#the padalecki's have also embraced austin

Note
I know this has been discussed before, but it’s interesting enough to me to be worth repeating . . .
The recent photos of Jared and Gen posing with others at the stem cell treatment facility as well as the photo of Jared and Gen at the coffee house chatting with the two women, leads me to believe that 1) the Padaleckis are down-to-earth enough that they venture out-and-about into the masses to live their lives; 2) the Padaleckis are famous enough (at least in their hometown of Austin) that they are recognized by people that they don’t know personally; 3) the Padaleckis are welcoming enough in their demeanor that people feel comfortable approaching them; and 4) the Padaleckis are human enough that they will engage with the common folk and pose for photos. This tells me a lot about Jared and Gen and who they are as people.
I have watched SPN and been a non-participating (lurker) part of the fandom for years, including at SPN_Goss and Tumblr, so I have seen a lot. I am not on FB, Instagram or Twitter, and I don’t follow any of the cast. I only see what’s posted on fan sites on Tumblr (some of which are admittedly anti-Jensen), so someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think there are often similar sitings and interactions with the Ackles. This leads me to think that 1) the Ackles are not out-and-about as often; 2) the Ackles are not recognizable when/if they are out; 3) the Ackles are not as approachable if they are recognized; and 4) if the Ackles are approachable and engage, they may not consent to a photo or they may ask the person not to post the photo on social media. The only other reason I can come up with is that maybe people just don’t care, but I know that won’t go over well with the AAs.
This is just something that occurs to me every time I see a photo with Jared (and Gen) and a fan out in the wild. I love that he isn’t afraid to engage with people and I love that people always post about how kind and friendly he is. It does make me wonder about the comparisons between the two men though. Perhaps Jensen just isn’t as recognizable and famous as his super-fans think he is and perhaps Jared, with his more mainstream TV and film career, is.
I think there's a lot of truth in your observations. Thanks for sharing! To your question, I do follow some people who post Jensen and Jared fan interactions, and you're right that there are certainly more fan photos with Jared. Jensen content tends to come more from people he's worked with as opposed to fans out on the street.
There are definitely some interesting comparisons into how each couple handles recognition/fan interactions. Of course, I'm not going to say one way is better than the other as every celebrity should be allowed to interact within their comfort level. (And frankly, seeing how obsessed some of Jensen's fans are, I don't blame him for staying under the radar.) I do appreciate Jared and Gen's willingness to interact with fans and I hope someday I can meet them!
"Perhaps Jensen just isn’t as recognizable and famous as his super-fans think he is and perhaps Jared, with his more mainstream TV and film career, is."
It's unsurprising how many comments I saw on photos from Jared's USO tour that mentioned different shows Jared's been on, including Gilmore Girls, SPN, Walker, Friday the 13th and House of Wax. It helps that GG and SPN frequently make the weekly top 20 of streaming shows. Jared is very recognizable despite looking nothing like his teenage self from GG!
(Surprised no one mentioned New York Minute. LOL!)

Catching Up with Gen Padalecki
The run up to the holidays is packed with parties and festive events, gift buying, travel prepping and wrapping up all the loose ends of the year. Add to that running a business and a book club, acting, being a wife (to actor and entrepreneur Jared Padalecki) and mama of three (two boys and a girl), and things are busy for Genevieve Padalecki. We caught up with Gen, and talked about things from family and their new farm to two of her passions, books and towwn. Short for Take Only What You Need, towwn is a site she started with longtime friend Kelly Mickle to help people sustainably win the battle against burnout, both for themselves and the planet, with tips from eco-friendly kitchen swaps and sustainable sandals to self-care.
You’ve lived in Austin for more than 12 years, what advice would you give someone new to Austin?
Embrace the weird, always say ‘hi’ to your neighbor, don’t judge opinions and views that might differ from yours, rather try to understand where others are coming from.
What do you love about living in Austin?
I love the eclectic collaborative community. I've always felt like I could be completely myself here.
What are you most looking forward to this holiday season?
Family time.
How are you and your family celebrating the holidays this year?
We are doing things differently this year and giving our family an adventure.
What are some of your favorite holiday traditions?
I love all the decorating, crafting, and meal making. I find it therapeutic and I love when my kids propose the activity.
Do you have a recipe you love to make around the holidays?
We love cooking during the holidays and all the kiddos love to contribute. It can range from a great lasagna to a medium rare steak (cooked by our 10-year-old), to my husband's favorite, tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons.  The holidays are so fun and gathering with friends and family for a meal is the best part.
How long have you had your book club?
I started my book club when we went into lockdown.  I wanted a way to connect with people and have an outlet.  I reached out asking for a “this or that” book pick for the month and Southern Book Clubs’ Guide to Slaying Vampires was a fan favorite.  Next thing I know Grady Hendrix and I are zooming and chatting about his book.  It’s been a wild couple of years and I am so inspired and feel so incredibly grateful for all the insightful, thoughtful and thought-provoking, stunning and beautiful writers I have been able to meet, converse and collaborate with because of it.
What are some you’d recommend for gifting this year?
Pony, Red, White and Royal Blue, The Overstory, Tribe, Letters to a Young Athlete, Why We Sleep and Into Thin Air.
How do you consume books? Do you prefer real books, audiobooks, kindle?
I prefer old-fashioned books I can hold in my hand. There’s something so wonderful about the sensory experience, the weight, the pages in between my fingers, turning a page, the smell of the binding. It just adds to the experience and for me is a delectable rush.  I also love a good audiobook, especially with all the driving I do, but it all depends on the narrator.
What’s new with towwn?
towwn is growing so quickly and we’re incredibly proud of our community. We just launched our TikTok channel to help spread our anti-perfectionism message about the planet and ourselves to reach new audiences. We’re also building an informative and fun newsletter.
What do you hope to see in the evolution of TOWWN in 2023?
Our main focus is reaching people who want to find solutions to burnout for themselves and the planet, regardless of background and politics. We’re looking at hosting more events where we can bring people together for these kinds of conversations, curating products to help people solve these challenges. You can learn more on our Instagram @towwn.
You and Jared recently bought a farm…
Yes, we love nature and I’m obsessed with soil health and regenerative farming. I’m hoping we slowly let the land speak to us and thoughtfully nurture biodiversity and tend to the soil as best we can. I’d like to have rotational cover crops as well as grazing animals to contribute to this beautiful symbiotic relationship. It’s also nice having a refuge for our family to get messy and breathe in and get lost in the woods so to speak.
What accomplishment are you most proud of in 2022?
I'm most proud of my family.  They are what I am so grateful for.
You went back to ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’ this season in flashbacks, any desire or plans on the horizon to return to more acting?
Definitely, if it works for our family schedule.
You and Jared have been married 12 years, any advice on having a marriage with longevity?
Marriage is the best and most amazing adventure in the world. And like farming, there are some good seasons and not so great ones. Marriage takes a lot of love and nurturing. Throughout our lives we change and evolve into many different people. So, in a partnership, you’re both constantly growing and it’s impossible to always grow together, whether in parallel lines or intertwined at the same time. The best advice that’s been helpful for me is to take time and try and understand where your partner is coming from, and before reacting to anything that maybe feels a bit incendiary or frustrating, give it 24 hours.
What’s something one of your kids did lately that surprised you or made you laugh?
Well, I'm currently watching my 8-year-old try and tell me U2 is the best band of all time I had no idea he knew U2!  My oldest sang a song in mandarin at a school talent show and my youngest gave her best ‘Hocus Pocus’ rendition dancing on our kitchen table - all in the last 24 hours! I don't know why I'm surprised by their theater bug, but clearly it's shining through.
Quick Fire Questions
Favorite book of 2022: Four Treasures of the Sky by Austin’s own Jenny Tinghui Zhang was outstanding - and it was her debut novel

What If I Told You (9)
Characters: Jensen x Reader; Jared Padalecki; SPN Cast members at times.
Summary: You and Jensen have been the closest of friends for years after meeting on the set of SPN, but what will happen when you and Jensen have a kissing scene?
Warnings: Cursing; divorce; break up; angst-ish at times, but mostly fluff. For this chapter: Canon divergence from the show, spn-related sadness.
I consider this an AU, as Jensen is divorced from an unnamed ex in this fic. This is completely a work of fiction, and I wouldn’t want his reality to be any different, this is purely for entertainment.
A/n: Just a tiny bit more until the big one. Flashbacks are in italics.
Tumblr media
The darkened wood of the porch swing rasped slightly as you swung back and forth, but the only sound that rung in your ears was your own heartbeat. Jensen’s eyes glazed as they stared into yours, the words he’d just spoken hanging heavily in the air.
“I was begging myself not to leave you.”
He gave you a small smile, as if to say a million words with a single action that was only meant for you.
Leaning slightly into his side, the scent of his aftershave filling your senses, you reassured him, “Don’t worry, Jay. I promise, I’m not going anywhere.” You whispered.
His dimples appeared as he gave a genuine, gorgeous smile. “You know…” he began, gazing at the jade lawn and blossoming blooms of the small garden, “this is a pretty nice place.”
Taking in the scenery, you agreed. The home itself was picturesque. “Yeah. Something I’d like to have one day.”
Jensen gripped your hand tightly before Clint whistled for you gently, hoping to usher you into the waiting SUV to take you back to set. Jensen, Jared, and Misha had one more scene to film on location at the ‘borrowed’ house with the red front door and another down the road, but it was already nearing four o’clock in the afternoon and you were due back at the studio for make-up and wardrobe removal.
The two of you stood from the swing on the front porch and, to your surprise, Jensen walked you down the steps and sidewalk to your bodyguard’s vehicle.
Jensen quickly stepped in front of you to grip the handle, opening the back door and gesturing for you to slide in.
“Ever the gentleman.” You giggled, feeling a rush to your cheeks.
“Well, you know me… gotta keep it interesting.” He smirked.
