It’s rare that Sotiria feels relaxed. She’s pretty sure there’s an anxiety disorder she has to blame for that, but admitting out loud that she has a problem has never been her strong suit. 

Sitting in the parlor car of the Astral Express feels peaceful though. Even when the express isn’t moving there’s a subtle movement to the car. It’s barely noticeable unless you know what you’re looking for, but Sotiria’s been on the express for a while now. She knows the way it moves and shifts, how it’s never completely still.

Sotiria has never been one to get philosophical. She did a philosophy class back in college, and everyone in it was unbearably pretentious. But looking out on the universe, it’s hard not to think about her place in the grand scheme of existence. 

She’s a long way from home, and that’s a good thing. Sotiria had grown up looking at the stars from a telescope. The thought of one day getting to actually be amongst them was unimaginable, though, more a fantasy that she’d hold to help go to sleep than something she thought was actually possible. 

Sotiria has come a long way. She’s gotten to help a lot of people too. That’s part of being with the Nameless. And it’s never what she would have expected she’d be doing, but it’s exciting. She gets to see more than she ever would have at home, do more than she ever would have been able to while working in some office.

Everything looks so small from here. Ships and planets are like specks hidden throughout the cosmos. Sotiria knows that even being part of the Nameless, she’s just as small as everything else. But for once the thought of being small doesn’t seem like a bad thing. There are so many beautiful, amazing small things out there. To count herself among them is an honor. 

“What are you thinking about?”

Himeko’s voice draws Sotiria out of her thoughts. 

Sotiria hopes that Himeko hasn’t been here long. She’s not very good at this relationship thing— she never had much experience with romance. But she’s pretty sure that ignoring her girlfriend for minutes as she stares out literally into space wouldn’t be very positively received.

“I don’t know. I guess just what we’re doing,” Sotiria admits.

“Hmm.” Himeko comes to stand next to Sotiria, looking out to the stars herself. “I do that sometimes too. It’s easy to let your mind wander when you’re looking out into the stars.”

Sotiria nods. There’s something about the vastness of space that makes it easier to get lost in your thoughts. It’s somehow both dark and light, with rich dark blues and purples melding together, dotted with bright bits of stars and distant planets.

“It’s beautiful,” Sotiria says. She glances at Himeko out of the corner of her eyes. She’s pretty sure this is when she’s supposed to flirt. “And, uh, so are you.”

Himeko laughs, covering her mouth with one hand. Sotiria thinks she’s adorable when she does that, the corners of her eyes crinkling. 

“So are you,” Himeko says. She brushes her hand against Sotiria’s. “If you’d like I could get us some coffee?”

Sotiria is pretty sure that she’s in love with Himeko. She’s not quite ready to verbalize it, but that’s the only way she can think to describe the feelings she has for her.

What she doesn’t love is Himeko’s coffee. As much as she loves making it— and Sotiria does usually love coffee— there’s always something that’s off about it. She’s heard it described as being brown sludge before, and while she doesn’t think it’s that bad, it certainly isn’t good either. 

“I appreciate the offer but I think I’ll pass for now,” Sotiria says. She has a better stomach for Himeko’s coffee than most, but even she has her limits. 

“If you say so,” Himeko replies. 

“But thanks,” Sotiria says. One day she’ll have to tell Himeko the truth about how awful her coffee is to anyone with a decent palate, but that won’t be today. 

“You could thank me in another way,” Himeko says, a teasing lilt to her voice and sparkle in her eyes. 

Sotiria knows exactly what she’s suggesting. “Alright, princess.”

She has to lean forward a little to get to Himeko, placing a soft kiss on her lips. It’s short but sweet. Another quick reminder that even in all the smallness of the universe, there can be beautiful, wonderful things. 

Himeko smiles, wrapping her arms loosely around Sotiria’s waist. “That was a very good thank you.”

“Well, you deserve nothing but the best,” Sotiria states, and she can’t help but smile too. Himeko tends to have that effect on her. 

“You can be quite the sweet talker,” Himeko comments.

Sotiria rolls her eyes. “You’re the only person who would ever think that.”

“Hmm. Maybe I’m just special.”

Himeko is special to Sotiria, far more than she knows. Words have never come easily to her, and while she does her best to show Himeko just how much she cares, it never feels like quite enough. Words have never been her strong suit.

So instead Sotiria tries to show Himeko she cares through the little things. Because if there’s one thing that she’s learned from her time on the express, it’s that even the smallest things can have an impact.

