Is Grace Chastity a Martyr?

Something has been weighing on me about the nature of the price Grace paid: How is Grace having sex with Max equivalent to what the Lords in Black could have had in exchange?

They enjoyed watching Max Jaegerman go on his murder spree thus far. Blinky even says he would like to see him rip them to bloody bits.

The price Steph or Pete would have had to pay is a double win situation for them. On top of getting to torture Max forever, they get: a) To torment either Pete or Steph in the Black and White forever. b) The person who pulled the trigger will be wracked with unspeakable guilt and grief forever (a form of emotional torment).

In comparison, Grace was in control of the seduction, she wasn't physically hurt by him at all, she leaves looking calmer and more relieved than she has been the entire show. It doesn't even seem like her pride has been damaged in the slightest. So why did the Lords In Black accept her method of payment?

Then I realised why the phrasing was so important: She paid the Lords in Black her Chastity. She gave them a religious vow. Also, there's no accident that Chastity is her name. She gave up a piece of herself to save her friends.

I went back and watched the summoning again, but this time focusing on Grace's reaction (which I can highly recommend, Angela's acting is a masterclass). There is not one second where her where she reveres the creatures before her, where she could even consider using this power for a crusade. She is in tears, in shock and in fear. Especially as Wiggly brings up sacrificing what they treasure most.

In fact, with the exception of calling God a son of a bitch in the police station (when she was understandably stressed, and later apologised for). Her faith isn't really shaken, tested yes. But not shaken. Even when she learns the truth about Hatchetfeild.

i’m working on something new: a Blinkie Transcription Project to archive & transcribe blinkies from Geocities!

basically i have a big folder of over 6000 blinkies which i got from GifCities. i want to make a searchable database of blinkies: you could type some text and see all the blinkies with that text, and click on any of them to visit the page they were archived from!

6000 blinkies is A Lot to transcribe, so i could really use some help. i made a spreadsheet so anyone can contribute a transcription!! volunteer transcribers will be credited & linked when the project is complete. i really appreciate any help, even if it’s just one or two blinkies!! this is also a fun way to unearth some old web treasures that might have been buried in the Internet Archive for decades :D

Funny idea came mind as I'm rewatching Trollhunters.

Troll Jim but it's Devil Fruit flavored.

Let me explain, in an anime/manga called One Piece there's a type of treasure known as Devil Fruits. Fruit said to be enchanted by sea devils and grant unique powers to whoever eats them. Well, at the cost of not being able to swim again.

There are three types: Paramecia, Zoan and Logia. Zoan is the main focus as those who eat this Devil Fruit can transform into different living creatures. Animals, human, prehistoric life, gods and most importantly mythical creatures like trolls. Every Zoan has a set of three different forms. Their normal form, beast form and hybrid which is a combination of the former two.

Now I got different examples of this idea: human Jim who ate a Troll based Devil Fruit and a Full Troll Jim who ate a Human based Devil Fruit.

Let's start with human Jim.

When he was 7 years, he ate the Troll Troll Fruit Model Oni (a Japanese variant of trolls). The fruit looked like an odd blue cherry with spirals all over it so he thought nothing of it. Barbara definitely gotten a major fright as her son shifted into his hybrid form.

Now unlike Merlin's spell, the Devil Fruit doesn't transfer over any myth based weakness like trolls turning to stone in sunlight. Clothes also shift to fit the fruit's different forms. Jim is an Oni, not a unclassified troll species like with Merlin's spell, which means he can essentially gain power related to them such as lightning manipulation.

Our dear Jimbo is quick to control and master this power mainly for his mother's sake. Toby doesn't find out until the events of Trollhunters begins. Now this leads to some canon divergence.

Jim saves Kanijar by hurling him into the shade of the bridge but the Trollhunter still receives sunburned injuries from Bular. His dominant hand and left leg had been shattered into pieces as it was a think fast or regret moment. (Jim was on an early run in Oni form at that time so he witnessed the commotion. Kanijar ain't angry about the strange troll breaking his limbs as he would've been dead otherwise.)

