Skyrim Main Quest Revisions
I’ve been thinking a lot about why I wasn’t a big fan of the vanilla Skyrim main quest and I think it really boils down to two things; lack of agency, and pacing. I can point to things I liked better about the stories of TES:III and TES:IV so taking those principles, I’ve made some alterations to slow the pace of the main quest a bit, and give the player back a bit more of a sense of agency.
1) The Helgen sequence through Farengar giving the player the first quest to retrieve the dragon stone remains the same.
2) Keep the Bleak Falls Barrow quest relatively unchanged however, have Delphine stop the player in and inquire about what they’re doing, maybe outside the Riverwood Trader. The player can have a few options about how to respond, but none of them are very important, it’s just setting up later interactions by making sure players know who Delphine is.
3) Continue maintaining canon events through the end of the Bleak Falls Barrow quest, however, have things go slightly awry during Dragon Rising. The player arrives at the Whiterun watchtower and witnesses the end of the dragon’s attack, however, with the watchtower destroyed, the dragon flies away. You report back to Balgruf. (This would be a great place for some side quests to earn the armor of Whiterun and Lydia, like checking on other watchtowers or establishing a greater guard presence in settlements).
4) As you’re leaving Dragonsreach, Delphine will approach the player again. She’ll explain she’s a part of a faction that studies dragon lore, (an offshoot of the old mages guild, a guild dedicated to Skyrim history, ext. The Blade are spies, they should be masters of subterfuge and lies). She’ll say that she suspects she knows where the dragons are coming from, and essentially give you the A Blade in the Dark quest. You’ll take a peek at Farengar’s map and go off to find the dragon burial site. Here, you will witness Alduin resurrecting  Sahloknir, however, you won’t get the chance to fight him here, he’ll fly away
5) Report back to Delphine. She’ll give some more exposition, and tell you she’s going to need to reach out to some contacts to find out hat the next steps should be. You’ll leave the Sleeping Giant and, Riverwood will be under attack! Sahloknir will have followed you, and you’ll face off against him. This should be a difficult fight, ala the Difficult Dragons mod or something similar. (There will also be more emotional impact, especially if you’ve done aforementioned potential sidequests to have invested more time and resources into Riverwood). Once you defeat Sahloknir and absorb his soul, people will be startled. Then, whoever helped you out of Helgen will tell you about the old stories, of people who could kill dragons, but there will be more emphasis on them being legends, not fact. (Oral tradition is great but what we see in IRL oral tradition is a lot of muddying of the original story and event between tellers. Everyone has their own version). They’ll suggest you go to the nearby village of Ivarstead where you might be able to learn more about and meet the reclusive Greybeards, who allegedly know things about this.
6) The Way of the Voice quest here progresses as normal. The Greybeards give you a little training, then send you off to find the horn of Jurgen Windcaller, which you will. This proves that you are a dragonborn, although here it would be nice to have a more open explanation of how that’s possible. Maybe you’re a descendant of Talos, or Alesia, or just blessed by Akatosh. Maybe it’s a Nerevarine type situation where a person will rise to accomplish a great feat to save the world because it’s needed to, but that person’s will to do so is what’s important, not being “The Chosen One.”
7) Delphine will send for you via courier a little later on, and reveal the truth about her status as a blade and her desire to help you, the dragon slayer, on your mission. Now that you’re a bit higher level and have a bit more renown, the quests progress more or less as normal. With a single exception.
8) Have the Paarthurnax Dilemma, or something similar, as cannon. Unite your two greatest allies, who distrust each other, against a common enemy, and have everyone grow from the experience.
As an epilogue, I would have loved more friendly interactions and things to do with the dragons Paarthurnax is teaching to be good, in addition to the dragon-hunting quests you can get from the blades. I think that would balance it out.
All of this slows down how fast you become important while keeping most of the original content. The player has more time to run off and do what they want, as you’re not being as shotgunned through the first five quests. It also (attempts) to give the player character a little more agency in why they think they’re the dragonborn.
This is just my personal thoughts, I would love to know if other people agreed or had their own ideas on the main quest.

OC Interview--Ysmir
Rules:

Tumblr media
1. What is your name?
Ysmir. I’m told it’s a man’s name, but I think “dragon of the North” transcends such things, don’t you?
2. Do you know why are you named that?
The Greybeards Named me. Where I grew up, earning a Name meant you were worth something, so I adopted it wholeheartedly.
3. Are you single or taken?
I have two lovers, but I don’t consider myself “taken.” I don’t belong to anyone but myself.
4. Have any abilities or powers?
...I’m a Dragonborn. I kill dragons and absorb their power, which is mostly yelling at things, to be truthful.
5. Stop being a Mary Sue.
I’m afraid I’ve no idea what that means but your tone implies I should set you on fire.
6. What’s your eye color?
Violet. Yes, I know it’s unusual. I would have preferred blue or brown, to be honest.
7. How about your hair color?
Red. Apparently both my hair and eye color come from the Dunmer side of my family, and so look unusual on a human. Again, I would have preferred something less noticeable.
8. Have any family members?
Oh, yes! I have seven children, and I consider my housecarl, Lydia, and my friend Inigo to be family as well. As for my birth family...I have a sister still alive somewhere, I hope.
9. Oh? How about pets?
We have a little farm with chickens and a cow, Shags. I have a few horses, though I just lost my favorite, Jughead, to magical anomalies. My daughter Lucia has an Ice Wolf she calls Precious, and my son Blaise just brought home a pregnant husky from Fort Dawnguard. Isran is still insisting I pay for her.
10. That’s cool, I guess. Now tell me something you don’t like?
Being asked a plethora of random questions by a total stranger. You?
11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
I enjoy alchemy. I also get restless when I haven’t fought anything in a while, so I suppose I must enjoy that, too.
12. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?
...My destiny was literally killing things. Dragons in particular, but this country has a lot of bandits.
13. Ever… killed anyone before?
You don’t listen very well, do you?
14. What kind of animal are you?
Excuse me?
15. Name your worst habits?
Probably rushing into a situation without thinking things through. Everyone says I’m reckless.
16. Do you look up to anyone at all?
*grins* I’m pretty short in a land full of Nords. On a more serious note, I look up to Paarthurnax. He keeps working for a redemption I think he’s long earned, and doesn’t give up on it. I look up to a few people from my past, as well, but I don’t talk about them much.
17. Are you gay, straight or bisexual?
What on Nirn does that mean? *looks at list of definitions, raising eyebrows* You people have a lot of ways of describing things. I suppose I’d be a “heterosexual polyromantic.” I do not wish to place all my affections and needs on one person, just as I wouldn’t want them to put all their affections and needs on me if I wasn’t equipped to meet them.
18. Do you go to school?
I went to the College of Winterhold for a time, but left after I attained my mastery in Destruction and Conjuration.
19. Ever want to marry and have kids one day?
I have children already, thank you, and I’d rather avoid the concept of marriage altogether.
20. Do you have any fangirls/fanboys?
I’ve met a few people who fawned on the idea of meeting a Dragonborn. I think I disappointed many of them by not being Nord enough. Otherwise, it’s mostly people trying to use me somehow.
21. What are you most afraid of?
Do you always ask strangers these questions? I’d very much like for my children to not have to deal with the Thalmor.
22. What do you usually wear?
*gestures to self* Mage robes. Light armor if I expect to face something especially challenging.
23. What’s one food that tempts you?
Sweetrolls. Don’t they have that effect on everyone, though?
24. Am I annoying to you?
Very much.
25. Well, it’s still not over!
Joy.
26. What class are you (low/middle/high)?
I entered Skyrim in rags, but I’d be considered high class now. I’m a Thane in several Holds and own property in each of them. I don’t believe in flaunting it, though.
27. How many friends do you have?
Quite a few. Lydia, Serana, Inigo, and Aela are probably my closest ones, though. Farkas and Vilkas as well, though things are a bit awkward with Vilkas yet. I’m not sure he’ll ever forgive me for loving Miraak.
28. What are your thoughts on pie?
...It’s very efficient? Are we talking dessert pies, hand pies, meat pies? They’re sort of a staple of the diet here in Skyrim. Some I loath, some I’d eat several days a week. It really depends.
29. Favorite drink?
I enjoy Colovian Brandy, but it’s difficult to come by.
30. What’s your favorite place?
I don’t really have one. The idea of a favorite place invokes a sense of peace and comfort, but I can find that in many places in many moments. I suppose, then, my favorite place would be wherever my family is.
31. Are you interested in anyone?
Currently, I’m with Miraak and Farkas.
32. That was a stupid question…
A bit, yes.
33. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?
Are either of them actually warm?
34. What’s your type?
Of what?
35. Any fetishes?
I have been informed I have a “size kink.” I live in a land, however, where the average man is at least a head taller than me, so I don’t know what people expect me to do. Go court Rieklings?
36. Camping or outdoors?
Camping is outdoors. Are you on skooma?

🎁 and 💗 for deebee blease
Anon I owe u my lyfe also props for using his dumb nickname sjkfdhf
🎁 What would be the perfect gift to buy your OC? What would be the worst gift? Are they themselves any good at gifting things or are they really indescisive? How do they wrap their presents?
