Professor Utonium 🥼 — Are there any scientific inventions or discoveries that fascinate you?
You heard of girlies telling true crime like tea so let me talk about antibiotics like them too 💅
Radioactive is cool but the history of Penicillin (the first pure Antibiotic) is one of my fav. Im just gonna write a very simplified version of it after rereading it just now lol
There's reports of usage of mold to treat infection way way back before the 20th century especially in ancient greek and egypt but the creation of the first fully synthetic and commercialise antibiotic only started during the early 40s so like if you get any bacterial infection from uhhh lets say a cut on your pinky, you rubbed your eyes with a dirty hand, you look as someone at the wrong time, you had a hanky panky with Patty at the back alley or maybe you just exist, you can die. Existing antimicrobial meds like sulfanilamide even the strongest one sometimes doesnt work with diseases that in modern days we can simply heal with just 1 course of antibiotics.
Anyway how we discovered Penicillin was purely by accident when back in 1929, Alexander Fleming discovered one of the strep strain he was cultivating in his petri dish that he left for a few days for a holiday seemed off. Upon closer inspection he realized there's a strain of mold that grew on the dish and noticed that the bacteria didnt grow around the mold ring so he conducted a few experiments to comfirm his discovery and ended up publishing a paper about his findings. Despite this though no one wanted to do anything about it. They read the paper and just left him on seen and Fleming wasnt a chemist, he's a biologist, the lowest of the low for the nerds back in the 19th century because all the cool kids major in physics and studying radioactive and actively promoting radioactive quackery while their jaw is rotting off from the radium exposure so he couldn't do anything about it and he just let his research in the back burner until like 10 years later a group of nerds at Oxford found his paper and like "wait this man was actually cooking" and decided to take the challenge to purify this mold juice and see if they can turn it into an antibiotic.
In early stages of their research, there didnt use like a big steep container to 'procure' the mold but instead uses a narrow container with large surface area, think of casserole dish to get the juice because the mold only grows on the surface of the liquid instead of inside the liquid. Purifying isn't easy, at least 2000 litres of purified Penicillin juice were needed just to make antibiotics enough to treat 1 person so 2 of the big nerds, Howard Florey and Norman Heatley flew to the US and asked if anyone could mass produce it and then like jump to idk pages of wikipedia page later it was being mass produced in the early 40s during the peak of WW2 (there's too many conflict happens during this and the girls are fighting over who should be credited for it and I am not into some nerd drama rn)
Here's some interesting facts that I found out while reading:
- During the early stages of mass production, they still haven't produce enough Penicillin for the people they're treating and running clinical trials and they discovered that patients who received Penicillin shot also excreted those antibiotics back into their urine. At least 70% of the Penicillin they got is stored in the balls floating in the urine so they took the pee, crystallised them and extracted the Penicillin from the pee crystals so at least half of the people who gets the antibiotics shot got them from some guy's pee.
- When Florey and Heatley planned to fly to the US, they feared they couldn't bring the mold in a small glass tube without it being missing so they laced the pocket of their coat with the mold.
- Winston Churchill almost died from Pneumonia back in 1943 but fully cured by Sulfanilamide but the tabloid at time said Penicillin cured him simoly because they wanted to instill confidence to the public about antibiotic
- During Clinal Trials, they tested on animals for toxicity but they didn't tested it on guinea pigs. If they tested it on guinea pigs there's a possibility that antibiotics is not what we have now or didn't exist at all since Penicillin is toxic to guinea pigs
Anyway cut to decades later we abused the fuck out of antibiotics and there's rising cases of antibiotics resistant bacteria. It is estimated that we are 5 years away from creating antibiotics that works on the bacteria that resist antibiotics in the present. So the next time if you are prescribed with antibiotics, FINISH THEM ACCORDING TO DR'S ORDERS!!!

2022 / 32
Aperçu of the Week:
"There are things I don't even talk about with myself."
(Konrad Adenauer, first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany)
Bad News of the Week:
The hunger crisis is currently overshadowed by many other crises. Yet it is worse than ever. One in ten people on this planet suffers from insufficient nutrition, according to the latest UN food report. However, 3.1 billion people cannot afford a healthy diet anyway - they are happy having something to eat at all. Children are the worst off: In 2020, more than one-fifth of all young children were documented to have growth disorders as a result of malnutrition. That was before the start of the current crisis apocalypse. Right now, 15,000 girls and boys die - every day!
According to the former German Minister of Development Gerd Müller a scandal. Because it costs just 50 cents a day to feed a refugee child in Africa or Yemen. But "no one gets fed by talking." Specifically, Müller proposes a UN emergency aid fund. Because international research results show: With about 40 billion euros extra per year, hunger can be defeated by 2030 - that was actually the goal of the United Nations. And that's just about as much as Elon Musk wanted to spend on Twitter. Or almost as much as the world's largest oil producer, Saudi Aramco, made profit in 2021.
So it can't be the amount. It's the lack of will on the part of the decision-makers. Stupidly, no child's life saved in the third world has an impact on the stock market price. Or on the next election forecast. We should all be ashamed of ourselves.
Good News of the Week:
"The lie as a business model" headlines an article in the Tagesschau last week about the bizarre workings of Infowars founder Alex Jones. Who has demonstrably already cost human lives with his wild conspiracy theories. For example, in 2016, a young man grabbed a gun in a Washington DC pizzeria and started shooting. Why? Because he believes that in the basement of the pizzeria children are being kept as sex slaves under the control of Hillary Clinton. "Pizzagate" was a hit on the charts of Fake news and hate speech that was and is spread by Alex Jones.
For him, 9/11 had been a kind of awakening to what the Deep State and especially the Democrats were capable of - because "with 98 percent probability" it was a "government-controlled bombing of the World Trade Center." From there on, Jones got rich. With his "info channel" and plenty of tawdry merchandise ranging from inflammatory writings to dubious vitamin pills. And it went blow by blow: Global warming is a hoax made up by the World Bank to control the world economy through a carbon tax. Michele Obama is transgender and there are so many gays because they would be affected by chemicals in the water to not be able to have children. Al-Qaeda is funded by George Soros. Elites are working worldwide to overthrow societies to install dictatorships, vulgo the "New Global World Order". Hurricane Irma was "geo-engineered" and the droughts in California would not exist. Barack Obama created the terrorist organization "Islamic State." Corona vaccines don't work. And so on.