I'm sure you already know what this is about given what time of the year it is. Strange, isn't it? Me writing you a letter for Valentine's day?

…Maybe not so much. Not anymore.

Still, this letter's more of an invite than anything. Why don't we stay in, order takeout, and spend the time watching movies together? I got a cake for us to share afterwards.

Then tomorrow, we'll hit the stores when everything goes on sale and get all the chocolates we want.

i need to talk about rei sakuma.

so- i'm very aggressive at times. i threaten to fight people (even though i'm not good at fighting), and i offer to fight things that bother my friends (inanimate objects included). mostly because i don't know how to express emotions other than Anger and Sadness.

rei is such a huge comfort character to me (i am in need of positive male figures in my life. help) so i imagine him being a huge comfort in these times. he'd pat my head saying it's okay to cry ,,, and calm me down when i get too angry at things.. .

"It was how sweet she is, her brown hair, brown eyes and her smile when I first met her.”

"The first thing I learned from her is patience, when I wanted something in life. Also never let a day go by without telling her I love her. Like a simple text that it takes to lift her up and brighten her day is a message from me.”

Thank you so much <3 Answering this for Caduceus and Belladonna since I want to intro them properly on this blog! Spit it out - how long did it take for your f/o to confess to you (or vice versa)? was it sudden? drawn out? humorous? serious?

Cad: Hmmm... I'd imagine it was kind of a natural progression that ultimately resulted in a kind of explosive reveal. Caduceus is not very open about his emotions, so he was somewhat...offput, when he realized how close he was getting to me. It had been hard enough to accept how much he'd grown to trust me as a friend, admitting that it went further than that was terrifying to him. It was after a job, a big fight that we had to struggle to win, and I think he fully expected it to be met with rejection. Of course, I did not do that and instead told him that the sentiment was returned tenfold. <3

Belladonna: He'd apparently been harboring feelings for me for some time! And y'know, that was likely mutual. He wasn't sure if mine and Cad's relationship was open to a third, and when we first met he was in such a god awful situation that there was no way he could take on a genuine romantic relationship. It wasn't until he got out of that and began to really take control of his life that he started seeing if boundaries could be moved. It didn't start explicitly romantic but...the line moved, bit by bit, until we finally broached the idea to him. He liked it :)

Welcome - what is you and your f/o’s living space like? do you have a house or apartment? are you on the run? what defines ‘home’ for you two(or three)?

True for Both: Well, it was originally Cad's place. He'd lived there for some time, and sort of unofficially ran his hit-for-hire business out of the front part of the building. When I joined in on the business, he originally just kind of holed me up in a spare room he had no use for, until we got close enough that I moved into his space. Then Belladonna had a similar process! Desperately needed a place to go, so we set him up in the spare room, and then things just went from there. The house isn't anything super fancy. It's got a decent kitchen, and it's pretty roomy- it has to be, considering who lives in it, but it's very comfortable for us. We share a bedroom with a big old bed, and it's usually not untidy but definitely lived in. There's a hammock in the top corner of the bedroom because sometimes Cad likes to hang out up there, we've got a TV room, decor is very eclectic because of the collision of tastes...but it's home. Even if the front of house is all business.

Surfacing - when did your f/o realize they were in love with you? did they try to avoid the feelings or push them down?

Cad: I mentioned this before but, for him it was something he knew about ages before he actually accepted it. It had been a long time since he'd felt something genuinely romantic with anyone, and so many things over the years had turned out badly, he just...tried really, really hard to ignore it until he couldn't. I wish he'd told me sooner so I could have loved on him longer, but I understand he wasn't ready.

Belladonna: Bella was probably More willing to accept his feelings than Cad, from what I can tell. He knew how he felt, he knew it was romantic for the both of us, he knew he wanted to be part of things...but at the time we were getting to be close, he wasn't in any kind of place to enter a relationship like that. So it was just kind of this...unspoken thing. We all felt it, but none of us pushed any action until his situation massively improved. Only after that did we start letting things grow, and it was a very comfortable progression from there.

I'm so glad I finally get to show y'all my boyssss properly because I'm obsessed with them.

Today is my one year anniversary with Vash! There's a lot of thoughts in my head about this day. I feel so happy that I've been calling him mine for a year. It's funny to think back that I had known about him well before 2023 but denied that I felt anything for him.