Jim leaves once he knows the injured troll is safe, well, not without giving the Trollhunter a huge shock as the teen runs off into the sunlight completely unharmed. Draal becomes the next Trollhunter as the Amulet deems itself too dangerous for Kanijar to wield in his current state.

Blinky and AAARRRGGHH do seek Jim out but for a different reason. A troll capable of walking in sunlight would be a huge target especially if Bular is roaming around. They don't find Jim until Toby and him get chased like in canon. Our Devil Fruit user had shifted earlier so he could carry his friend on his back.

Although the two didn't expect the large troll to change into a human clearly without magic. Team Trollhunters still forms but how it happens is completely different. Do know that Vendel is gonna get a shit ton of headaches from the incoming shenanigans.

Now for Troll Jim.

He's the nephew of Deya the Deliverer who gotten separated from everyone during the Battle of Killahead Bridge. A whelp that would later on eat the Human Human Fruit Model Surya (a Hindu Sun God) outta starvation. The fruit giving him a human(oid) appearance alongside an immunity to sunlight in every form.

Jim learns to master his powers as he travels around the world until settling down in Arcadia, a few years before the events of the show. The teenage Troll had planned for it to be a temporary stay if it wasn't for a certain Barbara Lake. She gotten into an accident when trying to avoid hitting a deer one night. Jim saved her and tends to her injuries.

It was hook line n sinker even before Barbara found out he's a teenager in troll years. Jim got adopted pretty quickly especially when he calls her mom multiple times outta habit. Like in the opposite scenario: Kanijar is saved but still injured alongside only Barbara knowing about Jim's inhuman nature until Bular chases him and Toby.

It takes a bit longer for Trollmarket to find out he is Deya's missing nephew. And oh boy does everyone freak out as they thought he was dead or had been kidnapped. How is Jim able to turn into a human(actually a god yet they don't know) but also immune to sunlight even in troll form??? Overall absolute chaos and confusion yet still welcomed.

A certain wizard isn't gonna have it easy with either Jim if you're wondering. Jimbo is more blunt than in canon and ready to call someone out on their bullshit. Learning to master the powers of a cursed fruit will do that to someone. Trollmarket got a full blown taste at just how vindictively blunt Jim is.

Nerdy Siblings au rant time is back! After a long mental debate about this au, I saw a post that made me remember that the things I create are for my enjoyment. So I’m going to continue this au! :D

• During the summoning, Wiggly is told that only he, has to do something to get rid of Max. No loophole. Just him

• Speaking of the summoning, the siblings get a glimpse of the Entities in Shadows true forms when Webby and Wiggly are talking about their tech

• Pete was the one that added that only Wiggly has to give up what he treasures, cause he knew the siblings would be smart on getting rid of Max

• Nibbly, Tinky, and Blinky thought of the prank on Max. Pokey was too tired to stop their planing and they dragged Wiggly with them so he can take the blame if something goes wrong

• Webby saw when Max falls and when her younger brothers noticed that she saw that too, she gets a unanimous “WIGGLY'S FAULT!" While Wiggly makes an offended noise-

• Webby hears Hannah’s warning about summoning the other entities but Webby ignores the warnings because 1) she doesn’t know how to explain where she got the warnings from to her siblings and 2) it was too late when she was going to say something

It's kinda hard to believe from Critics that People will say that "The Magic Riddle walked just so Shrek could run" when folks keep forgetting some prehistorical facts when it comes to Modernazing a Fairy Tale or even Do a Mega Crossover with all of the Old Literature being put in One Big Fat World. Even with Some Other Fairy Tale Media before Shrek.

If you're confused to know, I've just seen people comparing an Australian Animated Film called "The Magic Riddle" (which is a suppose adaptation of the Cinderella fairytale) with DreamWorks' Adaptation of Shrek (which reminds Me of the comparison between "The Water Babies" and "Alice in Wonderland"). One being the Latter still being Watched Today while The Former has not. But unlike those 2 Victorian Literature works, there happened to be other Fairy Tale Crossovers or Ones that have Modernized the Literature Works that we've recognized as of Today long before Shrek came into the Universe.

