OK, I'm sure I'm far from being the first person to think about this/it's obvious to most people, but I'm on another Hannibal rewatch and was thinking about Hannibal as the devil. They make that imagery pretty obvious, but this time around, I noticed how he actually offers favors in exchange for souls.
Like Paradise Lost Satan, he is unimpressed with humans and does not know why God thinks they're so special. He sees them as animals to be humiliated. He devours their souls by eating them. He sees them as weak. He finds it easy to set them up in a tight situation and offer them the darker path. He sets Abigail up to kill in what would have been self-defense and offers his help to hide the body. She agrees, her soul belongs to him. The same happened with Bedelia. He helps Margo and Alana and makes it clear he will be coming for Alana's soul. Bedelia cuts him to the chase to have a sense of control and keep her own soul.
I can't decide if Jack Crawford is another victim, or maybe he is God? He's kind of a shitty father figure to Will and essentially offers up Will's soul to the darkness as a test.
But of course Will is special. He is even emphasized as a Jesus figure (they literally put a halo over him in the angels episode). Hannibal thinks he understands all humans and he is bored with them, but Will actually sees him without even meaning to (who's whose therapist amiright?) Hannibal plays his little games on Will to see what he will do, to see if he can get his soul. However, Will doesn't react the way others do. He is set up to kill Abigail's father, and it destroys him. He wants to make ammends and raise Abigail. Hannibal uses this to his advantage to essentially trap Will in a relationship with him. He sets Will up, but even when all the evidence is against Will and he is in prison, he does not offer up his soul in exchange for Hannibal's "help." Hannibal realizes he doesn't want to be rid of Will. He doesn't want to just consume him anymore. He wants an equal who understands him, a companion. By the 3rd season, Hannibal realizes that if he wants Will's soul, he'll have to give his own back in return.

Firefly Part 2-Hotaru Haganezuka x Reader
Summary: The hunt for Haganezuka continues though training Tanjiro is your first priority, that's until Haganezuka makes a sudden appearance. Without a sword, fighting will be complicated especially when the village is attacked leaving you no other choice but to protect those dear to you.
Tumblr media
(Ahhh we got Haganezuka's face reveal in today's new episode😍 he looks so handsome! I've been waiting for the reveal since the first season ended. Please enjoy this new chapter and a third part will be written soon once the 3rd season ends.)
"Not only Tanjiro has to train either! You don't want to be known as the lazy Hashira, do you?!" I felt a pang in my chest, that little boy Kotetsu had no shame in saying whatever was on his mind.
I'm older than Tanjiro but not that much. Since Kotetsu saw me telling Tanjiro to train his hardest, guess Kotetsu wanted me to do the same.
Defeatedly, I was laying on the ground after a life few hours of training. I had gotten rid of my haori since it was getting in the way of training. Tanjiro was a lot more tired than I was, the poor boy was having trouble having a few sips of water.
"Both of you deserve this." Kotetsu presented us with our favorite desserts.
"Thank you Kotetsu!" Tanjiro cried now having huge bites out of his food.
I smiled looking at him and took a bite of my own dessert and savored every bite until the three of us heard rustling coming from a few bushes behinds us, we felt the ground shaking and we quickly stood up.
"Is that another demon?! No it can't be, it's still daylight."
Kotetsu hid behind Tanjiro and I. Both of us preparing to fight at whoever or whatever was coming towards us.
"Huh?" We tilted our heads and saw that a person came out of the forest. It was none other than Haganezuka.
"Wahh!!" Tanjiro and Kotetsu screamed.
"H-Hotaru?!"
"Mr. Haganezuka!"
Tanjiro and I stared surprised to see him make an appearance since it was clear that he was avoiding us. "So, you finally showed up, huh?! About time you showed your face!"
I pointed my finger at him and slowly lowered it feeling an intimidating aura coming from out of him. Though despite that, a deep blush spread across my face when I saw him up close.
Haganezuka seemed very different than when I last saw him. He seemed a lot stronger and muscular than before, though I don't know how he looked back then behind his clothes..wait what am I saying?!
Stop saying those things, he looks different sure but still wears that hideous mask.
"Where's my sword?!" Was the first thing I blurt out.
I felt Kotetsu tugging onto my sleeves. "(Y/N) don't get him angry!" The boy cried continuing to try and get me to step back.
Like little kids Tanjiro and Kotetsu now stood behind me with Haganezuka slowly walking towards us.
"I have heard your story. I'll take it from here.."
"Take what from here?!" Kotetsu also asked.
What?! Tanjiro and I exchanged looks. Haganezuka's hand reach between us and we saw him gripping onto the sword Tanjiro found when he fought against Yoriichi Type Zero.
I gripped onto the handle and Tanjiro did the same when Haganezuka tried taking it from him.
"What do you think you're doing?!" Tanjiro asked when Haganezuka began forcing his way to grab the sword.
"I'll take it from here."
"Take what?!"
The four of us beginning to fight against him when Hotaru continued to repeat the same thing. Haganezuka isn't using his full force, if he did he would've already taken the sword from us if he wanted to.
"You are not taking it from us. What do you mean by 'I'll take it from here' anyways?! Why have you been avoiding me!" I huff beginning to pull the sword successfully.
"I went to train and get stronger just so I could forge you a better sword!" He shouted back. "Just shut up and leave it to me!"
"He's gone insane." Tanjiro mutters.
"You can't just come out of the blue and say that. It makes no sense."
"No, it belongs to Kotetsu."
"Leave it to me means leave it to me!"
"And I asked you what you meant by that!" Tanjiro said with the three of us trying out best to fight against Haganezuka who was dragging us towards him.
"Ahhh!" The three of us screamed when Haganezuka handled the sword and threw us back.
I hissed rubbing my butt when I fell next to Tanjiro. "Ow! What kind of a grown up does that?!" I huff and quickly stood up ready to fight him despite still feeling pain.
"Why did you even go into hiding? Are you scared of me?!" I shout looking up at him.
"As if I'd be scared of a short Hashira as yourself!",
"Listen boys.." we stayed silent when we heard another male voice with us. From behind Haganezuka his partner showed up. I recognized him since he usually accompanies him on his travels.
Mr. Kanamori.
"Mr. Haganezuka's weak spots are his sides." Kanamori said beginning to tickle Haganezuka's sides.
"Ehh?" I watched as a grown man began to laugh until he fell onto the ground over that simple action.
Kanamori stopped tickling him and stood before us. "Hey, long time no see Tanjiro, (Y/N). Mr. Haganezuka always goes limp for a while after being tickled. Please forgive him. You see, he's been hiding out in the mountains, training."
While Kanamori spoke, Kotetsu who was by my side continued to throw pebbles onto Haganezuka.
"He trained harder to forge you both a new strong sword, so that you won't get killed."
My mouth immediately closed when Kotetsu said that all of the sudden said that. He went to get stronger..just so he could make me a better sword?
My eyes widened and I felt Kotetsu moving me back and forth when be saw a blush on my face. "Still that doesn't answer the question on why he's been avoiding you." I heard him mutter.
"Not that he'd ever admit that." Kotetsu added. "Oh, look he's, revived."
Haganezuka all of the sudden jumped up on hai feet. "I shall take this rusty sword into my care, and using the nichirin sword polishing art of the Haganezuka family. I will restore it."
"Then why didn't you say so from the start? Instead of 'Leave it to me' when you have zero trust built up."
I stared down at Kotetsu, this small boy surely had a strong attitude. The bot was suddenly lifted off the ground by Haganezuka threatening him again, Tanjiro and Kanamori ran to Haganezuka's side and tickled him once more.
I remained silent continuing to follow Haganezuka, watching his back while we continue to walk in silence.
"I don't need a Hashira to escort me back to the village." He said glancing back at me, with me seeing the side of his mask, only a few curly black strands poking out from the cloth he had.
Kanamori told me to follow Haganezuka to his place, especially since he had given Tanjiro a sword and didn't bring another one.
"I know. You can manage that yourself, but I want to make sure you don't go into hiding again. Besides I need a sword too." I say and he didn't respond.
Strange how he's suddenly silent and not bursting like he did back then. I pick up the pace and now am walking beside him. I continue to look forward but felt him glance back down at me.
"I spoke with Tecchin earlier.."
"What does the old man want now?" He growled.
"Nothing serious. He was just worried about you, all he said is that you went into hiding..now I know it wasn't."
I blush and stared down at my feet remembering the words he said. 'I went to train and get stronger just so I could forge you a better sword..'
Turning back to look at him I smile, "You didn't have to do that you know. Get stronger. All this time I thought you just didn't want to continue being my swordsmith. I'm happy to know that I was wrong, Haganezuka."
I smile and blush staring up at him and he looked down and quickly away. I could see a blush spread across his mask somehow. All he did was groan a bit.
"Just call me Hotaru if you'd like."
My smile grew bigger and I giggled. "You know I stayed up late last night and noticed many fireflies. They reminded me of you since your name means Firefly correct?"
Hotaru remained silent not wanting to talk further. I smile to myself feeling happy that I'm at least gaining his trust.
"I think it's a cute name."
"It's not a cute name!!" He shouted all of the sudden.
He's definitely so cute! I continue to blush and noticed how tiny I look compared to him. I don't know what he looks like under the mask, but I think I'm in love with him.
Maybe..maybe it's the reason why I decided to come to this village and start looking for him. The only thing that came across my mind before arriving to the village was looking at Haganezuka again..
"I'm sure you've been working your very best, Hotaru. I know you don't hear this often, but I'm really thankful for your dedication and I'm extremely thankful to continue being your client."
I heard a slight noise and tilted my head to see small bubble like things floating around Haganezuka's face. Is he flustered? I've seen Tanjiro's friend with the boar head do the same.
"It's only natural for a swordsmith to go through the same difficulty as a Hashira." Hotaru simply said and huffed again.
The two of us arrived back at the village and I followed him to his home, I entered when he did and saw many types of swords displayed, so this is his working spot…
Haganezuka turned his back to me and placed the sword Tanjiro found next on a table.
This is his home then. Does he live alone? Does he even have a wife, if he does I shouldn't be here. Why do I even sound disappointed at that?
"I'd say make yourself comfortable but you better get back with the kid. I'll be extremely busy with both swords which means I won't have time for your annoyance. I'll need that."
He pointed at my swords handle. I took what was left of my sword out and handed it to him. "Take any of those swords displayed on the wall. They are unfinished but it's better to have a sword than nothing."
I huff my cheeks but decided to not say anything about it, that'll surely make him kick me out. "I'll be with Tanjiro if you were to need me." I said and began heading my way back into the forest.
I continued to run throughout the woods searching the any of the demons that came out of the Upper Moon Hantengu. I continued to run ignoring the pain on my chest and ears, I reached up and felt blood coming from my ears and felt more flowing down my face from when the demon slashed above my eyes.
I gripped my sword and noticed how chipped it was, it'll be no good. I won't be able to decapitate a demon with a sword like this.
I stopped running and could feel, no, smell something. Something rotten and hideous. It can't be another demon! Another Upper Moon is here?! And the smell is coming from opposite of me.
Where is Muichiro? Is he handling the other demon?! Somehow both demons smell powerful. Tanjiro is fighting alongside Nezuko and Genya who is Sanemi's brother, in my opinion I'd rather face a demon that deal with his older brother, but still! I have to make a choice wether continue moving forward or help Muichiro our and protect Kotetsu and Kanamori.
Almost the entire village has been destroyed and unfortunately many swordsmith were killed by the demons. On my way to help Genya, I had been thrown off further than Tanjiro and tried locating where I can find more villagers to save them. It's been a few hours and surely Haganezuka must have at least finished part of my sword.
I won't be able to decapitate one with the one he gave me. I do hope Haganezuka finished it. Though finding him will be rough since demons keep appearing before me, one of Hantengu's other halves or some big ass fish keeping me from going any further.
Many villagers and nice people I met here have died trying to defend their home, so I won't let the demons harm Hotaru any time soon.
Hotaru was in his home forging the swords, but I'm sure he must've left as soon as the demons in invaded the village. Now it'll be a bit harder to locate him.
I stopped running further where I was supposed to and turned back around, I'm still far away from where Muichiro and the rest are! But I can smell blood, many dead villagers ripped apart and fish like demons all around.
I'm sorry Tanjiro hang on a bit longer!
"Ha!" I jumped up onto a couple of tree branches and could see more fishes up ahead. I held onto my sword tight and swung it down into the demons when I jumped back down onto the ground. Their cries were heard once I pierced their skin and killed them.
More demons continued to appear but I chose to ignore them and continue moving forward, if I stop I'll only be letting more people get hurt.
I noticed a small shack up ahead, I came from the other side of continued to run forward until I jumped up and kicked the window open making the glass shatter into pieces. I swung my sword at the demon and heard a small cry come from him, until I heard it laugh when I ran and stood in front of the swordsmith, protecting them.
"(Y/N)!" Kanamori exclaimed when he saw me.
"Are you both alright?" I shout looking back.
Kanamori and Hotaru are here! I finally found them! I glanced back and my eyes widened when I saw Kanamori bleeding alongside Hotaru, he seemed to have taken the worse but was still finishing up with my sword.
Such dedication! But how dare the demons harm them both! All I could see was Hotaru's back, with blood pouring out from the wounds and his broken mask next to him.
I decided to not look at him for his privacy, since I know the villagers hide their faces for protection.
The Upper Moon charged with it's tentacle like arms and continued to slash forward, I hissed but held my ground and took the cuts instead of Hotaru and Kanamori.
The demon continued to laugh when he saw me glaring at him, when he saw I didn't move from tm spot. "How cute! A girl protecting two strong human men. I hope your insides look as good as the outside, Oh! You'll look lovely on a vase."
"And how dare you kill innocent villagers for your amusement! I'll be the one to kill you instead, so stop talking and fight me, demon!"
I grabbed the sword and rose it up ready to attack but I froze and stared at it surprised when the sword was suddenly cut in half. What?? Only the handle of it was left on my hands.
I could feel the demon grinning at his actions. I clenched my fists and continue to stare my ground, I feel my legs shaking but didn't dare to move. If I were to die then so be it! It's the reason why I became a Hashira.
"Whatever happens don't you dare die, Hashira!" I looked back and could only see the side Hotaru's face when he said that to me.
I nodded my head and continued to stand in front of both men. I raised my fists ready to give it my all and end this demon. I can sense Hotaru is nearly finished with my sword, so I'll hold up and fight with all I've got!

