Speaking of zhezhi... Are you familiar with Konan from Naruto? Or the Papermasters from Read or Die?

Since Dashi was the wind dragon, he could use folded paper as deadly attacks just like they did! I feel like it'd be just like him. He doesn't have any proper weapons on him, maybe the enemy confiscated them or ambushed him while he was unarmed, so he takes pages out of books and scrolls and ads and whatever and whips up a maelstrom like Konan or the Paper Sisters!

That's a nice concept!

Although since jutsu has its own rules, Dashi's way of using Konan's attacks would be different. The most notable difference could be that Dashi's paper tags would not explode. Additionally, Dashi would see no use of paper wings because the wind carries him on its own. However, I see Dashi using paper as shurikens!

As far as I can agree these powers between Konan and Dashi are similar, let's not forget they have different personalities and hence different fight styles. Konan is precise and knows when to use a particular skill while Dashi simply wants to mess with his opponent. However, when the situation gets serious he can try to manipulate paper to his advantage. Just like Konan in the 1st gif, he would manipulate as many paper scraps to throw his opponent off balance and strike at the right moment.

And as Dashi is known for experimenting either with wus or his own elemental powers, I think he would try to make a paper clone of himself. However, it might not be as graceful as Konan demonstrated in her fight with Sasori. I doubt that paperDashi would look like the original. More like a stuffed puppet but hey. It still would serve as a nice diversion!

Just imagine. You're a great grandmaster, you're fighting another meat bag and suddenly your brothers call for you. You have no time to deal with your enemy so you simply yeet a paper dummy at them. Super effective and HILARIOUS!

As for the Papermasters from Read or Die, I hear about them for the first time in my life but after watching a short clip on yt, I would say without hesitation THESE incredible moves Dashi could've pulled off!

Maybe the grandmaster is not good at making clones, but he would have perfected making big animals out of paper so they could serve as allies during a bigger battle. Like damn, make a whole dragon out of paper!!!! And these could contrast Wuya's golems and that would only highlight Wuya-Dashi's relation as each other's foils! But I believe there would be certain limitations. For example, Dashi could not prevent them from falling apart after several minutes, and a more powerful force could damage them easily, so they could not participate in the further battle etc. But locals and regular human enemies are losing their minds at the sight of wandering white forest/mystical creatures lol And these are good to deal with bandits.

I really liked the moment in which the girl from the vid created an entire bow with an arrow. That could serve as a funny comedic situation between Dashi, Chase and Guan. In a dire situation only striking an enemy with an arrow could save Dashi, however, his brothers are occupied.

Dashi: Chase, give me a bow!!!!

Chase: Can't! Can't you see I'm busy!?

Guan: I believe you'll figure that out. You always do!

Dashi: (starts complaining because he has never been a fan of additional effort)

Chase: For god's sake! Here take this! (throws a bow)

Dashi: (catches the bow) Finally! Thanks!

Chase: it's of no use anyway. We have no arrows left

Dashi: (gasp) what do we do!?

Chase: I don't know! Make it out of paper or something, genius!?

Dashi: heeeeeeeeeey that's not bad thanks, Chase

and then Guan and Chase witness Dashi shooting a final blow with the use of an inconspicuous quickly crafted paper arrow. The boys would laugh at it later Dashi took Chase's suggestion too literally xD

Octonauts x Sky: CoTL AU. if you even care

The main 8 are a group of Skykids who all were born during Season of Abyss. They call themselves the Octonauts, led by one named Barnacles. They’re dedicated to finding and helping any and all other Light Creatures that are in need of help, but are most often found in Isle of Dawn helping Moths through their first hours of life.

Some notes:

• All names are the same as they were in the og show.

• Tunip is the leader of a partnering group called the Vegimals. He’s the main representative of them, and the Vegimals most commonly work in the Sanctuary Islands. They have higher swimming ability than the Octonauts.

• The Gups are another partnering group called, well, the Gups. Their leader is Octopod (Polly/Jarvis). They work best in Golden Wasteland, and are very skilled at distracting/fighting Dark Creatures.

I have designs for the Gups and Lars (who’s going to have a VERY different role than you may expect), please look forward to them in another post :)

Finally watching above and beyond!

