Another interesting fact I found when I read TB's 2nd volume.

Sumeragi's family house is in Sagano, Kyoto. Sagano is always been paired with Arashiyama. Yes, that Arashiyama, where you can find these scenery.

According to Japan Guide, Arashiyama actually refers to the mountains on the southern bank of Togetsukyo Bridge, where the northern part refers to Sagano, but they actually called the whole district as Arashiyama due to its popularity. That's why the anime isn't entirely wrong when it wrote Arashiyama as where Sumeragi's family house is, because Sagano and Arashiyama are one part.

And please notice that the house is huge. As expected from a well-known, reserved onmyoji family. And it's written as 本宅 (hontaku), means main residence. That should be enough to explain how Subaru and Hokuto can afford their own private MANSION.

Talking about Hokuto and Subaru,

The mansion Subaru and Hokuto lived was in Kabuki-cho, Shinjuku, Tokyo. Their mansion was placed in a popular area in Shinjuku itself, close to Shinjuku Station. A very strategic place to reside in, especially with the nature of Subaru's work that keeps him busy and rely on trains.

And while people who live outside Japan probably think mansions aren't that expensive, this is Japan, and the story took place during Economic Bubble period. Real Estates are expensive at the time, and even now, one can barely afford a mansion in the middle of Tokyo. The most common housing in Japan is apartments, especially studio apartments, but Sumeragi Clan literally prepared two separated mansions for their heirs.

Let's just say Subaru has his own income and probably paid the necessary with his own money. How about Hokuto? She was still in high school, and seeing her expenses on clothing, it's either she worked as fashion designer in secret OR Sumeragi family is super rich.

Fun Fact: Seishiro's clinic is also in Kabuki-cho. But we know how high he was paid for being an assassin (while keeping his hobby, stalking, on track).

And talking about this place...

I wonder why Obaa-chan allowed her grandchildren to move into this town. Unless....

EDIT: Thanks @sixth-vip for reminding me that I haven’t mentioned it! Japan’s Mansion isn’t your normal house building, but it’s similar to condominium or expensive apartment (like ones you find in New York) in western style,. Meanwhile, apartments are smaller in size (maybe around hostel size). And you see, Subaru’s room is huge--because mansions are bigger in size and usually used by families. I forgot to mention that mansions in Japan and outside Japan have different context. Both are expensive anyway.

modern au jaime post figuring out his trauma works at an animal shelter for dogs

Single dad Ned finds a bunch of “puppies” by the road and is like idk what kind these are and takes them to get checked and vetted up before taking them home and he goes to jaimes shelter and like he doesn’t expect him there and Jaime leaves him with a bad taste in his mouth but like his kids will love these puppies and is like hey can u tell me what these are and give them their shots so I can go and jaimes just like u dumb sexy idiot I have bad history with these are WOLVES how did you find theses?????? U were gonna give them to children ?????? Jaime instantly needing to have sex with this fucking idiot. Post cersei he hasn’t been with anyone in years due to insecurities/major blows to his confidence (cersei trauma and no hand trauma) and the lack of practice in genuine flirting besides a little thing he had with his bestie (brienne) but they were both going thru some shit and are just family now but he literally hasn’t been interested in anyone either (demisexual jaime rights) so he literally is just stumbling and blushing and then just blatantly flirting but ned thinks that’s just how he’s always been but maybe a little more nervous than usual so doesn’t really get it

But also later for jaime truly falling for him it’s because ned is just such a good dad (obviously ruggedly hot but that’s besides the point) with a heart of gold like he’s a single dad of fucking 6 plus Theon so 7 and is super busy with his company but makes time for all of those fucking kids and all of their activities and for ned—ned is just like wow Jaime is really good with these dogs they really like him animals know best plus he’s very very good at his job just something about an efficient man that animals like he seems changed and a good person now plus he’s gorgeous and my kids don’t mind him I’ll let myself love him :)

but Jaime at first is just purely horny for ned (that’s just what he tells himself) and then eventually is like oh no…..I am in love with this old caring father while said father at first had no idea what was going on but after they fuck he immediately and silently in his head decides he’s romantically seeing where things go and falls in love gradually and naturally compared to jaimes bomb of a realization one day as he has no practice in this besides having always been “in love” (imagine post trauma Jaime also air quoting) with cersei and ned was fully married and in love before

