Do not EVER let anyone tell you that being transspecies and seeking some form of social transition isn't possible and that "nobody will call you that". Ive had so many friends (mind you, friends who ive NEVER asked to do this / dont even know im transspecies) just casually refer to me as an animal in front of others like it's the most normal thing in the world (Ex. "Well obviously they need to go on a walk, they are a dog after all 🙄") Have realistic expectations ofc, but no, it's absolutely not impossible for humans to perceive you as your true identity and to openly refer to you as such

I do think it’s important to clarify in your OP about the house bill that this is anti-trans legislation first and foremost. while it’s of concern for alterhumans, it is very deliberately being proposed as a way to frame trans people as animals & target trans kids—the author of the bill doesn’t actually care (and probably doesn’t know) about alterhumanity.
This bill will be used to prop up transphobic laws, and probably isn’t intended to be passed at all. I don’t think removing or ignoring that context is appropriate.
- a trans therian
I was going to make a reblog about this exact thing, but I'll say what I was going to say there here instead because I think it's important to make sure everyone gets the chance to see this. This is going to be long because I tend to ramble. TL;DR: Conservatives are not framing transgender people themselves as animals, but their arguments about/beliefs regarding people who identify as animals are absolutely deeply rooted in transphobia, which itself is deeply rooted in a fear/hatred of any "divergent identity." These two concerns are very closely entwined and are part of the same fight (the fight of "just let people be whoever they are"), but are not in and of themselves the same in the sense that this lawmaker is trying to target transgender folks with this specific bill. What makes this bill particularly concerning is the fact that it treats nonhuman-identities as their own separate issue, along with the media coverage it has been getting, which could easily spark other more "viable" anti-"furry" bills to be written and potentially passed in more conservative states across the country. However, this is not a time to panic, but rather a time to be vigilant and start thinking about how we need to prepare to defend one another against whatever comes next.
The fight for trans rights certainly still needs to be at the forefront of our minds, and we also need to be watchful for this threat that is creeping out from the cesspool that is the conservative need for any kind of new "monster" to blame society's problems on.
-Sincerely, another trans therian.
The whole "litterboxes in schools/students identifying as cats/animals" thing started with conservatives who said "if we let people identify as another gender its only a matter of time before people start identifying as animals." These people are well aware that transgender does not mean somebody who identifies as a different species - their concept of nonhuman identifying folks absolutely is rooted in transphobia, but is not in and of itself necessarily about transgender folks.
Reality is, anti-trans legislation and anti-"furry" (read: therian, otherkin, transspecies, etc. - though furries who aren't part of these labels would ultimately be affected as well) legislation are two sides of the same coin - but they are still two distinct sides. That coin is the "divergent identities" coin (and really has many facets, not just two... so... perhaps more of a "divergent identities" cube?), as I'll call it. Anything that isn't cis, het, christian, human-identifying, etc. would be considered a "divergent" identity - a disorder, an illness, something to be cured, something to be eliminated.
Yes, anti-"furry" clauses have up until now been wrapped up with anti-transgender bills. That's conservatives trying to, pardon the horrible cliche, kill two birds with one stone - but one bird they are assuming exists/believe exists because of a sensationalist story, not because they necessarily know it actually exists. Make absolutely no mistake though, now that even the slight possibility of nonhuman identifying folks is on their radar, they are going to work to - in their mind - prevent it, and "cure" (read: eliminate by whatever means they feel necessary) it for whoever already fits that description.
Up until now, it's been a side issue. Something to just tack onto anti-trans bills. The fact that some jerk of a lawmaker decided that it was a strong enough issue on its own to create its own bill is concerning because this marks the first time that it is being treated less like a hypothetical or a side problem, and more like it's own separate issue worth addressing.
However, these two are part of the exact same fight, and cannot/should not be considered entirely separate. The fight is not just about "let trans people be trans," the fight is about "let people be whoever they are." That includes being any sexuality other than allo-het, that includes any religion other than christian (not necessarily an "identity", but still), that includes being anything other than cisgender, and yes, it includes identifying as any species other than human. The focus has recently been particularly targeted at trans folks, but remember that before it was trans folks, it was anyone who wasn't straight.
Conservatives always need a "monster" to defeat. They rely on the outrage of the ignorant and the bigoted in order to get what they want. Its why so many of their talking points aren't really about the economy or infrastructure but instead are about things like abortion, "illegal immigrants," non-Western nations in general, religions that are seen as "foreign" or "satanic," and any identity that isn't considered "normal." The reality is, issues like poverty, poor infrastructure, and prevalent violence are issues that can't just be solved in a day - but humans like quick fixes, so some folks (especially conservatives, though they're certainly not the only ones) think if they can blame all of these issues on anyone who is considered an "other," then many people will be quick to follow them in trying to eliminate the "other" and just push aside all of the real problems that continue to, in someway or another, benefit the people in power.
It only takes one conservative with even half a braincell to decide to google "people who identify as animals" after seeing that a bill was penned to target this specifically, to discover that we therians/otherkin/transspecies folks/etc. really do exist and that the identity is starting to gain more traction especially among youth (thanks, TikTok). I don't think the guy that penned this bill is that one conservative (this dude apparently once tried to create "bigfoot hunting season" so. y'know. i don't think he's doing much research about anything lmao), but with the media attention this bill has gained, it's only a matter of time.
HOWEVER - THIS IS NOT A TIME TO PANIC. I literally cannot stress this enough. Panic is not the response we need to have, but rather vigilance and preparedness for the day nonhuman identities eventually do find their way into the spotlight so that we can be ready for whatever we need to do to fight back against whatever future bills may follow.

