Trip to The Mountain
@mediwhumpmay: head injury @themerrywhumpofmay: lake, frostbite
What was supposed to be a fun snowboarding trip turns into a disaster as s whumpee and their friends get caught in a snowstorm.  They all end up separated. Of course, whumpee's phone is dead. However, they question if there's a phone signal up on the mountain. They know they're not leaving a trail of footprints thanks to the storm and that they need to keep walking, hoping they're going in the right direction.
The whumpee questions how long they've been walking as the storm passes. Hoping to find shelter or their friends soon.  They're getting tired but know they need to keep moving.  Worried they were going the wrong way as they only see woods around them.
Three of whumpee's friends finally fund each other and search for whumpee. They find a path of footprints that turn into a path of plowed snow. The friends follow the path to a frozen lake, except for one spot. They're horrified to see whumpee floating in the water. Without talking to each other, one calls 922 while the other two look to see if they can get whumpee out of the water.
The two successfully get whumpee out of the freezing water but worry it's too late. Hating they can't begin warning whumpee. They can't do anything but wait for help to arrive.
The time between getting whumpee out of the water and being able to see them dragged on to whumpee's friends. They knew whumpee was in a bad state but were hoping for good news. "They need a miracle to survive," the doctor tells them, "severe hypothermia, frostbite, and a head injury." The friends now have their answer about how whumpee ended up in the lake. "The only good news is the frostbite wasn't severe enough that we had to amputate fingers or toes," the doctor adds, "I know it's nothing considering the state of whumpee. Please take care of yourselves while visiting them. I've seen people neglect themselves while visiting critically ill loved ones or friends." The doctor leaves the room, leaving whumpee's friends alone. Wondering if they should say goodbye now or pray for a miracle. Trying not to think about how serious whumpee's head injury is. Knowing it's pointless to know while whumpee could die overnight.  Due to all the machines, they can't sit by the bed.
Three hours pass, whumpee's friends are woken up by the dreaded long beep on the monitor. They know to leave the room. Watching medical personal rush into the room. Once again, they wait, feeling like time is dragging on.
"I'm sorry, we did everything we could." Whumpee's friends feel like they're dreaming. Even as they look at whumpee's dead body. The doctor wasn't expecting one of the friends to slap themselves, thinking they're dreaming and need to wake up. "Stop, y-you're not dreaming," one of the other friends says and hugs the distraught friend. They both cry.  Hating how the trip to the mountain turned out.

They Would Have Been OK
@mediwhumpmay: stay awake for me @themerrywhumpofmay: regret
Trying to write the style when characters are simply called whumper, whumpee, etc TW: starvation
Whumpee had been chained in the dark room for a long time. They don't know how many days have passed. The only light they see is when whumper opens the door. The light from the hallway is enough for them to do whatever they want to whumpee. Whumpee would feed whumpee but only sometimes. What whumpee found odd is they don't get tortured in any other way or interrogated. They do know they will die if this feeding schedule continues.
"We have to find them!" Whumpee's friend argues, "it's been a week!" "We're trying to find where whimper could be." Whumpee's friend knows they'd be searching blindly if they went on a search mission now. Regretting not joining whumpee on a walk. Wondering who would want to kidnap whumpee. It's not like whumpee works for the government or anyone else with information to harm someone or a group of people. Whumpee is a teacher teaching math. Not history or language arts.
Whumper smiles, seeing their prisoner not looking so good. Believing it'll be a few days before they're dead. The mood is killer when they hear sirens. "Well, this has been fun. You still have no idea who I am and will never know." Whumpee is unaware of what's going on.
The rescue team rushes in, guns in hand. Clearing every room until they reach whumpee. The five rescuers can't believe what they're seeing. "Get those paramedics in here, now!" One rescuer takes a look at whumpee, who struggles to stay awake. "Stay awake for me," the rescuer tells them, knowing in their state, whumpee might not wake up if they lose consciousness. Whumpee stares at them like no one is home in their mind. The rescue team knows they won't be able to keep them awake. Terrified paramedics won't be able to help them before getting to the hospital.
Whumpee's friend wasn't allowed to go with the rescue team. They sit in the living room at home, waiting for a phone call. Terrified the call would have bad news. Three hours pass, and they hear the doorbell, which worries them more than waiting for the phone call. Even if the person on the porch is their friend. "They found whumpee," their friend tells them, sounding worried, "it's bad. We should go to the hospital."
The two still had to wait three hours to find out how bad of a state their friend was in. Hating hearing that whumpee likely won't survive. "We're treating them, but this will take months, and they might only have days," the doctor explains. This adds to whumpee's friend's regret. They can see whumpee even though it's not a great sight.
The two friends hate all the tubes and machines their friend is connected to. They see how skinny whumpee is. Understanding how their friend might die rather than recover. Both think only a miracle can help whumpee now. They wouldn't be in this state if I only agreed to go with them. Whumpee's friend regrets. No one knows who would want to kidnap whumpee and starve them rather than kill them. They know unless whumpee recovers, they will never know.

