* 𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐠𝐨𝐬 here and do i have the tea for you . theo is back in bridgehampton for the summer , living off the richards’ family $758 million net worth . must be nice to come back home to the hamptons , i wonder what his fellow class of 2017 grads think of his return . you know , he was known around town as the conciliatory and for bhs senior superlatives he was crowned as most likely to become a motivational speaker . i wonder if that still holds true today , a lot can change when you go off to the university of california — los angeles and study political science & international relations . either way , i bet he is still very venturesome , debonair , heedless and boisterous . hopefully this time next year the plans to get a master’s degree & get accepted into the pathways internship program come true . in the meantime , i look forward to seeing him blast 3005 - childish gambino at every hamptons function . it’s going to be a wild summer home , welcome back . . * › background .
— born to jacob & marissa richards , the former a composer & the latter to become a u.s. ambassador , theo was the product of a love story for the ages . originally marissa cardiff , his mother was born into a wealthy and politically tied family . the high-status claim that theo is so accustomed to originated here , privileged having been an understatement . so when she'd fallen in love with an aspiring musician & composer , her family was far from happy . her & jacob hardly cared , believing that they could live a happy life without the wealth and support of the cardiff name .
— insert theo , the pride & joy of their marriage & for a while .. the glue keeping them together . co-parenting was the first of many faults for the older richards , disagreeing on matters constantly & beginning to struggle financially without the support of marissa's parents . for the lifestyle his mother wanted him to have , primed & proper with the best brands to his name , she realized she hadn't set him up for success in this way . the household began to erupt in constant fighting , a battle that a toddler was painstakingly unaware of . jacob's anger issues were becoming more & more prominent , continuing on until marissa eventually deemed her current situation no longer ideal for herself nor for theo . she'd gathered their belongings in the middle of the night & vanished without a trace , knowing that the cardiff name & the power attached to it would be enough to protect them both from any repercussions .
— of course , theo's grandparents welcomed them into their home with open arms . they were simply thankful that their daughter was finished chasing what they saw to be a wild fantasy , a romeo & juliet plot destined for failure from the beginning . from then on , they both lived at the cardiff estate . theo , shoved into a private school uniform & sent to become exposed to a world of money & power , his mother rising in the ranks to eventually earn her spot as a successful u.s. ambassador for the country .
— theo was primed and polished to follow in his mother’s footsteps in politics , the expectations in his life having been clear from a very young age . follow the sought-after path of the his family , or suffer the consequences . his grandparents , though loving , pushed obligations onto their grandson to make a name for himself . they ensured that his father was kept out of his life , battling & paying him off until he had eventually stopped trying to reconnect with his son . they told him not to make the same mistake as his mother , bolstered him on a path to becoming notorious in the field of politics . this came with immense pressures , especially with his own mother's absence due to work ( among other things ) & wholly believing that there was no other path that he was fitted to pursue .
— however , it wasn’t as if his path of politics was unwilling in any way , his participation in various policy projects throughout high school & extra-circulars such as model un had piqued theo's interests in a different area –– politics . as with most things , he’s motivated by doing what he can to please & earn the affection of the people around him . with that being said , working in politics would allow him to accomplish that goal . as incentivized as he is by the notion of making a direct difference on the people around him & his country , with such a line of work comes great pressure .
— while theo was completing school & living with his grandparents , his mother was either away for work or entertaining the likes of what theo had come to know as many different men . following her failed marriage , she became a serial dater of only the most elite & wealthiest that bridgehampton had to offer . eventually , she settled down once again .. but only after theo had grown up for practically his whole life disapproving of the men she was with . his step-father & step-sister joined their family in theo's early high school years , & the four of them packed up & moved from the cardiff estate to a mansion of their own .
— moving across the country to attend school at ucla absolutely changed his life . being exposed to a whole new sea of people did wonders for the boy’s social life , & being away from the pressures of his family made theo feel like he could finally breathe for once . he’s coming back to bridgehampton with loads of new memories & stories to share . still , something about high school resonates with him — he holds the connections he made there closer to his heart , & there was no denying his excitement when it came time to return home . he still holds out hope that maybe one day he’ll be reunited with his dad , but he seemed to have vanished off the planet .
