#using a website ≠ supporting CP
the internet is a stupid place because you can see someone get accused of "openly supporting child porn" just because they like. post their works on ao3
#thats not what that means. do you know what words mean?#are there some things on ao3 that people shouldn’t be posting? maybe so#but there’s a hell of a leap between ‘fictional story involving fictional characters with fictional events happening’#and ‘irl minors being exploited for real CP’#using a website ≠ supporting CP#i think it’s uh. how you say. really stupid#dove talks#the fictional content you write and enjoy don’t indicate your morals#like if that was the case i guess im a serial killer because i enjoy creating and consuming bloody and sometimes graphic horror media#and yes of course you have to be responsible with what content you consume. but that doesn’t mean cutting out anything morally challenging#and only consuming ‘safe/good’ media#that helps nothing. it’s good to consume media that isn’t ‘safe’ sometimes#the belief that the fictional media you consume is equivalent to your morals is how we get people saying if you read a book like lolita and#enjoy it in any way. that you’re a bad person and obviously want to do bad things#when lolita is from the perspective of a predator and he’s actually the bad guy there#so of course his behavior is excused in his own perspective#but people who read the book can figure out with critical thinking that hes wrong#it’s the same thing. if you write a character who’s a bad person who does bad things it doesn’t mean you want to do that.#this is very. very simple stuff. but i see grown adults saying that if you write and enjoy ‘dark’ media#you obviously want to do those bad things#which is. genuinely so stupid#like i said. if that was true. i would be a serial killer. because i enjoy violent horror.#it’s stupid#delete later maybe

wait i dont get why u rted that i hope everyone who donated to ao3 dies today post like genuinely ive seen lots of discussion abt it and somewhat reached the conclusion that donating to ao3 wasnt bad and them asking isn’t either ? like omfg “bad” this makes me sound like i see the world in black and white but yh. is there smth im missing?
well i don't know. is there. i do think it's stupid to donate to a website that will always reach up to quadruple it's goal whilst struggling to barely maintain the site itself let alone even leave the beta stage and that is why people get mad that this is repeated every year multiple times a year. i have no problem with the act of donating to a website to keep it running conceptually but it's also fundamentally one that will never offer even attempt to offer moderation due to anti-"censorship" bullshit and is an overrated cesspool of pedophilia and racism and i have never supported the site itself...? it is not a public service that is of actual value it's a form of entertainment run by people who can choose to make decisions but don't. just like how i don't like anyone with those stupid checkmarks on here 😭
also with the money people waste and suddenly have on them TO throw around they could donate to people who actually need help and save their actual lives but they don't want to do that. bc fanfiction is more important to Literal human lives and well-being to some people and as someone facing constant housing insecurity i don't... like that...

While I completely agree that Ao3 sucks it's a little funny to post like this on Tumblr. Who also has a zionist CEO. Who also allows antiblack/otherwise racist content and actively blazes it. Who suppresses the Palestine tag. Who banned NSFW content because they hosted so much CP the authorities got involved. I'd say the only difference between these two websites is the amount of people who vocally support the bad policies. I promise you someone could upload their slavery raceplay fanfic from Ao3 to Tumblr right now and not a thing would be done about it because it isn't against their TOS.
i can't believe you did this unironically and expect me to take you seriously
Tumblr media
here's a question ik you can't answer. what website WOULDN'T it be funny to post? twitter? elon musk is an apartheid child encouraging hate speech. hell he was JUST in Israel. youtube? they've had years of taking down/suppressing videos that mention anything abt lgbt rights. youtube JUST took down a massive archive of israel human rights violations in palestine. racist white supremacist can have massive platforms on there and be PROTECTED if they're big enough. twitter alternatives? any of the ones that brag abt freedom of speech literally are overrun with racists/neo nazis. livejournal? half of us on tumblr were traumatized by fucked up fanfiction on there when we were 16. so, pray tell, what website would be good enough for you? hmmmmm it's almost like zionism is VERY pervasive and every platform is rife with fucked up shit 😳 which is why normal ppl tell you to STOP buying checkmarks and premium. ohhhhh but that's not good enough for you :( so tell me what website should we be posting complaints on? oh but even if there is a perfect website we're still in a fucked up society so i guess it would still be funny to you huh? like do you see how stupid you sound 😭😭😭😭
anyways now if i had 30 checkmarks you'd have a point but i don't so now we're all abt to make fun of you for being a fucking idiot. did you get the embarrassment? did you get the mockery? did you get the little rush of adrenaline when you hit send anon and when you refresh my blog every 20 minutes waiting for a response? is your heart pumping fast? do you feel special? do you feel smart?