Anxiety
@mediwhumpmay: sedation @themerrywhumpofmay: waiting room ( Snippet from A Lily in Winter)
"...I see why it seemed she disappeared," the femme says, "because she's always hurt and unable to attend school. Glad she wasn't allowed to return here, but why now?" Scrap, Lily's parents, and her brother will be informed. Sunstreaker worries as memories of the challenges he and Lily dealt with in their relationship, like most being against it. The time he struggled with anxiety. Sunstreaker?! I don't like what I'm feeling. Sideswipe worries through the bond.
With no response from Sunstreaker, Sideswipe rushes to find Drift. Knowing he's likely still upstairs while Ratchet is in the medbay.
"Something is wrong. I feel that feeling like before...Sunstreaker suffered a serious anxiety attack," Sideswipe explains, worried. "I'll stay here; go," Lightning tells the three mechs. The three rush out the door. Jamie doesn't know the three left, and Lightning hopes she won't ask where Crosshairs and Drift went. More because just hearing about Sunstreaker's anxiety attacks is scary enough, but to watch him deal with one.
Sunstreaker tries to get to his room but sits on the floor, feeling like he's being stepped on, but he knows the feeling is an anxiety attack. He can't even concentrate to tell Sideswipe to get help. Hoping his brother feels something is off and believes he can't just let this pass.
Ratchet and Veronica both worry, seeing three mechs approach worried. Ratchet is concerned, while Veronica is confused, hearing Sunstreaker is having an anxiety attack. She's told not to follow as the four mechs rush to Sunstreaker. Ratchet becomes worried as he realizes where Sunstreajker is and where he and Veronica were while talking five minutes ago. What the four see is concerning. They try to get Sunstreaker to talk but worry about the unusual passing out that occurs. "I'm sedating him before he passes out," Ratchet tells the three. He works quickly to get his medical supplies out of the capsule while the other three try to get Sunstreaker to calm down. Knowing they won't be able to get him to fully calm before Ratchet is ready to inject sedation drugs. The four skip the debate if this is better than Sunstreaker passing out and get Sunstreaker on the stretcher to get him to the medbay., They want to talk about something other than how the capsules are helpful.
While Veronica doesn't trust Sunstreaker enough to call him her friend, she worries about him and thinks Lily needs to know what's happening. "Lily! Open the door!" Lily panics, hearing the urgency in Veronica's voice, and hurries to the door. Her heart skips a beat when Veronica tells her something is wrong with Sunstreaker. She knows the two aren't friends, and Veronica still isn't sure about Sunstreaker. To hear her friend panic about her boyfriend is concerning. Add Veronica thinks he's being taken to the medbay. The two rush to the medbay.
"You didn't?" Drift sighs, seeing Lily and Veronica in the medbay. "Something is wrong with her boyfriend, so yeah, I did," Veronica argues. "Seriously, Drift?!" Lily asks, angry, "actually, all of you!"
Jasmine hears Lily from the room Sunstreaker is in. This tells her and Sunstreaker how loud Lily is yelling since the doors separate the waiting room from the rest of the medbay. "Get her," Sunstreaker tells her, "she's panicking." Sunstreaker would go to the waiting room, but he is uncertain if he can get off the bed. Jasmine asks Ratchet, who tells her it's fine. Ratchet hoped to keep Lily from knowing Sunstreaker had an anxiety attack, but now she knows.
Jasmine sees Lily is upset and her friend Veronica with her and the three mechs in the waiting room. Figuring out quickly how Lily found out. "Lily," Jasmine calls, "come with me." Lily is worried she's being led to Ratchet's office.
Lily runs onto the bed and lies on Sunstreaker, who hugs her. Sideswipe, who told her? Sunstreaker asks. Veronica, thinking Lily should know since you two are together. She doesn't know why you're here, but Lily figured it out. We'll talk later with Ratchet; the others will also want to know what happened. Veronica likely won't believe me if I let her hear what triggered my anxiety attack, even if she's worried about me. Sunstreaker believes. Sunstreaker hugs Lily, worried about why she's crying, and knows she won't believe he's ok.
The three mechs and Veronica are allowed to enter his room. Sunstreaker suspects Lightning is aware of the situation and is with Jamie. Good, one less femme that is worried about me, I hope. Sunstreaker thinks, relieved Jamie doesn't know about his anxiety attacks but worried his anxiety attacks will be frequent again. Sunstreaker had to tell Ratchet what triggered his anxiety. He didn't care Crosshairs, Drift, and Sideswipe are hearing what happened, but he was hoping Lily and Veronica would be told to leave the room before he said anything. He knew Lily would argue when he told her to leave, but he didn't think Veronica would argue.   Veronica feels guilty that Sunstreaker accidentally overheard what she told Ratchet, and Lily hears Sunstreaker repeat what she said. Oh boy, I screwed up. Veronica worries, seeing Lily's expression. Though she worries about what the others are thinking.

