“okay FIRST OF ALL-“

they were sent by allura to get some food for everyone and ended up arguing like a married couple in-front of the cashier and everyone else in line for 10 minutes straight (nobody complained, it was thoroughly entertaining and entertainment is something you need when ordering subway) needless to say they’re no longer allowed to buy food for anyone anymore AT LEAST without someone there to keep the peace and prevent them from embarrassing themselves like toddlers

keith teases lance about buying tuna when he ends up eating a meatball sub so who’s the loser now (jk i love him dearly), i refuse to believe he doesn’t have some wicked scar on his face like on his eye or smth because number 1, literally everyone in the universe wants to bloody kill him but also because its cool and he deserves to have some sort of scar okay- also keith with earrings just hits differently

why is lance wearing a purple earring? honestly i dont even know myself but it looks good- the bandage was intentional though, mf got it 10 minutes before they were sent to get food after trying to impress the cadets with his awful skateboarding skills (he made a fool out of himself but at least he made everyone laugh, win win ordeal iykwim)

the shading is god awful on this but i still love it because of the stupid subway background that i found on google not even 2 minutes of searching, ty toast for helping me w the background i wouldve stared at pinterest for 30 minutes questioning my existence without your guidance

VF Lance HCs

It's been a little bit since my last HC list, but I want to write down what I've got on my second favorite blorbo, also because I can't remember if I did one for him already

This got long, so for dash purposes the hcs are under the cut <3

He's an orphan > basically taking from i believe both the comics and V3D, Lance lived on a colony planet. One day a space pirate raid happened and killed everyone in the small village he lived in except for Lance, he did try to get home when he saw it happen but fire errupted and blocked him from getting back. It kinda turned out to be a good thing because any pirates on the ground completely missed him, almost like the fire had protected him

He was in the adoption system until joining the military > Since he was technically an Earth citizen, he was taken back to Earth to be put in the system, he bounced around homes a lot because of the trouble he'd cause or straight up because people thought he was too broken to be a good kid to care for. Eventually, at 16, the GA offered him a place and a way to get revenge for the raid, so he didn't even hesitate on taking up the offer

He's anti-military > Lance isn't stupid, he was in the system for a long time and because he bounced so often he learned to read people well. He knew the GA was taking advantage of him and his grief but he didn't care as long as he got what he wanted. Unrelated to him though he publicly hates the military because of how unnecessary it is most of the time and because the GG itself is a shit organization

He's part alien > Coming from a colony planet, it's no surprise more than just humans were there to settle. Lance doesn't know what species he's a part of but he knows it was far back enough that the family members he knew about didn't look like anything but human. Though he does have his suspisions even though he never says it out loud because his ear shape looks oh so familiar to one of the alien races he is in contact with a lot

He has a sixth sense > Now Lance doesn't really have tangible evidence of it but it's a hell of a coincidence for his gut to tell him something is wrong and be right about it every single time. Even the force (as cadets) didn't believe it at first until it kept happening, he has debated on opening a psychic stall to get easy cash.

He dyed his hair ginger > In my redesign of him I did give him ginger hair but I've decided to change that. Feeling like he had no control in his life during the 5 years working with Wade, he impulsively dyed his hair ginger. Hunk and Pidge laughed at him but it was pay back for laughing at Pidge's new haircut that made him look even shorter than before

He's a wine mom to the cadets > It's no secret he's tired of the cadets pulling stupid stunts, especially the kind of stunts HE did when he was only a few years older than them. Those kids drive him to alcoholism but goddamn does he worry about and love them a lot. He didn't want to bring the cadets into the fight so early but the only consolation he gets is that there's seasoned superiors to help them out compared to his own team being alone and forced to figure it out themselves

He's an alcoholic and nicotine dependent > Lance would rather not talk about when he started smoking, but he got started drink the same way every other teen who grew up to become an alcoholic did, underage drinking at parties. Eventually, he got so tired of the shit the academy would do to him that he drank and smoke as a release, which started him on his addition for both. Now being back on Arus, he still does both but he's been trying to quit smoking at least, mainly because of Pidge and Allura and now including the cadets. He and Keith still drink a lot together though so that isn't going away soon

He flirts for fun > Lance had originally flirted to hopefully start a relationship with someone or just to get lucky tbh, but eventually he got tired of it. Now he just flirts because he likes the reactions but he never intends to make anything seriously go down. The only people he ever actively flirts with are his team (sans cadets obvs) because they know he doesn't mean it and they even flirt back for the hell of it sometimes