Sins of the Father - Pt. 1 "Richie"
Synopsis: AU 3rd season episode of The Bear. Carm makes a startling discovery, and must navigate the fallout.
Warnings: just a lot of cursing and smoking for this installment (later parts will also have drinking, mentions of domestic violence/crime)
Word count: 1,993
Author's note: This is my very first fic posted to Tumblr, honest feedback appreciated but please go easy on me! I'm new to The Bear fandom and have hyperfixated this silly AU fic into existence, if it sucks then I probably won't bother posting the rest. I hope you enjoy this long, strange trip :) (Oh, and I had to make up a first name for Mr. Berzatto because nobody says his name in the show. Cheers!)
Part 2 | Part 3 ___________________________________________
The sound of a few distant gunshots echoed around the alley behind The Bear, but it had that bouncing, ricochet quality that meant it was far enough away to be someone else’s problem, not his. Carm took a last drag on his cigarette and tossed the still smoking butt to the pavement, stomping it out with the sole of his non-slip sneaker. Exhaling the last of the drag, he glanced over at the lone streetlight above the parking spot. It was strobing, the ancient bulb still trying to provide light but dying nonetheless. “I’ll have to get the city out here to fix that,” he thought.
“Hey Carmy, somebody’s out front to see ya,” the new guy, Connor, had his head stuck out the back door.
“What? Who is it?” It was the middle of the night, an hour or so after service ended. Who would show up to the restaurant at this hour, asking for him?
“I dunno, he says he’s your dad? Or somethin’?”
Carm felt like he’d been punched in the stomach and slapped across the face simultaneously.
Not ready…
Why now…
Why here…
On his sharp intake of breath, Connor’s eyebrows lifted in confusion. “You want me to tell him to get lost, errrr?”
“Ah, no. No, that’s okay. I’ll— I’ll be right there.”
Connor nodded and stepped back inside, leaving the door open for Carmen to follow. Carm rubbed hs index finger against his bottom lip, considering the empty doorway. Not ready…
As he passed through the kitchen and toward the front of house, the flurry of activity that usually followed dinner service was winding down. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Sydney and Marcus talking low about something over near the prep area. He did his best to hide the fact that the thought of them dating, of them being together, made his blood boil. What right did he have to be jealous, though? It’s not like he deserved someone as beautiful, smart, and talented as Sydney. He was broken, and the whole debacle with Claire had proven that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Marcus is good for her, she’s good for him, and I’m not good for anybody.
Passing into the dining area, he noticed a chair that hadn’t been pushed in. Someone must have missed it when they were straightening up. He stopped to put it back where it belonged. Old habits. Or maybe just stalling to avoid the awkward interaction he was about to face. Taking a deep breath, he hit the door and stepped out onto the sidewalk in front of The Bear, expecting to see the father he barely knew, the one from the pictures, the one that had walked away from him and everybody else all those years ago.
But what he got was– someone else.
Instead of broad shouldered, salt and pepper haired Jerry Berzatto, he of the deep set, dark eyes and craggy features that looked so much like Mikey’s it hurt, the man standing in front of him, taking a long drag on a Parliament, was pretty much the polar opposite. He was on the taller side, close to six feet, slender build but still muscular, kind of a wiry guy. His wild shaggy hair, haloing his face in the glare from the streetlight, was gray, but more like a light brown gone mostly to lighter blond, not like it had once been black. Not like his dad’s would have been.
“Heeeey, you must be Carmen, the head honcho. You got one for your old man?” The stranger popped his cigarette into the corner of his mouth and took a step forward, offering Carmen his now free right hand for a shake. Instead of doing likewise, all Carm could do was stare. Stare directly into those piercing blue eyes– his eyes. The world tilted on its axis, and he took a step back.
“Wh-who the fuck are you?”
The man’s lopsided grin fell, and he reeled his hand back in, reclaiming the cigarette. “What? Didn’t your Ma tell ya I was gettin’ out this week?” He paused, looked for recognition in Carm’s eyes. Seeing none, he threw his hands out. “Didn’t– didn’t your Ma tell ya anything?” Silence. The stranger rolled his eyes. “Sheeezus, that is just like crazy Don. Just like her, that fuckin’ broad, I swear,” he rubbed his lips with the fingers of his free hand, clearly agitated.
Just like I would do.
What. The fuck.
“Who are you, man?”
His question was ignored. “I bet she ran around the whooooole neighborhood tellin’ everybody that you were Jerry’s kid. And just who did that crazy bitch think she was foolin’?” He gestured broadly toward Carm, “I mean, look at ya.” He shook his head in apparent disbelief, taking another long drag. Then mumbled under his breath, more to himself than anything, “Jerry’s fuckin’ kid, heh, get fucked.”
Taking in the ratty bomber style leather jacket and threadbare jeans that must have come from some lower end thrift store, like the Goodwill down on Washington, the gaunt, sunken cheeks and hollow eyes, the badly faded neck tattoo that could have been a pair of dice, once, possibly? Or maybe they were dominoes? It all suddenly clicked into place. Carm’s rage flared, hot and jagged.
“Look, I don’t know who the fuck you are, or what kind of shit you’re tryin' to pull, but you need to get the fuck away from my place. Whatever you’re sellin’, I don’t want it. Did somebody put you up to this? Did Richie put you up to this?”
The man cocked his head to the side, any and all traces of friendliness suddenly evaporated. He flicked the cigarette into the gutter, took another step forward as he exhaled a cloud of smoke. There was anger now, barely simmering under the surface. “Look, I may have been doin’ time for the last 30 years and maybe I coulda called once in a while just ta ask about ya, but me being gone doesn’t change the fact that I’m your Dad, and-'' he stopped, stuck his hands in the pockets of his jacket, looked down at his busted Nikes, and sighed. Although it obviously pained him to swallow his pride, he had to admit defeat. Softly, almost a whisper, “And, well, I guess I could use your help. Maybe a job washin’ dishes or–”
And there it was. “Get the fuck away from my restaurant. If I ever see you near my place again, I’m callin’ the cops and tellin’ em that you’re down here flashin’ women on the street in front of my place of business. They’ll get here quick.”
The stranger’s mouth set in a thin, hard line. Even that small detail struck Carm as vaguely familiar, as if he’d seen the expression somewhere before. You have. In the mirror. The tall man retreated a couple of steps backward on the sidewalk, shaking his head again. “I should have known. I should have known you’d be just as psycho as she is. You go ask her, ask her about Sam Miller. If she hasn’t pickled herself by now, she’ll tell ya exactly who I am.”
He turned on his heel, and Carm released the breath he didn’t even realize he’d been holding. What the fuck is going ON? Without waiting to make sure the guy kept walking, he bolted back into the restaurant and locked the door.
“Cousin? Everything okay out there?” Richie was standing in the doorway that led to the kitchen, looking concerned.
“No, ah, yes, no. I don’t know.” Carmen leaned against the door, pressing his forehead to the cool glass. He was still gripping the deadbolt, as if he thought Sam Morris was coming back to try to force his way inside.
“What’s goin' on?” Richie moved across the darkened dining area, coming to stand beside him. He peered through the tinted glass, straining to see out.
“My, well, my uh,” Carm swallowed, started again, “It was some crazy guy that showed up, trying to say he was my dad. Did you like, pay some guy to fuck with me?”
Richie got very still. He didn’t say a word, just stared. It looked like all the blood had drained from his face. That, or he’d seen a ghost.
“Richie.”
Nothing. Richie Jerimovich speechless was a scary sight to behold.
“Richie? Do you know who that guy is?”
His brother’s best friend finally turned to look at him, and there was so much sadness there. Whatever he was about to say, he didn’t actually want to say it. The reluctance was palpable in his voice.
“That guy,” another pause, he really didn’t want to have to say this, “that guy is your dad, Carmy. Your real dad.”
“No, I don’t believe you. You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Carm.”
“Nuh uh, there’s no way. I don’t– I can’t– I-I”, he could feel the panic rising in his chest, tightening, getting harder to take a full breath. He was getting out of control again.
“Carmy, calm down. It’s gonna be alright,” Richie pulled a chair over to where they were standing, “here, sit down for a second.”
Carmen sank into the chair, hand pressed to his sternum, rubbing. Just focus on breathing, in and out, in and out. Don’t think about those eyes. Your eyes. Don’t think about that, think about anything but that.
“Look. Me and Mikey were just kids when all this went down. We were old enough to know that some shady shit was happenin’, but the adults didn’t really tell us anything. Sam was a guy that worked with your dad doing electrical stuff. Remember? And your mom worked in the office for the electrical company? Before they bought The Beef?" he stopped to make sure Carmen was lucid enough to be getting all this. He sure as shit did not want to repeat it.
“Uh huh,” Carm nodded to show he was following along, and for him to continue. Focusing on Richie’s voice, on his words, was helping him calm down.
“So, from what I know, Donna and this guy had some kind of thing goin’ on, behind your dad’s back. It didn’t last long but it was, ya know, long enough, obviously. Anyway, your mom got pregnant and that Sam guy split. We never saw him come around again.”
Carm stopped rubbing his chest and looked up, “So Mikey knew. And you knew. Who else knows? Does Nat know?”
“Ah, no I don’t think so. She was still really little when all this was going on. Nobody ever talked about it after, either. I think we all wanted to forget that it happened, and move forward with like, life, ya know?”
Carmen couldn’t help but grunt and shake his head at that one. Sure, just forget it all happened. Just move on, pretend it’s all okay. Except it wasn’t, not for him. This changed so much.
“I can’t believe I didn’t see it before. How could I not know? I always looked different from them, felt different from them. Never really fit in. Not really.”
“I don’t think you wanted to see it, Cousin.” Richie put a comforting hand on his shoulder. “Why don’t you head home, me and Syd can make sure everything gets finished here and lock up. If that prick has the nerve to show his face again, I’ll make him wish he hadn’t.”
“Yeah, okay.” As he headed toward the back of house to grab his stuff, he paused.
“Richie?”
“Yeah?”
“Don’t tell anybody else what’s goin' on. This is my business, and I don’t want any drama. Not Fak, not Syd, and definitely not Nat. Please.”
“Of course, Cousin. Whatever you say.”
Carmen nodded, and turned to leave.
To be continued....