Worried Over a Cold
@mediwhumpmay: shaking @themerrywhumpofmay: hot coffee, doubt
Allergies are annoying, especially when Jamie isn't sure if her allergies are acting up or she's getting sick. Even as she feels cold drinking hot coffee, she questions if she's getting sick. Even if this is allergies, I'll feel like crap by the afternoon. Jamie thinks.   She chooses to go down to the training room as planned.
Lily and Sunstreaker don't notice anything different during the forty-minute workout, and a shower does help Jamie. She believes her issue was allergies, and the shower helped. The three go to their art room until lunch.
After lunch, Jamie needs to lie down. "I know her computer is in their room, but she didn't look good during lunch," Lily whispers. "Crosshairs and Drift must have also noticed. It could be allergies." Both do worry if it's not allergies. They don't want to wait five hours to see if Jamie is ok, but that's what they decide.
Drift walks into the room at four-thirty. He thought Jamie didn't look good at lunch, and seeing her already asleep confirms this. He and Crosshairs thought Jamie was dealing with allergies, but not bad enough to result in going to bed. Drift feels bad feeling Jamie's warm forehead. Crosshairs sees Drift is displeased. "She's sick," Drift sighs, "and I thought it was allergies." Crosshairs feels how warm Jamie is. He gets the digital thermometer from a box of medical supplies in his closet. Hating the box even exists rather than a drawer of a few medical items in a bathroom drawer. "101°," Crosshairs reads, "add she did a workout today. Definitely made herself feel like scrap with this cold." The two mechs are still trying to figure out what to do about dinner since it's too late to make soup, and Jamie will likely not want to go to the cafeteria. They don't want to wake her but want her to eat dinner. They don't have to wait long for Jamie to wake up. She tiredly agrees to get dinner. Jamie ignores how she feels as she sits up.
By the time the three return to the room, Jamie is ready for bed, even though it's only six. Knowing it's too early to sleep, Jamie lies on Drift's lap as the three watches TV. The two mechs hope this cold won't be bad.
Drift wakes up at two in the morning, worried about Jamie shaking. He turns on the lamp, hoping Crosshairs doesn't wake up, and sees her hugging herself. He turns off the lamp and moves Jamie closer to him, hoping to help her get warm and worried about her fever.
"She's not getting out of bed today," Crosshairs sighs, reading Jamie's temperature has risen. The two know one degree is still not great, even if it's not an issue that requires one of the medics to examine Jamie. Drift hates adding how Jamie was shivering overnight. The two aren't worried Jamie has the flu, and they hate seeing her sick as much as they hate her poor mental health. The two didn't think Lily and the terror twins would come by. The three also not liking Jamie is sick. Even though the Autobot knows what an Earth cold is. "Guys, a cold doesn't cause a flare-up if that's what you're worried about," Drift assures them, "she'll likely not want to get out of bed for a few days." The three walk down the hall. Crosshairs and Drift get ready for the day while waiting for Jamie to wake up. Crosshairs decides he'll get breakfast for the two and something that both mechs hope Jamie will eat.
Crosshairs figures toast is all Jamie will eat — if she'll eat the toast. He knows she'll drink hot tea. "Can we stay in your room and watch TV?" Lily asks with Sideswipe behind her. "No, Jamie will likely sleep most of the day." They should know this. Why do they want to stay in our room? Crosshairs wonders.
Drift is a little concerned about Lily and Sideswipe's request. He and Crosshairs suspect the terror twins, and Lily will come by soon to see how Jamie is doing. As Crosshairs thought, Jamie wants hot tea but doesn't want to eat when she wakes up. Drift goes to the kitchen to make soup. Hoping Jamie will want to eat when it's done. Jamie gets out of bed to lie on the couch and watch TV. Crosshairs lies on his bed, deciding to check on Jamie in an hour.
Like yesterday, Jamie is cold even while drinking something hot. She regrets not bringing the blanket from the bed but already feels like crap when she sits up. The short walk to the bed is impossible. Crosshairs figured Jamie would be cold and happy he didn't wait an hour to check on her. He gives her cold medicine, hoping she'll want to eat when the soup is done. Within a half-hour, Jamie is asleep. Sunstreaker is texting, wanting to know how Jamie is doing. "And he thinks Drift worries too much," Crosshairs smiles as he texts Sunstreaker. Should we worry about how worried the three are over Jamie being sick with a cold? Crosshairs questions.
Jamie is awake in time for lunch, feels like eating, and wants to go to the cafeteria. The two mechs let her go downstairs, and they know the terror twins and Lily will be happy to see her.
The terror twins and Lily are happy to see Jamie and that she's eating, but they know she had cold medicine. They know Jamie could get worse before she gets better, and they might not see her in the cafeteria until she's well. "This is likely the routine until she's well," Drift tells them, "I hope we can give her medicine so she'll come to the cafeteria for dinner. Lunch might be impossible depending on when she wakes up and takes medicine."
Drift is right, the routine is the two mechs and Jamie would be at the cafeteria for dinner, but Jamie only feels like eating dinner. This worries the twins and Lily even though Crosshairs and Drift aren't worried. Ratchet finds out and looks at Jamie with the three in the room. "It is a cold," Ratchet confirms, "if you three are worried about this, then I'm concerned." If Jamie's guardians aren't worried, the twins should know she's fine. Ratchet thinks as he leaves the room. "You know Drift would be a wreck if Jamie was in worse condition," Crosshairs whispers to the twins and Lily, "even if we can care for her. She'll be better in a few days."
The routine continues for two days before Jamie starts feeling better and wanting to eat more. Within another three days, Jamie is over the cold. She doesn't say anything about the twins and Lily being over-worried about her but worries about them when she suffers a flare-up, even if it's mild and infrequent.