The perfect gift is any kind of weapon- his favourite are war axes. Bonus points if you forged it yourself, and/or if it’s exceptionally beautiful. Shields also apply though, with the same as the above. It means even more to him if you forged it yourself. Also, chickens. Give him a cute little hen and he’ll cry.
Worst gift would easily be anything that mocks his quirks or weaknesses- give him a revealing outfit will quickly annoy him. Dead animals also apply here- give him a dead mudcrab and you’re getting beat with said mudcrab.
Deebee tends to give more little things often then hard, thought out gifts. He’s fond of showering friends and loved ones in things like food or little trinkets he notices them eyeing. Don’t expect him to wrap them though, he usually either gives them straight or hides them in places that he knows the giftee will look.
💗 Relationships? Who are their friends, their family relations, lover(s), foes? What sort of personalities really tick them off and what others do they like? Is there anything that’d ruin a friendship for them?
Rayya is a big one- he probably trusts her more then anyone he knows in Skyrim. Hadvar comes in a close second, I’ve mentioned before that he’s been intimate with Hadvar before and pines for him. After the civil war was wrapped up, he visits him in Riverwood as often as he can get away with. It helps that Delphine doesn’t live there anymore.
He has still living family in Cyrodiil, but he hasn’t talked to them in a long time. He especially misses his sister- She ran off and eloped when she was 18, and his family disowned her for her choice of husband. He doesn’t know what happened to her, but he misses her muchly and hopes she’s well. He’s not sure about his own parents either, but he’s fairly sure his father is dead.
He definitely has foes, though hardly any worth mentioning. And while perhaps not foe status, Delphine and him definitely don’t get along after she demanded he kill Paarthurnax. If he was one for revenge killing, she’d be on the list.
Other then that though, Deebee can get along well with most types of personalities. Though it definitely helps to be a handsome man... The only type of person he can’t stand is people who insist that their morals are the right ones that absolutely everyone must follow. He himself has his own strong moral code, but he tries not to demand people follow it because he knows everyone has a different life.

Oc Interview: Valkrea
Rules:
1 Choose an OC.
2 Answer them as that OC.
3 Tag 5 people to do the same!
Tagged by: @themapleleafdiaries
Tagging: Idk who to tag adfasdf. If you want to do it, then you are tagged by me :>
1. What is your name?
Valkrea.
2. Do you know why are you named that?
My parents just liked that name.
3. Are you single or taken?
Married.
4. Have any abilities or powers?
Well, I am the Dragonborn. I can shout and do whatever else being a dragonborn entails. I am also a good archer. I have a smidge of restoration magic ability too.
5. Stop being a Mary Sue.
You won’t be calling me that after I blast you off a mountain.
6. What’s your eye color?
Green with black sclera.
7. How about your hair color?
Blonde.
8. Have any family members?
Odahviing, Paarthurnax, and both my parents.
9. Oh? How about pets?
Nah. Though sometimes I just get the urge to want to adopt the biggest, goofiest, and slobbery dog. I’d name it Horker. Don’t question me.
10. That’s cool, I guess. Now tell me something you don’t like?
Anyone who is very quick to judge by your appearance. I absolutely hate the Thalmor. Men who don’t respect a woman’s (or anyone’s) boundaries get their asses handed to them. The Silver-Bloods and Hermaeus Mora are shit too.
11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
I like to make wood carvings or my own arrows when I need to pass time. I love flying on Odahviing too. I practice my dovahzul and nordic sign language occasionally.
12. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?
Yeah.
13. Ever… killed anyone before?
Also yeah. What is with these questions? What are you going to do? Call the guards?
14. What kind of animal are you?
Do I look like an animal to you? Are you another racist nord??
15. Name your worst habits?
I don’t think before I act. Everyone always tells me that at least. They also say that i’m very suspicious of everyone?
16. Do you look up to anyone at all?
No?
17. Are you gay, straight or bisexual?
Bi.
18. Do you go to school?
Not really. I learned the basics from my parents and my grandfather (who did go to school back in Summerset Isles) taught me many other subjects. I joined the College of Winterhold later on after I was dragonborn but I don’t spend much time there.
19. Ever want to marry and have kids one day?
I have thought about kids but I am not sure it’s possible with everything going on in my life right now.
20. Do you have any fangirls/fanboys?
You mean like those utterly incompetent Miraak Cultists? I hope I don’t have any.
21. What are you most afraid of?
Losing Odahviing comes to mind.
22. What do you usually wear?
Whatever I want. I do like dressing in lighter outfits more often. I only wear heavier things like armor if I need to.
23. What’s one food that tempts you?
a good meaty stew...
24. Am I annoying to you?
Yes, who has time to be asking all these questions? I am only here because my friends insisted.
25. Well, it’s still not over!
I am this close to wanting to blast you off a mountain.
26. What class are you (low/middle/high)?
I suppose I am middle class.
27. How many friends do you have?
I can only count them on one hand.
28. What are your thoughts on pie?
I better be compensated in pie for these questions.
29. Favorite drink?
I don’t have it very often but I do love coffee.
30. What’s your favorite place?
High Hrothgar.
31. Are you interested in anyone?
I’m married.
32. That was a stupid question…
Very stupid.
33. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?
Lake.
34. What’s your type?
I have never particularly had a type but I do like bigger and taller than me.
35. Any fetishes?
You know what? We are done here. I will blast you off a mountain if you ask me that again.
36. Camping or outdoors?
Both?

The Elder Scrolls VI wish list:
In-depth character customization with tons of options: everything from colors of both inner and outer iris to height and voice.
Player character origins. I want a choice between having completely blank origins, so that I can create my own backstory, or choose between a couple of existing ones, which will affect the gameplay in the long run. Like if I choose to be an Outlaw at some point a team of bandits instead of attacking me will give me a quest, or if I decide that I want to be a Noble, then aristocratic NPCs will recognize me as one of their own and as such I’ll have easier time gaining their trust.
A well working physics engine, so that we can have realistic flowing hair, clothes that move in the wind, horse’s mane and tail that swish realistically when it gallops, etc.
At least some environmental objects being destructible: rocks falling to pieces after getting hit by a stray fireball, enemies getting thrown at certain walls, that crumble and crush said enemies, bridges that can be brought down to cut off the path, locked doors that can be destroyed with a few swings of a maul. Just let me annihilate piles of crates and barrels like other games do, damnit!
Player character being a physical presence recognized by the game world, such as grass swaying when I walk through it, my feet leaving footprints on snow and sand that look different depending on whether I’m barefoot or not, seeing all the little rocks being kicked about as I run on gravel, and piles of dead leaves doing the same when I run through them, dust and small debris falling from old wooden structures as I step on them, etc. Basically, feeling like my body isn’t just a ghost running through the lands without leaving a trace.
Ability to combine spells with each other or the environment for various effects, like they did it in Divinity Original Sin 2. I want to be able to throw a lightning bolt into a puddle and electrocute all the enemies stood in the water, or throw a fireball at a barrel of oil and cause a platform to collapse under the force of an explosion and kill the archers that were on said platform (again about the destructible objects), or cast an ice spell on water, so that the enemies slip, fall and get stunned. If such a mechanic is not full of potential for some ridiculous and hilarious situations, then I don’t know what is.
Unique companions with backstories and personalities, likes and dislikes, goals and agendas. They can also be romanced by ANY player character, no matter their sex/race/other traits and the romance progression is close to a real life relationship, with ups and downs, jokes and arguments, sexy times and break ups.
Let me have a squad of my own. Two or maybe even three companions at once. They also have their own relationships and opinions about each other. They chat, they argue, they flirt, they rant about being forced to travel with that jerk, they get overprotective towards the player if they’re romanced and hear the other one catcalling the player, they share their opinions, give the player advice on the current situation, they each have their own comments about places and other NPCs and they may or may not see eye to eye on those opinions. Let there be drama in true “party of DnD adventurers” fashion!
Also Dogmeat-like animal companion, who can travel alongside other companions and do stuff like sniff out enemies, find goodies, do tricks, duplicate items, grab items from containers with master locks on them... You know, the usual Dogmeat stuff.
Mounts other than horses. I want to see Redguards riding their camels, Khajiiti caravans with senches, Nords putting bears under the saddle. If horses are still the only rideable animal, then I want variety and customization: lots of breeds to choose from, individual armor, saddlebags and cosmetic items, ability to name a horse and have it come to the player at a single whistle. Also, Shadowmere. TES 6 won’t be the same without that demonic horse.
At least one friendly dragon. Because I need more of Paarthurnax.
More active Divines. Daedric quests are fun, no arguing there, but I’d also like to go on a holy quest bestowed upon me by, say, Akatosh himself, not some old prophecy. Also Divine relics to counterbalance Daedric artifacts.
More stuff to kill your time with. Games at taverns, visiting brothels, betting on horse racing or participating yourself, watching street performers and so on. I want to take part in the same entertainment the inhabitants of Tamriel do, damnit!
More alive, realistic world. If there’s a war I want to see hanged deserters on a tree, if it’s autumn I want to see people throwing harvest festival parties in their towns and cities, if it’s a plague outbreak I want to see corpses, sick people and hear church bells... Again, the Witcher 3 did it, now I want all of this grungy, dirty, realistic shit in the next TES game!