well! I finally got that free time I was waiting for so I managed to take a lot of photos of the g witch season 2 volume 2 blu-ray box featuring our very own el presidente guelito jeturk! 🦁🎉 I'll put them all under the read more where I break them down by sections, too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
first section is the outer box, of course, and can I just say. if somebody sold even just the outer box on mercari (like somebody did for shaddiq's cover, I remember reading somewhere), I would be so tempted to buy it. handsome boy notwithstanding, this thing would actually make such a handsome and fun a5 document holder! the red is just so attractive to the eyes and check out that gold stamping! like the whole thing just really looks so executive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and I really love the choice of foil silhouette, too. this is guel's revival from the penultimate version of the season 2 opener. his choice of dialogue has...far too many...ellipses...for...my tastes...but we know how important it is to his arc so it belongs there. I just wish they got rid of even just one ellipsis cause it doesn't make sense without the drama of the source scene.
Tumblr media
here's the rest of the contents of the box! there's the actual disc box, a special booklet in guel's primary colors, then two sets of end cards, one for the anime and another for the audio drama
Tumblr media
aside from the handsome boy at the front, the other part that convinced me to buy this blu-ray volume is the stunning spread of the darilbalde by ippei gyoubu as the disc box jacket. now I can finally say that I own one of his artworks!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the close-ups are just to show the gloss and the material used
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and here are the actual discs! and a sneak peek of my curtains oops. I haven't had the time to watch/listen to the cds yet but the red one contains episodes 16 to 18, the season 2 digest (I think this is the one narrated by noto mamiko-san?), the 2nd and 3rd versions of the season 2 opener and the jeturk house's audio commentary of episode 17. and by jeturk house, I mean everyone's voice actors, of course: azakami youhei for guel, takeo otsuka for lauda, takada yuuki for felsi, hirose yuuki for petra and yamashita taiki for kamil.
the silver one is for the two audio dramas: sophie and norea before the dawn (of fold) and izakaya prospera (which is a modern au setting where the jeturk's business is a flower shop which vim manages because his boys are too into basketball).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the special booklet talks about the episodes, the characters, the world, and has some special interviews from miyahara youhei who is the technical director and kodera shouta, director of photography. if anyone's interested with these interviews, please let me know and I'll take clear photos!
(by the way, the line at the side of the episode 17 summary is guel's oshi line, "I'm grateful to you. Currently, he is working hard to rebuild Jeturk Company, and is supporting Miorine, with whom he has teamed up, to become the company's next president.
During his lifetime, Vim Jeturk secretly worked with the Shin Sei Development Corporation, introducing the GUND format into his company's next-generation concept model "Schwarzette'' and proceeding with its development.
CEO: Guel Jeturk

and lastly, here are the end cards! I thought about just taking a photo of the front but the artist credits (and icons in the case of the audio dramas) are at the back and I didn't want to leave them out. the first two photos are the audio drama end cards while the last three are the anime ones. they're fairly thin and they're not glossy! check out the reflection on the episode 17 end card.
if anyone is curious about other parts of the blu-ray volume that I excluded from this post, please let me know!

Today, we enter the final 8 of tta. So, like last season, I will make a prediction. Hopefully I don't get the entire thing wrong again.
8th: Michela. Okay I know I have been saying Michela is next boot for like, 6 episodes now. But I just KNOW she's going today. Especially with Max back now. Sorry she doesn't win in the period piece.
7th: Scary. Challenge is a chick flick. I don't think they'll be able to do the challenge all that well. Idk to me, Scary and chick flicks do not match
6th: Scruffy. With Scary gone, Scruffy starts freaking out even more bc of how much tta isn't like tda. And the one person they had with them is gone. Idk how this relates to the noir challenge, but whatever
5th: Max. Goes insane without Michela. Que Max crying edit. He can't do the mockumentary. Idk how but he's medically evacuated
4th: Fren. What is a meat pie western. Idk. Fren.
3rd: Sha-Mod </3 Listen as much as I want a Sha-Mod sweep, this season feels like it belongs to O and Peter. Peter with his girlfriend feels like a Beth move. Peter finale spot confirmed. And O. O winning just feels right. So sorry sha-mod
Idk if we're getting 2 different versions again but if we aren't, O is the winner

