Unfortunately yeah. There was a lot more of it going around at the time of the funeral episode and again (and much moreso) at the time of the finale. Personally I think it’s harder to headcanon Jamie’s feelings as solely platonic in the bar scene unless you come at it from “he was just saying all that to piss off Roy” angle, and people were Very Upset that Jamie might Dare to still be into her. Tbh I think a lot of it was/is the product of (imo misguided) anger from people who either 1) were very pissed Roy and Keeley weren’t endgame or 2) held very strong opinions about the Roy and Jamie bar scene being the worst thing to happen in the history of television or whatever. (Which, to be clear I can 100% understand disliking either writing choice for various reasons. It’s just that that anger somehow extended to people being FURIOUS that jamie would confirm he’s still got feelings for Keeley because he’s “never cared about her like that and they barely interact and Keeley OBVIOUSLY doesn’t give a shit about Jamie and hasn’t paid him attention since s1, so Jamie just doesn’t know what he’s saying. he’s clearly confused and emotionally immature” etc. which like, look. idk…But TO ME…If you’re gonna be angry about that scene…Boy is that the wrong part to be angry about, lol.

This is a great story, but heed the warnings. It's an interesting spin on the soulmate trope, because yeah, you can argue that Jack died when he overdosed, even if it was just for a small moment.

I logged onto Twitter for literally 5 seconds and immediately saw people harassing a community director for something called the MAG Festival, which I gather is a video game convention of some variety, who made this joke banner for their event:

Game industry folks, of course, lost their minds and they had to backpedal (frustrating, but I get it).

Anyways, funny joke. Wish the games industry wasn’t so toxic and unwelcoming. Even if you genuinely believe GG was a toxic movement, it boggles the mind how anyone thinks harassing community managers for...*checks notes*...a dumb joke you can either choose to laugh at or roll your eyes and ignore, is better.

Unrelated side-note: Can we just talk about how fucked social media is in it’s current state? Like just the overall design of how interactivity between users works, and how all of them are explicitly designed to feed into this industry of hate and overall negativity?

Think about it: you see a joke on Twitter and, assuming you HAVE to respond to it one way or another as that’s what’s asked of you by nature of you using social media, you’re really only given two options:

Either you enjoyed the tweet, found it humorous, so you’ll indicate that enjoyment simply by clicking the little heart icon to increase the little number next to it that indicates how many other people enjoyed it, and then you’ll  promptly move on.

Or, you disliked the tweet, perhaps it even upset you in some capacity, so you’ll indicate that displeasure by writing a 280-character (or h/e long Tweets are these days idfk) comment on how the joke “wasn’t funny” and perhaps even that the tweeter is “a bad person” for making it.

Now when the next person comes across that same tweet, which do you think they’ll see first, the single spot where it indicates that 10k people liked the post, or the seemingly-bottomless deluge of comments from 1k people expressing their negative response to the joke? More than likely their eyes will be drawn to the comments before the likes.

Now I know what you might be thinking: “Well, what’s to stop someone from commenting on the tweet to indicate that they liked the joke?” And you’re not wrong, except that the algorithm on most social media sites values the engagement from those negative comments higher than the engagement on those positive comment. Remember, even if every 100th person who liked the tweet posted a comment saying as much, the other 99 are still just scrolling by the post once they’ve liked it. They aren’t sticking around to like other positive comments. You know who are liking comments though? The ones already sticking around to comment their displeasure of the tweet.

So yeah, the TL;DR here is that social media, as are sadly most websites these days, are actively trying to not only piss you off, but to keep you essentially towing the line, so-to-speak. Don’t post anything too subversive or the algorithm will convince hundreds, if not thousands of people to harass you off the platform, if not worse.

We meet again, mormon ska homestar runner yo gabba gabba vigilante superhero gang.

I remember one post from twitter (I think?) where it said something like "ska music sounds like what plays in a 12 year olds head when they get cheese sticks for dinner", except The Aquabats are the type of band who would literally write a song about having cheese sticks for dinner.

I like their sprinkling in of style mashups they do in songs with no prompting whatsoever. Red sweater has 1950s doo-wop music, Magic Chicken has a random hip hop break, Lobster Bucket with a ragtime feel, etc.