The Right Place at the Right Time
@mediwhumpmay: surgery @themerrywhumpofmay: safe place
(Snipped from HIdden Killer) Rating: T TW: Gun, shooting
"Yes, I hope I'll be recruited," a man says to the person on the other end of the call, "I doubt it works like that. Ok, I'll be home soon, bye." The man walks down the street in the city's industrial area, heading to a bus stop. Austin watches his victim, feeling like he's slacking with his killings. Soon, the city will think I disappeared again. He believes. Killing is fun, but I must plan carefully not to blow my cover and get caught. This should be quick.
The man stops, hearing a soda can roll across the sidewalk. It's just the wind, and you're being ridiculous. He tells himself and continues walking. He walks a hundred feet down the sidewalk before hearing footsteps behind him. Even in a quiet area, the man questions how loud the person behind him is. He turns around to see who's behind him. Realizing he made a mistake, he questions if he'd be safe if he kept walking or ran down the sidewalk? "Yes, you made a mistake," the person taunts, "I love playing cat and mouse." Austin wants to torture his target, but seeing an ambulance and police car approach ruins his plan.
:: It's him! :: Ratchet comms Prowl. The two hope to get the killer but watch him shoot his target before running down the street. Prowl can't continue with the chase knowing a human is injured, even if he can do nothing until the human is more stable. The two mechs' holoforms rush to the human. The human passes out from the pain, and Prowl finds himself having to help Ratchet get the human prepped for transport. "No time to get him to the hospital or wait for air ambulance," Ratchet tells Prowl, "he needs surgery now."
"What?!" The woman on the other end cries, "I talked to him ten minutes ago!" Oh boy, no way she's going to the police station without seeing if her son is ok. Prowl realizes, happy he already talked to Lennox and Optimus.
Lennox, Optimus, and Prowl hate telling the worried woman what happened to her son. The woman knew about the Holiday Killer and hoped her son wouldn't cross paths with the guy. The three mechs take the worried mother to the medbay to wait to hear word about her son.
The three medics meet the worried mother, Emily, and learn their patient's name is Cayden Young. "...the good news is we only had to remove parts of organs that will repair themselves partially. I have Cayden on the ventilator for twenty-four hours," Ratchet explains. This doesn't help the worried mother. The four mechs with her silently agree to talk about Cayden's recovery and possibly the secret tomorrow. Happy Jasmine can support Emily. The only issue until tomorrow is getting Emily to go home. Emily is allowed to see her son. Lennox calls his wife, Sarah.
Anyone would be distraught seeing someone they know on a ventilator and getting a blood transfusion. For Emily, it's like she's having a nightmare even though she's awake. She sits by the bed, wishing Cayden would wake up, hating he won't until tomorrow. Jasmine and Sarah do their best to support Emily. Sarah decides Emily needs to come home with her. Hoping she can help the worried mother get some sleep.
Emily is distracted with the Lennox's twin daughters until they go to bed. Ratchet did tell Emily to take sleep aid to help her sleep. Knowing she's not sleeping without it.
"I can't believe she's being put through this," Sarah sighs, "or that someone else was the Holiday Killer's target, even if Cayden will recover." "I think we're beyond arresting him. Kill that Fragger! Let Sunstreaker deal with him!"
Ratchet is at the medbay at six in the morning, stopping the infusion keeping Cayden sedated. Hoping to take his patient off the ventilator before Emily gets to the base. By now, word has spread around the base that another victim of the Holiday Killer ended up in the medbay. The Autobot psychiatrist has a full schedule today.
By ten, Cayden is getting oxygen via a nasal cannula. "Your mom knows," Ratchet tells him. "Oh boy. She's been worried about the killer more than Dad. The one day I didn't take my gun with me either," Cayden sighs. "I saw what happened, and I doubt you would have had time to get your gun out and shoot."
Before Emily gets to the base with Sarah, Lennox, Optimus, Prowl, and Ratchet talk to Cayden. Hoping to get more answers as to why he was shot. He puts them on the spot when he asks why he was taken to a military base rather than the hospital. Cayden is trying to figure out what to think of the four men's expressions. He takes the chance and asks if this is the N.E.S.T. base. Feeling relieved, he doesn't sound insane to them and can explain how he knows N.E.S.T. was re-established.   "My dad was a soldier. He suspected since Autobots are once again legally allowed to stay on Earth, N.E.S.T. would have been re-established. I don't know how I would have found out otherwise while enlisting, but I hope to enlist in the special unit." "Cayden!" Emily rushes in. "Sorry, she wasn't going to wait any longer," Jasmine apologizes. The four mechs walk out of the room to talk. "I'm ok, Mom," Cayden tells his mom. She's probably going to tell me to forget the military. I'm amazed she has been ok with me joining since she worried about Dad while he was in N.E.S.T., Cayden believes.
The four mechs agree to let Emily know the secret, wondering if she has any idea since her husband was a soldier with them. "It's been eleven years, and this isn't public knowledge," Prowl reminds the others.
Emily is pleased to hear her husband was right about suspecting N.E.S.T. was re-established. While his mom is smiling, Cayden still worries she's no longer supporting his goal to enlist in the military. "Mom, you likely think I need to forget about the military, but I'll be safe." "He's out there, but I know this will be a safe place for you," Emily smiles, "and you got what you wanted." Emily knows the attack had nothing to do with her son wanting to join the military or the special unit. "Not yet, but I can attempt to get Cayden enlisted in N.E.S.T.," Lennox tells the two, "I can allow you to stay at the base for now while you recover." Emily knows home would be a safe place for her son but believes the base is better. It's a safe place and where her son wants to be.

@mediwhumpmay: no pain relief @themerrywhumpofmay: chronic pain
Whumpee is used to chronic headaches but still hates having chronic headaches. They don't track how many days they have headaches a month. They know it's enough that they've missed many fun days with friends. They don't have to tell them plans are canceled for today. Before the headache gets too bad, whumpee looks for pain relief. They look in every drawer in the bathroom and even the dresser. They're certain the pain relief wouldn't be elsewhere in the house. The only conclusion is they're out of pain relief. The only thing whumpee can do is continue until the headache is hard to ignore or lie in bed in their dark bedroom. Except for the fact that they're bored, so whumpee decides to use their phone.
They get an hour of phone time before the light from the phone is a bother. Whumpee is hoping to fall asleep, as sometimes a nap helps. Other times, the headache becomes much worse when they wake up.
Whumpee struggles to fall asleep. The headache is worse than they thought. They struggle to get comfortable no matter the position they're in. The bright light from the phone indicating some kind of notification doesn't help. Without looking at what the notification is, whumpee turns their phone off.
"Whumpee!?!" Their friend calls just as whumpee is falling asleep. The friend enters the bedroom and turns the lights on, realizing they shouldn't have. They turn the lights off and use their phone light to see where they're going. "Another one of those days?" Their friend asks, and Whumpee tells them they have a headache and are out of pain relief. Whumpee's friend shows them a travel-sized bottle of pain relief from their pocket, "I'm always prepared. Well, the best I can be." "At least I'm not ruining the day." "You were never ruining the day when we had plans. We all know your headaches may cause a last-minute cancellation." Whumpee takes the pain relief, hoping to fall asleep. Their friend decides to stay, knowing how bad these headaches can be.

