why they hate tlj and defend tros

idk who 'they' is but if you mean the sw fandom in general i got three fat words for you: i don't know. personally, tlj is my favorite out of the three movies. tfa is a good movie, i don't mind tfa in the slightest. i don't like tros because of the extremely disappointing ending, the lore inconsistencies and a few other factors that are more personal dislike than they are an actual issue. tlj was just satisfying to me. i enjoyed how we kept moving, i enjoyed the character development with rey and kylo, and i really, really enjoyed the the part where they kill snoke and ben has to make a choice: he can either leave, 'let the past die' and allow the first order to fall or he can become supreme leader and fully immerse himself in the darkness. a kind of 'it has to get worse before it can get better' type situation is what i think the directors were going for (despite me recently finding out that apparently kylo's redemption arc was something that they never planned, which doesn't even make sense, but okay. /sarc). the beginning of tros was good in my opinion, we pick up with kylo now fully in the dark side, there isn't a lot of internal conflict within him now since he doesn't really have to answer to anyone but himself as supreme leader and we all know how unstable buddy boy is now. i just feel like everything kinda fell apart in tros. i haven't watched the movies in a while so all of this is based on my memory and i could be wrong about a few stuff but yeah overall. i don't know.

ok what kind of farm do you want? animals or lots of fruits and veggies?

Ok so I’m more inclined towards having a garden but while doing my research and with how crazy expensive food is atm I would definitely have chickens, goats, and honey bees with working dogs and barn cats. Having other animals like cows, guineas, and turkeys would be awesome but that would depend on the size of the farm itself.

Lol I started rambling but yeah growing fruit/veggies would be priority.

I’m not done ranting about ToM, I just finished reading the damn thing and holy shit I’m fuming.

1) It says Pietro is supposed to be there, but he’s not shown AT ALL in the entire issue, not even in background shots. There was one (1) panel I saw where he might be there, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s listed as one of the main characters. Honestly what the fuck is marvel’s problem with Pietro at this point?? JP got more attention and even then he was only there for like a page or two and then promptly shoved into the background.

2) AND SPEAKING OF MARVEL’S PROBLEM WITH PIETRO WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SUPPOSED TO MEAN??

“You sound just like my brother” FUCK OFF WITH THAT. ACTUALLY FUCK OFF WITH THAT WILLIAMS. There is countless evidence out there that Pietro loves and cares for his sister, he would never talk down to her like that. If you ignore the shit writing he’s been getting over the past few years, he’s not this controlling asshole who would tell his sister that she deserves to have people be afraid of her. Even as shit as HoM was, all he wanted was for her to be able to live her life and not be killed by their supposed friends.

And to drive this home, PIETRO WAS NEVER EVER AFRAID OF WANDA. NEVER.

3) Continuing off this picture, why in the actual fuck are Tommy and Billy treating Wanda this way? Williams either forgot about Children’s Crusade or just didn’t bother reading it in the first place bc she would’ve known that this is OOC for both of the Minimoffs. And what happened to Tommy in the last few issues of this damn event, first he was calling her “mommy” and now he’s like “this is why everyone’s afraid of you”??? What the fuck happened?? Was it the plant people???

4) The title of this comic even is Trial of Magneto, he featured heavily on covers leading up to and into this event. Why is he not the focal point anymore? Why did this become a comic dedicated to bashing Wanda for shit that happened in 2015 again? And why is there no fucking trial? We were promised magnet family shit and we got this instead, no one has truly confronted Erik, the Maximoffs barely got any good panels, and the one time we saw Pietro being spiteful was in the first issue and then he was written out of it. Also Lorna barely got any good moments either despite her taking up a lot of the first book. How do you fuck up a good angst opportunity this fucking bad, Leah Williams?

5) Wanda looks too much like her white-washed MCU counterpart here and I fucking hate it. And I blame w*ndav*sion for it entirely. Not only did we get her back with Vision for some reason, but now we’re left wondering wtf happened with her and Jericho. And now she looks like MCU Wanda and I hate it so much. Bring back her curly hair and dark skin for the love of god, she’s a Romani woman and always has been.

6) Also turning a Romani woman into a boogeyman scape goat. Great. My favorite. That’s totally not racist on top of the other ableist shit here, but whatever. (I’m being sarcastic)

To sum up my thoughts, this event started out interesting but it’s very clear no one in the writers room had any idea what to do with it and instead decided to bring back HoM drama and throw in some random kaiju into the mix and hope fans would eat it up. And no, no one’s happy about this shit. Also to anyone who’s saying that the two panels of Remy and Rogue were good enough to make up for the comic, actually get some standards please. That’s two panels surrounded by a mess, I’m not gonna thank Williams for scraps if it’s surrounded by bullshit.

