for the work in progress guessing game! ask
Hello! I think your asked was cut off 🥲 I really would love to know the complete sentence about this so I could answer this one properly! 💙
Edited:
Thank you for clarifying it up in the notes! 😭 sorry I got confused about your ask, but I really hope I’m not too late into answering them!
Without further ado, here’s a WIP I’ve been working on with the word “ask” on it!
****
“What is the meaning of this?” Utsuro asked. He curls his hand at the handle of his sword as he makes eye contact at the first poor lad he sees. Then smiles, serenely.
The unnamed crow trembles.
“Gintoki brought in two children. An amanto girl and a human boy.” The guard’s answer immediately piqued Utsuro’s interest.
Children? Gintoki?
Of all his children, Gintoki was the cruelest. A demon born in hell. Despite his laziness and disgusting mannerism of living like a slob and not giving a fuck towards literally anything unless it has to do with his favorite diabetes induced-snacks or a mission (which he always complained about and procrastinate in the very last minute), Utsuro got to hand it to him, Gintoki got the job done in a short period of time with a surprisingly decent result albeit the bloody mess he left behind.

It was hard for me to resist to @windfighter Kouji + snakes train. I was listening to Enya’s and Jenkins’ “Adiemus” when I sketched this 🤣. Just a messy sketch to celebrate the beginning of a new phase of mine, during which a new flow of energy will come to me by sketchdumping Kouji x extreme animals.
PSA I will give him justice with decent drawings. I promise you, people LOL. I want to give Junpei’s heartattacks.

hello! could you write headcanons for takasugi who's in love with a female samurai who happens to be katsura's little sister ? (she also loves him)
hope your blog will be successful :)
Thank you so much! Sorry for being late, I’ve been a bit busy. This request was adorable but I’m afraid I might have shifted my focus on “protective brother” Katsura instead than Takasugi’s feelings. I also apologize, this isn’t my best work. Writing Takasugi is extremely difficult. Anyway, hope you enjoy :)
Tumblr media
When you told your brother Katsura that you wanted to become a samurai he was outraged. Not really because you’re a woman but because he wanted to protect you. You’re one of the most important people in his life and his only family left so, obviously, he didn’t want you to get hurt.
He had to change his mind when he saw how stubbornly dedicated you were and at the end of the day he couldn’t help but admit that you were a better samurai than many others, both for your sword skills and moral code.
You met the other members of the Joui 4 when you were fighting the Amanto and Gintoki and Sakamoto mistook you for Katsura.
"Oi Zura, on your left!" warned Gintoki “That’s not like you Zura, since when are you this distracted?” said Sakamoto with his obnoxious laugh.
You can imagine their surprise when Katsura popped out of nowhere to slash some Amanto that were going to attack them.
Sakamoto and Gintoki stared at the two of you like lost puppies.
Oi, Kintoki. Why are there two Zuras?
You obviously waited until the end of the fight to explain them that you were his sister and not some twisted clone. That’s when you met Takasugi. He heard all the ruckus and approached his group of misfit friends to understand what was going on.
He was very surprised to learn that you were Katsura’s sister. While you two looked similar, your personalities seemed very different: you were calmer and more serious than Katsura and weren’t nearly as chaotic as he could be.
You bonded over being the quiet ones in a group of loud people.
You were always together, even in battle. It was like you two were in your own world covering each other’s back like a twisted dance of blood and ashes.
That didn’t mean that you didn’t get along with the other Joui, you were actually everyone’s little sister.
If the first time you met Gintoki and Sakamoto they mistook you for Katsura, with time they started mistaking your brother for you which caused some pretty funny misunderstandings.
Y/N on your back!
I’m not Y/N, I’m Katsura!
One time, however, they went to tease you about your crush for Takasugi (they might look stupid, but they can be surprisingly sharp when they want to)   only to find out they were speaking with Katsura.
Well, well Y/N-chan… where is your beloved Takasugi?
Yeah, when are you going to confess your undying eternal love for him?
Katsura had no idea you had those kind of feelings for his comrade so when he found out, he freaked out. Bad. How could he not understand it sooner?
For a long time, he started following you and Takasugi around to see if what his friends said was true.
It was.
He noticed the way you looked at Takasugi but, also, the way he looked at you. Katsura knew Takasugi was a cold man, ruthless even, yet he couldn’t deny that the man cared about you. He noticed that his brother in arms’ eyes weren’t as sharp and menacing when he was around you, that he was unusually gentle and caring.
He tortured himself for a while, unsure what to do, until one day he couldn’t do it anymore So, much to your displeasure and embarassment, he acted.
Takasugi! I will not tolerate this anymore. You cannot see my sister anymore unless you take her as a bride. You have no idea how painful it is to see you two pine for each other like this, I want grandkids!
Katsura… You’re my brother not my father, you can’t have grandkids from me.
Then I want to be an aunt or an uncle!
At that very moment you didn’t know whether you wanted to kill your brother or yourself, but when Takasugi replied you were quite happy he spoke up.
I think I’ll hold you to that, Katsura.