We Are Family
@mediwhumpmay: Emergency room @themerrywhumpofmay: Home base
A soldier and his wife worry about their two-year-old daughter. Certain her 102° temperature is a concern for children her age, but also worry they'll look like those parents that worry for nothing. They decide to go to the E.R. when their daughter cries while in bed and doesn't like being picked up.
The ride to the hospital is unpleasant for the toddler. The worried parents hope it's not going to be a long wait. "Her pediatrician isn't in today, and there is no room for appointments today," the worried mother sighs.
An hour passes, and the soldier decides to go to the cafeteria to get coffee for himself and his wife. For now, their daughter sleeps while being held.
Ratchet walks into the hospital, seeing the always full emergency room waiting room. He can't help when there are not enough rooms in the department to take patients in, but he does see one patient he can help.
"You know you are allowed to take her to my medbay," he tells the worried mother after being told why they're at the emergency room. They wait for her husband to return to head to the base.
By the time they reach the medbay, the little girl is awake and not liking how she still feels unwell. Ratchet knows how to be gentle with the unhappy toddler.
"The flu and ear infection in both ears," Ratchet concludes, "she can stay here until the medications kicks in."
The toddler is not pleased to be carried to another room and sat up to take medicine. "Shh, don't tell Ratchet, but I got you a lollypop," Jasmine whispers "I'm right here," Ratchet comments. The little girl smiles and lets out s little laugh. The toddler is comfortable watching T.V. on their tablet while the adults leave the room.
"I know this is a military base, but it's also the Autobots' home, and we have become more like a family with the soldiers who chose to live here. I know you don't live here, but you can visit the medbay if necessary. I will send my file to your daughter's pediatrician." "Thank you, Ratchet," the soldier replies. "This can be like a second home to you," Jasmine smiles. The parents take their child home once she's asleep, thinking about considering the base a second home base.

Proven Wrong
@themerrywhumpofmay: sidewalk @mediwhumpmay: short of breath TW; death, murder
Joshua Weber walks down the street late at night in an area of the city that is quiet late at night. He has heard of the Holiday Killer. How whoever they are disappeared for a year and now has returned. The city news talks about how there's no clear pattern, and many fear they're next. Joshua isn't worried. "Cowards scared for no reason," he says out loud as he walks down the sidewalk. "Are you sure they're afraid for nothing?" Someone asks from behind him. "Yes, there's nothing—." Joshua stares at the person who asked the question. A man dressed entirely in black, and all he can see is the man has blonde hair and red eyes. "Nothing to fear, you say?" the man charges towards him, grabs his jacket, and drags him into the nearby alleyway.
"I thought you didn't have to fear me," the man taunts, seeing the fear on his victim's face. He gets out his knife from his hoodie's pocket and cuts the man's jacket, "should I kill you or terrify you so you'll warn the others who think I'm not a threat?" Joshua isn't sure how he's to run away and warn others in the city as the killer cuts his chest, "now get lost!" Joshua runs before the killer changes his mind.
Joshua runs down the sidewalk until he's short of breath and his chest hurts. He looks around the area, realizing he's in a part of the city that's not very populated. He thinks he's in the industrial area, and Joshua believes his only choice is to keep walking.
Joshua walks for ten minutes but feels like he's been walking for hours, but also that he ran a marathon as he struggles to breathe. He's still determining if he sees a person in the distance but keeps walking.
Two guards stand at their post. Not expecting to watch someone staggering toward them. "Are you ok?" One guard asks, and the person falls to the ground. The guards realize this is a man and see their shirt is soaked with blood, "get Ratchet!" The other guard rushes into the base.
Jolt and Ratchet can't believe what they're seeing and rush to get the man into the medbay. The guards can only hope they'll find out what happened to the guy, and there's good news.
Jolt and Ratchet are concerned about the amount of bleeding they're seeing. Worried the man is quickly running out of time, but they need to at least get x-rays. The X-rays adds to their worry that they don't have much time. The only action they can take is a chest tube, but both are uncertain about this treatment considering his vitals. "If there's no improvement by tomorrow, we need to do surgery," Ratchet decides. The two medics return to their office. Ratchet finds out who the patient is and is relieved there is no one he'd have to call if Joshua dies.
Austin returns to the base now as his disguise, Dylan. He's certain Joshua made his way to the base and knows he will likely find out if Joshua is dead in the morning.
Everything is fine for an hour until Joshua starts rapidly declining. They struggle to get him stable and are unsuccessful. Hating the dreaded sound from the monitor, and they struggle to be hopeful they'll get Joshua back. They try for ten minutes with no change. "Time of death, midnight," Ratchet sighs. The two medics hope to find out what happened, even though this man isn't a soldier. Austin smiles, seeing the city coroner walking into the base. He goes up to his room before he's questioned since it's rare for anyone to be out of their rooms at midnight. They'll never find out who killed him. He smiles.