People here don't seem to realise that not allowing 'bigoted' sites like KF/4chan/whatever to exist, will just make the people who use those sites move to other sites. They will move to tumblr/xitter/other and then they're interacting with you directly instead of sometimes laughing at you behind closed doors.
I still use KF for certain things (art threads and following a couple of tumblr-based lolcows) and I've seen multiple fellow trans people and trans supporters in those threads. Are there a lot of transphobic users? Absolutely, and I choose not to interact with them/mute their accounts if they're extra annoying.
Say what you want about Null but I've never seen him ban anyone for disagreeing with him, or even insulting him. That's more than I can say for Musk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
All of this. You also never see people calling to deplatform 4chan the same way, news articles about it and calls to its Tier 1 providers to try and get them to deny service, and that's wild to me because Kiwi Farms is a lot smaller and more laid back than 4chan. Kiwi Farms laughs and points and stresses non-involvement; 4chan has hacked websites to fill them with gore and porn just for kicks. 4chan, if you piss them off sufficiently, will send you CP.
Kiwi Farms doesn't want to murder anyone, trans or otherwise. They're as happy as anyone else when someone gets their life together and stops being funny. There's a couple of people they would openly celebrate if they got hit by a bus, but that's true for Tumblr, for Twitter, for everywhere.
(They're particularly mad about what happened to Chloe Sagal, because Chloe didn't blame them at the end, she blamed other trans people and Brianna Wu in particular and the government for turning a blind eye to homelessness and mental illness.)
It's not about defending Kiwi Farms. It's about misinformation and government/big corporations testing the waters, setting precedents for censoring content that isn't illegal.

I'm seeing JSRL using opportunity to promote his dogshit radio website to people cuz of the JSR soundtracks getting taken off of Spotify.
Guys please don't use the Jet Set Radio Live website and just use YouTube or find a download for it for fucks sake, we've been over this.
The site itself is run by a bigoted conspiracy theorist who RTs fictional CP and compared the death of a black person to Coin’s death you don’t wanna be supporting this guy

Still setting shit up but this is my sideblog for some specific things:
Collecting sourced receipts of radqueers/their supporters sui baiting, encouraging undeniable IRL* attraction to children/animals/corpses, producing/distributing CP, and anything similar to that
Writing tutorials for how you can report people who post these things to the appropriate legal channels
Posting well-written resources relating to how radqueers harm people
Basically, I'm tired of the way Tumblr/Discord/DeviantArt/etc can make it hard to get rid of radqueers and I feel the only way to eliminate these predators' access to the internet is to go straight to the appropriate legal channels. Please feel free to @ my URL in any posts with receipts but please know that actual Tumblr posts or web archived links are very preferred over screenshots.
*I'm noting "IRL" here because so many people think that fictional child sexual abuse material is perfectly fine, although I would like to note that I do not support/endorse "fictional CSAM" and it is recognized as being equally harmful to IRL CSAM/CP by places like MissingKids.com (organizations dedicated to stopping child abuse). But I'm not dedicating this space to arguing about that, so don't send me asks or w/e about it.
To all radqueers who are considering leaving the community: There is a safe space for you in the anti-radqueer community. Radqueers are not the only ones who will accept you. You can find a better place to feel safe. This is a safe space for you.
My to do list and some tags/links you might find useful are underneath the cut:
Write a step by step tutorial on how to report online content listed above to https://report.cybertip.org/ and the other websites I have
Make sure to include somewhere in my guides why it's wrong to sui bait or generally interact with RQs