I have only seen to the wild windstorm episode and I HAVE to specifically talk about THAT episode. First of all ...I knew it I knew it!!!! I knew my girl Dashi was Captain material! Is not only an speculation, no more!

Is amazing to see how much faith everyone has on her, especially the Captain; and don't make me star with the little fist bump those two had, it was such a sweet moment of pure trust and support, kind of like saying "yeah, you are ready for this".

The Captain was her father figure during that episode and nobody can say otherwise, it just-did you see how happy, proud and even relieved he was when she managed to complete the mission and, most importantly, get back safe to the octopod????? He even hugged Tunip of pure joy!!Glorious!!! And Dashi remembering every time what the Captain taught her to keep everything under control??? Glorious Glorious Glorious!!!!

Plus to all that professor Natquik was in the episode and that make it 10 times better, he will always make my smile <3

If this is what above and beyond has to offer, I'm totally in!

rainbow dash human headcanons wooo!! (going to be mad long j a warning)

she is 19. i actually do not like the idea of her being short/average height! I see her as ab 5’9 so tall but not taller than applejack duh

she is def very thin but toned!! she just zooms around toooo much for me to think she’s jacked 😢 i HIGHLY dislike it when people use bra sizes as a guide bc they vary so much depending on the band sizes. she is flat chested like let’s be real here. i also j LOVE this idea of rarity basically forcing her do to modeling for her fashion designs bc of her proportions and because everyone loves rarity she will do it just for her 😏

ethnically i like the idea of her being hispanic & white, was thinking along the lines of colombian or cuban?? and then i feel like the white would be italian, specifically having an italian mom bc they are something! skintone i see her as very tan. naturally and due to being outdoors allll the time

it’s time to discuss the classic one.. what is rainbow dash’s sexuality? my idea is she would only ever date a girl because she is literally a gay horse but BUT she is not opposed to getting w/ men. this is because she is kind of a slut! i just see her having a higher libido and not giving a fuck about being “ran through” bc she knows it’s all misogynistic bullshit. i also feel like she ends up getting w/ a lot of her friends bc she is just that bitch. definitely twilight, rarity, pinkie, & aj. no fluttershy bc she sees her as the sister she never had.

appearance-wise she mainly wears shorts, jeans kinda like a levi’s 501, crop tops and sweats. she will dress up depending on the occasion. she is obsessed with converse for sure. she has a bunch of ear piercings and three big tattoos. one of them is ofc a pair of wings on her back, then lightning bolts under one ribcage and clouds under the other. in general she is very pretty and she in fact cares a lot about her appearance. she keeps her hair about armpit length because she feels more traditionally feminine that way, and she keeps it up all the time. i’m thinking naturally light brown hair and blue eyes and she would eventually bleach her hair and dye it rainbow.

she has ADHD, PTSD, and seasonal depression, with the PTSD and seasonal depression stemming from a major car accident she was in at 14 that killed both of her parents and severely injured her. she kinda “copes” with it by smoking a ton of weed during the off season from soccer since she wouldn’t want to test positive for any drugs & she just for sure has a thing for beer and cider. scotch if she wants to get really fucked up

last but not least, applejack ❤️ she has had a crush on applejack for FOREVER and after they drunkenly hookup AJ begins to see her in this way.

Have you seen this childhood show: Octonauts (2010-Present), United Kingdom and Ireland (English, was dubbed in many other languages)

Commentary/Context/Memories:

First user commentary: I loved this show as a kid, both me and my best friends neurodiversity latched onto it as young kids and we aren’t as obsessed about it now, but is still one of the kid shows that we will gladly watch with our younger siblings. gotta love shows that are a bit more subtle educational shows. i still remember so many facts lmao

Second user commentary: Shout out to this show for getting me interested in vehicle design! I mean- LOOK at the OCTOPOD. That was the coolest thing I ever saw as a child and it’s still the coolest thing I’ve seen today.