Another Attempt at a Warning
@mediwhumpmay: choke @themerrywhumpofmay: the backroom (Snippet for Hidden Killer)
Three days passed, and as Sunstreaker thought, due to the suspension that the Holiday Killer is in the base and killed a soldier, not one soldier got the hint about leaving his friends alone. He's concerned about how frequently soldiers are targeting Jamie. Something he'll have to report to Lennox and Optimus, as dealing with the soldiers himself will eventually get him in trouble.   You know you'll get in trouble. Sideswipe reminds him. I can't watch them target her. You know how she is. Sunstreaker argues. Even after I tell Lennox and Optimus, this won't stop. Remember, Lennox already lectured the soldiers. This pisses me off about Jamie's past, along with what the soldiers are doing. Rarely does Sunstreaker feel Sideswipe get angry. I'll try a more gentle warning this time. Sunstreaker tells him. Sideswipe questions what Sunstreaker means, but won't stop him.
Sunstreaker follows the soldier out of the base and down the street to McDonald's. While the public place will make the task a bit harder, Sunstreaker isn't waiting until the soldier returns to the base.  Avoiding the soldier realizing  he's here is impossible.  Sunstreaker orders food to go but sits at a table across the restaurant from the soldier.  He can still smell the soldier's fear. Even while fearing why Sunstreaker is at McDonald's with him, the soldier finishes their meal and throws away their trash., Before going to the back of the restaurant. Sunstreaker knows the restrooms are there but is uncertain if there's another way out. He follows the soldier, shoving him into the backroom before the soldier can enter the bathroom.   He turns on the light, seeing the terrified soldier. He shoves them to the wall, wrapping his hands around the soldier's neck. "Listen up, fleshie, I am tired of you scumbags targeting Jamie and Lily. Leave them alone or to get next time won't be a warning!" He tightens his hold on the soldier's neck until the soldier starts gagging before releasing his hold and leaves the room to return to the table and finish his food.
A few minutes pass, and Sunstreaker watches the soldier rush out of the building, hoping the soldier will warn the others and the two femmes will be left alone.

A Warning Message
MediWhump: no screaming WhumpMay: chair TW; torture, knife, blood, gore, human dissection, beheading, graphic kill, mention of suicide (Snippet from Hidden Killer)
Sunstreaker doesn't bother trying not to kill soldiers if they disrespect him, but now they better be careful not to disrespect Jamie and Lily. He would have loved to send a message with the body of the soldier who beat Lily, but he wasn't risking bringing the body back, and he certainly wasn't carrying a body off a cruise ship. Sunstreaker knows he has to be careful, remembering the challenge he and Lily had just to be allowed to be together and the challenge he has getting Jamie to befriend him. Seeing Jamie upset pisses him off before finding out the cause. Not that it's any better, but the issue is not a soldier. Sideswipe assures him. Remember, she went home the other day? Unbelievable, she can't catch a break. I know she deals with scrap less here, but I hate soldiers target her and Lily. Sunstreaker tells his brother. Glad they don't target Jasmine or Audrey. That would be fragged up targeting a toddler, but she's always with an adult. Leave Jamie alone for a while. Sunstreaker agrees though he wants to see if art will help her mood.
"How is that human allowed here?" Sunstreaker hears a soldier, "I heard she was going to kill herself three years ago, but she was allowed to keep coming back here." The soldier is shoved to the wall, a hand over his mouth. They're near an unused room no one knows Sunstreaker uses as a torture room.
Even though it's been a while since Sunstreaker has tortured a soldier, the room is still prepared for the next victim. A chair in the middle of the room below a light. Sunstreaker was able to change the lights so that only that light turns on.  The Autobots can see in the dark. The soldier being dragged worries about where he's being taken even though he knows it's a room in the base, even as he's forced into a sitting position and tied up.   "Untie me!" They demand. "No! I should talk scrap about you, but you won't feel like Jamie does. I think you deserve physical pain, but no screaming!" Sunstreaker starts slowly cutting the soldier's arms in various spots. The soldier bites their tongue to not scream even as Sunstreaker moves to cut the soldier's legs. Smiling at the blood going down his legs better than the blood on his arms. He wanted his victim to be quiet but misses the screaming.  Screams or no screams, he has to send a message to the soldiers in the baser. This soldier must die. Sunstreaker smiles hearing the soldier scream in pain as he stabs deep in the abdomen. Creating large incisions for organs to fall out. The soldier looks at what's going on in horror, knowing the end is near. Sunstreaker then moves the knife up, repeating what he did to the soldier on the cruise ship. The soldier is dead in seconds. He cuts the limbs off and beheads the soldier.  Once the mess is cleaned up, he figures out how to distribute my message across the base overnight.
Soldiers and Autobots are horrified, finding human body parts and organs across the base. Sunstreaker listens to the conversations around the cafeteria. "The killer is here," he hears several soldiers say. This is not what was supposed to happen. Sunstreaker thinks. Even if they're all terrified, if they'll leave the two femmes alone, then I'll accept the fear.
Lennox, Optimus, and Prowl on the other hand, are concerned that the Holiday Killer is in the base. That a new recruit is likely him. Austin is concerned his cover is close to being blown, but leaving won't protect his cover. I guess it's time for the next phase of the plan. He decides and contacts Megatron.

They Know
@mediwhumpmay: car crash @themerrywhumpofmay: knife (SNippet from Hidden Killer)
To keep fear alive in the city, Austin continues to find targets, while being careful not to blow his cover.  He enjoys being creative with his kills. Today, he breaks into someone's car, but he needs to keep his target unsuspecting as they return to their vehicle. The only issue he might have is if the target needs to place something in the back seat.  He doesn't have to wait long for his unsuspecting target to get into the car and drive.
"Hello," Austin smiles as he moved onto the seat. The driver panics, "keep driving." The driver does as told while panicking.  Austin waits for the right moment for the next step.
The driver gasps feeling a knife's blade on his neck. "Tell me about the Autobots'," he demands. "They went home three years ago.." "Lies! They're still here, and you work with them. Now tell me about them. I'll let you live and earn them." "How do you know they're still on Earth if you don't know about them? You're the one that female victim is warning N.E.S.T. about!" Austin knows he can't let his target live. He stabs the victim in the throat and pulls the knife down. His victim screams as he loses control of the car. Austin braces for impact as the car crashes into a wall. He's able to rush away from the scene. Fuck, that bitch was smart to warn them with her blood. I have to be careful. Austin worries as he runs down the street and into an alleyway.  He uses his watch to change his appearance to Dylan Greene. Walking out of the alleyway when no one is  paying attention.   He discovers someone already called for help with the accident and people are panicking.  He knows he can't look pleased with the scene.