The callout post against st@ff was not harassment: a compilation 💕
THE TITLE IS IRONY AND I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANYONE. ~ CW: discussion of CSA, pedophilia, antisemitism and nazism
Premise: the original post that the OP got banned for was added again in the Google doc, so I had the chance to see it. It was NOT making the extremely serious accusations that we have been talking about, however: it was an ad-hominem exposure of a st@ff's member blog that implied a connection between her own private and, let me repeat, not "problematic" art and the inaction of st@ff in banning terfs.
I completely agree that supporting JKR in any way is awful. However, this means literally supporting the woman in her bigotry, and you cannot assume liking her franchise is the same. It was (WAS) a cultural phenomenon in a past time and it had uncountable fans. I was a huge fan in my early teens, I obviously am not anymore, but that originally happened because her whole body of work got mediocre and unhinged really fast - it just preceded its creator in obviously falling apart. Her being a disgusting person came later and became the main reason not to return to it or even speak about it. I cannot understand how anyone continues to like it, but that is a far cry from publicly implying a fan automatically supports all of the woman's views just for that reason. Even if OP did not spell it out, they 100% meant it, and this is not a justifiable accusation in any way.
So is alleging that a member's liking of specific media is the reason st@ff doesn't properly moderate the site. Not only is it bewildering OP even thought of the connection, it's also asinine in the understanding of how the moderation of an enormous social media website works, especially in a time where understaffing is so common.
If the post wasn't harassment itself (which is debatable) it was certainly a personal attack and a bomb waiting to explode. Tumblr is quick to start enormous amounts of harassment off these bs callout posts. So yes, this was a hazard to the member's safety on her workplace and OP got exactly what they deserved.
THAT SAID
Tumblr media
Right after deletion: read all about st@ff member being a freak 💕
Tumblr media
"OP never implied that member was ACTUALLY a terf!" aside from the fact they did, if OP didn't do that, well, a certain user took care of what their post was lacking!
Tumblr media
Pictured above, completely reasonable criteria to determine if a certain person is prone to a certain type of SA and is a danger to the real lives of real vulnerable children. I must comment here, this is a very dark and touchy topic and it's completely true that fan content can be used by real pdos to groom people. That, however, is on the pdo - it doesn't automatically make that content CP. Some can obviously be. Certainly not a g-rated and barely romantic (if you can say so, even) art of child characters aged up to their teens.
Also, someone has a different idea than you on what constitutes risk behavior for something as serious as pedophilia? They are all pdos now! Talk about taking it lightly!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OH OOPSIE! Maybe calling st@ff member a nazi and a freak was a little too much! Let's change the contents so that we can't be accused of that in the future! 💖
You can still read the Google doc for yourself, with new and improved title, here:
This is so you can read yourself and disagree with me if you see fit. I just felt that there was too much going on here to ignore.
What st@ff did must have had a Streisand effect they didn't expect, and I mean, who in the fuck would ever react to moderation as censorship if not the geniuses on Tumblr.
However:
this shit is exactly why they removed the post
Because they knew OP's already baseless and offensive implications could generate harassment of this kind.

The problem with ao3 is less that it exists in the way it does (although there are reasons to criticize it), and more that it's basically the only media-dominated fanfiction site? Like. Does anyone actually use ffn anymore. Like. In real life. And wattpad exists and gets a lot of use, don't get me wrong, but wattpad is largely dominated by rpf, so it's not really where you go for like. Media fandom.
So you run into this issue of adults and children existing on the same website creating content for two different demographics, but all within the same space. Pointing out that Ao3 has a fairly robust tagging and filtering system doesn't entirely address the concern, which is that there's millions of different people with vastly different needs all congregated by necessity in one place. The centralization of the internet is not the fault of Ao3; this does not lie at their feet, but it is occurring here, and I don't think it's helpful to pretend that the tag system are enough of a solution. The core problem is bigger than that. Everyone has to be here, whether they like it or not, and so arguments about what it should and should not be, and what it should not support are inevitable.
And I know smug pro-ship types will say things like 'just make another archive' and there's like. Several problems with that. Running a website is fucking expensive, even if you're doing it for a niche community. And it's more difficult to support your fanfic hub (even if it doesn't involve paying for servers cause its hosted somewhere else) when your community is tiny. I'm sure MCU fans could get away with making like 7 different archives if they wanted to right now, but not so much for something like Re:Zero, which despite having a LOT of fans most of them are not fandom types. And fucking forget it if your fandom is just like 5 people tops. Even if you have the community support necessary, Moderation itself is often a shitshow especially in smaller spaces because if A doesn't like B its much more difficult to avoid them. And like...I know you guys know this stuff, because whenever someone TRIES making another fanfic archive you're always laughing at getting out the popcorn for when it crashes and burns for these reasons. Quit pretending this is a viable solution when you KNOW it isn't going to work.
This isn't to exonerate people on the other side. I don't think turning ao3 into this heavily regulated space is going to help anything at all, and in its own right will invite the problems from fandom past. The more regulations there are on something like this the more likely it's going to turn into a shitshow whether you have powerhungry moderators or entitled creators etc etc etc. Not to mention getting everyone to agree on what the rules are for something this large is just not feasible. You can say 'no CP', and I know you probably think as a rule that's intuitive and everyone understands what that means, but given the endless discourses constantly being had about if xyz ship is predatory that are had online on a daily basis BETWEEN PEOPLE WHO CALL THEMSELVES ANTIS EVEN, you'll find that's not actually the case. Unless everyone agrees on what exactly counts as 'CP' and how it applies in any given fandom on that website, enforcing that is a nightmare. It's not going to happen. Stop pretending this is going to happen.
There just. Isn't a good fix. Unless the internet becomes less....conglomerated. Which will take a lot more time and more systemic change than can be accomplished when arguing 'is the fanfic archive bad or good'

