I was tagged by @clara-maybe-ontheroad on some fandom asks in a tag game. I normally don't think this hard about things I don't like, but here we go.

I’m still salty about it, so the stupid fucking amnesia plot in Minato’s Laundromat 2.

Honestly, it’s Handsome Stewardess because of the IPV and the way it was handled.

@angelsindeepconversation asked what is my deal with JittiRain in the comments (very kindly, super nicely, no hostility, just a question), but as many of you know, this is a floodgate.

First, let me state I cannot write a story to save my life. If an extraterrestrial being came down to Earth and told ME to write a satisfying story or else its alien race would destroy the planet, I'm sorry fam, but we'd all be goners, so I respect what JittiRain does.

BUT

For me, ME, and possibly only me, JR's stories constantly leave me asking "¿pero porque?" ("but why?"). Others can and should provide their reasons, but, FOR ME, the plot would be quickly wrapped up if the answers to that question were simple, but for some reason, JR never makes it simple. The plots always have to be outrageous and convoluted.

*spoilers*

I'll start with JR's latest offering, Vice Versa. If you watched the Our Skyy 2 special, you'll remember that Puen is worried he and Talay are falling out of love due to them not making time for each other. It was a cute installment UNTIL one of their friends came up with the idea of dropping off his toddler nephew in the middle of a rainy night on their doorstep in order for the two men to bond over taking care of a kid.

¿pero porque? - but why not a dog or something? Why an actual tiny human being who is being manipulated into this?

Puen figured out what was happening, yet went along with it.

¿pero porque? - but why not tell Talay who was stressing out? Why lie to the man you are actively trying to make a long-term relationship work with?

But then again, in the original series, Talay and Puen were together for over two years without Puen sharing his real name with Talay.

¿pero porque? - but why not tell Talay SINCE YOU LOVE AND TRUST HIM? and that's possibly the reason y'all can't return to your original universe for TWO YEARS!

But that's just my thinking, you know? And I'm also bias because I'm always asking these types of questions with JR's shows.

Theory of Love - Khai thinks Third loves him, so he decides to TEST Third. Third shows no signs of loving Khai, but Khai finds a video of Third crying as he confesses to liking Khai but being too afraid to lose their friendship to do anything, so Khai decides to HURT Third in the worst ways, so Third won't be in love with him and they can be just friends including kissing Third, calling him a girl's name, and lying to him about being drunk while he did it. ¿pero porque? ¿PERO PORQUE?"

2gether - Why not have Sarawat admit to Tine that he liked him for OVER A YEAR? Why all this strange stand-offish energy? (This was also an issue with Star in My Mind which wasn't a JR series, so understand it's just not JR). ¿pero porque?

Still 2gether - Tine and Sarawat have to be apart for a few weeks for *reasons* which makes Tine very sad because Sarawat never calls, but it's all good because Sarawat actually was at Tine's very first event since he has been in love with him forever which means that basic ass lie from the first season STILL POPS UP IN SEASON TWO! ¿pero porque?

Fish Upon the Sky - Mork likes Pi and has been Pi's ONLY friend for a while, but Mork's identity is a secret. When they meet in real life, Pi has no idea Mork is his online buddy and rejects Mork several times. Instead of Mork telling Pi "hey, I'm your online buddy," Mork just . . . doesn't instead opting to continue lying to Pi until he wins him over. ¿pero porque? Oh, and Pi's brother pretends to be a dentist to get his guy, and the lie runs so deep that he goes to a village to perform dental exams even though he doesn't know a damn thing.

So do you see a pattern here?

Instead of Puen telling Talay about the kid or his name, he lies.

Instead of Khai telling Third he knows he likes him, he lies.

Instead of Sarawat telling Tine he has always been there for him and always will be, he lies.

Instead of Mork telling Pi he is his online buddy, he lies.

¿PERO PORQUE?

The lies are so tiny, it makes me think why would someone lie about that, and strangely, JR never gives us a real reason. We can assume, but the narrative doesn't state that Puen was worried that Talay would not truly love him if he found out Puen was a big time actor (even after two years of Talay proving he would love him regardless). Khai realizes his error, but instead of telling Third, he runs away for WEEKS while his friends think he DIED, then comes back and gets upset at Third for moving on like he didn't do it to himself.