So. The recurring themes of this album are people eating, people geting eaten, being down bad, and getting mauled to death. Cool. Anyway, my favorite tracks are The Story Of Nothing and Martian Girl. I enjoy the former for its imagery of literally disappearing as a result of feeling like a nobody after rejection, and the latter for something something. I'm Going To Kiss the Girl From Venus

The Aquabats have always had some interesting nerdy love songs, coming up with the strangest, most esoteric ways to be attracted to people, that somehow loop back around to being somewhat sincere. It's less "Hey girl I think you're pretty. want to go out?", and more "Hey girl, I saw how you knocked over the produce stand in the supermarket and started pelting people with tomatoes, and wanted to let you know we are happily married in the scenario I made up in my head".

Really fun album, very silly ass band. It's a little much sometimes tho, I don't personally think i can listen to more than one Aquabats album at a time lol.

let me provide a little backstory first. everyone here knows i Love enstars—jpstars specifically. i grew up playing !-era enbasic, am still playing !!-era enbasic, and play the japanese version of enmusic as well. when engstars first released i gave it a try, got bigbang subaru and conquest hiyori, somehow became a vice prez for the society i'm in (and still get to mod for even months after quitting engstars. if anyone here needs an active society, contact me or toribuns on tweeter :DDD), got link click kouchan and mika... i was pretty happy with my account.

however, i quickly lost interest in engstars, since jpstars is my one and only love LOL but i kept engstars on my phone in case i wanted to return to it. and i did return to it! i played the campaign that ran during the secret swan gacha just to see if i could get natsume (i didn't ftr www)

and back i went to ignoring engstars for 476534 years. and that's where my personal problem arises. you see, i never linked my account to a tweeter acc, or google acc, or email, or whatever. my thought process was like "why would i need to do that? i still have engstars on my phone, and it isn't gonna randomly kick me from my own account right. RIGHT???" but that's precisely what happened. i opened engstars because i needed some info from the new spotlight event for the wiki, only to see engstars just kicked me out.

ofc i go "OH SHIT. I never linked my acc to anything." so i check support and they don't have Anything on account recovery. but they Do have something on data transfer :D it requires me to have a new engstars account in order for them to do the transfer, so i make a new account. and let me just tell you. fuck the engstars tutorial. legitimately, fuck the engstars tutorial.

after 4753835 years i escape tutorial containment and fill out the rest of the support form, which included your typical "lost account" miseries. ("how the fuck am i supposed to know what my rank is. HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW ANYTHING......") eventually i do manage to fill the form and send it off. waiting game.

(also i still cannot believe engstars is an Official thing. it feels so fanmade and unprofessional. typos and spacing issues, And the app won't even let me scroll down further to read whatever it says on the second screenshot. i assume it says "Problem solving in progress" but me not able to scroll down in order to read it is bad design)

a day later—which, kudos to engstars support team, i did not expect them to only take a day—i receive a response saying they did find my account! but they also said my account was linked to a tweeter account that doesn't match the one my new engstars account—yknow, the one that they needed me to make to transfer data—is linked to.

i was pretty surprised because damn i had no idea my account was actually connected to something but okay! engstars support wanted me to switch tweeter accounts in order for me to do some.... authorization... things... seriously i can't read their response. revoking my kudos because i'd rather have a legible response than a quick one

ANYWAY i try...??? to log in with a different tweeter account, but engstars won't let me, so i go directly into tweeter and revoke engstars access permissions. and after that? i expected to get back to the tweeter log in screen, but instead engstars won't even give me that, telling me that the login failed after tapping the "Login with Twitter" button.

guys i'm so tired. but i'm doing my best. link click kouchan. i go clear app data for engstars, and after opening the app again, the support ticket i got was still there which is nice. i also get the tweeter log in screen again, nice. i also don't even get to log in because whatever browser engstars is using, it doesn't have javascript enabled so tweeter doesn't do anything :)))) i have to back out of the page, bringing me back to engstars and the, by now, very familiar "login failed" pop-up

that's where the story more or less ends? pauses? someone on the wiki server suggested to try login on the pc version so i let it do its downloading thing while i sat here writing this LOL it's done now. time to try that.

forgot the password for the account i was trying to get into DSGHSJDG anyway tweeter blocked my attempts because i had too many wrong ones. how long does it take until i can try again. whatever i'll end this post here... tell all your friends to keep your accounts safe because this is an absolute shitshow.

SO, @cyle , I've actually started using Twitter properly for the first time ever (not cuz Elon, I just hit the daily like limit here too often) and honestly I understand the hate but at the same time I love the tabs each user gets on their own Twitter page.

Specifically, replies.

I love how twitter replies work, I think it's really cleverly designed.