FUCK and of course Jaime has to go over periodically to check on the wolves growth and behavior cuz like that’s what ALL vets do right …right??!!?? He tells himself yes of course 😅 I’m not being too secretly crazy in love I’m just being helpful! He won’t catch on! Ned goes from oblivous to begrudgingly accepting into making it apart of his life and something to look forward to with Jaime in their initial stages of romance while jaime is just internally screaming that he hopes ned doesn’t catch onto his feelings and how much he needs ned in his life and cares and if he rejects him cuz cersei never gave a single shit about any of his true feelings and he cannot handle losing the best man he’s ever met even as a kind of friend he’s fucking and helping taking care of his wolves and kids (jaime is their second dad at this point he’s the only one who doesn’t know)

He also thinks ned doesn’t know what to do with all these dogs anyway he’s a busy man with 7 kids he needs help these poor wolves probably aren’t getting proper care and the children need rides to school which is on his way to work (jaime is the one not getting proper care and ned can tell the man is low key struggling on his own why not just add another one into the pack more the merrier)

And of course ned has a huge property and one of the pups gets lost late at night and he calls Jaime to help and they get snowed in at some cabin at the end of the property where the little pup took shelter (probs ghost bc he’s harder to find and quiet so it would take until nightfall) and ya know ~things~ happen between the two men

I need those two mfs to be locked in a cabin so bad idk …

I'm happy to hear the surgery went well! I'm not sure if you've talked about it before (I only started following recently) but I was wondering what made you decide to become a vet?

AWWW hi there, that’s kind of you to say!! god, i’ve wanted to be a vet since i was like… probably six or seven years old?? as soon as i found out that horse ranching is no longer a viable career option in the 21st century 😂

it was def spurred on by my love of animals. here’s some deep aqua lore: i was a Horse Girl for my entire childhood and even took riding lessons at one point. but funnily enough, i’m not actually going into equine medicine (at least not right away). these days i’m solidly in the Cat Person camp and going into small animal practice, potentially ER (i’ve got an externship this summer that’ll let me know if that’s the right choice or not HAH).

ofc, love of animals alone isn’t always enough to base a career off of. i’ve taken a lot of steps thru highschool and undergrad to make sure this is the field for me, cuz it’s a LOT of biology and physiology and anatomy (which turned out to be a surprise love of mine). and even though there are specialists out there for just about everything, the average general practice veterinarian has to be a jack of all trades; a clinician, a surgeon, a radiologist, an internist, a behaviorist, a nutritionist, the list goes on- and usually for multiple species that can have DRASTICALLY different biology! that’s daunting, sure, but also really exciting.

i love vet med because it’s a job that involves lifelong learning (and not just by doing required CE credits) and it has nearly infinite possibilities. i can go into virtually any aspect of the field the day i graduate, with no additional schooling required except for a residency or rotating internship. and there’s so much freedom if i decide to switch gears later on! i have professors who have moved to different disciplines three or four times. there’s also great opportunity for teaching and mentorship, which i’ve also discovered i enjoy, without having to have any kind of degree in education because it’s all clinical-based. i’m already thinking that i might pursue some kind of teaching position when i’m old and i’ve had my fun actually practicing medicine 😂

anyway that was prob more in-depth than it needed to be, but HOT DOG i’m excited!! having our first surgeries this week made it all feel that much more real, rather than a classroom theoretical, and it’s always great to have reassurance that i’m def where i want to be.

ok so the plan for tomorrow (technically later today bc it’s 1am but i don’t count it as “tomorrow” until after i’ve gone to sleep) is to get up, take care of my dog, go to michael’s for art supplies for my final project, stop at the vet’s office on the way back to get henry’s probiotic, work on the writing part of my project, clean my bong bc it’s SO GROSS while i’m taking breaks from the school stuff, and then once i feel like i’ve got a good amount of the academic bits done for the day i’m gonna smoke up bc it’s 4/20 and then maybe work on some of the art parts bc i can melt crayons and shit while i’m stoned. and my parents are gonna be out most of the day again so i can just vibe and eat as little as possible again, it’ll prob be less than today even bc i finished the last of the strawberries with yogurt today so now i can’t have more of that, if i can last until evening on nothing or almost nothing i’ll either eat smth small for dinner or skip it and just have a snack with my parents when they get home from visiting my mom’s cousin. i was at 200 calories exactly for the day but then we made popcorn when my dad got home and popcorn is seriously one of my greatest weaknesses and then to even out the numbers (thanks ocd) i had a little chocolate. but i’m still ok with my total for the day being 500 bc it would have been more if i’d actually eaten dinner. idk whether to be happy or worried that i’m like genuinely not hungry almost at all anymore, it makes it easier to eat less but it’s also probably objectively not a good thing health-wise, not that i really care about being healthy bc hello, ed, and also there’s so much about my stupid shitty body that also doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to it’s not like this is even remotely the biggest problem i have rn. i am getting worried about how often my chest hurts tho, like not an asthma chest tightness thing, and not a shooting heart attack sounding pain, just this ache-y almost stiff feeling, like if you hadn’t been able to bend a stiff joint for a long time and then once you could again it just feels Off, idk. probably not good, but i’m so close to the end of the semester and so close to my goals i’m not gonna do anything about it unless it turns into an emergency sort of situation

