans are canceled and ruined with no explanation and nothing she would want to do is accounted for, there’s just what Ben and Max wanted. Both Ben and Gwen don’t want Gwen to be there. So Ben gets blindsided and Gwen is mean to Ben then Ben is mean right back. There’s more to it but that’s the inciting incident.
I’m playing around with a similar premise. But once the hostilities are aired they don’t show back up and they become very close. Also I’m not dragging out their issues either. It’ll be addressed in summer 1 and resolved in summer 1.

So a neat detail in the Storm Vessel Au that I wanna talk about is how when Jay is in his chaotic, purple form, he's pretty much always floating above the ground. He never has his feet touch the ground unless he's knocked onto the ground or something like that. And even then he almost immediately starts floating again.
Meanwhile, when Jay is blue and in control of himself, he prefers standing on the ground instead of floating. And it's not like he can't float while in his blue state, he can he just usually chooses not to.
Now, is this symbolic of Jay's connection to Cole and how when Jay is in control, he prefers to be in direct contact with the earth but when he isn't in control he prefers to avoid contact with the earth specifically because that's Cole's element? I mean, the symbolism wasn't intentional at first but now that I've realized that the symbolism is there it's making me go feral /pos

So, the thing with youtube word censorship is..... it isn't actually a thing. Very much youtube DOES restrict monetisation based on content, which can include sensitive topics like rape or suicide, youtube does! not! audio monitor most words!!
Yes, you can be demonetized for heavy, strong language or strong language in the first seconds. You obviously can be for like, slurs. Otherwise, you can't be demonetized for word use!*
*there is more nuance to this, but generally yes
I'm not like arguing with anyone in particular or defending youtube as a free speech haven, but it drives me mad when people diminish a serious topic by being afraid to say 'abuse' out loud, you know? When you upload a video, you get a form to fill and you have to flag if it has significant difficult content (shock/controversy/guns/sex/swearing).
Tumblr media
(the see more here is much much more specific, this is things like suicide, self harm, eating disorders, etc)
Most of the time you won't have to flag any of it, because brief casual mention is fine. If you do have to flag, the lowest tier of discussion still rarely would result in losing any ad money. Notably, language used is not a specific factor, it's content.
...
This is also even more true for on screen text. There are certain things about explicit language being censored, fuck vs f--k, but the word suicide? does not need to be censored! You can put a trigger warning in right away, using many tricky words, and as long as your video isn't classified as for kids you should be scot-free.
Like, I know.
Tumblr media
(It's all just born from the fear of 'the algorithm' which might be secretly monitoring audio to secretly censor things.)

I hate to say it but I feel like if Wyll and Mizora's genders were reversed people might actually take the implications of their relationship seriously. It seems that the abusive dynamic is treated as a joke moreso than not (especially after watching the Christmas animated short), it's almost forgotten that Mizora manipulated and groomed Wyll into signing the contract as a child and has been abusing him since.
I don't like bringing gender into the conversation because the whole "oh if their genders were swapped..." is often used as a dog whistle by misogynists, but it's so clear that this is the case, I even see it with Gale and Mystra's relationship too (as well Halsin and the drow to a further extent).
I'm really glad that for the other companions the trauma they have faced at the hand of their abusers is taken seriously throughout the game, but we need to keep the same energy for Wyll too.

It's funny that even though ppl who freak out that "oh my God this AI is intentionally lying to me" are silly - if the answer the AI gives is actually wrong/implicitly takes a political stance....that does genuinely reflect something objective about the actually-existing state of readily-available information for real people to form their opinions around

it’s nice how the hanza dynamics initially established can sometimes compound with more character development further on…
as milva and regis are established to be action and words, doing and thinking, brawn and brains… this is very good on its own as how they are introduced in baptism of fire, but also…
their balanced approaches can be relevant to angoulême’s arc in the company because she has been so disconnected from her body by what she’s suffered, conditioned into thinking of her body as an object and bargaining chip… and with no credence ever given to her mind, soul, identity…
in milva’s domain of the physical body, she can become reconnected with her body, learn that her body is hers and not property of anyone’s… for once notice its movements, feel its feelings, not give it up to others, ignore its pain and retreat into numbness…
and in regis’ domain of thought and the metaphysical, she can recognize her mind and conceptualize herself as a person, immerse herself in her own thoughts and evaluate situations with prudence…
and these are also arcs which milva and regis had to accomplish in their individual respects… milva had to recognize her own bodily autonomy, regis had to sit and think about life…

