i didnt think the 'andy + slavery' thing was handled as badly as everyone made it out to be when telling me about it. tho from the way it was talked about i had kind of figured the conflict between andy and nile re: slavery would be really racially charged (esp considering nile is a black american and would obvs have Thoughts on the subject in that regard) but like,, done in a cringey 'a-white-guy-obviously-wrote-it' kind of way? but it wasnt that. i mean. it makes sense that andy would be implicit in slavery through the years

i mean, like she says, is that not what people just did to each other in the aftermath of battles for thousands of years? and i really like how its pointed out that it was what she was raised with (in the beginning when you see her put shackles on that guy after the battle) but she also accepts responsibility for it and acknowledges that it was wrong and not just 'what people did'.

i like how from her expressions you can kind of tell baby andy knew it was off but she sets those feelings aside bc she felt angry. it explains how she felt but didnt make her out to be blameless in it. plus i mean. i dont know, the fact that andy was involved in a lot of morally shady stuff for 7000 years is not that wild for me. if you live that long youre just Going to be involved in some shit, and she didnt even have other immortals with her as positive community influences, she literally just did whatever the fuck she wanted for thousands of years

on that note imo copley was. weirdly enough, more interesting in fm than in tog1. to me at least. the fact that andy let him live and he was so haunted by what had happened that he came back and sought them out despite knowing they would likely kill him for it bc he wanted to not only make up for what hed done but also to tell them what theyd done for the world was admittedly more interesting than andy just kind of drafting him to the cause and him going 'okie'

i like how nicky was drawn in this one. in opening fire he looks like a blob man but in fm he looks more like a very nice grampa with a very good dye job

ive hit the picture limit but id seen that panel where nicky goes 'forgive me' as he kills a guy out of context and it was HILARIOUSLY anticlimactic for me to discover that there was literally no context to it. nicky just apologizes to random people he kills. i thought that guy was someone he knew or something. nope its just Some Guy that nicky didnt know from adam

nile's complaint that andy was especially brutal to the guys on the boat... i mean. . , how exactly does one kill a man with an axe and not be brutal about it?

it was funny how noriko kissed andy and the only people who seemed surprised by that were nile and also andy

nicky and joe's complete non-reaction to finding out noriko is alive And Evil Now is endlesly funny. they just left her on that boat and neither cared. i get book and nile not caring but joe and nicky knew her, and they just have 0 input on the subject of what to do with her

i dont know, i get why people didnt like the ending but its. .. . it makes more sense in the comicverse. bc the squad doesnt really. .. interact outside of jobs? i mean, think of the moon landing story in ttt. that was booker and joe and nicky doing a job and andy only showed up a for a couple minutes after it was done. or the brunch in the first issue of opening fire. the squad arent as tight in the comic, and andy often seems to do her own thing outside of work, so andy saying 'i dont want to do work anymore' and the squad being like 'alright bye then' makes more sense in this universe than the movie one

also i feel like greg was Trying to set up a thing where nile becomes the Leader of The Squad after andy dies but like. its not very well done since. . . i mean, nile hasnt spoken to booker since opening fire, (and she only knew him A Day). and shes known joe and nicky all that time, but there isnt really anything that indicates that they have any relationship at all, much less one that's grown. in all the comicverse the only time nile and nicky speak is in FM, and in that scene nicky tells nile about noriko. nile goes from someone who needs to be set aside to have background knowledge explained to her to being the Leader of the group with nothing in between. it kind of... comes out of nowhere.

on the other hand tho... i felt really bad for andy thru the whole thing. well, i always felt bad for andy, but in this one she seemed so miserable, especially since it really felt like none of the others actually.... cared about her. when noriko came back no one asked andy how she was doing (big question ik, but it wouldve showed they cared at least), nobody ever expressed any concern for her, no one even really seemed to want to be around her. in opening fire everyone was more distant than in the movie of course, but there were little moments where she would joke with joe, or nicky would try and comfort her, or stuff like that, but in FM it really felt like they just didnt really care about her. & in opening fire it felt a lot like andy's relationship with nile breathed some new life into her, but in FM it felt like all they did was argue. i get theyre not *as* close in the comics but it really felt like the only person who cared about andy at all was noriko (which was probably also how andy felt) but it just seemed to come out of nowhere. honestly i was reading and i was honestly agreeing with andy that she might just be better off if she did just die. opening fire, on the other hand, never make me feel that way

tho everyone made it sound like when the squad split up it was one of those cursed 'the found family leaves each other at the end of the journey' tropes. but guys i mean,,, this is the second installment out of three. that isnt the End. theyll come back in the third one and Dramatically Reunite to fight some baddies (probably those 'others' noriko mentioned). im guessing yitzhak fits into that too somehow.

