Bro I hate fundamentalists and culturally-fundie parents they'll say shit like "spare the rod spoil the child am I right haha yea my parents used to have to beat my ass with a switch almost everyday but I sure did learn my lesson" but like??? no you didn't??? you were hit multiple times for something you very obviously did not, in fact, learn
Like studies about how harmful even lightly spanking children is aside, you're literally contradicting yourself?? Some even admitted they got worse as they got older cause they wanted to see how far they could push their parents before they got punished
And studies not aside, you're gonna get child raising advice from the same book that tells you to stone your wife if her hymen doesn't break on your wedding night instead of the decades of research we have now?? Just say you're a bad parent and move on my guy. Skill issue
#bro I had a coworker go 'unpopular opinion I think some kids really do need beatings' and I'm like????#unprompted???? what's going on there????#well anyways I ended up going 'yea so I plan on specializing in play therapy with autistic children so I've been learning about talking#to children and the ways their parents and environment affects them'#and they're like hmmm but beating this kid with a stick after they broke something or I upset them to the point of yelling is good actually#had a boss say it taught him and his kids respect cause they were hard-headed#and I'm like?? that's fear not respect! they fear punishment! they do not act out of respect for you!#he's a conservative christian black man tho so he's like 'But Authority!' like bro I don't even respect you what are you on about#'You don't respect police and their authority?' Nope! I fear them! I do not respect cops and every cop/cop-adjacent person I personally know#has reinforced that for me#'We'll agree to disagree' Cool! Doesn't mean you're not wrong! I could believe trees aren't real but that is in fact incorrect#then he pulled out the bible verse and I was like ah okay I forgot you like 'here's how to treat slaves' book you're so right bestie#I'm totally wrong now and so sorry for doubting you and your 2000+ year old book I don't believe in <3#They'd go 'well I turned out fine!' then say something that directly contradicts that#anyways I need christians to get their grubby little hands off the current state of Child Protection and Rights in the U.S.#So we can actually start working on helping kids without the force of christian hands suffocating them#cause homeschooling and child raising by evangelicals are so fucked up bro I'm tired of this shit#I'd only stay in my current state to help children get out of that cycle since I'm in the bible belt#ex christian#religious trauma#child abuse tw

You are the teacher and it so happens, that one day two little twins join your classes in the midst of the year. You heard before their arrival that they are odd and older teachers have been talking that their father is exceptionally young for a parent. And truth is, Suguru wasn't a fan of the idea of giving the girls under the care of a monkey, to have them share spaces and learn among the monkeys, but he was responsible enough to believe that education is something Mimiko and Nanako can benefit from. And if something wrong happens, he'll just—

Every once in awhile I remember that one toxic friendship I had as an 11-13 year old where our highly involved animal/keeper roleplay got so weird and intense that we had a safeword. Hope that girl is living the kinky life of her dreams nowadays because dear lord

all im saying is the childhood friends Cole and Jay hc is incredibly great but its even better and writes itself when you consider the facts:
Jay very clearly was bullied when he was younger (his whole not good bc he was raised in a junkyard and insecurities and all of that)
Cole canonically got in trouble because he fought a bully at school as a kid
Look all I’m saying is these two details add up and I am so insane over the fact this writes itself and i have so many thoughts abt what this hc means for their friendship

BROOOO i was telling my mom about an anime that my manager was recommending to me the other day and how she explained like the basic plot of the 1st episode to me (it's cinderella but subverted to where cinderella is the villain. basically she victimizes herself and has everyone in her community believing her stepsisters are forcing her to be their servant even though they aren't) and my mom goes "oh sounds like [younger sister's name] haha" and I said "that's really mean" and she went "but am I wrong?" and i said again "That is mean." and my godsister backed her up. but like. how pathetic do you have to be as a parent to just find any reason to insult and bully your child -_- you're the PARENT!!!! she's never ever ever been on the top of that power dynamic!!!! maybe she embellishes to her for sympathy (everyone wants sympathy sometimes especially when things suck) but like. you do suck a little bit. sorry. maybe she makes herself a victim of ppl she has equal standing with (like her siblings...) but you know what you never effectively talked to her about that and now she's grown. unless you want to actually give her support and advice shut up!!!!!! you're the mom you're the parent you have the power in this dynamic. why do you have to be such a bully!!! NO MORE SCAPEGOATS!!!!!!!