i’ve been doing better emotionally for the past days. i’ve been catching up on schoolwork (which is neverending i swear). but im going to the vet today🥲🥲 bc one of my cats scratched (i guess) one of my other cats in the face and caught her eye and i guess that they might’ve scratched her cornea or something. and im kinda scared for that. it doesn’t seem to be too bad but we don’t want to risk it getting worse and her losing vision or anything bc i’ll literally die.

ahh the hanji magic school pc though!! he’s the absolute cutiest!! and the fact that you got a mini quokka too that’s so nice💜 i really wanted to order a skzoo from this fan meet too but after the Tofu (cat) incident i don’t think i can (but it’s totes fine bc i’ll do anything for my babies forever).

OH NOOOOO sending all my love to Tofu :((( one of my cats did the same thing shortly after I moved out of my parents’ house and she had a really badly scratched and swollen eye and she needed antibiotic eye drops for a little while, I think it took maybe a month before her eye fully looked better but it was so so hard seeing her like that ☹️💔💔 sending Tofu all my love!!!! That’s so unfortunate ☹️

Ok I’m obsessed with dad!eddie and I love your blog and here’s some dad!eddie ideas-

- like 100% he would practice EVERYTHING. Chrissy would wake up with her hair carefully braided and swaddled in a blanket because he wanted to make sure he could do both.

-He would watch My Little Pony with their daughter (and suddenly realize after 10 years where Erica got the name Lady Applejack lol).

-He’d obsessively vet any babysitter who came near his kids and give them the most ridiculous questions in interviews (“If my daughter is being kidnapped by Van Halen, where do you shoot him?” / “Umm… his leg so he can still play music?” / “Absolutely not, that’s a trick question- you don’t shoot him anywhere because you can’t bring a gun around my daughter. And you better not let her be kidnapped either. But thats not relevant anyway since you definitely don’t get the job.”). Ultimately, Chrissy makes him settle for either Hopper and Joyce or Uncle Wayne, or Murray when he’s in town.

-Also Wayne would definitely be their daughter’s favorite grandparent. He’d totally get her anything she wanted and spoil her completely. He’d research all the trends shes into (because he doesn’t know anything about these Backstreet Boys until she mentions it).

-Also Chrissy is definitely the one to teach their daughter to drive because Eddie the speed demon hasn’t driven above the speed limit since their daughter was born and is one of those parents who panic-holds the door handle and is like “BREAK!!” whenever you come within 30 ft of a stop sign.

-On that, their biggest fight was when Chrissy was in labor and he wouldn’t drive a mile over the speed limit because it would be too dangerous for them

-I love the idea of one of their daughter’s friends kinda having a similar background to his- like parents always working or neglectful or living with an extended family member and whatnot. Just never having the support they need. So Eddie and Chrissy become like their second parents and even though the friend’s kind of a trouble maker sometimes, they’ll listen to Eddie if he talks to them and gives advice and they spend all their time at the Munson house.

-also always, but especially in a Chrissy survives Vecna au, they definitely have music as a big part of their house and it almost kills Eddie when their daughter goes through a pop boyband phase in middle school (“but I love her, I love her, I’ll always support her… nomatterwhat😭 no matter if her music taste is completely mainstream… iloveheriloveheriloveher”) and by the time NSYNC or whatever starts growing on him, she switches over to heavy metal

OMFFFG TYYY MY DEAR FOR THIS!!! THESE ARE ALL WONDERFUL….🌸🤍

Okay so now to discuss hehe:

- 100% absolutely Eddie would definitely be super super super like cautionary in everything he does bc he just like wants to be a perfect dad?? Probs bc he didn’t have one growing up but his uncle taught him well enough!! (We stan Wayne anywaysss) but also Eddie is a lil insecure when it comes to his bab bc he doesn’t wanna do anything wrong and Chrissy is just there to be like… “baby, it’s okay nobody is perfect!”

