Uberhood rotation - Lothario update (s0e1)

Hi, cuties!  Since I take a gazillion screenshots per session, I figured I might as well post some of them here. I’m already 8 rounds into my Uberhood rotation so before I start posting (fairly) regularly, I’d love to make an update post for each(ish) family!

 The Lothario family obviously comes first. :P

While being a grade-A slut with commitment issues for most of his early 20s, Don was profoundly drawn back to Nina Caliente; again and again. The deal was sealed when she appeared at his doorstep one morning, announcing her unexpected pregnancy.  Don could’ve dashed, sure, but instead, he took it as a sign from the universe to finally take responsibility - possibly for the first time ever. 

Don and Nina moved in together shortly after. Their first place was a cozy apartment downtown where they enjoyed the early family years. Although they didn’t let go of their player tendencies at first, they always lived a comfortable, harmonious life. With Devon growing up and another baby on the way, the family moved into a house nearby. 

Don couldn’t believe his eyes when his child (allegedly* his) turned out to be blonde and ...a little green. That’s when Nina dropped the “Oh yeah, my grandfather was an alien!” bomb on him. 

Devon is a sweet 16-year-old girl who spends her days hanging out with friends, watching anime, and drawing. Her best friend is her cousin Jasmine, daughter of Dina Caliente. Despite being shy and not too eager to jump into relationships, teenage boys from all over the town are obsessed with her. It’s the inborn Lothario rizz, I’m telling y’all. 

The second Lothario child is Xavier. He shares the green hue of his skin with Devon; with the difference of a tan vitiligo spot covering his right eye, eyebrow and cheek. 

The Lothario family is incredibly close with the Landgraab family - Malcolm, Dina (Nina’s sister) and Jasmine. 

Here’s elderly Don on his way to rizz up elderly Nina. They’re the fucking CUTEST.

I'll also be introducing a night-stream on twitch for other non-sim games like Crusader Kings III, Disco Elysium, Wildermyth, City Skylines, etc. Also looking into games that have to be played on an emulator that probably nobody even remembers but me at this point but I don't care, Monster Rancher 2 is the best.

**I played the same neighborhood for two consecutive rounds because at the beginning I didn't want to create an uberhood but I only wanted to play with Veronaville. I only changed my mind in the second round of Veronaville so to recover I played PV, DT and ST twice in a row. From the third round each rotation will be normal, no double rounds per neighborhood. I only have screenshots of the latest Strangetown families for round 1.

okay so apparently megathreads on tumblr are working not the way i expected them to, so i'm going to spam as single posts again, sorry in advance for your favorite tag covered in my yapping 😔

in the last post i showed the Cordial-Green wedding, but i didn't show the proposal, because it was on Green's rotation! silly me also did i mention that i'm having a blast with my stupid little uberhood right now?

Chastity took the poor nerd for a walk, and on one of their stops they met exactly Samantha and Carlos in one place playing chess. ACR first kiss cam was hilarious with them blocking each other's view (i forgot to make screenshots 😪 but here's one with Sam doing a cute animation)

then they continued their walk, and Gabe rolled a want to buy a jewelry, which, of course, was a ring for Samantha this man is just too pure and innocent for this world, i'm sorry

i really hope their kids won't get his nose 😭

Okay here's the thing. After playing my uberhood for the equivalent of 4 Sim years (I refuse to try to set a fixed length for my rotations anymore), I had this fantastic idea to go around and take portraits of all 86 households as they currently are and teach myself how to use poseboxes and take good screenshots in the process. And I did it. And I won't do it again because my lord did it take LONG af. But I had fun doing them and I think I may be obsessed with posing my Sims and taking pictures now... Anyway, now that I have the pics, I thought I'd come on here and post them one household at a time and write short(ish) summaries of all the important happenings over the past 4 years in my beloved premade Sims' lives. I stopped posting my gameplay very early on in my uberhood because I found it an overwhelming task no matter how much I love writing, so hopefully this alternative, easier type of storytelling will not get the best of me. I don't expect anyone else to enjoy viewing and reading these, I mostly write them because I want to be able to read them back later and feel nostalgic. And I just really love these Sims so much.