But his top theme in different variations is always: U.S. Democrats stage attacks to declare martial law and then establish a dictature. After all, the Boston Marathon bombing had to have been faked by the FBI. The Robb Elementary School shooting was staged too. So it is only logical that Jones also claimed that the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School never took place. But in doing so, he apparently miscalculated. Because brave parents were tired of being terrorized by Jones supporters after the tragic loss of their child, they should stop lying about ever having had a six-year-old son. And moved to court.
And that did its job. The jury in Texas (!) sentenced Alex Jones to $4 million in compensatory penalty - and another $45 million in "punitive damages." This is the first time Jones has been held liable for his personal info war. More important than the payments for pain and suffering, however, is the clear signal sent by this verdict: False claims about real people cause real damage. For which one will be held accountable. Pay attention, Tucker Carlson: you may be next!
Personal happy moment of the week:
I work almost exclusively in my home office. Which is good. Against Corona, against the obligation to wear pants and against lost time on the way to the office. But once a week I am in the office to meet colleagues and to focus all personal meetings on this day. And it's always Monday. Usually we say goodbye then with "See you next Monday!". But this week a colleague asked me, "Are you coming next week on Tuesday then, or not at all?". I must have looked at him questioningly, because he added: "Because Monday is a holiday...". I had completely overlooked that. This may be due to the fact that "Assumption day" is not a public holiday everywhere. But only in communities with a predominantly Catholic population. Which is the case in Munich. And who am I, would I not observe a law? Or risk my salvation? So I'm going to sleep in this Monday. And over the first coffee, think of the colleagues at other locations who don't have that day off. And of the colleague who reminded me just in time. Thank you, Patrick!
I couldn't care less...
...that former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder survived a expulsion process from his Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) because he could not be proven to have "violated the party's statutes." Either way, with his clinging to buddy Vladimir Putin, whom he had once called a "flawless democrat" in office, he has disqualified himself as an elder statesman. And with the lucrative supervisory board positions at Nord Stream and Rosneft, which he owes to Vlad, he has trampled on the ideals of Willy Brandt - whose "new East politics" against the Hallstein Doctrine laid the foundation for a cold war that never got hot. Whether you have a party card or not: Gerd, you're out!
As I write this...
...I am sitting on the train to Augsburg. Germany's second oldest city - yes, it was formally founded by Roman emperor Augustus - just an hour away from Munich. My wife and I benefit from the "9-Euro-Ticket" (for a whole month of public transport, unfortunately the last time this month) and will spend a nice day with culture and sightseeing. And at an excellent burger joint, where I have already reserved a table last week to be on the safe side. Nice.
Post Scriptum:
Leaving the comfort zone. What used to be considered an art to jumping over one's own shadow, will become a duty. That's what Klaus Müller, as head of the Federal Network Agency the master of gas distribution in Germany, tells us. Who will not have enough to distribute in the coming winter. Without 20% savings in private households, it won't work. Since the alternative would be a huge loss of jobs and prosperity if industries had to shut down for lack of gas. I sincerely hope that insight and goodwill will be enough to overcome this bottleneck. And that in the process, everyone becomes a little more thoughtful about what kind of comfort really justifies what kind of dependency.

The Completely Unnecessary News Analysis

Equal Rights Except For Queers
& Our New National Anti-abortion Game
Here in the family values state, it's nice to know our congressmen are standing up for religious freedom, which means, of course, that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people can't have the same rights as others. Our beloved and sacrosanct Republican congressmen Rob Bishop, John Curtis and Chris Stewart voted against evil legislation, called the Equity Act, that would prohibit discrimination against LGBT people in housing, financing, education and the work place. Only mean, old Democrat Ben McAdams voted in favor of the civil rights measure. Many religious people, including the big wigs at the Mormon Church, came out strongly against the legislation because... well, you know why. Fortunately, Chris Stewart was on hand to explain why LGBT people can't have equal rights: “Yes, of course we should treat each other with fairness and with dignity,” he said. But “people of faith, who are also good people, deserve to have the right to express their sincerely held religious beliefs without compulsion from the federal government...” Dam faggots and weirdos. Remember, the Republican Party is the party of Lincoln — and he never said queers should have equal rights.
Springtime for Trump, Winter for Iran
OK, lookit, the Trump administration would never raise a ruckus with Iran just to take our minds off the Mueller investigation. Of course not. Taunting the Iranians with a little saber-rattling is a matter of national security. Just ask John Bolton, our warm and fuzzy national security advisor. Here's the thing: Since we've done so well in Afghanistan and Iraq, maybe it's time to bomb Iran. Everybody knows those ayatollah guys are bad news. Like Trump said, it's time for a little regime change. So, what to do? We've already pulled out of the multilateral nuclear agreement we struck with Iran along with the Europeans. And we've already called a boycott of Iranian oil exports. What's left? Ah, that's it, we'll send a carrier battle group to the Arabian Sea and scare the bejesus out of them. Then, the ayatollahs will begin preparing their defense mechanisms and our intelligence network will detect their aggression and we'll have to neutralize the threat. Remember when our Commander-In-Chief called Kim Jung Un “Rocket Man” and promised to blow North Korea to kingdom come? Well, as Trump said in his State of the Union address: “I saved us from a world war.” OK, so here's the game plan: create a crisis, then back off and declare victory. But remember what Yogi Berra said: “You’ve got to be very careful if you don’t know where you're going, because you might not get there.”
The All New Anti-abortion Game
It's time to play that exciting new socio-political game, Our Abortion Law Is More Draconian Than Yours. It's a game that tests the Shakespearean skills of white, male Republican legislators from state to state. One red state passes a law that says no abortions after a heartbeat is perceived. Another Republican-dominated legislature says doctors will go to prison for 99 years. Another holds that 12-year-old girls who are raped by their uncles must give birth — but can't have food stamps. And yet another proclaims that a zygote is a person with First Amendment rights. And Second Amendment rights, too — don't forget the guns. The anti-abortion movement is spreading like a fever. Right to lifers are selling T shirts on Amazon that say things like, “Quit Killing Embryos” and “Sperm Are People, Too.” The excitement is palpable. Which laws will make it to the federal court of appeals? And which one will get all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court? The grand prize? Overturning Roe v. Wade and the end to women's reproductive rights. As Yogi Berra once said: “The future ain't what it used to be.”