anyways it wasnt That Bad but it made me kind of sad and the only Sweet Found Family vibes in it were when they saved booker. also they shouldve beefed up that nilemoose romance, it underwhelmed me. 6.5/10

i also ABSOLUTELY understand all of greg's comments about how you couldnt make FM directly into a movie, he always said that it had no plot and. i get it now. it really didnt have a plot sdfghjkl

I feel that the sudden explosion of discourse is (partly) j*hn boyega's fault. Did he really needed to go on a rampage against sw fans? Really??? And not against the racism in the fandom (which would have been completely fair) but a /ship/???

… honestly, I kept my mouth shut about this until now bc I was out and I didn’t wanna get into discourse, but… as someone who does like the guy I’m incredibly disappointed in his behavior and in how people are reacting to it. like. first of all the entire drama could have been solved by him saying ‘I was joking but I understand why you think it’s crass sorry about it’ and leaving it there and instead he kept on… harping on fans specifically and not as a general declaration, then he went and diverted the attention going after the r/eylo crowd which whether he likes it or not has actually supported him and his attitude has opened the floodgates and like… it’s been three days, I’ve seen people wishing a minor who also brought KMT her fanbook to kill herself and tweet to her father that they hope he finds her corpse in the bathroom (???) and various other amenities and like… that’s not okay. period. he should say something already to at least distance himself from this bullshit and I’m very disappointed he’s not doing that, because whatever the fuck he was thinking, justifying going after any fans is wrong and opening the floodgates for the antis to do that because hey he did it so who cares let’s be even worse people is……. just…… yikes. very much yikes.

on top of that…. I can’t with people comparing what oscar said to what he did because oscar went off at disney during press releases and voiced his dissatisfaction with his arc and the story decisions (CONSIDERING THAT THEY MADE POE A FORMER SPACE DRUG RUNNER HE SHOULD DAMN WELL BE PISSED OFF) but he hasn’t once went off at the fans or dismissed part of the fanbase or attack specific people, while john basically… went off at single fans who were saying perfectly worded/polite criticism which means they’re put on target too, never mind again opening the floodgates re bullying a part of the fandom that has been bullied since 2015 guys let’s be fucking real, never mind that 90% of the criticism he got was from fanboys who couldn’t handle having a black lead, not from freaking rey/kylo shippers. and that’s another thing.

but the rest… I mean. people are cheering for that? going like ‘oh wow he’s such a king baby go ahead end them’?? guys that’s not being a king, he’s not even going after actual racist idiots, that’s being wildly unprofessional and making sure to piss people off. like. as much as people like it or not, re/ylo shippers paid money to see his movies and a lot of them actually like his character/support his work. the moment you sign on to sw who has one of the most toxic fandoms in existence - I mean not touching the luke vs han shit in the eighties, people basically bullied that poor kid who played anakin in episode one to the point that he quit acting and he ended up in a psychiatric facility and surely the fan reaction to that movie didn’t help not ruining his life completely and that’s not even the beginning - you know you’re in for being roasted by a bunch of assholes. and like… sorry but you sign on for that, you actually handle it pretty nicely for four years which I 100% commended him for and now he goes off on a part of fandom that wasn’t behind most of his harassing like this and I have to buy that hey bullying fans is fine? like I had to read ‘john started the year bullying assholes in this fandom how great I hope he keeps on doing it’? do we all realize what the fuck does this mean? like ffs people tore martin freeman to shreds for having been vocally angry about john/lock fans sending death threats to his wife and kids and he hadn’t exactly put the single people on spot nor made the names (and tbh he was 100% right, at that point you have all the rights to be crass) but now this behavior is okay because… it’s people shipping something you don’t like…?