All BLs have issues, but JR makes the issue the entire plot, and it goes in a circle until I'm screaming "JUST FUCKING TELL HIM ALREADY!"

So to answer your question - Be My Favorite has no obvious lies right now. Pear knows Kawi is her buddy. Kawi knows Pisaeng is his buddy. Pisaeng kissed Kawi in the future so it's obvious he likes Kawi. Pisaeng knows Kawi likes Pear. Everyone knows everything . . .

except what we don't know, and that is what will kill us all.

Unless there is no lie.

Worst soundtrack / weirdest song choice in a BL The song playing in Palm and Nueng first time. It completely took me out.

Most cringe-inducing line (cute) DBK

Most cringe-inducing line (actually bad) Anytime Sarawat talks about boobs. I hate it with a passion.

Most stupid decision made by a character Oh God there so many. But really everyting Knock did in Together With Me.

Worst plot line Amnesia. Nuff said.

The most problematic show you've watched TharnType

A show people love but you find bad I don't know if people loved it so I'm just going off of the sheer amount of gifs on my dash at the time. Bed Friend.

A show people find bad but you will defend Theory of Love, all day, everyday.

A bad show that you would still recommend If I think it's really bad, I wouldn't recommend it.

The character that ruined a show the most Aoey. Lovely writer. Every time he was on the screen I just wanted him to go away.

Most awful character that you hated Plern. Prapai. For obvious reasons.

Most awful character that you loved Tod. Not Me. I loved every time he was on the screen.

A character that wasn't awful but that you just don't like Both sisters in both why r u. I mean they aren't evil... but I just… can't.

A hero that should have been a villain I'll borrow from @lurkingshan (if they don't mind) because I can't think of any others. The Wei Wuxian from the novel was just such a more complex character. The sanitized version of him is just way less interesting to me.

A morally bad character you're into Vee. I will defend him till my last breath.

The show that disappointed you the most Step by Step. It could've been so good.

i can't pick which hyperfixation to focus on so imma pivot in the opposite direction and just comment on all the dramas i've watched in the last couple months, both queer and not

2gether- Tropewise this should've been a home run but sarawat and tine just didn't vibe with me as a couple. If i was ranking it, it'd be like a 4/10. Basic, boring, those peep marshmallows with no depth of flavour.

Still 2gether- No plot but they had better chemistry this time. 6/10

3 will be free- 9/10, delightfully queer, I liked the side plots, i liked the main plot, point off only because Shin getting insecure and running off got repetitive.

A man who defies the world of bl 1+2- It was funny, i loved the parody aspect of it, probably would've liked it more if i had more than a cursory familiarity with yaoi as a genre. Liked s1 better than s2. 7/10

About Youth- It was fine? I liked it well enough while watching but it didn't stick out. Nothing you haven't seen before, rich/poor, popular/outcast etc. It had more of a queer vibe to it but i wish it lingered more, like old fashioned cupcake or itsay does. The love interest's best friend though, I loved. 5/10 because it's more interesting than 2gether and the chemistry was pretty good.

Bad Buddy: someone said that starting with this show was a bad idea because it would set the standards too high and they were absolutely correct. This show might as well be perfectly catered to me, it's got great chemistry, is fun to analyze, it's queer, it introduced me to Nanon, what's not to love. 12354678/10. Incomparable.

Be loved in house: I do - Office enemies-to-lovers. Very cute. Basic's only a crime if i didn't enjoy it and I did so 6/10.

Blacklist- The expectations I had for this show. Prim, Love, Ohm, Nanon, Khaotung, basically all my favourite gmmtv actors were in it and it sucked ass. I could've dealt with the growing ridiculousness of the school plot if the romances weren't the flattest, most cliche shit known to mankind. As it is, I didn't finish the show nor will I ever. Also watching this after Gifted is a special kind of hell because Nanon's playing the same character except written worse. -3/10.

Blueming -nothing special, I liked how the lead's family dynamics were portrayed. Like most kbls, too short for my liking. 5/10.