[Mod A: According to the wikipedia, this show is like a kids version of Star Trek or the Thunderbirds (in terms of the exploration and educational factor), which is pretty cool! It was about an underwater crew made of eight members (all with their own special skill sets) who use fictional high tech machines to explore the ocean. While the machines and the Octopod (their home base) is fictional (so far), the actual environments they explore (like the Great Barrier Reef) and the animals they meet (like the whale shark) are very real! The cast comprises of Barnacles (Polar Bear, Captain), Kwazii (Cat, Lieutenant/Cryptozoologist), Peso (Penguin, Medic), Prof. Inkling (Dumbo Ocotpus, Founder/Oceanographer), Dr. Shellington (Sea Otter, Biologist), Tweak (Rabbit, Engineer), Dashi (Dachshund, Computer Programmer/Photographer) and Tunip (Vegimal, Chef). I was heavy into marine biology (as well as Astronomy) as a kid, so if this show came out earlier, I would’ve been really into it, particularly since it was quite educational and provided interesting facts about the ocean and the animals that live there. Dr. Shellington (the sea otter) probably would’ve been my favourite, bc that’s my favourite marine animal <3]

sculptor!! I am obsessed with this piece he made for the Minotaur ballet, because. well.

those were those on my list, i'm sure there are plentyyyyyyy more. i focused on Buryat because that's what the discussion was about, but i know that there is a whole scene out of there of siberian & central asian indigenous artists, and the younger generations (around my age) are using the internet more and more to share their creation...!

I was very fortunate to win the giveaway from @agrosehamada and it came in!! Emily was so excited to get some mail and try on her new dress!!

Everything is so gorgeous and detailed!! And as both of us are red heads we absolutely love the Ariel doll!!! I’m also absolutely obsessed with the lanyard!! It’s so cute!! I may just put my Merida pin on it!

BNHA Observations, speculations and assorted info: Pre-marriage Todoroki Enji (Part 1)

So, in order to write my fic, I spend much time observing canon scenes, comparing the manga and the anime version, take note of details, translations and info in them as well as finding out how are some things called.

Since what I noticed/speculated/found out can be of use for other fic authors I thought to share as well.

To this date the chapter that shows the youngest Todoroki Enji is 356, which include some sort of dream/hallucination in which Enji faces his past self and his 'origin' so first let's look at...

THE FULL SEQUENCE AS IT IS IN THE MANGA

There are two core scenes, one depicting Enji's father's death preceded by a speech of young Enji:

'Sara ni yowaku natta' 「更に弱くなった」 “You became beyond weak.”

'Tachiba to tsugunai to ayamachi to sekinin ga' 「立場と償いと過ちと責任が」 “Position, atonement, mistakes and responsibility.”

'Omae no seirai no yowasa wo abaki dashi miru ni taenai guzu e to hikizuri oroshita' 「おまえの生来の弱さを曝き出し見るに堪えない愚図へと引きずり下ろした」 “Your innate weaknesses was exposed and I can't bear to see how you were dragged down into an indecisive person.”

'Chōjin ni wa narenainda yo Enji (omae) wa' 「超人にはなれないんだよ炎司（おまえ）は」 “Enji, you can’t become a superhuman.”

'Genten wo omoi dase' 「原点を思い出せ」 “Remember your origin.”

While fighting the Nomu Enji said he hated U.A. School motto, Plus Ultra or, in Japanese 'Sarani mukō e' (更に向こうへ "Beyond the other side" or, better "Further beyond"). Now his past self seems to taunt him saying 'Sara ni yowaku natta' (更に弱くなった “You became beyond weak.”)

'Seirai no yowasa' (生来の弱さ) is translated as 'weakness that was always there' in the English version but 'seirai' (生来) actually make clear the weakness is innate, by nature. In short Enji was born weak and tried to hid it. 'Guzu' (愚図), more than a loser is a 'foolish figure', a 'dullard' or also an 'indecisive person'. Enji project an air of arrogance and security but Enji's younger self is implying he's basically not capable.

The official translation uses "Superhero" to translate 'Chōjin' (超人), but there's no 'hero' in the word, someone can be a 'Chōjin' (超人) and be a villain. Ironically we could also translate it as 'superman', and considering later Enji uses laser eyes like Superman I wonder if this was planned.

'Teki ga nan datta no ka wo' 「敵が何だったのかを」 "What was the enemy?"