You halted before stepping in through the open door and turned to face him. Jensen had caged you within the frame of the door and his body, resting his hands both on the door and the cool metal of the car’s frame, blocking you from the remainder of those on set. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust those he worked with, but he was a man that enjoyed his privacy, especially with those he was closest to.
You felt suddenly small in the confines of the space and under the watchful gaze of Jensen. He was the person you felt most comfortable around and knew you to the depths of your secrets, yet in this moment you felt as though all new ones were coming to the surface. You wrung your hands into knots behind your back as you swayed onto the balls of your feet, anxiously posing, “So, I guess I’ll see you at Rob’s thing tonight?”
“Yeah. Yeah—I’ll be there. I want to say ‘screw it’ and run off with you now and, uh… have that talk, but you know how it is. I’ve got to get back in there.” He said, seemingly nervous as well, but also collected and steady.
“No, yeah… I get that. No worries.” You sputtered, casting your eyes to your shoes for no reason at all, other than to avoid his.
“Hey.” He said, releasing the hand that was holding the door to tuck it beneath your chin, he index finger and thumb planting themselves to turn your face to him. “It’ll happen sweetheart. I promise. I’m anxious too, don't worry.”
You smiled in his embrace. He had an unexplainable gift of knowing precisely what you needed to hear. It was almost as if you were consistently thinking that you were going to wake up and it would all have been a dream; the kiss, the message, the emotions he had expressed, but he was doing everything to ensure you knew it wasn't.
“Okay. Promise?” you said with a smirk, extending your pinky finger.
He eyed your outstretched hand with a grin, releasing your chin to lock his smallest finger with yours. As he enclosed it around his own, he tugged it gently towards him, pulling you closer to lay a gentle, quick peck of a kiss to your lips that left a tingle in its wake. “Promise.”
He retreated to the sidewalk as you hopped onto the leather seat of Clint’s car and shut the door for you, waving as the car sped off down the street.
You cast your eyes out of the darkened glass of the window, eyeing the man who had shaken you to your core who was still standing on the gray sidewalk. He seemed even more beautiful in the late afternoon light that shown behind him, blooming in iridescence and arcs of color.
Secretly, Jensen was as nervous and apprehensive as you were, but he couldn’t deny any longer that this was what he wanted and now—now he was sure you felt the same. All of the trepidation from days past was slowly dwindling to new nerves; now he just wanted to make everything perfect. If he was honest with himself, this was no longer a question of whether, it was a question of how.
.....
Yesterday
“Hey man, glad you made it.” Jared said, not standing from his seat on his couch when Jensen let himself in through the front door of his apartment. Gen and the kids were with family in Austin in their new home, so Jared was by himself for the majority of this season.
“Yeah, thanks for the call.” Jensen said sarcastically.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Did I… interrupt something?” he enunciated.
“No.” Jensen replied immediately and a little too quickly. “No. Well—maybe? I don't know.”
That was enough to make Jared quickly stand. His long limbs carried him to where Jensen was pacing, fists shoved tightly into his leather jacket when his friend reached him. “Tell me what happened.”
“Well.” He began, “We kissed.”
“Yeah, and?” Jared probed.
Jensen looked at his friend with a slightly stunned expression, “I… I don't know, man. I don't think I’ve ever had a kiss like that. It was just supposed to be rehearsal kiss, but I couldn’t stop myself.”
Jared hid the smirk that was sneaking below the surface, an unmistakable glint in his friend’s eye—it wasn’t just a kiss. There was more to be told. “Okay, what else happened?”
Jensen paused, his eyes widening with realization as he replayed the rehearsed scene in his mind, “I said her name.” he all but sighed.
“Huh?” Jared asked, confused.
“In the scene… I said Y/n instead of Y/c/n… when I said, ‘I love you’. It was part of the script and I—I messed up. I let it slip.”
Jared could sense the battle raging in his friend’s mind, so he pushed further, “Okay, so what is it?”
Jensen raised a brow, curious as to where his friend’s mind was leading, “What do you mean?”
Using his height to boost himself, Jared perched against his kitchen counter, his long legs and torso making it easy to prop his hips against the marble and gestured towards his friend, “What’s holding you back? What’s making it so hard for you to admit that it wasn’t a slip up at all, but that you actually do feel that way for her? You said it was about your friendship—that you didn’t want to ruin it, but could it be something deeper than that? I get it if you’re scared, man. You don’t want to get hurt again or put yourself out there if it’s not given back. But answer me this…  Was there anything behind that kiss that makes you question it? In that moment, did you even question if she felt it too?”
Jensen let himself relive the feeling of holding you in his arms, the softness of your skin underneath his fingertips, and the fire that erupted in his chest the minute his lips touched yours.
Jared’s lip curled at the edges as he watched Jensen’s expression shift from shock and confusion to realization as he asked, “Do you really think she—”
“Yeah.” Jared interrupted, clasping his friend on the shoulder. “Yeah, I think she does. Now, the only question is: are you going to let your fear of ruining your ‘friendship’ ruin any chance with her, or are you gonna go for it? Because, if you want my advice—which you always do…” he said, giving a slight, boastful bow, “I think you should go for it. No more games, no more ‘what-ifs’… nothing. Just take the dive.”
Jensen felt his chest tighten with excitement at the thought. Giving his friend a nod and a smile, he left with a resolve and a dinner appointment with the executives of the studio fast approaching, one which he could only hope would pass quickly.
After reaching your voicemail later that night, he only contemplated stopping by your place about five hundred times before returning to his own apartment, sauntering in through the hallway littered with photos. He wasn’t always a nostalgic or ‘feely’ guy, but when it came to his friends and family, he liked to have a reminder of who was behind him through it all. He passed photos of his parents and siblings, of childhood friends who stood the test of time into adulthood, and of Jared and Misha.
Jensen took pause in front of one taken about a year ago, of the two of you on set in Impala. You were nestled under the crook of his arm, tucked into his side and holding him around his waist, but your face was beautifully lit up with laughter. Your eyes were closed, and a brilliant smile made your cheeks a rosy tint. He had just told you what was probably the lamest joke in history, but it tickled you to well into tears after the photo was snapped.
Trust. Laughter. Safety. Excitement. Love. Everything he’d ever want in a relationship—and it was right in front of him.
He couldn’t wait anymore, he had to jump in.
.....
Jared bounded down the front steps in his Sam Winchester attire and clapped Jensen on the shoulder, “Hey man. You gonna take my advice?”
A grin fell upon his lips as your car slipped from view, “Yeah… Yeah, I am.”

A/n 2: I received an anon ask when I was looking for fic ideas(see below) for a Jensen x actress!reader fic a while ago, but recently got hit with a spark of inspiration. This is based off of the song “What if I Said” by Anita Cochran and Steve Wariner and will be a short mini-series. Also there is a wife mentioned in some parts, but I purposefully left this person nameless as to not insinuate anything for Jensen’s real life.
Anonymous said: Hi! Just saw your post about looking for fic ideas. I’ve had this idea that I really like where reader is an actor on Supernatural and is friends with Jensen. They have a scene where they have to kiss or even just have to be right up in each other’s space and it makes them realize they like each other. It’s probably a common thing to write about, but I thought I’d ask anyway. Thanks!

It wasn’t that Danneel didn’t love living in Austin, in their new home, because she did, only the heat was killing her. It wasn’t that she hadn’t loved being pregnant, but after almost 9 months she was ready for this part to be over. She wanted to meet her daughter but more than anything she wanted to be able to move around like she used to, or maybe she just wanted to be able to see her feet again.
It wasn’t that she didn’t love her husband or that she wasn’t happy he was home on hiatus now, because she was. But when a boom sounded from the kitchen, followed by loud voices, pulling her from her much needed nap on the couch, she was ready to strangle him. Danneel wiggled around to get her feet onto the floor and swayed back and forth a few times before she gained enough traction to get back on her feet. She pressed a hand to her lower back as she stormed, or rather waddled towards the kitchen as fast as she could.
The sight that met her, made her drop her jaw. The kitchen was a complete mess. Food stains all over the counter, pots and pans scattered everywhere and she was pretty sure the cupboards had to be empty with the amount of stuff scattered around everywhere. In the midst of it all was her husband and his idiotic best friend, bickering about how long whatever they were cooking needed to be in the oven.
“Jensen Ross Ackles, what the hell did you do to my kitchen?!” Danneel’s voice sounded high pitched through the room causing Jensen and Jared both to spin around, sheer panic written all over their faces.
“We were…” Jensen started taking a step towards her, but Danneel stomped her foot on the ground, raising her hand and he instantly thought better of his movement. He froze on the spot, looking like a deer caught in the headlight as Danneel kept scolding them for the mess and Jared looked like he wanted to shrink and disappear through the air vents.
“Do you know how hard I have been working to have the house clean for when the baby gets here? And to have her room ready? You are home two days and now the kitchen is a mess. There are dirty socks everywhere and you can’t even keep quiet for me to take a nap even when I asked you to!” Danneel ranted, not noticing Jared muttering something about going home to check on Gen and the baby, before disappearing into the hallway.
“Dee, I’m gonna clean all this up. I…” Jensen started, but he didn’t get far before Danneel snapped back at him again.
“You damn well better! What the hell were you thinking Jensen?!” she hissed at him and Jensen’s eyes widened a little, before he yelled back at her.
“I was thinking my wife might have missed me and that I would cook her dinner while she was sleeping,” Jensen’s harsh tone and words hit her like a ton of bricks and Danneel fell back onto one of the chairs, hiding her face in her hands as she began sobbing.
“Fuck,” Jensen muttered, watching her in horror. He quickly moved through the room, kneeling down in front of her, rubbing his hands up and down her arms. “Honey, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to yell at you.”
Danneel didn’t look at him. She kept her face hiding in her hands as she blubbered between violent sobs, “You were trying to be nice, and I was a bitch to you.”
“Hey,” Jensen tugged her hands away from her face and pressed two fingers under her chin, forcing her to look at him. “Don’t call my wife a bitch,” he looked at her straight faced and serious, but a smile still played in his eyes and Danneel couldn’t help but laugh a little.