F4 Boys over Flowers. Believe it or not, this is the first version of boys over flowers i've watched. It meandered at times but was overall entertaining. I like useless bickering in my romances and Tu is charming as Gorya. Bright was pretty good too, I liked him better here than I did in 2gether. Milk's characters should've been in love with Gorya instead of Thyme though and the fact that she wasn't when they had so much chemistry is a crime. 8/10.

Business Proposal - As seems to be the trend with het kdramas, the beginning and end are both boring af, but the middle portions were pretty good. Both the romances were cute and I liked the chemistry between all the leads well enough. Also, i love a good running gag and it was funny watching everyone misunderstand the ceo and bodyguard's relationship. 7/10 because it's the first kdrama i actually watched til the end which just made the last ep that much more dissatisfying.

Rating BL's I've Watched Based on a Completely BS Criteria

Disclaimer, this is just for fun and a look back for me in my journey through BL! I am thankful and grateful to the hardwork that went into all the series I've watched. Please don't take the ratings or my thoughts seriously.

Also spoilers obviously

Long read ahead let's dive in woohoo!

Love Sick

This was my first BL and I do not remember anything about it other than Min (I forgot his character's name) and Om (I forgot the actor's name) because I literally only watched it for Min. All I know was how slow and unresolved everything was like I do not even remember if the main couple ended up together and I definitely know that Min and Om did not clear anything up shshshhs. I do remember Ssing and Oat's character had a storyline and I don't think that got resolved either. Remember Ssing, he will make an appearance in this post later.

Rating: 3/10 (respect for it bringing me into the BL world)

Make It Right

I remember even less about this one, other than Oat was in it lmao and he was a tiny character.

Rating: 1/10 (this is a rating for my memory rather than the series)

2gether

After Love Sick and Make It Right, I dipped for a few years before coming back because I saw a video on IG of that infamous 'keep looking at me like that, and i'll kiss you until you drop' and instantly I was like I gotta watch this. And not for a second did I regret it. It was amazing holy crap, I am such a sucker for easy ass romantic plotlines. Also the scene where Sarawat was telling his friends how he found the man he liked and he kept saying 'he's the one I like' and his entire emotions and behaviour is that scene was so urghghghghghhg, i can't explain it but if someone ever talked about me like that, i would husband them up so fast. also i liked the way they showed Tine's insecurities, I don't think shows often deal with male insecurity so it was incredibly interesting to see. ALSO TYPE KEPT GIVING ME THE BIGGEST FREAKING JUMPSCARES ALL THE TIME. When he showed up at the apartment and Sarawat opened the door, the way I screamed. I love him, he is my favourite character in the show lmao. Big up to the Chic Gang as well, I am glad I am not the only law student with no brain cells lmfao

Rating: 10/10 (probably shared No.1 position for my fave BL right now)

Tonhon Chonlatee

I watched this for Khaotung but the main couple was honestly very yikes lmao. Also they did my girl Miriam so dirty by the end. I'm so happy Na got a bf by the end, it's what he deserves but also he would have definitely made a better match with Chon. Also coming from 2gether where Gunsmile was adorable, to Tonhon where he was a disgusting man was too much. Pang was amazing, I'm such a sucker for characters who are literally just good fucking friends. AiNi <333

Rating: 4/10

Not Me

Amazing, spectacular, brilliant. I love action much more than I love romance, so I do like how all the romance aspects wasn't at the forefront of the plot. The only thing I didn't like was that BlackGram wasn't a thing. I think it would have been a much more interesting dynamic, especially at the end where it seemed like Black was displaced from his own group by White and he didn't get a happy ending despite everything so having Gram in his corner would have been better. Also because it kind of makes both Eugene and Gram bad people for cheating on their boyfriend/bestfriend. Yok punching Dan was so satisfying holy shit. Also TADAH SSING IS BACK UWU, my 12 year old fangirl phase was coming back in full affect because damn he is still so fine. Also I love a good friendship storyline as well, so yeah the entire thing with Black and Tod, chef's kiss.