Wtf even *is* a 'radqueer'?! My attempts to research this all led to bizarre shit like people thinking they're actually dinosaurs (or were in a past life) or that fetishes are a legitimate sexuality, or insisting that white supremacy is actually okay as long as you feel guilty about it??? Does radqueer just mean 'any random bizarre shit is my identity/sexuality and if you find that odd you're some form of phobic'?? Because that's how it reads from the outside.
You can find the original 'coining' post of radqueers in our archival post. However, the group is essentially made up of people who use terms like 'transracial,' 'transage,' 'transspecies' which belonged to other groups (transracial to adoptees, transage to systems, age regressors, those who are agestuck due to trauma, etc. and transspecies belonging to otherkin, alterhumans and nonhumans) with no regard for their original purpose nor usage.
The community is also pro-para, which wouldn't be a problem in and of itself if it weren't for the fact the community does have beings who are pro-contact (meaning they support acting on one's paraphilias, whether harmful or not.) Paraphilias do not inherently make one immoral, seeing as not everyone wants to act on their paraphilias, but there are large groups in the radqueer community who encourage acting on it.
They also 'coin medical disorders' (known as MUDs, medically unrecognized disorders) which I hope you can see the issue of.
The issue with their usage of TransIDs isn't that they support transitioning (transdisabled is typically used by those with BIID, if other treatments do not work and amputations or other things are the only option left to deal with your dysphoria, then it's the only option left. Or with transspecies, wearing fursuits, paw gloves, etc. to help deal with your dysphoria doesn't hurt anyone. Our support of transitioning does not extend to transage, transracial, or other 'coined' Radqueer terms). It's that they've stolen terms that belonged to other groups of people.
It's that they trivialize these identities by labelling them as 'trans,' causing outsiders to view them a as an 'equivalent' to what transgender means. On top of that, there are most definitely beings who use transIDs and transX terms for the 'aesthetic' due to its broad definition. The original terms were meant to help those who are mentally ill (i.e. have psychosis and suffer delusions in some way), experience atypical dysphoria, or a disconnect from their physical body for other reasonings.
There's most definitely more, but I believe this covers the basis of it.