'Akkan kara shoujo wo sukuou to shi kekka shoujo moro tomo nikukai to ka shita chichi wo' 「悪漢から少女を救おうとし結果少女もろとも肉塊と化した父を」 "Your father tries to save a girl from a scroundel and, as a result, he and the girl were turned into a lump of meat."

The way the sentence is put, it seems to imply that the girl and Enji's father both died because the man tried to save her.

Enji is witnessing the scene, a schoolbag on his back. His school uniform misses the shoulder insigna and the necktie which are part of U.A. summer uniform, so it's possible this took place before Enji joined U.A.

The whole implication of the sentence and the dialogue seems to be that since his father was weak, he caused his own death as well as the one of the girl, and this should have started Enji's obsession for strength.

Young Enji goes on speaking about other things Enji should remember:

’Shin no choujin he no senbou to higami wo’ 「真の超人への羨望と僻みを」 “Your envy and inferiority complex toward a true superhuman…”

Again, the official translation uses plural but there's the image of All Might and in My Hero Academia Ultra Archive is made clear Enji previously viewed everyone else but All Might as weak, so the 'true superhuman' is solely All Might back in his past (then he also added Deku).

We can't see Enji's father's face but he's likely the man on the picture hung on the wall in the room with the Butsudan as in that room Enji would place the photo of his deceased family members.

Going on.

'"Doryoku (‘Endeavor’)” to nanoru hikutsu na shoune wo' 「“努力" （エンデヴァー）と名乗る卑屈な性根を」 “You called yourself ‘effort’ (read 'Endeavor’) due to your menial nature.”

This bit confirms Enji chose his Hero name while at U.A. and picked it up because (compared to All Might) he believed he lacked in skill but, probably, he thought he could compensate with effort/hard work.

From other chapters we know Enji and Recovery Girl know each other from his time at U.A.

‘OB no Yoshimi de kite ageta yo’ 「OBのよしみで来てあげたよ」 “I came for you since you were an alumnus”

'Soreni ima wa mō No.1 hīrōda mono ne' 「それに今はもうNo.1ヒーローだものね」 "Besides, you're also the No. 1 hero now.'

While in the Japanese version Recovery Girl is more vague, saying she came because Enji was an alumnus, since she's in U.A. by basically forever she likely got to know him, which is confirmed in "School Briefs I Epilogue" and "School Briefs III Dramatic Makeover!".

In "School Briefs I Epilogue" is said that with her Enji manages his manners because she's someone he had known nearly all his life.

By the way the two of them call each other by their Hero names.

"School Briefs III Dramatic Makeover!" is more specific. It has Recovery Girl tell Shōto she's been in U.A. by a long time and knew his father from when he was a student at U.A. and how she was always threating him for scrapes, cuts and bruises back in those days as his father used to put himself through the wringer hoping to become Number 1 one day, implying he was impressively driven. Shōto will make clear he doesn't want to hear about his father so she'll later be more subtle, telling him every boy and girl at U.A. tend to do their darnest and that they always had, implying Enji did the same.

We also have a bit of info in "Team-Up Missions: Mission 33" about how Enji holds the U.A. record for no-quirks trash pick-up (as All Might was too busy chatting with everyone).

'Sorezore ga hirotta gomi no sōryō o kiroku!' 「それぞれが拾ったゴミの総量を記録！」 "Record the total amount of trash each person picked up!"

'Tadashi "kosei" shiyō-fuka!' 「ただし”個性”使用不可！」 "However, "Quirk" cannot be used!"

'Onore no junsuina tairyoku nomi de shin kiroku o mezasu nōsuji ibentona nda!' 「己の純粋な体力のみで新記録を目指す脳筋イベントなんだ！」 "It's a brain-muscle event where you aim for a new record using only your own physical strength!"

'Chinamini rekidai No. 1 kiroku hoji-sha Endeavor da 「ちなみに歴代No.1記録保持者エンデヴァーだ」 "By the way, Endeavor is the all-time No. 1 record holder."

There's something else in chap 356 that's interesting in the following bit.

'Kojishite inakereba tamotenu teido no minikui kokoro wo' 「誇示していなければ保てぬ程度の醜い心を」 “Unless you're putting on airs you can't sustain your ugly heart”

'Minikui' (醜い) means "ugly" in the sense of "unsightly/unattractive". 'Kokoro' (心) is a delicious word that can refer to "(emotional) heart" but also to "mind" and "soul".