This comic was a mess and I hope that when it ends it’s promptly forgotten. Also I hope Williams never touches any of the Magnet family again.

Wildest shit on Earth is people saying “at least the sequels are better than the prequels.”

Is it possible for an opinion to be fundamentally, provably wrong? Because if so, I am confident this is it.

Show me where the sequels were as unique and different as the prequels were. Show me a single piece of music in the sequels that can compre to Duel of the Fates, the March of the Trade Federation, or Battle of the Heroes.

Action scenes? Am I to believe that the shakycam antics of TFA and comical missed cues of TLJ are truly better than the all-out warscape of Geonosis or the tightly choreographed battles on Mustafar/Naboo? I just don’t see it. I will give you the escape from Jakku and the Rathtar escapades shortly thereafter have a pleasantly manic-&-frantic tone to their editing and score, but that’s nothing on the intensity of cleanly shot combat.

Is there any given sound effect as memorable or iconic as the mining charges in Episode II? Or even goddamn Sebulba’s chugging pod?

Palpatine is an iconic, GOAT villain largely BECAUSE of his manipulations through the prequels - not just because of his cackling villainy in RotJ. In fact, up until the prequels, everybody considered Vader the far superior villain.

The one thing that the sequels can claim in their favor is the emotion of the performances. We aren’t dealing with Jedi and politicians and royals here; the characters are less uptight and therefore allowed to give us much more emotional performances.

But the sequels are poorly plotted retreads that give us Lite Vader the pissy baby who never proved to be any threat because he’s NEVER WON A SINGLE FIGHT, the Lite Empire growing against a pansy Lite Republic that is never explained and has a very short memory, and another Death Star yet AGAIN, but BIGGER, and then AGAIN SOME MORE but on SHIPS.

There is no Death Star at the climax of any given prequel movie; the “big boss” is the threat of looming war, the tyranny of monolithic oppression. You don’t need yet ANOTHER copy of something that people already complained was a retread in 1983, because the danger is so much bigger and grander in soul.

The prequels have originality, iconic moments in sound and visuals, better themes, the greatest villain, and respect for the legacy of the amazing OT. They have a couple awkward lines here and there, and I know we were all pissed at how wack Padme’s death came off. HOWEVER...

The sequels have nothing memorable to them aside from the design of BB-8 and the very strong memory of how hard they shit all over the OT. They are copies of copies, faded to the point of losing all internal logic while still feeling like we’ve seen it all done better many times.

You know what’s interesting about this gifset?

Kylo’s eyes.

Here is our first helmetless interaction with him, and he almost looks....naive, when you look into his eyes. This is when you compare it with TLJ Kylo:

This is now a man who has Seen Some Shit. Mostly his own shit, and consequences he is 110% responsible for.

Basically I feel like that was the whole of TLJ- him grappling with and not knowing how to process these consequences he created for himself- killing his dad, alienating Rey, failing as an apprentice. His mind is all over the fucking map which is why he relents in killing his mother because he doesn’t know what he wants anymore because he literally can’t think straight.

He tries some group therapy with Rey, who has her own bag of fucked up to process through, but the session gets cut short for both of them, stunting both their results, when Luke ruins the party.

Which is why Rey makes the mistake of going to him. And why Kylo makes the mistake of assuming Rey showed up to be with him forever and ever. They didn’t get a chance to sum up the therapy session and the open-endedness created a huge ball of mass confusion for both of them. They were like two arrows about to intersect, but because the artist stepped away they only just narrowly missed where they were supposed to meet.

Which is why in the mean time, instead of coming to the conclusion that he is, in fact, responsible for these consequences he’s having to process and that regardless there is indeed still hope to fix things, his brain decides to do a quick patch-up job instead since Rey isn’t there to talk to anymore and slings all of his problems on Snoke. This is why Snoke gets killed- he’s Kylo’s mental scape-goat for all these shitty impossible-to-deal-with consequences, and you can’t be a bad apprentice if your master’s dead. It’s the perfect solution. Until Rey turns around and shoots him back down to earth (or any appropriate equivalent thereof).

Which just leaves him, and also her, a confused shattered mess again. Was he right to kill Snoke thinking it would solve all his problems? Isn’t that also what Rey wanted? Why didn’t it work? And why does he still feel like fucking shit regardless?