I keep seeing this from people exiting the radqueer community, so I want to address it:
Some of the things that the radqueer community supports are not harmful in of themself or inherently radqueer beliefs or stances. It's easy to go from one extreme to the other in an attempt to course correct, which is something I am seeing happen very often.
Things that are not inherently radqueer:
- Support of endogenic systems (There's actually a very long history of endogenic systems being included in the plural community, even before the DID diagnosis was recognized. The earliest online plural communities included soulbonders, spiritual systems, and more, then disordered systems broke off into their own communities and infighting started.)
- Destigmatization of paraphilias and encouragement of recovery for those who need/want it (Pro paraphilia is not the same as being pro-contact). This includes kinks and fetishes that may make you uncomfortable like ABDL, CGL/MDLB/DDLG, etc.
- Having a complicated relationship with fiction due to trauma or other life experiences
- Transspecies and other alterhuman identities
- Having a complicated relationship with age due to trauma, disability, or being alterhuman in some way
- Educated self-diagnosis, recognizing flaws in the medical system and having to fight for a professional diagnosis of a condition
- Acknowledging that minors have sexualities that develop and that minors do need proper sex education to stay safe.
- BIID
Things that are inherently radqueer:
- Transplural, transDID, and other ways to "transition" to be plural that treat plurality with less weight than needed due to things like system responsibility, how seriously creating a thoughtform should be taken, etc
- Treating everything as if it is as fluid as queerness, or applying queer stances to non-queer parts of identity such as race, disability, paraphilias, species, etc that are not as fluid (Transid in general)
- Lack of respect for closed or semi-open cultures, practices, and communities based on the idea of being a part of that in a past life or some other reason. I put transrace/trace under this category
- Being pro-contact, radpara, or pro-complex/consensual contact for paraphilias that can cause harm to others or oneself if unsafely interacted with
- Believing children can consent and deserve to have sexual spaces that can be open to adults. This includes anything like "minors in kink," saying that minors should make and profit off of sexual content of themselves, or encouraging children to interact with adults or each other in a sexual way
- Romanticising disabilities and seeing them a desirable to have, and not the reality of ableism that people with those conditions experience. Attempting to gain disabilities out of envy of those who have them, or trying to gain a disability that you do not have and relying on stereotypes to "pass." Not listening to people who do have the conditions about the ableism they contribute to
If you're getting out of the radqueer space, you need to make sure to keep out of discourse that does not involve you (i.e. being anti/pro endo as a singlet, since there is already a massive problem with fakeclaiming and singlets using professionally diagnosed systems as a shield to allow themselves to have a space in our community and fakeclaim systems). Trying to course correct from one stance by going to the opposite stance without actually looking into it or if you can/should even get involved in the first place is harmful.
The best thing to do would be to take your time, since radqueer is one extreme and the other extreme is reactionary and based around a need to police others based on personal discomfort. Don't try to deconstruct it all immediately, but when you feel ready you can. The radqueer stance hijacks other movements to try to legitimize itself, since those other movements are more accepted than its own.

I'm transspecies. I'm also transgender (and transsex).
It's really difficult to talk about. Specifically because of fear. People get really mad when you compare being transspecies to being transgender. They believe being transspecies isn't as legitimate, can't be as or more difficult (for anyone), and therefore any comparison, even by someone who is both, who is just explaining their own personal experiences, is seen as delegitimizing and transphobic.
And they will absolutely try to make that my problem.
... I do want to talk about it though.

I feel like what a lot of people who insist on stolen terms don't get is that the transid community is not "claiming" the terms are "ours"- it'd be like saying "the LGBT community stole the terms gay and lesbian from homosexuals and ftm, mtf and nonbinary from the trans community!"
No, the transid community is people who are transspecies, are transabled, etc, and said "I wish there was a way we could talk together about and break down the walls about these topics." The transabled term was not stolen from transabled people who don't call themselves transid- transid people ARE transabled people who choose to identify under the umbrella for the sake of community.
The only term that can really be applied this logic would be transracial, which most people don't use DUE TO THAT ISSUE. It's like, a problem that resolved like a year or 2 ago. I mostly see trolls use it to make people mad.
Transpecies isn't being stolen by transid people, transid just means trans-identity. It means an aspect of your identity is trans to you. So, yeah, it fits in with people who consider an aspect of their species in any way shape or form, to be transess. Transpecies.
People can be gay and not call themselves LGBT. I don't, I consider myself a part of the queer community first and foremost. I would be off my rocker to say LGBTs are stealing the word gay.
That's how "transid people are stealing the word transpecies!" Sound.