“It kinda does look like a hurricane went through here huh?” Jensen looked around the kitchen and Danneel sighed, making him smile. “Lesson learned. Never let Jared help out in our kitchen again,” he joked, causing her to smile some more and Jensen sent her a bright smile of his own. “There’s my beautiful smiling wife.”
She wrapped her arms around his neck and Jensen instantly returned her embrace. He frowned a little, pulling back to look at her.
“Baby you’re burning up,” he pushed a hand to her forehead, but she didn’t appear to have a fever.
“I’m not sick,” she whined with a pout, “it is a million degrees out and I am pregnant and miserable.”
“Well I can fix one of the three,” Jensen stood up, offering Danneel his hand, “come on,” he gently pulled her onto her feet, dragging her towards the stairs, while she looked back towards the mess that was their kitchen.
“But..”
“I’ll clean it later. I promise,” Jensen chuckled. “Dinner won’t be ready for another few hours.” Jensen tugged her towards their bedroom where he ordered her to strip, only to get a raised eyebrow from his wife.
“Wow you really don’t think highly of me today, huh?” he chuckled, “get out of your clothes and meet me in the bathroom, you suspicious woman,” Jensen pressed a kiss to her cheek, leaving her to it and heading into the bathroom himself.
Danneel watched him leave before letting out a small sigh. She wasn’t sure what he was up to but she might as well go along with it. Getting undressed took ages these days as well as getting dressed, but she finally managed to get out of all her clothes. She wrapped a towel from one of the drawers around her body before following her husband.
“Jay,” Danneel gasped when she entered the bathroom. He was sitting on the edge of the bathtub, fully dressed as he checked the water temperature of the bath he had he had drawn. Soft, white, inviting bubbles floated on top of the water. Silent, soft jazz tones sounded from the build in speakers of the room while scented candles made shadow puppets on the walls, filling the air with a calming whiff of lavender.
Tears started flowing down her cheeks again as Jensen looked up at her. The smile fell from his face and he was instantly on his feet, cupping her face in his hands.
“Hey. Don’t cry. What’s wrong?” his thumbs gently rubbed her cheekbones as he looked into her big brown eyes and Danneel smiled through her tears.
“I’m just… I’m happy,” she breathed out and Jensen couldn’t help but chuckle as he pulled her against his chest.
“That’s nothing to cry about, you dork,” he teased gently. “Stop scaring the crap out of me like that.”
Danneel giggled, clinging to him, letting him hug her as tightly against his chest as her swollen belly would allow these days.
“Here,” Jensen took a step back and offered her his hand, leading her through the room and towards the bath. She let her towel fall to the floor as she let him help her safely into the tub. When she was seated she looked up at him with an almost shy smile.
“Are you gonna join me?” she asked sheepishly and Jensen smiled.
“If you want me to. I just wanted you to relax,” Jensen answered honestly and Danneel felt a warmth rush through her chest. Being pregnant during a heatwave wasn’t easy, but at least she had the perfect husband.
“I want you to,” she answered, gently tugging at his shirt, making him smile and nod.
It didn’t take Jensen long to get undressed and slip in behind her. Danneel instantly leaned back against his chest, relaxing against him. Jensen’s arms went around her, his hands resting on her bump, rubbing soothing circles.
“I’m sorry about before,” Danneel muttered, resting her head against his shoulder, closing her eyes, “I really did miss you. A lot.”
Jensen dipped his head down, pressing a soft kiss to her neck, before grabbing the washcloth. “I know,” he whispered, before wetting it, gently letting the water run over his wife’s skin, causing her to sigh in contentment.
“I’m sorry too,” Jensen spoke softly as he continued his motions and Danneel opened her eyes to look up into her husband’s brilliant green ones, shining down at her.
“You do so much and I know I am in the way sometimes when I get home. I really just wanted to give you a relaxing night,” Jensen confessed.
Danneel smiled, reaching with her arm around his neck, running her fingers through his short hair and it was his turn to close his eyes and hum in contentment.
“You’re never in the way Jensen. Don’t ever think that. I love having you home. I’m just tired of being pregnant. That’s all,” she confessed and Jensen let out a small relieved sigh, as he reopened his eyes.
“You’re amazing. You know that right? If I had to do what you do,” Jensen motioned towards her swollen belly, “I’d be whining and complaining non stop.”
“Oh I know,” she laughed teasing him, before tugging his head down, meeting his lips with her own in a deep, loving kiss. “I love you Jay,” she whispered, when they broke apart and she went back to rest against his chest, closing her eyes, smiling happily with his words.
“I love you too DeeDee.”
A long distance marriage wasn’t the easiest, but their love was enough to get them through anything. She’d take Jensen and whatever time she could get with him, over any other man any day. She had never met anyone that made her feel so loved and adored as he did, even on the days when he was a million miles away. She never doubted his love and he never doubted hers. He was her best friend and the love of her life. She had no doubt he was going to be an amazing dad to the little girl, who was hopefully gonna announce her arrival soon, before her mom went completely crazy. No matter what, Danneel knew she had Jensen and he would be there for her always, no matter what the future held.

The Unexpected Perks of Being a Nanny~ Chapter Eighteen
Pairing: Jared x Reader
Word Count: 2.2k
Warnings: pregnancy
Beta: @my-squirrel-and-moose
The trip to Texas was halfway peaceful. There was the occasional cry from the baby behind you and the little kid who kicked Jared’s seat. You had only thrown up once, which you considered a win! You were nervous to meet Jared’s parents, you hadn’t even spoke to them over the phone since you and Jared had started dating.
“Don’t worry, Y/N, they’ll love you, I know they will.” Jared reassured you.
“Okay.” You nodded in response.
You were trembling as you walked up to the Padalecki’s front door. You were so nervous.
“Calm down, baby.” Jared whispered as he knocked on his parents door.
The Padalecki’s had a wonderful looking house, it was quaint and comfortable looking. Jared’s mom answered, glee in her eyes.
“Oh, Jared!” She exclaimed, pulling him into a hug.
“Hey mom.” He smiled, hugging her back tightly.
You smiled softly watching their embrace. You wished you could’ve had that with your mom.
As Jared pulled away, he glanced back at you. He stepped back from his mom and wrapped an arm around you.
“Mom, this is Y/N.” Jared introduced you. “Y/N, this is my mom, Sharon.”
“H-hi, Mrs. Padalecki.” You said shyly, reaching out to shake her hand.
“Oh, nonsense. Call me Sharon.” She grinned, pulling you from Jared’s hold to hug you.
Sharon wasn’t very tall. She was barely taller than you. The glasses that she wore framed her face and complimented  her smile. You pulled away and returned to your place next to Jared.
“You head inside, I’ll grab the bags.” Jared whispered, kissing the top of your head.
“I can help, Jare.”
“Nu-uh, you shouldn’t be lifting anything too heavy, go on inside, Y/N.”
You sighed and followed Sharon inside. You felt awkward just marching into your boyfriend’s parents house without him by your side, even if he was only at the car outside in their driveway.
“You have a wonderful home.” You commented shyly.
“Well, thank you, Y/N.” Sharon smiled back at you as she lead you through the living room into the kitchen. “Gerald, Jared’s outside, why don’t you help him with the bags?”
Jared’s dad sent a smile your way and nodded before heading outside to help Jared.
“Megan, this is Jared’s new girlfriend, Y/N.”
You waved over at Jared’s sister. You had only ever seen pictures of her, the ones that Jared showed you and the ones in the back of her books that you read to Thomas, Shepherd and Odette.
“Hi, Y/N!” She smiled.
“Hi, Megan.”
“My other son, Jeff, is at work until five.” Sharon added. “He’ll be over for dinner so you can meet him then!”
“Being a proper gentleman, I see.” Gerald teased his son, referencing him taking all the bags in.
“Well that’s the way you raised me, old man! Plus I wouldn’t want Y/N and the baby to get hurt…” Jared paused. “Oh god damnit.”
“Baby?” Gerald cocked his head to the side in confusion.
“Uh… surprise! You’re going to be a grandpa again.” Jared said nervously. “Don’t tell mom, Megan or Jeff yet, Okay? I’m not going to let it slip again.”
“Jared, another baby?” His father worried, grabbing one of the bags from the back of your rental car.
“Yeah, I know it’s really soon, dad, but accidents happen. Also known as, condoms break.” Jared sighed, throwing one of the bags onto his shoulder.
“Still, son, Odette is only nine months old-” Gerald started.
“But she’ll be on her way to two when the baby arrives, dad, I’ll be able to do it.”
“I think we need to have a serious sit-down-conversation.”
“I’m thirty-five, dad, I don’t need the talk Okay?” Jared grumbled, bringing the first lot of bags into the house.
Jared began to wonder if maybe coming down to Texas was worth all of the remarks from his parents.
“Are you sure you don’t want my help?” You chased Jared up the stairs.
“I’m sure, Y/N.” He grumbled and kept stomping up the stairs.
“Jare, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” He shrugged.
“It’s not nothing.” You sighed, chasing him into the room.
“Okay, so I accidentally told my dad that we’re pregnant.”
“We were going to do that at dinner!” You playfully smacked your boyfriend's shoulder.
You honestly didn’t think it was the worse thing that could happen, so you didn’t really understand why Jared was in such a grumpy mood.
“He started to lecture me about how Odette isn’t even a year old yet. And for sure in certain, they’re going to comment on how you’re only twenty-two, how wrong it is and they are most definitely going to talk about how we’ve only been dating for six months.”
“Hey! I’ll be twenty-three on my birthday!” You teased him a little.
“Yeah, and I’ll be thirty-six.” He groaned, scratching his forehead.
“Don’t let that get to you, baby.” You sighed, “that’s all I can tell you.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” Jared set the bags down and made his way back downstairs.