Hello I’d like to ask about “SQ thing” “immune” and “whistle” if it’s not too much trouble. These all sound good, and I’m very excited to read them!
Hi!! Thank you for always being so nice and supportive :D
"SQ Thing" was honestly a gut reaction to this lovely thing by @cptnwynnie, and is about SQ and The Sister :>
"Immune" is actually an ironic title now that I think about it, and kind of a dumb concept. It's another SQ fic! But it's about him having an isolated/weak immune system from living on the island and so he just gets sick a lot.
(All of my inspiration for SQ stuff comes from the exquisite @sqenthusiast so please go read their fics!!!!)
"Whistle" is a Milligan fic that I'm actually kind of excited about! It's supposed to be like a series of vignettes or one of those "5 + 1" kind of fics, but it's giving me a real hard time at the moment, especially since I'm still not confident in writing the adults

Okay finally getting around to the grade skipping story. I skipped two grades. I skipped third grade and then the next year I skipped fifth grade. So it went second -> fourth -> sixth. The main reason for this is I was doing advanced work and at the time, you had to take the standardized test that matched your official grade, not the material you were doing. They later changed this policy allowing my standardized test taking to also be bizarre. But anyway, even when I was in fourth grade, I was doing fifth grade work for like half my subjects. I also went to a small, weird school with 1) multi grade classrooms 2) loose boundaries 3) new configurations every year. So when I would have been in fourth grade, I was in sixth grade in a 5-6 classroom. The next year I was in seventh grade in a 6-7 classroom. The next year, when I would have been in sixth grade, I split my time between the 3-6 and 7-9 teams.
Throughout all of this I had a lot of angst about wanting a normal experience. (In addition to all this I was doing separate curriculum from everyone else for a bunch of subjects.) I really didn't want to graduate early, which was the right call for me and I was fortunate to be aware of that young. There had been an idea all along that I could return to a traditional high school and I wanted that badly. So the idea was that I would be "held back" in eighth grade for two years, so I could enter ninth grade at the normal age. No one actually cares if you repeat eighth grade and I could just keep doing what I was doing, curriculum wise. Except I kept turning up on lists for vision checks and so forth as if my grade was still advancing. For like a solid two years when people asked what grade I was in I would honestly say "I don't know."
The eighth grade retention thing didn't work and I transferred to my high school when I was fourteen as a junior. I didn't find out until the start of my actual junior year when they were like you were supposed to graduate last year??? So officially I was a senior for three years.

We're back!
Our honeymoon was absolutely marvellous! It was seven glorious days at the start of our marriage at a wonderful villa in Sulani, we flew out of the airport a few hours after our reception and were in Sulani 9 hours later.

We stayed in a cute little beach house directly on the water, and we definitely spent our time on the water wisely. I bought all new swimwear for our honeymoon, since I'm focused on staying modest whilst in swimwear it takes a little more to find outfits that fit my standards. Thankfully I found the perfect set for the beach, the skirt comes with leggings and the top is sleeveless but has a high neckline. Our villa was 'modest friendly' and allowed me to wear 'tan friendly' swimwear so my tan lines wouldn't be so obscure, so the pink set was for when we ventured out to the public beach.

I carefully selected a colour scheme for our time in Sulani, I wanted the tropical greens and oranges that we'd find, thankfully my tripod was on it's game for our pictures. I'll be doing a blog post on my outfits when I get back, as a vacation capsule of sorts. Back on topic, Whilst we were on our own for breakfast and lunch everyday, every night we'd wander over to a local restaurant for dinner where we'd eat the freshest seafood as well as other dishes local to Sulani.
I know it's just started, but I love being married and fulfilling the plans that the Lord had for me
