GW2 people - Pitch me YOUR idea for an Expansion!

What's the theme, where are we going, what lore threads are we picking up on, what's the story premise, what mechanics do you think it could have.

I love spitballing ideas when I'm talking with friends so I'm posing the question To Everyone because I know everyone has some pet concepts floating around. As self-indulgent as you'd like, as unrealistic as you like, just throw ideas around, I wanna hear them!

The One I think I have the most rounded ideas for would be an Underwater Expansion. Picking up on the threat of whatever is terrorising the deep oceans, having some exploration of the Largos and bringing back in the Quaggan and the Krait maybe!

I love the sort of depths we get in maps like Frostgorge sound, and underwater combat has badly needed a rework and a tune up - there's loads of skills which straight up don't work and break entire builds underwater, and this would be a perfect excuse to try bring it up to speed. Maybe even make the underwater weapon sets function on land, to satisfy those who're after more weapons. You could make the maps a mix of true underwater and perhaps giant air bubble caves so you still had some land exploration even in maps otherwise set deep under the ocean. A map meta split with land phases and water phases. Additionally as personal bias wish, I'd love map event/meta design more like HoT. A map-wide Story with a few chains with specifically Build into the actual true Meta. I also simply love the idea of having a bunch of enemy designs based of the ocean and the abyss, there's so much incredible inspiration and interesting marine life. and biomes too! Give me a hydrothermal vent section in one of the maps, hell underwater 'water' in the form of brine pool 'quicksand'.

The Turtle might get some more use out of it's underwater, and skimmer would absolutely get spotlight as a skyscale isn't going to get you too far here - hell maybe even some speedy new underwater mount could be a fun addition to the roster.

I can see a plot being around trying to work with the Largos, The 'Terror of the Deep' being a danger and learning from them about how to survive the hostile environment and also convince them work with you to Hunt the 'Terror'. Maybe you come to the area of the ocean with the Quaggans and it's convincing the Largos to take them seriously as allies against whatever you're fighting? A quaggan companion character would be really fun, and you could easily bring back Sayeh al' Rajihd from the personal story given Largos involvement. I think not only would it be something very different in terms of the maps, which granted quite a few people might not like (thalassophobia reasons, or general Dislike of Water Gameplay reasons), but I think a rework of the underwater mechanics would benefit a bunch of places and it's something that really doesn't get touched outside of base game and maybe like, the Leviathans in EoD. There's so much neat creature design inspiriation swimming around out there, and I know so many people love the largos and even if not playable getting to see more of them could be neat! Also - it'd finally make all those legendary full people happy. A Legendary Aquabreather :P.

And a new suite of legendary underwater weapons since the G1 set. (and not themed pretty please make them all Unique.)

CitoIta and Kingdom Hearts Headcanons

Because I like Kingdom Hearts and I like them and they are gamers

(I say CitoIta but honestly, it’s just because it’s about Citron & Itaru, the ship is kinda vague here lol. Like it’s probably optional to read it that way at this point)

(There’s an attempted bonus section about Banri at the end, that’s why I tagged him.)

In this post, scientifically backed by my memory, understanding of the characters and other things (eg: feelings, unlisted headcanons, & my understanding of types of people in fanbases/the kh fandom, minus shippers, I’m not touching that... here, I might consider it in the future, probably not but maybe), I will go over basics like how many games they’ve played and their fave games, trios, characters by groups, and moments. Also, there are conversations and little tidbits about how it fits into their world. I tried to pick a favorite battle but note that they probably have more than one those are just notable ones that I thought were worth mentioning. There will be KH spoilers if you’re someone unfamiliar/not caught up with it. 

Citron

Has not played every game but has looked into the story and watched playthroughs of some of the other games.