You grabbed one of your bags and put it up on the bed. You took your toothbrush and toothpaste out of the front pouch and headed to find a bathroom. You found a clever sized one on the second floor, it wasn’t near as big as the ones at Jared’s place, but you couldn’t complain… It was a working toilet after all. You plastered some toothpaste along the brush head and ran some icy cold water over it. All you could taste was the airplane food that Jared ordered you. Downstairs, Jared and his father brought the last of the bags in. Jared headed upstairs to look for you.
“Oh, Jeez, sorry. I was just brushing my teeth.” You laughed, following him back downstairs.
“I figured we’d stay with my parents for a few days, go see my brother, his wife and kids… do a little bit of sightseeing… then we can drive to Austin and stay with Jensen for the remainder of our trip.” Jared suggested.
“Wait, I thought we were in Austin…?”
Jared shook his head no and laughed, “this is San Antonio, I was born and raised here.”
“Oh.” You giggled. “Now I feel stupid.”
“Don’t feel stupid, it’s okay.” Jared pulled you into his arms and gave you a quick kiss.
You and Jared made your way back into the kitchen where Megan, Sharon and Gerald still were.
“All settled in?” Sharon asked.
“Yeah, I guess so.” Jared replied.
Dinner time came faster than you thought it would, you had spent the afternoon with Megan, away from all the drama and chaos in the kitchen, where Sharon was cooking a big meal. Jeff arrived just in time for supper. Gerald sat on the end of the table and you sat next to him. Jared sat next to you, which was also next to his mom at the opposite end of the table from his dad. Megan sat across from you and Jeff sat across from Jared. You picked at your meal, trying to keep what you had already ate down until Jared spoke up and spilled the beans… intentionally this time.
“So… Y/N and I are pregnant.” Jared said casually.
You stared at your plate and picked at your food as you heard forks dinging off plates and someone clearing their throat. You didn’t think that Jared’s parents were going to be happy. You felt all eyes on you as you put a small piece of potato in your mouth.
“So soon?” Sharon was the first one to speak. “You’ve only been dating since the middle of July, Jared… that's only six months.”
“Not to mention that Odette isn’t even ten months old.” Gerald added.
“And that Y/N is only twenty-two.” Sharon proceeded to cut her food up and popped a piece in her mouth. “Don’t you think this is a little rushed, Jared? It feels a little rushed. What does Genevieve think?”
“It doesn’t matter what Genevieve thinks.” Jared grumbled. “She is not my wife and this is not her baby.”
Megan and Jeff exchanged glances before looking back to either you or their plates.
“Can you show me to the washroom, Megan?” You asked timidly.
Jared’s sister nodded and pushed away from the table. You followed her into the hallway and to the washroom.
“You don’t look too good.” Megan commented.
You pushed into the washroom and dropped to your knees in front of the toilet, throwing up whatever you had in your stomach… which wasn’t very much. Megan was quick to react when she held your hair out of the way and rubbed your back.
“Sorry.” You groaned. “I haven’t been pregnant long but it’s already been the worst days of my life.”
“Oh, that’s terrible! And by the way… don’t mind mom and Dad. I’m really happy that I’m going to be an auntie again.”
You took a seat on the floor and wiped your mouth on a cloth that Megan handed you as Jared and Jeff emerged through the bathroom door. You had almost mistaken Jeff for Jared… the two were so similar! Between their hair, looks and their height, the two look like the same person at the first glance.
“I could tell by the way you were picking at your food that you were sick… how are you feeling now?” Jared brushed some hair back out of your face.
“Better that I got it up.” You sighed, leaning into his touch.
“My wife was really sick with our first too. It’s normal.” Jeff half smiled.
“Yeah… speaking of normal, we need to book a doctor’s appointment.” You looked to Jared.
“Oh yes, about that… Danneel recommended her doctor in Austin for our first appointment. She says that Dr. Kaine is great.”
You nodded yes in agreement.
“Sounds good. I suppose things aren’t going too well with your parents.” You glanced between Jared and Jeff. “Megan and I had a great time here in the washroom, throwing up.” You added sarcastically.
“Things with Mom and Dad aren’t going so good.” Jared grumbled.
“They’re lecturing Jared and the more they talk the more frustrated he gets.” Jeff teased his younger brother.
You giggled a little bit.
“You’re probably tired after all day, huh, Y/N? How about we go upstairs and lie down?”
“You need to finish your dinner first.” You warned.
“I’m not hungry anymore.” Jared scooped you up.
He directed his conversation to his siblings, “tell mom and Dad that Y/N and I are upstairs and that she's not feeling one hundred percent.”
You had fell asleep before you knew it and woke up the next day to the smell of breakfast cooking downstairs. The unfamiliar surroundings startled you for a few seconds, but you quickly adjusted. You assumed Jared was taking a shower. Surprisingly, Baby Padalecki was making you hungry. There wasn’t a doubt in your mind that you weren’t pregnant, but it was still early.
“Morning, sleepy head.” Jared smirked, walking into the room with a towel around his waist.
His wet skin glistened as the light hit off it from different directions.
“Have you ever had a clean shaven chest?” You smiled as he walked past.
“Why, you don’t like my chest with hair?” Jared asked jokingly.
“No, no. I like it a lot. I think it’s hot… Something about older men and chest hair that makes me want to pounce on them.” You teased him.
“You know I hate when you call me old.” He frowned.
“Oh, Jare, c’mon. I’m only teasing you! Lighten up. You’re not old by any means!” You giggled. “You’re just older than me.”
“If you keep calling me old I’m going to tickle the shit out of you, Y/N. I swear! I will!”
“Oh… You’re so scary, old man!” You giggled.
Jared made his way over to you, pulling the blankets of you. His fingers sneaked up your torso and ran underneath your armpits. You squirmed and giggled harder.
“Tha-that tickles, Jared!” You cried out, laughing harder than you ever had before.
“It’s supposed to!” He laughed with you.
You wrapped an arm around his neck and pulled yourself closer to him, your lips connecting. Jared let his arms drop from your armpits and wrapped them around your back. You gasped into the kiss and pulled away for a quick second. You started to kiss him again. When you had pulled away again, neither of you had noticed that Jared’s parents were at the doorway.
“I think I love you more and more each day, Y/N.” Jared smiled sincerely, planting another kiss on your soft lips.
“I love you too… old man.” You laughed, kissing him back.
“Breakfast is ready, you two.” Sharon knocked on the door softly and pushed it open, revealing a broad smile.
You bit your lip, mostly in shame. Jared’s parents probably just seen you and their son making out.
“Thanks mom, we’ll be down soon. Promise.” Jared said, surprisingly only slightly embarrassed for being caught without any clothes on and kissing in his parents presence.
After Jared put some clothes on, you held onto his hand tightly as he led you down over the stairs. It was just the four of you now and you were a little worried that Sharon and Gerald would think it was one-on-one time so that they could knock some sense into you.
“So, Jared… dad and I have been thinking.” Sharon started off.

Supernatural Series Finale: How to Wrap Up 15 Years of Story
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This Supernatural article contains MAJOR spoilers for the series finale. Obviously.
It’s hard to believe it, but Supernatural has come to an end. We had our theories about what might happen in the 15-season show’s ender, but Supernatural kept us guessing right until its final moments. “Carry On” is essentially a forty-minute epilogue to tie up loose ends after the definitive battle against God. It serves its purpose of bringing the series full circle to its humble beginnings: Sam gets his normal life. Dean goes out as a hunter. They reunite to keep riding that road together… in heaven. If you are having trouble (emotionally) processing everything that went down in the series’ final hour or you’re just not ready to let go of this show yet, here’s an explainer of everything that went down in the Winchesters’ final ride…
The Supernatural Series Finale Calls Back to the Beginning
Interestingly, the Supernatural ending episode plot centers around a normal hunt: a gang of kidnapping, masked vampires that Daddy Winchester had investigated years ago. There’s something poignant in being bested by a classic villain mentioned in Dad’s journal, something they often referenced in the early seasons. (Not to mention that Season 1’s Jenny is part of the group.) Things don’t play by the same rules though because Team Free Will were victorious against Chuck’s plans. There’s no more “get out of jail free” cards, no more divine intervention or “I’m Batman!” lucky pen throws. This is real, and for the first time in a long time, death is final. But it’s not the end.
There are so many references to the early days in this episode, including details like the zippo lighter Sam uses at the hunter funeral, to Harvelle’s Roadhouse making an appearance at the end. There’s a grudging lack of Ellen, Jo, and Ash, but that was a recurring issue with many guest characters who could have made a cameo.
Who Returns for the Supernatural Series Finale?
Many beloved characters were missing from this ending, from the aforementioned Harvelles to Mary and John Winchester to Castiel and Jack. This could be for a number of reasons. In interviews, showrunner Andrew Dabb explained that COVID lead to some changes in production. From these interviews we can ascertain that more people would have been involved with the finale, but in order to keep episodes tight and more COVID-restriction compliant, some of these other character appearances probably had to be sacrificed. In any case, it’s good that Bobby made the cut. He was more of an emotional attachment for fans, and had way more screentime than John while acting as the defacto father figure for years.
Dean Dies in the Supernatural Series Finale
No matter what, everyone can’t be happy with an ending to such a long running show. One major contentious point is Dean’s death. The main character is fatally stabbed during a fight with the aforementioned vampires, pushed against a wooden post and impaled by a metal rod. Before he goes, Dean says goodbye to his brother, saying: “Hey, I’m not leaving you. I’m gonna be with you. Right here. Every day. Every day you’re out there and living and you’re fighting—because you always keep fighting, you hear me? I’ll be there. Every step.”
But Dean’s story doesn’t end with death. We see him arrive in heaven, and reunited with Bobby. This heaven is a place where with “everyone happy, everyone together.” For Dean, it also includes Harvelle’s Roadhouse and Baby. Dean’s parents and Rufus live nearby and, as Bobby tells Dean: “It ain’t just heaven, Dean. It’s the heaven you deserve.”