Quote tweet is essentially reblog - it's literally the same thing but stripped down: without showing the via, without being able to see all of the previous comments. So of course it's not feasible for conversations like how tumblr's reblog is, and in general retweet is just awful for content curation, but anyway that's besides the point.

Reply allows for nicely layed out conversations. It fixes the issue of recursive indentation to show consecutive replies to a specific comment, it fixes just tagging the person you're replying to and hoping they know which comment you're replying to, it fixes major platforms (Instagram, tiktok, YouTube, Facebook)'s unhelpful hybrid of both. Tapping through reply tweets, retweeting them, replying to them, it all just makes sense, to me anyway.

Now, if we somehow display reblogs as if they were reply tweets, we'd be implementing replies in the tumblr way! We'd be introducing reblog replies - or something like that, for the lack of a better name.

Reblogging as a user experience would remain exactly the same. The user would be presented with the familiar Tumblr "reblog chain" post, and can reblog it normally, either adding their own text/media or not , along with their reblog.

BUT, the reblogs tab for each post would act like a twitter replies interface - where the user is presented with the most reblogged (with text/media) or liked reblogs (with text/media) first, and then expanding each reblog to reveal more and more reblogs that act in exactly the same way as the one described.

Tumblr and Twitter are vastly different platforms. I love the current way reblogging for conversation works. I think it's just as unique and brilliant as Twitter replies. And it reflects the vastly different nature of the way tumblr is supposed to be used compared to twitter. But , as we all know, Elon happened, and even Duolingo tweeted about returning to tumblr, so there is a very high interest right now in making tumblr at least a bit more like Twitter, so as to accelerate the adoption of ex tweeters. So that they feel a bit more at home here, feature wise, whilst knowing the platform they're on is in safe hands (big up Matt🙏)

I'll add that it is smart to take features from rising platforms such as tiktok as opposed to declining platforms such as Twitter. And Tumblr is way more art & media focused than Twitter - so seems more attractive to the likes of Instagram and tiktok and Pinterest users when Twitter doesn't as much.

But even Matt himself said in an interview, Tumblr could easily be a bigger and better twitter than Twitter is! It already is better in many ways, and bigger because it FEELS bigger because old posts recirculate, nothing has a expiry date!! But yeah it just needs something for the ex tweeters. And me. I love reply tweets٩(♡ε♡ )۶

Those are just my thoughts on one aspect in particular. I hope this can be useful to consider. All the best!! Posting here as opposed to feedback support request because it may need some debating amongst the tumblr users.

basically the hellsite thing is like everyone on tumblr actively acknowledges that this app is a mess. idek where to begin to explain how, but the tag system is thoroughly broken...now people just do whatever they in there. and honestly the whole website usually runs on vibes

it crashes when something happens in any fandom that is popular on here, some of which are incredibly niche

all in all it's a hellsite, it's not carefully curated and pretty stuff like instagram. but at the same time it's not obnoxious takes and hatred like twitter...which is why hellsite (affectionate)

this whole trend of adding stuff in brackets making an oxymoron is a meme. for eg: your fav morally grey character would be, murderer (affectionate)....if that makes sense 😭

anyways as i said, it takes some time but you figure out the jokes and memes. if you have any questions feel free to ask :)))

right, any reylos/general Star wars folx migrating in from Twitter on this blursed night: welcome! even if it's just on a backup basis as things maybe get sorted out.

folks, i have been here since 2012 and i never left, even after the Great Fuckening. we have been through some weird times on this hellsite, for better or for worse, but i have seen a lot of sentiment since the Elon buy was first announced that essentially, Tumblr only improved after the Fuckening in the sense that Stan culture essentially moved over there, among other things. if you migrated around that time, or have simply never been on this platform, you may feel a bit upset by said sentiment. you may feel a bit kerfuffled.

i get that. but understand that if it's not about you...it's not about you. simply don't be the kind of person we wish was going down with Twitter's ship. don't be the person who sent death threats to Voltron creators. don't be the person who supports open, proud MAPs. don't be the person who bullies small creators to the point of suicide. reylos, I've gotten to know a lot of you since my return to fandom, and i know you are not those people. (most of you, anyway. that kid who was having a cow about obidala existing still makes me ugly laugh.) we are people who build bridges. i think it has a lot to do with our attachment to a story about hope and commonality and rising against true great evils instead of against one another, but what do i know? it's not personal, it's systemic. you don't have to prove yourselves. just don't *disprove* yourselves.

but if you are those people: you are not welcome here. you will always exist, and if you run out of social media platforms you will turn it on the world. i have made peace with this. it is not my job to fix it. if you, like me, are not the reason Tumblr doesn't want tweeters back, that's my advice, as a simple rodent who has seen it all on this site: don't feed the roaches. they have plenty of food because they eat garbage. if nobody is shouting back at them, they scatter. we are a community, we are adults, and if we're not...well, get the hell off of nsfw Tumblr.