-MLP YESSSSS I literally love that <3 I think Eddie would take inspiration and call his lil girl pinkie pie or something bc that would be her fav pony and then he’d also mentally smile bc he’d think of that one campaign where Erica literally saved the day bc of her very important appearance as Lady Applejack

-babysitters??? Pshhhh nope Eddie, even being the proper adult/father that he is now, would literally loveeee the idea of interviewing some teenager who’s willing to watch his kid just to mess with them! He thinks it’s hilarious to watch their reactions turn from neutral to concerned after he Interrogates them with his outrageous questions….and then there’s Chrissy who’s like “Eddie, they’re just teenagers who need a job, give them a break” and he simply argues with the fact of “so?? We were once annoying teenagers” but rlly Eddie doesn’t trust anyone who’s not an adult to watch over his precious being

-OKAY…..I’m literally an uncle Wayne stan till I die 🥺✋🏻 HE JUST SEEMS SO SWEET AND PURE and knowing that he took Eddie under his wing makes me like melt! So naturally after he found out that he was gonna be a grandpa, he was like rlly happy like hugging Eddie and telling him how proud he was that he turned around his life and how much he loves him with Chrissy blah blah blah so when they finally had their bundle of joy he helped them out as much as he could bc face it….I can imagine Eddie and Chrissy to be those scared first timer parents! So from birth, their little girl was also watched over by Wayne. They’d literally grow to be besties and to the point that when she could start to speak SHE WOULD BE BEGGIN to go to grandpas and honestly they’d be grateful bc they also love their child free nights

-so when their Girl is finally old enough to drive Chrissy wouldnt even bother telling Eddie that she’s gonna start driving bc that man would def want to be the one to teach her and Chrissys explanation to why he won’t be present EVER is obviously the story of her labour 😭 which brings us to….

-Chrissy giving birth yeah? CRAZY absolutely not planned at all so that kinda left them in a state of panic cuz they thought they would have at least 2 more weeks to prepare BUT NO!! So here’s Eddie literally driving in his shitty ass van with a very pregnant chrissy who just wants to push that tiny human out, but Eddie’s behind the wheel freaking out and driving sooooooo slow which leads to Chrissy yelling “Eddie Munson, I swear to whatever God there is up there that I will chop off that dick of yours If you don’t drive any faster!!” And then he just literally bolts it bc he knows how crazy she is especially when she’s pumping out those hormones </3 but they make it all in one piece and the birth goes smoothly and Chrissy starts crying bc she’s so sorry for yelling at him and Eddie thinks it’s adorable

-YESSSS their daughter is super social, thank you Eddie for raising your babe to be just as animated as u are 🙏🏻 so obvs the little gal has tons of friends at school because one, she’s super polite, and two, she’s extremely friendly!! When Eddie and Chrissy hear her constantly begging to bring home a new friend theyre kinda shocked bc they feel as if their home has become a daycare??? Not in a bad way of course, but that fact rlly helps one of their daughters friend because that friend doesn’t come from the best home, so they take them under their wing and treat them as one of their own!! I also imagine Ed and Chris to not like want anymore children bc let’s be real…..accident baby 😔 so it’s nice for their daughter to have someone else her age around her all the time

-MUSIC YESSSSSSS like Eddie would raise her on all his fav stuff but he’s a little heartbroken when she’s into all the generic pop (spice girls 😹😹) but When she’s older she grows to appreciate everything daddy has introduced her to and all the memories attached 💕

What I think aot 104th cadets fave class would be out of the 7 classes aot vets teach

The classes aot vets teach: English/ AP Gov. (Erwin), History (Levi), Biology (Hange), Math (Miche), Law (Pixis), Statistics (Hannes), Finance (Nile)

(Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Connie, Sasha, Jean, Historia, Yumir, Reiner, Bertolt, Annie, Marco, Floch, Marlo, Hitch, Boris) (source was attackontitan.fandom.com so sorry if it's wrong)

Eren: History. He doesn't seem like it, but Eren is really interested in history and enjoys learning about what people in the past did and how people survived and lived back then. Always denies help from teachers isn't doing the best in that class. Prob has a C or C+ but he has fun learning so he doesn't care that much about his grade. He's kind of a teacher's pet and is the kind of person to tell on someone when they have their phone out or when he catches someone cheating he goes right to Mr. Ackerman. He will raise his hand during independent work time if he sees someone on their phone when they're not supposed to be and when the teacher comes over to help him, Eren will take no time to quietly say, "Mr. Ackerman they're on their phone" in a volume where only the person he's talking to can hear.