Driver Picks the Music
One of the most famous music riffs in the series is what I’ve always dubbed the “sad Supernatural theme” which is really called “Americana.” The theme is usually played slow, in piano, underpinning the most heart wrenching scenes at the biggest moment of loss. Obviously it’s used to its tear-jerking potential over Dean’s final words to Sam, but the theme resurfaces, changing its meaning. For Sam and Dean’s final embrace of the episode on that bridge, “Americana” is played via electric guitar, in a more upbeat, uplifting tone. The theme has become triumphant, and indicative of a job well done for these weary hunters.
One can’t talk Supernatural music without rejoicing in the liberal use of Kansas’ “Carry On Wayward Son” for the ending scenes. This song has always resonated strongly with fans, from its initial use in the season one finale Salvation to its subsequent appearance in every season finale since. Not only does the musical group share the name of the state the boys hail from, the lyrics in this progressive rock masterwork always seemed to perfectly line up with the story Supernatural was telling.
The lyrics “On a stormy sea of moving emotion/Tossed about, I’m like a ship on the ocean/I set a course for winds of fortune” easily translates to the boys’ eternal fight against their supposed destiny. The line “Surely Heaven waits for you” is a promise fulfilled.
From their biggest tragedies to the hopeful optimism that would finally be peace when they were done, this song meant more than a tune you could tap a toe to. It was the musical embodiment of the heart of this show.
Metallicar
You couldn’t have Supernatural without the other main character since the pilot — Baby the Impala. Both Sam and Dean have plenty of scenes with the car when they are separated by Death, but a fun nod to the fans is in the details.
In Heaven, Dean drives the original version of the Impala, with the Kansas KAZ 2Y5 plate. Sam drives the Impala with the new Ohio license plate CNK80Q3. The plate had changed in the show after the Winchesters were arrested in Folsom Prison Blues at the end of Season Two. What had been a way for the boys to evade the law became a neat bit of trivia the fans have stored away all this time.
“This is Dean’s Other Other Phone”
Dean tells Sam to “Always Keep Fighting” which rings so true because it’s the name of Jared Padalecki’s real life charity T-shirt campaign, the proceeds of which went to programs dedicated to mental health, including To Write Love on Her Arms and The Wounded Warrior Project. In a way, Dean is also telling the fans to keep fighting, to not despair at the end.
Sam is obviously in a funk after all this takes place, going through the motions in a haze, tearfully petting Miracle while feeling the emptiness of the bunker. It’s when Dean’s phone — his other other phone — rings that he’s put back on his path to keep fighting. A werewolf attack in Austin, Texas — notably the city that Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles both live in real life.
The “other other” phone has only really been on the show as a voicemail recording Sam gets when all other contact options have been exhausted, and Dean must be in trouble. The fact that we finally see the phone in this episode, and it’s Sam that answers? It’s showing that Sam is the one to carry on.
Sam Has a Family
You can be a “Sam girl” or a “Dean girl” (or guy) but there’s a reason Sam was the surviving brother. Sam had to “carry on” because he was the one who could. When Dean went to Hell all those years ago, or even in the episode when the Trickster had him die over and over, finally leaving Sam to wander on his own for some time, Sam’s had a lot of experience being the one left behind. He learned to carry on from these experiences, as hard as it must be. Sam completes his own character arc, effectively picking back up where he left off and having a family with some out-of-focus-in-the-background wife.
Sam Joins Dean in Heaven
Years later, after living a long life, Sam dies and joins his brother in heaven. Here, the end mirrors the beginning. In the pilot, Dean picks Sam up from school in order to find Dad, thereby starting their 15-year journey. In Heaven, Sam ends up joining Dean again and they both happen to be wearing the same clothes as in the pilot: Sam, a tan jacket over blue t-shirt and Dean, a dark jacket over a red plaid shirt.
They reunite on a bridge. One of the most pivotal moments of the pilot episode was when they saw the Woman in White on the bridge. This time, it’s a brightly lit sunny day, but a bridge between the pilot and finale seems oh so perfect.
Heaven was self-contained before Jack “made things right.” Simply a rehash of your greatest memories playing over and over, yet so singularly lonely since everyone had their own version of Heaven. As Sam joins his brother, you get the sense that they’ve done their work and things are truly, finally, at peace.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Was the Supernatural Series Finale Good?
It ain’t easy wrapping up a popular series after fifteen years. Not everyone will be happy, but the finale did find a way to pay homage to the beginning while bringing it all to a bittersweet end. In a sigh of relief, the show exemplifies that there really is peace to strive for after all. No matter the end, fans have fifteen years of show to look back on, meta episodes to laugh at, monsters to creep you out, and enough chick flick moments to make Dean blush. There’s a lot to love there, and at the core of it all is family. And family don’t end with blood.

The Road Trip
Pairing: Jensen x reader; some Jared flirting
Summary: Road tripping is something everyone wants to do. When you finally get the chance to do it, you end up meeting two very special men in the state of Texas.
Word Count: 3.7k
Warnings: fluff?, sadness, adorableness, some kissing
A/N: Okay, I kid you not, this was a dream of mine I had several months ago and I had it written out since then. I was unsure if I should post it, but I always have dreams of Jensen/Jared or of Dean/Sam so I decided I wanted to share it with you all! I also have zero hate for Gen and Danneel and the boys sisters. I just had to portray them differently to fit the story together. SIDE NOTE: this is part one of the mini-series. Part two will be up soon.
Road tripping was always a thing you wanted to do. Fortunately for you, once you finished college and had a useless associates degree, you decided to go road tripping to every state in the U.S. of A.
You first started in Southern California and decided you would move East, going towards Arizona, New Mexico and so on.
It was mid-July when you reached Texas, the third state you'd been to within the few days that you'd been tripping.
It wasn't a very smart idea to go in the summer, but you thought it was pretty smart at the time of planning your trip. You had just graduated college in June and you had nothing else to do with your life. Getting a college degree definitely was not a promise in finding a job in the real world.
You were in Austin, Texas, although you didn't know because you had no idea how to use an actual paper map. Your phone worked perfectly, but with the 102° weather at ten o'clock in the morning, your phone overheated and failed to work unless you put it in a cool place.
But you wanted to sight see, so stopping at a cool place wasn't on the to-do list.
You stood on the sidewalk, in a busy city apparently, people walking by and many people accidently pushing and bumping shoulders with you just to get to their destination. Car horns sounded from all around you, some louder than others.
You continued looking at the map, turning it all sorts of ways to see where you actually were. You looked up, noticing the street you were standing on was the same street on the map that you were looking at. You looked back down at the map and tried to ignore the loud car horns to focus on the map, but one specific horn just became louder and louder.
You looked up to see what the commotion was, and seen a bus driving a little too fast over the speed limit down the busy street. You looked down the street and noticed a little girl standing smack in the middle, bending over to pick up her little doll off the ground.
No one noticed but you, and you quickly wondered where her parents were.
"Hey!" You yelled to get someone's attention. You began running down the sidewalk towards the little girl yelling, but everyone just stared at you as if you were crazy.
"Little girl!"
The girl didn't look up, instead she turned her back towards the oncoming bus and smiled at her little doll.
The bus was getting closer to her and you tried to run faster. You were able to make eye contact with the bus driver, and the driver frantically pushed on the horn, honking to get pedestrians out of the way.
You ran as fast as your legs could take you and as fast as the hot air would let you. Your heart was beating out of your chest as you tried catching up to the little girl.
You finally reached her, quickly grabbing her and barely missing the bus. You tumbled to the ground as the little girl made a slight oomph sound. Your knees were scraped but the girl was clean of cuts.
You breathed a breath of relief, your heart finally coming down from the crazy high it just had.
"Oh my God, what happened?"
A deep and very raspy voice sounded from above you. You raised your hand to keep the sun away from your eyes, and a man, maybe in his mid-thirties, looked at the girl on the ground.
He grabbed his little girl from the ground, and she began to whimper in pain from hitting the floor.
"I'm so sorry, the bus was coming fast and she was standing right in the middle of the road."
You clambered to your feet, slightly wobbling from the adrenaline rush and got a good look at the man.
You knew him, although he didn't know you. He was Jensen Ackles and you couldn't quite believe it.
"Hey, what happened man?" None other than Jared Padalecki came running to Jensen, worry drenched on his face.
"She," Jensen began to say, but his words came out rather choked. "She saved JJ."
Jared raised his brows in surprise and pat Jensen on the back for comfort.
"I'm sorry. I know I probably hurt her. I tried not to land on her but I did fall pretty hard," you rubbed at your elbows and noticed blood coming from both arms as well.
"Please don't apologize. It was my fault for not watching her. I turned my back one second, and the next she was under you. So thank you."
Jensen smiled at you and you smiled back at him. Jared had a huge goofy grin on his face as you stood there.
"JJ, is it true she pushed you out from in front of the bus?" Jensen asked his daughter.
She nodded her head. She was no longer crying and she lifted her head from her dad's shoulder and smiled happily at you.
You smiled back at her and rubbed her leg. "I'm glad you're okay JJ."
"I'm Jensen by the way."
Jensen reached his hand out for a shake, as did you.
"And I'm Jared," Jared quickly shot his hand out to greet yours, and you smiled as you both shook each other's hand.
"I know. I watch Supernatural. I'm Y/N. It's nice to actually meet you both."
Jensen and Jared looked at each other and gave one another a look. You couldn't tell if it was a good look or bad.
They began to talk between themselves as you waited patiently and awkwardly for them to finish their secret conversation.
In your surprise, you were actually shocked with how calm you were being. Meeting Jensen and Jared was something you had always wanted but knew you would never get because they were either always in Canada or you were just busy with school. You honestly had no idea that you would meet them both while road tripping around the states.
"Will you be available tonight?" Jared asked, suddenly taking you out of your daydream.
You nodded your head all the while making an unsure face.
"Is that a yes?" Jensen asked seriously.