sorry but a fucking fictional ship is no basis to bully anyone. idc what fucking fictional ship is it because the nature of r/eylo is not the point nor its canon status. and people cheering like this on someone for behaving unprofessionally af is… really… concerning me. because he basically went off on fans. singularly. who had… like…. done nothing specific to him because those people criticized his not exactly stellar joke on instagram, they didn’t go off on him out of nothing.

like. sorry but if you’re a public figure you should be able to handle this shit better than that. and the fact that he made… those… really bad taste comments about KMT deleting herself from social media (AND IT WAS BOTH FANBOYS AND ANTIS MAKING HER DO IT not r/eylos let’s get that straight) while KMT got the shaft in tros more than he did and got the shaft by disney as much as him if not worse is really not looking well. the fact that KMT has been dealing with this entire mess way more graciously and professionally than he’s doing also says a lot about what’s happening.

tldr: yes I agree and if he wanted to complain about racist assholes (which is 100% his right to) he had a thousand better and more professional ways to do it than this. he’s a public figure in one of the biggest franchises in existence known for its toxic fandom. this behavior is 100% not okay. and like he could have gone off on any faction in this fandom I’d stick with my opinion, it’s not just bc I like r/eylo. creators/actors should never advocate for this behavior ever and if they have issues with some fans they should just have the studio backing them up for suing which is a thing I 100% would endorse, but they shouldn’t… do this. like… sorry, but he fucked up. I like his acting, I like(d) him until three days ago, I love his character, but this was fucked up and he needs to own up to it because if we actually normalize this behavior from media creators and actors we’re fucked. like, 100% fucked. it’s nowhere near acceptable to insult like that people who don’t have your influence, who aren’t famous and who didn’t do shit to you except criticizing you for a thing that wasn’t exactly the most refined joke in existence.

(that said, if he hadn’t said it specifically re that character or if he said it with his friends messing around I wouldn’t gaf, but the way he did it was just… bad pr. very bad pr.)

ADDENDUM: as stated, i don’t agree with actors taking fans’ abuse on social media - they should absolutely feel free to block someone or press charges if it becomes bad and as stated the studio SHOULD back them up (I mean… if I had been the voltron actors/writers I’d have sued 80% of that fandom long before S5) but they shouldn’t downright go and do… this. it’s unprofessional. and if you’re a public figure you should like….. have some damned responsibility for your actions. he’s an actor in a multi-million dollars franchise, those people are no one or sure as hell they don’t have his influence or fame. it’s just nowhere near okay to do that and I’m dying on this hill. peace.

The halfling taught her how to speak in halfling, taught her about alchemy, when he has taught her everything, the goblins said to kill him. J/Cers seem to really like the relaunch books. Would you say any of them are worth reading for a P/Ter who couldn't care less about J/C? Trying to decide if they are worth a try. Thank you.

Well, I have started a series of ‘fixit’ fics over on AO3... Sorry, I saw this a few days ago and I’ve been trying to formulate a measured reply. Could you be asking because the new novel is due in October? I think i’ll skip it entirely. I bought several of the books second-hand at a local UBS, and I don’t begrudge giving them the $$ because I like to think I’m a good citizen that way, but I’m very glad I’ve never given KB a dime. In my opinion, she ruins all Trek she touches. With the help of my local library, I skimmed the whole series valiantly plowing through the incredibly boring over-arching threat, the stomach turning Seven plot, and the ‘whatever’ J/C stuff. I’ve tried to see the chemistry but don’t. (And yes, I like KJ, and Chak is a useful prop in my fics) but I read every last word of the last one. The books range from mind-numbingly boring (I’m talking to you, Harry’s love interest), to disappointing, to wtf?! The one interesting thread (an Icheb) subplot (but not THAT subplot), was neither fully explained nor explored. Also, she seems to love to kill off lots of people/crew. Buckle up. Do you love P/T? Like, they are soulmates and meant only for each other!!! Do you like and respect and care about both B’Elanna and Tom? Do you bleed for them when they hurt, and smile when they’re happy? I used to believe (through fandom...?) that KB was a P/Ter. I’m not sure where that rumour started, based on this series. She... eviscerates them. She doesn’t break them up, they don’t have affairs, but she seems to delight in being as cruel as possible to them and not cross that line. It almost feels calculated. B’Elanna is almost unrecognizable, especially after she brings them back together, and Tom is... sort of useless. He’s more a puppet than a ‘man of action’. She even has baby Miral cry ALL THE DAMN TIME she’s ‘on screen’, which I found cliched and lazy, (and one of my kids was colicky until she was 5 mos old). KB pissed me off over a few, specific points (the above included) and I doubt I’ll ever read anything she writes again.