This is kind of a useless post but I just wanted to tell you about what I'm doing, hopefully I will be able to post these consistently but slowly so they don't take up all your dashboard. If you want to follow along or catch up, you can do so via my #ultimatehood tag. The concept is 2 pictures per post - one portrait-like portrait (or at least a picture where they all look at the camera) and one "behind the scenes", more candid shot. The captions will focus on the present members of the given household, Sims who have moved households since the start will get their story told as part of their current household. Oh and one more thing: some of these shots are wonky, especially the first few (let's not talk about those poor floating Sims). Like I said it has been a learning curve, sorry! Also, I won't, or will only slightly edit the pics. There are just not enough hours in a day.

I really don't know why I made this post other than I am a chronic overexplainer. Hope you enjoyed this random pic of Allegra Gorey tho. Her household isn't coming up for quite a while yet...

strangely veronaview

strangely veronaview is my basegame ‘hood uberhood. i may add other neighborhoods in the future, but for now it consists of pleasantview, strangetown, and veronaville. i originally started playing this uberhood casually, but decided to document the chaos here!

“ so what’s happened so far? “

begin the story under the cut . . .

ROUND 1 . . .

starting off with the oldie household, herb had trouble staying faithful to his wife, coral, and began an affair with jennifer burb. coral adopted a cat to cope after finding out the truth, but couldn’t find the heart to divorce.

next was the dreamers, and at this point i hadn’t taken any screenshots to share. in short, darren began a career in the science field, dirk made friends with some veronaville kids, and they adopted a dog named duchess.

the goth family was next, but unfortunately i didn’t take any screenshots for them, either. don lothario left cassandra at the altar, but after seeking out darren dreamer for comfort, romance sparked between them. after a quick rebound woohoo, cassandra ended up pregnant with diona dreamer. alexander aged to a teenager, and cassandra proposed to darren.

moving to the broke family, brandi gave birth to a little boy she named brandon broke. beau aged to a child, and dustin had his first kiss with angela pleasant. brandi met vidcund curious, and the two were quite the pair! they quickly got engaged, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. 

the next family in the rotation were the burbs. the first thing john and jennifer did after moving in was... an attempt to populate the neighborhood? jennifer fell pregnant to twins, harley and michael burb. thankfully, lucy aged up to a teenager, but the burbs just couldn’t afford their bills. not long after the twins were born, jennifer became pregnant yet again...

the caliente sisters up next! the first thing dina wanted to do was get her hands on mortimer...’s money. she proposed marriage, but on that same day, she tragically died in a kitchen fire. karma? nina began romancing daniel pleasant, and the two of them really hit it off! after a couple woohoos though, they went their separate ways... and now nina has her eye on consort capp.

don lothario came up next, and what a tragic round that was. after inviting the maid, kaylynn, for a soak in the tub, poor don lothario perished in a house fire. unable to call for help, kaylynn died as well. what a fast round that was.

. . . and that’s all i’ve played thus far! next up is the pleasant family, then we’re moving on to strangetown. (next)

6. what default eyes and skin do you use?

The default skins I use are Leh’s Oh! No! skintones (plus Lilith’s Peachy alien and vampire defaults and Pooklet’s Compulsion zombie default) and the eyes are... uh, gonna have to go hunt these down...

They’re Curious B’s Nothing Like The Sun eyes, defaulted by SilTstm! Specifically, Treacle, Starry, Platinum, Riches, and Caribbean. And now I know where I got them, I’m going to edit the filenames so I can track them down in future! 

Oh, and this default of Gelyh’s Blue Chip alien eyes.

27. what’s the farthest you’ve gotten in a challenge? 

I once completed an Asylum challenge, but I was very new to the game and still figuring out screencap programs and all the screenshots I took of the last few days turned out blank. :( Right now, I consider it a challenge just playing my uberhood. I have completed a grand total of one rotation. It took me eight years. XD

The State of The Simblr, 2019 Edition & Queue Announcement

The update in which I pretend to be Cool(tm) by paralleling the State of the Union (or a State of the State) Address. But really, it’s talking about what saves are staying, going, coming up, and an upcoming queue. This is a long post, so it’ll be tagged with “long post” if you want to blacklist that for the moment.

Saves - TS2

Crystal Valley. Staying, and will continue to be update infrequently. I think I solved my rotational aging issues, so you’ll see the gay elves throughout the year.

Widespot sans CC. Very infrequent updates. I played it back in November as a bit of a pallet cleanser, but I do want to keep it around for that reason. Playing with little CC, following wants, and free-ranging the sims was fun.