I feel like this is important for analysis but WxS's plays/in-story scripts have been getting gradually darker.
Like this isn't me reaching or anything they've factually have gotten darker and in some ways more ""realistic"" (keep in mind i'm not counting the play at the end of Happy End cos that's just a rewritten version of an old play).
I think the best way to really see this change is to kind of go through each arc and kinda view how the plays are. Now I'm doing this by memory so if I get a play wrong that's why.
1st arc.
So from Rui's first to Emu's first, we have the zombie play, the christmas play and the play to help revive Pheonix Wonderland's popularity.
Those are all pretty child friendly plays, that can be seen as lighthearted even if they do have their own emotional moments.
2nd arc.
This is where things start transitionning into a more serious tone in terms of the plays.
At first we have the play in Nene and Tsukasa's second event which both are kind of the same vibe as the 1st arc plays.
HOWEVER it's when we reached Rui's 3rd even that things take a turn in my opinion.
The story focusing on the tragic story of two androids having lived different lives, one being turn into a weapon for war.
Rui's 3rd event kind is overall a massive turn in WxS's story in general and it was kind of the point where extremely painful events started being handed like candy.
There is the Peter Pan play in Admist a Dream that kinda contradict this switch in tone but I don't really count it since it's story is not really the focus of the event and more so serves to push certain themes with Emu.
Then we have the famous Pheonix event...which like I think I don't need to explain.
3rd arc.
Now things get weird since, the Android and Pheonix play while both being a lot more dramatic and "darker" still had aspects of fantasy in them.
However the two "plays" (the second one is not a play but a film script but shhhhhhhh) are purely set in a realistic setting and obviously feel a lot more mature as a result.
This is also without pointing that both of the stories are extremely similar with a depressed male lead who is said or hinted to have suicidal thoughts until something brings them out of it.
So yeah, here's some food for analysis for what this means for WxS's story as whole

Thoughts On Toram Banwaves & The Future of Mellorism.
I'll never regret creating Mellorism. I mentioned this before. But somehow, I do regret basing Mellorism off of another IP.
I realized, maybe I should've made it original, or loosely based on Toram Online at least. Because if Asobimo (the company that owns the game) majorly screws up or shuts down, Mellorism may just... become irrelevant.
Toram Online is notorious for their awful, awful customer support and automoderation. Players get banned left and right for doing literally nothing. Party up with cheaters accidentally? Banned. Use a skill too much? You're a bot now, because the system says so. You know where bots go? In the bin. It's so bad that a ban can happen randomly now, even if you're a player with an honest heart.
If you've seen the flurry of complaints from players, I can confirm it's real, and has been an issue for a while now. And the kicker is, getting unbanned never happens, even if it was a mistake on the company's part.
Also, before I scare anyone: I did NOT get banned. At least by the time I posted this, not yet.
However, if my Toram account does get swept away during a banwave, what will happen to Mellorism? Honestly, no matter what, I'm still determined to finish season 1. I want it done. I love the characters and the story that much. It's going to be hell gathering screenshots and refs for it though, but I'll manage.
I planned Mellorism season 2 since the beginning, but I'm seriously stopping the show to just Episode 10 (season 1 finale) if my account ever disappears. Season 2 will be discontinued then, even the little sidestories I planned, but this is a MASSIVE IF. To be honest, because of their constant automod mismanagements, it's possible that I (and even my friends who voice the characters) get wiped out of their servers one day. Let's just hope that day never comes.
Funny how an entire season of content is completely dependent on how my Toram account fares.
... Making fanworks is hard.

when it comes to the defense of fanfiction, i dislike remarks along the lines of "the divine comedy is just fanfic!!" not because i look down on fanfic, but because i want to acknowledge the unique merits of fanfic, because i love fanfic and fanfic authors and transformative fandom. every story is in conversation with other stories, but every story is not fanfic. there is always going to be overlap of course, there are similarities between why people create and enjoy fanfic and why they create and enjoy other forms of literature, as well as similarities in content and style, but this type of flippant response is SO common now and has done way more harm than good. you don't need to justify your love of fanfic by erasing what's special about modern transformative fandom, the solution is not to broaden the category. instead, stop letting people use the term fanfic as a pejorative. it's their loss, not yours.