Stupid Kids And Free Markets
Young people who show an interest in socialism don't understand how lucky they are to be living in a capitalist society. So said Utah Gov. Gary Herbert at the 13th annual Utah Economic Summit. “Socialism doesn't lead to shared prosperity,” the guv explained. That's right, young people just don't understand the free-market system, where all the wealth goes to the top 1 percent. Just because household spending power has remained flat since 1980, is no reason to whine. Sure, education and medical expenses have skyrocketed and for many housing is just too expensive. But that can easily be overcome if they'd just get off their duffs. “They worry that free market capitalism is failing them and that it's a win-lose system,” Herbert surmised. Man, this guy is practically clairvoyant. Since 1980 the top 1 percent has been gaining wealth at such a high rate that it has skewed data to reflect a healthy economy. As the keynote speaker, Carly Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, said, “Everything is great.” Yep, from the rarified atmosphere at the Utah Economic Summit, everything is coming up roses. What are those young people thinking? And where is Yogi Berra when you need him?
Post Script: Pinch yourself — it's true, a Republican has called Attorney General William Barr's misrepresentation of the Mueller report for what it really is: Bullshit. Michigan Congressman Justin Amash said Trump's actions constituted obstruction of justice and are impeachable. WTF. Doesn't he know that telling the truth is anti-Trump. Don't look for his Republican colleagues to back him up. And don't be surprised if we soon see Amash's head on a pike in front of the White House.
Well, that just about does it for another strange week here at Smart Bomb, where the staff has taken to reading Alice in Wonderland and has gone through the looking glass for a reality check. As Alice said to the Mad Hatter: “It would be so nice if something would make sense for a change.” For Wilson and the band, it's all familiar territory. OK guys, take us out with a little theme music to go with our crazy times:
One pill makes you larger / And one pill makes you small / And the ones that mother gives you / Don't do anything at all / Go ask Alice / I think she'll know / When logic and proportion / Have fallen sloppy dead / And the white knight is talking backwards / And the Red Queen's "off with her head!" / Remember what the doormouse said...

The Time for Revolution; begins with a completely different approach (to Everything)
The definition given by the Oxford Dictionary for Perception is "the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses". Now how much of an impact does this concept of in taking information, much through the subconscious within which is constantly taking internalizing information in ways unable to be consciously recognized in in one's conscience. This plays a bigger role in how one grows to perceive the world. With many life changes and experiences along the timeline of one's life, the individual will process as much as one can possibly formulate, organize, and consciously utilize as tools for protection-- for we are living in a society that feeds us fear to comply, remain uninformed, and just walk on. It is really one's choice to believe most everything they are told and stick to it like a sickly codependent relationship between only one's self. What this does is perpetually and persistently isolates and, although an extreme word, truly alienates some people from the outer world of social interactions and spreading positivity and a helping hand to another who needs it. So, I think I'll begin around here.
I speak from my experience of course, so I will say a few words on the American government. A place I've seemed to stay dormant and waiting. Not sure for what…maybe the second coming of our Lord and Savior, though I'm not religious, instead I think, as I believe we all are, "Spiritual beings on a human journey". I like this because it doesn't separate, segregate or divide. As we are all one species, locations and different forms of faith should be understood, truly, simply, with maybe a little empathy: the why of it all. Simply the mere fact that cultural differences, many a time, can make the citizens of one nation view another nation of different customs alien, negatively foreign, and anything different that threatens one's ego and belief system, the different peoples view each other as odd and maybe living life wrong as to what they have learned life to be, and above all, there is this paradigm where nations view others as inferior. At least many. And it seems that our lovely, sympathetic government filled with only the best and honest politicians, I say sarcastically of course--only with plans and multiple blueprints and the beautiful love in their hearts to truly create a better world is astounding.  With corporations overhead pulling the strings in the past years specifically, while the bankers wait till they feel that hole inside once again and become maliciously reinvigorated to rake in the money, the money, the greatest: the Cash Money.
Nowadays we watch the blue tube, the awesome Television that brainwashes people into an ugly metamorphosis wherein it manipulates the citizens through commercials, for example,  telling you if you buy their product you will be the best, or at least better than you already are; that, if you wear some cologne like Polo, Ralph Lauren--or whatever really.. You'll go home and have the best lay of your life. Or if you're a woman, no better time than the present to go out and buy the absolutely to die for, perfect, super sexy bra and panties at no other than Victoria's Secret of course. And hey, maybe even they mysteriously seductive thong to ride up a woman's lower back a bit. That gets one going. Hey, if I could walk around naked all the time in the warmer weather I would. But that's a fantasy. Though I'd like to present another question to ponder.  How unintentional are these things? Really, in these cases, any form of intellect or sense of humor these types of women may have really seems to be  nothing more than just an extra bonus on top the physical.
It's all marketing and the illusion they present to us. Subliminally speaks the unheard words but obvious message. "Better is  more. And more is just better." Tell em' you're okay because you have all you need momentarily…they'' try to convince you that what you're doing is holding only yourself back from self-improvement, and the completely sensationalized lie of a line that states,  The pursuit of happiness is a human right. The fact is, as children we were born with infinite rights, and can really go as far as our imagination takes us, as well as our drive to manifest our best qualities we've learned about ourselves over the years.
Tyler Durden, a character in the book-made-movie Fight Club, at one point says, "Self improvement is masturbation. Now self-destruction…" I like this quote and movie so much because what it does, within the many layers of the story, is promote a kind of spiritual growth by true the discovery of the self through hardships. Tyler also says, "It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything". Problem is, today,  we don't just want…we need. At least we were too-easily taught to believe. And of how crazily and irrationally we crave affirmation! The fear of loneliness, the turn to isolation, habitual to many for the nation is and has become even more of an intense race up this ladder of economic struggle and fortitude on all fronts towards holding onto the wonderful but brief moments of peacefulness, and gratitude.
My fellow reader, brother or sister, there's a lot goin' on here. Out there. Constantly. No doubt in that. So here's a question only moments ago I thought I'd pose for it seems like an appropriate time,
How curious of a person are you actually? Do you have a thirst for knowledge and crave truth?
