Not sure how much of a "hot" take this one is, but Whitewing should have been the fourth member of the Three over Firestar.

She'd have also been a GREAT choice for deputy in the latest arc.

I also think Birchfall and Ivypool training in the Dark Forest should have been more of a monumental thing for her to forgive. That could have been a stellar sideplot.

(@badgerstep has an absolutely STELLAR oneshot about that, actually. it's break it to me, break it to me softly and I consider it basically canon).

All in all, she's been shafted by the narrative at every step of the way. Less pronounced than cats like Leafpool or Squirrelflight but she deserves more.

3/5 stars. pretty neutral tbh.

for songs, i think maybe if i killed someone for you by alec benjamin and hold me like a grudge by fall out boy.

as an aesthetic, i think they'd be gothic academia. literature, poetry, arts, etc, but also skulls, headstones, and blood. this aesthetic is about finding beauty in the darkest possible places, so i think it fits them well.

headcanons--

i think hawk's noticeably taller than ash. he smugly holds this over him, and ash absolutely hates it. big dumb boyfriend poking at him.

ash is the more impulsive and obsessive of the two. he gets jealous easily and plots ways to murder both hawk and whoever he thinks has stolen hawk's attention. hawk thinks it's adorable.

Should hollyleaf have had a power? Oooo good question oh I'm torn here. On one hand its very juicy that she didn't and I like that. On the other, I love aus where she has a mental power thats very subtle those are always fun. Hmmm cant actually answer I like it both ways!

What are your opinions on Mistyfoot for wc bingo?

I like her as a character, but I think more could have been done with her! Her relationship with her mother being explored after the 3rd book coulda been very interesting and I feel like more parallels could have been drawn later? I'm a bit fuzzy on her past book 6 arc 1 tho so forgive me if i missed something

Basically I care her muchly also my headcanons rule i think she's bi and sapphic and also adores her kids will kill for them and also nonbiney (mistyfoot they/she/it real...)

4 - brokenstar (on this list of ddd!au characters)

something I’d like to explore in the au with Brokenstar is that he was killed twice by the same cat, something he has in common with Hawkfrost. (both family members, too!)

a lot of dark forest cats including Brokenstar show up at the duplex at the same time, and they go their separate ways for awhile. Brokenstar tries to maintain command over the dark forest fighters and trainees, but it’s no use. there’s no power to be had when there’s no battle to be won, not the way he sees it.

(also, I’m thinking about how eventually changing his name back to Brokentail, and then to something else entirely because Broken- is a pretty brutal prefix. and he’s a pretty brutal cat, but the idea that he was born evil really doesn’t sit with me. not sure yet what his name would be though.)

none of the novellas are good and the super editions are usually just unnecessary retreads

I only say "agree" with this one rather than "strongly agree" because I think some of the novellas are pretty solid. I enjoyed Daisy's Kin and Ravenpaw's Farewell. By and large, though, I'm not a fan of them no. I think they're the best when they flesh out a side character and aren't really needed to advance the plot along.

I liked the Super Editions more when I was a kid. SkyClan's Destiny was solid, and I like Crookedstar's Promise. Back when they only covered characters who were fairly integral but we didn't know a ton about (so the leaders as of TPB), they were pretty good. Now that we're getting Super Editions about every random guy who shows up in a book, they're getting pretty repetitive and pretty much only serve to wreck the timeline further.

Darkstripe for the wc opinion bingo?

I enjoy Darkstripe as a written character! Dickish, to be sure, but he is also a bin of wasted potential due to how the Erins ignored his relation to Graystripe (them being half-siblings could have made for a real interesting dynamic) and stuff like that.