IMO, which I realize isn’t popular but I tried Disco and disliked it for many many reasons, KB ruins all Trek she touches.

TLDR: If you LOVE P/T, or B’Elanna and/or Tom, save your $$, save your heart, and avoid her new series. There’s lots of free fic out there, some of it better written.

ETA: Good for the J/Cers if they like/love the book series. We got our pay off in the series and they got a kick in the face. But with how KB writes B’Elanna, I’m convinced that (if I’m being generous) she doesn’t ‘know’ her at all. My not generous opinion is that KB must actively dislike Tom and B’Elanna and has gone out of her way to be petty and cruel to them.

TLDR; Trumps an asshole, terrorists aren't all Muslim (wow a whole less that 1%!), abortion is no ones business, Planned parenthood is needed. :) -

Abortions are no ones choice but the mothers for starters - it's her body and her choice. Literally none of anyones business but her own. (You can obviously be against Abortion but at least recognise it is the mothers right) Secondly, Planned Parenthood (PP) is not just for abortions. It is for HIV screenings, sexual health, baby health, reproductive health etc (As stated on their official website (https://www.plannedparenthood.org/)). The loss of funding to PP will cause women to lose the easy access of contraception (A key item against unplanned pregnancy, STIs and just general sexual health) This especially will affect the low-income women of America from accessing basic reproductive health services and such. As for abortions, removing safe and affordable abortions from clinics will only mean that unsafe, dangerous home abortions - which may result in deaths of more women. You cant ban abortions, you can only ban safe abortions.

A report done by Triangle Centre of Terrorism has claimed that out of the 3.3 MILLION Muslims that are currently living in the United States, over the past 15 years only 414 (Which is UNDER 1% of the Muslim community) have either planned or committed terrorist attacks balancing out to 27 plans/attempts a year. (Seen in Source 1) As the report reads, most of these plans/attacks were halted early to prevent further attack. Extensive FBI reports on the terrorist attacks on US Soil have been revealed to be well over 90% of them being …. wait for it…. NON-MUSLIM! It is clearly evident that Muslims are really not at all to blame for terrorist attacks in the United states… Moving on. The US president has now banned those in Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen from entering the United States of America in order to, and i quote from President Donald Trump himself, “”[…] to protect the American people from terrorist attacks by foreign nationals admitted to the United States.” (Seen in Source 2) It has already been proven that Terrorist attacks on US soil have not been committed by anyone who is a citizen of these 7 countries. What does this ban mean for refugees in these countries? Well, it means that they’re most likely going to be killed or relocated elsewhere. With America being the biggest resettlement country (take a look at this graph if you care: http://www.abc.net.au/…/top-10-resettlement-countri…/8223094) its going to be a massive shock to those who expected to be resettled in a country branded for being free only to be turned away to Canada/Australia or worse - Sent back to the war stricken country they are fleeing. Donald's executive order to ban citizens from these countries is beyond ignorant and obviously driven by his own beliefs which if he made a simple google search - like I did - he would understand that what he believes is false and fabricated by the media's extensive and unnecessary fear of Muslim terrorists.

If this isn't enough please take a look at ‘230 things Donald Trump has said and done that make him unfit to be president’ (http://www.slate.com/…/donald_trump_is_unfit_to_be_presiden…)… I’m sure there's something there you can find. With now a boatload of people regretting their vote towards Donald Trump (And to those saying that “The people voted for him… you can't get mad.” the peoples' vote was to Hillary - not Donald), people are finally starting to realise what a piece of trash he really is.

Also - “Maddie why didn't you talk about the feminism?!” Because thats a whole other topic i could talk about all day… This post is big enough as it is. Feminism is a whole seperate thing i’m gonna talk about