Tons of dialogue choices based on the player character’s skills, traits, race, sex, affiliation with factions, etc. I want NPCs to react to the character in a dynamic way, so that each new playthrough with a new character is fresh and inexperienced before. Let them Nords throw sexist comments at my Dunmer lady, let the Khajiits deny information to any other character that is not a Khajiit, let my bulky Nord fellow get discounts at the bar and my Imperial guy in fancy clothes get into the royal palace way easier that an Argonian in a hood would. I want to feel, see and hear that NPCs know and react to my character in a realistic way, so there are more challenges, interesting moments, secret dialogues and hidden quests only available for a certain character that made certain choices. Let the next game be the true definition of RPG!
Khajiits and Argonians having animal-like legs that they had back in TES III Morrowind. Please.
Longer and more complicated guild quests, so that even joining the guild requires time and skill, let alone progressing through ranks. And don’t make me a leader of each and every faction! Make me a second in command or a high ranking official with new perks and armor as a reward. Don’t make me the most overpowered mortal in Tamriel again, because it’s getting old fashioned.
Some sort of an ability tree, which allows you to tinker and make bombs, traps, contraptions and other awesome goodies that’ll make any combat a wild party.
Good third person animations. C’mon, Bethany Esda, I know you can do it.
Voiced protagonist. If not fully, then on the Divinity Original Sin 2′s level, where the player character does not speak in dialogues, but has voiced comments when interacting with certain objects or entering a location, etc. Or just add an option in the Settings menu to turn on or off player character’s voice.
Ability to hide that ugly ass helmet with a single click of a button, without being forced to choose between showing my awesome hairdo to the world and +5 to Armor Rating.
Ability to equip multiple weapons at once and also being able to see them on my character, i. e. a bow on my back, and axe on my right hip, a dagger on my left hip and a staff alongside the bow. Also they jiggle according to physics.
Big cities. No, I mean, like, really, truly BIG cities. I mean some Novigrad from the Witcher 3 type of big cities. I want to get lost in them. I want to find all the secrets, hidden in dark alleys and on the rooftops. I want countless quests within the city itself. Just let me enjoy some fantasy medieval city life, okay?
Animated activities. When I click to skin a dead deer I want to see my character sit down and do some work with a knife. When I go to a spot where fish is abundant I want to see a fishing rod being thrown into the water. That sorta thing.
Detailed crafting system. I. e. you could choose to make a handle of a sword and its blade from different materials and have different effects on them that combine once you put the sword together. Or whilst making armor you could pick between different textures, materials, colors and such.  Basically, what they did in Dragon Age Inquisition. That was a fun system to play around with.
Also more subcategories for crafting, like if you are a high level smith you could craft some horseshoes for your mount that’ll increase its galloping speed, or if you’re a skilled alchemist you could make a throwable potion which will harm the enemies in a certain way (like a jar of bees or something). And, of course, accompanying animations are welcome. I’d die to see my character put some horseshoes on their steed.
A loveable villain, who could be “persuaded” to abandon his goals, join your squad and become your new LI. Basically, Miraak 2.0, but with a happily ever after ending.
Dwemer prosthetics. Sotha Sil thinks he’s so hip with his metallic arm, doesn’t he? Well I too want to have a metallic arm, damnit!
Ability to furnish your house however you like. When you buy a house there could be a choice between a fully furnished version and an unfurnished version of your house. After that you could either re-arrange the furniture in your abode or buy new furniture that suits your tastes. Then you could enter furnishing mode and have a blast decorating your dream house to your heart’s content. Basically, what we saw in Fallout 4′s Homeplate and Fizztop Grille.
Outposts, keeps or anything like that. They could be like small bases that you take control of once you slaughter its previous owners, where you and your squad of companions could rest, talk, repair broken armor and weapons or buy new ones, stock up on potions and bandages, that sort of thing. There also could be a special object that will allow you to instantly switch between the companions and/or choose a different mount from a collection of those that you own. Also there could be a badass custom flag of yours marking that place as your own.
i’ll proly add some more later, but rn i’m out of ideas xD

★ FILL IN THE QUESTIONS AS IF YOU ARE BEING INTERVIEWED FOR AN ARTICLE AND YOU WERE YOUR MUSE.
1. WHAT IS YOUR NAME?   “ I have many, but many know me as Ysmir Stormcrown, and the Last Dragonborn. ”
2. WHAT IS YOUR REAL NAME?   “ When I was born my mother gave me the name Andrel. ”
3. DO YOU KNOW WHY YOU’RE CALLED THAT? “ No. It’s just a name similar to others of my race. ”
4. ARE YOU SINGLE OR TAKEN? “ Single. I haven’t had much time to deal with romance and the like. ”
5. WHAT ARE YOUR POWERS AND ABILITIES? “ I’ve always been good with a blade and bow and arrow. Been practicing them since I was just a young lad. Not too bad at destruction or restoration magic, either, though I have a preference for the latter. Some might argue my true power comes from being the Dragonborn. I possess a mortal body of a man, but my blood and soul is that of the dragons. Because of the sossedov - the dragonblood, I can effortlessly learn words of power and use them in battle. I also absorb the life force and knowledge of any dragons I’ve slain. ”
6. WHAT COLOR ARE YOUR EYES? ” Brown. ”
7. HAVE YOU EVER DYED YOUR HAIR? “ Why would anybody do that? ”
8. DO YOU HAVE ANY FAMILY MEMBERS? ” My parents are still alive and live in the small settlement of Bruma in Cyrodiil. ”
9. DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS? “Two large hounds named Meeko and Vigilance. Meeko’s previous master passed away and I found him while wandering the woods one day. Vigilance I acquired from a man outside Markarth for 500 Septims. ”
10. TELL ME ABOUT SOMETHING YOU DON’T LIKE. “ I find it beyond irritating when people think they can boss me around and treat me like a puppet. “
11. DO YOU HAVE ANY HOBBIES OR ACTIVITIES YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME? “ I’m fond of smithing weapons and gardening. I do a lot of alchemy so I like having some ingredients readily available - things I’d normally have to travel a great distance for. I can be afforded some semblance of laziness every now and then, I’m a very busy man normally. ”
12. HAVE YOU EVER HURT ANYONE BEFORE? “ Plenty. ”
13. HAVE YOU EVER… KILLED ANYONE? “ More than I can count. I’m the Dragonborn, a Legate of the Imperial Legion, and a mercenary. Death is bound to follow my presence. ”
14. WHAT KIND OF ANIMAL ARE YOU? “ Some say I have an unsettling wolfish grin. ”
15. NAME YOUR WORST HABITS. “ Probably taking on more projects than I realistically should. ”
16. DO YOU LOOK UP TO ANYONE? “ The Greybeards mean a great deal to me, same as Paarthurnax. ”
17. GAY, STRAIGHT, OR BISEXUAL? “ What do these words even mean? ”
18. DO YOU GO TO SCHOOL? “ I learned everything I know either from my parents or hands-on experimentation and figuring things out for myself. Though I’m not above asking for help if I feel I truly need it. ”
19. DO YOU EVER WANT TO MARRY AND HAVE KIDS SOMEDAY? “ Perhaps someday when my life isn’t a constant whirlwind of danger. I’d hate to leave a wife and children of my own behind. ”
20. DO YOU HAVE ANY FANS? ” I’m sure I’ve a few. Not trying to boast but I did save the world, multiple times. ”
21. WHAT ARE YOU MOST AFRAID OF? “ My world, unraveling from existence itself. ”
22. WHAT DO YOU USUALLY WEAR? ” A leather armor set I made myself. It’s lightweight and durable. ”
23. DO YOU LOVE SOMEONE? “ Romantically, you mean? No. Not at the moment. ”
24. WHAT CLASS ARE YOU? ” Warrior and nobility.”
25. HOW MANY FRIENDS DO YOU HAVE? “ Several. One of them shot me with a poisoned arrow, trying to save my life. Ironic, isn’t it? ”
26. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON PIE? ” Snowberries make them excellent. ”
27. FAVORITE DRINK? “ Mead - or that spiced wine from the Solitude market, made by Evette San. ”
29. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE? “ The Throat of the World. ”

32. WOULD YOU RATHER SWIM IN THE LAKE OR THE OCEAN? ” The only ocean near me is the Sea of Ghosts and it’s called that for a reason. I choose Lake Ilinalta, which happens to be near the house I built for myself. ”

If you don't mind some TES lore questions, could you explain to me who the Nordic demons are and why they're called that? And who each of them is? Feel free to add some of your own headcanons too because they sound interesting I just have literally no idea what they are
the five nordic demons are five chieftains vivec writes about fighting during the war with the nords. they’re all Tongues, masters of the thu’um, probably the rulers of morrowind under occupation, the contemporaries of jurgen wind-caller. there’s not much known about any of them (bar wulfharth) but i have rlly extensive headcanons on them, to the point where i almost consider some of them my own OCs lol. so i’ll divide this into canon and headcanon.