Friendly reminder that you DO NOT have to be radqueer if you are transspecies.
Transspecies has been a term within the alterhuman community long before radqueers decided to coopt it, it is not inherently part of that community and never will be. I promise you there are other spaces/people out there that will support you for who you are; you do not need to align yourself with harmful ideologies just to find acceptance. <3

honestly i dont really care much about transID like does a lot of it confuse me and make me uncomfortable... yes. do i see a niche community of people who probably have understandable feelings behind whatever this is as a threat to my wellbeing... no. i have much bigger problems. like fighting the government to give me money so i can Survive and escape my abusive bigoted father.
also i do get some transID like, transspecies and transage. i feel kinda transage myself. so. im not even completely opposed or whatever. just feel the need to say this bc of what i said before. although i still do understand that the term transracial had a prior meaning and that's, really important.

Yes Rouge, thank you for listening to my insane ramblings about DBZ and Just Dance
Sup. I'm the ratman, another lunatic with a blog. Glad you could make it. Lemme ramble about myself for a bit
Disclaimer: Would really recommend you follow this blog with caution if you're a minor. I'm an adult, and while I keep this blog as SFW as I can, I post and reblog adult things at times. Interaction is free and fine, as is this is not a DNI/DNF! Just a caution. And please block the tags #ratman rants and #ratman after dark to be on the safe side. You've been warned!
Blinkies.cafe for all your blinkie needs. #flashing lights will be used on all my posts with blinkies.

Who am I?
Just a filthy queer in his basement with ridiculous spiritual beliefs and mental problems. But we vibin.
As far as names go, ratman or The Boys works just fine.
Bit of an amateur cook. Autism be damned I can work a stove. Not a grill thats scary.
I'm a seamstress when I feel adventurous. It's fun to dress up and cosplay a bit. Would love more time to do DIY shit.
Started T early 2021, top surgery late 2022.
I have cats. I love cats.
System-wise, we're a mixed bag. If you really must know, yes it started because of The Trauma. Although not everything has to do with our childhood lore. The soulbonds certainly don't.
If you guess a kintype of ours correctly I'll send you a Jolly Rancher in the mail /j
What do I post about?
Fandom, of course. Mainly DBZ and Just Dance, some Homestuck, maybe a bit of Undertale. The occasional Fablehaven if I'm really feeling it. Others to pop up as shit filters through my dash.
Fanfiction. Which I write when I feel like it. Will be tagging as #ratman scribbles in the future.
Art. I also draw when I feel like it. Tagged with #ratman doodles
Some serious topics I think are important, in some form or fashion. Will be tagged with #ratman rants if you need to avoid them.
#ratman after dark for anything particularly spicy if ykwim. This gets a lot more use on my sideblog to be fair-
Where else can you find me?
@saffronthreads is the selfship sideblog. 18+ ONLY.
Theres a very inactive system blog at @theboysbevibin too I guess?
Who can interact? Anyone really, unless I hit the block button. But let's just cover some bases.
What I reblog =/= a full endorsement of the post or a full reflection of my beliefs.
Pupgender bi gay demiboy with paw/it pronouns? Fuck yeah. Lesbian men? Friends, all of them. "But they're mocking REAL-" I don't give a fuck. Transspecies? Hell yeah friends, sorry there's some shitty people trying to steal that term-
Trans-BPD? Nah I don't think so. If you're really of the mindset that you "should" have a disorder you don't have, or "should" be a race that you aren't a part of already... Put the blog down and re-evaluate. Sorry. These identities play by different rules, you don't just "transition" to another the way you do gender. Also quit stealing terms that ain't yours.
"Oh you're in fandom? Are you pro or anti-" The things I have to say would have them both on my ass. I'm all for fuck-nasty art (yes even THAT immoral shit, yes even if the art doesn't explicitly condemn the immoral shit being depicted). But that ain't something you can just pick up and make. Let alone publish online, or criticize meaningfully. Unless there's a real kid (or otherwise) involved, it ain't the governments business to ban or arrest anyone over fuck-nasty art (and that would lead to WAY too many other problems). Pick better words than pro/anti nonsense, it's 2024. Say "taboo fetish content". Say what you mean.
On that note, if you're really gonna label me as a "proshipper" or an "anti", fine. I'm neither, but I'm not your dad so I can't stop you. But I'm not figuring out whether or not I fit in your DNI, so if you don't like my stances, block me. Or tell me. Idfk something along those lines. I just get real salty about this topic in particular.