What’s New in the Draft of the Decree on Amending the Decree 52 on E-Commerce?
The DecreeNo.52/2013/ND-CP (Decree 52) on e-commerce will be effective from July 1st, 2013. However, this Decree does not have specific regulations on e-commerce activities for foreign investors conducting e-commerce activities in Vietnam. Therefore, the draft of the Decree amending Decree 52 shall fill the missing gap for foreign investors with particulars in conducting e-commerce activities in Vietnam.
Tumblr media
The draft decree has supplemented regulations on management of e-commerce activities for foreign investors setting up business in Vietnam. Specifically, the draft decree (i) adds specific regulations on foreign traders and organizations conducting e-commerce activities in Vietnam; (ii) supplements market access conditions for foreign investors in accordance with the Law on Investment; and (iii) provides the exclusion of foreign investors investing in economic organizations that are innovative and creative enterprises in order to promote innovation activities in accordance with the law on support small and medium enterprises.
In particular, the draft decree also provides plans for e-commerce activities of foreign investors in Vietnam. According to the draft decree, foreign investors can set up an e-commerce website under the Vietnamese domain name or an e-commerce website with the display language in Vietnamese. The option of setting up an e-commerce exchange floor with a specified number of transactions from Vietnam in a year is also considered for selection.
In addition, foreign investors setting up e-commerce websites in Vietnam must notify and register e-commerce activities according to regulations. At the same time, they need to ensure the fulfillment of obligations on protection the interests of consumers. The quality of the goods need to be protected by their representative office, designation of a legal representative in Vietnam.
Foreign investors selling goods on Vietnamese e-commerce exchanges must comply with the operating regulations of e-commerce exchanges in Vietnam. When providing Vietnam e-commerce exchanges, foreign investors are responsible for verifying their identities. In addition, foreign investors conducting e-commerce activities are responsible for complying with the provisions of Vietnamese law on the right to export and import goods in accordance with the laws.
The draft decree also specifies that e-commerce service is a conditional market access industry for foreign investors. Market access conditions will also be considered accordingly. In addition, the control and domination of enterprises providing e-commerce services are also clearly regulated.
In the coming time, Vietnam will continue to receive comments to supplement and complete the draft of decree amending Decree 52 on e-commerce activities. It is important to create a clear and appropriate e-commerce operating environment to attract foreign investors with experience and capability to invest, set up company and operate in Vietnam in the area of e-commerce to facilitate goods transaction, protect intellectual property, reduce cost. However, it is also equally important to ensure the management of investment activities of foreign investors in the field of e-commerce in Vietnam.

