Was thinking about the Vargas sweets designs, and that one art style that's out there with the neon candy looking blood/'cute' horror stuff going on, and it became a WHOLE mental image, lol. went to see the aces yesterday which first of all they were amazing it was my first time going to a concert w lesbian music and it was very special to me (also the lead singer was so sexy btw js 😩) but ANYWAY. i asked my friend if she wanted to go w me & she had never listened to them before but she said she would and i sent her some of their music to listen to etc etc. so like we went to the concert it was great and afterwards she told me she thought it was boring and she didn’t like the music. which was kind of crazy to me bc it’s like indie pop/rock music and like as someone who does not enjoy the majority of indie music bc i find it boring their music is not boring 😭 so first of all i find that offensive. second of all she was like well if you find a concert from x artists then i would enjoy that and she listed like three artists to me one of which was taylor swift and i was like. yeah where am i gonna get taylor swift tickets lmfao. but the other artist she listed (i don’t remember the third one she said lol) i just looked up his music and i’m legit like 😭😭😭 first of all this man looks like he just finished hibernating for the winter and crawled out of the cave into the sun for the first time in months. second of all. that’s also what his music sounded like. my point being that going to this man’s concert while he strums a single guitar in a flannel shirt and jeans would be a million times more boring than watching women having fun on stage and singing abt lesbianism idk call me crazy………it’s like i would find it more understandable if it was at LEAST interesting music………

#like not to the point of ''ALL NEW GAMES BAD'' bc i actually loved violet a lot and am excited to get the dlc tomorrow #nor do i think its a better game than the later games. ill probably always have it a bit lower on my list #but after dealing with all the new gimmicks and the new rosters and how commercialized the series is now #and the fangames that have these super complex storylines and characters and so much puzzles going on #idk. its nice to go back to the series roots and see what it was before all of that #when it was just a passion project made by a small company that wasnt expected to catch on #so they sorta just did whatever they want and made a lot of clunky but fun decisions #and you can see the first incarnation of all of these designs #gen 1 sprites are so fascinating bc yeah its easy to poke fun at some of them but theyre also a glimpse behind the scenes #my oc spectra being based on the gen 1 haunter is genuinely bc i think it looks kickass and i miss that initial style for it #idk. its humble. its cute. its like a flash to familiar times #echoed voice #seriously i cannot emphasize enough how much of a massive mistake it was for me personally to base my view of this gen on yellow

I'm replaying (kinda I never actually finished) Pokemon Scarlet and I still think this is probably one of my least favorite generations of designs but there are a fair few new pokemon that I've been sleeping on TBH. Mabosstiff was a letdown to me the first time I saw it but I love it now idek what changed

i just think a "friended/romanced + saved + trust aj" violet does such a good job rounding out the plot and characters of S4 and i dont say that lightly

she walls people off out of fear just like S3 clem did and learned to grow out of through the compassion of others. feeling like she could have done more to save minnie being what initially makes her step up to lead, but her accepting her love for clem (and clem choosing to save her) is what leads to her Truly accepting the school and everyone inside it as her Home and gives her something to fight for ("i tried my damnedest not to care about either of you. and i still couldnt tell you why." "i know where youre coming from. after losing so many people, sometimes its easier to keep everyone at arms length." "and then you wonder why you fight so hard to stay alive. i dont wonder anymore."). this being the reasoning behind violets detachment from the school, as well as a negative home life impacting her idea of what a home even was. but together they turn ericson from a prison into the home theyve BOTH been looking for, renaming it together, and envisioning it for the future together. the two of them understand each other deeply, from what theyve lost to how its affected them and the poor ways theyve decided to react to it. but through their support of the other, they BOTH get to evolve into more relaxed and confident versions of themselves, who know Exactly what theyre fighting for

her troubled relationship with brody and getting to learn more about what happened with the twins/violets reaction to it and how she ultimately blames herself/brodys guilt about her part in it and how she misses violet. getting the chance to mend that relationship before its too late. the 3 of them becoming closer because of it. and getting to develop clems friendship with brody leads to a more impactful moment later in the basement

her relationship with tenn reflecting clems relationship with aj, in the way they both made the decision to look after their respective boys after their primary guardians died (ajs parents, tenns sisters). both of them can understand the responsibilities they have taken upon themselves, and how hard it can be to do right. the 4 of them become a tight knit group quickly. especially in EP2 as vi supports clem while tenn supports aj through the marlon fiasco

her confused relationship with minerva introducing interesting conflict both within her relationship with clem (who has her own personal conflict with minerva, which vi still ties into through her relationship with both minnie and tenn) and the over arching plot, which has themes of learning when to let someone go because they are no longer who they once were (clem and lilly "we were family once", mitch about ms martin "you get all caught up in who people used to be, and you cant deal with whats in front of you", violet about minnie "the real minnie? shes been gone this whole time and i have to stop mourning her")

having a saved violet on the boat expanding the conversation with minerva about her motivations with the delta. violet apologizing for never looking for her, minnie saying she knows she would have but that its too late now, so sure this is just the way things have to be. getting to hear minnie say "you can be rewarded, just like i am", giving us insight into her character. and clem getting the last word before she rams the door down, her and violet fighting minnie Together. and violet saves clems life, making the Choice to shoot minerva, which in and of itself is a huge moment for violets character in regards to her relationship with both minnie And clem

and aj shooting tenn on the bridge brings things full circle, by putting violet in the same position louis was in EP2, where aj has killed the most important person to her, in an effort to save her life, and now she must reckon with those feelings the same way louis had to about marlon. not so easy now is it violet? ("so youre mad, but sad" "can i be that for a while?" "yeah, its ok")

just... ough... violets whole character just fits into Everything so well, but in a way that elevates the characters and plots around her, while also developing her into her own