So basically Young Enji is saying that to hide the fact Enji is weak and indecisive, not a real superhuman, he put on airs to hide it... but the interesting part is that the image focuses on Enji's fire beard.

This was said in his profile.

The rest we have on Enji's youth is from other chapter and it's mostly tiny info.

We've a young Enji, who's now an adult but who still feels the gap between himself and All Might is one he can't surpass.

'Kisama (All Might)..." 「貴様 （オールマイト）…」 "All Might..."

'Kisama o koeyou to kensan o kasanete kita…!' 貴様を超えようと研鑽を重ねてきた…！ "I've been repeatedly training hard to surpass you…!"

'Kasaneru hodo ni tsūkan suru.' 重ねる程に痛感する。 "I realized the more I repeatedly did it, the more I feel the pain."

'Kisama to no sa ga… kisama no senaka ga…!!' 貴様との差が… 貴様の背中が…！！ "The difference between you and me is… your back…! !"

'Zetsubō ga! ! Ore o…' 絶望が！！俺を… "I despaired! ! I…"

'Nanda so nonnasakenai senaka wa!!' 「なんだそのっ情けない背中は！！」 “What’s with that pathetic back?!”

LOL, the sentence seems not to make sense but in Japan a large back is equated to strength. Hawks later, thinking about Endeavor will say Enji must do it because Hawks' back isn't large enough.

On another interesting bit... even if Enji says 'All Might' the kanji actually say 'kisama' (貴様) which is currently a very rude way to say 'you'.

We've another bit about Enji's past when he talks with All Might after the latter retired.

'Ore wa ase kō ni subete o takushita' 「俺は焦凍に全てを託した」 "I entrusted everything to Shoto"

'Hatachi no koro ni wa sudeni No. 2 e to noboritsumeta.' 「二十歳の頃には既にNo.2へと登りつめた」 "By the time I was 20 years old, I had already climbed to No. 2."

'Tō tte kitakara koso… rikai shite shimatta.' 「登ってきたからこそ…理解してしまった」 "Because I made that climb… I understands."

'Ore wa itadaki ni wa tadoritsukenai to' 「俺は頂きには辿り着けないと」 "I can't reach the top"

'katagaki ga hoshī dakenara kisama no yō ni herahera to' 「肩書きが欲しいだけなら貴様のようにヘラヘラと」 "If I just wanted a title, I'll be laughing like you."

'Aiso mo furimaitadarou sa.' 「愛想も振りまいただろうさ」 "I would have showed sociability as well."

'Ore wa dare yori tsuyoku naritakatta' 「俺は誰より強くなりたかった」 "I wanted to be stronger than anyone else"

Okay so this was meant to be solely about Enji's past but I can't skip this line. The English translation decided to translate 'takushita' (託した) with 'gave' but it's not like Enji gave Shouto everything Shouto wanted... it's that Enji entrusted his dream, his everything to Shouto. So he's not really depicting himself like a doting father but as a father who planned to have his kid fulfil his dream.

The relevant part in this little dialogue is that Enji became Number 2 at 20.

Considering he started U.A. at 15 and should have finished attending it at 19, it's quite a fast climbing.

The mountain is probably Sekoto Peak (瀬古杜岳 'Sekoto take'), where Enji said he used to train in the past and where Touya will 'die'. (Chap 291).

According to Hawks, Enji was the only one trying to surpass All Might.

Technically though, considering Hawks is one year younger than Touya and got interested in Endeavor after he was saved, he only witnessed him post marriage and it's hard to say if this applied also to when Enji was pretty young. Anyway the previous generation of Heroes come out pretty lame as now the kids at U.A. wants to surpass All Might while before only Enji considered doing it.

And so we get to Enji deciding he can't surpass All Might and therefore must produce a heir who will do so for him... but as that part was transposed in the anime, for a better comparison I'll put it in a part 2.

So I hyperfixated on the Octonauts a few days ago, leading to me coming up with a bunch of theories/headcanons. These have only persisted and my obsession with Octonauts has stayed strong so allow me to give y'all some Kwazii headcanons/theories along with my Kwazii designs(theres two versions).

