bit of thancred character musing under the cut that im gonna try to approximate from a 6am discord rambling into something i can actually post. both SHB and EW spoilers included
i saw some folks talking on twt about how guilt seems to be a very important factor in his life and i agree. i think a lot of major parts of his character and arcs have been due to guilt over something he did (or didnt even really do, re: the whole goobue rampage situation). it's driven him to work his ass off after louisoix which lead to him getting possessed... but its probably also what motivated him to do better for ryne after being forced to look his fuckups directly in the eye instead of just wallowing about them. but i think, at the same time, he doesnt really seem to, like... actually be proud of himself for a lot of the stuff he's done in order to work off that guilt? the biggest giveaway for that being the line in endwalker on the ragnarok where he talks about his "good deeds" cynically and seems to insist that they were never really that impactful in the first place. that they'll just go to dust when he dies.
Tumblr media
in shb, during the ahm areng segment, not only does he talk down on himself in general, but also puts down his attempts to help OG minfilia back in the pre-ARR days... when i'm pretty sure she never even blamed him for the goobue rampage in the first place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's all a little bit sad to me, tbh. i've seen some people reason that, because he was only able to escape poverty due to louisoix seeing potential in his thieving skills, he's essentially internalized the idea that he's only really worth keeping around by ANYONE if he's actively being productive, either helping others or trying to fix whatever fuckups he feels he's made. i think that would explain a lot of this
Tumblr media
note the "few positive traits" line, which to me comes across as "i was only picked up out of childhood poverty because he thought my skills were useful." though i don't really know how much of that mentality he's managed to work past by post endwalker. he IS able to go off on his own, and mentions that he trusts the scions to keep themselves safe now... but as i ranted about before, the short story points out that he's only really content to rest briefly before he feels obligated again to seek out unrest to try and help, specifically mentioning minfilia again. also, a couple times during the story, notably post ARR after his possession, mid SHB after he's wounded in a fight with sineaters, and post SHB after he passes out due to the weakening soul-body bond, he seems to dislike even having to rest for medical reasons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's a pretty interesting part of his character to me. idk if the writers specifically had his rigorous upbringing in mind when they wrote these parts of his character, but to me it would make a lot of sense as an explanation for why he's so averse to rest and why he carries so much guilt and why he's so passionate about keeping the folks around him safe. that's kinda been his whole reason for life since he was a kid-- using his skills for the benefit of others. to him, doing anything other than that would be a waste, it seems.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
idk. funny guy makes my heart hurt. yes i had all these dialogue screencaps saved and on hand. yes i am a little insane. what of it

Chapter 25 of Nona the Ninth
So this chapter has a broken Gideon skull, which in this book seems to mean people being deceitful, and something is definitely up because Gideon is like 2-3 times as much Gideon as she normally is in this chapter, and I don't think that's an impression I only have because I've recently been through 3/4 of book full of Nona POV
Throughout this chapter, Gideon is referred to as "the corpse" or "the corpse prince" frequently, and I just feel like I should point out that we've gotten to the point where there are actually two different walking and talking corpses in this scene and both of them could plausibly be referred to as a prince. Even though Naberius's body is not currently being controlled by Ianthe, Naberius himself was a prince before he died
Tumblr media
Hmm
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's all the definitions, I think Gideon just made this one up. Also, it's not a good day when you learn a new ethnic slur from the dictionary
Tumblr media
Pyrrha acts like Gideon said "yes" here, but she didn't. That's like, a combination of "yes" and "nope"
Tumblr media
It's hilarious, and I think actually accurate, that she's still terrified of the needle even though she is literally immune to needles now
Tumblr media
"Judith Deuteros for some reason" really just sums up Judith's whole role in this story, doesn't it? It also would make a great blog title for a Judith fanblog, someone should get on that
Poor Judith! It's been a hot minute since Judith actually said something in a language that someone other than Nona can understand, so I really do hope it still is Judith in her body, and not someone or something else in there now
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right, so this could potentially mean:
The whole time since she impaled herself on the fence (unlikely since Gideon was stealth-narrating the entirety of Harrow the Ninth)
The whole time since Pyrrha and Nona met up with BOE at the end of Harrow the Ninth (since BOE had Gideon's body at that point, I think it's entirely possible that Gideon's soul transferred back into it from Harrow's body when she came into its proximity)
The whole time since John reacquired Gideon's body and made his modifications to it, and possibly also brought Gideon's soul back to it at that point
She could also just mean "the whole time I've been in New Rho" or "the whole time you've been in the barracks" but obviously she's been awake for longer than that since she was around to receive medals and stuff from John
Tumblr media
Wiktionary says a "rusk" is a "weaning food for children" but doesn't give any kind of information on what specific food it is, or if it's just a general word for that kind of food
Tumblr media
So Ianthe can "shut her off" somehow. I'm not sure if I buy that it was Gideon's idea to come here. I don't think she likes Ianthe, I don't think she would have thought New Rho would be a fun place to be, and even if she actually wanted to go to Ninth House like she says later I don't think she could have predicted that she'd be in a position for that to happen here and there are much easier and more straightforward ways for her to get to the Ninth House if she'd stayed with John
An interesting question is whether or not she would have won a fight with Ianthe's entropy field. I tend to think not, because a literal bar of metal didn't survive the entropy field, and even though she has some, like, I guess artificial preservation from being John's daughter she wasn't immune to direct physical damage because of that and even John himself wasn't immune to being taken apart into bits by Mercy, and since Mercy made the OG entropy field I'm sure it probably works using the same principle as whatever she did to John. Gideon may still survive the entropy field somehow, but if the entropy field was still functional it would actually be a great way for Palamedes to get a blood sample from her for Tomb-opening purposes, and so I think John would be extremely against having any such thing anywhere near Gideon's body. So I'm sticking with my theory that this was Ianthe's idea. She intentionally showed Gideon's body during the broadcast, she did that on purpose, although I guess if Gideon was "turned off" during that time she might not know that
Tumblr media
Man, thanks for nothing, Gideon
Significant things that happened in the River at the end of the last book:
G1deon and a bunch of ghosts scared Number Seven off and it went to New Rho
Augustine was eaten by the Stoma
Harrow's and Palamedes' River bubbles ceased to exist
The Mithraeum was submerged in the River and sank very far down, unknown currently if John and Ianthe managed to save it
I can't think of why any of these things would make it safe for non-Lyctors to travel safely through the River. The ghosts all make themselves scarce around resurrection beasts, but I'm sure Ianthe and Gideon's journey didn't start out in the presence of a resurrection beast and I don't think the ghosts are the reason why River travel is dangerous for non-Lyctors
Tumblr media
Blatant lies, lmao
Tumblr media
She's so bad at lying, she starts off with "I don't want anything anymore" and finishes with "I want to go to the Ninth House because I have unfinished business there", and I suspect both of those things are at least partly lies. But I think she's right that John would probably give her a medal for killing this collection of people at this point, including Corona I think
But I suspect that she is the one who wants to go back to the Ninth House, for some undisclosed reason, and she's not acting on John or Ianthe's wishes here. If John wanted her to go back to the Ninth House she would already be there yesterday. If Ianthe wanted her to go there, I don't think she would have put up that entropy field, and she might even have tried to do some deal with BOE where she exchanged Gideon for the Sixth House. Also, I don't think Ianthe actually gives a shit about the Ninth House or anything that happened there. And there's no one else left in John's circuit at this point
Tumblr media
Man, when Pyrrha said she was heavy, I just thought it was because she was tall and full of muscle. How damn strong is Pyrrha, exactly?