Rating: 9.5 (loses points because of GramBlack and because as a law student, I had war flashblacks everytime Gram was arguing with Nuch)

Don't Say No

I love this series. I love Leo's character especially, he is the thing of dreams. Rich, nice and incredibly loyal. I also really like that he is well-tempered and only resorted to violence about twice and both times were out of protective instinct because 1) that guy called his bf a whore and 2) this guy basically forced his bf to sleep with him, so well deserved in my opinion. I feel like a lot of other BL men are just violent for the sake of violence which is a no-no. Fiat's fashion choices are also my favourite, especially that red suit holy shit balls. I LOVE BOTH THEIR FRIEND GROUPS OMFG, BUT ESPECIALLY AMP AND AEK, they are so protective of everyone but also very level-headed so I get why Leo is friends which them. Contrastingly, Fiat's friends are dumbasses <333. I need a whole series about the twins and their shady little selves. I like how they did the sees someone flirting with their mans trope, and how Fiat could definitely see that it was a scheme, finally a man with braincells (I say like I didn't just insult him in the sentence prior), but I also understood how he even though he knew Leo wouldn't ever cheat on him, it still hurt to see your man kiss somone else. Everything about Leon and Fiat's dynamic was superb, I just want them to get locked in a room together and see how long before someone dies lmao. My only qualm is why the series is called Don't Say No, if it is based off their basketball team, they should have kept Super Penguins omfg. Justice for LeonPob when???

Rating: 10/10 (Tied no.1 with 2gether, would be 11/10 if the series was called Super Penguins)

TharnType (spoilers! spoilers!)

This was a lot haha, I'm glad I watched it because the S2 introduced me to DSN but I don't think I'll ever go back or rewatch it. Definitely a lot of issues with how blase they seemed about some of the stuff that was happening. The only thing I really have to say is Lhong omfg, I saw spoilers of everyone on reddit being like he is the most evil character and I was there thinking he just seems like a good, cute friend to Tharn???? I did think he liked Tharn when they told him he was dating Type and he dropped the glass but I didn't think that was alarming. He was actually my fave character in the series until I realised I shouldn't like him according to reddit huehuhe. That baby-face really had me fooled. Otherwise, I don't know what my thoughts are tbh, Type is really handsome though haha. Most of the points go to Techno, he is the moment, he is a star baby. Also I hope Cir and Phugun from S2 get their own series, they are adorable.

Rating: 4/10 S1, 6.5/10 S2 (mainly for LeoFiat and CirPhugun)

Kinnporsche

Still airing but omfg currently obsessed. Mafia and psychopaths??? As someone who is an avid crime show fan, this genre hits. Also the entire cast is so fucking hot. I love toxic, complex relationships and loose morals and murder sprees. The versatility of Free Fall as an OST is amazing, it's both badassery music, romantic music and clown music

Rating: 10/10 (1 million gazillion billion/10 for Free Fall by Slot Machine, deserves a Grammy or whatever the song award is)

My Engineer

Before I started watching I literally only knew about Ram and King (I also didn't know that Ram was Perth lmao, he looks so different with his hair up) so I thought they were the main couple. So when I started watching and I was introduced to Bohn and Duen I was like who tf are these two? But no, this series was actually very fun to watched and I enjoyed it. Frong hitting his head was probably the peak of comedy. Season 2 when?????

Rating: 8/10 (10/10 for Talay's hair, what I would give to run my hands through it)

Cutie Pie (spoilers, spoilers)

No one understands how hard I cried in the first episode wtf. ALSO THE HIAS ARE SO HOT WTF. Hia Yi is so scrumptious. I love them rich, cowardly, emotionally unavailable besties. My favourite scene in the entire series is when Hia Lian called Yi 'My dear' and then Yi immediately shudders and tells him 'you give me the creeps'. They are two hot besties. I also think Nuer/Syn has one of the best kiss scenes I've ever seen in a BL, also Nuer is so goddamn good looking okay I promise I will stop focusing on their looks. The OSTs for this series are the best OSTs in my opinion, when will they release that song Nu Kuea sang in Ep 11. The secretaries need their own series as well. The scene of Hia Lian turning around with tears in his eyes after Nu Kuea rejected his marriage proposal was one of the most devastating scenes that has ever happened, and my ass at 2:30am when the episode premiered could not take it. 'I love that doll the most' is such a hard hitting line, I bawled like a bitch okay T-T