Mikasa: English. She doesn't care too much about reading part, but she probably really likes to write. I can see her as someone who has a journal on her at all times and journals throughout the day. Her favorite books you read in an English class are To Kill A Mocking Bird, Jane Eyre, and The Outsiders. I feel like she'd write poetry and have a poetry journal. She sits in the library after school and studies while listening to The Cure. She's the type to never answer questions in class and not raise her hand, but she has an A in that class and has gotten really close to the teacher. One time Erwin asked her to stay after class, and she expected Mr. Smith to criticize her on something, but he actually wanted to tell her how amazing she is at writing and how beautiful her poetry is.

Armin: Biology. Hanges biology class also has a marine biology class that's only offered 2nd period, and you already know the second Armin saw that he took it in a heartbeat. He's not the biggest fan of Hange as a teacher since there are some explosions that happen for some reason, but he really likes their teacher's assistant Moblit, who Armin always talks to after class and sometimes during lunch about marine biology. He's the kind of person to raise his hand for every question, and during class, he has this look in his eyes that really lets you see how much he loves the ocean and ocean life. His grade is an A+ and a 103.7% in that class since he does every possible extra credit assignment, and he even writes essays on marine biology when he sees that he has every assignment turned in. After school, you can always find him in either his marine biology class or the library.

Connie: Finance. He HATES Nile as a teacher but likes learning about money and the idea of making a lot of it. He's a total class clown and gets detention at least twice a month. Not only that, but he also always talks about how he's gonna 'make the most money and become the richest man in the world with a lot of super hot babes all over him' (he got detention one when he said that cause Nile thought it was "too inappropriate"). He's always asking Nile for any snacks he has, and even learned what his music taste was so he could talk to him about it and possible get a better grade. Connie passes almost every pop quiz, but only because he copies off of Jean. He probably has a 73% in Nile's class, but talks about how 'it's gonna be worth it when his rich and living in a mansion.'

Sasha: Law. She doesn't really understand what goes on in class, but she really likes Pixis as a teacher. She's always asking him if he has any parking ticket stories or any speeding ticket stories, and laughs at every one jokes and stories. It's the only she really pays attention in and is getting a good grade in. She doses off in class but lucky for her Pixis takes notes with everyone and always has a copy of the notes so he gives Sasha the notes. Her councilor is really surprised when they see her grade cause she has a B+ on the verge of an A in that class.

Jean: Statistics. He's not a huge fan of math, but he has a B+ in that class, since Hannes makes it super easy. The drawings that cover Hannes chalk board? Jean did 90% of those, and Hannes thinks it's really cool. Jean also like how Hannes has juice in his mini fridge because he tends to forget to drink anything during school, so the drinks are always really refreshing. He also likes learning about data and how he can use it in the real world. The only reason he doesn't like that class is because Eren goes into his class before lunch since his shitty teacher lets him, Armin, and Mikasa out early. But he does enjoy seeing Mikasa.

Historia: Math. Not the biggest math fan, but ADORES the teacher. She likes how Miche sees everyone as an individual person and not just as a big group of basic people. She has an A+ in his class, and when appreciates it when he offers her after school help when she doesn't get the grade she wants. She also likes how he doesn't get bothered when she sprays her Freshe Body Spray with essential oils in the flavor Cashmere Vanilla. He's also her go-to teacher to get advice from when she has relationship problems.

Yumir: Biology. She likes the experiments they do in that class and finds it funny when something goes wrong. She also always gets something out of the snack drawer or something to drink, whether its hot chocolate or coffee. She doesn't like the subject that much, but she just hates school in general. It doesn't matter how fun the class is, she won't like it that much. Doesn't have the best grade but has a D+ and Hanges grading scale is weird, and they always give really easy extra credit, so Yumir actually has a C+ which still isn't the best but at least she isn't failing.