Hi hello Tumblr, long time no see, I haven’t been here for who knows how long, anyways I’ll cut straight to the reason I came back to post this thing and will dip again.
So let’s talk about Belos.
Ever since episode 1 of the 3rd season of The Owl House has aired, I had this theory in my head that just clicked right for me. And it is regarding our behated villain, Emperor Belos.
So, from what we know about the Wittebane brothers is that they arrived in Boiling Isles after being lured by a witch, Evelyn, who in the end made Caleb fall in love with her as well as she fell for him and the two married and were to have children when Philip attacked and killed his brother and began his journey to become a supposedly immortal dictator ruling over the civilization on Titan’s body. We get the gist of what occurred during the events presented to us in Hollow Mind, in Belos’ memories, but there’s still a lot of questions that might be crucial for us to get a clear picture what happened at the time the brothers were in the realm by themselves.
Where did the curse Belos was trying so desperately to control came from? Where the brothers inseparable at all times since they first arrived in Boiling Isles? If so, why didn’t Philip do something about his brother marrying a witch way earlier? What actually lead to Philip taking such a drastic turn and killing his only familiar in the unknown land? His hatred for witches or something none of us really payed attention to?
Answering the 2nd question - No, I don’t think that Philip and Caleb stayed together from the moment they arrived in Boiling Isles. And I think two of the portraits in Belos’ memories could back up my theory.
Tumblr media
In here we can see the moment Caleb was lured into the unknown by a witch and Philip (still looking like a teen/late teen at most) followed after them (pic on the left) and then Philip (seemingly a late teen or young adult) standing alone in front of the Isles, either already exploring them or about to explore them.
The brothers weren’t together through their first years in Boiling Isles, they might’ve entered the portal at same/similar times, but they didn’t travel them together.
What I think happened was Caleb started meeting with Evelyn, trying to keep it a secret from his brother and people in their village. Possibly he didn’t feel like he belonged in the witch hunting thing going on and opposed it in secret, so when he met Evelyn and started hanging out with her, he started feeling at home. Philip caught wind of something not being right with Caleb and followed him one day, only to find him following the witch to the graveyard where the original portal was and (maybe) where the two lovers would easily meet, in a place no one could spot them.
Once Caleb entered the portal, Philip checked it out himself and went in soon after, or he returned home, wrote a note about what happened, gathered some stuff he’d need to save his only family and then run through the portal himself. Both possibilities seem fairly probably
Now, once he arrived in Boiling Isles, there obviously was no sight of his brother or the witch who “kidnap” him. But Philip wouldn’t give up started searching for them, simultaneously exploring the new place he was sent to. That’s when he began writing down his journal and documenting everything he experienced in it.
He was young, so maybe that new place fascinated him so much that he started to doubt his previous hateful beliefs on witches, since they were able to live in such beautiful but dangerous place.
But somewhere along those lines, he came across the goo that would be not only his, but also many, many others’ demise.
Why goo though? Wasn’t what he was going through a curse of some kind?
Maybe, maybe not, but from what I gathered, the thing that Belos was in the episode doesn’t feel like a curse to me. Just look at how Hunter could be easily controlled by it just because he came in a contact with it. It infested him, ate him away and took over control of his body to the point that once it left, our boy was basically dead. If getting in contact with it ends up in it being able to completely take over you and kill you in a matter of days, what was it able to do in a span of centuries?
This is how i think it went: Philip was exploring the Isles for a few years now and hoping that soon enough he’ll come across his brother, who he haven’t seen since the day he ventured after him into this foreign land. He stumbled into a weird place and immediately started to describe it in his notebook, when he started feeling very uneasy about the place, as if something was watching his every move from every angle of the place and preparing for when to strangle him when he least expects it. He left the place as soon as he could, thinking that he’ll feel better once he’s far from there, but when the feeling wasn’t going away he started to get concerned. He didn’t know that the supposed water droplet that landed on him while he was still in that place would be what he’ll become in few years, maybe even just months.
I think that goo was a sort of parasite, that once it gets in contact with the targets slowly but surely takes over them and plays them for it’s own benefit. A bonus could be if it was super effective with non-witches, as they didn’t have as strong immunity to the parasite as ones who have the magic organ patches to their heart from their birth. Which would explain why Hunter got possessed by it so quickly.
The parasite was very present in Philips body and he could feel it inside of him, but he didn’t know how he could possibly deal with it since he never came across something like that. So he lived with it as it began to appear as a voice in his mind, pursuing his put-aside hatred for witches and manipulating his memories, feelings and beliefs in a way, that would make Philip unpredictable and murderous, killing the last bits of goodness in him.
Now, the goo didn’t kill him that quickly, it would need more time and power before it would be able to fully overtake him. Philip used palismans to feed the beast, or maybe to maintain it? Like, the monster in it’s real form was an aggressive being who would murder anything that came across it, so to keep it under control, Philip began hunting for either lost or left behind palismans, which when killed could give the goo sustenance and calm it down, so he could manage to maintain control for a little while.
I don’t think that Philip ever actually regained control due to that method, I think the goo just made him think he did to keep him from resisting it, while it already had full control over it.
And now we get to the reunion of the brothers.
Philip finally came across the main city in Boiling Isles, but preferred to keep away from it as he despised the witches very deeply at that point and didn’t wish to get close to them. And then, he witnessed unspeakable:
Tumblr media
His own brother, mingling with the witch that lured him there in the first place. This was the first time he saw him since the moment they were separated and what did his brother do over that while? He married a witch and expected a baby with her. That most absolutely enraged Philip and powered by the goo he decided to try and get what even happened out of his brother and possibly take him back home, as he planned from the start.
Tumblr media
To his surprise, Caleb welcomed him very happily when he saw him after all those years, even when Philip scared him half to death. He even hugged his brother when goo was overtaking him, which might’ve been a reason as to why Philip carved glyphs into his arms (he probably knew of them well already), to protect himself as much as he could from the goo. The embrace of his brother brought him back for a while, which was enough for him to see that what the monster was making him do was terrible.
But he wasn’t strong enough to put the stop to monster taking over his body, so in the end, furious about Philip possibly finding a cure for it if he were to take the control again thanks to his brothers’ help, the goo decided to kill him and make Philip the enemy of Clawthorn home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think only after that situation did Philip carved protection glyphs onto his arms, and maybe whole body, and I don’t know whether those glyphs working was a cost of palismans life or was it to tame the goo, but it didn’t work and Philip succumbed to being a puppet of a monster.
What happened afterwards is more clear to us, Philip gave away his notebook, started searching for a way back home and eventually became what everyone knew him as ‘til the end of his rule - Emperor Belos. I assume that somewhere in between all these he tried to play god and resurrect his brother, but to no avail, so he made grimwalkers in his image.
Look at all the paintings, they all seem haggard and in most cases almost destroyed and I think that it might be due to the goo as well.
See, there’s no way that Philip’s body would be able to stay intact for all eternity, his oldest human form seems to be staying in the time where he was 40-50 or bit older. Even if palismans had the ability to make someone appear younger or keep them alive for longer, I doubt that even with that the person would be able to stay alive for hundreds of years more than they were supposed to. So I’m pretty sure that Philip we knew of died not long after or maybe possibly before he killed his brother. He has been constantly consumed and exhausted by the parasite he couldn’t get rid of, so it was natural for him to eventually pass away. But unlike our parasites, this one wouldn’t leave its feeder’s body even when there was no use of it anymore - well, there actually was use of Philip’s corpse or at very least his appearance, voice, beliefs, partially personality and way of being.
Basically, the goo took Philip’s appearance and everything else and made it its own, with the last thing of actual Philip left in that monstrous body were his very own memories that kept the last sense of him alive, although they were fading away.
Why would the goo keep these memories once it created its own as Belos? The fact that Philip’s consciousness was still somewhere there in Belos’ mind could be an explanation to that.
Now, just because Philip was controlled by the goo into being the monster and dictator he was, doesn’t mean that he back when he was himself wasn’t a bad person as well. He was a part of witch trails after all and he brought many, possibly innocent people to death and I have a suspicion that he was naturally skilled in manipulation, which would make sense if that also was what the goo focused on and mastered over the time it resided in Philip.
Alright, so, I don’t know if anyone else made such a connection or had the same theory as me and if I’m original or not, or if this makes any sense, but it’s been sitting in my head for months now and I had to let it out somewhere. If something seems unclear I’m up for discussion.
Anywho, that’s all to it from my part

kaia gerber bookclub brief - cleo wade episode
(as a kaia fan these summaries will be more kaia centric than guest centric, if you guys would prefer me do more summarizing of things the guests say lmk!)
beginning bit with just kaia, says she's excited to try the prerecording thing because it takes away the pressure of being live/timed/cut off (austin i am ounce again asking you to fix y'alls router!!!!!!)
nooo kaia don't say you dogear your books nooo (it's okay i do too)
the way she says "hi!"to cleo at the 1:46 mark is SO cute i'm gonna trim it down later and post she's so baby girl
lauren dern is who introduced kaia to cleo
first question was asking cleo how she's found her voice in her writing- which kaia prefaced by saying she feels intimidated by poetry.
cleo brought up mary oliver and kaia mentioned that she also really liked her
kaia saying she researched by reading past interviews cleo has done was a real cute moment wah she's such a sweetie
i assume this was filmed a while ago bc of the following:
"i had a friend say to me the other day- i'd rushed home from a really long flight and it was her birthday and i rushed to a dinner and i was so tired but i was like i need to show up for everyone this is what i have to do. and she goes- she was turning 28 (so this was ayo then? the flight i assume coming back from paris)- "i can't wait till you turn 28 and you text me and you say i'm tired i don't feel like coming i love you." she's like- i'll be so proud of you."
realizing midway through that was about ayo made me read it in her voice typing it LOL friend of the year!!! she truly seems like such a great gal
next question is about forgiveness and remembering love even when it's hard. really liked cleo's answer to this essentially saying that everything can be seasonal f you look at it a certain way and to embrace the nature of things.
kaia saying friendship breakups are harder than relationship breakups and that they feel like open wounds that live in us...soooooo real.
skipped typing the 3rd question oops but it was about showing love to yourself
4th question: how do we move forward from [unhealthy] things we've learned especially from our family dynamics
cleo mentioned being obsessed with a guy in her twenties and kaia's little exhale laugh (17:42 time stamp) made me giggle...#real i'm obsessed with him too dw!
topic is moving to social media, kaia says she tries not to go on it very often
5th question is about what social media has done to people's empathy.
while i listen to cleo: there's a few jump cuts and i can't help but be a little nosey about what was maybe edited out but i think that nosiness defeats the purpose of what they're talking about rn so maybe i shouldn't say that haha
kaia said it's reflective of how she's doing when she chooses to obsess over the one negative comment as opposed to the positive ones. bby ):
"i think social media has made it so these thoughts that we convince ourselves no one else would ever notice about us are written for everyone to see"
i'm glad she has her comments off for herself but man it makes me sad that she sees the nasty shit people say else where.
generally speaking listening to this niche of talk from celebrities is always so interesting in that i'm like wow so true! while at the same time typing this on a gossip blog and in a very big way being a "part of the problem". much to think about.
cleo talked a lot about people thinking celebrities belong to them and kaia very much echoed all of that
kaia circled back to the positives of social media and talked about the march for our lives. as someone who has on and off worked with march that made me smile! jaya, laura dern's daughter occasionally goes to events too lol i have friends that have met her.
okay now we're getting to the blurb that she posted on Instagram so i feel like summarizing that would be kinda redundant haha
but kaia holding her book open with her hair like this is sooo princess belle core.
i like this format a lot better than the instagram lives tbh
for some reason it's easier for me to pay attention?
little end bit with just kaia. her little thank you to the viewers was so youtube vlogger core but in a very endearing way. okay miss youtuber!!!
and that's it! excited for the revamp of book club that seems to be in the making and the future of it. you can tell that kaia loves doing it and i like listening to her!

i recently listened to 1989 (taylor's version) so here is a list of songs i think belongs to jessica whitly (i should probably studying for my mid-terms but...):
welcome to new york - pre-canon jessica, before martin.
out of the woods - her view on her relationship with gil. taylor swift herself said that this song is about a person who has so much anxiety about her relationship, someone who just fears that the other shoe would drop no matter how good it is, and it's SO jessica.
bad blood - martin whitly.
how you get the girl - whatever happened between her and gil in season 2.
clean - her after what happened to martin. what was it that she said to gil in season 1, episode 9? all the time, i keep thinking that we'll get through it; get through him? this could be interpreted differently because of her problems with sobriety, but i interpret this with the aftermath of martin's discovery. she keeps thinking that she'll be clean of him, that she'll forget, but she's still in limbo. like what she said to ainsley, he could haunt her forever. BONUS:
"slvt!" - now this one is a bit reaching, but this is how i'll imagine jessica would have been about her relationship with gil if there had been a 3rd season. she's finally letting go, ignoring what the public thinks about her, FINALLY just letting herself want to be with gil.

