Kuusuke tells himself he only cares for Kusuo's wellbeing because it's no fun to have a sick or depressed or tired playmate. Any victory he has isn't worth it if Kusuo isn't in prime condition. The truth is he actually does love his brother but thinks he's too intellectually superior to feel those kinds of emotions. And even worse, he thinks his brother is too much of a God to even need his love in the first place. So he convinces himself that he only cares in order to have a challenging rival again. This makes Kusuo believe the same things about his brother and himself. That Kuusuke doesn't care, and he is too inhuman to need love.

what are your thoughts on Madoka and Sayaka's relationship? I always thought it was underrated for how complex and tragic it is.
Madoka and Sayaka's relationship function similarly to that of a knight and a princess, so both their friendship or couple pairing are interesting to me. It seems to be intentional that Sayaka was crafted with a knight motif in mind to click with Madoka's vulnerability. The tragedy is that Sayaka was way too young and inexperienced to be shouldering such expectations in a friendship. Taking up the role of a protector at every turn because she wanted to protect everyone has always been a contributing factor to how fast Sayaka burned out.
Contrarily, Madoka's struggle with her own helplessness throughout the show was also part of the reason why Sayaka said a lot of terrible thing to her, but deeply regretted her actions to the point where she succumbed to Witching out away from Madoka. Madoka, at least in this "final" timeline, was not there to see her own childhood best friend change into something else. To, in a way, "die", and be reborn as the same monster that all magical girls were hunting after in a frenzy. Homura was right that Sayaka brings Madoka grief — it seems that in almost timeline, since Sayaka becomes a Witch as long as she becomes a magical girl unlike Mami or Kyoko, Sayaka is a consistent source of Madoka's grief. Whenever Madoka becomes a magical girl, then, her aspirations are based on Sayaka's sacrifice and ideals, except Madoka actually has the power to "save everyone". I believe Madoka loved Sayaka as Sayaka may not have been an "effective" magical girl, but she was the one who was willing to sacrifice her soul for her ideals, regardless of how naïve they were. To Madoka, who was so ensnared by her sense of uselessness, Sayaka was the closest thing to an idol or a star for the courage required to be a magical girl. Sayaka's desire to make the world a safer and justified place for people was so inspiring to Madoka that even when Madoka becomes Kriemhild Gretchen, the Witch's whole gimmick is "creating heaven on earth, a Witch content only if there is no more grief in existence". A prospect deeply held onto by Madoka that even Gretchen embodies it.
It's probably why Madoka's wish to save all magical girls would definitely sound equally impossible to he audience and the incubators, but Madoka herself says, "If someone says it's wrong to hope, I will tell them that they're wrong every time." Sayaka was often called foolish for her ideals and hopes, and Madoka was the only other person aside from Kyoko who understands Sayaka's struggles so much that she outright tells people that Sayaka was never wrong — this is how Madoka protects Sayaka. Madoka would never want anyone to say any of the magical girls' wishes were wrong or foolish. It was how Sayaka also found her peace at the end of the show: to be understood and not viewed as an object that would eventually be replaced in the cycle of magical girls and Witches.
Madoka and Sayaka eventually learned how to protect each other. Sayaka doesn't need to suffer from her own overbearing expectations anymore, and Madoka can finally be something even more to protect her angel: A God.

One thing that always confused me about newsies is how literally to quote Pulitzer: all but ONE got away.
And I just don’t agree. While yes I get that is a tragedy in Jack being able to save everyone but one of the ones he needed the most I much prefer the far more realistic point: there weren’t all that many people coming out of that.
They were against, as phrased by David: the goons, an entire army, dozens of goons and the cops, and-
He got cut off, implying there was much more because he was ramping up to a whole list. There were literally dozens of grown men against a group of unruly street kids. And fun fact! Guns had been invented by then and cops did carry them.
I just don’t see how it’s possible they all got out
I think there were dozens of kids taken to the refuge, others shot and beaten to death on the streets with the injured soon to follow. Those who were injured crawling and limping out of newsies square to die in an alley or weeks later due to sicknesses and infections gained.
For the first time there are more beds than children in the Manhattan lodging house and when they have a bath for those who managed to make it back the water is still warm and clean by the last kid.

Jegulus conversation as a Born to die
Regulus: Don't make me sad, don't make me cry. Sometimes love is not enough. And the road gets tough, I don't know why.
James: Keep making me laugh. Let's go get high. The road is long, we carry on. Try to have fun in the meantime.
Regulus: Can you make it feel like home if I tell you you're mine?
Both: Choose your last words, this is the last time. Cause you and I, we were born to die

So sad to think about Loki who is about to time slip and Mobius notices this his first instinct in a panicked state is to pull him into a tight possessive hug in hopes of grounding and anchoring Loki to this time, this moment.
And geez the idea of either Loki slipping despite it all or them just staying incredibly still grasping onto each other for dear life afraid to let go of one another is so 💔✌😁

There's something that pains me so much about this scene.
Tumblr media
The Director confirm that Wall-E's way to say "I love you" was by the hand holding action since the movie didnt had dialogue and they had to find a way to express that without Eve or Wall-E saying those words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SO THIS WHOLE PART. IS EVE. TELLING THAT TO WALL-E.
She is saying "I love you" to him, even if he is "not there anymore". And it's more painful when she starts to hum It only takes a moment and gives Wall-E a goodbye kiss...

New ship(?)
Now im going fucking nuts on this idea but hear me out! Spoilers for e6 ahead.
Walter Essner x Herbert Bruckner.  It was an obvious, low-hanging and not very juicy fruit from the start but HEAR ME OUT!!
They came as a pair haha( thank you @invisiblegargoyl for pointing this out). Do what you want with that information.
Being the only germans they could communicate with each other without the others( except Halévy) understanding.
Also they most likely felt a bit like outcasts, even if the others said they trusted them it must have been obvious that they didnt let their guard all the way down with the pair around. I mean Augustin didn’t trust Essner for five cents.
During their entire stay with the SAS they stick together, maybe this is just what happens when there is only one other person from your homecountry around but I’d like to think that they became pretty good friends during their time together.
Then it was that look on Essners face when he realized Bruckner had betrayed them, it looked like the entire fucking sky just crashed down on him! Who knows how long they had known each other? Even if they met through the Free French they would still have spent like two or three years together, in the military that is a long time.                                They had spent hours laying in their cots, talking about their homecountry, their families and what they would do when the war was over. They knew each other better than any of the Free French, both being alone and slightly outcast, but at least they were alone and outcast TOGETHER. (Or so Essner thought.)
What did Essner think in his last five seconds? There must have been a quizillion questions filling his head and the look on his face perfectly reflect this. Who was the person he had gotten to know over the years? Was the things Bruckner had told him true or just made up lies? How long had he planned on betraying the Free French? Had he planned on doing it from the beginning or had the thought grown over time? In that case could someone have done anything to prevent it? Could Essner have done something to prevent it?
The final question is this: what is more heartbreaking? Bruckner lying about everything and just pretending to be friends with his fellow German, and Essner being, in a sense, alone all this time OR Bruckner genuinely liking Essner, letting him close and still doing what he did?
CLEVER THINGS IN THE COMMENTS!