No, hold on, let me math this
A normal adult human has 11 kg of bones. Cortical bone makes up 80% of bone mass and has an average density of 1908 kg/m3, and cancellus bone makes up 20% and has an average density of 1178 kg/m3, so that is an average density of 1762 kg/m3 over all. There are 1,000,000 cm3 in 1 m3, so 11 kg / 1762 kg/m3 * 1,000,000 cm3/m3 is 6,242.9 cm3 of bone. Titanium has a density of 4.506 g/cm3. 6,242.9 cm3 * 4.506 g/cm3 is 28,130.5 g or a little over 28 kg. Since bones usually weigh 11 kg, that's only 17 extra kg of bone, so she only actually weighs about 37 and a half more pounds than usual. She says "titanium plex", which is not a real thing, but I can't imagine that titanium plex would actually be more dense than titanium, so I think it checks out that she would just be somewhat heavier than expected and not ridiculously heavy or something like that
Tumblr media
That's a great question that I'd love to see answered. Is the fence also going to turn out to be some kind of holy object infused with a power even higher than John?
Speaking of holes, I remember back a long time ago I reblogged that one poll that mentioned stigmata sex, and people assured me that while the stigmata were actually in the book, the stigmata sex was not. Are Gideon's holes the stigmata? Does that count as stigmata? I think it's in the wrong place, isn't it?
Tumblr media
So, thanergy is cell death, but it seems like dead bodies radiate thanergy even if no cell death is occurring, because John's cryo bodies were generating thanergy for him even after he'd completely stopped them from rotting. So Gideon's body is somehow preserved due to being related to John, but in a way that doesn't involve being infused with thalergy as she suggests for the blood sample, because as we know from the last chapter, body + soul + thalergy = living person, and Gideon isn't a living person, so she must be missing one of those, and it's not her body or her soul. The preservation only applies to the bounds of her body, and her body is still radiating thanergy, apparently enough that it would kill the blood sample?
Tumblr media
She got her whole childhood fantasy of a famous and powerful parent who gave her everything she wanted, but that person turned out to be John, and now she's stuck with him and Ianthe and being used as figurehead for John's military, and he spent just enough effort on her to make sure that her body can't be used against him but didn't fix the gaping holes in her chest, and the person she sacrificed herself for is missing and possibly dead, and someone else is in her body instead
Tumblr media
I mean, Ianthe was keeping her locked up behind the entropy field. I wonder if she's had a lot of that from John, too

You wrote a few times about the old animatronics and Vanessa would you mind writing about them and Gregory?
Maybe the new animatronics are jealous over how much time Gregory is spending with them. Or just how the old animatronics admire Gregory for sticking up to good ol SpringB***h and how brave and kind he is.
Gregory deserves an army of animatronics that would kill for him and adore him.
That just reminded me of the meme “I only had __ for a day and a half and if anything happens to him I would kill everyone in this room then myself” lol
We’ve got tumblr generated prompt number 16 here! I got waaaay too into the setup for this, lol, so it’s a bit long. Who am I kidding, a bunch of the ficlets for this round have been longer than usual. And I don’t know why, but when I write the OG bots in SB’s setting, I have a preference for leaving them silent.
Speedrunning a Family
On that first night, so full of panic and running around and grabbing only what he needed before he could be cornered, Gregory barely spared a second glance at the dusty animatronics packed into a room in the basement. The only real thought he had about them was the hope that they wouldn’t join the hunt as yet more potential threats to his life. And then he forgot about them, and they never did make an appearance, and that was that.
After, though, after murderers were caught and viruses were removed and injuries healed up, Gregory remembered the four worn-down animatronics. And he got curious.
He spent a lot of his days and nights in the pizzaplex now that no one was trying to kill him, and his new robot friends were pretty busy during the day, leaving Gregory to entertain himself.
What could be more entertaining than investigating the animatronics who, he was told, were the very first iterations of the band?
It was easy as anything, sneaking around places he definitely wasn’t supposed to be. No one, not guest or employee or robot, noticed the boy slipping through supposedly secure doors and down hallways that were off limits to the public. It was barely a challenge at all, even, compared to the absolute STAFF-bot-infested hell the pizzaplex had been on That Night.
They were right where Gregory remembered they were, a bear, bunny, fox, and chicken tucked away in the shadows, forgotten.
Almost forgotten.
He sneezed a few times as he poked around them, and that was hardly stealthy. Being furry instead of smooth plastic and metal made it harder to clean them up, but Gregory was highly motivated and refused to get caught because of a dust bunny.
They didn’t look so bad once all the dust and grime was wiped away. Clearly well-used, yeah, and with their fair share of dents and tears, but the suits were still fluffy and soft no matter how discolored they were.
It took more time and effort to find a way to recharge their dead batteries than it did to clean them, but again—highly motivated. Gregory simply refused to back down from a challenge, especially when the reward was so promising. To his luck, all the stuff related to these particular animatronics had been shoved into the same storage room. Once he found the charging cables—much easier to deal with than stations—it was merely a matter of fixing up some exposed wiring and dealing with a bit of rust, but it was only a few days after Gregory initially set out on his quest that he got them all recharging.
He sat back with a book, stayed close to the door just in case, and waited.
• • •
It seemed fitting, in a way, that Freddy was the first to power up. His head lifted from its slouch forward surprisingly smoothly, his blue eyes flickering a bit before firmly staying on. Gregory watched with bated breath as he looked around.
In silence, Freddy examined Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy—Gregory had done his research—where they were still limp and shut down. And then he noticed Gregory, sitting on the floor a few feet away. He blinked at Gregory; the snap of his eyelids coming down was audible in the quiet room.
Unafraid, Gregory waved. He had considered whether he should be on his guard and prepare to shoot up and sprint from the room at the first sign of trouble but ultimately deemed it unnecessary. Even if only because these bots were bulkier than the Glamrocks, and he doubted Freddy would be able to stand quickly.
After a brief pause, Freddy reached up and tipped his little top hat in greeting.
Gregory beamed and scooted closer. “I’m Gregory. Do you know where you are?” This was the moment of truth. Were these old animatronics aware the way the Glamrocks were? Or were they no more advanced than the stupid STAFF bots? He crossed his fingers.
Freddy examined the room at large for a moment, then shook his head. Undeterred by the silence, Gregory inched closer still.
“It’s storage,” he explained, and Freddy watched him attentively. “We’re in the basement of another pizzeria. Yours is gone—sorry—so I guess you could consider this your retirement.”
And though Freddy’s mouth didn’t move, deep, echoing laughter came from within him, and he shifted back against the wall in a way that read as getting comfy.
Oh, they were going to get along just fine.
• • •
The Glamrock animatronics never seemed quite sure what to do with the four old ones. Freddy—Gregory’s Freddy, or maybe, his first Freddy—had said they didn’t talk ever, not even over their internal communications system. Other than some programmed sound bites, like Freddy’s laughter, they relied solely on gestures and body language to communicate.
And Gregory, as it turned out, found it an easy language to learn.
He loved all the bots—though not necessarily equally, heh—and that most certainly included the old models. Partly as a joke, given their age, and partly because he couldn’t reasonably go around calling both Freddys by name, he started calling the older one Grandpa Freddy. Then it shortened to just Grandpa, then Pops, and, well, there were two Chicas too, and even with Glamrock Bonnie gone, it would have been confusing, and then Foxy got huffy about it, and at that point, Gregory would have felt bad about leaving him out.
So that was how he ended up with a father figure in Freddy, assorted aunts and uncles (and grunkle for Foxy because such a crinkly looking word fit best for him, and Foxy liked having a title all of his own) across both generations, and Nana for Chica and Pops.
Gregory was living the dream: he had literally gone from zero to nearly a dozen family members, and he’d bite anyone who said they couldn’t be his family on account of them being robots.
It occurred to him at some point that maybe the buried pizzeria had been theirs, so one night, he brought them down. And as they explored the ruins of the building with nostalgic familiarity, Gregory told them about the monster even further below them, the one that had tried very hard to kill him.