Reiner: Finance. He's not doing amazing in that class at all. (D-) He likes the teacher though. Even though Nile's strict, Reiner finds him funny and kinda chill in a way no one understands. He's also always joking with the Nile, so people think he's passing, but he's not. Overworks himself a lot and since Nile's the kinda teacher where when he sees a finished paper he tells the student 'good job' even if he hasn't even read it yet. Reiner likes the validation. Also, Reiner feels like he can talk to Nile about anything and not have to worry about getting reported to the school counselor, therapist, or psychiatrist (what ever your school has).

Bertolt: History. IDK I just feel like he enjoys learning about history. He has a B- but he thinks it's an ok grade so he doesn't worry about it. Keeps to himself, and whenever you look at him, you can tell he's paying attention. Annie's in his class, and he takes quick glances over at her. He's always shifting around in his chair since the desk doesn't fit his legs very well, but he deals with it. Always writing notes, and I feel like he has a different colored pen for each topic they learn about. Finds the Roman Empire the most interesting thing to learn about and asks Levi for suggestions on history books that might be interesting.

Annie: Math. She doesn't like the subject but enjoys how laid back Miche is when it comes to teaching. She also likes how Miche doesn't really socialize with her as much as everyone else, since he knows she can be really introverted and doesn't enjoy socializing. She likes how easy he makes math seem and secretly really likes the little compliments he writes on the papers cause it makes her feel seen. She has an A-

Marco: AP Government. Marco's interested in how the government works and how much power they have. He's very outspoken about his opinion and believes in freedom, which Erwin appreciates. Marco's the type to ask for extra work, since he finished his work already. He also does Wordle's when he's done with his work and sees that he's no missing assignments. Not only does he play Wordle, he also plays every version of Wordle. He has an A+

Hitch: Statistics. DESPISES MATH, but really likes the teacher and sees him as a friend. She can be a bitch in class but likes that Hannes doesn't overreact about anything, and she likes how he gives everyone access to juice and snacks. Always tells Hannes the gossip, even though he doesn't care. She also likes how he doesn't mark anyone as tarty and lets her bring her McDonald's into class and eat it. She has a C+

Floch: Finance. Honestly, he just likes to brag about how he's taking finance, which means he's smarter than everyone else even though he has a D-. He's also the kind of person to say "oh yeah my teacher loves me. I'm like his favorite student" but always gets into arguments with the teacher about stupid shit.

Marlo: Law. He wants to bring justice to the world and help people. He also believes that he can change lives and is frustrated that Pixis doesn't grade below a C- because Marlo believes that it's not fair. Also, he thinks that it's unprofessional that Pixis uses his own charges because it's again unprofessional. One time he got upset over Pixis having movie days on the last half of class on Thursdays and all class on Fridays, and again thinks it's unprofessional. He thinks he always deserves a B or above and talks to the teacher if he has anything lower than that. He has a B on the verge of a B-

Boris: Law. He likes how its an easy class and thinks the teacher is cool. Also is liked by Pixis so he has a better grade and does really well in class even though he doesnt pay attention much. He has an A- and Marlo's confused, upset, and dare I say a little insulted that Boris has an entire letter grade more than him.

Minky Momo ep 4

CONTEXT: I'm a big fan of Takeshi Shudo's writing. You prob know him from his work on episodes and movies in the early years of the Pokemon anime. He's my favorite author, though I won't be going into that here. This post is from me watching one of his other creations: Minky Momo. (Specifically ep 4, which he wrote from what I understand.) Originally this was a thread on twitter from March 18th 2022. (when I was sick.) I'm putting it here since I'm trying to fill my tumblr with stuff I find important.

I prob won't post my other first impressions, as those slowed down when I started feeling better. (I actually need to finish this series.) To be honest, this ep is something else, thus another reason why I wanna share it.

Also, this will be edited from its original form for anything I don't think need to be here in hindsight and spelling stuff.

Minky Momo ep 4 might be one of the most wild and maybe even sad eps Takeshi Shudo has written (to my knowledge.) Go watch, for real, I'm about to spoil it.

It's starts out fine. Momo's ma is threatening to divorce her dad, Momo DGAF about her grades, just normal shit for Shudo. Then we meet the character of the day, Ken. At first he's just some kid staring out the window during class. Momo is so curious about why he's looking out at the sky, she pokes him with a pencil getting them both in trouble (and failing their tests I think.) She keeps trying to hang out with him and he's all like "fuck off." (my words) For some reason another student knows that his dad is an archeologist and his ma "works late so he has to go home and watch the house after school."

