ooh, i like those too! may i ask your reasoning for each? i’d like to hear someone’s thoughts on the matter!

i personally see kyouko as someone who is more aligned with the hunt. she’s very straightforward with her objectives after her deal and became very thrill-seeking. i haven’t been able to think about how the slaughter would fit her better yet.

oh sayaka my poor darling… she represents the downfall of a magical girl’s descent to despair to a T and that indeed fits a narrative of being conditioned into the hopelessness of the desolation, burning bridges and everything else down with you. i got reminded of jude perry’s quotes on how she kept burning herself out because she didn’t know what else to burn, until she embraced being an agent of destruction through the lightless flame, which could mirror sayaka’s self-destructive cycle, downward spiral and further disillusionment with everything around her, which transforms her into a witch. “is this world even worth protecting?" are some of the last words we hear from her before she becomes an agent of despair, drowned in it completely. i can also see her easily falling prey to the lonely, trying to take the world on her shoulders and insisting on not needing anyone and trying to be this lone, self righteous hero that she believed mami to be while every other magical girl is selfish and lacking the morals needed for their task. peter lukas would have a field trip with her if he could or if the desolation didn’t catch up to her first. perhaps she’s a bit of both, like martin’s deal with the eye and the lonely. what’s certain is that her avatar transformation would be due to unwilling conditioning.

what i’m most curious about is your reading on mami. she is, symbolically, an anglerfish that lures the girls into the world of being a magical girl. she becomes their role model for something very dangerous, and her impact is felt profoundly even after her death, as her ideals of her facade haunt the girls throughout the story, specially sayaka. madoka (besides homura through her countless rewinds) ends up being the only one who truly knows a glimpse of the real, terrified and lonely mami beyond her facade of a role model that contributed in dooming them. i don’t know how the eye would grab a hold of mami, though. the eye is about watching others and knowing too much, and mami not only doesn’t fit the curious nature the eye predates upon, but also could barely handle the truth of what magical girls truly are, her first instinct after knowing the truth being killing her friends and then herself to prevent witch transformations.

Trying to start by assigning characters based on Jon's Marks from the Fears, I think Glenn can maybe be Jude Perry. Which gives me sad ideas about Nicky being an Agnes Montague parallel :3

So so far I have Web (Mr. Spider), Corruption (Sparrow), Spiral and Stranger (Hermie), Desolation (Glenn), End (Link) and Lonely (Bill with Normal). I could write off Hunt and Buried if I could figure out who to make a Daisy parallel, but I think that part of the plot may be super not 1-1.

the DANGANRONPA-ISM CHARACTER SONG COLLECTION! this is a small collection of songs, one sung by each character on the cover (junko enoshima, yasuhiro hagakure, celestia ludenberg and sayaka maizono), by their official japanese voice actors.