HOAGA– Hoag Mer-Killercanon: he’s the only chieftain other than wulfharth mentioned outside of the 36 lessons– he’s listed as having attended the coronation of emperor goreius (a party nerevar was also said to have attended– imagine the bar fight that must’ve gone down). his father was high king kjoric the white and hoag was elected king after his father’s death, only to be killed in the battle of glenumbra moors a few years later. headcanon: one of the contenders for the title of High King during the war of successions that ravaged skyrim during the latter days of the empire– his own faction consisted mainly of the jarls of morrowind and clans from the volcanic east. he was a necromancer of terrifying proportion, able to use his thu’um to resurrect armies en masse. before staking a claim to title of High King, his seat was Ebonheart.
CHEMUA– the first blightercanon: the only mention of a chemua we find outside of the lessons is in kirkbride’s account of ysgramor’s 500 companions where, interestingly, a shield-maiden is named “mem-yet chemua”. vivec gives chemua the title of “the first blighter” and claims his thu’um could cause acid rain. also said to have turned a chimer hero, dres khizumet-e, into an assassin who made an attempt on nerevar’s life headcanon: chemuas prob one of the most developed of the demons for me, being one of the big antagonists of egg of time. chemua was born and raised in mournhold, five years almalexia’s senior– they knew each other for a span of their childhoods. he left when he was 13 to train under paarthurnax, as was custom for the sons of chieftains, and when he returned soon seized power by poisoning his own father, and later, almalexia’s mother, the puppet-queen/adviser of the time. as his seat was mournhold, central to the breadbasket of morrowind, he was instrumental in hoag’s war-effort and the two had actually trained together on throat of the world as young men. his reign as jarl was troubled by almalexia who, after a long and tumultuous “romantic” relationship, defeated him in a duel and seized control of the city for herself. he seduced khizumet-e and convinced khiz to try and murder nerevar soon after resdayn’s birth. shady, shady dude, this one.
BHAG– the two-tonguedcanon: not much on him either, altho according to MK’s companions thing, bhag was in fact two separate people who confused the devil out of everyone by pretending to be one person, which is an idea i just find fantastic. vivec alleges that he could shapeshift and that he lead small raiding parties throughout the west who caused them a lot of trouble. it’s not clear what happened to him, other than that he got in an argument with vivec, who was on the same level of nonsense that he was. fun guy, this one.
headcanon: i see him as the Obligatory Rogue Type, and also the youngest of the nord demons, having come into power when hoag vacated ebonheart. he never really wanted a throne and was more suited for running amok in the wilderness so when almalexia kindly liberated ebonheart he kinda just said “ok that’s fair” and left for kragenmoor. he was close to the ra’athim of all things and took good ol aunt yoriss to kragenmoor with him. he was kind of just the nord equivalent of a dandy who preferred debates and shenanigans to any form of war
BARFOK– the maiden of the plainscanon: third of whom there is Not Much About, but according to the companions text she was the daughter of one of the 500. also the subject of a rather revolting interpretation of the lessons, which i won’t repeat here, lol.
headcanon: my main headcanon about her is that her thu’um was ‘budget tonal architecture’– she could actually wield it in the same way the dwemer used tonal architecture, changing the very nature of reality by singing. she had a special talent for mind-control. her clan was originally from whiterun; her seat as jarl was narsis, which she actually stole from chemua by persuading its citizens that it was a separate hold and she was its leader, and chemua thought it was so fucking funny that he just let her keep it. they were good friends. but my favorite headcanon about her actually comes from my gf and it’s that during the war vivec seduced her, she hate hir out and the experience was so good that it made her rethink everything and just head back to skyrim.
YSMIR– Wulfharth of Atmora, Dragon of the Northcanon: you know who wulfharth is. infamous immortal shezzarine who loved hanging out around morrowind in the first era, obsessing over the heart of lorkhan but never quite getting his paws on it. can’t seem to stay dead. thu’um so powerful he couldn’t speak aloud without causing destruction. it’s wulfharth, dude
headcanon: he was part of the original conquest of morrowind. technically his seat is blacklight, but he resided on vvardenfell, drawn there by the unconscious allure of the heart of lorkhan. he had an amicable relationship with house dagoth and was even close with voryn– they shared a love of poetry and philosophy, nd a fascination with stories about lorkhan/shor. despite being by far the strongest of the Tongues, he didn’t actually care for politics at all, and wanted no part in any of it– only when nerevar united resdayn and started that war did he finally take up arms and join hoag’s battle. he might be almalexia’s biological father. he was raised by dragons and was illiterate until late in life so his writing isn’t very good; it’s not uncommon for his allies to sometimes receive little slips of paper that give such encouraging messages as “goo job… battle. strong. shor would prod.”

Things about my Dovahkiins
A recent convo with @mrninjapineapple reminded me of this unfinished thing.
I started this questionnaire around March 28th, 2015 and it’s been sitting in my sta.sh unfinished for so long that I forgot who tagged me to do this.
Looking back, it’s quite a silly list of questions, and I originally wanted to scrap the whole thing, but I liked some of my answers, so here it is. You can compare the personalities of my different Dragonborns by their answers.
[I’m planning to make a more serious questionnaire for the characters involved in our collection of stories (The Age of Restoration). I’ll also plan to post some screenshots of them in a later post.]
Onto the questionnaire with 40 silly questions!
1. What is your name? Z: Zinnia(h Fire-Hearth) Y: Yrgrod Ragvirsson C: Casts-First-Asks-Second N: Nicholaus (the Goldsmith) S: Shurag gra-Burz
2. Do you know why you were named that? Z: No. [After a horse called Cinnia, because I thought it sounded unique.] Y: I was named after an old hero and I inherited my fathers family name too. [It was formed from parts of my name, "rág" & "Vir"] C: Yes, I named myself. [And it sounded cool!] N: No, I was too little to ask it by the time and later I was already used to it. [Because he was created on 6th of December, the day of Saint Nicholas (Mikulás in our country)] S: I don't really care about it, it's just a name... [it was formed from a part of my name, "s Virág" sounding "shwirag", with different spelling] 3. Are you single or taken? Z: Taken. Y: Taken. C: Single? I'm unique! N: Was taken. S: Single. 4. Have any abilities or powers? Z: I'm the Dragonborn and a werewolf and I have an ability called Ancestor's wrath Y: I'm the Dragonborn and a werewolf. C: I'm a Volkihar vampire N: Not that I know of, other than still being alive. S: I can go berserk answering such questions. 5. Stop being a Mary-Sue! Z: I do have a bunch of titles, but this one, I never heard of... Y: Isn't that a female name? C: Why should I? N: Silly... S: You mean Shu, right? 6. What's your eye color? Z: Pitch black. Y: Somewhere between blue and green. C: White with a red pupil. Originally my pupil was light blue. N: Green as an emerald. S: It's red. The other one's blind. 7. How about hair color? Z: It's almost black. Y: Some kind of blonde. C: Hair? Phew, filthy thing! I have beautiful horns! N: It was brownish, now it's grey. S: Brown. 8. Have you any family members? Z: A husband and adopted daughters. My parents are dead. Y: I have a wife and adopted kids. My sister and her son died during his birth. C: No, and I'm happy about it. N: I had. S: I adopted a daughter, but I haven't found true love yet. 9. Oh? How about pets? Z: I love horses and I have four: Arvak, Blaze, Frost and Shadowmere. My daughter's pet fox, Vix sometimes lets me cuddle her. Y: I'm a dog man. C: I don't know the Dead Thrall perk yet. Pity. N: I like animals, but I don't want to attach anyone again. S: I have a good horse. I don't need useless critters around me. 10. That's cool, I guess. Now tell me about something you don't like. Z: The Blades. Y: Unnecessary friction. C: Werewolves, Vigilants of Stendarr and the Silver Hand. N: Boots. S: Dragons. 11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do? Z: Reading. I have a library of around three hundred books. Y: I like to sing (though some say that I shouldn't) and listen to the bards. C: I tend to drink guard's blood in Riften. Broad daylight. N: I like to craft jewellery. S: Exploring the vast wilderness of Skyrim. 12. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before? Z: Pretty much. Bandits, creatures, some people. But I only regret some of them. Y: Yes, and he deserved it. He was the reason why my sister died. C: Most possible ways, yes. N: I did, but I wish I shouldn't have. I'm not afraid to protect myself, though. S: I gladly smash in anyone's faces, who deserves it. 13. Ever... killed anyone before? Z: I did. Most time I followed orders, but sometimes for my own good. Y: To name the most important: the usurper Ulfric Stormcloak. C: With pleasure. Also, I need hearts and flesh for crafting. N: Same as Q12. S: It was me or them. No question. 14. What kind of animal are you? Z: I'm a werewolf. And the Dragonborn. Y: I'm a werewolf. C: I'm beastfolk, not animal. I should shed your blood for this question. N: I always considered myself a small and peaceful creature, therefore a squirrel, I guess? S: Orcs are no animals. Oh, you mean metaphorically? I'm a sabrecat. 15. Name your worst habits? Z: Hoarding stuff. Especially ingredients and books. Y: I tend to be hot headed and sometimes I regret things. C: In others eyes, killing for my own amusement is one. N: I tend to be melancholic. S: Smashing in faces. 