. * › personality .
— the need to fight for attention & acknowledgement from his own family remained strong . from this , a desire to be liked above all quickly emerged . displaying an agreeable personality has always been theo's way of life — partially because the extrovert within him prefers it , but also because of the male's constant seeking of approval from those around him . theo struggles to always be the guy that everyone expects him to be & never stumble or make a public mistake .
— high school was certainly a whirlwind for theo . he was one of those individuals that knew practically EVERYONE , & he exerted effort to make himself particularly likeable to all . he was rarely home , either hitting after-school spots with friends or attending parties whenever they were thrown . he was also involved in various clubs , teams & associations , taking any opportunity to meet people . undoubtedly , he managed to receive quite a bit of romantic attention in high school too , & i would have expected him to date during those years .
— paired with his sociability is a certain level of carelessness that tends to get him in trouble . when he's out of the watchful eye of those around him , he is more than likely to conjure up a few schemes despite the risk . he'll jump at any opportunity to follow someone into complete darkness , i really don't know how i produced such an idiot . but , to touch on another side to him –– the hopeless romantic energy is strong in this one . he falls hard & fast , is loyal to a fault & is absolutely a relationship type of guy — even if he’s had his fair share of hookups in high school & at ucla . always being surrounded by people has caused theo to develop a fear of being alone , the root cause behind his attachments to others regardless of the relationship .
— it’s not always easy maintaining his composure . there are many days where theo naturally exudes his personality , genuinely enjoying the company of others & wanting to earn approval from the people he cares about . other times , it proves to be more difficult .. particularly when it comes to controlling his anger & other impulses that can arise when he’s rubbed the wrong way . though his mother & grandparents influence most aspects of his life , his temper is one thing that he inherited from his father . sometimes the thought of bringing dishonour to his family or the repercussions he could face as a result of his actions are enough to settle his irrationality , but every once in a while he loses control . i wouldn't put it past him to have gotten in physical fights or developed some enemies along the way , & his temper could easily lead him to end up in a sticky situation .
— when theo is alone & quiet strikes him , he has a tendency to become buried in the worries & pressures that could very well consume him at any moment . the less he’s by himself , the less he has to think about the future or his fears .. like the possibility of ending up alone . he’ll take any opportunity to be surrounded by people , receiving the social interaction he craves & keeping his mind off of the more negative aspects in his life . if that isn’t an option , theo will turn to spotify or his guitar instead — he’s always played & has found music to help him drown out what he otherwise considers to be the deafening silence that welcomes his deepest & darkest thoughts . once he’s had a night out with those closest to him or he takes time to indulge in his music , he finds it much easier to keep up the demeanour that is always expected of him .
— despite his distaste towards his mother's marriage , the male is rather protective over his step-sister & others that he considers himself closest to . fierce loyalty & protectiveness mixed with his anger are sometimes a recipe for disaster , so i’d watch out for that one .
. * › headcanons .
— aesthetics : blasting music while driving around the city at 3am , setting 5+ alarms and ignoring them all , leather jackets , sneaking out , empty beer bottles , profanity , ray bans , parties , holes in walls , restless nights , takeaway coffee cups .
. * › connections .
if you managed to make it through my rambling mess , i have to thank you . now we get onto the good stuff , huh ? i'm just going to list some of my most wanted connections , but i also love plotting based off chem so you can fully expect me to want to learn everything about your muse in order to do so . without further ado .. here we go !
ex(es) : like i said , theo falls hard & fast & definitely exudes simp energy sometimes . i could see him having dated quite a bit , & i’d be open to ex connections that ended on good terms .. bad terms .. anything at all .
fwb(s) : could be past or present , i mean ? a man has needs DSKJSDNJKSD your muse or him could’ve caught feels which caused them to end it , it could’ve been because he attends school all the way in cali , maybe it’s a new thing now that he’s back in bridgehampton . just gimme ..
bro(s) : theo is honestly SUCH a bro . give me his best guy friends from guy school who he always hung out with .. give me them treating each other’s houses like their own , all the late night shenanigans but the occasional emo talk when things get deep . the more bros the merrier , maybe even a guy squad ?
idk i’m so bad at these , just give me chem based things thanks !