He told them of how he had killed the monster instead.
Pops fell still as Gregory finished describing the final showdown. He turned slowly from where he stood in front of the broken stage, and his eyes were dim.
That could mean any number of things. “Pops?” Gregory asked, swinging his feet beneath the wobbly table he’d taken a seat on. “You okay?”
The others all stayed where they were, watching in silence. He was used to their quiet, but even this felt different. Pops walked up to him, his feet scuffing against the debris littering the floor.
With a burst of static, a crackly recording played from Pops’s speakers. It wasn’t a sound bite, wasn’t anything Gregory’d ever heard before. It was a proper recording, a memory brought to life.
It wasn’t much, just a man laughing. But it wasn’t really a happy sort of laugh.
After a moment, Gregory recognized it. The monster had laughed too, when it seemed that he would succeed in taking over Freddy.
“Oh,” he said.
Pops’s body heaved a little, like a great sigh, and then he was reaching out to scoop Gregory up. He was maybe a little below average height-wise for his age—malnutrition did him no favors—but he never felt smaller or lighter than he did when any of the animatronics effortlessly picked him up and cuddled him close to their chest.
He wondered, as he latched on to Pops’s soft fur, if this was a hug to comfort him or Pops. No good could come from knowing the monster, and if what he’d almost done to Freddy and the others was any indication, Gregory doubted any animatronic who crossed the monster’s path came away better for it. Whatever the four original robots had witnessed or were unwillingly part of, he didn’t know. He didn’t have to know.
Gregory pressed his forehead to the curve of Pops’s jaw. “I’m here,” he reassured him. “And you’re here, and he’s not. He’s gone.”
As ever, Pops didn’t respond with words. His hand pressed a little more firmly into Gregory’s back, holding him tight. It felt a bit like agreement and relief and maybe a touch of protective anger that the monster had been a threat to Gregory at all.
“C’mon,” he muttered. “Let’s get out of here.”
A hum that was more vibration than sound answered him, and Pops turned to leave the pizzeria without releasing Gregory. He huffed in amusement and rolled his eyes over Pops’s shoulder at the others as if to say can you believe this guy?
They left the buried building behind, and Gregory got the feeling that they wouldn’t be returning any time soon.

Elongated Emperor's Pokemon Infopost
hi!!! everyone!! This is a bit different from what i usually do A year ago, I've had these paradox pokemon designs sitting in the gutter, getting extremely dusty, so now I'm giving them a fresh new redesign and additional info about them!!
These pokemons are based off of @diamondpastry's OC, Longkii !!
Tumblr media
here's what he looks like. but this post isn't about him, it's about my thing. so shoo longkii
paradox pokemons are essentially variants of existing pokemon but reimagined into what they would look like in the past or in the future. it's much more complicated than that but i think i would be here all day if i have to explain everything throughly.
This post is for the past variant I have created, which is named Elongated Emperor. If you want to see the infopost for the future variant, Iron Launcher, then go here! >> [Iron Launcher's Infopost]
i will explain all the things about this big guy and go into his game info if he were to be in the gen 9 pokemon games, so let's get started on his design!!!
Tumblr media
silly goober!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The main design inspiration for EE is that of the caterpillar and the man-eating worm. i can easily imagine a dangerous, giant, fat bug like this living in the past, and Longkii's very long body can easily be described as a worm. why would a bug have feathers and horns though? this is because paradox pokemon usually have very ridiculous features!
take the paradox version of Volcarona and Suicune for example. Slither Wing(left), despite being a bug pokemon, is covered with fur and has a rather out-of-place dinosaur tail. Walking Wake(right) on the other hand, changed from a leopard to a raptor and has two tails!! its kinda sick ngl
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these design philosophy are stuff i tried to incorporate in Elongated Emperor. I also tried to make it as colorful as possible and cover it with markings, much like a primitive animal.
The crown Longkii sports in the og design gets changed into red feathers, much like a peacock's feather that it uses to attract a female peacock. Instead of attracting a mate however, EE uses its feathers to attract its next meal. the red circles around the arms also for the same use, it isn't there just for show!
these two things have psychic, hypnotizing properties, which explains the secondary Psychic type.
---
I also want to explain the general personality and vibe i wanted to show through EE's design. The giant and tall stature shows a bit an imposing vibe, and its plump body is a sign of wealth and royalty, much like how fat people were seen in ancient civilizations. EE clearly does not need to do a lot to get a full meal everyday.
The colorful feathers and the markings on its face and fingers is there to show that it dresses to impress! To be a king, you have to look like one- no speck of dirt, no unkempt feathers. It wants to look as beautiful as possible, so no one would suspect that it hides a filthy and monsterous side to them....
---
Game Data
Tumblr media
this is the spread i made for EE's base stats! together it totals up to 570. i also want to preface that this is the first time that i've made up base stats for a pokemon so sorry if this is a really bad spread!! i would love to learn and improve for future project.
when making this, i wanted EE to basically be a bulky physical attacker with very slow speed to make up for it's bulk.
Tumblr media
its super high health is also supported by its unique ability, Prosperity! it essentially functions as a Big Root, where it heals an additional 30% HP when EE uses a move that heals itself. this will be made much more relevant when i get to its moveset.
Tumblr media
here are the pokedex entries! and no, i'm not telling you where the mouth is located, its more fun to see you figure it out for yourself !
i also wanted to write a lot more, here were some of my other ideas:
facts about it lounging around in caves
when a meal is too malnourishes, it hypnotizes the pokemon to stuff itself until it grows fat, then it will be eaten
facts on how it has the capacity to swallow an entire arbok whole
---
Learnsets
Tumblr media
lastly, here are the moves EE will learn throughout leveing! i have also made tm learnsets, but it's too long so i will be putting the sheet link for everyone to look at at the end of this post.
obviously, most of their attacking moves will deal physical damage as they have a higher attack than special attack. most paradox pokemon usually start out with pretty strong moves already so i also copied that as well. i also added a lot of healing moves at the beginning, and then a big power up in the form of Leech Life and other draining moves to match with its ability.
You can also notice that there's some moves that involves biting, this is in purpose to show that it has teeth :) The rest of the attacking moves involve them thrashing their body around. Given their shape, they shouldn't learn any high-precision moves.
I should also mention the highlighted move, Fast Food. this is a signature move of EE made by a friend in Dia's server, Gold! so tysm for this idea.
Fast Food - Elongated Emperor rushes to take a ferocious bite of the target that can last 3-6 turns. If the target is holding a Berry, there's heightened chance of it biting longer. Restores 5% of health per hit. (+1 priority)
---
ngl, i think this pokemon may be a teensy bit overpowered.
i think if i were to have this guy in my team, i would give it these moves (i am not a comp person so please dont bully me for these choices 🥺)
Item: Leftovers Leech Life | Zen Headbutt | Drain Punch | Belly Drum
Anyways, that's all I got for Elongated Emperor! I hope you found the silly gluttonous worm cool to read about. Stay tuned for a post about Iron Launcher and goooodbye

Hi, I saw your drawings of JamiKali Spider-Man AU, and I LOVED IT!!
How is this AU? And what do you think of JamiKali's Shipp?
OH you just reminded me to add the tag for this AU on other previous posts where I was chatting about it with ppl who sent me asks! The general tag for my blog is ".twst into the spider verse" if you want to check mine and other people's ideas on it in more detail over there!
Second question first: I'm not really into shipping im general, so idk, I don't think about JamiKali much tbh skdndwknd 🏃
And for the first question I'll take this ask as an opportunity to sum up some hcs I have for this AU 👍 but some important notes first:
I personally rather imagine this AU as a magicless/not-so-magic-central kinda world just for simplicity sake, but the rest of twst og lore pretty much remains the same.
I just talk abt scarabia here bcs they are my faves!