Rating: 9/10 (loses one point because of that cursed dog YiDiao are now the unfortunate owners of, 1000/10 for the Hias)

Secret Crush on You

Okay I saw a lot of people saying how the series gets so good near the end and you just have to deal with the first half of it. And I completely understand all of these people. The beginning is a lot and it's so cringey and horrific lmao. But by the end, the way this series deals with incredibly serious topics is amazing. Some of the characters in here are the biggest green flags to exist. By the time I finished the series, I was definitely thinking that it was so worth it. I highly recommend this series. I want to talk about two of my favourite characters - Inntouch and Som. Som, she is the best of friends. She is amazing, she is so helpful and caring and the fact she knows her friends so well and gets emotional when they are suffering is beautiful. I love her so much. Inntouch is just as amazing as well, the way he is incredibly respectful of Daisy and loves Daisy no matter what they identify as is such a green flag. Also the subtletly of his affection for Daisy is so good, like the way he instantly smiles just that bit brighter when Daisy talks is TOO GOOD. And that smile is freaking gorgeous, urgh love him. Everytime Saint appeared, I died a little, that man does things to me holy crap.

Rating: starts off like a 6/10, ends up a 9/10

Colour Rush S2/Tinted with You

I watched this for Hyuk and Junhee. I couldn't watched the entire series (at least not legally) so I am probably missing somethings plotwise, but hey, let's be honest, I wasn't here for the plot.

Rating: 7/10 (gotta support the homies, stan VIXX and stan ACE)

YYY/Y-Destiny/Why R U

Couldn't finish these, just watched YYY and Y-Destiny for Talay T-T

Something about Why R U was not doing it for me :(((

Rating: 0/10 (but I'm sure they are series people can appreciate, I am just not one of them and that's on me)

Watching the Be My Favourite trailer, I was pretty excited. It seemed like a good series (all the hiding and secrets aside).

Then I learned it's Jittirain.

I have watched (or at least started) all of her previous novels made series.

And in the initial stages, didn't like one single one of them.

I left and came back to 2gether (quite a few times) and Theory of Love (i broke off maybe twice). One of these made me cry and it wasn't Sarawat and Tine.

And i still haven't managed to complete FUTS. I can see the pattern though. And it makes me very skeptical of this upcoming show, especially because the tropes/elements in the pattern are more or less specifically the ones i actively try to avoid (with a few exceptions).

But they managed to do good out of ToL (I'm going to guess and say the actors are at least 70% responsible for that) in the end so here's hoping.

VegasPete BREAKING ME DOWN WITH THEN... I can't... How am I going to survive now??

I was getting really mad thinking that Vegas died, I was like "What? Really? Don't do this to me production crew. Please don't...", but, after that post credits scene... I forgive you for everything 🤣🤣🤣

IT WAS SO FREAKING CUTE. OMG... I can't even talk about how much I loved that scene. Macau being cute with his brother, oh my God. Biggest disappointment.

Enchanté. The first episode was really cute, but then, I don't know what happened. I loved the whole "Find the Enchanté" thing just to be the own Theo who wrote it because he wanted Akk's attention... And that last episode, what was that? Out of nowhere, after doing all that book scene to get Akk, he's leaving just like that?! And Akk's sister saying those things to him??? That's her way of helping?? Really disappointed.

And I have to mention Cutie Pie. It's not bad, but I guess I waited too much for too long. Since the first announcement that Zee was going to be in a new BL, I was sooo hyped, but when I finally watched it, it didn't get me. Still going to watch it anyway because I love the actors and I loved the other couples, but I got really lazy, unfortunately🥺🥺

My #1 post of 2022

Okay, I just want to put it out what I'm feeling right now after EP13, but I'm going to focus only on PeteVegas because, too much happened in this episode.