Or do you hide in your shell like a hermit crab unable to walk forward though sometimes being blown back by the salty wind breaking through and over waves like stock market fluctuations and white-collared criminals smoking opium while on lunch break and sniffing speed before re-entering a sea of people that walk faster than hundreds of different sea creatures all trying to get on their merry way with much traffic and frustration. Can fish feel frustration, or do they just swim and float on? Sometimes I wish I could float on devoid of frustrations and the unnecessary anxiety that paralyzes me. Just your average American. I look in the mirror, shave occasionally, I like cologne when I have it, smoking cigarettes make your teeth yellow so I brush with whitening paste, Crest if you must know, and then I hope I don't look too weird and awkward and somewhat socially acceptable. Where does social anxiety stem from? Too much stimulus can make my spirit quiver inside with discomfort.  with graphs and useless numbers where men simply are playing games with money, making unfathomable profits off really creating nothing positive for the whole, or even a small portion of society.  Self-righteous, narrow-minded, greedy, men addicted to speed, and power. Sometimes going with the flow is a mistake and it took me a while to realize it. Because I see things.
Right now, from where I'm sitting and writing these words to be read by very possibly nobody at all,  I'm watching bodies just dragging pathetically, sadly; bodies filled with apathy, probably hoping to find a partner to save them from their boredom and feeling of loneliness that stays dormant and benign most of the time. But when it opens up, truly there's no other isolating feeling. The hole. The void. The gaping circle of emptiness-- it creeps up at  different times for different people. But it's always there. This is the main reason: everybody likes distractions.
Monotony. Oh monotony…it just breaks one spiritually over time till it's all you know. The wake up, the daily duties, sleep, and repeat, and whatever kind of joy one can experience and grasp and try and hold onto during their days is what keeps people going. The one burning feeling many Americans have inside, is that tomorrow may be a better day.  We lose our identities and as a result experience less and lose the drive and real hope that much different will come in the future. More of the same.
The definition for obligation given by Oxford Dictionary is "required by a legal, moral, or other rule; compulsory". Yet I ask, how are these laws produced and presented forth initially? Well, by politicians and the government of course. Sometimes in the name of religion, which is a great tool they have utilized convincing the public it is a complete Us vs Them situation and yet it is  undoubtedly the dirtiest of schemes to go over and bomb, ruin, just destroy hundreds to millions of lives. How positively does the United States really affect the world around us? The global planet we live in…
And the media's really become a joke. But it works, because it really gets the masses in a frenzy. Call it modern propaganda. Call it what you want. Very few answers, and much too many words. How much of what I write, or we as a species think on the daily, has already been thought, recorded, and recycled for that matter…. And how many times over?
Is to be genuine to one's self and original must they be a nonconformist and go against the grain? How many pills will they prescribe before we're definitely more than less, these synapses like snapping wires inside the head all connected allowing one to function as an average human being-- well we're changing our chemistry. We're altering our makeup. Western psychiatrys got us begging for a cure to the mundane like a junkie to a bad dealer. Here's a fun Snapple fact: America was bought and sold a long time ago. So find your way and just let the rest go grey.
But first let's talk television! The magnificent, blue glowing screen that tells us who we should be, manipulating wants for needs, materialism bleeds and corporations way across seas smile at their sneaky ways of maintaining modern day slavery-- and all the commercials on the tube brainwashing the youth, but drudgingly seducing all ages into the warm waters of consumerism.  TV! Though I don't think we'll ever change the channel and switch lenses for this fictitious concept of time to wash away regrettable lines. Most all the information, the talking in circles, their eyes wide combatting lies with more lies, for the good of the people is not the good of the government. All politicians are generally the same. Always reaching for more power, while quietly working to benefit those already extremely wealthy, corporations, and the banks. Even churches don't pay taxes…you ever ponder that? The television is really better off smashed till the screen shatters to make the floor bleed a dark red kind of static. For nowadays, Americans come to view what is said and told to them by their trusted News Channels and commercials for anti-depressants with a never ending list of horrifying side-effects and another for erectile dysfunction. What audience are these people targeting anyway? So it's  really no reach to say, the man or woman speaking on the TV screen, informing viewers of their either perceived to be important news, or simply news they were ordered to report-- and Americans watch and listen, sometimes flipping from one news station to another, nodding out, a couch potato, but eyes still wide watching Steve Harvey smile too much. People look to the Screen as they once looked to icons such as Christ, Dr. King, Ghandi, and others. Television is the public's new age religion.
So if people do rely on television and social media for intellectual growth and awareness of the world around them, then it's time to exit through the backdoor. A dirty dive bar anyway entitled simply the Who Cares Pub in some city no one pays mind to. And Americans especially know very little of the world outside their large bubble of a nation that goes to great lengths in order to keep us occupied. New iPhones out around twice a year now which have become a commodity through conformity and unaware of how much anguish and suicidal pain has gone into making such a self-absorbing contraption. The few news channels on TV all sound the same to me now. Whether the much criticized and at times comically taking jabs at them, not much is ever really being said. These reporters and interviewers ask questions that are either unimportant answered by someone hired to lie and manipulate and make seem like things are, or will be going splendid in no time. Sincere appealing lies and a couple smiles here and there can get a country going. That's when many start looking away and continue driving their suburban's and SUVS while most simultaneously knowing we're screwing up our environment, ozone layers, and it’s more than evident in the rapid fluctuation in temperatures as of the past few years.  viewing from the end of the world. Over seas….as far as the eyes can see, but much, so much further.
Our imperialistic roots and the overwhelmingly manipulative and forceful means we impose onto other countries; it seems raising the flames on the already troublesome spreading fire is unwise, but how often does wisdom interact and convince men intoxicatingly diabolic, whom have reached a level of astounding deception, Where is the line drawn? Have we ever even had one? If we are we're playing jump rope over it and quickly back on outside and it's pissing a lot of people off. But one has to remember, this has been going on since almost the beginning of time. It's one's choice, which takes a lot of strength and discipline, to see through it all, and play your own game which one can only hope brings success and some form of pride inside. This happens all over the globe. This has a lot to do with the government and how start wars. Every major war in the past two centuries have followed a simple blueprint; it is called the Hegelian Dialectic.