on astoria and lorenzo —
Lorenzo is only present for Astoria’s Dragon Age verse, and any fantasy crossovers or AUs, for now; I hope to change this soon, and to write him into her modern verses as well, albeit with a less intense relationship.
HOUSE VESCOVI. Lorenzo belongs to House Vescovi, the house of Crows under the patronage of the merchant prince of Seleny. House Vescovi has been with the Grimanis since they first took up the mantle of merchant prince. Under the reign of Orsino Grimani — a staunch abolitionist, the first of the Grimani to propose giving elves a voice in the Signoria — the Crows’ practice of buying children from brothels or slave markets to train was brought to a halt in Seleny, and House Vescovi’s recruitment practices were forced to undergo major changes. House Vescovi instead began to take in orphaned children who had been arrested for theft or violence, and turned them over to the City Guard for education. Those who chose to do so remained with the Guard, if they showed promise, but a select few left the Guard to train with the Crows, where they began their real training in assassination.
Within House Vescovi, a handful of elites are assigned to guard the Grimani family, with the merchant prince and his heir being given specific guards who remain with them at all times and who answer exclusively to their charge. Typically, an heir is only given a personal guard as an adult, but with the increase in hostilities from the Treviso Salviatis, guards are assigned to younger and younger heirs.
Astoria is one of the youngest when, at nine years old, she is introduced to Lorenzo Vescovi, ten years her senior, and told that he will be her guard.
PRIOR TO JOINING THE CROWS. Lorenzo’s exact date of birth is unknown. He bears a close resemblance to an aristocratic merchant family, one of the daughters of whom vanished suspiciously for about a year to “serve the Chantry.” He estimates that he was born in the winer of 8:98 Blessed. Around the age of eight or nine, he was arrested for theft, and was visited shortly after by Alessandro Grimani, the merchant prince of Seleny, and was offered the chance to be trained to join the City Guard. He would be given safety and security — steady food and shelter, access to healers when necessary, access to the Chantry — and, if he showed promise, he would be allowed to remain with the Guard as an adult.
He was present for the birth of the princess in 9:08 Dragon, on the first of Solace. He even caught a glimpse of her a few weeks later as she was brought to the Chantry for the first time — he thought she was loud, and that she, like most babies, was a bit overrated.
Lorenzo did, in fact, show great promise, and at fourteen he was invited to begin training as a Crow. It was brutal work, but he had a knack for it — silent, swift, and clever, he excelled, though in terms of his physical prowess, he was no more impressive than the other recent recruits. Where he thrived, however, was when he was visible: he could talk his way out of anything, and never left a job unfinished. In 9:17, Alessandro Grimani visits him again, this time with an offer of advancement — and Lorenzo becomes the personal guard to Princess Astoria Grimani, heir to Seleny.
RELATIONSHIP WITH ASTORIA. Lorenzo expects to remain unimpressed with his charge — she is wealthy, and spoiled, and has little understanding of real hardship. He is shocked, then, when he finds a little girl with overpowering ambition: she is eager to learn, and is not prone to wallowing in her disappointment when she fails. Instead, she dusts herself off and works harder. Most surprisingly, the little princess shows Lorenzo a surprising amount of deference, following his instruction even when she is inclined not to, and Lorenzo quickly grows fond of her.
Their relationship is a powerful one, despite the warnings he is given to remember his place, and the reminders she receives not to become too attached. Within the first year, Astoria has taken to referring to Lorenzo as her brother in private ( the first time he teases and calls her ‘little sister’ she is overjoyed ), and within the next, she asks Lorenzo to begin training her in basic combat and self-defense. Once he’s received her grandfather’s permission, he begins educating her, determined that she will be able to keep herself alive should anything happen to him.