Since what inspired me to ramble about this AU was across the spider-verse, I do make a brief mention canon events and a bit of multiverse stuff
Also there is major character death here 🧍
Scarabia into the spider-verse, headcanons under the cut!
Earth 2506 - Kalim as the spider-man of his dimension. Can also be referred to as the desert-spider!
uhh (making up an origin story on the spot right now) considering he comes from a family of influential merchants, maybe they got a great deal to partner up with some sort of scientific corporation, to deal with the business side of their new technologies. Kalim was for the first time invited to one of the meetings, as the heir to the family business, it was about time for him to check in person how things worked on this field. In short, it did not end well. As they walked around the corporation's main labs, one spider subject went loose, and Kalim stood right under its web.
he's very fitting to be a spidey, considering his happy-go-lucky personality, he'd be the type of spider-man to mess around and have a lot of fun playing the role of a hero
(Fight goes silent)
Kalim: well! that was another easy adventure for spider ma-
(Big explosion)
Jamil is the first one to know about this secret identity of course. He covers up any potential slips, as to not reveal this secret to anyone else
One notable thing about spider-man!Kalim is that he can afford whatever hero gadgets he needs. Gotta fix his web shooters? Want a nice improvement on his hero constume? No problem. He got a fair share of contacts from people who'd easily do all of these for him. Even though it is Jamil the one who usually runs after this stuff in his place...
Canon event stuff being losing a best friend? Jamil in this universe actually becomes Venom (maybe he found a symbiote from the same lab the spider came from) and yeah they had to fight. Jamil probably snapped for the same reasons he got his overblot. And this is the part where Kalim learns that with great powers comes great responsibility...
What would happen next? Does he move on eventually after the fight? Will there be other villains for spider-man to stop? How will he keep the secret identity now that Jamil's gone? Well, these are great questions, because- (runs away)
Earth 1209 - Jamil as the spider-man of his dimension. Idk if he'd go by any other variant of a spider-man name
Now that I think about it, his own universe is probably an accidental breach from Kalim's. As in "what if Kalim didn't get bitten at the lab, and instead brought the radioactive spider back home by accident?" then when Jamil took Kalim's backpack he was the one to get bitten instead
Ace happened to be the first one to find out about Jamil's powers after an incident on a basketball game. Their dynamic is funny. It's not like Ace wants to be the "guy in the chair" but if Jamil's secret identity is ever at risk, he'd volunteer to help, no questions asked. And aside from him, Najma is the only other person who knows about this as well. The very moment spider-man made his first appearance in public she knew! She says it's a "sister instinct", or something like that. She'd even offer to help him and make him a proper hero uniform... but ONLY if he agrees to do all the house chores for her for a month.
Najma: you gotta say it first :)
Jamil: (sigh) callforbackup
Najma: what? :)
Jamil: .......callforbackup
Najma: come onn :)
Jamil: PLEASE just call for-
Najma: yeah I already called it :)
Perhaps spider-man!Jamil has a puppeteer-like skill that he can use to control a small number of people with his webs!
Leona could be a mentor type of character in this universe. Like Jamil already kinda looks up to him in canon, but this time they are a little nicer to each other loll and I only bring this up because there is no "uncle Ben" for Jamil to lose, but Leona is the closest thing he could have to one, so...... canon event. That also ties up to that spider-man story trope of the hero finding himself in the wrong place wrong time, by the side of the person they just lost, only for a third party to walk in and assume it was spider-man the one who killed them. Having people assume this masked man to have killed a person as prestigious as Leona immediately makes spider-man public enemy #1
And edit: just remembered the point abouve could be Kalim alternatively. Which would be even more tragic to think both Jamil and Kalim lose each other in their respective universes
But what do we do after that? How does Jamil redeem himself after this misunderstanding? What if he just gives up being spider-man? Well, uhhh these are also good questions.... look over there! (runs away again)

What are your thoughts on Prideful Cinderella by Pinkshuchan
ooohh prideful cinderella..... again gonna leave the link to the fic here please show the author some love <3 ill try to keep linking to the og fic like this if i get any more asks like this hah
i remember reading it a loooong time ago when it first came out. and then i actually read the first several chapters of it recently again because "hey i havent seen it in a while. and i dont remember much about it" so i gave it another go out of curiosity and i got to around ch4?
but yeah i did enjoy reading it!! not sure if ill continue it soon but it was pretty solid. the writing style is very - formal, i'd say? a little flowery? but anyway the writing style is very well written. it gives the fic a super nice atmosphere which i think fits the whole point of the story - a cinderella inspired, fairytale-esque fic thats made a little Off on purpose just because its pride if and pride if is Understandably. you know. off the rails. yeah i think my favorite part was exactly that - the atmosphere and style was very nice to read through, imo. its just the perfect combo with the premise, as i said, and the setting of this ball and the fact that a certain doomed by the narrative duo reinsuba are having their drama HAH.
and also that antagonist is so. hes so hateable but that seems to be the point. and also he Definitely feels like someone you could come across in real life (unfortunately). so big kudos to the writer for that!!! the part where the antagonist states his viewpoint on women and how theyre like Flowers is so chilling. and also a perfect counterpoint to reinhard, whos 1. genuinely fond of gardening 2. not horribly misogynistic and 3. his family has this. Motif. with flowers.
and also i know its been a small detail so far (at my uhh. around ch4 mark hah.) but reinhard drinking and not getting drunk because of his dps has gotta be one of my favorite details of this fic. theres already like small little bits of details in canon regarding reinhard and his thoughts on drinking (other than the fact that his dad is an alcoholic but lajfls), but yeah. i think reinhard purposefully trying and failing to get intoxicated is interesting. and the whole reinsuba drama and this taking place in pride if is all very interesting as well. the author does a good job of establishing the premise of the fic (cinderella inspired) and making it Make Sense with rezero's setting - its not forced at all i think!!
also i liked the julius reinhard friendship moments <3 (i am someone very normal about their friendship (lying through my teeth))
other than that i do have like. a few criticisms but theyre more a matter of personal taste. like the formal writing style is wonderful with the narration and with dialogue from people like julius or reinhard. it does however feel a little stilted with subaru just bc i Personally cant see him talking like that Unless hes putting up an act (which he does in this fic to be fair!!! but even when hes not he sounds a little too formal for my taste). and also i have General tastes regarding pride if subaru characterization which 1. will of course be a little different with other people and i am welcome to people criticizing my own pridebaru characterization hah and 2. yeah my opinion with prideful cinderella is that pridebaru is a little too nice at times? yeah. hes just a little too nice at times imo despite the fact that this is post-pride if arc 1 and post-subaru joining the witch cult. so i do wish stuff like his hatred of reinhard was more pronounced bc i feel like it Would be at this stage.
but i do get that pridebarus One Line he wont cross is like. people like regulus mistreating his wives and the antag of this fic sure is a bit similar so ig that makes sense? :o and also i did enjoy a lot of pridebaru moments and lines in this fic otherwise (the detail of him rbding to practice his disguise for the ball and him casually going "yeah i did it like 30+ times lol" in his own narration was SO good). i think the characterization of pridebaru just had some moments that i Personally didnt like and others that i Liked A Lot so a bit of a mixed bag to me personally. i liked everyone elses characterizations though!! the witch cultist lackey was also an interesting take yes.
yeah so thats my thoughts on it!!! overall its a good fic just had a few things that werent to my taste but thats perfectly fine!!

hello. Idk why I'm sending you this message and I just found out about your blog yesterday when I finally decided to check how things were over here. I guess you seem like a level headed person that would appreciate a bit of a different perspective. I know what I'm going to say might sound rough, but just know I don't think all of you are like this.
For a bit of context, I have listened to Taylor's music since Fearless. I'm pretty much an OG swiftie (except I'm not. More on that in a bit). But I never was involved in the fandom in any way. I enjoyed her music alone, know quite a few more personal things and interviews and that was it. Overall a pretty healthy chill experience. I think I consider myself something between a casual listener and a fan.