#plus tenn dying with minnie feels like looking at a clem and aj Bad End and that feels intentional #and vi being there fighting minnie for tenns life....the boy she took it upon herself to look out for.. and losing him 😭 #ALSO i feel like the whole point of S4 is raising aj into someone clem trusts. like did you do a good job raising him or not?? #like through the decisions i made i Did naturally trust him in that cave. but after seeing other routes i can def see why some didnt #but even if clem doesnt trust him in that cave he still proves later in the barn that he knows when to make his own call #its more about what clem has to lose/how long it takes for her to trust aj. he knows what hes doing now. clem says as much #none of this is me saying picking louis' route is BAD. im just pointing out the ways violets works on so many levels for me #esp since the season is already so short. all of this really helps to flesh out the plot and side characters in those 4 eps #but anyway this is why i cant stand violet slander especially when people say she was underdeveloped compared to other characters #i just think youre not paying attention to her #but what else is new for female characters #twdg #it speaks

Disclaimer: I personally have not finished TBC beyond the first book. I did finish AVOS and its back half is considered poor quality for a reason. If you aren't having fun now I can tell you right now you wouldnt enjoy the rest. At most I think (iirc) the last book is important bc it establishes Juniperclaw attacking SkyClan, and Shadowsight getting a vision to swim in the flooded lake to 'unite' the clans- both of which are relevant to TBC in some way. But even then you could probably skim to the rrlevant parts, IDK.

i'll be real when i made that post last night it was kind of out of sarcasm and pettiness, like i do think im still gonna read those last three books and skim the boring parts at the very least, but that's on me cause now when i look at the post it does come across as very whiny and serious so that's on me lmao. (and i was kinda whiny at the moment cause i always forget about how mean spirited these books are.)

buuuuut hearing what people are saying, it does make me feel a bit better for skimming the back half of avos cause i think thats what i'm gonna have to do for sanity's sake if i want to catch up. i do want to give quotes and takes that are really backed up by the books and not secondhand info so i will try to keep to it but i think if i'm gonna read about thunderclan being shitty to twigpaw then im gonna start skimming cause like, we all know they were shitty to twigpaw now, it was uncomfortable when she was a kid and its uncomfortable still now that she's an adult. you don't need to see that backed up once again.

I was chilling on a livestream where someone was making a bingo card for the scarlet and violet trailer and someone was constantly talking about how submas should be in gen 9 cause it would be sad and how Emmet should be the leader of the villain organization for the "sad motive" and I just left

Throughout the whole trailer I was just dreading any possible reference to submas and how the tag would mutate into something worse somehow.

On a lighter note Scarlet and Violet look interesting

So that's where that came from. That is not a very good take at all, and it doesn't make sense with the theme of the games. Pokemon also doesn't really do characters or organizations spanning across multiple Gens. Team Rocket is an exception and so is Looker, and there might be more that I'm forgetting. Mostly what we get are cameos in optional areas, or else they don't affect the plot much. Ingo's an odd case of being more than a cameo, and he seems like he would have a subplot about remembering and returning home but so far he doesn't. But we've never seen something like a character from one game turn up several Gens later as a villain, and something like that, or making games sadder is not the kind of stories the series likes to tell.

I can't even go into the tags anymore, and when I do, so much comes up as being blocked due to my filters. I'm tired of the angst and sadness and the demand for it. (And it seems like the ableism is becoming more of a problem? I'm seeing more people addressing it).

I feel like the Submas tags on here are in their own bubble, if that makes sense. I suspect the average Pokemon fan is not expecting or demanding a Submas appearance in Scarlet and Violet. I know people in the tags are jumping on the whole "past and future themes" but we don't know much about that right now at all, save for the box Legendaries seem to be themed towards that as well as the Professors' names and clothing. At times it feels like people forget that Submas wasn't essential to the plot of Gen 5, and PLA is not a Submas-centric game. Scarlet and Violet are new games, focusing on a new region with its own stories and characters. The story was likely done before PLA released. Putting Submas in can, and given the fans and fandom, would take the attention from everything else. If anything, the game devs may have learned from PLA that putting in Ingo and/or Emmet overshadows the other characters and main plot. Even people who didn’t know or like Submas before and didn’t jump on the fandom train are wondering how and why Ingo got to Hisui and why there’s been no closure for him.

There's also a very good chance that Ingo will turn up when they revisit 5th Gen with barely any or no references to PLA, like it never happened, and/or we'll find out later PLA takes place in its own universe, or something like the variants are canon but the story wasn't. Pokemon might not be into angst, grimdark, overall sad stories, etc, but it DOES work with different dimensions and alternate universes. The most reference to them I expect to see would be something like an ad for the Battle Subway or reference like the kids talking about it in Hulbury's train station in SwSh. It would be a nice thing to let us know he's OK, but any reference is more likely just to let us know we can expect to revisit Unova next.

I like the new Pokemon we’ve seen so far. I also find it interesting that the new rival looks a bit older than the player character. I’m not so keen on the box Legendaries yet, but I’m excited to see a true open world, explore at whatever pace I want, and I’m wondering if they’ll have Gyms, how that will factor into the open world, or if they’ll do something else. (Sorry for the long reply!)

As a character I love Geeta. Her design is beautiful. While we don’t get much in person interactions with her, there’s lots of context about her from people all around. And while normally I would feel a bit negative about that, it seems to work really good with Geeta.

ALSO, I don’t think she’s some big bad villain. I just feel like there’s more to her than we currently know and if so, I would LOVE to see it in the future.