When the Carrows arrive in the summer of 9:22, Lorenzo is the first, and only, member of the household to suspect them, and when he is instructed to give them privacy during Astoria’s lessons, he obeys with some reluctance. He reports, repeatedly, that Astoria seems changed — withdrawn, frightened, and barely sleeping — and is told that this is the result of her grief at her grandmother’s death. In private, Astoria still says little, but when Lorenzo offers to increase her training, she readily accepts.
After Astoria’s alleged attack in the city in Spring 9:24, Lorenzo accompanies the family to their vineyard in Firenze. He notices the changes in her behavior, the almost sloppy way that she covers her steps, and he begins to trail her and the Carrows. When he sees Amycus Carrow raise a hand to Astoria, he very quickly kills him, collecting a bloodied Astoria and bringing her to safety. This is the first time since his assignment that he and Astoria are separated for any period of time: once he is sure that she’s safe, and under the watchful eye of the head of House Vescovi, Lorenzo leaves Seleny to track Alecto down and kill her, returning only when he is successful. When Astoria asks to go to Orlais to attend the university there, Lorenzo readily agrees to go with her, and the two are rarely, if ever, apart in the first year after their reunion.
ORLAIS, FERELDEN, AND SELENY. While Astoria is at university, she thrives — and Lorenzo, relieved to see her acting more and more like the girl he knew, begins to relax. As she begins her training as a bard under Isabeau de Savrenne, Lorenzo, now about twenty-seven, begins to build a life of his own and finds himself fallen in love for the first time. Her name is Melisande, and she is one of the elven handmaidens of an Orlesian noble lady; once told that their flirtation has become a relationship, Astoria begins covering for Lorenzo and Melisande and even promising to secure employment for Melisande should she be able to leave her lady. After a holiday in the Storm Coast, where Astoria visits her father and half-sister, Lorenzo returns to find that Melisande has been reassigned to the nobles’ estate and will not be returning to the University. Attempts by both Lorenzo and Astoria to contact her are fruitless. Though Lorenzo takes a few lovers after that, his dalliances remain casual.
In 9:30, as he, Astoria, and Astoria’s mother Veronica travel through Ferelden before returning to Seleny, Lorenzo and Veronica are trapped in Redcliffe Castle as the dead rise. Astoria, with the help of the Warden, is able to rescue them — Lorenzo teases his “little sister” as having grown up, but is shocked when she asks him to return to Seleny to ensure her mother’s safety as she remains in Ferelden to battle the Blight. Only his knowledge that she’s been well-trained, and her promise to return safely, prompts his agreement. Immediately after bringing Veronica back to Seleny, he turns right back around to head to Ferelden again, returning just in time for the final battle, which he fights at Astoria’s side.
Lorenzo remains in Ferelden with Astoria, as she relocates to the Storm Coast for a few years to stay with her family there, and returns to Seleny with her when Alessandro falls ill. As Astoria takes on more and more of the responsibilities of merchant princess, to lessen her grandfather’s burden, Lorenzo takes on more as well, first as temporary Master of Spies, and later as Astoria’s right hand. Elevated beyond any previous Crow or guard under the Grimani family, Lorenzo is attacked in an attempt on his life, orchestrated by the head of his own House. When the head of House Vescovi’s treachery is discovered and he is arrested, Astoria executes him personally, and makes her first major change as Merchant Princess: the head of House Vescovi, hand-selected by Lorenzo and herself, is made second-in-command to Lorenzo, now officially made her Master of Spies. When she is invited to the Conclave, Lorenzo accompanies her, and is kept from her side in the explosion’s aftermath only by being imprisoned himself.
THE INQUISITION. As they settle into a pattern, first at Haven and later at Skyhold, Lorenzo and Astoria remain close. While Cassandra and Leliana remain as the official Right and Left Hand of the Inquisition, Astoria brings all decisions to Lorenzo, and installs him among her advisors. If she is brought away from Skyhold, she leaves the Inquisition in Lorenzo’s hands, trusting him above all else.