He plays piano > this man SUCKS at every other instrument other than piano, he doesn't know what it is that makes him terrible at it but after he learned piano he's made sure not to get too rusty every once in a while. Sometimes he and Pidge do duets on the grand piano that the castle has in one of its rooms, it's one of their ways of bonding since Pidge is the only other person who knows how to play

Lance has a passion for teaching > He absolutely loves to teach, while working in the garrison as a flight instructor it was one of the few things he actualy enjoyed, the paperwork much less. He discovered this when first training Allura to be a pilot and member of the lion force, his nack for noticing the small things helped guide her to being the force of unruly ocean she is today. This is also the reason he's the cadets main mentor, he knows what to get done and even if the paperwork is boring the cirriculum is fitted to work with him as well

He has a slight pyrokinetic power > This only manifested after the pilots had died in their lions during their comet episode in dotu. The lions themselves had revived each of their pilots and with that, they all became forever tied to each other. A side affect of this is access to some mystical abilities, for Lance he accidentally sets things on fire, legitimately he doesn't know how to control it. Plus if he gets worked up about something, the immediate area around him has its temperature spike. He also has more access to the lions magical abilities but that's kinda unrelated as everyone else has that too.

I have a ton more that I both can and can't remember but I'll stop it at this, i'll probably make another and link this one to it

"Distracted"

"Pidge, focus!" Keith barked.

"Shit, right. Sorry guys!" Pidge righted the Green Lion. He shouldn't get distracted while flying his lion.

"Pidge, are you all right?" Allura asked. "You aren't one to get distracted during lion drills."

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine."

Pidge had gotten distracted by the castle guards taking advantage of the pleasant weather outside by doing their training in the courtyard. Normally, the training didn't even attract his attention, except for the Captain of the Guard, Nat. Even the slightest glimpse of the pretty brunette was enough to derail any conversation he was having, so catching sight of her leading her contingent of soldiers in a training session was more than enough to cause a distraction.

"Hey, Keith! Maybe we could cut this training session short," Lance's comment drew Pidge from his thoughts.

"What? Why should we?" Keith didn't like the idea in the slightest.

"To prevent Pidge from having to split his attention between two things he loves."

Even though Pidge knew Lance was teasing him in good spirits, he couldn't stop the blush from appearing on his face.

"I agree," Hunk chimed in. He knew his little buddy was head over heels for the Captain of the Guards, just like the Councilwoman was for the newest guard.

"It might be for the best, Keith. Besides, we have trained hard the past two days. Don't you think we deserve a small reprieve?" Allura asked. The princess was the only one who could persuade Keith to ease up on his workaholic tendencies.

Keith's pause in responding to Allura's question allowed Pidge a chance to gaze longer at Nat. He was so busy drinking in the sight of Nat sparring with the newest guard that he almost missed Keith's response.

"I suppose."

"Yes, and with that, I'm gone! Red out!" Lance sped off in the direction of the lava pits, to Red's resting place.

Keith sighed, shaking his head at his friend's actions. "Meet you guys back at the castle."

"I'm not going to make it back to the castle for a bit, Keith," Pidge admitted. "Hunk can just fill me in later."

"Oh, I'm sure we're not having a meeting, are we, Keith?" Allura's tone left no room for arguments.

"No, ma'am. No meetings," Keith agreed.

Pidge smirked at the interaction before landing his lion in the field near the courtyard. He used the viewscreen to zoom in on Nat, who was wiping her brow, having to take it easy on the newest guard, considering his heart condition.

Pidge knew he wanted to take Nat on a date soon, but he wanted to talk to Rachel Harmon soon and get her help with planning it as he didn't want to mess it up. He wanted everything to be perfect; Nat deserved no less. However, for now, he reclined in his seat, enjoying the view he got when the training resumed.

I do still take them and this one was a fun prompt to try. Hopefully this is what you wanted and I am sorry for taking a while to answer, it was a little difficult to try and make their relationship more Father and Son. Enjoy and give me another prompt if this is what you wanted or something totally different!

Lamina elbowed me in my side and though I swatted her away with a glare, I still gulped in fear of what the approaching steps could mean. I know we were not supposed to leave the castle but it wasn't our fault. What were we supposed to do? Just hope they wouldn't get killed? Without us, they might have lost and Arus could have been destroyed or taken under slavery again. Really, they should be thanking us, not about to lecture us about listening to orders. Will I say that? No, I'm not about to get killed by a Voltron Force member instead if an actual abd guy.