First of all, I just need to leave something very clear here: I didn't knew anything about the novel before watching the series so, I was really blind and didn't know what to expect. That being said, let's move on.

I still don't know what I feel when I think about them. I started watching KinnPorsche BECAUSE of VegasPete, I wanted to see them together. Them Pete got captured and I realized the road that they would go.

I'm completely biased by Bible, so I didn't imagine that I would HATE his character. And I did. For a moment. Now I'm... Confused cause at the same time I want to kill him, I want to protect him ("At the same time I wanna hug you, I wanna wrap my hands around your neck - P!nk")

Something I'm really enjoying is to see how everyone interpret their relationship differently, that's amazing. So I want to leave here what I think they have.

I don't think it Love. I don't think it's anything really rational. I think they developed a toxic emotional support that they crave above anything else. I genuinely think they can't live without each other anymore because of this bounding. Vegas gets better because of Pete, but also he can reach his peak of destruction for Pete too. The same for Pete. He has a pure heart even after everything he did and have been through, but he fakes smiles and happiness too much. With Vegas, he can show the evil part of himself without being judged of anything. They are literally like Yin and Yang. They need each other for balance. Pete needs Vegas to be mean, and Vegas needs Pete to be good.

It's not love, it's balance. They both know what they are doing it's wrong, but still want it ("Mama, I'm in love with a criminal and this type of love, it's not rational, it's phisical - Britney")

Also, the scene where Pete was "eating" the ramyeon and breaks down crying, wow. I also saw a lot of people saying different things about it and, one of the things people said was that his friends and people o cares about him are around him but he is still left alone. I don't think the others left him alone just like that. He's visible hurt, both, inside and out, holding tears all the time... I would give him some time too. And, he may have asked to be alone for a while cause, Khul would talk to much, ask too much, and he's not in a good shape for all Khul's presence at that moment, you know?

And when he touches where the handcuffs were, his chest and neck where Vegas touched, I really think he was missing him, but his crying because he don't want to miss Vegas. Crying because because he knows it's wrong and unhealthy, but he's still worried, maybe even not for himself but for what Vegas may do without him. He can't control him if he's not near him. I guess it's obvious now that Vegas don't control Pete, Pete controls him.

And one last thing, yes, they can't kill each other because, like I said, they balance one another. If one of them dies, the other will crumble. If they hurt each other, they hurt themselves. That's why I think Pete couldn't pull the trigger and Vegas couldn't stab Pete.

All of this is just how I feel about them, how I read them myself.

I love seeing the other ways they are being read so, if you want to talk more about them or other couple, even other series, I will gladly talk to you. 🥰🥰

And I need to say, shout out to the whole KinnPorsche's crew cause I'm really impressed by this series 😍😍

"Yes." Ohm said. "It's a frequent for her. Well, I'll be going."

"Why didn't you tell us you had dizzy spells?" Sarawar asked.

"It wasn't a big deal."

"It could've been." Tine said warningly. "What happened to being honest?"

"I didn't lie. I just... Didn't tell you." You shrugged. You stared at Sarawat.

"Keep looking at me like that, and I'll knock you out with a kiss." He said.

"I'm not worried." You crossed your arms. "It hasn't happened yet."

"Is that a challenge?"

"It is."

Recently finished 2gether the Series. I think some of my willingness to watch without fast-forwarding may have been influenced by the fact that I was a sick lump with barely enough energy to let the dogs out to pee.

I normally wouldn't have much patience for the set-up - the whole stalk-somebody-to-fake-date-you thing? Tine didn't even like Sarawat as a person, much less a romantic interest; why not give up and try to find someone else??

BUT. The actor who plays Tine is ridiculously adorable, and I wanted to pinch his cheeks and feed him soup no matter what he did, so I hand-waved that.

Funny story: I'm slowly watching Midnight Museum, and during the moth episode I though "hmm, I bet this Moth guy would be incredibly attractive if he wasn't playing a drugged up, moth-poisoned psycho." And lo, there he was in 2gether playing Sarawat and being awfully attractive as expected.

I remember almost nothing about the side pairings except that it involved the brothers of the mains + the friends of the mains? I didn't care too much. Oh, except the love triangle made me sad for the little brother who was second choice.