( people are really freaking out over not a lot with the ao3 thing, lady wants to enforce trigger warnings and make sure they're used properly and everyones screaming and freaking out over censorship and "the damn antis not wanting csem on a fanfic website" ...)
i see where you're coming from with this, i think?? the response to tiffany g has certainly been quite... intense, and there's a lot of disagreement on what her actual intentions are regarding becoming an otw board member, but i'm afraid i personally disagree with you on this - i'm really very wary of her and i would encourage people not to vote for her in the board elections.
(longer explanation under the cut to keep the dash clear - trigger warnings for mentions of csa, paedophilia, and cp)
after reading through the candidate chat with her and michelle s (1st august 2022), (can be found here) i can't say that i trust her to be truthful about her intentions and priorities when it comes to ao3. her responses backpedal and contradict each other when the interviewer asks her to clarify what she means, and she seems to be far more concerned about boosting the public image and growth of ao3 than with improving the site on it's own terms (e.g. providing users with enhanced/updated features), which i dislike.
she mentions that "a lot of external people have issues with our ToS and policies", and states that "we need to protect our image and hold a better image to the public. I want the public to think of us as an inclusive and socially responsible community", and attributes the cause of this to "the fact that some works contain child pornography, pedophilic content, and other illegal content", asserting that "people think we host child porn content and such things".
to be very clear: i in no way condone, encourage, or promote child pornography or paedophilia. real people suffer from these acts and their long-term physical, mental and emotional effects, which can be incredibly harmful.
however, the way that tiffany responds to the interviewer's questions leads me to dislike her overall intentions to address this issue in general - the interviewer asks:
"You mention wanting to update the TOS to address concerns about content posted to the site. How does that fit into AO3 general principle of “maximum inclusiveness of content”? Which content and why?"
to which tiffany responds:
" I support 100% “maximum inclusiveness of content”, yet there is always a boundary to everything. Since OTW is already an influential org, we need to protect our image and hold a better image to the public. I want the public to think of us as an inclusive and socially responsible community. So in general, we have to do something to change. Things like making the rating system more specific and obvious to users will be what I want to do."
her first sentence makes me incredibly nervous just by itself - perhaps it's just the wording but that, to me, sounds like the beginning of a justification for more wide-reaching intervention in content posted on ao3. this is partly because she also doesn't actually say "[w]hich content" she's talking about. my worry is that this is a slippery slope that will lead to the banning, restriction, and/or removal of things like LGBT+ content, politically critical/relevant commentary, etc. LGBT+ content, and the LGBT+ community at large, has long been accused of propagating paedophilia and csa simply by existing, which is very clearly untrue - i am concerned that this is a manifestation of that accusation.
she changes her statements based on what the interviewer asks, which makes me distrust the truth of her statements. when asked if she is "proposing that the Terms of Service be updated to restrict additional content that is currently allowed on the Archive", she replies "Not really restricting the content being posted. I hope it is like more warnings and ratings for posting work so people know what to expect". however, later on she is asked to "please clarify how you propose we treat the content we currently have in the archive that should be banned with those proposed TOS changes", and she now says that "If there are changes, it is going to be some slower work I suspect. Will work with PAC to figure out if changes are necessary". it's unclear where the boundary lies for works that already exist vs works that will be posted in the future, and she dodges the second question entirely. in her first response, she says that content will "[n]ot really" be restricted, yet in her second response she avoids actually saying what she would want done with pre-existing content, and makes vague references to "changes". this, to me, implies the potential for arbitrary removal of pre-existing works, as according to an as-yet unknown criteria.
she mentions that ao3 is "banned in [her] home country", and that this is "due to some incident related to a piece of pedophilic work that is posted at AO3". this all but confirms that said country is china, as ao3 is currently banned by the chinese government and the incident she is referring to is likely to be the 227 incident - please google this as i'm not sure my summary is the best, but essentially 227 chinese fans of chinese pop idol xiao zhan kicked off about an rps fic about a show he appeared in in 2020, which they thought cast a negative light on the idol, mass-reporting the fic for various contrived reasons until the chinese government censors noticed and blanket banned the entire site. it's unclear whether this was a case of censors going 'oh shit this does actually look like something we should censor because it might challenge our policies and position' or 'haha finally, we've had our eye on ao3 for ages and this is the excuse we need', but it strongly appears as though tiffany is either incredibly misinformed or straight-up lying about the cause of the chinese ao3 ban - neither of these makes me trust in her intentions or her judgement.
i think that her focus on the public image of ao3 by making it more generically and inoffensively palatable ("help build a better image for us in my home country") is an awfully corporate, detached way of viewing the archive - i would prefer a board member to be someone who is more passionate about helping the fans of the archive and fostering the fan communities that surround and support ao3. i dislike her overall intentions for the archive and i dislike her style of being evasive around questions.

We need to normalise and deal with mental health. Through @TheCPDiary I get to talk about mental health; I normalise mental health.
I was so saddened to hear about The Princess of Wales' cancer diagnosis, who took on mental health.
Sadly, I have seen myself and know all too well that just talking about mental health doesn’t keep us emotionally safe… I talk about mental health because I have been touched by cancer. I have lost family to cancer and mental health. I know what that looks and feels like.
Without dealing with our inner, those can hurt us, can make us physically sick. Sickness revolves around our 'inner thoughts' – the very same thoughts we fail to deal with (not to be confused with our every day conscious thoughts).
It is important to remember that without 'Mental Health there is no Health'. We may look OKAY on the outside, but that isn't always true.
I cannot force anyone to deal with their mental health, but I can offer support, guidance and the resources to help them address and manage their mental health concerns.
It is up to each of 'us' to take the necessary steps to prioritise mental well-being. I started my journey nearly 14 years ago when I started @TheCPDiary
So, if you are looking to start a conversation about 'mental health' – and I hope that you are... OR: You're looking to take those first steps on your mental health journey, why not tag along and check out my books and website – @thecpdiary