I’m in a bad place with most Larries right now. Earlier on this year, I don’t remember when because I rage-blocked it out, a pretty big Larrie on tumblr made a kind of list about how Louis could be a better gay man, better ways he could be a gay icon, even though he’s closeted and his closet is a very restrictive one and has been for a long time. I wanted to almost attack them through an ask, challenge them, but I didn’t. Even if they posted the ask I wanted to send, it wouldn’t do anything because the way they think seems to be how the majority of Larries think and I am so tired. Most Larries have done the same thing for years, blame Louis for his closet but feel sorry for Harry for his. “Louis doesn’t do enough to fight it, Louis could fix his image, Louis should do this or that to prove he is worthy of Larrie support, if Louis doesn’t do what I want I’m going to boycott him and his next album, Harry’s stunts are just because he wants to be a star and who can blame him for that, Louis hasn’t publicly supported Harry in years, that’s not fair to Harry, why should Harry publicly support Louis when Harry is closeted and made to not do anything to support Louis”. All things I have seen and heard from Larries. Larries answer and reblog asks saying these things and most of it is directed at Louis. I just went through the double standards tag of one of your mutuals and it was so saddening and disheartening because it hasn’t changed, all these years later, and it has only reminded me of how the fandom blames Louis for anything involving his closet. Louis has borne the brunt of it. Then about two weeks ago a Larrie answered an ask that asked why Harry would date a foul mouthed chainsmoker alcoholic McDonald’s fan unfashionable disgusting person like Louis, and the Larrie answered with how that person was insulting Harry actually, as Harry isn’t a shallow a**hole like them and that Harry values people for their heart and their soul. That’s it. Didn’t say Louis wasn’t those things. Maybe that Larrie thought there was no point arguing with Louis’ many good points because the person wouldn’t care anyway but h***ies reblogged it saying exactly that, that the Larrie didn’t even try to argue that Louis wasn’t those things. It’s been continuous bad moments from Larries for a long time and i hate it so much. I can’t be a Larry anymore because I can’t stand the difference in treatment anymore. Louis is never going to be good enough or do enough to make Larries want to support him as much as they support Harry, unless he comes out with Harry, and I need distance from people who place those kind of restrictions on Louis, Louis whose heart is so big and loving and thoughtful, who is so talented and works at his craft and cares so much but was beaten down for years so that his belief in himself was taken from him. Louis, who has fought to be where he is, to have a solo career, to regain his confidence. Who needs enemies when a person’s “fans” will be the ones actively contributing to a negative public perception of a person? Who needs enemies when “fans” will blame that person for their closet and act like it affects them more than the person who is closeted? Who needs enemies when their “fans” won’t respect them as a human being and not a toy? It feels like there a lot of people who don’t want Louis to succeed and that includes people who are meant to be his fans.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. Unfortunately, most of the loudest voices on Twitter and Tumblr on the Larrie side of the fandom are the least respectful of Louis and don't care about him unless they can relate the things he does, says, or wears to Harry, his sex life, or their personal own sexual fantasies about him. You occasionally find someone who does the same with Harry, but it's not as common and it's not as popular of bloggers or tweeters (not sure that's a word, but I'm going with it) doing it. There are some of us who are fine! Some of them follow me, and I follow others. But it's growing harder to find them every day and being here is intolerable a lot of the time.

Hey just so you know, that tweet you posted about "queer labels from the 90s" is misinformation. Those labels are not from the 90s. They are from a 2013 twitter thread that was published in "My New Gender Workbook." The tweeter of the "90s" misinformation deliberately clipped out responses that included twitter handles so it would seem more 90s.

Why did someone do all this? They did this because there's a concerted effort among the modern sexual libration movement to lie about LGBT history.

Well anyway, that's actually pretty heartening. The only thing better than people being sex weirdos in the past is people being sex weirdos in the now. I approve!

Also I checked twitter thread and it seems less like deliberate misinformation and more the tweeter confusing the 2013 book for a similar one from 1998, but I suspect you knew that and were choosing to take it in the worst way possible.

Misinformation about misinformation, what fun!