Ok so Kwazii headcanons/theories! Note that these take into account stuff that happened in Ring of Fire, and that I haven't watched every single episode of both series(the original Octonauts and Octonauts: Above and Beyond) because my stupid siblings were bullying me for watching it >:( Anywho heres the headcanons/theories

Kwazii is trans because fuq you also like probably canon according to everything I see

Kwazii has some of Calico Jacks, his grandfather, features that no one else in his family really has. Those features are the eyes, nose marking, and left leg marking(this is based on the design above). The colors vary but everyone compares him to his granddad.

Kwazii has ADHD no I don't take criticism I have ADHD therefore he does as well.

Kwazii has abandonment issues and can be rather clingy when he isn't putting on a brave face

Besides Captain Barnacles, Tweak was the first member of the Octonauts that Kwazii befriended. They play video games every night and his gold tooth is a cap that Tweak made him. His fang is chipped underneath it

Speaking of which, Kwazii is a night owl. He's always up til like two in the morning, probably getting zoomies

I think Kwazii spent most of his childhood alone. The only family he ever mentions is his grandfather, and his grandfather left when he was a little kitten(as said in the Amazon Adventure episode)

Pan boy poly boy hes dating Shellington and Peso screw y'all

He loves to cook and bake, and he can be seen helping the Vegimals in the kitchen

No one knows why he's so good with kids, considering that as far as anyone knows he's an only child and didn't have other kids in his family(or at least, if he did he never mentioned them) but most children naturally flock to him and he gets real freaking attached to kids when he interacts with them(examples being the baby dolphin episode, Peso's little brother, the baby crocodile, theres probably more but these are the ones off the top of my head)

He looks up to Captain Barnacles alot and often can be seen mimicking his mannerisms

He loves the sea monster stories because they brought him alot of comfort as a child, and made him feel closer to his grandfather. He doesn't always believe them but he wishes they were true

Kwazii has very little concern for his own safety. He would gladly put his life on the line for, anyone really, and is shown to overcome his arachnophobia just so he could help a beetle that was actively being...hostile ig? just a few minutes prior. He doesn't care what happens to him, he only really worries about others

Hes lost some feeling in his tail and his tail healed with a bend in it

Kwazii has had many scars over the years but the one on his ear is interesting because he won't tell anyone how he got it, when he usually tells big extravagant stories for how he got his scars

He makes a habit of remembering everything thats said to him, making sure he can use it in the future(example being when Shellington talked about symbiotic relationships between the crab and the urchin i think? Maybe it was a sea sponge but whatever, and Kwazii brought up that fact in Above and Beyond)

I think he dwells over his mistakes alot. I also think he has nightmares of past incidents, recently being the events of Ring of Fire, and is a fairly light sleeper, so he wakes up to most sudden noises.

I think Kwazii is actually afraid of stuff sometimes(not for his safety reasons but like what it could be) and he pretends to be fearless to be like Captain Barnacles, who seems fearless to everyone around him.

Dashi helped him write a book featuring all the tales of his grandfather

He was always searching for stuff about his grandfather to feel closer to the man he only faintly remembers

I think he joined the Octonauts a bit younger than the others

Most of his possessions he found after joining the Octonauts, and his eyepatch was one of his only possessions he had before joining. Calico Jack gave it to him before joining

Kwazii can't tie a tie

Kwazii developed his arachnophobia as a young kitten, but after Calico Jack left. Its one of the only things he actively shows fearing because hes just that spooked by them.

Kwazii still can't surf

While he will admit to not being good at stuff, he feels the need to be good at everything

Kwazii sings sea shantys to the Vegimals

He has some shark friends who he actively races and they just hang out, usually when he should be sleeping

I think he has a slight fear of fire from what happened in Ring of Fire. And hes way too overly attached to the Gup-B, probably because its gotten him out of alot of life threatening situations(that he wasn't even aware were life threatening because he didn't really care)

Ok thats all if I keep thinking this post will be so long it will count as a novel. Once I draw the others I'll do headcanons and theories for them too! If y'all have suggestions/requests for who I should do next I'll gladly take those too! Also which design do you like better? I like the first one alot but I feel the second looks closer to the source material lol, also should've added eye bags but oh well-