You shrugged your shoulders. "Honestly, I'm road tripping right now and I don't live here or have a place to stay."
"No worries. Do you care if we give you a place to stay?" Jared asked.
"You sure? I mean I don't want to be a burden."
Jensen laughed and placed JJ back on the floor, making sure to hold her hand. "Won't be a problem for us. Unless, you don't want to come."
"Oh no, of course I want to come! I just don't like being a burden to anyone, especially to you two."
"Well you saved my daughter, and since you're a fan of Supernatural and us, I wanted to invite you to a cast party at my house."
You smiled at them both. "Count me in then."
Jared and Jensen both gave you some money to stay at a more than decent hotel near Jensen's house. They didn't want you driving too far, so you were, at most, five minutes away.
You showered in hot water, which was something you hadn't done since you began the trip. You covered yourself in the soft hotel robe as you did your makeup and did your hair. It was still killer hot outside, so you kept your makeup to a minimum and made sure to pick all of your hair up.
The closer you got to being ready, the faster your heart began to beat and the more butterflies that began to fill your stomach. Maybe because it was the heat of the moment, no pun intended, that made you calm around Jensen and Jared. You remembered that you would always tell yourself that you would be calm and collected if you happened to ever meet them.
Eight o'clock was approaching and that was the time you planned on leaving the hotel. You put on a pair of shorts, a tank top and put on a cardigan with a half sleeve and slipped on your Converse. You left the hotel and hopped in your car, and like you assumed, you were at Jensen's house in five minutes.
His house was huge. You didn't know if you should park on the street and walk up to his house, or park in his driveway like the other cars did.
You decided the former, since it is a cast party and you're not part of the cast.
You walked up to his door and could hear voices laughing and talking, none of which sounded familiar.
You knocked on the door and waited. A few seconds passed by and no one answered the door. You knocked again, not wanting to be rude. Eventually, you tried the doorbell and a woman that you knew opened the door.
She was more beautiful in person. You hardly knew anything about Jensen's love life, but his wife sure was a beautiful woman, you almost felt jealous.
"Hey! Um, are you on the list?" She asked, lifting one eyebrow up as she eyed you up and down.
You shrugged your shoulders. "I honestly don't know. I didn't know there was going to be a list. Jensen invited me."
She chewed on her lip and then smiled widely. "Oh well, come in."
She moved out of the doorway and allowed you to walk in. People that you noticed and people you'd never seen before filled the large house. Everything in the house was white except for the stair hand rails that were covered in black.
You walked farther in, receiving smiles from random people and even from cast members.
"This way. Jay is over here," she walked in front of you and you followed her through the crowd of people. You finally reached what looked like a game room, and seen Jensen and Jared talking to a few other females.
Jared was the first to see you and he smiled, making his eyes wrinkle the corners.
"You made it!" He said, coming up to you and grabbing you into a hug.
"Sure did!" You smiled as you looked towards Jensen, who was coming up to you and embracing you in a hug.
"You guys, this is Y/N. She saved JJ this morning from a bus," Jensen announced to the other females.
"Y/N, this is my sister Mackenzie, this is Gen, this is my wife Danneel, and that is Jared's sister, Megan."
"Oh wow, nice to meet you all, especially you, Gen."
You shook every one of their hands, Gen specifically smiling larger for you.
"You girls get to know each other and get comfortable," Jensen said and then walked away.
"So, how did you meet Jensen?" Mackenzie asked you.
"Well I met him this morning but I knew who he was because I watch Supernatural," you said, feeling slightly inferior to them.
Danneel laughed. "You only met him this morning?"
"Well, yeah. I've never met him before. I just graduated college and decided to go road tripping around the states, starting with the eastern states first and making my way up and around to the middle. Texas is barely the third state that I've been to so far."
"What did you graduate with?" Megan asked menacingly.
"With an A.A. in science," you said simply.
All the girls laughed, even Gen, making you feel stupid for talking to them.
"So you're basically broke right now. I doubt you can do anything successful with that crappy degree. Acting is where the real money is," Gen stated.
All four girls laughed again, making you feel hurt. You felt embarrassed and humiliated for telling them. Of course you didn't finish telling them that you took an EMT program, certifying you as an EMT, but you knew they would have just laughed more.
You walked away, their laughs cemented into your head. You found a door that led to the backyard and went out there. Several familiar cast members were out there, but you no longer felt excited for being there.
"Is something the matter, dear?" The familiar face and voice of Ruth Connell approached you.
You shook your head, sure that you weren't convincing at all.
"You sure? I'm a good listener," she said as she took a seat next to you on the lounge chairs.
"I didn't know that I was going to come here and be criticized for my education," you simply stated to her.
"Oh no, who's criticizing you here?" Ruth's expression was hurt, and it seemed like she did actually care to hear about your problems.
"Jensen's wife and sister, and Jared's wife and sister. They put me down when they asked what degree I graduated with. It's not my fault that I didn't have enough money for acting classes. There's a reason why community colleges exist."
Your eyes began to water, but Ruth didn't know that. She placed a soft hand on your back, trying to comfort you without making you feel uncomfortable.
"Forget them. They have always been like that when a new female was added to the crew. If one of the guys brought over a female friend, they would tear her apart if she wasn't an actress. They only like the girls if they are in the acting business like we all are. Honestly, I have no problem with you being in a community college."
Ruth gave a heartwarming smile to you, making you feel better.
"Well, I originally wanted to act. But I seen how much money acting classes were and how much money it was to hire an agent. When I was in my teen years, a company actually called me back but I had no transportation and my parents said that ride would be too far. So I turned my career desire a full 360° and decided to just try to save lives for a change."
"Well whether you're an actress or part of the medical field, I'm sure you'll do a fine job."
"Thank you," you said and smiled at her.
"I'm Ruth by the way."
"I know. I'm Y/N. I really appreciate the comfort. And thanks for letting me know how those girls really are."
"No problem. Us females always have to watch out for each other, don't you think?"
You nodded your head in agreement. You checked the time on your phone and noticed it was getting late and you still hadn't gone sight seeing.
"Ruth?" You got her attention and she turned her head.
"Hm?"
"Thank you for the talk. I really wish I could meet you all again sometime, but I have to head back to my hotel and get some rest."
You got up from your chair and began to walk away, until Ruth grabbed you by the arm.
"Well here. This is my number, and if you ever need someone to talk to or just need someone to listen, I'm only a phone call away."
You grabbed the little piece of paper from her small hand and looked up at her in happiness. You embraced her little body in a hug, feeling more comfort in her hug than anyone's ever before, and then let her go to walk away.
You walked back into the house, quickly avoiding the four females from earlier, and walked straight up to the front door.
"Leaving so soon without saying goodbye?" Jensen said, stopping you in your tracks.
You turned to face him, and he looked slightly sad, but you weren't sure.
"I'm sorry Jensen," you walked up to him and hugged him a little longer than you did Ruth.
"Is there a reason why you were leaving without saying bye?" He pulled away from the hug, placing his hands on your shoulders.
"I-I was, they were," you were going to tell him, but Danneel cut you off.
"She said she was late for her desperate party," Danneel laughed, but no one else did.
"Why are you acting like this? This is the reason why I'm signing those papers," Jensen said quietly to Danneel.
Daneel rolled her eyes and strolled away.
"Was that why you were leaving?" Jensen turned back toward you.
You nodded your head slowly, embarrassed that he would think you were a wimp for letting Danneel get to you.
"Ignore her. She's always acting like this. Come, let's get a drink."
Jensen held your hand and pulled you into the kitchen. Gen was hugging Jared when you walked in, her eyes going straight to your interlocked fingers.
"Aw," Jared said loud enough for everyone to look at you two. Embarrassed once again, you pulled your hand away from Jensen, receiving a look from him.
"It's okay. Relax," he whispered into your ear. "Take a deep breath."
You took a deep breath like he said, which did help relieve the stress of being there with judgemental females.
"What would you like to drink?" He asked as he noticed you finally relaxed.
"Surprise me," you smiled at him. He replied with a smile and turned towards the alcohol to make you a drink.
From the side of your eye, you seen Gen pull away from Jared, all the while eyeing you, until she walked out of the kitchen. You knew she was going to go tell Danneel that Jensen held your hand.
"I call this 'Duck Shit Inn'," he said, handing you a drink with multiple colors.
He had the same drink and rose his drink in a toast. You copied his actions, and you both clanked glass cups before drinking.
The drink actually wasn't half bad. "What's in this? It's really good," you told him.
"I put my secret ingredient in it," he said laughing.
You laughed back. "Okay what was it? Tequila?"
Jensen dramatically gasped, and put his hand on his chest as if he were in pain. "Who told you the secret?"
You rolled your eyes and swat his arm playfully. "You're so dumb."
The both of you continued to drink until Jared decided to ruin the fun and put all the liquor away.
"I think that's enough for the both of you," he said as he placed the last bottle in the highest cabinet in the kitchen.
"I'm not even drunk," you lied. Okay, it wasn't a full lie. You were buzzed, but not drunk.
"Yeah, what she said," Jensen put an arm around your shoulders and slumped on you.
"No, I think you are actually drunk," you laughed at Jensen who looked completely trashed.
"Yeah, what she said," Jared laughed as he copied Jensen's words.
Most people had left already, but there were still a hand full of people hanging out, not to mention the women you thought would be lovely people.
"Help me get him to his room, please?" Jared desperately asked you.
You nodded your head and Jared walked to the other side of Jensen, swinging his arm over his shoulder.
The both of you walked up the long staircase in the large home. You followed Jared as he pulled Jensen to the right, where a long hallway was ahead of you three.
"This way," Jared pulled Jensen through one of the doors, as you began to struggle to hold Jensen up.
His room was completely white, just like the rest of his house. He had white walls, white bed sheets, white furniture. He has kids, so you were quite surprised with how clean everything was. You didn't even have kids and your black furniture back home was stained somehow.
You and Jared finally reached Jensen's bed, and you released him, without any control, from your shoulders.