Shortly before 1989 was released, I kinda moved away from her new music. Pop music was never a favorite of mine and I did not enjoy what I heard from the first singles. So just decided to change interests for a while, but kept listening to her old music. So I missed a lot of drama in between thank goodness cause I hate it tbh.
I actually only came back around 2021 with the re-recordings because of Twitter. I learned a whole bunch about it, stuff that had happened in between and decided to listen to the albuns I missed in the process. In the meanwhile ofc I learned she seemed to finally be in a stable relationship and people seemed to like them. I was never that into her relationships so not much of a different to me. If anything I was glad she was in a healthier place, cause I remember seeing people commenting about the whole CH breakup and suddenly jumping to another TH and thinking girllll you are all about trying to be fine but you are not fine at all mental health wise. I guess you spot these things easier when you study psychology.
So...moving on to the actual reason I'm writing and to the present, I want to say that while I do like Taylor I like her music more. That and the fact that for a few reasons I don't consider myself a swiftie nor I interact with the fandom still today, I think gives me a more unbiased view. I also don't have much to say about Joe cause I know very little about me. This said, I was on Twitter and have been reading all the reactions since the news came out and...it has absolutely been a highly toxic environment to be in.
One of the reasons why I don't interact with the fandom is because I think in general is very toxic. When other fandoms say that, they are right. It's toxic and the way a lot of people see Taylor is unhealthy. The scariest part for me is that some people are aware of this, but feel proud of it.
I think one of the biggest problems for me is how you choose to have selective empathy, selective respect, selective principles. In your head Taylor does no wrong (and if she does, we'll figure a way out to defend right), and you preach for respect for her either because of body-shaming, offensive jokes or whatever it is. Yet that goes all out of the window when it's not about Taylor but someone else, other singer, one of her exes...whatever.
Selective empathy at its finest: Taylor's feelings matter but none else's.
And sometimes even her own fans disrespect her and are misogynists. The same thing they don't admit coming for someone else.
It completely baffles me the way this fandom harasses other people and is proud of it.
If there's one thing I pride myself of is being empathetic towards others, I think sometimes I am even too sensitive. Like I said I did not know much about their relationship, was not attached at all and yet I'm human. I shed quite a few tears, simply because of seeing other people sad and the feelings she out in her songs. Because I know all too well how our mental health takes a toll on us, how hard it is not to constantly overthink things when you've been hurt before, how easy it is to just assume always the worst and how absolutely devastating it is to see your fears coming true.
Yet I'm also a human who understands there's a lot of sides to the same story so I choose not to attack, but to understand. And when that's not possible or my understanding leaves a sour taste in my mouth, I try my best to let go because the reality is I don't know these people, I can't help them and I can really only imagine what they are feeling.
Maybe we should all sometimes have more self awareness to figure out when it's not healthy anymore and we're fighting other people's battles instead of our own.
Thank you so much for your perspective anon, and for typing this all out. I especially agree with the second to last paragraph.
I recently discovered quite a few people in my life are Taylor’s fans, and I simply never knew because they don’t talk about her, they don’t use their socials to defend her from sunrise to sunset, they don’t post frantically about whatever she’s up to, they don’t fight with others over her, they don’t engage in immature content, and they don’t obsess over her. And thus, they don’t create a toxic environment.
On my part, I’ve always followed her: from 2008 to 2012 I followed her from a distance or posted on very old websites for teens hahah, then I had a twitter account where I mostly talked about her in 2012-2016, then during rep era I kept the same level of love for her and her music, but I consumed content passively instead of engaging with it and with other fans actively. I was on Reddit for Lover/folkmore/the re-recordings, and now I’m here writing on Tumblr (I’ve read stuff on here since 2014 but I never engaged with anyone).
And let me tell you, my happiest moments as a Taylor fans are the ones where she’s not in the top 10 of my interests. I still listen to her music, I still read her interviews and watch the videos and save the pictures and think about her and care for her, but being in the trenches as a Taylor fan means being tired, angry and frustrated 24/7, and taking part in a toxic environment. So I think you’re doing the right thing!

Would recommend the old anime, new anime, or manga first to someone interested in Trigun? Your posting of the new show has me interested but the style they use isn’t my favorite so I figure I’d ask an expert! (You~)
Haha, wouldn't say I'm an expert per se--
So, I actually never saw the old anime growing up (which was everyone else's starting point, I think) and jumped into Trigun: Stampede with ZERO background and fell in love. In my opinion, it stands alone perfectly well on its own, and develops some of the world differently than the OG '98 anime and manga do, so it's actually a perfectly decent starting point to someone new I think. It's also the shortest at only 12 episodes (not that the '98 anime is hugely longer at 26 episodes).
The animation style is definitely different, and I've had mixed feelings over the years about CG 2D animation effects, but I actually wound up really liking it in Stampede, as some of the action sequences use that computer generated fluidity in ways that are frankly visually stunning.
I'm now watching the '98 anime and reading the manga in tandem and enjoying both; the tone is different from Stampede (manga is a bit darker and it's easier to see Stampede's roots in it than in the OG anime, which gets very goofy, though overall the 98 anime adapts more closely) -- it's fun to see the divergences and where things have been fleshed out or where stuff was reimagined and the timeline changed, and there's of course added characters and situations to explore. Also the fandom over on AO3 tends to mix and match the three canons as desired, so some background from the manga is helpful if you're interested in getting into fanfic.
Honestly, I don't think there's a wrong place to start with the three, though I think Stampede was more enjoyable for me because I went in blind and was able to enjoy it for what it was rather than comparing it to other versions of the story.

Thief deadly shadows long post
Its a good game. worth playing but sadly dragged down by its limitations. i think it stands alongside the first 2 games. The graphics. They're okay and I'm not picky. The cutscenes generally look fine except the parts where we see in-game models talking. Showing Garretts face with a pretty ugly model and lipsync was a bad decision in my opinion. The drawn/painted ones are very good. The REAL fun starts with the lighting. The thief formula greatly benefits from more robust lighting mechanics and my only complaint is that they didn't take it a step further because of console-related and time constraints. New enemies who carry light sources, lightning exposing you to enemies, seeing enemies by their shadow only, and so on and so forth. It tickled my mind to imagine all the different stuff you could do on a thief mission with light and shadow and it's sad we don't get another game that truly squeezes as much as possible out of this. They did a good job and I was greatly satisfied. The third person perspective is probably the worst decision they made for this game. I firmly believe thief needs to be played from 1st person and so many mechanics Depend on it !!! The rope arrow, leaning, blackjacking and so on. The worst part is that you can't ignore the 3rd person view because it actively hinders 1st person gameplay. Your model doesn't rotate when you turn your view so when you move there's this annoying delay. The rope arrow had to be scrapped for the gloves and your model gets stuck and starts floating without a way to get unstuck (without reloading or shooting an arrow). It's not completely game ruining but it IS annoying. The city map. The pseudo open world of this game. Oh lord. Where do I even start. We all loved life of the party and the city missions in t2. But the reality is that it gets very tedious to sneak past guards in the same locations over and over. By the end of the game I was sick of the fucking city maps and going back and forth and back and forth and through the portals and trying to find where I needed to be. Side quests and locations, doing stuff for factions around the city, robbing shops and listening in on conversations around the city, pickpocketing people on the street, the fact you can do a prison escape if the guards catch you, that’s all fun, but. I didn't want to stick around in the city maps any longer than I had to because they were just so annoying. I love the city missions when they're one and done and I don't need to do them over and over again with respawning enemies.