I don't mean to be a downer, because I did really like the Tine/Sarawat story! It was clumsy in places, and a lot of the contrivances (the fake dating stalking, the whole "woo him by being mean" thing, the misunderstandings) made me face-palm, but they were SO CUTE and ridiculous that I couldn't help but root for them.

I liked how their relationship was a slow burn. And while I thought the aforementioned plot contrivances were face-palm-y they also seemed semi-believable? Like, these guys are college students, it's entirely possible for them to really be that dumb (affectionate).

And while I wanted to slap both boys for not communicating when Sarawat's former crush turned up, I liked how twisted up Tine got about it. I could understand why he'd freak out and assume the worst - the whole relationship is new, the gay is new, he's an anxious person in general, and even though he acts self-confident he's also really used to getting shot down and overlooked. Poor baby. A good bit of emotional whump for both characters, to get them talking.

Very good series. ❤️ them.

If My Gear and Your Gown just broke my heart this badly in episode 10, I am terrified of what episode 11 will bring.

On the other hand, all my boys have such good friends in their lives and thank fuck for that. Pure and Itt are seriously a great example of friendship and caring for each other.

But, seriously, Itt. I get it, you were doing it all for his benefit but maybe you could try combining that with COMMUNICATING with him about how you want to help him and don’t hate him? That might have helped!

I am so, so happy that these university episodes are actually turning out to be good. I had high hopes and, so far, they’re definitely being met! I do really like these characters and their stories are enjoyable.

I also really like that all of the characters are well-rounded. You can understand why all of them are doing what they’re doing and it makes sense and even if you know what they could do better/differently you know why they aren’t doing it that way. Because they’re all full characters with internal and external influences and issues that we know about and that makes sense.

So, yes, My Gear and Your Gown is definitely one of my favorite shows currently and I look forward to next week!

Why the forced kiss in 2gether isn't bad writing.

Sarawat didn't use it as a way to assert his power - it was more of his desperation and hurt like him screaming "how much more loud and obvious do I need to be with my feelings for you"

Because before that tine thought every fliration, the pocky game kiss (even with the way Sarawat looked at him or for that matter even Tine looked at him- but he wasn't aware of that so shhh that's okay)

That changed after Sarawat kissing him when drunk- it made Tine think, wait if it isn't a joke and he is serious- what does that mean for me, why its affecting me so much, it made him think about his own feelings for Sarawat and his own sexuality.

It made Tine ready to as Sarawat beautifully said "to keep your heart open for me"

Soo I just discovered your blog and I was stalking it sksksk and I've noticed that you say 2gether and ATOTS? get ruined in act 3 (or sth along those lines I'm sorry i dont remember) and your fear that Bad Buddy would fall in that trap as well. I'd like to know more about your thoughts on that matter, because although I felt like sth went wrong with both atots and 2gether (beyond repair unlike atots), i was never able to put it into thoughts? Also are there any bls that didn't fall into that trap? I'd love to know more!

first of all, here's a bit of fandom lingo for you, we usually call this act 3 nonsense "the penultimate episode curse", because the second to last episode is when - if shit hits the fan and things are bad - it's usually already irredeemable.

second of all, prepare yourself - this is gonna be the size of an essay:

so, i wouldn't go as far as to say that atots was ruined in act 3, but (controversial opinion incoming) i didn't find the conflict of the finale, in particular, to be believable at all. i feel like they did a lot of telling and not showing, and they also ran with the assumption that we all agreed tian must leave the village and go abroad to study, and that there are no other options for him, which i don't understand to this day. ultimately, they wrapped things up pretty well, and overall i still find atots to be a fantastic series, but the final conflict felt very much like "oh, this thing could potentially be an obstacle to their relationship, but we won't explain how exactly it is an obstacle to their relationship, we just want the angst before the ultimate happy ending".

now, 2gether was indeed ruined for me because of act 3, and though still2gether (while i have some qualms about it as well) did a great job fixing and explaining away those mistakes, it couldn't fix them to the point where i would be satisfied with the last two episodes of 2gether. i don't think anything could do that at this point.