And now to think I can never go a day without thinking about him, how much he's changed my life and truly brought my happiness in a time where I was struggling my hardest. He's my soulmate, the one for me and there's no other plant person I'd rather spend all my days with than him.

mikachi fic #02 (lie) except it kind of reads like those sad facebook posts where after a couple argues, one of them dies and then the other regrets it. but um its ok

its never usually this quiet between them.

though they were laying beside each other as usual, with neither really saying anything to suggest some sort of unhappiness, there was an air of malaise that was hard to miss, and even harder for ajax to ignore.

so he opts to confront it directly.

“are you okay?” he’s trying to be lighthearted in the way that he approaches it, to cover up his own feeling of awkwardness. “not still mad at me, are you?”

finding no point in lying about it, mika just shakes her head, choosing to be as vague as possible with her answer. at least, until he questions her further. “n - no, i’m not. i’m just... thinking about some stuff, i guess.”

partially relieved, ajax relaxes a bit better, enough to inch a little closer. “okay, fine— if not that, then.. what’s wrong?” he turns to face her, who’s looking up at the ceiling.

“i just get worried sometimes.” mika admits, and though she’s a bit embarrassed to do so, she rather this than lie. “when you’re away, doing whatever. about your safety and — um, i don’t really know how to say it, but i hate that i can’t like, guarantee anything, y’know.”

“oh, mika.” he pauses, wondering if that was really all there was to it. he knows she’s trying not to delve too deeply into it, but he just can’t help but want to pry. ajax reaches for her hand, holding it in both of his. “you... worry for nothing. so long as you’re still here, and with me, i’ll come back to you. always.”

“don’t you trust me?” he kisses it gently, an act of reassurance. “i’ll return everytime.”

she blushes a light pink, though still has her own doubts. mika sits up, but he continues to hold onto her hand. “i mean, yeah, but... its not just that.”

“i hate... that there’s so much i still don’t know about you. all those things you’re involved in, the things you’re getting up to. i - i mean, i’m not dying to know about it or anything, but sometimes i just wish you weren’t—”

he interrupts, “hey, hey, it’s fine, i know. and i’m sorry, i wish i could be more open about those things too,” ajax moves closer, “but its, um, complicated. i think it’d be best for you to not be involved anyways. at least, not any further than dating a harbinger.” he slips in a joke in hopes of lightening the mood, but it doesn’t seem to uplift her much.

still a little gloomy, mika sighs. “...can i ask you something?” and he squeezes her hand as a ‘yes’, slightly nervous in his anticipation.

“am i your first priority?”

its a selfish question, she thinks, knows, but she can’t help herself from wondering, and when he hesitates to reply, that’s enough of an answer on its own. “nevermind, i guess its kinda stupid i even ask.”

“i know that when it comes down to it, you’ll always hold the tsaritsa’s aspirations above all else, won’t you?”

“mika—”

“forget it, its not your fault.” she assures, not really having it in herself to be mad at him right now either. the last thing she wanted to do was upset him too. “but i don’t want to continue this conversation anymore, at least not right now. so if you don’t mind..” slipping out of childe’s grasp, she gets up and out of bed.

“wait, where are you going?”

wanting to clear up what was probably his immediate concern, mika swats her hand. “i just need some time to myself.”

“okay.” childe, though reassured, can’t help but sigh, realizing he can’t rebut what they already both know to be the truth, and can only watch as she leaves.

8. What's your favorite thing to do with Wolf Spider?

"Hm... To be honest, it's when the two of us aren't busy and we can go back home and relax together. It's not often we get a free moment. Being Spider-Man is a job with a lot of sacrifices, including your free time. But whenever the two of us are alone together, No work, no other Spider-People, it's nice. Usually Wolf will put on whatever movie or tv show or Youtube video he's been trying to catch up on, and very rarely do I ever know what it is. But that's fine, because my favorite part of it all is when Wolf explains it to me."

15. What’s something about Wolf Spider that surprised you when you first started to get to know them more?

"Believe it or not, but Wolf wasn't exactly friendly the first time we met. But he got nicer over time. Closed off and a little cold still, sure. But he has a good heart underneath all of that ice. Guess that was a little surprising."

21. Quick! Without thinking about it too hard, what’s your favorite thing about Wolf Spider?

"Oh, well... He's small. He's like a puppy, so it's really cute. Listen, I can't help it. His puppy dog eyes and wagging tail are his charm points and he knows it. That's why he uses them against me whenever he wants something."