I have nothing against people who dislike or hate "The Magic Riddle" (being that it's made behind the same company with their own Adaptations of "Blinky Bill", "Dot and The Kangaroo" and my most favorite being, "Tabaluga"), but this is just something that I had to get off my chest if people who have seen TMR need to know this importantly.

Shrek was never really established as an Original Creation from DreamWorks with the idea of having All Fairy Tale characters set in the same world with a Modernized in the Medieval Century diet with a Parody genre, Shrek was actually a Children's Book by William Steig. The plotline of the Original Shrek was completely different then the One that we all now, even from Today's standards of Pop Culture.

Shrek actually came out 1 year before The Magic Riddle, meaning that The Original Shrek story had No Absolute Fairy Tale Characters, thus, it only had its own Original Characters in its Original Story where's the Foreign Movie had its own Fairy Tale Crossover (even before when 10 Years that DreamWorks picked it up as a Successful franchise), meaning the Actual Shrek story was meant to be a huge Mockbuster Parody of the Cliche Fairy Take genre of rescuing a Damsel in Distress and having a Hero's Journey.

Neither of the Two Storylines between a Book and a Famous Fairytale Adaptation were even that close of being similar but Shrek is a Comdey Story that's meant to be a Parody of all Fairy Tales whereas The Magic Riddle is meant to have its own Modern Adaptation of the Cinderella story mixed with Other Famous Stories.

Sure, you could at least say that the Foreign Film itself probably gave it the inspiration towards DreamWorks' adaptation but I still wouldn't want to buy it in a Very Huge Bad Light as someone who Watches Foreign Films and even Looking for Lost/Obscure Media around its Treasures.

But what really bugs Me about that kind of Topic is that Everyone tends to Forget that there Other Fairy Tale parody media, even long before when Shrek or even The Magic Riddle came in.

The Examples that I am deeply talking about are the ones that either have a Crossover or Modernize in a Medieval Setting within a Fairy Tale (meaning that The Magic Riddle is not the first thing to pass it on through Shrek).

Let Me Just Say This Out Loud Through My Chest...

Into The Woods and Donkeyskin (1970) were the Very First Fairy Tale adaptations to Parodize a Fairy Tale way long before Shrek was made.

Let Me have a Better Explanian of these Two Parodies and how they've done it before these Said Media's existance.

Into The Woods was probably a First Fairy Tale crossover on Stage, that being with its own Original Main Lead Characters before Shrek about a Couple walking through the Woods, only to find unexpected plotlines of Fairy Tale characters in their own Stories and then Random Things just suddenly happen in a Fairy Tale trouble (which is just something in One Common that would be part of that Trope with how both the Shrek films and The Magic Riddle did), so it's positive to say that the Musical would've been the Huge Influence behind the Ogre Story besides than the Cinderella crossover, even when Disney would then go on to Adapt their version of the Musical as Into The Woods always held up its own Broadway throughout the Years which can prove that the Musical is too recognizable than the Australian one that would've been the real huge inspiration for Shrek and The Magic Riddle is what I can clearly consider.

The 70s French Adaptation of "Donkeyskin" (within the exact same Cinderella trope made by the Same French Author behind the Original Story) isn't necessarily a Fairy Tale crossover but rather, it parodies the Original Story with some Modern techniques. It plays off as a Comdey version of the Other Fairy Tale as it even has unexpected ending that it's actually a Story within its own Modern Era set within its own Medieval Time Period (too many decades before Shrek would do that).

That being said, those are indeed prime examples of how that there Other Possiblites to interpret a Fairy Tale crossover that you can do besides then The Big One (Happily N'Ever After, Ever After High, and Enchanted are prime examples).

I don't mind some negative Magic Riddle reviews but honestly, I'm just not really the kind of person who would compare Two Properites of Unfamiliarity and Familirity in a "Bad" Light. As an Obscure Fangirl, it just kinda really hurts Me seeing I find something interesting that No One cares about and then sprays it as a Bad Light with comparing the Famous One in a Good Light, just because the Latter is more popular than the Former.

Granted, I do agree that "The Magic Riddle" could've been more if it wasn't such a mess but the Concept Trailer just sounds so something of what we could've had gotten instead.