Alright. Switch it up. Something pertaining to the psychological. Depression. Depression vibrates at a low frequency and causes irrational thoughts. A fascinatingly complex phenomena we still only know so much about. Mental illness's. The first principle in Buddhism is 'Life is suffering'. If one were to really learn this and have it engrained into their minds and spirits at an early age, then reality is seen with eyes of understanding, with the quest to find peace in a state of clarity and understanding and patience.   have materialism and consumerism to thank for it. And some people do live this way. I'd see many couples in New York City, the Big Apple, while I lived there for some time, I'd see endless window shoppers and then these lovers would walk in these overpriced, shops with little color to give it that modern, upscale look, which I'll never understand…the point is, the infatuation with material things, and buying and buying all this excess junk one will more than likely get rid of or throw it away, or just simply hang in your closet, to look at, and maybe even regret the purchase and wonder why they even wanted it….
Consumers is what Americans are. The result of a monetary system that feeds off the fact that humans crave stimulus in one form or another. The pursuit of happiness, right? Now it's video games where kids are shooting and killing, have a blast with it, and some of these people find themselves lost in isolation spinning around in a world that doesn't exist. Why? Escape is not only easier nowadays and keeps the majority uninformed about the realities of what's not only going on inside our own damn country and maybe paying a little more time tending to that, and maybe more often televise and report happenings going on daily around the world. This country was bought and sold a long time ago. The bubble this government keeps us in, to maintain our ignorance, uninformed nature, and we're voting for people you wouldn't even want to share a beer with, because maybe, as George Carlin once said, "Where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall from the sky…they don't pass through another membrane from another reality….They come from American parents, American schools, American Universities, this is what we have to offer folks. Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish ignorant citizens, you're gonna end up with selfish ignorant leaders".
And I haven't been here that long, but it's not too hard to notice, something is very  wrong.
It really isn't anyone else's choice but your own, in where you wish to go, and what you long to experience. Forget a bucket list. For we're all dying, baby. Some slow, and some quicker than others. Some transparently, and some so very obviously. So before you take your final bow and so very briefly say goodbye to the harsh world you survived as long as you did, remember…Remember what it was like to feel alive. The look in your lover's eyes before a passionate kiss and the smile returned after…the salty ocean breeze blowing every which way on your skin providing warmth and joy. The brothers and sisters you made along your adventures on this planet. What you've learned, and please disregard regret. If you were to practice conjuring this hypothetical happening in your mind, it won't merely prepare you for your deathbed, but bring a sense of encouragement, motivation, and inspiration to see the good, and learn to deal with the bad.
A grain of salt. A needle in the haystack. And a Humpty Dumpty that never fell. The American Heaven, with an underlying Hell.

"Lucidity Roses"
LUCIDITY ROSES ルシディ・ローゼズ
Dedicated to:
This poem, project, and visual representation of mental growth & beauty is dedicated to someone I miss dearly and think about everyday. My best friend Jaedin A. She helped me get through everything. From my first heartbreak, to my first day of suicide watch in the hospital. She was there. From crying over being abused in a relationship to crying over being locked in a hospital room. She was there. As I write this dedication with tears falling down my face like that day let it be known that I would not be here today. Mentally, and physically if it weren’t for this person. It’s nothing simple like I got an injury and she stopped the bleeding therefore she “saved my life” shit. It’s more like I couldn’t find my own injury but she stopped it from hurting by just being there with me. No matter the situation. Whether it was when I was 1,500+ miles away or just inches away she helped me push through everything that would’ve broken me. Thank you so much for existing in my era. Xox
This piece is heavily inspired by Jenny Holzers ‘Truisms’ poem. Her diverse yet obvious stanzas created beauty by the things we see and hear everyday. Basic knowledge formed together to create a intricate puzzle like piece that allows the mind to gain an insightful view. Thank you Jenny. Alongside being dedicated to my best friend Jaedin it is dedicated to those who did me wrong. Sorry to kill your vibes but no one can bring me down no matter how long they try. With all love and no hate <3 -Julian
WARNING
This is art. This is real. This is raw. I speak my mind and express everything I see and understand. This ain’t some politics-free Facebook post. Not wanting to argument with family members shit. I’ve been blocked by family members for the things I’ve said. My aunt blocked me after posting pro-black lives matter messages on my Facebook. Apparently not wanting to see my half blood brother on the news is too offensive. Wanting justice for innocent people was “too much”. Putting bad cops in the system they avoid was “too excessive”. If you can’t respect my existence or my families and friends then fuck you. This country has been hypocritical since the day it was founded, but overtime new laws and such have been put into the system yet they still treat us like the cameras ain’t recording, like the wounds ain’t showing, like the pain ain’t growing. So realize that this piece isn’t some school assembly script. This is raw and uncut like Trumps Twitter minus the fact that I’m not a damn idiot. Also while reading this piece you have to be in touch with the other side. By that I mean you have to be relaxed and at peace. Plug in headphones, white noise machine, open the window, do what you gotta do to be ready to see instead of just read. It’s like a deep song with curse words in it. You can’t listen for the words, you have to listen for the meaning. If Van Gogh painted Starry Night in an art class no one would fully appreciate it for the way it was meant to be. Art is three dimensional and up. It can be seen from many sides. Although all of them can be justified, when the artist explains what his two dimensional view of the piece is you gotta just sit back in amazement. The whole time I was writing this I had that mindset. This my canvas mindset. Knowing that each stroke on the white surface has to be better than the last. So here is my piece. My canvas. I hope you enjoy and understand.

Everything in this project has meaning. Everything. I would stay up til the early hours of the morning just thinking and trying to tell my story while correlating it with symbols and clues. Notice how there is every letter in the alphabet on here twenty six times? That was a tribute to Holzers style she had on “Truisms”. Notice how every letter is lowercased? Also a tribute to Holzer. The cover art, hand drawn by the way, the cover is a skull with three roses coming out of it. Those three roses represent the three loves of my life. From best to worst going left to right. The words above them show what they gave and introduced me to. Love, lust, and lorn. All of these things are apart of life. The three emotions we all are controlled by in life. The three things that can break us from ourselves. That’s why the skull is there. After all those things I had to endure I felt nothing but dead inside. On the outside it was visible too. From the days my mother would ask me what’s wrong to the days I would break down at school. It was visible. I seemed dead on the inside. They say nothing is as dry as the bone, but I found a way to push through. My rebirth allowed me to show the world I am still here. After my battles with love a rose grew, after my battles with lust a rose grew, and even after being beat down and almost held away from the light that helped me grow, a rose grew from lorn. I am still recovering from these three things. The roses vary in stages because of this. Lorn was the most impactful on me hence why the rose is the smallest of the three. It is taking time to heal from these things, but I am reborn. Three things that have claimed my last three years. From the day after middle school ended where I was in my room all day crying because I never took a chance at shit to the first day of suicide watch. These are my past lessons. This is my life. Thank you all for allowing me to fully expose this. I hope that this can inspire you to become the best you. I hope this can inspire you that no matter how crazy, lonely, and heartbroken you feel you’re never alone on this crazy ride we call life. Thank you very much. Xoxo -Julian

Jin Namba fanfic: Obstacles part 11
Obstacles part 11:
In the academy, instructor’s office:
All the instructors are sitting at the table, discussing any information they have on YN and Asahi Kyobe.