Jensen flopped hard on the bed, causing Jared to burst out in laughter. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't be laughing but that was hilarious."
His contagious laugh began to make you laugh, and suddenly it became hard to stop.
You were red in the face and tears were coming from Jared's face. Just remembering the way Jensen fell onto the bed kept Jared from stopping his laughter.
A door quickly and loudly opened, revealing Gen, her face mad with anger.
"What are you two doing!?" She yelled, practically waking Jensen from his alcoholic coma.
"Chill, we were laughing," Jared said, his laughter coming to a halt.
Gen rolled her eyes and walked away, stomping as she left the room.
"What's your wife's problem?" You asked.
"Wife?" He scoffs. "She is not my wife. Barely even my girlfriend. She's cool sometimes, but definitely a nut case."
Jared began turning Jensen's body around vertically.
"Do you guys always pick the crazy ones?" You asked as you began to take off Jensen's shoes.
Jared raised his eyebrows. "Huh, yeah. We try to avoid it, but it just happens. We're dating actresses, and they sure can act through a relationship."
"Must be tough," you said as you take the last shoe off of the drunken man.
You see Jared trying to stick Jensen underneath his blankets, so you walked to the other side and helped him with ease.
"I can tell he likes you," Jared stated unexpectedly.
He stared at his friend deeply, as if he was his brother.
"Yeah, I like him too. I like both of you," you said smiling at drunk Jensen asleep on the bed.
"No," he said, "I mean he likes you."
You furrowed your eyebrows and looked at Jared in confusion. "Why do you say that?"
"Well you did save his daughter. You're not crazy, you're a sweet person, not to mention, you're pretty hot."
Blush crept up to your cheeks, making you more red than ever. "Ha, thanks," you said awkwardly.
"And that," he said pointing to your red face, "would make Jensen melt right on the spot. He has a thing for girls who blush at compliments."
The both of you stood there, in a comfortable silence. You finally spoke up, the long silence making your voice sound louder than usual.
"It's getting late now, and I should go."
You began walking out before Jared called out to you.
"Will we see you tomorrow?" He asked giving you the famous Sam Winchester puppy dog eyes.
You simply shrugged your shoulders. "I don't know," you said, and you walked out of the room and out of the house.

Jared Padalecki Reinvents a Lone Star State Icon
Jared Padalecki has been playing the good guy since he was a teen, beginning with his portrayal of flop-haired, square-jawed Dean—every mom’s vision of the perfect boyfriend on the beloved dramedy Gilmore Girls—and continuing to demon hunter and reluctant hero Sam Winchester on Supernatural, the longest-running fantasy series in American television. Now, the thirty-eight-year-old father of three is taking on the titular lead in Walker, a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger. The role is close to his heart—the series, filmed in part in his current hometown of Austin, tells the story of the state he adores. “This Walker, he toes the line a little more than Chuck [Norris]’s Walker did,” says Padalecki of his embrace of another upright-gentleman role, adding, “Those are the characters I’m drawn to. Men who are flawed but trying to do the best they can.” Men, in no small way, like himself.
You were born in San Antonio.
My parents still live in the house I grew up in. I loved my childhood. I’d bike, skateboard, play basketball, skin my knees, and jump fences. I was outside all the time. You’d play for an hour and then go drink some water out of the nearest spigot on the side of the house and go back to playing. We lived by a train track, so we’d go out there and try to set up a penny and let it get smushed or throw rocks at passing cars, which probably wasn’t intelligent, but there wasn’t a whole lot to do. My mother and father came from pretty simple upbringings, and they built a life and had some kids and now my brother is a surgeon, my sister is an architect, and I wear makeup for a living. [Laughs.]
What was the worst rule to break in your family?
If you were rude or misbehaved, you were going to be in trouble. My parents, understandably in my opinion, would punish us for that. My parents were at our plays and basketball games. They were very supportive. But they also refused to do everything for us. My household had a lot of discipline. What we call “Texas values.”
Such as?
Treating people right, being kind. In Texas, possibly because of that heat, we do things at our own pace. It’s not New York, where it’s bang, bang, bang, get this done, get that done. When I did Gilmore Girls, I was working in L.A. It’s beautiful and full of promise, but you’ll see somebody and you’re like, “Hey, how you doin’?” And they’re like, “Good.” And they move on. In Texas, you’re crossing the street and you’re like, “Hey, how you doin’?” You’ve nev- er met this person and they go, “Well, as a matter of fact…” You end up having a conversation. I’m not saying everything Texas has been in its past—and even is currently—is perfect by any means. But the good I got from Texas I hope to instill in my children and keep with me for the rest of my life.
You moved back to your home state ten years ago.
Yeah. My wife [actress Genevieve Cortese Padalecki] and I settled in Austin. Other places certainly have a lot to offer. But they were never home for me. Here you know your neighbors. They drag our garbage cans back up to our house if they notice. We pick up their packages. There are always two kids from the neighborhood in my living room playing with my kids. “Hey Mr. Jared!” It feels like a family.
Do you see Texas as its own thing, Southern-wise?
I do. Most Texans I know, we call ourselves “Southern,” but we don’t say we’re “from the South.” Texas is almost its own country. If you go to Europe and you say, “I’m from Oregon,” they’re like, “All right, I don’t know what that is.” But if you say, “I’m from Texas,” they’re like, “Ooooh y’all, yeehaw, cowboy hats!” You tell somebody you’re from Texas, they feel like they know you to some degree, and that’s a cool feeling.
What do you want to teach your children?
That you can compete to win every basketball game, to book every audition, to get the highest score on the test, and you can still be kind. You can be a gracious winner and a gracious loser. I don’t think they need to learn two plus two right now. They’ll learn that eventually. But they do need to learn how to be respectful to their teachers, how to show up on time, how to get along with friends in social circles, how to coexist. Because life is difficult, even when life is great.
What’s something your father taught you about being a man?
My dad was always very quick to admit when he was wrong. Every time you can say, “That was my fault” or “I was incorrect,” you are actually becoming a better person. Being quick to accept culpability is a big part of who I try to be. There’s something so wonderful about the feeling you get when you can say to somebody, “I’m sorry, no excuses, I won’t let it happen again.” There’s something very freeing about taking responsibility. I falter, but I really strive to be a good person. And I try to forgive myself when I am not the person that I want to be.
Are you optimistic about the future?
Extremely. I feel like the entire world has been through something so unexpected and tragic. We have all suffered together in our own ways. And this is going to sound weird, but in a wonderful way I think a lot of us learned what we can still be grateful for. When everything is crashing down around you, you have to find purpose. And I want to keep on searching for that purpose. The way I see it is, if you think you have all the answers, then what’s the point of living? I believe that if you haven’t learned from whoever you’re talking to, then you haven’t been listening.

Jared Padalecki on the Sweet (and Unique) Musical Bedtime Tradition He Has with His Daughter, 3½
Jared Padalecki's daughter Odette Elliott, 3½, has a preference for a very specific (and unconventional) lullaby.
In a conversation with PEOPLE for this week's issue, out now, the Walker star, 38, says that he always comes equipped with a new offering for his little girl when it's time for her to go to sleep, as she "always wants a bedtime song or story."
"Last night I made up a song about a coyote chasing cats," Padalecki shares. "Your 3-year-old asks for a song about a coyote, you just do it."
After being on Supernatural for 15 years, the father of three (he and wife Genevieve also shares sons Austin Shepherd, 7, and Thomas Colton, 8½) admits he's happy to embrace his "homebody" nature.
"During Supernatural, there were some months where I would only see my family for three or four days. That's the reason Jensen [Ackles, his costar] and I wanted to bid a fond farewell to it," Padalecki says.
He adds, "We both have wives and three kids and wanted to meet them."
Padalecki is also excited for his children to see his new show, which is a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger, the 1993-2001 show starring Chuck Norris.
"For 15 years, I worked on a show that I didn't really want my kids to watch because I'd have to explain why Daddy was bleeding, and why Daddy was killing Mommy or why Uncle Jensen killed Mommy," he tells PEOPLE.
"They were having nightmares, and so the idea that I could let them watch this new show is pretty special," Padalecki adds.
And when he and his family are traveling, Padalecki always comes prepared — even if it might mean a little bit of overkill to some.
"My wife, Genevieve, and I took our kids on a road trip to Yellowstone, so I went to a survival store and bought three or four bear sprays and attached them to my belt," he says.
"She was like, 'You look like an idiot,' " adds Padalecki, admitting he's "terrified" of the mammals. "But you never know."

The Unexpected Perks of Being a Nanny~ Chapter Eleven
Pairing: Jared x Reader
Word Count: 2.2k
Warnings: None
A few days later, you were back in Vancouver, awaiting the return of Jared and Genevieve’s little munchkins. Jared had already left for work by the time you woke up. You called Adam to see how he and Adelaide were doing, how their father was. The more you thought about it, the more you realized how their father resembled your mother. You wish you could do more for the twins, except Adam didn’t want your help anymore. Not after the news of his father was held from him. He managed to put up with you for five minutes or so on FaceTime, but that was about it. You pulled yourself up out of bed and made some breakfast. You scrambled some eggs and toasted some toast. While the kettle boiled, you scrolled through your Instagram, your feed loading up Jared and Jensen’s faces, some pictures of you and Jared at the convention. You smiled, liked the picture and scrolled on past. Nothing really caught your eye and before you knew it, the kettle was whistling at you. You flipped up the top and poured the scalding, hot water out into your favorite mug. You took your tea out into the living room and curled up on the couch, ready to flick on Netflix and click continue watching: Friends. You finished The one where Rachel has a baby part one and two last night at nearly 1 AM.  Jared was long asleep by then. The day went by quick, you watched almost half the season of Friends before Jared got home. When he was home, he hung his sweater on the custom made shelf in the foyer and kicked his shoes off to the side. He made his way into the living room and took a seat on the couch. Before saying anything to each other, he pressed his lips against yours. It felt like anytime you two kissed, there were sparks flying! Each time was like the first time. The second your lips touched, it was like a signal for the butterflies in your stomach to fly.