16. Do you look up to anyone at all? Z: Talos. Y: Sometimes, but they mostly prove they were unworthy to it. Sad. C: No. N: Quite a number of people, yes. S: My mother, Shuzhra was the greatest personality ever. I miss her. 17. Are you gay, straight, or bisexual? Z: Straight. Y: Straight. C: I'm not picky. N: I always thought I was straight, but now I'm not that sure... S: Straight-in-your-face, what kind of unashamed question is this? 18. Do you go to school? Z: No, but I learn new tricks on a weekly basis! Y: No, I'm old enough. C: I never needed school to achieve my goals... N: No, but you are never too old to learn! S: I don't need that, unless it's about potions or fighting! 19. Ever wanna marry and have kids one day? Z: Already married, first child is on his way! Y: I already am, and that second... would be good. C: I don't think so. No kids. Never. N: I had a beautiful wife and daughter, but they both died long ago. Now I'm searching for my grandson! S: Maybe... maybe not. 20. Do you have fangirls/fanboys? Z: I don't know. Maybe. [She’s just modest, she has some.] Y: I... have? C: Of course. N: If I have, that's cool. S: I don't need such admiration. 21. What are you most afraid of? Z: That something happens with my family or with those who I care about. Y: Having to fight those who I called my friends once. C: The Sun. Hiss. N: Bonding. S: That I hurt someone who’s not deserving. 22. What do you usually wear? Z: Light armor crafted by myself and a hood. Y: Heavy armor without helmet, or a helmet which doesn't cover my face. I need my foes to know who bested them. C: Light armor with dark tones, hood, sabatoons, veil or scarf and a mask to hide my teeth. N: Plain clothing. I was dressed in burlap clothing with bare feet before the Sparrows made it cool. No, I'm not a religious fanatic. Does it mean I'm a hipster? S: Blades armor with a Greybeard cloak, to shorten the cooldown of my Shouts when I kill dragons. 23. What's one food that tempts you? Z: Most kind of sweets. Y: Milk. C: Hehe. Blood, my dear. N: Elves ear. My favourite spice. S: Dried venison. 24. Am I annoying you? Z: No, these questions are interesting. I love to explore myself by thinking about stuff I usually don't. Y: Not really. C: I don't know yet. N: No. S: A bit. But I manage it. 25. Well, it's still not over! Z: Good! Y: Alright. C: Go on! N: Alright. S: Oh. 26. What class are you? Low class, middle class, high class. Z: Started as middle class, now high class. Y: High class from born. C: Low class to high class in two years. N: Middle class. S: Orcs are orcs, not classy people. 27. How many friends do you have? Z: I don’t like to count, but many. Some are close, the most not much. Kharjo, J’zargo, Brelyna, Aela, Farkas, Lucan, Belethor, Urag, Lydia, Sasha (mod) and my Housecarls. Oh and Paarthurnax. [Non canonically she likes Aronansa and Jenna Sajpa] Y: Who can be sure about that anymore? The Companions, especially after purging our beast blood together. C: Anum-La, The Swamp Knight [from the interesting NPC mod] N: Some people here or there, but I don’t make want to make new friends, I’m too old. S: A few. Why? 28. What are your thoughts on pie? Z: Delicious! Y: I hope it’s a meat pie. C: Bleh. N: I don’t mind one coming my way sometimes. S: Uh, they’re food? 29. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be? Z: Talos! Or my father. Y: My beautiful sister Hroda. C: My enemies, so I can flay them! N: My grandson, Mercer. You heard about him? S: Right now? 30. Favourite drink? Z: Red wine and clean water. Y: Milk! C: Fresh blood. N: Mead. S: Magicka potions. They are good for thirst. 31. What's your favourite place? Z: Hm. Skyrim, as a whole, but I like Heljarchen because that where we live now. Y: Dragonsreach is nice. C: Lakeview, my place. N: Solstheim volcanic side. S: The Reach. 32. Are you interested in anyone? Z: My husband, Balimund! Y: My wife, Zinnia [copy of Zinnia as a mod] C: Not now. N: Don’t tell him but I fancy Tolfdir. S: Not right now. 33. How tall are you?
The game gives the height of the character compared to the average. Different races and sexes have different base values. (e.g. Nord males are 1,03, while Khajiit women are 0,95) I headcanonned the average to be 175 cm (5’74). If you think the average Skyrim player character has a different height value, it modifies my calculation (also, sorry, my brain works in centimeters ))
Z: 175 cm (1) Y: 187 cm (1,071=1,04*1,03) C: 175 cm (1) N: 175 cm (1) S: I'm tall enough, thanks! [It’s a bit sensitive topic for her. She’s 164 cm (0,94=0,9x1,045)] 34. Would you rather swim in a lake or in an ocean? Z: A lake. Salty water is not my type. Y: Both are fine. C: I’d rather not, but if I need; the Ocean. N: How about neither? S: Swimming in heavy armor is not good idea. A brook, maybe? 35. What's your type? Z: Bulky nords with beard! Y: My wife. C: Zero negative, but I can eat any blood type. N: Um, people like Tolfdir? S: Someone who’s brave! 36. Any fetishes? Z: Why would I tell you? Y: No. C: I might have some but it’s none of your business. N: None. S: No.
37. Seme or uke?
[I googled what these mean and not going to answer, because my dragonborns don’t know about such things.] 38. Camping or indoors? Z: Indoors. Y: Both. C: Outside. Hunting. N: Indoors. S: Camping? Adventuring! 39. Are you still wanting this quiz to end? Z: I could do other things, yes. Y: It’s indifferent to me. C: Yes. N: If there’s more question, ask. S: Kind of. 40. Well, it's over! Now tag five people to do this.
*Inaudible mumbling, noises of chairs scratching the floor, bootsteps as they leave to their realities.*
[I’m not tagging, I was tagged more two years ago!]

Ilimar Daggen
Age: 9 Sweeps (19)
Gender: Trans Male
Height: 5'4 (162.6 cm)
Trollian Handle: bleedingBladed (BB)
Blood Caste: Purple
Blood Color: Magenta
Symbol: Caprira
Lusus: Fox (Water Vulpis)
Fetch Modus: Precision Stabbing
Strife Specibus: Knifekind
Classpect: Bard of Mind
Dreamer-Type: Prospit
World: Land of Dragons and Racists (Skyrim)
Sprite: Paarthurnaxsprite (dovahWisdom)
Distinguishing Features: Broken horn, Cracked horn, Clown Church greasepaint, Greaspainted scars
Ilimar Daggen is a mutantblood who will do anything to survive. He was lucky enough to have been found by a lusus sharing his magenta blood, and thus lucky enough to survive. As his lusus is from a purple-blooded race, it was presumed that he was a Purple Blood, and he was assigned the Caprira sign.
He fully embraces his role as a Purple Blood, and looked forward to the day he could call himself a Subjugglator, and, more specifically, a Laughsassin. He’s put in a lot of effort to conceal his mutation, even painting his scars the same white as his face. He uses his chucklevoodoos to disguise his eyes, and plans to switch over to making them look as purple as any normal adult troll of his caste once he hits 10 sweeps. He’s also very skilled at juggling, especially knives, and will juggle when he’s either bored or stressed.
He has no friends, rarely using his Trollian account to interact with others. He mostly keeps to himself, to minimize the chances of others discovering his mutant blood. His policy is that anyone who sees his blood must die before they can tell anyone else. Except, of course, people he trusts, such as his lusus and the White Queen. If someone manages to get close to him, to earn his trust, he will actually be quite affectionate towards them, especially with random cuddling.
Ilimar comes from a parallel universe to the canon Alternia’s. Everything follows the same path as normal Alternia, until the game begins. Same Signless Sufferer, same revolutionary Summoner, same Condesce. The difference is the Players. The Signless of this Alternia had memories from a completely different session and universe, with completely different Players from completely different bloodlines.
He was born as naturally as any troll can get. He was not an ecto-baby. However, he woke up on Prospit at a young age, proving that he was meant to be a Player, even if he wasn’t made to play. His status as a Prospit Dreamer allowed him glimpses of the future, which he used to cheat his way into the Session. He killed a troll that was supposedly meant to be a Player, one that was actually made with paradox slime, and stole his copy of the game. He then used two husktops to establish himself as his own server player, causing some serious glitches.
Upon entering the Medium, he found himself on the tallest mountain in the Land of Dragons and Racists. Also known as the Throat of the World in Skyrim. Thanks to him glitching out his session, his house was deposited right next to his Denizen, Paarthurnax. Not only that, but he had to deal with his planet having a complicated political environment, abilities that aren’t supposed to be available in Sgrub, advanced and diverse consorts, and powerful enemies beyond the imps and dersites.
Paarthurnax offered to prototype with his sprite, allowing him access to a powerful DenizenSprite. The creation of PaarthurnaxSprite further corrupted the game. While still salvageable, there are thousands of errors and glitches that have been brought about by his meddling, reaching far beyond his own Sessiom, such as the glitched wormholes.
Upon reaching his first gate, Ilimar was knocked unconscious, and forced to wait on Prospit for an update. He remained hidden, spying on the other Prospit Dreamers in his session. He woke up in a cart, tied up with a group of prisoners, with a hoofbeast that was clipping through the cart. His lusus helped him kill the guards, and he escaped.
He spent the next week wandering, trying to find the dovahkiin PaarthurnaxSprite informed him was necessary to reach his second gate. He stumbled onto a couple of children, Niu the baby vampire/khajit and a nameless baby dragon, who were quickly adopted into his pack at the behest of his lusus. A week after that, he was knocked into a glitch wormhole, which took him to another universe (Fallout). There, he met the dovahkiin he was searching for, a ghoul named Rosa. Now, he’s blindly wandering with his misfit group, hoping he doesn’t run into the other trolls in his session.