“Ayumu, any updates on YN’s whereabout?”
“Nothing so far, both their cell phones are off so I can’t trace them. Asahi has disappeared ever since and no one has saw him. I can’t believe how much work this crazy doctor has put me through yet I still can’t find him.” Ayumu said, annoyed.
“However, I did manage to find this after hacking through all his personal computer. I found the formula for the antidote.”
!!!
“Great work! Send it to the hospital lab now.” I cannot describe how ecstatic I feel upon hearing that news. With the formula, now we can create an antidote. That means YN’s condition is no longer a death sentence.
“No, send it to my colleague. She works with more advanced equipment and an elite team. I’ll ask a personal favour.” Ishigami chimes in.
“I appreciate your help.”
Ishigami’s lips curves upward slightly acknowledging my appreciation.
Now we can create the antidote, I’m just worried about YN’s condition. It’s already 2 days since her disappearance and we heard nothing from her so far. Her condition was not great and now she’s not in the hospital receiving treatment. What if her condition gets worse, what if I’m too late…..
My earlier elated mood turns gloomy again at this thought.
“YN is a strong girl, I’m sure she is going to be fine.” Shusuke pats me on the shoulder reassuringly.
“Chief, you have all our support.” Ishigami’s word is short but it’s nothing short of supportiveness.
“I’ll give him the interrogation of his life and let him taste what it is like to mess with public safety squad.” Kaga smirks.
Looking at all the instructors, I’m so grateful to be their boss.
“Thanks guys. ……Thank you.”
My tired features relief into a smile and they all do so in return.
“Chief, no need to thank us. We always have your back. Leave everything to us for now. Go home and take some rest. You need the energy to work and look for YN right? I’ll inform you straight away if we find something.”
Goto is right. Fatigue is dulling my senses and judgement. I need to take some rest so I can have the physical strength and mentality to find YN.
Nodding in agreement,
“I’ll leave things in your capable hands.”
Goto offered to drive me back and I took up his offer, I’m in no ideal condition to drive.
I got back to my apartment and it was all dark and empty. I miss having YN here, her cooking, her smile and scent and everything.
I stretches my stiff back, I miss having her putting heat patches on my back too.
I sigh and take off my suit dumping it on the couch. I took a quick shower and went to bed.
The bed feels cold without her warmth, I reach over to the other side and lay my hand on her pillow, imagining her sleeping face.
I quickly shake off the feeling and close my eyes. Let me escape from all the heartache just for a moment, even just for a duration of a dream.
I imagine YN’s smiling face and my whole body relaxes.
I miss you, little bird.
It didn’t take much effort and I drift into deep sleep.
 YN’s POV:
In a dark room.
Cough, cough…..Ah….I feel like my lungs are burning.
I open my eyes groggily and scan my surrounding. I’ve been in the dim room for 2 days now. I rotate my wrist, still bound to the chair.
Cough, Cough.
The next moment, someone forces a pill in my mouth. It’s Dr Kyobe.
I lift my eyes looking up to the man, he puts a glass of water near my lips and I take the pill down with the water. Thirst caused me to take big gulps and I choked-
Cough cough!
Just for a moment, I felt soft pats in my back.
After a few minutes, my coughing subsided and the burning sensation in my lungs also dampens.
Dr Kyobe walks away and sits down on a nearby chair.
2 days ago, I was in the hospital, out of nowhere, my heart started to hurt followed by chaos of machine beeping and doctors trying to resuscitate me. The last thing I remembered before losing consciousness was the long beep by the heart monitor.
The next time I’ve woken up I found myself alone with Dr kyobe in an isolated dark room.
Now that I’m taken away, I really misses him. I wonder how chief is doing. Is he working hard trying to find me? I picture chief’s panicked face and I feel a sense of anxiousness rising.
I shift my head towards Dr Kyobe and examine his face.
Contrast to his previous friendly nature, he spoke very few words to me in the past days and only forces pills into my mouth once in a while to help with my coughing. I asked him why he would do that and all he replied was to simply keep me alive.
I’ve tried asking him why he took me away from the hospital but to no avail.
But I too am stubborn and I ask the same question again and again:
“Dr Kyobe, why are you doing this?” Expecting no answer but to my surprise, he opened his mouth with a nostalgic and faraway look in his eyes.
“5 years ago, my family was happy until one day my sister in law contracted a rare disease. My brother is a medical researcher so he was frantic in trying to come up with a drug to cure her. He was so close to finish the drug too! But that man, Jin Namba! He has to interrupt and arrest him for illegal conduction of clinical trial! The drug was forced to leave unfinished and my sister in law died with no cure! My brother also took his own life. Just like that! Gone! They are gone! All because of that man!”
Dr Kyobe stood up with rage knocking over the chair.
Clinical trial? That means with human?
“Your brother….killed people while testing the drugs?”
“What do you know? It’s mere sacrifices for the name of science! Do you know how many lives he could potentially save with the drug and how many lives he have saved in the past with the drugs he developed? Yet the judges and jury all decided that he is guilty and separate him from his wife at the worst timing. That action took their lives. He was such an amazing brother and researcher. He could have achieved so much yet he died in prison! They should all pay. All of them!”
He roared with anger and resentment.
“I’ll let them have a taste of what true pain feels like, when they have a close encounter with death.” He smiles was cold and he turns his head towards me.