“I missed you.” You mumbled against his soft lips.
You took in his scent. He smelled like cologne, coffee and- make up. You chuckled to yourself and gave him another kiss, Jared’s tongue slipped past your lips and explored your mouth.
“I missed you too.” He chuckled, pulling away from you.
“What will be for supper tonight, honey?”
“Let’s do something simple, like soup and sandwiches.” He nestled his face in the crook of your neck.
“Sounds nice.” You smiled.
The next morning, Genevieve flew in and arrived at the house. It was a Saturday and your plans to sleep in got kicked to the curb. You woke up to Odette drooling all over you, and Tom n’ Shep poking and shaking you.
“Ugh, what the fu-?”
“MORNING!” The two boys exclaimed
And that’s how you were woken up, by the three Padalecki children, with their father standing above you, holding Odette. Even though you knew they’d be arriving, it was still a shock to be woken with such happy, giggly little bodies.
“Alright boys, now that she’s awake, how ‘bout you two get off her, so she can join us for breakfast downstairs,” Jared said while walking to the window to let in the natural light.
You threw the blankets off you and sat up, stretching. You heard Odette babbling. Thomas and Shepherd threw their arms around you.
“Missed Y/N.” Shep cooed.
“I missed you too.” You pressed a kiss against his forehead.
“Did you miss me too, Y/N?” Thomas intervened.
“You betcha!” You giggled, kissing Tom’s forehead too.
You fixed your sports bra and shorts as you stood up, helping Shep get off the bed. Jared brough Odette back over. You held your arms out for her and she put her arms up too as she leaned your way, signalling she wanted to be with you. You gladly took her from Jared as you made your way down over the stairs.
“Hold onto the rail, Thomas.” You warned nervously.
Tom loved living on the dangerous side of things. Breaking his nose hadn’t even come to his mind anymore! You were glad to see he was feeling better. Jared came down the stairs behind you, holding onto Shep’s hand. Genevieve embraced you in a hug as soon as you got off the stairs. Careful not to squish Odette, you wrapped your free arm around Genevieve and hugged her back.
“It’s good to see you.” She whispered into your ear.
“It’s good to see you too.” You chuckled.
The six of you sat down to the table. Odette sat in her high chair next to Genevieve, giving Gen time to eat before Odette wanted to eat too. Jared had a beautiful breakfast cooked. Bacon, eggs, toast and a yogurt, plus a cup of tea and a glass of juice set out in your spot. When’s it’s just you and Jared, you two will eat in the breakfast nook, over by the patio doors, but with everyone in the house, you ate in the dining room. You sat across from Shep. Genevieve sat on you left and Thomas sat at the end of the table, his favorite spot. Jared sat on Shep’s right, facing Gen.
You smiled across the table at Jared, “Thank you for breakfast, this is beautiful, Jare.”
“You’re welcome,”He smiled softly back at you.
Once you were all done with breakfast, Gen spoke up.
“So about Thomas’s schooling- Jared and I originally planned for the boys to go to school in Austin. Then I, stupidly, took a job that interferes with that plan.” Gen sighed.
She took Odette out of the high chair and placed the baby in her laps. You knew by now, the poor kid was hungry.  She started feeding Odette before she continued.
“I figured it would be best for Thomas to go to school here in Vancouver, at least until I finish this project or maybe for whole year. Moving him around a lot is going to cause a lot of disruptions in his learning.”
You nodded as Gen spoke, Jared and yourself taking in everything she was saying.
“Considering you’re here twenty-four/seven, there’s no point in me hiring a nanny. It-it’s just easier that way.” She sighed. “The new plan is, Tom, Shep and Odette are going to stay up here for almost the whole month, with the exception a long weekend that I’m going to take Thomas out of school for. It’ll only be Friday and Monday that he’ll miss school. If that’s okay?”
“Of course, it’s okay with me, I mean you’re his mom.” You shrugged, “If it’s okay with Jared, it’s okay with me!”
“Yeah, it’s okay with me.” Jared started, “The kids deserve to see their mom as much as they can!”
Later on that day, Gen packed up whatever stuff she had and gave the kids kisses. Before you knew it, she was on her flight, back down to LA for filming. Tom and Shep were in the playroom while you were out in the kitchen with Jared. Odette was curled up in your arms, she was playing with her shirt.
“What’s for supper, dear?” You asked, playing with Odette’s hair.
“I figured sloppy joes.” Jared smiled at the two of you.
Tom popped out into the kitchen and took a seat at the table.
“Daddy!” He exclaimed. “We seen Aunt Meggie and Uncle Jeff!”
“Really? Did you have fun with Aunt Meggie and Uncle Jeff?” Jared asked.
“Yeah. We had lots of fun!” Thomas smiled. “We went to Uncle Jeff’s office and we got to play with the toys!”
“Wow, kiddo! Sounds like you had fun!”
“And Auntie Meggie read us lots of stories! We also seen nanny Padalecki, but poppy wasn’t there. Does nanny and poppy not live toge-together anymore? Like mommy and daddy?” Thomas rambled on.
“Nanny and Poppy still live together, it’s just Poppy must’ve been working when you were there, silly goose.” Jared laughed, ruffling up Thomas’s hair.
“Momma says at Christmas time, we can go to Nanny and Poppy Cortese’s!”
Jared let out a little huff.
“What-what’s wrong, Jared?” You questioned.
“Gen took the kids with her last Christmas when the divorce was fresh.”  He grumbled.
“It’s our turn to have them for Christmas.” He sighed. “Don’t- don’t worry about it. I’ll talk to Gen and see.”
Our. It always gave you goosebumps. You loved when Jared included you in the kids lives.
“Well, we are going to have the kids a lot more than usual, maybe Gen feels that she should have the kids over Christmas if they’re spending basically all their time with us.”
“Still. Christmas is different.”
You could tell Jared was getting agitated.
“You’re right. You’re right. Gen had the kids last Christmas. You should have them this Christmas.”
It was public knowledge that Jared and Genevieve were finalizing their divorce when they announced that Gen was pregnant again. In your late night talks, Jared’s mentioned about how they were trying to keep their marriage going for Tom and Shep. He talked about when Gen told him she was pregnant again and how heartbroken he was. You sense he knew his marriage wasn’t going to last. And by the way Jared talked about it, Genevieve knew it wasn’t going to work out either. Jared and Gen were better off as friends.
“I wants to ‘pend Christmas with mommy, daddy n’ Y/N!” Thomas cried out.
“You’ll have to ask mommy about that one, buddy.” Jared sighed, “Daddy doesn’t see that happening.”
You ran a hand through Tom’s hair, quickly changing the subject.
“Why don’t we go put all your school stuff together while daddy puts Odette down for a nap?”
Tom nodded and ran off to find his school stuff. You handed Odette to Jared and placed a small kiss against his lips.
“I love you.” You smiled.
“I love you too.”
Within the next couple of days, you and Jared were dropping Thomas off to Kindergarten.
“Have a good day, okay, buddy?” You ran your hands through his hair to fix it up.
“I will, Y/N!” He exclaimed.
You pressed a kiss against his forehead. Thomas wrapped his arms around your neck and gave you a squeeze. After finishing hugging Thomas, you stepped out of the way so Jared could get some face-to-face time with Tom, before he became a kindergartener.
“Daddy loves you, buddy.” He smiled, ruffling up Tom’s hair.
“Oh, Jared!” You exclaimed. “I just fixed that!”
Laughing, you tried fixing the little boy’s hair again. Jared and Thomas hugged and kissed while you snapped various photos for Genevieve and probably some for Instagram too.
“Come on now, bud, Y/N promised she’d take lots of photos for mommy.”
Odette, who was on your back in her Lenny Lamb, cooed away, looking at all the people coming in and out of the classrooms. You brought Tom into the classroom, standing him up next to the wall. You took a photo of him and his teacher. You took another one of him, his teacher and Jared. Ms. Hiscock seemed like the type of person who just loved kids--who had enough patience to fill their tiny brains with new information, even when they don’t want to co-operate. She reminded you of yourself. Jared and Shep looked around while you took some more pictures of Thomas. Odette started to get fussy, you knew what she wanted, her mid-morning bottle. You began to bounce her up and down, hoping she’d settle. But no, of course not. Odette was a gut, just like her brothers! And when it came to food, she wanted it right away.
“Hello, hi… Ms. Hiscock?” You intervened as she was writing something on a piece of paper.
“Yes, hi! Y/N, right? Thomas is such a sweet little boy!” She smiled, setting her pen down.
“Yeah… Isn’t he just the sweetest?” You smiled. “Do you mind if I hang out in the back of the classroom and feed Odette, here, her bottle? I’ll be quick.”
“I don’t mind, I’m going to be giving the introduction to the kindergarteners any minute now and then I’m going to give them some coloring sheets.” She grinned.
You took a seat in the back of the classroom and slipped Odette around and out of her carrier. You waved at Jared, signalling for him to come over. He knew exactly what you needed and pulled a bottle out.
“It’s still pretty warm, I dunno if she’ll drink it yet.” Jared shrugged, handing you the bottle.
You shrugged as well, taking the bottle from him. You laid Odette back in your arms and began feeding her. To no surprise, Odette sucked back the bottle, not minding that it was a bit too warm. Another couple of parents joined you and Jared in the back of the classroom. Jared extended his hand over the table to the other couple. Both the man and the woman shook his hand, whereas, you smiled and nodded towards them.  Silently explaining how you couldn’t shake their hands as well. You felt Jared’s hand run over your back. You glanced down at Odette who was starting to doze off. When you shifted your head back up, Jared’s face was less than a centimeter away from yours. He leaned in a bit further and kissed you passionately.
“Mm Jare.” You mumbled. “What’s that for?”
“Just cause.” He shrugged and smiled.