NPC Muses he comes with:
-Fox (Lusus/packmate)
-White Queen (adopted sorta-mom)
-PaarthurnaxSprite (sprite, Denizen, and momfriend)
-Niu (baby khajiit/vampire and packmate)
-Unnamed Dragon Friend (baby dragon and packmate)
-Rosa (fallout ghoul/dovahkiin, and packmate)
(Ilimar and pack are also still available for interactions at @ask-my-twisted-creations)

Skyrim/KH Crossover
-- idk if I’m imagining this as Skyrim being a ‘level’ in a KH game or a more realistic treatment in a novel-length fanfic (as in, a medium where enough attention can be paid to both the mechanics and lore of KH as well as Tamriel, bc just a ‘Skyrim level’ would leave out SO MUCH)
-- where would the keyhole of the Tamriel world/Mundus be? At the Monahven/Throat of the World, the tallest mountain on the continent? At the Temple of the One in the Imperial City, where Martin’s giant dragon body remains petrified? At the Red Mountain? At the White-Gold Tower? At any of the other towers holding up the sky? Would it be the Heart of Lorkhan itself??? So many possibilities. (If the Keyhole of Mundus is the Heart of Lorkhan, what happens when it is destroyed? Can the Keyhole of a world even be destroyed??? Maybe that’s what is allowing the Heartless in.)
-- we have a Heartless Crisis to match the Oblivion Crisis
-- everyone would assume Donald and Goofy are some sort of low-level daedra. Goofy might be a particularly ugly scamp. No one would blink at their existence and intelligence/speech capabilities, but they would be surprised at their lack of instant hostility. Everyone assumes Sora is a nasty conjurer despite his non-evil appearance and his friendliness. The Vigiliants of Stendarr attack him on sight for consorting with daedra
-- similarly, Sora wouldn’t blink at the existence of Khajiit (cat people of varying shapes and sizes) or Argonians (lizard people)
-- when Sora learns that the Dragonborn emperors/Septims kept Mundus safe from the planes of Oblivion with their very lives, he likens them to the Princesses of Heart.
-- THAT’S RIGHT. MARTIN SEPTIM NOW COUNTS AS A DISNEY PRINCESS. I DEMAND FANART OF THIS.
-- Kairi and Martin Septim discussing their Dragonborn Emperor/Princess of Heart duties and commiserating about how secretly terrifying they find it that the entire world is depending on them to keep the darkness at bay
-- Maleficent attempts to kidnap a Dragonborn for the plot of KH1, like why bother collecting seven princesses who collectively hold off the Realm of Darkness when you could just snag this one person and be done with it
-- the Dragonborn defeats her lackies without breaking a sweat; Maleficent shows up herself and goes All Scaled Up, thinking this will intimidate her target. The Dragonborn is like, “Hey, look, breakfast. Sweet.”
-- Sora has Maleficent flashbacks. When he learns that the Dragonborn has the soul of a dragon, he asks, “Can you turn into a dragon, too?” Dragonborn: “Sadly, no.”
-- DRAGONBONE KEYBLADE. DAEDRIC KEYBLADE. WHERE IS THE CONCEPT ART OF THIS. SOMEONE DRAW IT QUICK. The Dragonbone keyblade is super-hard to obtain (you probably have to befriend a dragon for this, either Odahviing or Durnehviir) but has the highest strength stat. The Daedric keyblade is evil-looking like Chaos Ripper or something with its black and red scheme and pointiness, but it has high strength and magic stats. You probably get it for entering a plane of Oblivion or running an errand for a Daedric Prince or something
-- Dragonbone axe and Daedric axe, upon which the keyblades would be based:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-- the Dark Brotherhood embrace darkness because of Sithis, of course. They might try to command the Heartless because of this, and maybe even succeed. Perhaps they involve the Heartless in their assassinations. Xehanort could possibly talk some of them into becoming potential Norts
-- the mages start testing spells on Heartless and Nobodies; Repel Undead and Detect Undead work on the Heartless, while Nobodies are sensed through the Detect Life spell. Lay down a Bane of the Undead spell and watch the Heartless die in shiny golden streams and sparkles. The Dawnguard is super-prepared to deal with the Heartless Crisis thanks to their offensive restoration spells. They’re less intelligent than vampires, after all, and once you’ve dealt with freaky vampire lords trying to kill the sun some other type of undead critter also trying to turn you into an undead critter is ho-hum
-- Sora is very enthusiastic about learning the Thu’um until he learns it takes years and years to master (unless you’re Dragonborn, of course). The Greybeards are like, “Why is this kid on our porch?” Sora could train in the Way of the Voice by Fus Ro Dah’ing some boxes. XD Paarthurnax recognizes Sora as a traveler from another world and is the one to actually explain what’s going on to him.
-- Dawnbreaker is super-effective against the Heartless; Meridia as a staunch opponent of undead in all forms launches a campaign against them. Skyrim doesn’t kill Heartless with sparkles; it kills them with GIANT FIERY EXPLOSIONS THAT SEND UNDEAD FLEEING WHILE ON FIRE
-- Arkay’s Law prevents the corpses of the dead from being used in necromantic rituals (Arkay being the god of death and burials); what effect would it have on Heartless and Nobodies? Maybe the blessing obtained at Arkay’s shrine temporarily prevents one’s heart from being torn out by Heartless?
-- is Alduin in league with the Heartless, or does he oppose them because HE’S supposed to be the World-Devourer, not these upstart scraps of darkness? lol imagine if Skyrim welcomed the dragons as their new overlords because the dragons protected them from the Heartless. Or vice versa
-- Sora getting tricked into using his Keyblade (which in Mundus can create portals to Oblivion and back) to let Miraak out of Apocrypha. An Apocrypha-themed Keyblade made out of green tentacles and ratty old books with a really high magic stat
-- A DWEMER KEYBLADE. Bc let’s face it the Dwemer would totally have been researching Kingdom Hearts and all related topics if it were available. This keyblade would be super cool. It’d look sort of like the battleaxe but with more teeth at the end for a more key-like appearance:
Tumblr media
-- Sora spots the Dwemer animunculi and freaks out because he assumes they’re all as boss as the Lingering Will (spoiler: not even a Dwemer Centurion is as badass as the Lingering Will)
-- at first glance, Sora assumes the Falmer are lesser Nobodies
----- OH MY GOSH NO WAIT THAT PERFECTLY EXPLAINS THE FALMER ACTUALLY. THEY WERE SNOW ELVES ONCE BUT THE DWEMER DID SOMETHING TO THEM THAT CHANGED THEIR VERY SOULS FROM SENTIENT TO NON-SENTIENT. THE DWEMER RIPPED OUT THE SNOW ELVES’ HEARTS AND ENSLAVED THE RESULTING NOBODIES, WHILE ALSO USING THEIR EXTRACTED HEARTS TO POWER THEIR ANIMUNCULI
Tumblr media
-- Sora running from bears
-- the Companions go on Heartless-slaying quests with the same nonchalance they go out to kill bears and saber-tooth cats
-- Dragon priests command Heartless alongside draugr; you’re innocently traveling through an ancient Nordic ruin when you spot not only glowing blue draugr eyes peering at you out of the darkness but also glowing yellow Heartless eyes
Tumblr media
(I just love that gif so much I’m sorry)
-- the Dragonborn as a super-awesome bonus party member. ALTERNATIVELY, Martin Septim serves as a spirit adviser. OR the Nerevarine returns from traveling in Akavir only to find the Heartless Crisis ongoing and ends up traveling with Sora and co. OR Sora is guided by the Aedra/Daedra of your choice
-- Paarthurnax is like the Yen Sid of Tamriel. They probably know each other (as they say in A:TLA, all old people know each other). Paarthurnax has probably met the time-traveling Xehanort before. Paarthurnax has seen a lot of things. He has yet to be fazed.
-- Dream Eater Riku has powers similar to a Vaermina priest. He can enter people’s memories/dreams and use them to travel distances in the real world without using Vaermina’s Torpor. The Vigilants of Stendarr ALSO attack him on sight when they see this.
-- Riku can enter the Soul Cairn without needed to be partially soul-trapped or turned into a vampire, because of his immunity to the darkness. The Ideal Masters are easy to deal with once you’ve had Xehanort sitting in your heart trying to Nortify your soul
-- Riku gains Arvak as a Dream Eater
-- Durnehviir can use the power of darkness because he has become accustomed to life in the Soul Cairn, just like Riku has been immersed in darkness so much it can no longer consume him. Imagine: Riku being able to summon Durnehviir. Riku defeating the Reaper and the Keepers.