line of sight
Five seasons in and I have a hankering to write about my fav minor charries. -w- *Note: This is set during and after s5e11, "Heroes."
Fic: "line of sight" [FFN] [AO3] [pfio]
Pairings/Characters: pre?onesided?Ian Lim/Kelly Moran, Elise Taylor, Isobel Castille, & Jubal Valentine, with cameos from episodic charries & mentions of others
Rating: K+
Words: ~3,430
Additional info: romance, friendship, angst, fluff, 3rd person POV
Summary: Jubal relies on them in the JOC, to be in the JOC. But it's hard for Ian to focus when Kelly's in that bank.
Only a few minutes have passed with Ian relocated to the conference room to work in anxious peace while he communicates with Trust National Bank's cybersecurity team. Isobel keeps wandering in and out of the room, pacing like a wild animal cornered, her orders sharp like bared teeth as she hovers, as if it'll do him or Kelly or Jubal or any of those hostages any extra good.
Line after line of code sprints before Ian's eyes, and he asks the security rep to repeat himself, because his mind can only take in so much information right now. And his focus is split: Code. Kelly. Code. "Sorry, come again?"
      "Look, Agent Lim—"
"Oh." The title sounds wrong to his ears, so Ian can't help but go on autopilot to correct the guy. "Uh, I'm not a Special Agent, just an analyst."
"…Mr. Lim," the rep settles on, "we're digging through the source files as fast as we can, but there are really only a handful of options we have. Your best bet is to find the account holder and use the biometrics as intended." The representative's tone is tired but not unsympathetic.
Ian's fingers leave his keyboard for a moment while he pinches the bridge of his nose and squeezes his eyes shut, tight. "I understand," he replies through gritted teeth. "Please, just work as quickly as you can and pass along whatever data you can to me. I can't stress enough, how delicate a situation we have at the Brooklyn location."
A pause on their end. "Understood." And then the rep's end is filled with the soft quiet of keyboard typing.
Ian takes that as a signal to resume his end of this work, too. Things are almost peaceful for a bit before his ears prick up, hearing the slightest whoosh of the glass door opening, and he braces himself for Isobel's next useless order that will only add to the weight pressing down on him—
But it's not Isobel. That soft shuffle on the carpet? That belongs to Elise, and his colleague and friend steps inside but doesn't draw close, as though she knows the last thing he needs is someone else hovering. Instead, she places on hand on the nearer end of the conference table and gives it a gentle tap. "Ian, hey."
He spares her a glance and mutes his call with the cybersecurity team as well as his end of the comm with Jubal. "Any chance you're here to tell me things have been resolved out there and I can stop this mostly fruitless endeavor?"
Elise shakes her head. "No…I wish." She goes quiet.
And yet, despite her silence, he can feel her eyes on him. Ian swallows a lump in his throat and clenches his teeth. "Elise," he begins, "is there something else?"
She exhales. It's a short, huffy sort of sound, and it draws his attention back to her. When she catches his eye, Elise asks, "Ian, have you given your hands a rest at all?"
"They don't need a rest. I've only been at it…ten, fifteen minutes, tops."
Elise's eyes widen, and her expression makes Ian question just how much time actually has passed. But Elise's shoulders slacken. "Well, then. Can I fetch you a snack or something to drink?"
He appreciates the thought, he does. "Thanks, but no thanks," Ian answers.
Elise nods and, setting aside whatever drew her to check on him in the first place, returns to the JOC.
Alone again, Ian scans a few more lines of code. But then he decides to give Elise's suggestion a shot, and he lifts his fingers from his keyboard.
When they're not typing, they shake something awful.
That's why he resumes typing right away (after unmuting the cybersecurity team and Jubal's comm, of course), because he's not wholly unaware of the way his nerves are getting to him today. He just— He wasn't ready for Elise to recognize his nervousness, to pick up on it and to empathize.
The thing is, Ian's mind is abuzz with too much right now. He's here, in the adjoining conference room to the JOC, trying to get the info Jubal will need as a fake locksmith so the Salazars won't shoot the place to hell. But his head tells him that he should be out in the JOC, where he belongs, because that's how things are supposed to be. He, Kelly, and Elise are Jubal's three right hands, essentially. Much as he told the cybersecurity rep, they're analysts, not agents. They're not supposed to get caught up in anything. And yet…
If that were true…then Elise never would've had that scare a couple years ago with Vargas. And Kelly—Kelly would not be in that bank, with Jubal, with more than a dozen hostages, being held at gunpoint right now.
His mind works overtime, eyes skimming code while his memories play this morning in reverse. This morning began like any other, almost. It was as close to normal as possible, and Ian had thought it a promising morning, actually, considering he'd started his day with a call from Kelly.
"I…might be a little late," Kelly had said, although Ian heard the tall goof's usual smile in his tone.
"I was actually gonna call you about just that. Jubal's looking for you," Ian had stated. But the lilt in the other analyst's voice caught his curiosity. "Wait, why will you be late?"
"Well, remember the new coffee spot that opened up near my place, with the donut hybrids you wanted to try?" Kelly had sighed. "I thought I'd surprise you and bring in some for us to try, but I had a little altercation at the store, so I'm, uh, not sure I'm exactly welcome there anymore…"
The idea of gentle giant Kelly Moran being involved in any sort of altercation amused Ian then, much as it amuses him now. But that had been before 9AM, and Ian glances at the time in the bottom corner of his laptop's screen and—
Oh. Elise is right. He's been at this for a lot longer than fifteen minutes.
The realization is a sobering one, and he swallows a fresh lump of anxiety just as Isobel pops back in for a status report. Her words can be heard by the cybersecurity team, too, but they're quiet, leaving him to guestimate.
"Ian, Jubal needs a limit he can work with. Give him something reasonable. Something you think is deliverable," she says.
Ian's eyes dart between the telephone and his computer (thankfully his SAC stands behind him so his eyes don't dart to her, as well). "I-I don't know!" he blurts, because it's the honest truth. "Thirty? No, twenty minutes." He raises his volume and speaks with more confidence for Jubal. "Tell them twenty minutes, Jubal."
Jubal mumbles his thanks (risky, but Ian appreciates it—the man's a good boss), and Isobel lingers an extra beat beside Ian.
"I'm doing my best," Ian says—to Isobel, to himself, he's not sure anymore. "There's really no hacking into this system, though."
"There is a bypass code, though, Mr. Lim," the rep chimes in. Pages shuffle and flip on their end.
For the first time in what feels like forever, Isobel releases the breath she's holding. "Good. The second you have it, feed it to Jubal, slowly. We want this to end as quickly and painlessly as possible." And then she disappears back out into the JOC.
Ian, too, releases a little breath, but his eyes follow her out the room, and annoyance now wars with anxiety. Isobel's kept him away from the big screens all morning—for good reason, because if you want this delicate code sifted through, then Analyst Ian Lim is your best bet—but being in here… Being in here is all to help Kelly, he knows. But being in here means he's not out there, keeping an eye on Kelly, seeing what's happening in real time. It's the not knowing that frays his nerves this morning, making it hard to keep his focus on this impossible task of cracking the bank's security system. Not knowing what Kelly is up to is just fodder for the darker side of his imagination.
And, just as more and more ideas of everything that can go wrong multiply in his mind, the cybersecurity team directs him to the aforementioned code. Ian pounces on it and reads the lines that come before and after it. Finally, he starts to feel light—or perhaps it's just that this code is the metaphorical light at the end of the tunnel.
As if she senses the changing winds, Isobel pops back in, and Ian nods. "Then it's game time."
He blanches. They can't rush this. "Five minutes."
      "We don't have five minutes."
"If I give Jubal the wrong instructions, that metal grid will slide into place, and the whole system will shut down," Ian rushes, trying to keep his panic from leaking into his tone. "It will make it impossible to breach." He doesn't want to imagine what the Salazars will do if that happens.
Isobel appears to weigh this possibility, too, and she clenches her jaw. "…you've got two minutes," she compromises.
But Ian's not certain he'd call it a compromise. Two minutes, two seconds—time feels irrelevant today when they've got the weight of the world on them.
      "Ian, buddy…," Jubal prompts.
Ian nods to himself. "Okay. Connect the USB cord to the main panel."
"Yeah, that's already done." If Jubal's irritated with him at all, he hides it well.
"Now, type in the bypass code." Ian pauses for breath and carefully, slowly reads off each digit, including the dash.
…jeez. To think, all this security and it can be thwarted with a handful of characters entered in a precise order.
When he hears the final beep as Jubal presses buttons, Ian continues, "Good. Now, go to the scanner and—"
But Ian doesn't get to finish. The Salazars' paranoia is getting to the couple, and Jubal and Ian lose precious time while Jubal plays his role as affable locksmith, trying to talk them down, insisting he's "just here to help." Marco Salazar is most suspicious of Jubal, but the wife, Jennifer, is able to get him to focus on the task at hand, to focus on the deposit box.
Once it's safe to talk in Jubal's ear again, Ian clears his throat and supplies Jubal with the scanner's reset code. And…the computer system makes a high-pitched noise.
The Salazars are confused and question Jubal—the deposit boxes aren't opening?—and Jubal sounds just as frustrated. "Uh…I'm not sure…"