Warning
@mediwhumpmay: bleeding out @themerrywhumpofmay: creepy basement (Snippet from Hidden Killer) TW: graphic depictions of violence, mention of rape
Victoria Hunt walks down the street, hand on her gun. She has no choice but to walk down the sidewalk alone. She is not pleased her car is in the shop and the bus stop isn't right in front of her home. She knows it's foolish to think the city is large; what's the chance the Holiday Killer would find them.
Along with the Holiday Killer case, Optimus and Prowl are invested in cases that could lead to him, like missing person cases. Since it seems the Holiday Killer doesn't have a pattern for his targets. It's been a mix of people who knew him and strangers. This time the police were told the missing person knew the Holiday Killer. Adding urgency to finding them alive.
"That does sound fun, but I don't want a kid; not like I can keep any captive alive while hiding in the N.E.S.T. base." Fuck, he knows I'll be dead before anyone finds where we are. Victoria realizes. Not any better than being raped and held captive to ensure I have his baby. Austin smiles, hearing Victoria scream in pain as he cuts her abdomen. A few deep cuts with a lot of blood. He tells her he won't return for days to deal with her dead body and leaves. Smiling, hearing Victoria beg him to help her as he walks away. Victoria only thinks of writing a warning using her blood. If she's not found until after she dies, she is hopefully saving anyone who is Austin's target.
"They found her," Prowl tells Prime, not hiding his disappointment, "slow death by bleeding out. Interestingly, she was told something, and she wrote a warning with her blood; N.E.S.T." "The Holiday Killer told her a target is in this base?" Optimus questions. "But not a name, so this isn't much help." Both hope to figure out who's the target within the base quickly.

Failed Kidnapping
@mediwhumpmay: "We've got you." / "You're safe." @themerrywhumpofmay: dragged (snippet from Hidden Killer)
A man walks down the street, minding his own business. He's heard of the Holiday Killer but isn't worried about being a target. Especially as he walks in a populated part of the city. Even if it's eleven at night. "Ah, an unsuspecting fool," Austin smiles while watching them from the roof of a building. He completes his outfit and hurries down the fire escape. "Let go of me!" His target yells and tries to fight back, but he's not strong enough. Austin knocks down his target and drags him into the alleyway by the arms. The man tells for help, hoping someone will help rather than just call the police. "Hey!" Another man yells as he and another rush to the man and Austin. Austin let go of his victim and prepared for a fight. Until he underestimates the two men's strength. They'll blow my cover. He worries and rushes up the fire escape. "You're safe," one man says as the two help the victim up, "we've got you." The two men worry about the system of their victim. They lead him into the nearby Starbucks and call an ambulance. Aware the police will come.
"...the guy was covered from head to toe except for his eyes," one of the men explains. "But it was too dark to see his eye color," the other man adds. The victim confirms his assaulter is a man by his voice. The officers believe the man was the Holiday Killer, even with the little information. The paramedic believes the victim doesn't need to go to the hospital. The officers return to the station, relieved a target of the Holiday Killer wasn't killed.

Painful Death
@mediwhumpmay: alt 3 poisoning @themerrywhumpofmay item 2 hydrochloric acid (snippet from Hidden Killer) TW; death, murder
Austin is given a tour of Que and Wheeljack's science lab. He is interested in science, but he is currently hoping to find something to use for his next kill. Austin knows he needs to be careful about what he takes, and he finds a hidden bottle behind a larger one. Taking the chance, he takes the bottle, a syringe, and a box of needles.
Once back in his room, Austen researches the chemical and its effects on the human body. This information aids in figuring out a plan. The only challenge is figuring out when to cross paths with his target, and social media and his target posting where they go make this easier. Dumbness posting where they go to work out. Austin smiles. Reviewing the map of the area. He's able to figure out where his target lives.
Austin leaves the base at four in the morning. Liking his target is someone who likes early morning workouts. He finds his target's car and can jumpstart it. He prepares what he needs to get the target to the designated location. He covers himself as he does when approaching his targets.
".... I'll be there at nine," Austin hears his victim. "You'll be a no-show," Austin tells them. "You don't want to challenge me," his target warns. The two start fighting. "Sh, I see you've been preparing for this day," Austin smiles. "I don't even know you." Ystin continues to fight his target until they're by the car. He can tie up his target, gag, and put him in the trunk. "Whoever taught you self-defense sucks." Austin finds his victim's keys, closes the trunk, and speeds off to the location.
Once at his victim's house, he drags his victim into the house after unlocking the door. He drags the victim upstairs to a bedroom.
Austin puts his target on the bed and removes the gag. "Untie me bitch!" Tsk tsk, I thought you'd remember me, Donald." Austin removes his hood and face covering. "You! I was hoping you would have been one of the deceased in the fire." "Who do you think set the fire?! "You're not the only one to underestimate me. In fact, I'm surprised the police didn't warn you, Donald. I've killed the judge who sentenced me, the fucker who runs the asylum, and your torture partner," Austin loves seeing the fear on Donald's face, "now it's your turn." Austin injects the chemical, eager to hear Donald scream, and he thought he'd be waiting a few minutes to hear Donald scream. "What did you inject?! Fuck, it burns!" Austin stays for a few minutes, hearing his victim scream.
"911, what's your emergency?" I hear screaming from my next-door neighbor. Like in pain screaming." The caller tells dispatch who lives at the house the screaming is coming from. They watch from in their home, hoping to see someone run out of the house to help the police with their investigation, but it seems no one leaves the home from when they've called 911 to when emergency services arrive.
Prowl, Jolt, and Ratchet chose to be part of the team who rushes to the home. They are concerned about how much pain the human in the bedroom is in. "The killer is...," the victim tries to say but struggles with the pain. The medics hoped to help with pain to find out what the victim was saying, but he soon goes I ri respiratory failure. They're concerned about how rapidly their patient is declining and worried he won't survive the trip to the hospital.
By the time they get to the hospital, the patient cannot breathe on their own, and their heart rate is above one-hundred beats per minute. The medical team and medics who responded to me the call quickly realize how serious the case was. All believe they'll need a miracle for this patient to survive as they see signs of internal bleeding. Worried surgery isn't an option; the alternative is letting the patient die.
They try all they can in the operating room, but the patient dies within twenty minutes. The surgical team discovers part of the cause of death. "What the hell caused his organs to be corroded?" One of the surgeons asks. They thought they'd have to wait until an autopsy happens, but blood tests showed hydrochloric acid in the blood. "Suicide?" "No, they were trying to say something," Ratchet argues, "perhaps the name of the one who injected this chemical." They know they'll never find out and can't assume it was the Holiday Killer. Worried others are in danger of dying this way, and hating there's nothing they can do to prevent more people from dying this way.
Austin knows he can't reuse the same weapon to kill as much as he loved hearing his victim scream.

