ah yes we're at the tirreno-adriatico/paris-nice confusion period -- saw an update about jonas's attack at tirreno and my first thought was 'hmm wonder whether primož is going to react to that'. one of my favourite times of year; when i have been too busy to watch either race (beyond occasional paris-nice highlights of an evening) and esteemed mutuals are liveblogging both events simultaneously so i keep forgetting who's in italy and who's in france 😅

Burian è in arrivo: difficile a crederlo con le temperature simil primaverili di questo inizio anno. Eppure sta facendo irruzione, già a partire da oggi, su tutta Europa il ciclone dell'Epifania: piogge, venti forti e mareggiate. Da metà gennaio, invece, sperimenteremo l'inverno, quello vero, grazie a correnti provenienti dalla Russia. Un primo assaggio di questa prima ondata di freddo del 2024 è stato sperimentato ieri dalla Svezia, risvegliatasi con -40°. Il ciclone dell'Epifania Il 2024 è iniziato all'insegna del tempo instabile ma con temperature di circa 10° al di sopra della media stagionale. A partire da oggi, però, lo scenario cambia: un ciclone attraverserà il nostro Paese e il suo regalo sarà un generale peggioramento delle condizioni meteo. Sono attesi, infatti, venti di Maestrale con carattere di burrasca (con velocità, cioè, fino a 100 km/h) su Sardegna, Sicilia e medio e basso Tirreno. Venti di Tramontana soffieranno su Liguria e Toscana alla velocità di 40/50 km/h mentre domenica 7 sarà il Mar Adriatico ad essere scosso da venti di Bora che soffieranno a una velocità di 60 km/h. Temperature in drastico si registreranno in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Romagna e Marche. Sulle coste più esposte sono attese mareggiate con onde alte fino a 4/5 metri. Il maltempo causato dal ciclone persisterà ancora i primi giorni della prossima settimana. Burian in arrivo A metà gennaio, inoltre, potremo sperimentare un freddo molto intenso a causa di correnti provenienti dalla Russia. Potremo sperimentare, cioè, Burian, un freddo intenso causato da correnti molto fredde che nascono nelle steppe siberiane. Correnti che, una volta superate la catena montuosa degli Urali, si uniscono ad altre provenienti dall'Anticiclone delle Azzorre all'altezza della Scandinavia. L'unione delle due correnti d'aria, nota anche come Ponte di Weikoff, fa sentire il suo effetto, di forte freddo, anche sul resto d'Europa. L'arrivo di Burian è capace di provocare un calo delle temperature di una decina di gradi nel giro di 24 ore. La Svezia stretta nella morsa del gelo Ed è proprio la Scandinavia che ha iniziato a vivere il nuovo scenario meteo con temperature record. A partire dal 2 gennaio, la Svezia sta registrando temperature intorno ai -40°. Nella Lapponia svedese, i termometri hanno registrato -43,6°, la temperatura più fredda registrata nell'intero Paese da 25 anni. Il precedente, infatti, risale al 1999 ed era stato registrato nella città di Karesuando, vicino al confine con la Finlandia. Un'ondata di freddo eccezionale che ha fatto scattare l'allerta nell'intera Scandinavia. In Danimarca le autorità hanno invitato i cittadini a non mettersi in viaggio se non in casi urgenti per l'alto rischio di trovare le strade innevate e ghiacciate nelle regioni settentrionali e occidentali del Paese. Nelle regioni meridionali, invece, è scattata l'allerta arancione a causa delle alluvioni. In Finlandia le temperature dovrebbero restare sui 35° per tutta la settimana.