Hasn’t played the games he has played in order, 

Might not have caught up on the story in order but if so that’d be more because he was looking for specific characters and info

Itaru participates too but he doesn’t have the same luck in seeing them, he is the reason they started tho as in person he pointed one out so later Citron sent a picture of one to show him, so Banri just had to too but he sent two as he already had the pictures and was gonna show them later, so Citron had to find two more to be in the lead and after he found just one more, Banri caught on that they were competing and they spiraled from there

I know logically they don’t appear that often irl but I also know in my heart that it’s happened enough that Taichi, then Kazu and Kumon participated. Now,  the rest of Mankai keeps an eye out for them

Between Tsumugi’s picture of flower bulbs leaning together captioned “Does this count as a lucky emblem?” Izumi asking how many points she gets for a random spot on the ground that sorta looks like a lucky emblem & Omi sending a picture of at lighting set up from work saying “ at this angle this sorta looks like a lucky emblem right?” Sakyo’s feeling a little betrayed because each of those were during times when people weren’t actively mentioning them in the chat.

Vanitas vs Aqua:

Banri: *(possibly somewhat jokingly) insinuates Vanitas is as strong but probably stronger than Aqua*

Citron: *gasp* No!! He is not.

Banri: Really? Then how come he almost took Aqua out?

Citron[genuinely loves Vanitas]: He is a rat! He cannot beat Aqua in a fair fight!

Itaru: I believe he means brat.

Citron: No!! I mean rat, feral ferret child! Can only beat Aqua after biting her and giving her rabies! And even then, she still has at least a week to destroy him.

Itaru: lol that’s quite the metaphor.

Banri: I... *got lost* ???

Itaru: He’s saying Vanitas can only use dirty tricks to even get close to beating Aqua.

Banri: ???

Citron: If Vanitas could beat her he wouldn’t have to result to tricks like firing at Ven, which she was already off her A-game then mind you. But honestly, if Vanitas can’t even get close to beating Terra what hope does he have to actually beat Aqua. I can vouch that he can’t beat Terra. I beat the Terra v Xehanort and Vanitas battle by whacking Vanitas around. It was really easy. Vanitas has only beaten Ven in a fair fight. He’s not nearly as strong as Terra and Aqua. It’s demonstrated through their elements, really. Vanitas is fire...

Banri: *stressed, wasn’t expecting a whole lecture, looks to Itaru for help*

Itaru: *nodding along listening to what Citron has to say*

So yeah those are some of my headcanons involving KH and CitoIta (and Banri with minor Mankai mentions.) If anyone wants to do Taichi(who idk could play already, while I haven’t picked any out I know what type of moments would be his faves, I just can’t figure out yet if he prefers characters he relates to or characters he thinks are cool/want to be like) or Kumon (who I’d feel would want to start after seeing them enjoy it, bet Banri and Citron would have him play chronologically by timeline rather than release order “for science”) or any other characters, really, I’d gladly read it. I can see Taichi & Kumon playing KH but I don’t feel like I know them well enough to do this with them lol. I’m not even sure I know Banri well even to this with him but I attempted it lol. If there’s any questions about my decisions I might answer them, some are easier to put into words than others though. 

Anywho, I dunno how to end this post tbh. Ship CitoIta, Play Kingdom Hearts. idk.

i like that they view the songs and performance as one because again, the reason im here to begin with is because i wanted to watch cool dancing that fit my taste and they did the trick, and then i loved their music so v much. but i do wish they viewed their music as stand alone too <3 they have intense and intricate dances that they're not gonna be able to do once they hit their later years (if they're still together) so its like -.- look out for our own backs boys, pls

I’m DM’ing my first session after... over half a year, and I am so nervous! 

#d&d #dungeons and dragons #dm'ing #dungeon master #dante dicit #it's a rerun of my first campaign and naturally a lot of stuff went wrong in my first campaign (when it came to player involvement and #i ended up railroading too much bc of the lack of involvement which made things worse etc) #and all of the PCs have solid backstories now and they're legitimately tied to the world #so it *should* all work out #but First Sessions are so hard to run because I think this first session *will* still end up being very railroaded #which I don't think is an issue in and of itself but I hope my players bear with me for long enough to get to the more open stuff #which should honestly be the end of this session or the start of next session #but the character introductions are going to be pretty railroaded as I want to get those backstory tie-ins down First #and I also don't know if I have *enough* planned for this session #I think I do? I thought I did? would you say its recommended to practice english horn parts on the oboe when you don't have access to an EH yet. my orchestras playing petite suite by debussy and im second oboe and half of the second oboe part is EH and maybe this time i can finally get to play the EH :D but i dont have one (yet) but i think my orchestra has one