Momo stalks him to his place and he's like fuck off. (again.) Like a week later his bird is sick and he comes into the vet Momo's earth "dad" runs and momo cures it. He asks her to, and I'm not joking to "see his room" tho not in THAT way I promise. Anyway, his house is full of ancient artifacts his dad "found" which includes a map of the fairy world Momo come from. (Honestly this is interesting stuff, I'ma skip it for pacing.) We get to the kids room and find out he's beyond "I'm feeding these crows because they're my only friends". His toys are his friends. Legit. Not making it up. This kid is so lonely that he's resorted to this shit.

Then to make his life worse, but actually in the end not, the one time Ken didn't watch the house his entire apartment catches on fire. He goes inside to save his bird and friends, a cop is like "fine, I'm not gonna go save you kid." and Ken is like an inch away from Death. Really. Ovi Momo tried to save him, but she wasn't gonna get to him in time, so she used her magic to make the toys come alive and (I think?) create a barrier around him until she could get to his room.

At the end of the episode he's like "I know they saved me and now they're from the dream world. Even if no one believes me" ( I can't remember what Momo's land is called rn sorry.) At least he's happy I guess. You know what's wild? This would be the episode most people would remember from the series. The poor abused child grappling with a slipping mental state due to isolation from his parents to protect their stolen property almost dies in a fire to save his imaginary friends. But instead, (unless there's something else I don't know about.) the truck-kun episode happened to be in the same series.

Sad dark plotlines mixed with the wildest of scenarios is one of the reasons I love Takeshi Shudo's work so much. This is peak his work. Damn, I don't even think Ken and Momo became friends. He's Fren exclusive to Mr. Peanut. (A lot of his friends seem to be from other IPs.) I won't forget Ken or this episode for a while.

As a quaker dad, I'm half tempted to show this to my vet at my next appointment come spring time and see what her response is. She's certified for avian care (as in, it's what she specializes in + did further schooling for)

I'm certain she's gonna go "wtf m8" at that vets recommendations bc I've NEVER seen any recommendations like that for ANY parrots. I both interact with a rescue + boarding place here on the reg who are extremely good with their diet plans for all the parrots there, and I constantly research stuff. Never have I seen any sort of recommendations like that. I'd genuinely ask for reasoning behind it because that's counterintuitive to like. Quaker care, let alone most parrot care. (Tho. Sweet potato as FlockTalk described Imma have to try, my dumdum will probs like it lol)

I agree w the comment in the notes/reblog about the biohazard waste varying location to location. (I'm in Canada and even for mammals I've not encountered that, nor heard of it!)

Tho the restraining fee?? That baffled me. Most I've heard of for something like that was if they had to sedate an animal that was real rowdy, like a cat or smth. A quaker you can wrap in a birdritto to do an examination no issue really?? Hell, one of my other birds is a bitch and a half to get hands on; vets pull out all the stops for them lol and it just results in the vet team laughing about it.

Hello Verm! Out of curiosity, for Mulan&ZYX, in all iterations of the college au (Oblivious, Alternate Universe-ity, and RT) what do you think Mulan majors and minors in? What is her friend group like? What kind of crazy shit does she get into with or without ZYX?

gonna answer both in one ask

i didn't read the poem nor was it a story my dad told me as a kid (compared to rotk in the same historical fiction vein), so the only thing i have is the disney movie lol

that 'au' was just a joke - i have no thoughts in having mulan in the college au. she cannot appear in dbd bc she's long dead at that time (the north and south dynasties era is about three centuries behind when dbd is set). she also would not be a cultivator, so there's no interaction there. hm. the only chance would be during imperial court shenanigans, if they were set during the same time period, post-mulan going to war (but then that would also make things weird for the cultivators; we'd never hear the end of how messy things are up in qinghe)

in college, mulan and zyx would share classes and get to know each other there (it has to be some random af class that is for general ed credits). she would not be part of the cucumber/airplane/banana trio. just another friend from a different friend group (mulan has her own social group), in which no one thinks have anything to do with one another (zyx and mulan can team up during beer pong during parties, or random school-hosted events if they spot one another nearby, just "hey get over here" "ok"). people have their own friend groups and that's just a thing, even if you're really good friends with someone

idk what she'd major in - there's not much to go on her likes/dislikes from the movies bc war takes precedence. hm... because she is very filial (to an extent) and family-oriented, likely whatever her parents thought was best for her that she was okay with, she is doing. common diaspora chinese daughter occupation: nursing (at least, that's what a lot of girls i grew up with did if they didn't run off towards liberal arts. or doctor. or dentist. or vet). it's more trouble than its worth to search up exactly how a nursing program works, so i imagine it's liike some amalgam of premed-trade program.