Mason Black’s Monster Mash. Will continue as a Dreamwidth exclusive. There’s just something about DW that gives me late 2000s nostalgia, especially in regards to sims challenges. These updates will come out as I feel like playing/updating the save.

Uberhood. Discontinued/infrequent updates? I dunno, something about having so many sim households to play stresses me out, and I haven’t played in months... perhaps I’ll try to make that casual as well.

Sykes Legacy. TBD. I know I picked it back up, but I don’t know if it’ll become another mainstay. Time will tell.

Saves - TS3

Gardner Family. Will continue. Despite it almost being a year later, I’m moving the Gardners to my desktop! More on this later in the post.

Aytes Family - TS3 Edition. Discontinued. I haven’t touched the save in months, and honestly I don’t know why I felt compelled to post it? It was actually an incredibly self-indulgent self-sim save (yes, you read that right) from 2016. Ever wonder why you only saw Australia and his kids, and no partner? Now you know. Actually, I realized I last updated this in 2017, but this post is serving as a cache twenty-two of all saves.

Greene Family. Discontinued/Irregular posting. See above: I haven’t touched this since 2017. If I do feel inspiration to play, I’ll post it here.

Evans Legacy. Will continue with irregular posting. This is a very casual legacy save, hence the irregular posting. I’ll be keeping on it, however, so you can expect to see Pandora, Pepper, and their brood in the new year.

Newton LEPacy. Will continue. It’ll be four years strong in July, but we’re keeping on with it! The interest with this comes and goes, but I’m not letting Mary Newton down by giving up.

Future MM/BC Projects. Hopefully summer things. More on those later in the year.

Saves - TS4

Not So Berry. Will continue. I’m seeing this challenge through to the end! I’ve had a lot of fun with this, since its had me do things I don’t normally do, or what I do (but with a twist.)

Aytes Family. Doesn’t really have any bearing? I want to make some character information posts for them, but I don’t know if they’ll have any major posts here.

I think that does it for TS4 posts? I don’t really have any big TS4 saves I post here other than miscellaneous saves here and there.

Miscellaneous

Backups on Dreamwidth. Progressing, but slowly. I’m busy, and it takes a lot of time to put stuff up on DW, so it’ll go up, but at a very slow rate.

Uberhood rotation - Goth update (s0e2)

It's the Goth family's turn!

I'll go over the most important events that took place after I began my Uberhood rotation. And it's gonna be a doozy.

If you're not a fan of all the jabbering, at least take a peek at the screenshots, they're cute and/or hilarious. I PROMISE!

Mortimer Goth married Dina Caliente shortly after Bella's disappearance - within a year if we want to be specific. Regardless of what the back-fence talk was, Mortimer truly loved her and she loved him. The thing most of the blabbermouths missed was how Mortimer and Bella's marriage lost its spark years before the incident even took place. The high school sweethearts simply drifted apart, ending up unfulfilled and bored in the long run, and the separation process was in motion. It's not surprising that Mortimer Goth became the main suspect in the beginning stages of police investigations - the charges were dropped in short order though. While he was officially clear of blame, some residents of Pleasantview held onto their own hunches. His son Alexander was one of them.

Deep inside, Alexander knew it was a setup. Misconduct of SOME kind must have taken place. It HAD to. The whole thing just didn't add up - the timing, the circumstances, the so-called "proof" of everyone's innocence, the "investigation", and most of all, the silence. The God-forsaken, gut-wrenching, agonizing, harrowing silence that swallowed the town whole. One day, Bella was there and she was gone the other. That's how it all went down, simple as that. It's like everyone around him was playing pretend that she was never there to begin with, making him feel utterly alone and at the edge of insanity.

And so he began his own investigation, confidently believing that his father was to blame.

Although he knew Lilith by sight, mainly because his sister Cassandra babysat the Pleasant twins years ago, he finally got to know her at college. After some long night walks, diner dates, and a few kisses shared over the grave of her late father, the deal was sealed. He loved her immensely. Lilith became the light in his sea of darkness, the serene voice in the torturous, mute void.

Mortimer died of old age around that time.

After they both successfully got their degrees, they moved back into the Goth mansion together. To say Lilith was ecstatic would be an understatement; oh the delightful life she was almost guaranteed... She could finally be at peace. Safe.