While the Inquisition is based in Haven, however, Astoria keeps Lorenzo with her wherever she goes — including their first visit to Val Royeaux. There, Lorenzo is reunited with Melisande, now a widowed mother and still in the service of the same aristocrat — Astoria, pleased with the opportunity to matchmake, invites Melisande, her child, and her employer to Skyhold, and when Melisande’s employer jumps at the opportunity to build a relationship with the Inquisition, Lorenzo and Melisande are given the chance to reconnect.
About three months after Corypheus is killed, Lorenzo and Melisande are married — in blatant disregard of the Chantry’s prohibition on marriage between humans and elves, and by the Inquisitor herself.

Melitta was born without a father. Her mom, Melanie raised Melitta by herself with almost nothing to begin with. Melitta witnessed how difficult life was at an early age. Despite this, her mom remained resilient and tough. Melanie made ends meet and even beyond to give Melitta the life she deserves the best way she could. Her efforts were fruitful nonetheless because Melitta never failed to make her achievements and recognition; from being a straight A student in elementary, to being her high school valedictorian, Melitta now graduated Arts History with honors from Britechester.
Melitta was a diligent and wise young girl. When she was in elementary, she helped her mother around their rental rooms and maintained their old mansion. During high school, her mother got married for the first time with a general physician, Dr. Evan Murphy. She, her mother and her father successfully blossomed a rose garden business at their backyard which kept money flowing into their savings, securing their finances to stop renting rooms in their inherited manor. As their income became more stable in the business, Evan and Melanie decided to a have a child, introducing Brenda to their family. At this point, Melitta could obviously realize the trend her life had been. Her and her mother’s efforts reeled them out of the deeps to enjoy air outside of the waters. Being up into the shore showed Melitta a great deal of possibilities she could explore for herself; love, education, passion and aspirations. Relieving her of the pressures underwater, it was easier to meet new people and spot interests out in the open.
Max Villareal was Melitta’s first boyfriend. Somehow, one way or another, the prized child and pupil, Melitta, caught Max’s eyes at senior prom. They were members and parts of different high school cliques and worlds, and so meeting each other that night was unprecedented. He was a renegade and somehow managed to graduate high school on time despite his poor grades. Weirdly enough, Melitta and Max connected deeply; realizing that they both had difficult childhoods being raised by a single parent. Max was also Melitta’s first kiss, something she could have reserved for someone better “if only she knew well” as her mother wanted to phrase it. Max may have been the first person Melitta connected with at that level, but it wasn’t enough of a foundation to spark a meaningful relationship beyond.
At the first week of college, she met Ferdinand Nixon, the student-assistant librarian at Britechester. He had primly styled black hair and dashing blue eyes complemented by his pressed blazer and a pair of round glasses. She tried to brush off the attraction because she was still in a relationship with Max at that time. She was still hopeful to make it work with Max so they would go out together, spend time to reconnect every once in a while. Despite her efforts, Max seemed to be disinterested himself at their pace. She figured that maybe Max was looking for something more than what she could offer, and Max did not deny the mutual feeling. However, what astounded Max was Melitta’s confession that another man piqued her interest when she started college. It wasn’t like Melitta’s character but guilt faulted her for their breakup.
The next day, Melitta walked up to the library to meet Ferdinand and profess her feelings once and for all. She did not breakup with Max just for naught. She asked him for coffee nervously but bravely. Although Ferdinand was hesitant at first, he appreciated Melitta’s gesture so he accepted her invitation. Their coffee date went great. Melitta learned that Ferdinand came from a well-off family, but he loved books so much that he still helped out in the library as a working scholar. He had various interests which included history, psychology and philosophy, a fresh air from what Melitta thought could only interest a guy. In high school, attractive guys played sports and even cheerleaders, a hobby Melitta did not appreciate, but Ferdinand, he was handsome and he was smart.
By then, Melitta and Ferdinand continued to see each other after their last class almost everyday. They’d meet at the college coffee shop and talk about the topics they discussed in class. It wasn’t long until their exchange became more personal, more romantic and endearing. After Melitta’s second year in college, more than a year of seeing each other, Ferdinand proposed they make it official to be a couple. He was her second boyfriend, but it all felt like a brand new excitement over love.