her friend group are the guys from the movies lol. they all went to the same high school, and now the same college. mulan prob tried to make new friends in uni, but found that she didn't mesh with the people in her program. zyx also doesn't have many friends in her major, let alone other girls, so the two felt like kindred spirits.

(i find that more believable than some "i'm not like other girls, i only make friends with guys" shit; she's only friends w her boys because all of each other's embarrassing teen moments and are holding each other hostage in the best way)

i don't think she's up to anything crazy in her spare time. she's down to party, but also down to stay home. if not for the demands of her class schedule, she'd be just as chaotic and gross as college zyx (whereas zyx has a demanding schedule but still acts disgusting)

lol there should be hangouts with the cucumber/airplane/banana trio for obliviousness (mulan does not know what shang's random compliments mean. because he vacillates being intense and focused on his own thing, and then awkwardly says something nice, and she's just ??? "are you having a stroke???") but no, no oblivious hangouts.

I first picked up "darkness exists to make light truly count" just under a week ago. Just this morning, I completed chapter 49 after an almost non-stop reading from beginning to end. I'd been burnt out of my love for Tangled for the better part of a year now, but your series about navigating through trauma, recovery, and even sibling parentification has me hooked in such a new exciting way. So thank you! I’m sorry if this sounds pressuring, but do you still have plans to continue the story?

hi there, no worries!! it warms my heart to know new people are still discovering that fic and enjoying it. i got somewhat burned out on tts too, particularly with how the last season went, but i still have so much love for the original movie and for the story i’ve created in that au, so i would really love to return to it someday!

vet school is a completely different beast from undergrad, and i’ve had to put a couple projects on the back burner. i’m having a hard enough time keeping up with my current oneshot series as it is. but once i’ve graduated, and navigated the crazy post-grad period as i’m sure it will be, i’m gonna do everything i can to return to a proper writing schedule.

and not out of any kind of obligation, rest assured. writing fanfic is something i truly enjoy and whenever i have to go on hiatus, i feel like something is missing from my life. i’ll prob start by picking back up my camp cretaceous series (if i don’t get to it sooner) and then darkness exists. i’ve still got big plans that i want to see through, but that story takes so much time and care to write and i want to do it properly.

but thanks so much for the kind message! it’s things like this that really reinforce my love for writing and get me excited to return to older projects in the future <3

Im from the uk and i got to a grammar school, im in sixth form rn and i rlly want to be a docter (dont even get me started on that rant). i have an offer to go to Cambridge (rllyyyyyyyy good un but not the best for medicine?) but manchester is also on the table (not as good uni but alright for medicine) and ofc other unis but woth my like smarts theyre probs my best offer

Oof, that's gonna be difficult bc im from the US and i have no clue how universities work in the UK or any other country for that matter 😬 when i was finishing high school and looking into colleges, i was looking for ones that would give me a decent education while also helping me prepare for the future. I want to be a vet, but i needed a bachelor's degree first in order to apply. Universities in the US are more likely to choose choose previous graduates when picking applicants for doctorate programs, so i chose a university that also had a vet school program so that i would be more likely to get in. I only applied to one college and i got accepted so i didn't really think about the rest 🤷‍♀️

Tbh i feel like you're stressing too much. Yes, this is a big decision, but there's no wrong answer and you will get an education either way. I know this is a very scary time in your life bc there's a lot of changes, but once the fear of change passes you'll feel so much lighter and realize that they're both good choices!!

Ig my advice would be to do more research into each university. Are you looking for a certain uni environment? Are you interested in clubs? What kinds of experiences did former students have with teachers and classes? Don't be afraid to get picky, you've got two universities that have already accepted you so you hold all the power now. Think about the little details that you want from a uni and look for those traits in your options

And the name is up to you!! You could choose an animal or fruit, even a color if you want :)