The shred of hope Ian got when he learned of the bypass code withers. "Jubal, did you type in the dash?" Silence on the other end. That hope withers away to nothing. "If not, that's why it didn't open. Try to stall," Ian blurts as he shoots back a message to the security team. "I'll see if there's a workaround."
Jubal does his best to play up the blunder and assure the Salazars it can be fixed. But the one camera feed Ian does have, affixed to Jubal's front, lets Ian catch a glimpse of the Salazars in the vault with his boss, and the analyst's hackles go up when he spies the object in Marco's grasp.
"Jubal, do not let him use that crowbar. It'll cause the security grid to activate."
And he hopes his warning gets through. Because, after that, voices rise, Marco starts swinging, and—
And of course the inevitable occurs. The grid drops down with all the finality of a body hitting the ground, and Jennifer Salazar wails in the background. The desperate parents reveal the reason behind their heist—their daughter's being held hostage by others—and Jubal once again tries to talk them down.
But his words aren't in the least bit soothing. The parents start talking over not only Jubal but each other, too. Isobel cuts in, insisting Ian's working on finding a solution but that Jubal needs to stall as much as possible.
Ian scrolls back through the earlier code, searching for something, anything he might've missed. And he does all this while ignoring the sorry look on Isobel's face, because they both understand this is out of Ian's hands now.
(But, Ian notes as Isobel walks back out into the JOC, Isobel's the only one willing to accept that likelihood.)
He catches bits and pieces in the background, of Scola trying to talk to the Salazars at the scene, of Maggie and OA reporting back that they're on the trail of the men who took the Salazars' poor daughter. Jubal, too, tries asking the bank manager to get their IT department to help, but Isobel points out that Ian's already done the same to no avail, that nothing can be done remotely.
The only thing that breaks Ian's concentration now is the feed on Jubal, when Marco tussles with him. In that instant, the sound from Jubal's earpiece fades to a distant whisper, and the Salazars push Jubal out of the vault, back into the bank lobby with Kelly and the rest of the hostages.
And that's when Ian knows. Even if there's a solution for the security system, they're out of time. And, since Isobel's not watching his every move anymore, he springs up from his chair in the conference room and joins everyone else in the JOC, because he has to know. He has to know that they'll be safe.
But Ian's eyes land on the big screens just in time to glimpse his favorite fellow analyst bravely, stupidly stand up, revealing himself not to be cuffed and to be FBI in one fell swoop as he extends his cellphone to Marco. Kelly exchanges a few words with him, somehow steady, but all Ian sees is Marco Salazar's gun aimed squarely at him.
With Kelly's line connected to them, they can hear everything, but that doesn't make it better. Even after Maggie and OA rescue a sedated Ella Salazar, robbing the parents of the need to carry out this plan. Even with Scola and Tiff getting ready to close in from the outside.
But then the team outside the bank is in position.
Marco hesitates the longer he stares Kelly down. The Salazars wonder why the FBI would call Kelly.
Don't tell them, Ian mentally wishes. "Because I'm with the FBI, too," Kelly answers anyway. He assures the distraught couple that the FBI has secured their daughter. "Just take the phone. Speak to your daughter. You'll see for yourself."
      "If you're lying…," Marco threatens.
"I'm not. I'm so damn nervous," he says, and some of his nerves leak into his tone in the form of a half chuckle, "I'm gonna drop this phone."
The parents finally trust him and accept Kelly's phone, and that's when Scola's team goes into action, a flurry of flashbangs and broken glass. More screams erupt at the bank, and some of the action is a blur. But one thing jumps out at Ian:
Kelly Moran, disarming and slugging Marco Salazar in two fluid motions, as if he does this every day.
…strange. The action's over, and calm washes over the scene at the bank, and there's a collective sigh of relief here at the office. Yet, somehow, Ian finds himself holding his breath once more.
Ian waits out in the hallway, leaning against the wall opposite the elevators, his arms folded, the index finger of his right hand tapping away against his left arm. His eyes are trained on the carpet, at a point just beyond the toes of his shoes, while he waits for another DING, for a particular arrival.
When the elevator directly across from him chimes, he lifts his head—and frowns, because the carriage is empty. It's not the worst thing in the world right now, waiting. It was hell this morning, waiting while he was chained to his laptop under the guise of "helping"…which didn't amount to much in the face of things.
The elevator diagonally to his right chimes, and the occupant's soft sigh gives him away, drawing Ian from his thoughts. Ian lifts his head again, and this time he does see Kelly. Tired and absolutely worn, but it's Kelly.
The taller man beams at him and meets Ian in the middle of the corridor. "Never been happier to be back on home turf," he jokes.
Ian opens his mouth—there's a lot he'd like to say after this morning—but he's conscious of the subtle tremor still in his hands and shoves them in his pockets before he asks, "Did you just get back?"
They fall into step, on their way to the JOC around the corner at an exceptionally lazy pace. Kelly shakes his head. "No, I've been back for a bit. Debriefing," he elaborates with an apologetic half smile, as if he meant to come into the office right away (or maybe let Ian know, at least).
Ian nods. "That's good," he offers. What else is he supposed to say? He could double-check later, but he's fairly sure there's nothing in the handbook covering when you're accidentally hero of the day.
"Yeah… Not an experience I thought I'd have. But, all things considered…" Kelly purses his lips, and his pace slows. The doors to the JOC are maybe ten feet away, and he glances at them before stepping to the side of the hallway, knowing Ian will join him. "Jubal insisted I go home for the rest of the day." He meets Ian's eyes. "It would've felt strange, though, not setting foot in here today."
Ian grins (and, ah, his facial muscles feel sore—has he grimaced too much today?) at that, feeling more at ease. "You mean it would've felt strange not to hover over my shoulder instead of using your own computer." Funny, too. He spent all morning irritated with Isobel's hovering, but it makes more sense to him, now that he's thinking with a clearer head, that he might've been irritated that she occupied a space typically reserved for Kelly.
They share a laugh at Kelly's expense, and the taller man blows out a long breath. "Fair point. Today, Ian…today was such a strange day. It gave me a lot of time to think…" That big, beaming smile softens into a smaller, goofy one right as Kelly goes quiet.
And Ian waits. He waits and wonders. He wonders if he weren't the only one concerned about that bold yet dumb stunt Kelly pulled with the Salazars hours ago… He wonders if he's not the only one thinking about how often they invade each other's personal space in the JOC… He wonders if he's not the only one thinking about how often they talk and text outside of work, even making almost-plans for coffee-and-hybrid-donut dates…
      "I…" His cheeks flush.
Ian's quota for patience with others has been met for the day. But he's got patience in spades for Kelly Moran, so all he does is cock his head forward encouragingly.
Kelly chuckles. "I wanted you to be the first to know: I'm considering applying to be a field agent."
These are absolutely the last words he expected to hear out of his friend's mouth today. Ian freezes and blinks, once, twice.
But Kelly waits. And waits. And waits—holy crap, he wants Ian's approval. Not that he needs it, but Ian's opinion matters that much.
On another day, Ian would be flattered. But all he can do right now is numbly nod, because the last thing he'd sign off on is "Special Agent Kelly Moran."
Except that's precisely what Kelly's dreaming of in this moment. Being a hero, not having coffee dates.
      "Y-Yeah…," Ian says. "After today, I can… I can see how that'd suit you…"
And it's hell, because the compliment, this seal of approval, makes Kelly's eyes light up as if it's Christmas. He even scoops Ian up in a big hug, putting him back down on the floor and chattering about applying and what FLETC will be like as they cross that final distance to the JOC.
Ian listens and nods when he's supposed to nod. But his thoughts are back in that conference room, back to this morning, back to when he couldn't breathe because Kelly was out of sight.
They are analysts, not agents. Kelly ran into some grade-A trouble thanks to bad luck today…and Ian fears his becoming a field agent will only invite more of it.
Done for the 5, 10, 20, 50, 70, 100 Fandoms Challenge as well as the If You Dare Challenge (for prompt #359: more trouble) in the HPFC forum on FFN. SO. Been with FBI since the beginning, have had some shippy thoughts and feels, but more than that I've had my fav minor charries from the beginning, and Elise, Kelly, and Ian are they. -w- I'm actually surprised I didn't write Elise already, but I had to write this idea when "Heroes" aired. Elise, Kelly, and Ian are sacred to me, *lol*, and I legit got the sense that Kelly might apply to become a Special Agent (à la Timothy McGee, for any fellow NCIS fans), but I also have lowkey shipped him and Ian for a while, esp with the whole invade-each-others'-personal-bubbles thing, and then this fic happened, writing a lot of the ep from Ian's POV. :3c I hope we get to learn more about Kelly and Ian since we got to know Elise better (I LOVE THEM ALL, as well as Papa Jubal, *lol*), and I'm so glad we didn't lose anyone (otherwise I'd be a mess TT-TT). Lastly, some dialogue comes from the episode verbatim. AHHHH, I just. I need to know more about the analysts…! (Also, more Scola, plz. And not just bc he is James Aubrey from Bones by another name. ;P)
Thanks for reading, and feel free to leave an anon/unsigned review via the FFN link or comment via the AO3 link at the top of the post, especially if you enjoyed this!