That was only half of what Melitta had in college. At the beginning of her college journey, Melitta stayed in a rental house with Rachel Berry, a high school friend she met at glee club, and apparently, Max’s adopted sister. Melitta did not know about her association with Max so it was a surprise for Melitta to know about it at that point. After all, Melitta and Rachel had been friends for a year at that time. Anyway, Rachel was different from his brother, Max. She was rather cheerful and cheeky which always lit up their days in the university. Rachel would sing, dance and perform numbers from musicals she loved. Rachel became a dear friend to Melitta. She always knew how to be happy at any point. Melitta revered that so it was a tragedy to tell that Rachel took her own life one morning in their apartment. Rachel’s breakup with her long time boyfriend was too tough for her to handle. Melitta did not know the entire story and only even knew about it from Lucas at the funeral, but she knew it weighed heavily on her friend.
She believed that Rachel had so much potential. Despite having an abusive family that ruined her childhood, Rachel pulled herself from her roots and planted her identity to where she belonged. Melitta had high respect for that, as much as Rachel’s older brother, Hugo, who was the only nice person to her as grew up.
After Rachel’s funeral, Melitta was then alone in their apartment. Her sister, Brenda, came to stay with her until she graduated but Ferdinand would often visit her and keep her company as well. He was caring and sensitive, qualities Melitta felt she could thrive in. After their last class, Ferdinand would still bring her favorite coffee order and have their usual afternoons in the apartment instead. Sometimes, he would sleepover to make sure Melitta and her sister would be safe through the night. Through her successful terms in college, to the death of her friend, Ferdinand did not leave her side. More so, Ferdinand stayed longer, established his role in her life, and proved to be the best man for her. Ferdinand stopped working as a librarian to give more time for her and to be more available when she needs him. Love and support were readily available for her, so she thought maybe if Rachel had the same kind of family and friends, Rachel would’ve stayed longer. Melitta wanted to believe that.
At the end of her last term in college, Melitta and Ferdinand got engaged. He proposed on New Year’s Eve when all of the Murphys celebrated the holidays in the apartment. That night, Ferdinand courageously took a leap of faith to ask for a promise of marriage when the right time comes. The sound of a vow to always have someone by your side for the rest of her life gave her a sense of security and endearment. She felt it was all too fast, but one nudge from her mother who trusted her decisions, was all it took to validate her choice to say yes. It was a new year for everyone, but an entirely new road for Melitta.
Weeks after, Melitta was able to graduate with honors from Britechester University with a degree on Art History. As encouraged by her fiance, she ventures to be a professor in the university after she finishes her graduate studies. Melitta felt fulfilled at the middle of the road wider as it had been before for her and her mother. At the end of college, Melitta had space to make a name for herself in the academe, prepare herself for marriage, gear up to be an educator and be the outstanding daughter to her mother and father.
Melitta swam against the current with her mother as she grew up. The deeps were dark and simply just void, no light to shine through, yet her mother never gave up on her. She swam for the both of them when she needed to, and they swam side by side as they could. Her mother believed that Melitta should have a chance to see possibilities she could make happen because her mother believed in her potential at an early age and Melanie believed right. Out on the shore, to the busy streets of the city, Melitta found herself surrounded by opportunities and choices to integrate with her life. At that point, Melitta connected roads to walk through, high ways to cross, and established a place she could call home. Life wasn’t all about maintaining an old manor hat provided meals one day at a time, as if stuck in an endless loop for the mother-daughter tandem. The two of them dreamed what would it feel like to take a ray of sunshine on their skin, and so it happened. Melitta got to live a life differently from how her mother started a family with. It would also be different for the child she would have. Melitta felt fulfilled then, more so was her mother. Melanie’s first planted rose surely bloomed the most vibrant of all.

Meadowlark by Melanie Abrams, Pages: 238, Publication Date: 1 May 2020
Synopsis: A haunting novel about the lasting effects of childhood trauma and the resulting choices we make for our children.