I feel Vince's worry glances but before I could comfort him, the Voltron Force comes storming in the hanger. I tighten my fist before I straighten my back and try to hide any tells that I was quivering in my boots.

"Daniel Lee McClain!"

I give up on pretending that I wasn't scared as I feel myself pale as my father shouts my full name. I feel eyes locked onto me but my main concern was the voice of my father.

I don't even have time to squeak out a timid 'Yes' before the red pilot grabs my arm and yanks me out of the room and away from worried eyes. The grip isn't too tight but it's not comfortable. We briskly walk to an empty room that he pulls me into before yanking his hand away from me and closing the door behind us before he turns back to me with crossed arms and pointed eyes. I fidget under his glare though I can see the fear and worry mixed in with the anger so I do understand where he is coming from but still. The glare could definitely be felt and it shouldn't be this hard after the last mission.

"What were you thinking?" He speaks lowly through gritted teeth.

I take a deep breath as I rub the back of my neck before quickly dropping it and look right to his eyes, "I was thinking that if I didn't do anything soon, my father and the rest of the Voltron Force might just die."

He takes a deep breath to calm himself, "Look Daniel, I know you want to help, I really do understand that, but you cannot risk your lives for some short time glory."

"At the time I entered the battlefield, I didn't care if I would get honored for almost dying, I was worried about you guys."

"That doesn't give you a right to disobey orders-"

"I can when you guys could get hurt of mortally injured-"

"And then what happens when you or one of the other cadets get hurt? That's on us."

"And if you get killed, I shouldn't feel bad that I stayed here like a coward as I lost another parent?"

"If you are safe, then yes."

I growl as I look up at my dad. I know we bicker all the time but I can't image a life where I can't see him or know that he's alive. I won't be able to live with the guilt that because of me I lost another parent and this time I could have done something about it.

"I would not have changed anything if we had a do over," I take a deep breath, "If I had to choose between a lecture from you and the rest of the Voltron Force or your death then I will gladly have you yell at me for hours on end because I know I did my job and kept you alive. If I can't keep a person I love and care alive then how can I protect the rest of the universe?"

Dad sighs as he looks at the ground. We stay silent before I hear him curse under his breath and walk toward me. He grabs me by the shoulder and pull me into a hug where if I wanted to get out I wouldn't be able to though I really don't want to let go. I strengthen my grip on his jacket as I feel my eyes sting as the roller coaster of emotions goes through it's final loop.

"You scared me out there, kid," I hear him speak through my hair, his voice muffled but I could hear the emotion transparent in his voice.

"Not as much as you scared me," and we stand there in the room just holding onto each other and reassuring ourselves that the only family left is still alive...

...And that's when Vince runs in, out of breath, and starts rapidly speaking as if his life depends on it, "Please don't kill Daniel. He wasn't the only one who went to help you guys and it was only to save your lives so we wouldn't have to take the mantel of Voltron so quickly. Really, we need Daniel alive because who would take over either the red lion or the black lion? He's useful and I know he led us to go against your orders but if you punish him you will have to punish all of us and let me tell you-"

"Vince, buddy, calm down and breathe," I extract myself from my father and attempt to calm Vince down, "He isn't going to kill me though he might punish all of us that might wish we weren't born to begin with."

And that's when more footsteps come racing toward our direction, Hunk barely squeaking in before the rest and he is already rambling, "We know how scared you were, I mean we all were, but don't kill your only son. He's vital and you won't be able to live with the guilt for long-"

This time Lance stops Hunk's rambling, "I'm not going to kill the kid, jeez. Why do all of you guys think that?"

By now the rest of the Voltron Force is in the room and all looked slightly worried though with each second ticked by their faces become more amused. Pidge speaks up, "You were telling us interesting ways you were going to wish he was never born."

I send a shocked look toward the red paladin but he only smirks, "He's needs to be alive for that."

And I silently groan as my shoulders slump because of just thinking about the future punishments made me wish I was never born. But that's fine, at least he was alive and nobody was severely injured-

"Starting with cleaning the whole castle."

"Dad!"

I wanted some Mama Pidge AU. And Realities Collide. And I keep thinking of VF Lance not liking the idea of Katie, a literal kid, raising a kid herself. And the fact that that kid is actually Galra/Drule. But. Katie doesn't care. She loves her son and she won't let anyone ruin that or insult him. Meanwhile, Darrell's just amazed by how big of a bump his mama caused on the commander's head. It is impressive.