With two children around and one on the way, Lilith was preoccupied with the homely duties of your average parent. Those same duties caused Alexander great agony; he's gone completely off-grid. He felt immense guilt for getting carried away from what mattered the most; the truth. Enlightenment.

His frustration caused him to behave rather recklessly and in a desperate attempt to feel closer to that alluring enlightenment, he ended up luring a grand vampire into the mansion and locking her up in the attic, right where his father's experiments took place. While the first days were rough, soon it almost felt like she wasn't interested in getting away anymore. With time passing they bonded, one thing soon led to another and...

He became a creature of the night.

As pale as paper and as thin as bone, eyes red like fire glimmering with lust. At moments entirely weak, sporadically oozing power.

(He felt a wee bit silly in the last shot.)

And you know what's hilarious about all of this? His family was clueless. Not forever, but for an embarrassingly long while. Taking care of three toddlers while your husband locks himself up in the attic 24/7 causes you to become exhausted and absentminded at times? No way! What?!

Anyway, the grand vampire dashed after successfully turning Alexander. His family understood that the state he found himself in wasn't a simple case of flu when they saw his skin burn up at the slightest touch of sunlight. That and his teeth. And eyes. And the constant "Bleeh!"ing. Oh and the bat form. That felt a little out of place.

Lilith wanted to support her sweetheart in his dreams but it was getting harder and more taxing with time. She never saw him anymore. It felt like he never showed interest in her or their children anymore. The days were the worst; that's when the Goth mansion fell completely silent, with Alexander deep in slumber and the children at school.

She isn't proud of it. Who in their right mind would be? She's betraying Alexander, the children... Herself. But is it really that simple?

She believes it's the crippling exhaustion and loneliness that led her into Dustin's arms. With him, she has something special; history. Intertwined, complicated history that goes back years and years. The sense of familiarity brings her sheer comfort in these trying times. Oh, what they've been through...

Don't get her wrong though; she didn't act on it. Physically speaking, at the very least.

Fun facts: I have a Maxis uberhood on TS2 that I love that I haven't played in months because I have to furnish a very small house and I don't feel like it. I play in rotation, so I have to furnish it because it's the home of the current rotation. (And I'm also stuck with my BACC because in that challenge you have to build continuously...)

I recently added Emily Emory and Dominic Newlow to my uberhood and I have to furnish his house (obviously not in the style of TS2 for PSP because emh... it's a little ugly? Iconic but ugly)

AND I would also like to add Isaac Rossum (iconic) and Lincoln Broadsheet (he's a babyyyy) BUT I don't want to build and furnish (I know that there are ready-made lots, but after a bad experience with infected lots and full of other people's sim references I stopped downloading other people's lots and started building them myself...

So... while trying to tag all the screenshots of my uberhood I found out that I had some screenshots from the second Pleasantview rotation hidden in my second HD. I will upload them, but I will not edit them (maybe), honestly there are too many...

Unfortunately I didn't find anything about the first Strangetown rotation, I don't think I've taken screenshots but I'm pretty calm because I remember that practically nothing happened in story terms. Idk wtf I did in the first rotation since the second looks almost like the first, but it's better this way!

Playing ONLY in Verona is a breath of fresh air.

For more than 2 years I have been playing a uberhood with all Maxis neighborhoods in an extremely chaotic way.

I didn't know the "rotation" play style and thanks to the guide of Pleasantsims and the various Aspiration and work calculators I FINALLY understood how to play in an neat way.

For two weeks I spent my time editing the houses in Verona (even if I suck at decorating) and to create two community lots that did not exist in Verona (a discotheque and a community swimming pool)

After, I synchronized all the families (they all start on Monday, the first day of summer, in the morning) and I added some "headcanon" to some of them. For example to some, it depends on the work they do I have given a degree, to all but teenagers I have given a second aspiration and I changed two sexual orientations with the ACR Mod: Mercutio is now bisexual and Tybalt is gay.

I finished the first round with Capps and took advantage of the break to organize my cc's and mods (I had a REALLY poor cc folder, I had a lot of hairs but very few clothes)

Now that everything is finally organized I hope to be able to continue without too many hitches...

(I am a lot paranoid, I check the neighborhood with the hoodchecker every time I finish playing and I backup the neighborhood after cleaning it with the hoodchecker every day ( ；∀；) )

I don't post screenshots because I decided to play without the stress of having to update Tumblr, but every time I finish a rotation I add some headcanons that came to me while I play