After growing up in an austere spiritual compound, two teenagers, Simrin and Arjun, escape and go their separate ways. Years later, Simrin receives an email from Arjun. As they reconnect, Simrin learns that he has become the charismatic leader of Meadowlark, a commune in the Nevada desert that allows children to discover their “gifts.”
In spite of their fractured relationship, Simrin, a photojournalist, agrees to visit Meadowlark to document its story. She arrives at the commune with her five-year-old daughter in tow and soon realizes there is something disturbing about Arjun’s beliefs concerning children and their unusual abilities. When she discovers that the commune is in the midst of a criminal investigation, her unease grows deeper still.
As tensions with police heighten, Arjun’s wife begins to make plans of her own, fearing the exposure the investigation might bring for her and her children. Both mothers find themselves caught in a desperate situation, and as the conflict escalates, everyone involved must make painful—and potentially tragic—choices that could change their worlds forever.
Gripping and beautifully crafted, Meadowlark explores the power and danger of being extraordinary and what it means to see and be seen.

IHYV Master List
=====
one. It is five years later when Judge Seo Do-Yeon accepts a position back in Seoul as the head judge in her old district. She goes into her old house and stares at the wall she painted six years ago and is at peace. She doesn’t take it down.
She never remarries even though she goes on a few dates, they never really amount to anything. She is whole and complete in and of herself. She is more with her daughter and that is all she needs. She is close to Hye-Sung and Soo-Ha for the rest of her life.
Eventually, she is appointed to the supreme court, her terms renewed all the way until she has to mandatory retire at seventy. She works to make it easier for victims of human trafficking and prostitution to use law enforcement to seek help from their situation while strengthening the laws against those soliciting prostitution. She makes sure Cha Kwan-Woo’s death was not in vain and that there are no more Flowers seeking freedom through the death of others.
She makes sure there is not another King and his Florist.
Cha Yeon-Jae goes to sleep every night listening to her father’s simple lullabies. She has the table of contents on her videos memorized and feels closer to her father than some of her friends. She and Park Kwan-Woo are close friends. She knows he has a crush on her but she doesn’t return his feelings until they are in their late twenties.
They live together during college and law school. She becomes a public defense attorney, excitedly mentored by her favorite aunt. She doesn’t think anything of Park Kwan-Woo’s girlfriends and a few boyfriends until she realizes she might actually lose her best friend to another person.
She confesses her fears to him and asks him to date her with the intention of marriage. He dumps his boyfriend the next day. They date for six months before they get married.
two. Park Mi-Yung is elected mayor of her island by a landslide. She and Lee Dae-Jung never get married but stay together through four mayoral races, a fight for their district’s assembly position, which she wins twice. She is offered a chance to run for prime minister and she takes it.
Her history as a Flower is discovered by her opposition, causing several major donors to withdraw support. She addresses it candidly and with grace, Dae-Jung at her side the entire time. She never meets his parents and they are left alone. It is a long run, but she is elected and serves her full term as prime minister.
It is later regarded as a golden era, with a booming economy, low crime, and fortified social programs to increase adoption and expand foster care for abused and neglected children.
She and Dae-Jung adopt Baek-Hee and So-Hyun. Baek-Hee’s parents disappear with no trace and So-Hyun’s mother, upon release from prison, leaves a note to Mi-Yung to continue to be So-Hyun’s mother because she is so ashamed of her past.
Mi-Yung regrets not telling her the truth about her own.
Dae-Jung is able to track them down and keeps tabs on them just in case they want to come back or the two girls want to confront them when they’re older. The adoption isn’t easy because of their lack of marriage certificate but they make it work.
Dae-Jung uses his branch of his sister’s construction company to help and hire high school dropouts. Every time, it lowers the crime rate in a district and interferes with whatever local gang is on top. When Mi-Yung becomes prime minister, she puts him in charge of her security detail.
They are happy and content when they retire back to the island where they first made their home. Baek-Hee and So-Hyun visit them often, as do the other children they helped get through school and fed when their parents couldn’t.
three. Kim Shin-Il and Choi Ji-Na have three children, two boys and a girl. Eun-Bi is their surrogate every time, and each time they have to amend the contract so by the time the girl is born there are no eggs cracked on Ji-Na’s head.