This is what makes me think TROS is going to be the Coming To Terms episode, for everyone. Why does Kylo suddenly seem to have his swagger back in the previews? Because he’s finally had space to process what he needed to. But to what ends? Did he just deflect himself into a black hole or was real progress made? That......that’s the question we’re going to have answered, I think. The man has his swagger back, and this time there are no clenched fists.  But what method did he choose to reach this point? The productive one? Or the one taking him even deeper into denial?

And Rey? Looks like Rey still hasn’t sat down and had an honest conversation with herself about the direction her life is going and where it’s been. Maybe that’s the difference that age plays in them. Kylo’s nine years over her might be why he seems to have it together while she just buckles, cracks, and breaks down completely as her dark side form. Will she get it together, too, in TROS? Or will Kylo have to get it together enough for the both of them- enough to pull her out of the abyss that no one was there to pull him out of when he fell into it at around the same age?

It’s a long shot, but maybe Kylo will be able to get it right with Rey where he got it wrong in his own life. He was alone when he spiraled. But he has already told her that she isn’t.

Ok, I finished Longmire a week and change ago, so naturally I’ve started over, to, like, take notes for fic writing purposes, and because that’s just how I roll.  But tonight, instead of spamming @cminerva​ with 200+ random Facebook messages overnight, I figured I’d just yell about shit here.  Even though I basically haven’t been on Tumblr since the great porn purge of 2018 in solidarity with so many of the queer folx and sex workers who had their content targeted while the site was leaving Nazis and shit totally in the clear.  (Still boo at that.)  Anyhoo.  Starting this shit.

Shit, I just cackled.  Whyyyyyyy, why, why, whyyy the fuck did they name a character “Branch” in this show?  Bless this cc though.

Oh, Lucian.  You old goat.  “You don’t negotiate with terrorists indeed.”  You magnificent asshole.  What the hell is wrong with you.  Actually, no, never mind.  Even I don’t have time for that long of a list.

Good lord, but Branch’s jeans are tight.  He may be a complete butthead, but this remains an exemplary show for jeans.

And then Walt wanders in to his own fundraiser basically by accident, after Henry has clearly gone to considerable effort to put it together.  There’s a band, for pete’s sake, and not a bad one.  And if he hadn’t had that random piece of meat, I can only imagine that Walt wouldn’t have shown up at all.  There’s a difference between focusing on the policing and avoiding the politics and being a shitty friend, and Walt basically set up camp on the wrong side of that line.

Interesting to see the slightly odd exchange between Henry and Omar.  [9:30]  I get the feeling that there’s not much love lost there.  I bet there’s a story or 7 there.  I’m relieved to see Omar with the beard after watching the rest of the series.  It was startling to see him without earlier in the rewatch, and weirdly off-putting.  ...That’s right; probably most, if not all, of the issue between Henry and Omar is how he hunts: for profit, more than he needs, “punishing” this killer bear, etc.  Ugh, Omar, you creepy letch.

Ok, I get that being from Philly is basically the only personality trait that they’ve given Vic so far, but holy hell, does she only have clothing with the Philly Fliers logo on it?  I’m still kind of cheesed off with how the writers short-changed Vic.  KS is a pretty phenomenal actor and she did get some juicy elements to work with eventually, but still not what feels like she could have done.

Pfft, and Lucian is just sitting behind the Sheriff desk.  $10 says that was his chair, too, and Walt just never bothered to replace it.  Ew.

Wow.  I think I had forgotten that way back in S1 Walt was threatening somebody dismemberment by bear to coerce a confession.  Also, this little shit in nooooo way qualifies for TLJ to play him.  Rude.  Oh, sure, and here’s Walt with his flaming hypocrisy, here to light the way to moral self-righteousness.  “We can’t be torturing and murdering people, no matter how right we think we are.  Somebody’s got to be the sheriff, or else we’re all just animals.  What the world needs is more human beings.”  WALT.  You literally just coerced a confession out of someone under threat of violent, horrible death.  You may feel you have the moral high-ground over this guy, but FFS, standing knee deep in shit only makes you lord over the people standing waist deep in it.  You’re still knee deep in shit.  

And then he goes on moralizing about entrapment.  YOU ARE SUCH A FUCKING HYPOCRIT.  And yet, I still miss this Walt in later seasons.  The guy who would talk to animals, and wasn’t so blindered by his own vendetta against Jacob that he couldn’t see anything past his pinhole focus.