ooh well good luck learning the vaughan williams! i had a tough time with it myself but it's definitely not my preferred style, if you like it that much i think you'll probably have a better time with it than me lol

interesting question! it certainly won't hurt to practice EH parts on oboe until you get access to an actual horn to play on. at the very least, you can get the used to the general articulation and fingerings (just keep in mind that you'll be playing a fifth different from what's written if you play an EH part on oboe -- this might be a a little trippy if you have perfect pitch lol). the half hole is probably the strangest compared to oboe but that's just cause it's a split key on EH due to the length of the instrument, the fingerings are all still the same.

of course i have no idea if you have any prior experience playing EH, but assuming it's "little to none," i'll (hopefully) reassure you in saying that it is really similar to oboe (if you can play one, you can pretty much play the other). EH takes a bit more space within your mouth and throat and diaphragm i find, and a bit more air to make everything speak just right. the reed might take some slight adjusting to, since it's bigger and speaks slightly slower than an oboe reed. and there's a couple of quirky notes that stick out on EH different from oboe (esp high notes, lol). but it should be pretty easy to pick up. i recommend getting a thumb rest and (optionally) a neck strap though; EH is heavy compared to oboe, especially if you play for long periods. also, if you have access to multiple bocals, try them all out and see which ones feel better to play on/are more in tune in different halls or weather.

Poor people feel guilty about buying stuff already. Even essential stuff. They have very little ability to adjust the amount they consume, and any adjustments that are possible would be almost negligible.

The moderately affluent and up vastly overestimate the impact of small adjustments to their lifestyle, and think of denying themselves any indulgence as extreme frugality. This is often the group that uses the "we" pronoun in the statement "We should consume less."

Most of the USA's carbon emissions come from heating and cooling and from cars. Since homelessness is treated as a crime, houses are not made sustainably or constructed smaller than a certain size, and it is virtually impossible to work or obtain basic needs without a car, there is a very solid and nearly impenetrable bottom to the scale of individual consumption.

So much consumption is near 100% impossible to opt out of, which means of course that the money that goes to it is never really yours, it just happens to pass through you on its way to its true destination.

This is obscured by the fact that the more privileged can ride a cushioned elevator below that bottom, play for as long as it takes for them to feel good about themselves, and take the elevator back up, and then write an article saying "See! I lived on 3 cents a day/lived in a 100sqft house/didn't use electricity for a week, and here's what I learned!"

Sure, you tried living a frugal life for a while. But you never doubted that the elevator would be there to take you back when you were tired of playing. You never felt the Fear. That's why you learned nothing.

see, the one thing abt da2 meta talking about how we don’t know much of it is true bc it’s a story told by varric and whatnot is fun except bioware does kind of frequently retcon lore/ events in previous games anyways so theoretically finding out some stuff in da2 was actually this or that just doesn’t really have the same punch to me.

#like i dont want to be a buzzkill or anything but intent doesn’t feel to me as much like it wants to explore ideas of how #perception can differ from person to person. it feels in da2 more like a framing device they picked so they could directly set up #inquisition and sprinkle in foreshadowing in the varric and cassandra bits. and i think it accomplishes that well! #like i havent finished my da2 replay yet bc i know itd make me want to play inquisition n i wanna replay origins first lol #and it is fun hearinf varric go ‘and heres when stuff got REAL bad’ #but like the lore isn’t necessarily treated as solid in the first place. broad strokes are sure. but like. if bioware decides to take #something in a new direction they will just do it. #like. the warden could’ve killed leliana in origins but they had an idea for her in later games so she didn’t actually die #which like isn’t necessarily a bad thing. its just that i feel for to really dig into what varric specifically telling the story would mean #about the story then lore otherwise would have to be very consistent. bc otherwise what was varric’s influence vs the writers’ #idk maybe thats just me #also idk. i think the reason the writing is wierd and bad and awkward sometimes is bc the writing for da games sucks sometimes #like its fun for headcanon purposes but like..