Hiking Accident
@mediwhumpmay: field medicine @themerrywhumpofmay: hiking trail
With the issues, the medics have dealt with the past week during boot camp, Jasmine and Jolt decide to join the rookies, though they're more trained. Ratchet chose to stay behind in case soldiers who weren't going on the hike end up injured with the training they're doing. Jasmine and Jolt will join ten rookies and five higher-ranked soldiers. "Hopefully, you two being with them will catch anyone else refusing to eat or aren't staying hydrated before it's critical," Ratchet comments, "what's with this group of rookies?" He sighs. The two medics on the hike hope they are prepared and don't have to deal with serious issues.
Ten soldiers are going on the hike along with the Drill Sargent for the group, who is not liking that two medics are joining the group.
"You're so slow," a soldier complains. "It's called pacing." The others watch the soldier shove the 'slow' soldier. This results in the soldier to lose their footing and they fall down the small hill. "You're lucky we're not on a cliff!" The Drill Sargent scolds. The soldier tries to get up but feels pain. The two medics are worried about the soldier but also not pleased a medical issue has arisen. Seriously what is with these rookies? Jolt questions. "They're not going to be able to continue," the Drill Sargent observes, "the rest of you weaklings follow me!" The other soldiers follow the Drill Sargent.
The soldier who fell doesn't want to be touched or moved onto a stretcher to get to the medical cabin. The medics do need to get ab x-ray of the soldier's ankle and leg, but they need to help with the broken bone for the trip back to the medical cabin, as Ratchet will not be able to reach them in vehicle mode. The medics like the capsules they've been using. This time the method of carrying medical supplies allows them to have fast-acting pain relief via injection. This drug still takes fifteen minutes to kick in, which unfortunately results in the medics hearing the soldier scream in pain, but he won't feel pain when they reach the cabin to get an x-ray and treat the injuries. The soldier slowly feels less pain as Jasmine and Jolt carry the stretcher down the trail. All three aren't liking opening a groundbridge isn't an option.
The two medics are sweaty by the time they reach the cabin. They get a short break while Ratchet checks the soldier's vitals and their file. The soldier doesn't feel pain as he's moved onto the X-ray bed. He's worried about what his injuries will do to his military career.
"Good news is you won't need surgery," Ratchet starts, "but you'll be in q cast for six weeks. Full recovery is going to take three to four months." Ratchet knows the soldier doesn't want to hear this, whether they're a rookie or not. He won't add the possible timeframe for physical therapy before the soldier can get back to training. Lennox is informed, and arrangements are made to get the soldier home.

Stressed
@mediwhumpmay: breakdown @themerrywhumpofmay: office (Snippet from Hidden Killer)
No one knows that for the past week, Prowl would sleep four hours before being wide awake. Even though it's two in the morning, he doesn't dare go to his office. In case s guard catches him and reports him to Optimus. What's different this time is Prowl fell asleep. He couldn't believe he had slept until ten. To him, this means no time to eat as he has lots to do. I have to remember Energon in four days. He reminds himself.
This is routine until after the day he has to consume Energon, and Prowl decides to stop eating food altogether. Unaware, his superior and the chief medic notice his strange behavior within days.
Prowl sits at his desk, staring at the papers on the Holiday Killer case. The same papers he's been reviewing for weeks as if he knows he missed something. Even though the police gave him copies of the files, they have yet to say they've found new evidence.
Optimus tries to get Prowl to take a break. Unprepared for the response from Prowl. This is not like him. Optimus worries. He'd get angry at bots not following rules but not lash out at me. Optimus talks to Ratchet and Rung.
"I'm fine!" Prowl argues as Optimus and Ratchet try to talk to him. "I do have the power to suspend you from helping the police," Optimus threatens. "Actually, that's a good idea," Ratchet adds, "you're not contributing anything extra to the case to help the police. If you were, we could have Mirage help them. This would be wise for your health, and you forget we must eat like humans to keep using our holoforms for long periods. Also, forced time off would give you more time to deal with your other task." "Don't call it a task!" Prowl snaps, "that's fragged up." "It's more like a challenge," Drift jumps in, "Jamie is complicated, and even though she knows you, this will be hard for her." "You won't be stepping down from the case, but you need a break," Optimus adds. Prowl sighs, frustrated, "fine." The four mechs aren't liking the lack of clues to arrest the killer. Worried about how many more humans will suffer before he's dealt with.