I think my least favorite thing that happens in fandom spaces is how overly familiar people act towards you. Like whenever I get a post over 200 notes I have people making jokes in the tags that aren't like outright distressing or gross or anything but that just. idk! are jokes I would only make with people I know. Like "fuck you!" or "oh this is awful" or whatever that's done in a joking tone but it's still weird. You don't know me like that
And it's not so much a problem over here because we are so insular as a community so even if I don't know you guys by name or if we don't follow each other I still recognize the person commenting on my stuff. enough to almost certainly recognize the joking tone instantly and for that familiarity there to be warranted. we're not friends but it's like, yeah! I know this person they've been here forever. It's comfortable.
But in larger spaces that casual familiarity is gone. I've literally never interacted with you before. It's like if you overheard a conversation on the street and just walked in and started joking around with them like you knew them. it's uncomfortable!! and like yes obviously I'm looking for interactions when I post and tag things that's the whole point, so it is inherently different than say a private conversation being intruded on but djakfoofjf just don't act like you know someone you've literally never engaged with at all before.

DOES NO ELSE KNOW THAT VICTOR AND JEROME WERE ON GAME OF THRONES?!
That’s right, folks, Francis Magee aka Victor Rodenmaar Jr. was on Game of Thrones, he played Yoren in S1-S2, a brother of the Night’s Watch and a recruiter for them as well. He made easy friends with Tyrion Lannister, Robb and Ned Stark, and eventually Arya Stark. He got along with Tyrion due to the fact that unlike his comrades, Yoren had a sense of humor. Imagine Victor but cool. And later on *spoilers if you haven’t seen the show*
when Ned’s put in public for execution and Arya managed to escape the Lannister guards, he sees her in the crowd and nods his head to Yoren to try to get her to safety. He does. And he holds her close and shields her ears when her father is executed.
Tumblr media
Immediately after he cuts off Arya’s hair and instructs her to pretend to be a boy called Arry for her own safety whilst they travel back to the North. He planned on taking her to her brother Robb who became the current Lord of Winterfell following their father’s death.
Tumblr media
Yoren is also the one to give Arya the idea for her infamous ‘list’. Her own hit list of people she’s planning on killing which she recites every night before going to sleep. It becomes so important to her ritual that she can’t even sleep before reciting it completely.
and as for Eugene Simon aka Jerome Clarke? He played Lancel Lannister, a cousin of Cersei, Jaime, and Tyrion Lannister for S1-2, and S5-6.
Tumblr media
He originally was just King Robert’s cup bearer and I think he was his squire? Can’t remember fully but I do know that whilst Jaime was out of King’s Landint, Lancel was the one keeping Cersei satisfied if you know what I mean. And yes, they’re cousins, and Cersei fucks her brother Jaime, this isn’t brand new or quite shocking, it’s pretty standard GoT. He’s even involved for killing the king as he kept supplying him with wine and alcohol during a hunt, a boar got to him and he couldn’t drunkenly defend himself.
Then he gets blackmailed by Tyrion for a bit S2 for fucking Cersei. Gets kicked back home too by the end I’m pretty sure. though we get to see him in armor for a bit:
Tumblr media
Then comes back on S5 looking like this:
Tumblr media
He becomes a very religious zealot as he believes he is ‘redeemed’ in the eyes of their gods, the Seven and he just gets very faith involved, even trying to ask Cersei, the Queen Mother, to absolve her sins by being honest about her incest with him (and her brother). She laughs him off very easily and even tries to use the other followers that the new Septon, the High Sparrow, has accumulated to her own gains by getting rid of her sons new wife, Margaery Tyrell, by having her brother Loras arrested for sleeping with men.
By S6 it gets progressively worse, not only did Cersei get what she wanted, her son’s wife, Margaery, gets taken away as well because she knew her brother was involved with men and ‘did not inform the church of these indiscretions’ so she has also sinned. But then Cersei gets a taste of her own medicine and she gets imprisoned too as Lancel has told the High Sparrow everything and he even gets this fucking carving on his forehead.
Tumblr media
Cersei gets her revenge in a big way if you’ve seen the show.

literally the inside of our brain would be uninhabitable to 99.3% of the human population if they had to experience it on a normal day. but you know those strong as fuck bacteria that survive and evolve after getting slammed with a gallon of hand sanitizer? yeah thats all of the frequent fronters in this system. we r just chilling in the radioactive acidic likely incredibly toxic sludge.

super thankful to be in a very strongly neurodivergent relationship and that we are both just as kooky and weird. unstoppable force tbh. anyway i also very much appreciate that we are in agreement when it comes to the living situation (for when we move in together). my dream is a 2-3 bedroom apartment/house in which we both have our own separate bedrooms but also one big common space that we can join in each other in whenever we please. thats why im thinking 3 bedrooms so we can have a master....... like that's the big shared bedroom where we both have input in our style and preference & then alongside that we have our separate private spaces. that idea is so special to me as someone who did not get very much input in the design of their space as a child. And even now while i still live with my parents im conflicted on what i should do with my space. very hard to navigate when i have felt infantilized over it for a while