Wow, that's a lot of asks! I thought I'd just answer them separately, but as you can see a lot of them overlap, so I decided to put everything together under a cut haha
1. Favorite fictional characters this year.
I’m locking the door, we’re not leaving until 2024.
No but seriously oh my, there were so many! For the sake of shortening the list a little bit, I’ll choose 5 characters I’ve met this year, but I could spend hours naming all of them haha To illustrate, Jolyne Cujoh won’t make the cut despite batches 2 & 3 coming out this year, because batch 1 came out last year and she’s not a new character for me.
In no particular order:
1. Pochita from Chainsaw Man
2. Suzuya Juuzou from Tokyo Ghoul
3. Reigen Arataka from Mob Psycho 100
4. Anya Forger from Spy x Family
5. Okkotsu Yuta from Jujutsu Kaisen 0
2. Favorite ships this year
For this one I wanted to pick new ships as well, but if we’re being honest my year was dominated by one particular ship and it was fyolai. What’s funny is that I was more neutral towards at in 2021, I liked it, but I wouldn’t call it my favourite ship, and then I was doing my twilight meme saga and something in my brain just switched, I got an idea, thought haha just kidding…. unless?, and haven’t been the same ever since. The frenzy I was in throught the spring is indescribable and I literally did this to myself. Fyolai is the first thing I think about when I wake up and the last thing on my mind when I go to sleep. Someone send help...
…and more fan content
*histerical laughter*
3. Favorite TV shows to watch this year
My 2022 definitely belonged to Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure. Part 3 was fantastic and part 6 was everything I imagined it to be. I originally started watching Jojo for the sake of having context for part 6 and I didn't even expect myself to get so into this world, I'd pick up the manga. What a bizzare advnture indeed!
There was also the 2nd season of Vanitas no Carte which I'm a manga reader of, so I knew what was going to happen. But still, seeing it animated was amazing. The only issue I had was that some aspects could've been done a bit better and the vibe seemed a bit of compared to how the story was presented in the manga. Maybe that's because of the differences between the used medium or Bones having to make so changes for the anime to work better, but reading the chapters felt more serious. But animated Naenia is still one of my favourite fantasy horror creatures and I want more of her.
Then there’s Stranger Things season 4 with which I have a complicated relantionship. I loved the first volume and I wish it hadn’t been cancelled in the middle of the season, that’s so unfair! (for context: the 2nd volume was of course released as planned but I despise the last two episodes of that season with passion and would rather pretend that the show was cancelled than accept them)
Of course I have to mention Chainsaw Man (which will appear again on this list haha), because I'm a huge fan of the way Mappa animated it. First of all, seeing chcracters animated gave them so much life and let each character stand out on their own. The decision to do a new ending each episode was also brilliant and each weak I was waiting to see how the new ending would look. Finally, the soundtrack was absolutely perfect, both the songs and the OST.
Lastly, the end of the year brought a lot of joy with Mob Psycho 100 making a comeback. I finally watched it and yes, it deserves ALL the hype it gets. I wanted to watch it for a long time and was waiting for the 3rd season to end to binge it, and it was a wild experience. This show is just so wholesome, it even made me care about episodic characters (not Dimple though, I don't like him, I'm sorry Dimple Stans) and I'd happily watch season 4 if it existed haha
4. Favorite books read this year
Definitely Dracula! Dracula Daily is the best initiative I’ve seen in a really long time (maybe ever) and I’m incredibly grateful I got to read it this way. And the fact that it was so synchronized with 2022 was fate. I wished for my 2022 to be vampiric and homoerotic and that came true in the most unexpected ways.
5. Favorite song, album, or artist to listen to this year
*cracks knuckles*
Okay no no no, I will be concise, I promise.
For the song, I don’t really have one favourite, because it’s way too hard to just choose one haha And yeah I picked first death, but it's not a definitive number one just one of my favourites and a song I felt desrves more hype, because it's excellent.
The reason why I picked it is because it’s beautifully different from anything I’ve ever heard and I’m so fascinated by the layers in this song. There’s just so much going on in the instrumental and because it’s really fast-paced I had to listen to it a few times before I even caught all the elements. Of course I have to mentions the vocals as well, because they’re perfectly utalized. In a way I feel like they’re more of an intrumental than the instrumental? Idk if it makes sense, but I feel like we’re meant to listen to this loud and very present intrumental and so the singing is a bit drowned out by it? It’s like the vocals and the instrumental are one in this song. And there’s also a lot going of with the vocals as well, switching from whispers to screams, lower voice to higher voice, it simply sounds wonderful in this song. I also find the usage of chainsaw noises an amazing easter egg, because this song was made as the 8th ending of Chainsaw Man.
Similarly Chainsaw Blood by Vaundy also utalizes this sound and is one of my favourite songs of 2022 as well. I didn’t expect the soundtrack of csm to give me 2 of my favourite songs of the year, but it was a very pleasant surprise. And as much as film credits fit the first episode, it’s such a shame that this song didn’t get to be an actual cinematic ending like the rest, because for me it perfectly encapsulates the vibe of this story.
Now, when it comes to other new releases I’d definitely put:
Love Dive by Ive - this is like THE song of the year and it deserves every bit of hype it gets, it's stunning in every aspect. I've heard it so many times and I'm still exicted each time I hear it play
Cheshire by Itzy - it's so underrated! It's one of my favourite Itzy title-tracks and it didn't even get much promotion compared to Sneakers (which was an objectively weaker song. I have a lot to say about the way JYP has been messing up when it comes to Itzy promotion, but the fact that this song was a part of a 4-track mini-album instead of a hugely promoted full album hurts my soul
Talk that Talk by Twice - to me it felt like The Feels pt. 2 and as a well-known The Feels enjoyer I couldn't be happier. I really like that Twice is now doing more mature concepts and keeping their youthfullness at the same time. It's not an easy task, but they're doing amazing
Limbo! by Nature - if you want to check this particular song out make sure you watch this dance practice video, because it’s so hilariously silly, I’m in love with this choreography. I love it when k-pop groups do "silly" concepts
Lightning by Charli XCX - I will go back to Charli in a second, but I just wanted to highlight this song
Shinigami Eyes by Grimes - at first I wasn't sure about this track, but it grew on me over the year and I find this new era of Grimes really fascinating. Just give us more music!!
Pop! by Nayeon - a perfect way to end this list and one of the song I didn't expect to even come out, because I had no idea Nayeon was having a solo debut. One day this song just materialized for me and I fell in love right away
The case with albums is a bit different, because there weren’t many new releases I’d be really into, so I spent the majority of time listening to older releases and making my discoveries there.
One of the exceptions was The Gods We Can Touch by Aurora which is a phenomenal album, literally one of the best I’ve ever heard, and funnily enough, it was released in January 2022. It raised the bar so high haha
Another album from last year I especially enjoyed was The God’s Machine by Blind Guardian, which was their first album under this name in like 7 years and it was everything I wished for (but please, guys, don’t make me wait another 7 years next time haha).
And lastly there was Crash by Charli XCX and I was so surprised by this album, because for the past few years she’s kinda been the face of hyperpop and so I didn’t expect her to go back to her pop roots. The effect was fabulous and now it’s probably my favourite of all her projects.
Now onto the artists! Once again there were so so many. Taylor Swift had an album (which was great btw just not my favourite of hers), I discovered Queens of the Stone Age thanks to my dear jojosis, Grimes made me hope for the Fairies EP for the entire year (I’m literally begging for Book 1, c’mon now I need this album), it was so fun.
It was also an interesting year, because it turned out that Siouxsie and the Banshees is actually that awesome band I didn’t know the name of, which led to me saying well I might as well give The Cure a second chance, right? and becoming obsessed with them. I connected the dots. I connected them!
*has to log out to cool down her emotions*
7. Favorite TV show episodes of the year
I’m glad you picked this question, because it’s so unusual to just pick specific episodes. To maybe list a few chronologically as I watched them:
s4e1 (Chapter One: The Hellfire Club) and s4e4 (Chapter Four: Dear Billy) of Stranger Things were both amazing episodes. E1 started the show with a bang and showed us that ST has amazing potential and can balance wholesome moments with horror elements really well while also being incredibly aesthetically pleasing. E4 has a phenomenal storyline, the stakes were crazy, and the Running up that Hill scene was possibly the most cinematic moment of the show.
s5e13 (Kiss of Love and Revenge (1)) and s5e14 (Kiss of Love and Revenge (2)) of Stone Ocean were hugely an Ermes arc and this was exactly what I needed for her character. They were also done absoltely beautifully and the scene with Gloria’s soul was one of the best moments of the whole show. s5e27 (Sky High) was also an amazing episode and the worldbuilding was hilarious, because what do you mean Rikiel can see some weird rods?? I had so much fun watching it and trying to figure out what was supposed to be scientifically realistic and what was simply bonkers. To be honest this whole season was wonderful, it’s just that there 3 episodes stood out the most to me.
s2e1 (Ripped Apart ~Someone Is Watching~) of Mob Psycho 100 was the best opening for the season this show could have and the scene in which Mob helps Emi put back together her book is one of my favourite scenes of the whole show, because Mob used his ability to help someone instead of using it for fighting purposes. Personally I really like slice-of-life stories that incorporate supernatural elements in the daily lives of characters. For the same reason s3e7 (Transmission 1 ~Winter Break~) and s3e8 (Transmission 2 ~Encountering the Unknown~) were also my favourite episodes, because it was like a break from all the action. I wanted to have a full episode dedicated to the Telepathy Club and these 2 gave me exactly that.
s2e16 (Hollow Mind) of The Owl House is another episode I want to highlight. The whole show is excellent, but I chose this particular episode, because it’s so dark and nice. Belos is one of my favourite villains of all time and this episode really shows why.
8. First fandom of the year
I had to think about this for a moment, but I’m pretty sure Spy x Family was my first new fandom of the year. So far it’s been a great experience though if I’m being honest I didn’t expect it to become this big. I knew it’d be popular, but THIS popular?? I even have friends who don’t watch anime on a daily basis tune in and watch new episodes and that’s adorable. The power this family has!
11. Biggest squee moments of the year (For ye youths who no longer use such awesome terminology, that means the fandom moments that made your heart cry out in overwhelming joy. Can y’all believe that “squee” didn’t quite stand the test of time??)
Tumblr Sexyman Contest! Seeing people come together to celebrate a Twitter contest through fan art and memes was a really beautiful moment. And Toby Fox wrote a fic! Like, are you kidding me?? Literal creator of Undertale writing a fic about a sexyman contest?? That was so cool. I was lucky enough to get interested in this subject before it ended, so I could watch the chaos unfold in real time and it was one of the wildest fandom experiences in my life. Oh, I have to mention for those who don’t know – hours after Sans was crowned the winner, Queen Elizabeth died and people RAN with the idea to incorporate her death into the contest. Yeah, things really got WILD.
Idk if that counts as crying out in overwhelming joy, but when chapter 101 of bsd was released I just happened to be at home and the noise I made upon seeing the drowning come true as a prophesized was hilarious. Like yeah I know that 2 lives are in danger, but I was so happy to be right. I can't wait for another jail break arc chapter and let me remind you I also said that Chuuya will survive and that in this universe vampires can't drown because they don't breathe. Oh, and also the newest omake also made me squeek in joy. Higuchi my beloved.
I also have to mention Stranger Things once again, because I was so happy when I was watching the first episode. It had been a long time since the previous season, so seeing these characters again was really nostalgic. And with this season taking a more horror-oriented route than the previous one, I was also squeeking with joy upon those clocks and everything. Like poor Chrissy, but I was having so much fun sjdhchcjsk
14. Favorite m/f ship of the year
It has to be jonmina (Mina and Jonathan Harker), it simply has to. Jonathan mentioning her in his shorthand all the time, Mina travelling through Europe to see him and marry him in a hospital, Jonathan willing to become a vampire to stay with her, they really deserve the title of my favourite m/f ship of the year. The bar is now astronomically high.
18. Fandom that you never expected to get into
To be honest I’m such a choatic person, anything can happen, and I fully know it. It’s like expect the unexpected, you know? But with that being said, I would never imagine myself getting this into Chainsaw Man. The reason I started reading it in the first place was because I saw that it was finished, and if I was waiting for the anime, I could as well read it to kill time, right? Well, no one told me part 2 would be coming out in summer! I had to learn through youtube showing me a headless chicken animation recommendation for me to be like wait what I don’t remember this chapter?? and the rest was history. No but really, part 2 is so good so far. It fixed most of the issues I had with part 1 (which was great, don’t get me wrong, it’s just that there were issues which aren't present anymore so part 2 is even better) and I can’t wait to read more. Also the anime was finally released and I feel like watching it with sound and movement definitely helps the story.
23. The most missed of your old fandoms
I really miss interacting with the Taemin branch of the Shinee fandom. It’s not gone or anything it’s just that now Taemin has to complete his compulsory enlistment, so there’s nothing going on. Other members have solo activities, but because Taemin is doing his enlistment, group activities are on a hiatus and I have to wait for him to be back to get new content and new music. I’ll wait patiently as long as it takes, but I still miss his comebacks and seeing Shawols come together to celebrate them. But let's not end on a negative note, because we still get cat updates and Kkoong is an adorable little kitty!
And that concludes today's ask time! Thank you everyone who left an ask in my inbox and happy new year to all of you as well ^^