could you please explain the "give my regards to sensei in hell" quote re: shouyou? (sorry i read gintama a while ago so i forgot the details but i love your analyses)
sure! they're among my favourite scenes. i'm not sure exactly which part you want to know about but here's the gist:
in the courtesan of a nation arc, gintoki faces off against oboro, and right when he's about to impale him on a rooftop he says "say hello to sensei for me." then at the very end of the arc, takasugi who at this point has only appeared briefly a couple times as an unhinged antagonist sneaks into the jail where the shogun's uncle is held, and says the very same line right before killing him. we don't know a thing about his relationship to gintoki or zura at this point other than "they used to be comrades." the shogun's uncle is a primary antagonist of this arc, but he's Just Some Old Guy and relies on oboro to do the actual fighting. so it's a very sexy and unexpected moment where gintoki and takasugi say the same line regarding their sensei, who is also shrouded in mystery at this point.
what that sorachi quote is getting at is that it's strange that gintoki and takasugi would say this to scumbags that they loathe before killing them, i.e. implying that their beloved sensei is in hell. shouyou is very much the saintly dead mentor shounen trope, but he's not actually a saint, is what sorachi is saying. because he was human
what i was saying about the scene being funny is that oboro is, in fact, in daily contact with their sensei (utsuro). because he swore to make his own life suck forever. but no one knew this at the time, not even the viewers. so he couldn't be vindicated. he got impaled on that roof, revived, and then had to take his ass home to sensei. but i'm sure he did not actually pass on gintoki's hello. so he had to hold that in too. can you imagine how full his constipated insides are

"greatness is a transitory experience. it is never consistent." from thanos
Dune Sentence Starters || Open
Eros didn't have the chance to talk to his brother much lately. This would have been the first time since--yeah, since Thanos indirectly killed him in order to come back to life. Eros was a bit surprised Thanos had done that, since it was the first time Thanos had ever killed Eros, but maybe he knew that Eros would just get resurrected by the machine, that there was no threat of his little brother ever meeting Death properly.
But Eros being Eros, he was not upset at his brother. In fact, he was actually pleased Thanos had chosen him to be his channel back to the living. He swore up and down it was going to be Gamora. In a way it was like Thanos considered him worthy of something.
Whether Eros was or not, however, remained an open question. Judgment Day had passed, and the Earth survived, no thanks to Eros, even though they'd made him Prime Eternal to speak for the Earth. The Eternals of Earth, and the Avengers and the mutants and the heroes and the villains, had all put their faith in him and his idea that if they all held hands and showed the judgment creature that they could get along and get better, the Earth would be spared. He had let them down - and at the end it was violence that saved the day.
Once things settled down, Eros abdicated his position to his uncle Zuras without hesitation, and left Earth. He just wasn't cut out for taking up the mantle of anything, and trying to had the exact outcome he'd always predicted.
He sought out his brother to talk to, because his brother was a leader, who had risen and fallen again and again. His brother always seemed to seek power just to lose it again, and would certainly have advice about this:
"Why do you seek greatness? Greatness is awful, greatness is hard." It did not seem to Eros that power and leadership were all they were cracked up to be (by Thanos).
And Thanos replied. Greatness is a transitory experience, it is never consistent.
Tumblr media
Eros knit his eyebrows in concentration as he processed his brother's response, chin in hand, moping. If greatness really was an experience, that meant anybody could be great, and they could be great for any reason, and that nobody was great forever. Or it meant that just plainly speaking, being great did not feel the same way all the time.
"What do you mean by it isn't consistent? Like if at first you don't like it, try it again and maybe you will next time?"