its always sad seeing anti-radqueer pro para blogs still be anti-transid experiences. makes me feel like i don't fit anywhere.
In my opinion, the dysphoria behind transids is entirely valid. You can't control how your brain feels about certain things. The problem is that transids steal labels from other people and completely change the definitions, taking away resources from people and making innocent people look bad (like with transracial adoptees and transspecies folks).
Most blogs I know, as well as me, are anti-transid but are pro-oculoid (which is like transid but is against harmful "transitioning" and doesn't steal terms)! I suggest you look into oculoids if you want to find non-harmful alternatives to transid terms.
Dysphoria behind transids can definitely be a real thing, and shouldn't be treated as inherently wrong or bad. How you feel internally doesn't determine if you're good or bad, it's how you act and what you do with those feelings that determines that.
If you're anti-radqueer and don't support "racial transitioning" or chrono-adults dating chrono-minors or faking disorders - congrats, you're welcome here! Even if you have dysphoria around your race or internally feel like a different age, most anti-radqueers will support you.
It sucks that you've had bad experiences in the past (I've also seen a couple people not believe in atypical dysphoria, unfortunately), and I hope that you're able to find more people who support you.

So I thought it was about time I made one of these.
For starters, I'm bigender (agender + maverique) and this affects my practice in a major way. I know we're all sick of binary gendered magic and correspondences, but I approach this in a way that honors both my gender and lackthereof. The way I see it, either all gendered energies are divine, or none of them are. I choose to believe all gendered energies have divine equivalents, and that the divine masc and fem are not inherently better or more real than divine nonbinary energies. Hell, this blog is even named after the divine maverine (the maverique gender quality equivalent to masc and fem)
I do wanna try and post more of my practice, so we'll see how that goes.
I use it/thon/love pronouns
I am not a witch, as the term gives me gender dysphoria. Practitioner/mage/magician are the terms I use instead
I'm a transspecies fairy changeling, so if you have a problem with that, just fuck off
I don't belong to any religion currently, but I'm not agnostic/atheist
Ex-pagan
I'm a writer/storyteller which is something that has influence in my practice
My magical interests include:
Sex Magic
Storm Magic
Kitchen Magic
Writing Magic
Glamor Magic
Techno Magic
Queer Magic
Tarot/Cartomancy/Oracle/Lenormand
Rapsodomancy/Bibliomancy
Astrology
Sigil Work
Nonbinary Gender Divinity/Archetypes/Correspondances
I guess I'm dabbling in numerology now?
I might look into herbology idk
Planning on making my own tarot/divination decks
My only DNI is cultural appropriators and n@zis/f@scists/white supr3macists. I do block liberally, however.

hey, can someone tell me why people dislike “transspecies” people? i can fully understand why transrace and transautistic etc are harmful but why is transspecies? like if you genuinely wanna transition to look more like a cat or something i see no problem in that because as far as i know it isn’t hurting any oppressed minorities