I just don't think 'open world' or a hub map with HOSTILES is the right fit for thief. I didn't do pretty much any of the side quests because of how much the city maps annoyed me. Even though I WAS kind of intrigued. Running from the city watch wasn't fun, it was tedious. Maybe if there was more roof action to get from place to place safely or something. The loot and the shopkeepers. I think this is really the last nail in the coffin for the 'open world' idea. In the first thief games you had an incentive to collect loot aside from it being fun. Your money reset each mission and filled up based on how much stuff you collected. If you collected very little, you could buy very little equipment. Sure, the loot requirements were also there, but I would consider them to be the worst part of the OG games.
It's annoying when you have to run around the map for those last bits of loot on expert, especially if that loot is little things hidden in corners. I WANTED to collect stuff so I could stack up for the next mission, in addition to stealing just being fun. By maybe the third mission I collected more money in TDS than I knew what to do with. And the thing is? The merchants never fucking sold anything I wanted. They would maybe sell 2-5 water arrows if I was LUCKY. By the end I had so much money Garrett could retire. And I still had Nothing to buy :/. I had no reason to loot anymore except to meet the mission requirements. The fact your equipment carries over from mission to mission is a bad decision. Stop making the women hit on Garrett it's really annoying... WHY IS NO ONE FUCKING SELLING WATER ARROWS? Not that I needed them... I didn't really use any of my equipment for the majority of the game. It's not Necessarily bad I could complete the missions without using my equipment or knocking anyone out. So judge on your own opinion. Sound is extremely important in thief games. What kind of floor you're walking on is one of the foundational mechanics and it's lost in this game... If I crouch I'm pretty much completely silent even on tile floors. I Never had to use a moss arrow aside from doing the stuff for the factions or as part of puzzles. It takes away from the experience. It renders one of the most important pieces of equipment pretty much useless which is sad! Generally this game is more of a visual than an audio experience, but I think thief should get the best of both worlds! Loot. Valuable loot has a glistening animation. There's no 'drop quietly' button for junk items. If you accidentally pick up junk and not loot and you drop it on the floor, sometimes even if you drop it on carpet, it alerts Everybody. See the problem? When I played t1 for the first time I was also sometimes confused what can be picked up. But after playing a few missions you understand what can be looted at a glance, plus there's a 'drop quietly' button (at least in t2 for sure). In TDS the exact same items are sometimes junk, and sometimes loot. The exact same cups, candlesticks, plates and so on. You HAVE to wait for a glistening animation or you risk alert. Annoying !!!
ALSO. The sound for picking up loot was much much better in t1-2. The first time I opened a chest and could see and pick up whats inside instead of it being automatic it was interesting. But as I played longer it became annoying. There were times where looting a chest was needlessly hard without detection. The fucking 'coin bag' item gave me so much grief while playing because unlike other items you have to basically stand 1 centimeter away from it to pick it up. Which meant you had to mantle on top of the chest and get real close to it. As it relates to loot I played on hard and not expert because I Knew the 90% of the loot requirement would be annoying. The 'special loot' thing is a hit or miss depending on the mission, usually I completed it by just searching pretty well, but I rarely got 3 special loot. Here's what I think about lockpicking. A 'minigame' of lockpicking actually detracts from the thief formula. Thief actively avoids taking away control from you for any reason. In t1-2 lockpicking is extremely simple. But it never makes you enter a separate screen. You can continue moving and looking around at any time when you're lockpicking. You can even stand at an advantageous hidden position and lockpick from there. In TDS you enter a minigame you have to manually quit if you hear someone coming. Not a big deal here but we see this in thief 2014 for sure.
Thief rarely if ever takes away your control and that's important! Also to be entirely honest after a certain point picking locks was exhausting.

another day, another round of me wracking my brain trying to come up with a good fnaf timeline. this time i came to the conclusion that i should just make an au where i leave out a bunch of stuff at this point if i want to work with my own story 😭
ok this turned into a LONG rant id normally just put on my other blog but as i started here, im just gonna post it here. i also keep forgetting stuff and sometimes i come across a theory/fact that makes me go OOHH im so dumb i forgot. and it changes everything again and its probably happening again here
first, fnaf 2 is where i get stuck every single time. id love to just leave at least the toys out, sorry mangle. second, i just cant wrap my head around the whole "charlie was the first victim" idea because we get introduced to all this where we see the puppet in the toys location and the withereds.. it becomes too confusing for me. is it at the same location? was the puppet with the ogs and the toys were added later? i would say the toys are irrelevant and havent been added until the ogs were withered. anyway, i believe will could have stuffed the kids into the ogs prior to killing charlie, which would make more sense if the puppet was possessed later and then gave them life? whether the toys are or arent posessed is not important to me as much (just confuses me. like if they werent there would it change the story??), or rather it lacks some closure, like the ogs have eventually been destroyed and the spirits let free, but for the other kids (that people say are possessing the toys), we dont even know their names! or how they ended. i always think of the theories how will destroyed the ogs to take remnant from them to use in the funtimes, but nobody ever thinks of the fact that he just gets springlocked right after which would make No sense. the funtimes are an odd thing, i guess you could apply he actually took it from the toys, but why would he? is there proof? if theyre programmed to snatch kids directly, hed have enough remnant and not have to get it from previous animatronics. that said, i believe the SL location and funtimes were made early on, but had to have this kidnap/kill function only after charlies murder because if she was the first and the point of her being the first was that will found out about remnant and possession, he would want to start experimenting with it then. however, i do prefer charlies murder to be out of jealousy towards henry after losing elizabeth, which would mean the funtimes would be existing at this point (because of eliz death). or perhaps the funtimes have been a project of his (i have this little coffin theory. probably dumb, basically just each character is there to hold the body/spirit of each afton family member, baby and ballora are obvs, funfred would be cc with bonbon in the place of the walkie talkie plush to control him.. and foxy for mike, but this doesnt work unless william knows about the posession...) but baby killed elizabeth and he wanted to get her back... wouldnt then finding out about charlie and the puppet be like way too convenient? like hey, this is exactly what you need. ...and how long can a spirit persist within an object until possession using remnant? or this kind of "activation" like in give life.
now this brought me to thinking about springtrap and when exactly was he "revived". as well as other time things.. such as, i thought the spirit "degrades" over time, loses sense of self - but i guess that would apply more after the possession starts. hinted at with scrap baby, she has been baby for so long its no longer elizabeth. but springtrap, and then scraptrap, is william seemingly after decades unless his spirit possessed spring bonnie only around the time they found him? big think
and then back to the general timeline. i cant even pinpoint the very start which bugs me, so it always all starts in '83, (after fredbears existing for a bit) when i assume the bite triggered the nightmare experiments, also closing of fredbears. i think there was a freddys at that time already where the first mci would happen but as i said i like the idea of will stuffing the kids into the withereds. maybe not, maybe i gotta let that go but its just such a nice idea. theyre just there in the back, nobody cares about them, the perfect place. then he can be the one to fix them up into their fnaf 1 glory, but this applies to it even if they were stuffed there much earlier and the withering happened Because Of the decay (probably makes more sense too! so i will try to work with that instead) and you see! no puppet yet. but also no possession. hed fix them up after, put them in their own new location and go ham. as in, he also has the saferoom there with the spring bonnie suit to use. nobody suspects a thing. (i also think the golden freddy/fredbear suit could be there and thats how we got golden freddy) but you see, with this we could just throw fnaf 2 out entirely.. whether we had the withereds or not, it doesnt matter, toys dont bring much to the table other than the bite of 87, no? the puppet could work perfectly in fredbears or freddys, just waiting her turn
see what i have to live with. i already helped myself a ton by accepting that henry is just in jail after the first mci/post fredbears so i dont have to work with him too. he wasnt framed, only in charge as the owner.. and we got fazbear entertainment taking while william has afton robotics. as in, they split at some point (after the bite?) and then he works under fazent in various locations, many times under aliases. Oh which brings me to.