“As for you, I gave you the toxin from the pathogen that infected my sister in law. You will experience the same pain as her. He can feel the same hopelessness my brother felt when he couldn’t save her. You can die hating Jin Namba because he’s the one who interrupted the creation of the drug. I kind of liked you and feel sorry for you, you remind me of my sister in law. But don’t hate me for this. Hate him. Karma is a beautiful thing, don’t you agree? What goes around comes around. ”
Dr Kyobe walks out the room slamming the door. Just for a second, I saw a small box with flashing light outside in the hallway. Is that a bomb?!
I starts to panic and wiggles around in the chair. No matter how hard I try, the rope just would not budge.
What is he planning to do?
I settle down as fatigue overtakes me. Chief…I miss you, I want to go home.
 No one’s POV:
In the academy monitor room:
“Chief, I just tracked down YN’s cell phone signal. It’s located in an abandoned building on the south edge of the city.” Ayumu types away flagging a location on the map.
Jin looks ecstatic and relived at the same time that they finally managed to find YN’s where about.
“Chief, have your phone ready just in case you get any calls from her.”
Just on cue, Jin’s phone vibrates showing YN’s name on the screen.
Quickly connecting the phone with cables, the phone screen shows on the larger monitor.
Jin hits the pickup button and Asahi’s face appears in the video call.
“Long time no see, detective.”
“You!! Where is YN?!”
“Not so rushed shall we?” Asahi Kyobe turns the phone and YN comes into view.
“YN! YN! Can you hear me?”
Hearing chief’s voice, YN looks up to the phone Asahi Kyobe’s holding.
“Chief….Chief!”
“YN! Don’t worry, I’ll come and save you!”
YN look so tired and scared, but she shakes her head.
“Alright alright, enough reunion time. Let’s get back to business.”
“What do you want?” Jin glowers.
“More like what would YOU want? A bomb is set to detonate somewhere and sometime soon. You can go and disarm that bomb all you like, but if I don’t hear this explosion, then I will kill her. So what do you want? Her or the public? Or? Maybe if you come by yourself and take her place, I’ll let her live too. How about that? Aren’t I generous? You took 2 lives from my family and I’m only one from you. What a bargain. Hahahahaha.”
The call then ends with Asahi’s crazy laughter.
Jin bangs his hands on the table with frustration.
“Ayumu, do whatever you can to find that bomb. We have to stop it.”
Jin then picks up his phone and informs Ishigami about the bomb dispatching officers to scout out potential spots.
“Chief, what are you planning to do?”
Ayumu is obviously asking which one Jin will choose out of the two.
“They are both important to me.”
It might be an ambitious thought but I will not let it go down without a fight.
I have no idea when and where the bomb is located, I don’t have much time.
“Ayume, I’ll leave the bomb searching to you and the other instructors, I’ll go and find YN.”
“He easily let you tracked his location, just that one point is making everything suspicious. Chief, it’s too dangerous to go by yourself.”
“I’ll still have to go even it’s dangerous, YN’s waiting.”
Jin then turns to leave for the door without saying anymore.
“Chief!”
Jin’s POV:
“You are finally here. I see, I’ll give you points for that.”
Asahi Kyobe steps out from the dark as soon as I step my foot into the building.
I quickly point my gun at him.
“Watch it, or this one will go off too.”
I follow his hand and I see YN, sitting on a chair unconscious and bound with a gun pointing at her head.
“You….!” My voice is low with anger and I tighten my grip on the gun.
“you should drop the gun if you want to ensure her safety.” Asahi points his chin towards the ground.
I slowly kneel down and place my gun on the ground.
“Jin Namba, 5 years ago, you arrested my brother and caused them to die. It’s time you pay back that debt!” Asahi Hyobe’s body shakes with rage and his voice drips with hatred.
“Your brother’s research killed several people, what he conducted was a crime!”
“Silence!” Asahi points his gun towards me.
“He was meant to achieve so much more in his life. He has done so much for people but he died in prison! All because of you!”
“Crimes needs to be punished, that’s why we have laws.”
“Shut up about the law crap! Don’t make yourself so righteous! Look at you, kneeling on the ground and your fiancée is dying. All this happened because of you! If you never made the arrest, my brother and my sister in law wouldn’t have died. If you didn’t arrest him, the drug would’ve been developed! If you didn’t arrest him, your fiancée wouldn’t be sitting here today dying. This is all your fault!”
His words and accusation hammers me hard in my heart. If I really didn’t make that arrest 5 years ago, he wouldn’t be taking his revenge now, YN wouldn’t get involved in this.
I furrow my brows doubting my past decision.
“…..No, chief didn’t do anything wrong. It was your brother who committed the crime. How things unfold afterward was unfortunate but what your brother did was inexcusable. Chief did the right thing. Even if I die here today, I support his decision nevertheless.”
YN who has awoken weakly interjects but looks into my eye with love and affection.
That’s right, ensuring public’s safety and upholding justice and law is my job and passion. I do not regret the decision although what happened afterward was beyond what I can expect If I can choose again, I will arrest him again, that is who I am, I’m the chief of public safety.
“But he still doesn’t deserve to die!”
“No one deserves to die. And no one should have the power to decide someone else’s life. Not me, not you, not your brother.” I said with new found resolution.
“SILENCE!” Asahi Kyobe roars and pulls the trigger.
YN quickly rams her body into him knocking them both over sending the bullet straight to the ground.
BANG!
Asahi regains his posture and aims the gun at YN this time.
“YN!”
I pick up my gun and readies my aim. Just before he pulls the trigger again, I was a second faster.
BANG!
The gun flew from his hand and he crouch his hand in pain.
“Ahhhh!!!!”
 Changing to YN’s POV:
I watch Dr Kyobe crouching on the ground holding his bleeding hand in pain.
Chief quickly runs towards me giving me a tight hug with me still bound to the chair.
I miss his warmth and smell. I bury my head into his embrace and tears finally begins to roll down.
“Chief…I miss you so so much.” I croak.
“Me too, little bird.” Chief showers kisses onto my forehead.
“This is not over yet!” suddenly, Dr Kyobe shouts holding a remote in his hand. Terror fills my eyes.
The bomb! He must have hidden it else where as I can no longer spot the bomb in the hallway.
Also registering what Dr Kyobe is trying to do. Chief quickly pushes me down onto the ground and holds me tight trying to protect from the explosion.
So this is where everything is going to end?
I wiggle my bound hands trying to free them so I can hold chief. Chief tightens his embrace, so much that I feel like we will become one.