-- where is Terra’s heart, you ask? The truth is now revealed: IN THE SOUL CAIRN
-- plot twist: Aqua is also in the Soul Cairn
-- actually, the Soul Cairn could be pretty accurately compared to the Realm of Darkness. Or maybe the Realm of Darkness is Oblivion itself instead of just one of its planes
-- if Alduin can swallow a world/end a kalpa, is this equivalent to a world falling into darkness? As the son/alternate personality/split being of one of the creator gods, can he also (help) remake the world? Is Alduin aligned with the darkness or the light? the world may never know
-- Alduin and/or Paarthurnax and/or Odahviing and/or Durnehviir against Xemnas’s weird dragon thing
-- Xehanort attempts to Nort the Dragonborn, only to find that numerous other dragon souls are ALREADY in the Dragonborn’s heart. The Dragonborn EATS dragon souls for breakfast. Remember that post about Xehanort actually reaching Sora’s heart only to find Ventus, Roxas, Xion, and Ansem already there? Yeah, except this time Xehanort enters a heart only to find a bunch of angry dragons staring down at him
-- OM NOM NOM XEHANORT DO NOT MEDDLE IN THE AFFAIRS OF DRAGONS FOR YOU ARE CRUNCHY AND GO WELL WITH KETCHUP
-- Xehanort’s time-traveling causes a Dragon Break, a.k.a. even Akatosh, the dragon god of time, doesn’t know what’s going on so he has to pause the game to look up the lore
-- Tamriel has two moons. Saix is now 2x stronger. Yikes.
-- Saix can finally be an actual werewolf
-- Saix chops off a Nort head and drags it to Ysgramor’s Tomb to materialize and fight the spirit of the Nort possessing him in order to de-Nortify himself
-- Saix in wolf armor. Saix with Shield-Siblings. Saix turned Isa who has green eyes once again and can finally say that he gave the one who scarred his face as good as he got
-- Xehanort is in league with the Glenmoril Witches
-- Vexen runs off to the College of Winterhold because the cold never bothered him anyway. Also, his wacky and slightly questionable but successful science experiments fit right in alongside Phinis ‘don’t worry if you die I’ll put your corpse to good use’ Gestor and ‘if you wanna buy highly dangerous magical artifacts I’m your man’ Enthir and Arniel ‘let’s recreate the events that led to the inexplicable disappearance of an entire race using said highly dangerous magical artifact’ Gane
-- Vexen is that annoying enemy mage who throws super-powerful frost spells at you and backs away faster than you can sprint
-- the Thalmor are 100% on board with letting the world fall to darkness since they want to destroy the world to gain immortality anyway. They’re probably researching how to command Heartless as we speak. Oh my gosh, PARANOIA FUEL: most of the Altmer Thalmor have gold eyes, anyway, so you’ll never be able to tell which ones have been Norted or not
-- Sora has to hunt down an Elder Scroll in order to find Mundus’s Keyhole. Of course, this involves Dwemer ruins. Or maybe planes of Oblivion.
-- Auriel’s Bow (untainted) kills Heartless and releases their captured hearts just like a Keyblade. It’s the weapon of the sun god/creator time god and incinerates undead; why wouldn’t it? It already sparkles like something out of Kingdom Hearts. Don’t believe me? Look at it:
Tumblr media
-- what if the Tamriel practice of soul-trapping is the same thing as extracting hearts? Soul gems are just like those glass capsules in Ansem’s lab that hold data hearts
-- Dragons cannot be soul-trapped and their souls can only be absorbed by another dragon, so... maybe they are immune to Heartless? THEIR HEARTS ARE INEDIBLE, lol.
-- Sora learns alchemy. He can now make his own potions and elixirs. The moogles’ economic monopoly has been broken.
-- Sora befriends various lesser Daedra and can call on them like his Dream Eaters. Sora learns how to summon atronachs. Sora captures Odahviing and gains his allegiance.
-- the gummi ship is fascinating to Tamriel scholars everywhere. They haven’t seen a working spaceship in centuries/millennia!

What are your favourite/most reccomended skyrim mods for someone who's only played vanilla?
Okay, so I went through my Nexus Mods Manager and Steam Workshop mods lists and picked out some of my favorites. (Note that some of them require SKSE.)
General:
ETA: Forgot to mention the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, which is honestly something worth having even if you don’t use mods, because there are a lot of broken quests and glitches even in the vanilla game and this makes it so you encounter less of that.
SkyUI - Takes a little while to get used to, but once I did, I definitely prefer it to the vanilla UI. Also adds a Mod Configuration Menu (MCM) that a lot of other mods use to toggle different options offered by those mods.
Sounds of Skyrim - There are three: The Wilds, Civilization, and The Dungeons. Adds a ton of new sound effects to the game and lets you toggle which ones you do/don’t want.
Climates of Tamriel - New weather patterns, sounds, lighting, etc.
Run For Your Lives and When Vampires Attack - If you’re tired of unarmored, unarmed NPCs rushing at incredibly lethal creatures and expecting good results.
Better Stealth AI for Followers - Because it’s really annoying when you’re trying to sneak and your follower is carrying a damn torch.
Mods for your convenience:
Detailed Mine Map Markers - Adds the type of ore that can be found in the mine in parenthesis after the mine’s name on the map. VERY convenient.
House Markers - Adds map markers to player homes that are available in the base game.
Return Home Teleport Spells - Adds spellbooks to each of the houses you can get in the main game, plus the Ragged Flagon and Archmage Quarters.
Teleportation Books and Teleportation Books (Dawnguard) - More teleportation spellbooks.
Lock Picking Chalk Marks - I wish I found this mod twelve playthroughs ago. It makes lockpicking a lot more tolerable.
Infinite Gold for Merchants - Gives each merchant 20,000 gold to barter with. Useful if you’re like me and like crafting and stealing and hoarding but then have trouble selling it all without having to travel to five different cities.
Lightweight Potions and Poisons - Adjusts potion/poison weight to 0.1 instead of 0.5 so you can carry more stuff.
Earring of Unburden Lite - Earring that significantly increases your carry weight. Thank god.
Bandolier Bags and Pouches - If you still need more carry weight (I know I do) and/or love accessorizing.
Stones of Barenziah Quest Markers - If you’ve ever done this quest, you know how useful this would be.
Jiub’s Opus Quest Markers - Why this wasn’t in the base game is beyond me.
Unread Books Glow - Adds a glow to any books you haven’t read yet (including skill books). Helpful especially if you like collecting things.
Enemies-related mods:
Extended Encounters - The original that I have installed has been taken off Nexus Mods, but apparently there’s a similar one here.
Even More Dragons! - Adds significantly more encounters with dragons - I love it, but it’s hell when you’re still at a low level, so be careful. There are two other versions - More Dragons! (more encounters than usual, but less than Even More Dragons!) and Most Dragons! (which… I tried this one first and it’s great if you feel like fighting four dragons at once outside of a major city and then having to resurrect like 20+ NPCs when the dust settles just so you’re not walking around in a ghost town, but if you just want to casually complete quests without constantly being on fire, I recommend downgrading to More Dragons or Even More Dragons, lmao).
Extra Encounters and Extra Encounters (Dawnguard) - In case you still aren’t satisfied with the sheer number of people, places, and things that want to kill you in Skyrim.
Diverse Dragons Collection - Adds 14 new types of dragons to the game, so while you’re constantly being harassed by dragons, at least you get some variety.
More Enemies - Adds new types of enemies to the game. (Beware the bridge trolls, they’re dicks.)
(This is getting long, so I’ll put the rest under a cut.)
Factions:
Moonlight Tales - Customizable werewolves. Offers different pelt and eye options; a wolfkin alliance option (i.e. if you’re a werewolf, wolves and other werewolves aren’t hostile); and options for involuntary lunar transformations, which adds a new dynamic to the game.
All Thieves Guild Jobs Concurrently - Lets you take one of each type of job from Vex and Delvin simultaneously, which means less trips to and from the Ragged Flagon.
Localized Thieves Guild Jobs - Lets you choose which Hold you want a job for, rather than having it be randomized. Which means less saving and reloading and cursing in order to get a job in that last Hold you haven’t taken over yet. (Not compatible with All Thieves Guild Jobs Concurrently. I’ve tried both and both are good, it just depends on your playstyle which you might prefer.)
Improved Vampirism - Requires Dawnguard.
Aesthetics™:
Enhanced Blood Textures - [chanting] more blood! more blood! more blood!
Pure Waters - Really improves the appearance of rivers, lakes, etc.
Book Covers Skyrim - Adds really nice unique covers to all the books in the vanilla game and DLC.
Lanterns of Skyrim - Adds lanterns along the roads all throughout Skyrim. They turn on automatically when it starts to get dark (iirc you can customize the timing in the MCM).
Shadowmarks - Adds Shadowmarks to player homes. Because the Guild Master lives here.
Skills/Crafting/etc.:
Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade - Exactly what it says on the tin. Also very customizable depending on your specific preferences (requires SkyUI for its MCM feature).
Wintermyst Enchantments - Adds 124 new unique enchantments to the game. FUN.
Smithing Redesigned - Redesign of the smithing skill tree.
Smelting Plus - Melt more stuff.
NPCs:
Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions - Lets you adopt up to 6 kids. You need to couple it with player home mods that allow for 6 kids (there’s a list of compatible mods in the mod description).
Khajiit Child Ma’isha - Adorable Khajiit daughter. Just recently, a dragon was attacking me and she ran over and started wailing on it with a dagger I gave her. I love her. (Supplement with this mod, which lets her wear actual child clothes. Because sometimes with mods that add non-human children, the clothes are glitchy bc the mod uses the adult models of those races that already exist in the game, just… make them smaller, lmao.)
