This post is going to be an assortment of Hotwheels cars that I’ve bought recently.
I don’t remember exacty when I got any of these Hot Wheels, but I figured posting them as a group would help cut down my queue by a little bit.
Street Beasts:
Turtoshell
Turtoshell is a car in the form of a turtle. Yea, that’s it.
Actually I love it; it’s such a fun car.
You got this cyber nature turtle on wheels with the turtle shell having engine components with the flippers and the head cast in a green plastic.
It’s got painted one eyes, I suppose to resemble headlights. It would have been nice if they were sculpted too, but there’s already so much sculpted detail on this things I guess the headlights were a bridge too far.
It rolls well, it looks good, and I like it.
HW Glow Wheels:
Aero Pod
The Aero Pod is part of the ‘Glow Wheels’ collection. It’s basically a party van moonrover. Yea, that’s it.
It’s got a lot of bright yellow/green coloring and paint effect.
The front canopy seats three. Who knows what’s suppose to be in back.
After exposing the Aero Pod a lamp for about 30 minutes and the wheels do glow a little bit. It’s a fun idea but personally I’m not going to play with my toy cars in the dark.
Retro Racers:
GT-Scorcher
The GT-Scorcher is a green race car. Yea it looks pretty cool, and it kind of reminds me of the Autobot Wheeljack.
The Scorcher has a lot of advertisements all over the car, and even the ‘Hotwheels’ brand on the spoiler.
Ultra Hots:
‘87 Buick Regal GNX
The Buick Regal, for me, is a reminder of the 80′s. My dad had a car like this, and when I saw this I kind of had to get it.
This burgundy with some orange stripes painted on it.
The wheels are a little to silly for me; Hot Wheels has been using those types of wheels since the 90′s I think. I guess if it ain’t broke...
HW Screen Time:
X-34 Landspeeder
Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder from the first Star Wars movie.
This thing’s got a lot of molded detail, and paint deco isn’t too bad either.
No driver for the landspeeder, but that’s par for the course for HotWheels cars.
It’s got 4 wheels, and it rolls okay on a smooth surface.
Character Cars:
Captain Rex
These Character Cars are pretty fun too, and I had to get Captain Rex from the Clone Wars series.
The Capatin Rex vehicle is an SUV which has the look of the clone captain’s helmet.
It’s got a molded Republic symbol on the back covering the spare tire.
Notches from all the battle droid it’s destroyed...at least I so. Would suck if it was little old ladies...
You see some molded detailed guns on the sides of the SUV.
The Captain Rex car is really cool, it rolls well, and generally looks cool.
Matchbox
1936 Ford Coupe
The Matchbox Ford is the only outlier of the group considering it isn’t a Hotwheels product.
I don’t have too much to say about it other than it’s a classic car from a bygone era, and it looks great.
It rolls well, looks sharp, that’s about it.
They don’t make cars like this anymore.
Final Thoughts:
There’s something about toy cars that just brings out the little kid in me. These are all pretty fun,
Each one of these is fun in different ways, but I have to say my favorite has to be the 86 Buick Regal, since as a kid my parents had one. What can I say, I’m an 80′s kid at heart.
Mattel - Hot Wheels - Street Beasts 5/5 - Turtoshell🐢
my hot wheels collection consists of a lot of weird types of toy car designs cause I'm into that. This is no exception. I really like the different color wheels added to this one 💯
The stray kitten my grandma takes care of. She’s so pretty and friendly; I can’t believe her owners abandoned her. We call her Calamity Jane or just Calamity.
Welcome to Match Number Eight of the Junkyard Joust Home Game! We’ve got another exciting brawl for you this week, let’s meet the teams:
First up is Bitchin’ Camaro! Not content to just go down to the shore, these muscle cars are looking to do donuts on your lawn! From left to right we have:
‘67 Camaro, 23 grams
Camaro Z-28, 32 grams
‘70 Camaro RS, 32 grams
Camaro-1, 37 grams, and their team captain
2011 Chevy Camaro, 63 grams
Next we have Creature Crashers! Styled after various animals, they might look cute but they pack a punch. From left to right we have:
Turtoshell, 29 grams
Duck and Roll, 30 grams
Ratical Racer, 30 grams
Hotweiler, 37 grams and their team captain
Shark Shifter, 35 grams
And finally we have the Toymasters! From left to right we have
Barbie DreamCamper, 32 grams
See Me Rollin’, 32 grams—This car doubles as a random number generator, with a cylindrical 6 sided die functioning as the rear wheels!
Custom Small Block, 38 grams—This car is made from interlocking blocks
Mega Thrust, 43 grams—This car doubles as a toy pinwheel that you can blow in to make it spin, and finally, their team captain, the toy master himself:
Norman’s Toy Shop, 50 grams
Welcome back to Evil Weevil our buffer car. EW starts every round to help the competitors find their place on the track; take it away E dubs!
That’s a new one! Evil Weevil flips over at the track stop; our competitors will aim at the fearsome mandibles of the buffer car!
Custom Small Block, missing a piece that flew off in round one, drives the wedge shaped Ratical Racer into the Camaro, popping it off the track! The Camaro makes a recovery, then both Custom Small Block and the 1970 RS take their sweet time driving to other positions. Ratical Racer has taken the place that his teammate Turtoshell had a few runs ago. Not a safe place, and Bitchin’ Camaro is next.
Ratical Racer tries to get underneath the Camaro but can’t quite do it! Turtoshell tips over the track stop and onto her back, that’s another elimination for Creature Crashers who got through the first round with no eliminations at all! It looked like they were the team to beat, but now they have to rally just to stay in the game.
It’s a best case scenario for the Toymasters on that run! Duck and Roll tries to make Norman’s Toy Shop assassinate his teammate, but Custom Small Block takes the hit and turns it into a nice short flight with a soft landing, cushioned by Turtoshell. That’s the story of round two: Toymasters standing up to dethrone Creature Crashers, with Bitchin’ Camaro acting as a minor inconvenience.
And that’s the end of round two and here are the survivors: Toymasters only lost one vehicle, Bitchin’ Camaro lost two out of three cars, and Creature Crashers went in with a full team and lost three members! Toymasters start up round three next!
The 1970 Camaro RS tries to shove Turtoshell off the track but just doesn’t have enough mass. Turtoshell is now perched on the track stop, and she may be in trouble!
It’s Turtoshell who ejects the buffer car and rolls back a bit in the track. Seems like a turtle would be hard to move from a spot like this, we’ll see what the Toymasters have to say.
Mega Thrust lives up to the name, thrusting Turtoshell off the track, off the table, and out of the camera frame!
This is a first: Turtoshell is right side up on the bench! With this view we can see we’ve had 3 cars leave the table and three cars landing upright; Turtoshell on the bench, Ratical Racer in the bucket, and Camaro Z-28 on the grass in between.
Creature Crashers decide to give Turtoshell the honor of hitting the ‘67 Camaro and she is not shy about it! The Camaro never flips over, instead spinning upright like a top. Turtoshell takes the worst of it, rolling on her back to face the next car, upside down and vulnerable!