Atleast I can die his chief’s arm. My tears seep into chief’s suit.
“I love you chief.” I whisper burying my face in the crook of chief’s neck.
“I love you too little bird.”
The next moment, Dr Kyobe’s thumb pushes the button.
 Continutes into part 12
A/N: Yay, I finally finished writing this chapter, it was super long to write. Not too long until the end so please stay tuned! Again I welcome any comments! Thank you all!~

Health care in times of Covid19 in India! Can our public hospitals take care of COVID19 pandemic? The worst is yet to be! We don’t need five-star hospitals: WE need hospitals with a healing environment! Being a patient is never easy, and you deserve the best that medicine can offer. Hospitals are the “healing temples”. The world of health care needs to remember that aside from good medicine, a nice environment can be just as sweet a pill.  Commercialisation of patient care has resulted in lots of convoluted and complex ideas that often border on being nothing more than expensive gimmicks. Health care is in a tumultuous state of flux at the moment, with the universal drive for quality improvement and the need to rein in costs. A healing environment is one that has a nurturing and therapeutic effect. Hospital environments should reduce patients’ anxiety and stress, accelerate recovery, shorten hospitalizations, lessen pain, and promote a sense of well-being.   An unprecedented effort is required from the govt, the society, the doctors, the nurses, the paramedical staff and the industry. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought in a sense of urgency to fix the maladies of Indian Health care system! If the virus can wreak havoc in developed countries with far superior healthcare, India is surely sitting on a time bomb. Access to quality care for the vast majority holds the key. Here is a chance to redesign the system keeping both affordability and quality in mind! COVID-19 pandemic has created a Health crisis. The irony is that a Corona pandemic has been brought into India by people who can afford plane tickets. They can and are able to buy private health services. The virus will devastate the poor who they have infected and who have little access to health care.  India’s impoverished millions are likely to overwhelmingly bear the brunt of the suffering which will ensue. But with the pandemic, it can decimate the survival probabilities and fragile livelihoods of the poor. Current state of public hospitals Some institutes are good- All India institute of Medical sciences, PGRI Chandigarh, Chitra institute of medical sciences in Thiruvananthapuram, NIMHANS and Jayadeva institute of cardiology in Bangalore etc. I am sure there are many more. Main Challenges Confronting a Public Hospital In my opinion, the main challenges confronting the public hospitals today are as follows: • deficient infrastructure, • deficient manpower, • unmanageable patient load • Unbearable ambience • Lack of medicines • Political patronage and unaccountability • Lack of clean water and three phase electricity round the clock • deficiency of specialists • Violence against the doctors, nurses and other warriors • High Out of Pocket Expenditure: The last “National Health Accounts” for India stated: “Among all the sources, households contributed a significant portion at 71 % of total health expenditure for availing health care services. The contribution from the all-powerful govt is only29%. The sight of the unhygienic condition of the wards and more so the toilets is making patients flee India’s coronavirus isolation wards! The rude behaviour of the staff, poor diet, contaminated water has made many to look with suspicion at the state’s efforts to battle the Covid-19. This sort of shambolic public health infrastructure is bad at the best of times—but could be catastrophic during a health emergency like Covid-19. A district hospital serving a population of two million may have to serve 20,000 patients, but they are bereft of the beds, personnel and resources to do this. Few have a single ventilator and many not even that! Many even in middle-class have opted out of public health completely. You don’t need an epidemic, however predictable, for the public health system to collapse. It stays collapsed as a matter of routine! India has a little over one million modern medicine -allopathy doctors to treat its population of 1.3 billion people. Of these, only 1.1 lakh work in the public health sector, to which India’s 900 million rural population turns for treatment. - the National Health Profile 2017. There is one government hospital bed for every 2,046 people and one state-run hospital for every 90,343 people. To fight a pandemic like Covid-19, India needs overarching healthcare laws Around the world, countries have laid great emphasis on strengthening their public healthcare laws to prepare themselves for such pandemics. While the government also declared the pandemic as a “notified disaster” under the Disaster Management Act, the fact remains that India does not have dedicated legislation for a pandemic situation. An overarching law governing public healthcare is a glaring gap in India’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. public healthcare laws in India fall short of meeting the needs of a pandemic situation. The primary law it resorts to is the 123-year old The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, that governs healthcare emergencies in India. The power granted to the Centre under this Act is very limited, and it is the ultimate discretion of the state government to take steps. There seems to be four major gaps plaguing the Act. These relate to rights of healthcare personnel, travel restrictions, privacy rights, and investments needed to meet the healthcare challenge. Earmark a disaster management budget COVID-19 is only one of many epidemics we are likely to see in the coming decades. There is an urgent need to establish a separate, long-term disaster management program with dedicated care centres across the country. We need to scale up public health services, number of beds and physicians, medical equipment, medicines, and care packages. Alongside, we must provide our front-line healthcare workers and medics with the requisite intensive training if we really need to save lives and prevent a catastrophe of this proportion again. Deficiency of Political Will India’s public expenditure on health accounted for barely 21 percent of the total health expenditure. where there is no will, there are alibis and subterfuge. India accounts for a substantial part of the global burden of disease, with 18% of global deaths and 20% disability-adjusted life-years.  In India the inverse care law, whereby those with the greatest need for health care have the greatest difficulty in accessing health services and least likely to have their health needs met, works. Unless low cost, high quality and equitable healthcare become a political demand and an electoral issue, the situation is not likely to change. It should keep public health policies noncontaminated from the interests of health care industry. Corruption in healthcare is not limited to the practices of the individual medical practitioners. It has a wider national perspective. By signalling out the professionals only, the wider malaise goes unnoticed from the public scrutiny. Political leadership should be pragmatic enough to respond to this crisis. Way forward By all accounts, the fight against COVID-19 would be a long haul. The virus would survive for several months after "flattening the curve"- slowing down infections that India aims to achieve through social distancing. This would mean India can't afford to restrict itself to a few weeks of emergency measures. It would have to think long-term and plan for future exigencies, something that calls for redesigning its healthcare system to respond to people's needs While one part of the population enjoys work and nutritional security, health insurance and housing of globally acceptable standards, others survive at the edge of unprotected and uncertain work, abysmal housing without clean water and sanitation, and no assured public health care. Can we resolve to correct this in post-COVID India? Can we at least now make the country more kind, just and equal?