Adopt Aventus Aretino - Because when he grows up he wants to be an assassin, just like you.
Lucy and Louis - Adoptable vampire children, because why the hell not.
Marriable Serana - Because why isn’t she romanceable already? (+ Hearthfire addon, to allow her to move into homes added by the Hearthfire DLC.)
Khajiit Black Market - Adds black market merchants to taverns across Skyrim. They sell useful stuff like spellbooks, all kinds of soul gems, rarer alchemy ingredients (e.g. nirnroot, daedra hearts), etc. - and, of course, skooma and moon sugar.
Kidmer - Adds a bunch of adoptable mer children to the game. Because it’s weird that only human children exist in Skyrim.
Beast Kids - Adds Argonian and Khajiit children to the game.
Adopt Beast Kids - More Argonian and Khajiit children, but adoptable.
Dominions More Khajiit - Just adds more Khajiit NPCs throughout Skyrim (and not just enemies - they’re NPCs with specific names and present in different factions, e.g. in the Companions and Dark Brotherhood).
Dovahbit of Caerbannog - Super cute immortal bunny follower that wears tiny helmets and carries all your stuff. Seriously.
Friendly Brynjolf - Makes it so he doesn’t keep blowing you off with the same one-liner after completing the main Thieves Guild questline. Also makes him marriable.
Quests:
The Paarthurnax Dilemma - Makes it so you can say “fuck off, I’m not killing the penitent dragon, he’s just minding his business on top of his mountain and talking at clouds” to the Blades and the quest won’t just indefinitely hang around in your quest journal forever because you refuse to kill Paarthurnax because who would want to do that. But also if you do want to kill Paarthurnax for some reason, this mod apparently adds dragons who will defend him from your treachery.
Wyrmstooth - This one adds a whole new region and questlines to the game, but it’s been taken off Nexus (it was the same author as Extended Encounters). I’m mentioning it bc it’s worth knowing about in case it ever gets put back up.
Falskaar - Adds a new region and questlines.
The Forgotten City - This one’s hard to explain so I’ll just say I highly recommend it and give you the description as provided by the mod creator: “a murder mystery investigation set in an ancient underground city. You’ll need to solve it using your wits, and the ability to travel through time. It has a dark, non-linear story in which you’ll interrogate suspects, explore the city and its many secrets, and navigate challenging moral dilemmas. It features multiple endings, an original orchestral score, and professionally voiced dialogue.”
Following Mercer: A Thieves Guild Quest - A short questline that takes place after the main Thieves Guilt questline. You kinda just follow clues to find Mercer’s hiding places for all the loot he stole, and also kick his now-ethereal ass a few more times.
Markarth Undercity - Really cool questline. In case you wanted to spend more time in Markarth, but underground this time.
New Markarth Adventures - Because hell is Markarth.
Helgen Reborn - I literally just installed this one for my newest playthrough so I don’t have much to say about it yet, but it looks interesting. Make sure you don’t have this one active until after you finish “Unbound” (the first quest in the game, where you escape from Helgen) because otherwise you get stuff like this.
Legacy of the Dragonborn - This is a HUGE mod. It adds a museum in Solitude for you to put all of your collectibles (including collectibles from several player-created mods that are either packaged with it or compatible with it), as well as its own questlines.
Moonpath to Elsweyr - Adds a new questline that lets you travel to Elsweyr. Can be a bit glitchy, though - like, in some of my previous playthroughs, it would make all sabre cats in the game invisible, lmao. It’s packaged with Legacy of the Dragonborn if you decide to use that one, and I don’t have the invisible-sabre-cat problem anymore ever since uninstalling the standalone Moonpath to Elsweyr and just using Legacy of the Dragonborn, so ymmv.
Missing Apprentices - This just fixes the unfinished Missing Apprentices quest in the vanilla game.
Armor/weapons/items:
Immersive Armors and Immersive Weapons - Both add a ton of new armor and weapons to the game.
PrivateEye’s Heavy Armory - Adds a ton of new weapons and variety to the game.
More Interesting Loot - What it says on the tin.
LC_Immersive Looting - More loot items, like above.
EK Ring Limiter - Toggle how many rings you want your character to be able to wear at once.
Cloaks of Skyrim - Cloaks! Cloaks everywhere!
Amulets of Skyrim - Now with more amulets!
Konahrik’s Accoutrements - Dragon Priest Armory - This is another one I just added and I’m not far enough along in my playthrough to be able to see any of the content yet, but supposedly it’s pretty good.
The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal - If you’re in for some Oblivion nostalgia.
Skyrim’s Unique Treasures - If you’re the collecting type.
Improved Closefaced Helmets - Better meshes for the closed-face headgear in the game.
Skill Book Overhaul - Adds more skill books to the game. I just added this one yesterday but so far I like it.
Royal Armory - Just added this one yesterday, too. Adds some unique weapons for certain prominent characters.
Unique Weapons Redone - Gives unique weapons actual unique appearances, rather than just looking like common weapons with added enchantments.
Recurve Longbows, Recurve Longbows - Dawnguard, Recurve Longbows - Dragonborn - Add longbows to the game. They do more damage and have a longer range, but the pullback time is longer, so it’s a nice balance. There’s also a really cool longbow you can get once you unlock the Dragonrend shout - it’s basically a longbow with an enchantment that has the same effect as the Dragonrend shout, and it’s great (especially if you have one of those More Dragons mods installed).
Diamond Smithing Collection - A series of mods for craftable gemstone weapons and armor.
Light Armor Hoods - Craftable hoods.
Thieves and Assassins - A Better Rewards and Treasure Mod - Makes it so the loot you find will be more oriented toward thief and assassin characters (light armor, daggers, bows, etc.). Nice if you’re like me and usually play the exact same type of character and have little use for heavy armor or two-handed weapons.
Player homes:
Elysium Estate - My favorite player home mod so far. It’s gorgeous and detailed, has toggle-able displays for unique items (Thieves Guild quest items, dragon claws, dragon priest masks, Daedric artifacts, etc.), a guest house for followers outside, planters outside for planting your own garden, tons of storage for specific items, a lot of bookshelves, a bunch of crafting stations in the basement (Skyforge/smelter/grindstone/workbench, alchemy and enchanting tables), its own cow and goat and chickens (they have names any everything and they’re coded as necessary NPCs, so you don’t have to worry about the constantly-spawning dragon in that area killing them). There’s a cute little backstory (it belonged to a gardener who worshiped Kynareth and is passing it on to the next worthy person) but there’s no quest to get it, you just have to read a note on the front door and find the key, so you can basically access it in the very beginning of the game. It’s also compatible with Hearthfire multiple adoptions, so there’s an option for six children’s beds.
Breezehome FullyUpgradable - This is my second-favorite player home mod, and it was my go-to before I found Elysium Estate. It adds a lot more storage, displays, etc., but my favorite thing about it was that it added a basement area with a library, a secret entrance accessible from a cave outside Whiterun, and crafting stations with autochests. Basically, when you access a specific storage container (smithing chest, alchemy ingredient bag, etc.) it automatically scans your inventory and gives you an option to automatically empty all applicable items into that container, rather than having to go through and put away each item yourself. It’s also hooked up to the crafting stations - so if you activate the forge/workbench/grindstone, it automatically adds everything from the smithing chest to your inventory, and then automatically puts it all back when you’re done. It’s pretty convenient.
Khajiit-related mods:
I basically always play a Khajiit, so I have a lot of mods specific to beast races.
Amazing Race Tweaks - Khajiit - Different passive race abilities for Khajiit. I also have this supplemental mod installed to cancel out the jumping bonus - jumping very high is fun but it takes twice as long to come back down and that was annoying for my impatient ass. (Amazing Race is a series btw, there are versions for other races besides Khajiit.) Also check out Passive Race Abilities.
Khajiit Speak - Complete Dialogue Overhaul - Makes playing as a Khajiit a LOT more immersive. It changes your dialogue choices to match the dialect of the rest of the Khajiit in the game (e.g. use of the third-person rather than the first-person), and also adds Khajiit-specific bits of lore (e.g. using the Khajiit names for the various gods). Also, lots of sarcasm - it’s pretty great.
Khajiit Ears Show - Headgear doesn’t hide the kitty ears. This is a TES5Edit script so it requires you to use that. I honestly have no clue what I’m doing with TES5Edit but I followed the instructions in the mod description and somehow got it to work, so…
Coverkhajiits - More high res textures for Khajiit.
Digitigrade Beast Races - Gives Khajiit proper paws for feet. Also gives Argonians raptor feet. Compatible with the armor in the main game and DLC, but not always compatible with new armor from other mods.
Better Claws and Gauntlets - Actually see the claws on Argonians and Khajiit. Like above, not always compatible with armor added by other mods. And if you’re not wearing gauntlets, the claws usually don’t show.
Dawnguard Glowing Vampire Eye Fix - Lets Orc, Argonian, and Khajiit vampires have glowy vampire eyes.
Beast Skeletons - Adds Mer, Khajiit, and Argonian skulls and skeletons. Because it gets boring seeing only human skeletons everywhere. (It’s mostly lore-friendly, so you won’t come across a bunch of nonhuman skeletons in the ancient Nord burial sites or anything like that.)