in terms of the specific issues act 3 of 2gether had, i could sum it up as 1) negating all your characters' development, 2) making them act completely out of character, and 3) writing in a lot of nonsense - all in order to make it rain angst before the rainbow happy ending can appear.

sarawat, in particular, wasn't sarawat at all (him going to sleep when tine is clearly in distress and not visiting him at the hospital (which was canon at the time)? like,,, who is this guy, i don't know him); the sudden lack of communication after episode 11, the whole point of which was that they decided they should always talk to each other about what they think and about how they feel; and the whole structure of the finale, the majority of which we spent deep in nonsensical angst, and the conclusion to which was ultimately unsatisfying (also, there were way too many flashbacks taking up space that should have been utilized in literally any other way). there are many more details, and also likely things i am forgetting (because i did - in fact - not watch those two episodes ever since they premiered), but i am hoping the general gist of the issue is clear enough as is.

in general, i think the problem a lot of creators run into when writing act 3 is that it's almost customary to follow this narrative. they think there must be a huge conflict, which leads to absolutely devastating angst, and which is resolved last minute - regardless of whether it actually makes sense or not. which is why, i think, the series that had the easiest time escaping this issue were series with a plotline separate from the relationship/romance plotline.

the best example here would obviously be manner of death, where we did have our huge conflict and high stakes, but all those things were connected with the investigation/police plot point, which allowed tan and bun to stick together through it all, as that made complete sense and overall made for an incredibly satisfying ending. i think another thing that manner of death did really well was that they made a point of settling us into the happy ending if that makes sense? it wasn't just a small "but in the end, they were happy" - they showed us a good bit of tanbun's relationship after the main plot point was resolved, and we were left with a real feeling of "yes, in the end, they are happy".

at the same time, it's fair to say that there have also been instances where the relationship actually had a satisfying ending, but the other plotline was wrapped up in a way that kinda sucked - history 3: trapped case in point. that being said, i feel like the reason why an unsatisfying conclusion to the romance, in particular, annoys us all so much is that most of us are ultimately here for the relationship, and only then for any other plot.

as for your question, i think the majority of mlm kdramas didn't follow this structure (or at least presented it in a very different way) - i would point out light on me and color rush here specifically. and, out of the series that did follow this specific way of narration in act 3, but which have done it in a way that makes sense, and that followed it up with a satisfying showcase of a happy ending, i would definitely point out manner of death (of course) and cherry magic as the series that had the best, most satisfying endings. quite a short list, i realize, but that should tell you why i'm so worried for bad buddy.

I know 2gether was (still is? 🤔) Really popular, and I'm sorry to say this bc I know a lot of people really like it. But like. When can it die?

That was a show I was dedicated to watching as the episodes came out. And I liked it in the beginning, but as it went on I kept getting more and more annoyed by the main characters and the drama and the angst and how they were writing/developing (aka not actually developing) the side characters stories/romances at all.

I didn't like Sarawat and Tine's story at all by the end of the show. Their characters and the drama annoyed me way too much.

I loved Green and Dim. (One of the only redeeming parts of the show imo.) And I love Frank and Drake - but that almost made the show worse for me bc their story was so badly written!!!! And I love Toptap and Mike but they were like such an afterthought. They were cute but ugh. All of the side romances had no progress whatsoever until the last 20 min of the last episode. That show spent so long just ramping up drama with no pay off.

(And I liked that Gunsmile had the freedom to be the goofball he's always wanted to be.)

And then still2gether was like supposed to be the good ending that we were deprived of, and even that was really annoying!! Bc it still wasn't a good ending!! At least for Frankdrake. Like it was a good ending. But just, it still wasn't well written. It wasn't satisfying. I barely remember what happens with everyone else. I was only there for Frankdrake let's be real.

I'm not trying to like start an argument or spread hate. I just. Had feelings and wanted to rant. Sorry.

Long story short, I think I just had so much hope for it and was so determined for PhukongMil (Frankdrake) to be good, that in the end I was just suuuuuper disappointed. And then I felt the amount of love and popularity the show got was unjustified and that also really aggravated/s me.