Shin-Il becomes a good doctor and an even better administrator. Myung-Dae makes him president of the university research hospital. It isn’t his favorite thing, but he’s good at it. He still writes poetry in his spare time. Ji-Na collects his half written poems and puts it into a book. She is able to get it published for him and it becomes a best seller around the world.
Ji-Na blossoms and thrives as a mother. She enjoys every moment of it and is happiest whenever she holds one of her children. She buys no more birds because she is never sad enough to consider suicide. She has good and bad days but under Shin-Il’s care the bad days are infrequent and pass quickly.
Grandfather is released from prison when their second son is born and begs them to move into the family estate. After some consideration and a promise to give Ji-Na the menagerie she needs for her birds, they move in.
Shin-Il never reconnects with his mother.
Ji-Na’s children know that the best gift for their mother is a brand new package of barrettes. Once her children are in school full time, Ji-Na returns to Se-Na’s clinic to assist her. The two women remain close throughout the rest of their days.
Ji-Na catches Myung-Dae about to cheat and threatens him so severely he makes a concerted effort to be a better husband and father. She keeps a close eye on him.
She votes for Mi-Yung to become prime minister and feels like it’s the most important public service she’s ever done. The race is close so Ji-Na believes it was her vote that helped her littlest flower win.
four. Jang Hye-Sung and Park Soo-Ha get the happily ever after they deserve. They live in Gunsan for six years, where Soo-Ha is made lieutenant of his precinct. Three years after Kwan-Woo is born, Hye-Sung gets pregnant with twin girls--Se-Ah and Se-Kyung, giving her exactly what she wanted, three children total.
Hye-Sung continues to manage both the sanctuary and hotel until her notice that she is allowed to reapply for her bar license comes in the mail. She renews it during one of her yearly trips to visit her mother, Cha Kwan-Woo, and Kim Hyun-Su.
They return to Seoul when Soo-Ha is offered a position as a detective in one of the more dangerous districts in Seoul. He becomes Captain there and it is his efforts that lower both violent and petty crime. His skills as an interrogator are whispered far and wide.
When he is offered the position of Police Commissioner under President Park Mi-Yung, he and Hye-Sung discuss the dangers for an entire night before he accepts.
Hye-Sung returns to being a public defender and seeks out cases where the law is being unfairly applied to prostitution victims. She makes a name for herself and is able to get plea deals with no jail time as long as her clients testify against the more power people who took advantage of them.
She often wins but when she doesn’t, she knows she can go home to Soo-Ha and he will listen and cry with her.
Kwan-Woo hits his head falling out of the quiet tree at school and inherits Soo-Ha’s abilities. Soo-Ha teaches him how to be a responsible and respectful mind reader. Hye-Sung discovers quickly that her twin girls can read each other’s minds. She bemoans this unfairness loudly, in all the ways she knows, so they have to listen to her.
But it is Hye-Sung that comforts Kwan-Woo when he comes home at fifteen dejected and sad that his favorite noona does not think of him anything more than a little brother. She tells him about her other relationships and how it is possible to love others just as much.
She tells him about Kim Hyun-Su and Cha Kwan-Woo. She tells him about the first boy in college she ever liked. She tells him about all the fears she had in falling in love with someone so much younger than her.
It helps and she is glad when he starts talking about other girls, tries to hide her surprise when he starts talking about boys, and does her best to make sure the law won’t discriminate against her little boy when things get serious with a man while he’s at the police academy.
Only Soo-Ha is not surprised when Kwan-Woo announces that he and Yeon-Jae are dating, then engaged, and finally set a wedding date.
Soo-Ha and Hye-Sung remain close with Yeon-Jae, and when she has a question her father didn’t think to answer, she comes to them.
The nightmares never really leave. Sometimes it is Kim Hyun-Su. Sometimes in it is Min Joon-Gook. But when the morning comes, Hye-Sung always has Soo-Ha to snuggle closer to, her children to enjoy, and a future without fear.