Would love to hear your thoughts on gintama the final, if you want to share!!
Fucked me up. Punched me in the face. Obliterated me.
CW GINTAMA SPOILERS
I spent my middle-high school years reading/watching gintama n its a huge influence on me—it probably has the most influence on me compared to other animanga tbh—storytelling and humor wise this series just engineered me lol. Its also the first fandom i was active in, this was literally a gintama blog to whoever remembered that era.
Tumblr media
When gin said this^ i was bout to cry fr -_- when i saw kagura looking all grown up in this movie i was like 🧍‍♂️so SHOCKED bc pretty sure i was kaguras age when i started gintama. so looking at adult her as an adult myself… insane meta moment. Like u know how uncle iroh is everyones uncle, gintoki u are my father
Anyway. takasugi
Tumblr media
Takasugi’s redemption arc is so fucking crazy. Idc how tropey everything is bc it was done so well. Maybe im biased but it doesnt matter. The storyboarding in the gintoki vs utsuro/takasugis fight was done SO WELL. !! The sound design also! They translated n elevated the scene insanely well from the manga. The interpersing flashbacks and mutliple callbacks with the present fight uogoggh. THE SILENT MOMENTS!!! the staff knew what they were doing. It was so devastating. The script is also very crazy like…. Everything they told each other at their last moments together…… I think it was done perfectly. It was a perfect, most miserable moment.
Tumblr media
His iconic catchphrase..
I actually did not think i would like takasugi this much (funny since i got my url from him lol) but like. I always thought takasugi n gin’s dynamic is rly good in a rly fucked up way but idk i was not obsessed w him the way im obsessed w the other characters. But now. Oh man. WHAT a character. Yeah its a cliche to die to get your character redeemed but goddamn he did it SO WELL. SO WELL! He didnt turn nice a la zuko or whatever, but the script rly allowed us to see the best of him despite everything he has done. Or in spite of it. Like his character rly, rly just shines through. I feel like the first time he showed up as a villain his motivation felt vague and chaotic—violence for violence’s sake—but now we know its nothing like that at all. Its vengeance, but it isnt vengeance for him, its vengeance for the three of them: gintoki, zura, n himself. When i realized his want to “destroy” isnt egocentric in the least… [shakes head] his character just changed completely to my eyes its sooo. CRAZY. WHAT a character.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
my fav character dynamic is enemies who know each other best. Obsessed with it truly. and also characters who try to kill each other (which is takasugi+gintoki in the past arcs of the series) out of love. Bc it is out of love! Out of guilt and pride and really love. The way that we thought takasugi’s pain centers fully around their teacher—and it turns out what tortures him the most is gintoki’s suffering all along?!?! WTF. And the way they mirror each other! Its fucking insane! Gin chose to sacrifice himself in the past to carry the burden at the beginning of it all VS the series ending with takasugi sacrificing himself bc he doesnt want gin to carry that burden anymore -> literal insanity. Yes character death is tedious but its the perfect conclusion to their conflict. Full fucking circle. Im frothing at the mouth thinking about it. Its such a tender end for the both of them it was beautiful and it hurt like shit.
If there is anything i have gripes about the movie is the lack of zura and sakamotos involvement at the core of their conflict—esp zura! Bc shoyou is his teacher too ): and also the poor character screentime distribution for the rest of the cast (it cant be helped on some level ig, gintama has a shitload of characters) though i appreciate that otae has a lot of scenes, good for her :)
But overall i loved it—very biasedly, but i really do. I mean it hurt but it hurt so good. Im happy that it ended that way. Bittersweet and hopeful and in good, good humor is the very essence of gintama and that was the ending that it got, so: perfect. And therefore i will think abt gintama fondly onwards as i always have

1) looove when zura is doing his weird uncle bit w kagura he’s my fav ever 2) zapp’s sword is not rly that cool looking tbh. idk if it’s bc of the size of it but something about it maybe the hilt, it looks so unweighted and kind of lame I think it’s also bc it’s drawn sort of inconsistently