Just watched Goodbye, farewell and amen
- so much happened during just one episode and the future of these people changes so much over a span of just a few days. And their camp burns down with their personal belongings. Some leave Korea and they have literally nothing and I think it's unfair. Sure they wanted to tell us what will happen to these characters after the war but still. It's hard to comprehend with all the stuff happening and after they know they're going home soon and for some, their lives won't ever be the same anymore although they made through a war lasting 3 years just fine, it's so mean to change their lives so drastically with a truce being so close.
Yeah I know, that's war, there is no happy ending for anyone, but they just had their little adventures and were fine! We got the message at the end of the 3rd season, no need to rub the war under our noses so hard again. It's just so so much to unpack and I'm so filled with emotions y'all 😭

I'm going to translate my very first comic
That was my first experience in creating comics. It was called "The story of/about Nia", but only for 2 seasons and 10 episodes in 3rd, then it has no any name. There are only 6 seasons, 1-5 seasons has 12 episodes with 10-30 (more or less) frames for each episode. 6 season has 20 usual episodes, 21 long episode. And one episode that doesn't belong to any season, probably a special one.
WARNING ! I'VE BEEN DRAWING THIS IN 2016-2019 SO ITS CURSED AS HECK. ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE SO ITS HARD FOR ME TO TRANSLATE IT ALL. IF YOU GONNA READ THIS - PREPARE A PAIR OF NEW EYES AND HOLY WATER OR BLEACH I DON'T KNOW !
Now let's move on to the good news: – Im only translating this because I've been planning on making reboot since Summer 2023, that's gonna be called "Magicked!". I will remake the plot, characters and designs. Hoping only for good.
1.1 - "Meeting"
1.2 - "Jealousy"
1.3 - "Weekend"
1.4 - "Lets talk"
1.5 - "Sally's love"
1.6 - "Party at the school"
1.7 - "Talking pet"
1.8 - "Saving the Kingdom" 1 pt
1.9 - "Saving the Kingdom" 2 pt
1.10 - "Saving the Kingdom" 3pt
1.11 - "Saving the Kingdom" 4 pt
1.12 -"Saving the Kingdom" 5 pt
That's all for now. Also I don't know why the last five series are called like this, they're not even about it. I was so stupid ugh

Creating a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging is imperative to our company’s success. Through embracing and empowering our talented, diverse workforce and creative teams, we remove barriers to opportunity, open access to our industry at all levels, and help shape the most inclusive and equitable world for all.

Our leaders and our people are responsible for championing inclusion and creating a safe environment that promotes curiosity, innovation, and ideas from all people.
Pursuing Equity
Our commitment to equity is reflected in our policies, processes, and systems designed to accelerate and sustain DEI progress across the employee lifecycle.
Authentic Storytelling & Inclusive Productions
Our content reflects our commitment to audience representation, and our productions promote access, equity, and safety for our employees, staff, and on-and off-camera talent.
I think the most important part here is the first paragraph. It's tough to say you promote DEI, when your policy states that you want to remove barriers and allow everyone space for their voices to be heard and then you take away those voices as soon as they are heard.
Full list of MAX Originals programming (yes its Wikipedia, no I'm not going to fight anyone on its legitimacy)
I'm not putting the full list in here, so below is a list of any shows with a diverse cast/any focus on diversity (that I can find in the descriptions because I don't know every show obvs). For this experiment we will go with shows that discuss diversity (lgbt etc) or have 20% or more diversity in their cast, because I feel like being generous. Also, anything labeled a miniseries will not count since those generally do not receive additional seasons:
Gossip Girl- started 2021, 2 seasons (cast diversity)
Julia -started 2022, 2 seasons (lgbt themes, women in the workforce)
Tokyo Vice- started 2022, season 2 out Feb (cast diversity)
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin - started 2022, season 2 out Feb (cast diversity)
Love Life - started 2020, 2 seasons (cast diversity)
The Flight Attendant - started 2020, 2 seasons (cast diversity)
Generation - started 2021, 1 season (lgbt themes)
Made For Love - started 2021, 2 seasons (cast diversity)
That Damn Michael Che - started 2021, 2 seasons (black male POV show)
The Sex Lives of College Girls- started 2022, 3rd season airing 2024 (cast diversity. 1 wlw relationship)
And Just Like That... - started 2021, season 3 airing 2025 (cast diversity)
Our Flag Means Death - started 2022, 2 seasons (cast diversity, lgbt themes)
Minx - started 2021, 1 season (women sexuality, femininity)
Rap Sh!t - started 2022, 2 seasons (black women led)
Skipping kids shows and animation, and also removing any international shows that MAX picked up, this is a list of originals MAX has paid for and aired. My takeaways: they hate to do more than 2 seasons, they are great at making a cast look diverse at a quick glance (getting worse though, their new show Bookie was not high on a quick visibility pass through). They suck at anything past visuals- 4 of the shows on this list are "love and sexuality in life" type shows, and only one (Generation) had any hints of consistent lgbt themes. The other one (Sex Lives of College Girls) had one lesbian relationship that (from reading episode summaries) lasted 3 episodes then broke up.
And I didn't even try to look at religion or anything further. That feels like an exercise in futility

OH MY GOD my number one is hated in the nation too! 🫠
i know the show has bigger episodes in the context of sci-fi but that one has the perfect balance i think. like the national anthem is also a wonderful episode and the first thing makes it wonderful is it's closeness to reality. like i think that's one of the most likely episodes to happen in today. (the episodes that are close to the reality affect me more) and there's also black museum, full of science fiction, also great. but hated in the nation, it's obviously fiction with the bees and all but it also belongs today, if it makes sense.
i didn't watch the last two seasons, i refuse to watch (but i'm gonna watch your 3rd one for you), i think the 4th season was a great finale so my top 3 are hated in the nation, san junipero and hang the dj. (but i keep be right back close to me because domhnall gleeson is... well... domhnall gleeson.)
is it too obvious that i'm a hopeless romantic even in black mirror sksjkdjs
Hated in the nation is my favorite for the same reason.
It looks so close to our reality AND THE PLOT TWIST BLOWED MY MIND!
About the new season, I suggest you watch these episodes:
Loch Henry, Joan is awful (this one is so black mirror coded) and Beyond the Sea (my father, Aaron Paul, is the main character I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT BREAKING BAD IS MY FAVORITE SERIE).
The last two episodes were boring in my opinion, lol
...I didn't watch National Anathem because somebody spoiled me *that🐖* scene and I don't wanna see it💀
Anyway, Loch Henry has a special spot in my heart because I like true crime 👀 if you enjoy true crime media, you should watch it
PS: I love bendersnatch! I have unlocked all the endings, and well... WILL POULTER AS COLIN IS SO HOT

One morning, at a certain studio in Bangkok…
(Mario Kart Tour’s Bangkok Rush OST plays at the background during sunrise, but is soon interrupted by the radio news intro)
Radio: (In Thai) Breaking news: One of The Odyssey’s main host, Rosalina, had contracted a severe case of hepatitis A due to consumption of contaminated seafood, and is assumed to sit out of the shooting of the premier for a few weeks. With Daisy’s unfortunate motoring accident that injured her knee during the shooting, this only leaves Peach Toadstool as the only person to start the premier of the show –
(The radio gets turned off whilst Peach made her morning coffee)
Peach: (Opens the curtain, revealing the Bangkok skyline) Maybe I should visit my co-hosts.
(The scene then cuts to the morning streets of Bangkok, with Peach just exited a BTS Sky Train station, walking towards the nearby hospital where her colleagues currently resides.)
Meanwhile, somewhere on the globe, in a studio…
R8 tyke: …And so, I have no idea when will the next episode be.
Azelfland: Relax. This will be fine.
R8 tyke: Man, I am taking on different side hustles to make myself busy.
Azelfland: Man, look at me. I now make episodes and footages out of racing. Not only do I am paid in prize money, but also free content generation, this is a win-win.
R8 tyke: Eh, you do you.
Azelfland: Anyways… I wanted to be the guest on your show. Can I?
R8 tyke: Alright, but you have to wait for the 3rd episode. TF2014 took the one for the next episode.
Azelfland: …Anyways, what does guests do anyway?
R8 tyke: Just watch The Grand Tour’s season 1, The Odyssey is heavily based on that. (Proceeds to doodle something on his note pad)
Back to Bangkok, in a ward…
(Peach is staring at Daisy on a hospital bed, with the latter’s legs plastered and suspended from the ceiling)
Peach: Hello, annoying sod.
Daisy: Shut up.
Peach: Not so super, eh?
Daisy: Once I received my clutches I will piledrive that thing into your spine.
Peach: You are the idiot here. They told you to stop but you didn’t. That’s why you wrecked a hypercar and your stupidity are punished in the form of spending a few weeks in clutches and wheelchairs. Don’t shoot the messenger. I have one more idiot to attend to.
Later, at the ICU, Peach observes Rosalina through the glass of her isolation care unit, and proceeds to give her a middle finger. As a response, Rosalina returned favour by throwing a rubber item towards the window from her bed. However, Peach left before the item hit the glass. Moments later, as Peach exited the hospital, an anvil fell onto her head and killed her, Minecraft style.
Peach: …Ow.