in this year of 2023, they finally made me care about fritz! only because its william. to me. i have no proof! other than the clickteam teaser saying "fritz", but showing dave. (if its not him im fucked.) plus, isnt all we know about him literally just an employee kicked out on the first day for tampering with the animatronics (and smelling bad)? wouldnt william do something like this? get inside, if he cant he will take another identity (a name of one of his victims even) to get in to fuck around with the animatronics. why not just go there as william?? he once owned this place..? WELL now comes another juicy part (oh god crunch is going insane) he got kicked out! he cannot be in the location. why do i think that? midnight motorist. yeah.. okay i now love the idea that rye put out there, in the house its mike and a babysitter or aunt (movie helping with the lore!!!) and the footsteps are golden freddy luring him out (movie again!! its only 2 footsteps because GF doesnt walk!! he floats!!) but that aside, im thinking of the JRs part. this doesnt matter other than a hint at other stuff, metaphors and parallels and such. JR could be fredbears previously, yeah i dont argue with any of that, but it also makes me think of it as a paralell to the toy location. a place he got kicked out of, maybe not just once, perhaps the night he killed charlie he had just been kicked out (for various reasons) which amplified his anger as we see in MM after being kicked out of JRs, ending with him killing charlie (which i think was a tiny tiny bit premeditated in the way he was jealous of henry and his happy little family, now getting this chance) much to think about
note: i dont take anything here too seriously. theorizing is always just fun so if the one person decides to read this and react in a highly negative way, just keep it to yourself. if you have strong arguments against something with proof, do bring them in, i genuinely forget about shit i read like, yesterday. i also cannot "factcheck" everything when after googling i get shit like people on quora telling me that... quote.. william was under the control of the glitchtrap virus since he was 8 years old... umm wrong!! he was forced to eat cement when he was 6!!
okay that was meant to be a closing sentence but i also thought of one more thing. and one more thing!! i was a firm and calm and collected believer of fnaf 1 taking place in '93. then came the movie, making it in the 2000s. and it changed me to the worse! i started reading up on it and found out that its all just a theory that majority latched onto and decided to take as fact. as well as the idea that springtrap was locked in for 30 years. wont factcheck rn but it was apparently 30 years from the first location being closed, not since the springlocking. which means theres no set time between that and fnaf 3. on top of that someone was saying it made more sense for fnaf 1 to take place 10 years after that, so around 2003 instead, and it made sense to me then, so yeahh...
it also ties better to help wanted onward (though fnaf3 happening later would make the previous events more mysterious, why wouldnt they look into the location sooner?) and SB not taking place in like 2050s but 2030s or so (if its true that SB is happening 10 years after the pizzaplex opening). holding onto the game!vanessa is an afton theory even stronger after the movie! i talked about it b4 but had no proof. and so we dont have any literal grandpas making babies, the sooner it goes on the better. if vanessa is ~23 during help wanted, this way shed be born sometime in the 90s or early 2000s (this kinda applies even if HW took place in 2023 right after fnaf3 but since i think it happened sooner then i would prefer to go with the 90s) and. and will could have gotten laid one last time :] and have vanessa. think about it. (yeah how old is he again... it works right? also having to put him into a straight relationship after all of this is criminal, i know. im sorry, i will do better. (lie))
in the next episode, i will go over why the mxes entity is william. good night
p.s if you read through all of this, write me an ask about whos your favorite animatronic

Something I'd love to see in like, a server or a fic or SOMETHING is just...
Let's take the whole concept of a "Toon Resistance" to its natural conclusion.
Like, the Cogs walking about the streets like they own the place, putting up Wanted Posters on the Neighborhood Streets and acting like they're in charge of the Toons and that the Toons are beholden to their laws.
Cogs trying to "Tax" Shopkeepers and taking over their shops when they can't or won't pay up.
Just... Something that shows the Cogs as a hostile and occupying force that shows ZERO respect for the Toons' actual government, while also explaining why it's called the Toon Resistance and not the "Toontown Self Defense Force".
Honestly! Like, it really doesn't take a lot to see that Cogs are corrupt with what we're given already, but I would love to see servers or just any writers in general do more with it than what TTO did, because TTO was as bare bones as it could get. Speaking of resistance, there's a piece of TTO lore you reminded me of that I like but think is underutilized and is kinda unknown because it was never brought up in the original game ever; you only knew it existed if you got trading cards in the mail. What that was is in the Jellybean trading card, Toons had a different currency than the ones in-game up due to a "Goof-ed up" delivery by Goofy causing a switch. As cute as the OG lore is, could you imagine if instead of the currency change being a slip-up, the Toon's intentionally changed their it as a way of protest and telling the Cogs to lay off? I dunno if that counts as resistance per say but I do think it'd be a pretty interesting move on the Toons part in response to the Cog's invasion, especially considering the change is on-par with the Toons' wacky lifestyle and the Cog's can't stand that about them.
ANYWAY, I believe Toontown servers has the pieces needed, but when it comes to putting it all together is where it starts to fall a bit on the wayside and leaves more to be desired, but at the same time I think it's an easy thing to fix? For instance, Toons already get kidnapped by the VP right.. it wouldn't be hard to implement Wanted or Missing posters for them scattered throughout the streets like you said, and there can be a plotline about how ever since Cogs invaded Toons have been going missing. By doing so, it incites urgency and serves as a way of saying, "hey the cogs are such a big threat they're not only taking over buildings but also kidnapping random townsfolk and sometimes even important figures like our mayor this is messed up! we need to do something about it!". Additionally, while I'm still kinda,, puzzled on how OG Lawbot works in-game and why Bumpy has been on trial for 10+ years, it's still something that's do-able I think. What if the Brrrgh / Lawbot Suit taskline was about Cogs forcing their own Rules on Toons and wrongfully incarcerating them as a show of power, and we had to fight to break them out since their system and way about everything was unfair in the first place? Idk. Ik it's only a couple of examples listed but there's stuff you can expand on!

My love hate relationship with modern Ratchet and Clank games
TW: my opinion. its ok to disagree with me and I would love to hear your perspective. please don't send me hate. thank you.
I love rift apart and I love ratchet and clank as a series. I have played it since the ps2 era and it has a very special place in my heart, I loved the future trillogy too, and I love the newer games all the same.
but also some things bother me
1- clank making a dimentionator and announcing it to the universe felt out of character.
I don't care how you spice it the entirety of ACIT had clank learning about not abusing power for selfish reasons what the fuck game.
It would have worked if literally anyone but clank did that.
2- i miss Jim Ward.
this is not the games fault I am just sad about it. Captain Qwark was one of my favorites growing up. I wish him and his family good health and fortune. thank you for making my childhood you brilliant hilarious man.
3- This entire story feels like a waste of time.
can we just END the whole thing with the lombax race already. I loved the future trilogy but its been 10 years and I want to finally move on to other stories.
either showcase the lombax race, or don't. this has been dangling so much over my head that i have to occasionally remove cobwebs from it. lets just finish this story arc and move on please!
it feels like having the boys go to a parallel "what if never met" timeline just felt… wasteful.
I love rivet and kit but they are still just genderswapped ratchet and clank. You can't really have them meet new characters because they are just meeting themselves.
Yes i know this is a stupid take but i don't care. I just feel like this story was so…. safe. nothing ground breaking or interesting and it feels a bit wasteful.
4- ratchet's personality (also a problem with the 2016 remake)
what I loved about the original trillogy is that ratchet and clank were an amazing duo.
Ratchet was gruff, a little immature, and a bit standoffish. later on he matured (probably because he was like 13 in the first game lol) but he was STILL ratchet.
this reflected off of clank being naieve but good natured and intelligent. Clank became less naieve but he was STILL clank.
but since the 2016 reboot Ratchet went from a standoffish imperfect person to a generic wonderhero every single damn hollywood protagonist has.
the problem with this is that it basically ruins the dynamic with the boys. if both Ratchet AND clank are Naive then they don't really have a lot of chemistry…
Writers: please let your characters be flawed.