Prompt #1: Star Gazing
AO3
This is how the regular day goes nowadays. He gets ready for work, getting up early, making sure to wait for Kagura to arrive before he sets off. A long and draining ten hours later, he comes back to Kabuki-cho, where he immediately runs up to greet the twins and ask them about their day with their big sister, and pray to God that they didn’t participate in any of her brutal showdowns with the sadistic Shinsengumi captain. He then takes the kids down to Gran Otose’s bar downstairs, where she treats them all to dinner every day. They sit together in their special designated booth, and the old lady joins them too. The kids have fun, Gintoki and Otose enjoy some booze. Sometimes Kagura leaves for Otae’s place soon after Gintoki comes back, sometimes she stays the night like the old days. Shinpachi occasionally visits at this hour, and so does Hasegawa, with Hatsu accompanying him. This period of time is usually the best part of the day, as he gets some friends and liquor to keep him busy.
The weekends are slightly different. He’s got all the time in the world to savour, and he makes it his top priority to spend it with the kids as much as possible. The first day of the weekend is usually taking the kids out to wherever they wanted to go for the day. Be it the amusement park, the desserts cafe, Aunt Otae’s place, Hinowa’s place. Or maybe even just a calm day at home, arranging for special takeout from Ikumatsu’s. It’s hilarious to see Katsura still moonlighting as a delivery man for her, despite holding such a high rank in the government. The kids appreciate Uncle Zura, although Gintoki always remains wary, scared if Zura’s senile tendencies rub into them. The other day of the weekend is spent more in decompressing and getting ready for another grinding week.
It’s a memorized schedule that he’ll be using for the next couple of years to come. It’s been this way ever since the kids were born. The shock and pain of the events that had unfolded since that day are still etched deep. Another large scar inflicted among a mass of other smaller ones.
But today is special. Which is why, after he puts the kids to sleep, he goes to retrieve a bottle of sake, a tobacco tin and the black kiseru, and heads out to the veranda. He draws up a chair to sit on and silently looks up at the midnight sky, hoping to see a starlit night. To his delight, he sees a mass of constellations adorned on the midnight blue, with the shining silver moon at the centre of it all. A perfect night to celebrate her life.
He drinks a couple glasses, sipping slowly, deep in recall. He remembers how they had spent sleepless nights like this, relishing each others company, losing themselves in the bliss of their fiery love. He recalls her beautiful face, her eyes filled with compassion, understanding, acceptance. He indulges in all those memories spent together, how it all seemed to have flown by so fast in the passage of time compared to the current monotonous drag. He remembers their joy and elation upon finding out that they were welcoming new members to their growing family. And then he feels the teardrops slowly rolling down his cheeks as he recalls the day when time stood still for him. He had lost so many close ones over the years, and yet this one had hit the hardest, the closest to home.
He sees her everywhere. He sees her in the discipline displayed by the Hyakka recruits he trains at work. He sees her in the visits to Hinowa’s place. He sees her in the strong work ethic adopted by Seita. He sees her in the kids. He sees her in Yoshida’s eagerness to learn, in his purple eyes. He sees her in Tsukiyo’s quiet demeanour, and her blonde hair. More than ever, the kids are his life, his soul. He will always make sure that they remember their mother, who loved them dearly, who had wanted to watch them grow up, who had eagerly awaited their arrival. She will never be forgotten.
He blames the tears on the blinding light of the moon, and lights the kiseru after putting in the tobacco. He takes a couple puffs, and immediately starts coughing, red-eyed and panting after the cough subsides.
How did you ever manage to keep this habit up… Guess I’ll never know.
He keeps smoking, with the coughing much more subdued than before, tears flowing freely, as he looks up to adore the silver moon.

headcanon about Kou? Just one?
Tumblr media
Finally I’ve drawn Kou again and I can reply without finding myself and my posts too boring and colourless.
Anyway, I’m not going to talk about Junzumi eldest son interacting with a rookie Fairymon (and she’s smaller than she’s supposed to be because I can’t digest Tinkermons are not little like Tinkerbell! She can’t speak either because I say so.)
I want to talk about how stupid I am with my headcanons, really impossible; close me in jail. They call the kid Koujirou because of ✨ Zio Kouji✨ -Junpei and Kouji will become besties , absolutely, top headcanon🤣! -. But Koujirou (Kou) is a goofball like Papà, he lacks self-esteem, he can’t do maths (okay, we don’t know if Kouji can do maths but he should be more clever than Kou🤣!), he can’t even speak in a normal way because he misses some teeth due to soccer practices. He’s the perfect being that can be given a name inspired from Kouji.
Yes. He admires Zio Takuya for Junpei Papà *cough* ‘s joy.

Also Zura's homeschooling will be all about Uno and Jackie Chan's nose. And pass the potato game should be played in company! Like with your loving uncle Gintoki!
I’m telling you rn Gintoki is the type of bachelor uncle to shit talk with you about your parents over a home-cooked meal and traumatize you for life in the same sitting.