I liked ratchet BECAUSE of his flaws, and it feels like ratchet's personality was sandblasted off during the movie.
5- Comedy and seriousness 2 in one shampoo.
I liked the OG trillogy for its comedy, but it had a few serious bits too, mostly in up your arsenal.
I liked the Future trilogy for its serious bits, but it had comedy bits too sprinkled here and there which was a nice way to blow off tension.
for the most part sometimes it feels like this series doesn't know if it wants to be serious or joke-ey and so its kinda neither. Its just there. it exists.
please let the writers have fun with this man. It feels like a lot of the newer stuff has a corporate stranglehold on this series so its too afraid to alienate anyone.
as they always say: to appeal to EVERYONE you end up standing out to no one at all.
why am i making this post?
because tbh I don't want ratchet and clank to turn into bland safe mush that is designed to appeal to as much people as possible.
i love this game
But also this game only really brought me neat alt characters. I like fancy brit nefarious but thats about it. nothing really stands out to me about this game beyond it's premise.
it all feels too…safe?
That's why the lombax civilization story line didn't end, its because its too dangerous to ACTUALLY explore that anymore. that is why for some bloody reason characters keep randomly pointing out how lombax ratchet is being a lombax and that is what he is.
I am not angry, but that is EXACTLY my problem.
I WANT to be angry and upset
I WANT to have my ideas challenged
its more interesting that way! I remember way back in the day people were complaining about the tonal shift in the future trillogy and how they didn't like that.
more of that please! do interesting things with the characters I love! don't just sit on all these good ideas damnit!
anyways give me your thoughts. thank you for reading my lazy weird nerd rant. I stayed up late last night playing shadows of doubt and I will probably regret posting this once I get a full nights sleep lol. oh also shipping ratchet and rivet is weird. stop it I don't want this to be another sans self incest thing. It isn't as ungodly and terrible as the Allistor and Ratchet ship but its still weird as fuck. sorry not sorry please insomniac let women in this series exist for longer than 2 games at least so that the fans can be less emotionally starved. canonize relationships you cowards.

what's the ages of llwh crew? >:33 also any fun city building/history bits you can share? B)
I ACTUALLY JUST FIGURED THIS OUT THE OTHER DAY, only general ages but!!
benten: ~30 [he/him] (younger than the rest of the cast because he went into sleep detachment on fig's orders after the murder)
itasca: ~50 [she/they] (wasn't more than a young toddler when reese died)
qyoo: ~70 [he/they] (was the baby of the original crew)
east: ~35 [she/her] (not involved with any of the og stuff but is about to make it her problem)
fig: died at ~55 [they/she] (why didn't she make it into sleep detachment after benten?)
reese: died at ~40 [she/her] (murdered)
meredith: died at ~80 (illness) [she/he] (but not before making sure that his crimes would be uncovered during the next circuit)
city building/history facts....!! ramo-o was something of a prototype/experimental city to see if a floating city would actually work as the seas got higher, so although its bones and functions were all built at the same time, a lot of it has been edited and augmented and built onto over time, so its sort of a mess and tough to navigate if you're not a local. it also served as the basis for the land-based tower cities (like new mumbai), although since ramo-o was developed prewar the skeletons of the tower cities are way more advanced. during the war several of the 'neighborhood' cities (o-rosa, o-orquídea) got destroyed + there was a bunch of other collateral damage to some others, so a handful of the neighborhood cities are newer/more up-to-date!
since ramo-o was originally a prototype post-climate-disaster city its got a ton of (semi-experimental) stuff like built-in desalinators, carbon sensors and extractors (and fabricators thst can use that carbon to make stuff), waste recyclers, wave-and-wind generated electricity, etc. most of this tech is housed in the underwater section of the cities (its about 30/70 with the majority of the mass of each city building being underwater for stability) as well as being a place for storage and anything else you can think of. most people live above the waterline but there are little apartments and stuff built in here and there 'belowdecks'
the city buildings look pretty dense from the outside but there's actually a fair amount of open space throughout. anywhere that has any windows or open spaces facing the outside has extra heavy-duty storm shutters in case of extreme weather. the center ring between all 10 city buildings is used for recreational boating, limited aquaculture, and fish farming!

Redo of "More AU Lore!"
here's a bit more lore stuff for my Welcome Home Lost Media AU, its mainly on Home and some future ideas sorry there isn't any art to accompany it ^-^"
so Home is referred to as they/them by everyone in the neighborhood, Home likes this and has a bad tendency to lash out at anyone who refers to them as anything else, which usually ends up being the people they pull in.
Home isn't what you think they are, they present themselves as a sentient house but that's not what they truly look like. Wally has glimpsed their true form but doesn't remember due to Home locking the memories of these glimpses away. Home's design hasn't changed from OG Home besides there being a bit more space. Home only gained full control over the show when the creator renewed a new deal with them. Home agreed to keep the show going for eternity so long as they could use the show to become more powerful and harvest sacrificed souls. The more power they gain the closer they get to being able to make their own physical body, which is something they've wanted since being in control of the little pocket dimension that the neighborhood resides in.
A little bit of info on the pocket dimension itself, it's been there long before Home popped into existence. It seemed whatever being had made the endless space is dormant now, Home has hidden their "dormant" form by placing his own body for the remnants of the godly being's body. It is why when Home pulls humans in on their own they become monsters, they are forced into the space while the true owner sleeps. Now back to Home lol
Home can create Haunts effortlessly though controlling them takes more effort and focus. They don't take control of Haunts often normally just pushing/nudging them in a direction. Home refers to everyone as theirs though Wally is their favorite with Frank being a distant second. Home wishes for their own body so they can interact with everyone freely and maybe even bring everyone into the real world.
The viewers and Home generally don't get along, mainly due to the viewers seeing right through Home. Wally tends to have to protect some of the more blunt/defiant viewers that won't back down or take Home's shiz. Home in response would be unnecessarily cruel to any viewers that interact during the night portion of the show. This usually ends with the viewers going "missing" while in the real world the effect is their TV/computer/phone/ipad etc. becomes broken beyond repair.

Dryderpunk tactica:
So someone mentioned GK recently, which reminded me of the Way of the Water Warrior stuff back in 5th ed, and I've got long travel today so figured would post my own art of war
I've not played since 3/4/5th, but I won & placed a few tournaments back then with speed freakz/ dark elder primarily, and I have European trophies for other tactical games
So the OG article here:
https://web.archive.org/web/20141110153815/https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/101214-the-way-of-the-water-warrior/
Was really hand back when I was smol, with helping to concept play styles, so I'm going to TLDR parts of it as part of my thing;
There are 5 main general army styles, but they not absolute
Earth: survive & out last
heavy resilience, mostly entrenched / low movement, goal is to avoid engaging enemies, either with fodder or movement limitation techniques, and blast away
Fire: aggressive & out kill
Heavy offensive, mid speed, works to destroy targets as fast as possible, often with short range armaments as the mainstay
Air: Zoom-Zoom
Heavy speed & Line of sight control, target is go fast, to get your guys where the enemy doesn't want them, either as they are hitting the enemies in the kidney, or hidden from their targets
Water: "The power of water is its ability to take any shape"
Water is less about having a standard game plan, and more about denying your opponent theirs, usually through abundance of elite troops, with either transports or movement bonuses to react, ie: get in fast Vs earth, kite away from fire, and be able to reposition enough Vs wind, while out surviving their generally less survivableable troops
Balance: bit of everything
Trying to have a whole cake, I find these not as good, as the highest threat to opponent will become first target, and there is less backup for once it's down
